As if there weren’t enough trouble in the world, it’s “Freedom Flotilla” season again in the Middle East. Self-declared “freedom activists” are again maneuvering to score big propaganda points by trying to break the Israeli naval blockade meant to stop the flow of weapons into Gaza — the Palestinian enclave ruled by the Iranian-backed terrorist group, Hamas. In Turkey, such activists are marking the first anniversary of the May 31, 2010 confrontation aboard the Turkish flagship of last year’s flotilla, the Mavi Marmara, in which some of the erstwhile peaceniks aboard the vessel turned out to be thugs wielding clubs and knives. They attacked the Israelis trying to enforce the blockade; nine “peace” activists died and seven Israeli commandos were wounded.
Plans are now taking shape for another flotilla to sail for Gaza, sometime in June. A major organizer of last year’s flotilla, the terror-linked Turkish nonprofit known as IHH, is seeking preliminary applications for people who want to join this year’s excursion to bait and besmirch Israel and support Iranian-backed Hamas. The IHH site lists some who have already signed up, including a number of Americans described as planning to sail aboard a U.S.-flagged ship called the Audacity of Hope.
Whatever the lofty intentions under which some of the dupes among this crowd might sail, the effect is to support the terrorist rulers of Gaza — who have recently, once again, ratcheted up their rocket and mortar bombardments of Israel, and, as clients of Iran, may be planning worse. Which is the reason for the Israeli blockade in the first place. Recall that in 2005, hoping for peaceful coexistence, Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza, forcibly evicting even those Israelis who refused to leave their homes there. The Palestinians of Gaza did not respond with peace. They voted into power Hamas, which is dedicated in its charter to the eradication of Israel. They launched thousands of attacks on Israel. Gaza’s real problem is not the Israeli blockade, or a lack of supplies, but its predatory devotion to the aims of terrorizing and destroying the democratic state of Israel. In the name of humanitarian aid, United Nations agencies and assorted charities have been pouring resources into Gaza for years (much of that provided by American and European taxpayers). Attempts to shred the Israeli blockade do not add up to humanitarian help; they add up to support for terror-loving Hamas.
Isn’t it interesting that there are always things like “Peace Flotillas” or violent demonstrations aimed at Democratic countries, like Israel, but never at countries run by dictatorships like Syria and Iran? The obvious answer is because the dictatorships don’t allow protests and would actually kill the protesters, like the Iranians did in 2009 after their “elections” and like the Syrians are doing now. Shows you what a bunch of gutless turds these “protesters” are. Go for the easy democracy but ignore the homicidal dictatorship. And what are Obama and Hillary Clinton doing about all of this? Why nothing, of course. Their response will probably be to condemn Israel and applaud the protesters as being part of the “Arab Spring.”
Sink the ships. Warn them to stop and if they don’t stop, sink them. It will be an object lesson on NOT messing with Israel. Israel has absolutely nothing to lose and their reputation among Muslims can’t really get any worse. So show the Muslim world that there needs to be an end to these “Freedom Flotillas,” which are basically just another way to arm terrorists in Gaza.

None of them have ‘lofty intentions’, unless the intention of kneecapping Israel militarily by permitting and endless stream of arms and jihadis into Israel is ‘lofty’.
Egypt has opened the Rafah crossing. They will regret that decision. Already the Sinai and Gaza are infested with AQ affiliates. Egypt has been attacked by them before and will be again.
Perhaps the Eyptians have never heard the fable of the frog and the scorpion.
I think Israel is much better prepared this time to intercept the floating circus.
Israel needs to be clear – if the ships do attempt to break the legal blockade the ships will be seized, not sunk. The ships will then be sold (maybe for scrap). I’m not sure how insurance works, but if the ships are not sunk but seized for breaking the “law” then the owners should be out of luck.
It would be nice if that ship of fools sank with all hands.

