The Miss Alaska Pageant has never been called a
“beauty pageant.” In fact, they have gone to great lengths to refer to it as a “scholarship pageant” for years. It is a preliminary for the Miss America Pageant and normally in the press is NEVER referred to as anything but. The press is not being factual…has Phyllis George ever been referred to as a “beauty queen”. The difference between a beauty pageant and a scholarship pageant is the Miss America Pageant is judged heavily on talent and a judges interview.
