I don’t understand the phenomenon of trying to diminish (aka “diss”) somebody through comparison with people with whom the potential “dissee” has had no relationship, no contact and (possibly) even no knowledge.
In short, attempting to say Sarah Palin is Tom Eagleton, Dan Quayle, Geraldine Ferraro or (God forbid) any member of the sisterhood of the traveling pantsuit 
seems to me…well…very dumb.
