UNESCO: Building Bigotry in the Minds of Men and Women

January 23rd, 2014 - 9:14 am

That’s a fascinating admission, of sorts — implying that UNESCO is guided not by principle, or truth, but by “consensus.” And what, exactly, does UNESCO mean by “consenus”? UNESCO has 195 members. There is no sign here that they were all consulted and with one voice agreed to defer to the Arab states. For that matter, both the U.S. and Canada protested the decision to delay the exhibition. In other words, there was no consensus on any side of this matter. Rather, there was a relentless effort by UNESCO to justify an anti-Semitic decision by packaging it in a heap of UN baloney.

On Tuesday, UNESCO disgraced itself even further, trying to deflect criticism with yet more baloney. Out rolled another UNESCO press release, this one saying “UNESCO wishes to reaffirm that the exhibition has not been cancelled but postponed.” Apparently there is now a discussion going on with the Simon Wiesenthal Center, in which UNESCO wishes to “finalize the last points” (what “last points”? The exhibition was in the midst of being set up for a Jan. 20th opening, when UNESCO last week abruptly pulled the plug). The opening date has now been moved to June.

Meanwhile, as UNESCO last week began shunting the Jewish history display out of the way in the name of the “peace process,” the UN in New York, also in the name of the “peace process” was launching an International Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. More on that in my Forbes article on “‘Peace’ and Prejudice at the United Nations” — where evidently some people are more equal than others.

UNESCO is now touting its plans on Jan. 27 to commemorate the Holocaust (or might UNESCO, in the interest of consensus, postpone that, as well, should any member state object?). At least UNESCO is not trying to deny that piece of history. But when UNESCO  and the UN reward and promote bigotry in the name of peace, selectively “postponing” a few thousand years of Jewish history in deference to those who would try to rewrite reality by censoring Israel’s claim to a place in the Middle East, that is a step toward inviting the next Holocaust.

Back in 2011, UNESCO lost its U.S. funding when its members voted to admit the Palestinians to full membership before they had satisfied their Oslo promises to arrive at viable statehood by way of negotiations with Israel. That triggered U.S. laws forbidding government funding to any international body that might attempt this end run. Since then, UNESCO has been lobbying for the U.S. to override its own laws in order to re-open the money spigot and resume lavishing some $80 million per year in U.S. taxpayer dollars (with a quarter billion or so of “arrears” thrown in) on this UN hub of selective “consensus,” which masquerades as a “cultural” agency. UNESCO’s problem — amid the luxuries of its central Paris headquarters —  is not a lack of funding. It is a desperate lack of a moral compass.

Most of the UN recognizes the Holocaust by wishing Hitler succeeded and hoping the Arabs do better; they just won't say it openly.
And much of Europe has their own plan for getting rid of their Jews by banning Jewish practices. They don't mind assimilated Jews, unlike Hitler. But they share a hatred of Judaism.

It's true. Organizations and movements supposedly about "oppression" make good hiding places for people who simply don't like an identity. Also, the less serious the oppression in real terms, the more likely it will be bigotry keeping the ball rolling. Using simple principle to separate one from the other is pretty straightforward, but not if you want to do it.

I laugh at the Palestinians and their supporters. They conspicuously never talk about the heavy-handed and long colonialism of the Turks and Arabs or the 20 years under Jordan, but only the far shorter and less successful Crusades and Western colonialism. That's because identity is all the PA have. If you're the right identity, you can do no wrong. If you're the wrong identity, you can do no right.

Not everyone toes the UN line. As part of a speech to the Israeli Knesset, the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, said this:

"But, in much of the western world, the old hatred (of Jews) has been translated into more sophisticated language for use in polite society.

People who would never say they hate and blame the Jews for their own failings or the problems of the world, instead declare their hatred of Israel and blame the only Jewish state for the problems of the Middle East.

As once Jewish businesses were boycotted, some civil-society leaders today call for a boycott of Israel.

On some campuses, intellectualized arguments against Israeli policies thinly mask the underlying realities, such as the shunning of Israeli academics and the harassment of Jewish students.

Most disgracefully of all, some openly call Israel an apartheid state.

Think about that.

Think about the twisted logic and outright malice behind that: a state, based on freedom, democracy and the rule of law, that was founded so Jews can flourish, as Jews, and seek shelter from the shadow of the worst racist experiment in history, that is condemned, and that condemnation is masked in the language of anti-racism.

It is nothing short of sickening.

But this is the face of the new anti-Semitism"

Is UNESCO part of that face described by the Prime Minister?

The exhibition has not been postponed. It has been delayed half a year to allow for major changes. We won't know what they are until June, if then but I expect we will discover that Jews invaded the country and stole the land from the indigenous Arab Palestinians who preceded them and the Jews have been oppressing them ever since. The Khazars will be introduced along with the argument that even if the Jews had been there long ago the current Jews are not related. Somehow the 'Naqba' will be shoehorned in at the top of a list of pogroms the Jews, who were never there, will be accused of committing against every other group who ever invaded . conquered and occupied, somehow skipping the occupation by Arabs in the 7th century. Despite that, the current Arabs will be portrayed as the real Jews who converted to Islam, presumably because they loved Mohammed.

So much of the Jews claims will be ignored dismissed and misrepresented that the Jews won't even turn up right to the point where 'unknown' arsonists burn the whole thing down.

Seems extremely obvious. The Progressive New Left Activists in America have united their diverse factions and splinter groups around the world to embolden and realize their agenda which has two words: JUDEO-CHRISTIAN!
PNLA's have been at war with America's CHRISTIAN heritage since early 1900's. Leftist Activist's have been at war with JUDEO religious diverse populations around the world since time immemorial...started with Julius Caesar. Today, Judeo-Christian Heritage around the world is under frontal attack and if faith loving citizens around the world don't wake-up to this pagan, atheistic agenda soon, gone from all world religions will be JUDEO-CHRISTIAN teachings and practices. Wake-up America, her RELIGION and MORALITY are under frontal attack. Open your eyes. God Bless America. Join a Tea Party. Pray. Amen.

The time is long past for the United States to remove themselves and all of their funding from the United Nations. The U.N. is corrupt beyond measure and will wither and die in short order without the continued funding of the U.S. It no longer has any credibility, so there is no need to perpetuate it.

The US should stay in the UN, so they can stop the Security Council from attempting military adventures. They should remove all funding, and withhold diplomatic recognition - no more cushy jobs in New York for well-connected third-worlders, which is the real reason the UN exists.

In other words, the US should declare that the UN has no right to exist.

There was a period of time from its birth to the establishment of closer diplomacy between the US and USSR and PRC under Nixon when the UN served a useful purpose. There was a neutral place where the superpowers could communicate, even if the relationships were strained, and avert misunderstandings which could turn into or exacerbate crises.

Once direct diplomacy had taken place, however, the UN began losing its purpose. Some of the associated organizations still do some good, but their efficiency is almost always of third-world caliber. The UN itself is just a place for despots and their cronies and cousins to bilk their people while partying in Manhattan.

It's time to kick them out, and withdraw our own membership. The UN has become anachronistic in a digital world.

I have been through Ralph Bunche's UN papers, and there was never a time when the UN supported the idea of a Jewish state. Indeed they feared it as disruptive to Arab elite rule or "stability." See http://clarespark.com/2009/09/11/oil-politics-and-obamas-view-of-israeli-history/.
