Your UN: Tax Proliferators for the Planet
American taxpayers shell out billions to the United Nations system every year. So what does that money help pay for?
Well, one thing that U.S. taxes help fund is the UN’s quest for new ways to impose yet more taxes, which the UN would like to see collected and spent not by national authorities, but by some global authority, such as, well, the UN itself. These taxes would in turn help finance UN planning of the global economy — a process which, to judge by the record, would then generate yet more UN proposals for yet more taxes. As an exercise in proliferation, it’s almost elegant.
On this theme, Agence France-Presse produced a fascinating dispatch recently, summarizing one of the UN’s latest endeavors: “UN calls for ‘billionaires tax’ to help the world’s poor.” The article cites a new UN report, which lists a whole array of potential taxes that the UN considers worth exploring, and which it is considering as avenues to raise some $400 billion per year for “poor countries.”
The list was so extensive, so arrogant, so utterly over-reaching — it sounded like a spoof.
No such luck. I went looking for the original UN report, and here it is, from the UN Secretariat’s Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the World Economic and Social Survey 2012, titled “In Search of New Development Finance.” Just scroll down to Section 1, pages 4-5 for the handy chart, listing proposals for everything from a global tax on billionaires (which the UN estimates might generate $40-$50 billion), to taxes on carbon, financial transactions, currency exchange, etc.
The potential mechanics alone raise all sorts of horrifying questions. How, exactly, would the UN determine who is a billionaire? Would we all be required to file tax returns with the UN? Would the U.S. federal government be expected to turn over individual tax returns to the UN? Would the UN — which has yet to master the art of auditing itself — set to work auditing the rest of us? We are now heading into the realms of science fiction, and not sci-fi of the warm and cuddly variety.
Another intriguing aspect of this report is its over-riding interest in finding ways to acquire money. The “poor” appear here as something of an afterthought, as the unnamed UN authors of this report note that there is of course the difficulty of finding the best ways to spend all this money they propose to tax away from the “donor” sources of the planet. But the big concern here is how to raise enormous sums of money. Then they can buckle down to the job of spending it.
This report was generated by the same Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) within the UN Secretariat that housed the core planning group — a secretariat within the secretariat — for the Rio+20 conference the UN convened just last month in Brazil. Given the vast scope of the Rio+ ambitions, that conference by some accounts bombed; nonetheless, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton responded to the event by pledging another $2 billion in U.S. handouts for aid, and the UN bureaucracy profited at least to the extent of enjoying lavish trips to Rio, and the chance to generate plans for yet more conferences, and yet more tax proposals.
All this has almost nothing to do with the poor, for whom the real solutions lie in the direction of liberty, embodied in decent rule of law combined with free markets. But those ideas, when put into practice, merely allow poor people to get rich; they don’t raise money for the UN. So, on we go — another season, another UN report on, as this one puts it, “the potential of innovative development financing.” It’s all about the money. Your money.

Claudia(and readers), please go to my blog-www.adinakutnicki.com. Its contents relate to Conservative and Zionist issues.
In this regard, I have a running commentary on the subject at hand. It is entitled ‘Washington VERY Close To Subsuming The Constitutional Right To Bear Arms….Straight Into Thuggish UN Arms’.
My commentaries, on fast changing events, can be found atop my HOME section. My published op-eds, as you scroll down, are there too. I would be very interested in your thoughts on the above commentary.
I read this the other day
So the UN concocts a Small Arms Treaty that the democrat majority US Senate then proceeds to ratify ?
Certainly a lot more efficient attack on the second amendment than Eric Holder’s and his boss’ bungling attempts in Fast & Furious.
The “poor” appear here as something of an afterthought
Look no further than the latest disaster-relief charade, and you’ll encounter a fleet of new Toyota Landcruisers outside the UN’s operational HQ, a 5-star hotel at a safe distance from any needy and distraught peasants dying messily away from the comfort of hotel valet and concierge services. The vehicles are major bartering tools.
Meanwhile, when you get to where the action is, look up and expect to see US troops abseiling out of helicopters into harm’s way.
Does Romney have an opinion here? Which boxes would Mr. Chairman click?
Well, when the first UN tax collector knocks on my door, he’ll be introduced to the utility of the Second Amendment.
Time to turn off the money tap and kick the UN to the curb.
DESA announced back in May, pre Rio+20, that it would be using education around the world, both P-12 and higher ed, to put its agenda in place around the world. It went on to say this was Sec Gen Ban Ki-Moon’s wish. That might sound like a good thing until you look what the UN is targeting. And the US is following right along in implementing by having the accreditors, who actually operate internationally pushing this UN vision, be the enforcers.
