Hello all. Europe has serious problems assimilating their Muslim population- but I think everyone should calm down about Spain. I am a research fellow at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania this summer, writing a paper about immigration in Spain. According to the latest data from the Spanish municipal census, the fastest growing immigrant group in Spain is actually Europeans (largely due to the recent entrance of Romania and Bulgaria into the EU.) Europeans are the largest immigrant group as well. The next largest immigrant groups is South Americans- who are, let us not forget, very Catholic. It turns out that, percentage-wise, the Moroccan share of the immigrant population actually SHRUNK from 2006 to 2007. In conclusion: Spain is not about to turn Muslim anytime soon.
