Laura, it is impossible to sell something for less then it is worth. Value is established by the sales price.
It is commonplace for ‘experts’ to claim that something was worth more, in which case you need to ask those ‘experts’ for a check and close the deal right then and there.
I used to own a Toyota dealership. I once had a customer come back the next day and say that joe so and so told her we screwed her on the trade, that is was worth x dollars and we only gave her y. So I told her that she needed to go back and get Joe and bring him on down and we would let him buy her old car at his price and either give her the extra money or put it toward her new vehicle. We would do the paperwork for free. Suddenly Joe had thousands of excuse why he couldn’t do that.
My point is that it doesn’t matter what sombody who has no intention of buying thinks it’s worth. Market value is determined by the market, which means somebody has to make a sale and somebody has to come up with the cash.
There are many different books you can buy that give the “prices” of automobiles. They are all bogus, since their job is not selling an automobile, but selling that book. So once they have your 4.95$ they are done.
