I am wondering if the Monday Morning Quarterback was a tad blurry-eyed whilst writing the column this morning.

I base my supposition on the fact that he appears to have been unable to read the results of the pajamasmedia poll which showed that Dr. Ron Paul devastated his nearest Republican competitor, one Fred Thompson, by a 2 to 1 margin, gathering more than 55% of the Republican vote, i.e., more than all of the other 10 candidates combined! Considering the additional fact that he also out-polled the top Democratic candidate, Bill Richardson, by more than a 2 to 1 margin, it would surely seem that such striking results would be worthy of political comment.

And, did the Quarterback also miss the news that Ron Paul outdrew six other candidates this past Saturday in Iowa, including Mitt Romney, by a 2 to 1 margin. The consistency of the straw poll and the Iowa turnout are even more interesting in what they may auger for the future, don’t you think?

The only sensible explanation for such a blatant oversight is that it must have been quite a rousing (carousing?) weekend for our esteemed Quarterback.
