The only “dupe” here is Walid. I have a personal, front row seat to the the mind and ministry of Mosab Yousef, and have never heard him stray from his message of finding love at the foot of the cross. Walid is duping all of you by lying about the translation & his own history – which the Wall Street Journal and the Shin Bet cannot seem to verify – although, they can, and have verified Mosab’s story. I am ashamed that Walid would call himself “Christian” and attack a fellow brother to further his own interest in the almighty dollar – this should garner a bit of interest in him at Mosab’s expense. Mosab’s point was Christ – not Israel, Palestine, or the U.S. He did what he did because he found love at the feet of Jesus – and every time he speaks he brings that point home. I have never met a human being who loves others like Mosab does – Walid would not know that because he has never met him.
The following is part of Mosab’s response which can be found on sonofhamas.wordpress.com. As an Arab, Walid knows these cultural differences, that is why I say, “shame on you, Mr. Shoebat.” And as a Christ-follower, I apologize for him.
“Arabs process information very differently from Westerners. Their culture, mentality, expressions, and environment are as different as their language. So I talk to them differently—not just in a different language but in all these ways as well. And when it is translated literally, not only outside the context of the entire interview but apart from the understanding of that culture, mentality, expression and environment, it sounds very different. You may have experienced something similar yourself, when you try to understand someone during a telephone conversation. You lose a lot when you cannot see facial expressions and body language, and there is always danger of misunderstandings and even offenses when none are intended.” Mosab Hassan Yousef
