I’m Lebanese! I harbour no ill will towards the Isrealis, or Jews for that matter, and I must agree that a large number of my fellow Lebanese might not share this view, which I can understand. However, I must congratulate Ms. Golden on a well written article that makes some valid points. Although I must also state that many of your allegations regarding Ms. Samaha’s article are not entirely relevant. I don’t believe Ms. Samaha had a hidden agenda and I certainly don’t believe that she was attempting to distort the truth. In either case I do feel that both parties put forward relevant and mostly sound arguments which were a pleasure to read.
To Ms. Goldman I say this, I only hope that you will again someday visit our beautiful city (regardless of the latest destruction and rebuilding) and our even more beautiful country. I’m glad to see that there is some progess made between our countries and that this continues to one day allow Lebanese and Isrealis to visit each others capitals without fear or prejudice. Personally I’d welcome an Isreali in to my home any day of the week, rather than allowing a Syrian one ounce of Lebanese soil!!!
To all Isrealis I only hope you understand that the majority those Lebanese that are not fond of you are the some ones that are now living in shelters and on the streets and I’m sorry to say that there are quite a number of them. Hopefully we’ll all be rid of Hezbollah one day and none of this ‘he shot first’ nonsense will continue!
Peace!