So when you do not understand why your child cannot read, the UN has redefined literacy away from reading to an ability to use print in daily life. Just enough knowledge of desired words not to give people the vocabulary to create their own mental scenarios and frame their own experiences.
That’s just a sample but the UN views the noetic system, a fancy word they prefer for the mind, as a preferred target to get political and economic change. Unlike going after systems of production and consumption, targeting emotions and beliefs and attitudes and limiting the ability to think is far more effective. It’s less visible. It uses the marvelous invention of the human mind and tries to make it an unseen prison, literally trying to shackle human ingenuity going forward. After the displaced businesses ousted by creative destruction might not be as amenable to doing business with the UN’s preferences. Instead of consumers.
Is there any doubt that we are nearing the end times? Israel has been reborn and is thriving amidst the middle east chaos. And the traitors are all around us. They sign treaties that give away America’s interests. They bow to potentates and dictators. They spend Trillions of Dollars and yuck it up about how shovel ready, wasn’t so shovel ready. They thwart business with over bearing regulations. They stop energy production and pursue green schemes that don’t work. They promote everything that is against God’s teachings: abortion, fatherless families, gay marriage and recompense without work. And young people form flash mobs and play the knock out game for the sheer thrill of hurting someone. Our hearts have grown cold. Many who still go to church don’t really practice what their religion says. Its too hard and its inconvenient.
They invite Islamists into the government and they’re “helping” to write procedures against terrorists. And Iran proceeds apace to nuclear weapons and merely wimpers from Western leaders.
Its time to pray and get right with God. For many will be called, but few will be chosen. Some will be taken, and others left behind.
Can we begin by stating the obvious? The poor would not be so poor if they stopped procreating. Haven’t we Americans paid for birth control pills worldwide? I have no empathy for anyone who is seeking a free ride on my earned income. The UN (and obama) is doing nothing more than forcing Americans to work on a cash basis while we stash our cash in private places. Yet, I foresee the national divide as an open door for Americans seeking to hold onto Americanism. We have entered a new age of human evolution and those who did not heed the warnings will have to pay their own way now. Survival of the fittest has become an important faction nowadays.
In the late 1700s this country fought a war to become independent of a king who lived in a far away land. It seems that Obama, Clinton, and others wish for us to go back to that – where the King becomes the UN, Clinton gets to become a high priestess, and Obama gets to be the court jester.
Would you (Clinton, Obama, RINOs, etc.) quit spending and/or pledging money that isn’t yours!!!
I have always found that the UN compares quite closely with one of those “charitable” organizations that spends the vast majority of its donations on salary and perks for senior staff with a pittance going to the cause they espouse.
Ever since oil for food was busted as a flagrant means for lining the pockets of corrupt UN officials they have been desperately searching for a better more sustainable cash cow to plunder.
Can we run this anti American out of the white house now?
Does anyone think he won’t approve of this right away?
He is a cancer on our country (and that is giving cancer a bad name).
It’s amazing, based on a reading of its limited Charter, the powers the UN now arrogates to itself.
But then it’s amazing based on a reading of the US Constitution, the powers that the US Executive arrogates to itself.
Must be something in the water, a planet filled with bored, self-serving bureaucrats into whose heads pop “ideas” who then proceed to turn their organizations to serving those ideas.
Charters and Constitutions be damned.
To solve the problem with poor people, all one needs to do is go after the wealth of all two bit tin horn dictators that live in splendor while starving their people, and demanding that others pay them more to keep their own people in continued poverty.
Amazing, that we put up with this BS.
the un is nothing more than a restroom for thugs and dictators. now, they’re calling the tune for us to dance, while we pay the bills. or, more accurately, billons. every american, republican and democrat should be absolutely creeped out by what has morphed into a bizarre, fascist and criminal organization. the latest being syria running for a seat on the human rights council and they will likely get it.
The countries of the UN consist mostly of corrupt dictatorships, many masking as democracies. The dictators steal from their own people and that is what keeps their people poor. Now these dictators want to steal from the real democracies and are clever enough as criminals to figure out how to do it. The real democracies should pull out of the UN and form a league of democracies to deal with whatever world problems–such as safety of the seas, international health crises, etc.–that need to be dealt with sanely.
I love these author-less reports.
Reality Check: U.N. Wants To Tax Billionaires To Help The World’s Poor?

All I can say is:
It’s name, “the UN,” is ironic
Since it’s obviously oxymoronic
While we forfeit much
We keep giving a crutch
To countries with politics demonic
There, there, Bob. Seriously, you had better get back on your meds.
There is a book out there whistleblowing about how everything truly works within the UN and how the tax payer´s monies are actually managed. The UN has tried to prevent it from being published but it is out there: “U.N. a Cosa Nostra”. Read it and find out what is wrong, what can be fixed and what needs to be eradicated.
