I don’t want to go too far off subject here, as this essay need not be hijacked…but I have a short response to this.
I am a study of history (An interest not exclusive but particular to military 1928-1946).
I know my own family history back to the 1600′s, when my family came from England. They lived in what is now Canada back then, when the French and English were fighting over control on the northern part of the continent. The French starting paying the indigenous people, local Indian tribes that they traded with, for the scalps of English settlers (A practice quickly picked up by the Brits).
A group of my family came back from a hunting trip to find the family (men, women and children) scalped and disemboweled. They changed their last name (shortened it, in point of fact) to sound less British, packed up the horses and headed south.
Human cruelty isn’t isolated to skin color. It more often comes from ideology.