It is of course refreshing to read that after half a century Israel is belatedly starting to educate the world about the more than half million Jewish refugees who were uprooted around the time of Israel’s birth as a Nation.
Forced out of Arab countries, where these Jews had lived for generations, if not centuries, many of these Jewish refugees arrived in Israel with only the shirt on their back.
It was not sufficient for their former Arab countries of residence to forcefully eject them but the Jewish refugees had to suffer the further indignity of seeing all their worldly possessions illegally seized and confiscated as well.
It continues to this day to puzzle me that beyond the subject of the epic tragedy of the Holocaust so little effort is made to educate the world about the other tragedies Jews have unfairly suffered which if the world knew about them, might create a more balanced picture of why Israel came to exist.
To a large extent the massive ignorance pertaining to the birth of Israel is a boon to those groups who wish to disparage the Jews and Israel.
And turning to the topic of Turkey and its direct involvement in the upcoming June Flotilla, how many people in the entire world are familiar with Turkey’s hand and involvement in the Holocaust, also involving a ship on the high seas.
Though no one can feel anything but regret that people died, less than ten, during last year’s Flotilla fiasco, how many people in the world are familiar with Turkey’s hand in the death of 768 innocent Jews on a different kind of ship- a refugee ship, the Struma, carrying Jewish refugees trying to escape the Nazi furnaces of Europe.

LET THE WORLD REMEMBER THE SHIP, “THE STRUMA”,
That was the WW II ship crammed with 768 Jewish refugees desperately trying to escape Hitler’s gas chambers. With a broken engine and no food or water, the Turks towed the Struma out into the open sea and abandoned the ship and all its passengers, to die. All but one of the 768 Jewish men, women and children did die. They were all effectively murdered by the government of Turkey.

The Struma was a ship chartered to carry Jewish refugees from Axis-allied Romania to British-controlled Palestine during World War II. On February 23, 1942, with its engine inoperable and its refugee passengers aboard, Turkish authorities towed the ship from Istanbul harbor through the Bosphorus out to the Black Sea, where they abandoned it without food, water, or fuel. Within hours, in the morning of February 24, it was torpedoed and sunk by the Soviet submarine Shch 213, killing 768 men, women and children, with only one survivor, a 19 year old man, making it the largest exclusively civilian naval disaster of the war.
The Struma sinking, along with the Patria disaster which preceded it, became a rallying point for the Irgun and LEHI Jewish underground movements, encouraging their violent revolt against the British presence in Palestine.
And the “activist” group in Turkey is waiting for an apology for the self created fate they brought upon themselves in last year’s incident.
When they arrive in Israel’s waters they will see what type of “apology” they receive. It may well require that they be wearing their Life Vests.
In the meantime it would make much sense for Israel to stop allowing itself to be trashed by the world’s mostly anti-semitic press and instead go on the offensive using all its intelligence and creativity to start educating the billions of people in this world who still think Jews have horns on their heads.
They can begin by making a serious full scale film epic about the tragedy of the 768 Jewish European refugees, many of them children, whose only wish was to reach the shores of Palestine alive.
Instead, the government Officials of Turkey made the decision to have the ship, the Struma, towed out into the middle of the ocean, without food, water or a working engine, where 768 Jewish refugees were abandoned to die in a cold, watery grave.
This time nobody dies. Israel defense will not be ambushed again. The flotilla idiots will be stopped.
Everything is going against a repeat of what happened last time. Israeli navy along with experienced riot police, and sayaret, air force, diplomatic offensive including UN.
Some idiots love this summer adventure. So exciting. I think the wonderful victory of fellow idiots getting killed for no good reason was such a rush that they think that they can replicate that again. I think they do not know what they are up against. Just imagine how cool a way to spend your summer when the rest of the family gets a beach house in Florida.
You are being used flotillas. This is going to be more boring, hot, and uncomfortable than you planned for and you will do nothing for anyone.

