My father’s side of the family is German Jewish. His own father went back to Germany in the 30s to plead with his family to leave. Some did, those that did not perished in the camps. A great book called “My german Question” examines the very issue of Jews who neother fled nor fought. It is a cautionaty tale about faith in authority just because it is the ‘legitimate authority’.