The previous posters, hit the nail on the head. These so-called “activists” would never have the guts to go near any of the dictatorships surrounding Israel and try to make some type of political protest statement.
They would get there heads blown off immediately if they were among the more fortunate. If not, they would be staring at many weeks and/or months of blood curdling torture in a vermin infested cell that would make “water boarding” seem like kid’s play. And only then would they would get their heads blown off!
The Palestinians, who are treated as fifth world squatters in Syria, not even allowed to become Syrian citizens and have the right to work to feed their families, would cut off their right hand to live anywhere in Israel.
In fact the high quality of life the Jews created in Israel, over fifty years, with their blood, sweat and tears, is precisely one of the chief reasons the Arabs want to push the Jews into the sea and take possession of what the people in Israel created with generations of backbreaking labor.
The enemies of Israel want something they could never create themselves. They just don’t want the Jews around after they replace them.

These “flotilla hyocrites” see their big summer voyage as one highly thrilling and exciting adventure, drunk and intoxicated with the idea that they will be seen as great international heroes who by July 1 will be basking in the lime-light of International celebrity, publicity and stardom, surrounded by fawning admirers begging for their autographed photos.
Doubtless, so runs the Hollywood screenplay racing through the heads of these “flot-niks”, 24/7.
Israel can restore these poor deluded souls to some semblance of reality quite easily and expeditiously. The ships must be intercepted and permanently seized with zero possibility or return to the legal owners.
While all the flot-niks are hoping for a dramatic, violent and bloody confrontation, where hopefully a few flot-niks may even die, (note that no flot-nik ever believes he/she will become one of the casualties), the Israelis will be sure no one is in the least injured.
Every single flot-nik must be photographed, fingerprinted and receive the whole proverbial nine yards of criminal booking under all applicable International Laws of the high seas. Then separated and placed in Israeli jails for as long as may be necessary to bring them to public trial. About two years would be a good start to organize all the evidence and charges.
All participating flot-nicks should in addition to their legally mandated jail sentences at the end of the trial process, be made to pay the full cost, including fines and damages for what their political flotilla prank ends up costing the government of Israel and its citizens- to the last penny.
Finally, all the above information should be highly publicized worldwide, right now, as well as mailed Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested to everyone involved. One of the previous commentators has already kindly supplied the names of many of the chief individuals involved in the June flotilla.
My guess is a very small number of the people planning to participate will decide that descretion is the better part of valour and withdraw. But most will not bow out, convinced from past actions against Israel that they are above the long arm of the Law and that no one will dare try to deprive them of their personal liberty despite all the mayhem they have cost to others.
If the Israeli government handles this situation correctly, taking into consideration that when you spare the rod- you only spoil the child, most of these anti-semitic flot-niks will finally get the message that in this Universe, for every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction.
If even a single boat is returned after being impounded or a single flotilla participant does not do serious hard time in an Israeli jail, then everything said here will count for naught and it is 100 % guaranteed that there will be bigger flotillas in the future.
Once and for all the State of Israel must make certain that the entire world, especially those members of the anti-semitic world understand that the tail does not wag the dog and that even the patience of the Democratic nation of Israel has its limits.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has already fired the shot heard round the world.
Israel will have its first opportunity to be sure that shot was heard by all in the coming weeks. Game time is over.
I am an Israeli and not a rightwinger or a supporter of the occupation, but this
article is right. The flotilla passengers like the writer Alice Walker are “useful idiots” who are supporting the Hamas. Its important to note
that a naval blackade does not prevent food, medical supplies etc getting through to the civilian population. What it does do is prevent weapons getting
through to the Hamas. Befoe the IHH got involved, the Free Gaza group (not
terrorists, but misguided people who wanted to help Gaza civilians) sent small
boats to Gaza. Israel let them through every time. As for Gaza civilians, they too are suffering from Hamas. Last year I met a nurse who works with a
subcontractor of UNWRA in Gaza. She certainly wasnt pro-Israel but she hated the Hamas and said many Gazans hate them too. Why – they are corrupt and
dictatorial.
