The Gaza Flotilla: Showboating for Hamas
What’s the latest fetish shared by all of the following?
Noam Chomsky, George Galloway, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), UNRWA and Code Pink.
Why of course! They are all cheerleaders for the flotilla of “peace activists” who have been steaming across the Mediterranean toward Gaza, nattering on about their dedication to non-violence, humanitarian aid and “freedom” — as in their grossly misnamed “freedom flotilla.”
Real freedom for Gaza would entail an end to local rule by the terrorists of Hamas, and an end to the endless violent attacks on Israel — which are the reason for the blockade that this flotilla proposes to break. But the “Free Gaza” crowd behind this stunt is apparently not bothered in the least that Gaza operates as a terrorist enclave, or that Hamas receives training and smuggled weapons from Iran. These folks are bothered — very bothered — that Israel does anything to defend itself.
As propaganda, this flotilla is clever stuff. It must be a hoot for the “peace activists,” now embarked on a springtime cruise of the Mediterranean, aiming for the thrill of an high-visibility encounter with the Israeli navy — while simultaneously relying on the skill of the Israelis in trying to thwart this stunt with minimal damage to all involved.
On the Huffington Post this is playing right now as an awesome display of the power of non-violence. That’s a bizarre interpretation of an exercise that Hamas — terrorists dedicated to the destruction of Israel — are waiting to welcome with open arms. This flotilla is not about freedom, not about aid, and not about non-violence. If it succeeds in any way — in what are evidently the twin goals of helping Hamas and harming Israel — it will be an awesome tribute to the power of propaganda. More on that in my column on Hamas Ahoy!.
No doubt there are some starry-eyed folks aboard those boats — launched from Algeria, Greece, Turkey and Ireland — who really believe they are on a voyage of high and humanitarian purpose. There is a long history of useful idiots who will sign on for this sort of terror tourism, uninterested in facts or realities (Remember P.J. O’Rourke’s brilliant tale of cruising down the Volga in Soviet days, with fellow travelers come to admire the paradise: Ship of Fools.) But check out the list of endorsers, and ask yourself if you’d like these folks delivering diktats on your own security, or that of your country.

Much of the world believes that there would be horrible consequences if anything happens to this flotilla…..
A possibly larger group would laugh themselves silly for days and days if every one of these useful idiots were sent to the bottom, nevermore to attend a protest. I know that I’m one of the latter. I wonder what the count would be?
Not that I wish anyone ill or anything, but I can just imagine a recovered flipcam –
Lunkhead: “We’ve been repeatedly warned off, but we’re continuing on past the demarcation line. We’ll be crossing it in 5….4….3….2….1….see, nothing happens. Our strength is the strength of ten because our hearts are…”
***BOOM!*** ***BLOOP!*** ***FZZPTSFBPGA#%!%$!@***
The propaganda of the groups that you mention and others is incessant. There are hundreds of millions of Islamists who believe that the conquering of the infidels warrants any means necessary, there are hundreds of Islamists who believe that the conquering of the infidels is achievable by enclaves and assimilation methodology. The goal of Jihad is the same, these factions only disagree about the methodology used to achieve it.
Tom Gross wrote a good article in the National Post, ”Fancy Restaurants & Olympic Size Pools” (and it has links to many photos showing what a lie all this ”starving Gazans” BS really is). http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2010/05/25/fancy-restaurants-and-olympic-size-pools-what-the-media-won%E2%80%99t-report-about-ga
Useful idiots is the wrong term – how about useless idiots?
On the subject of ships of fools, see “Flotilla of Fools Tilts at Zionist Windmills: Open Letter to Europeans from a Medievalist.”

And people wonder why the West is losing a cognitive war to forces vastly inferior…
So its the typical Communists and Muslims parading around as peace activists, when we all know that should they ever claim total power, they will be as violent as those that came before them. Eh, I could go on a rant on my feelings toward Code Pink, but I think we’re almost on complete agreement on that one. It is really is a shame when you have people that willingly go out of their way to harm others, and do so by aiding the most vile people on the planet (Hamas and their ilk), but it is to be expected by this point. Anyway, good article and I do believe you have the right idea on being concerned with propaganda. However, at least in the States, most people seem to support Israel over Hamas, it is just the rest of the civilized world that needs convincing. That being said, the propaganda will work, however only to those that are naive in the ways of the world (there are way too many people that fit this catagory), or already don’t like Israel to begin with (Its already well known that there are too many people in this catagory). As for the rest of us, we all are wise to the game by this point.

I don’t know what “typical Communist or Muslims” are but I think you may be off on your assessment of the sentiments of American people. The Tea Party is more reflective of American sentiment lately, in my opinion. American government is run by mega business now and as such is by the business for the business and has nothing to do with the national interest of its citizens. American people are waking up to this as they see the wealth and blood of their nation begin squandered and spilled for mega business in the name of “national interest” by the american government [sic]. Americans really do want their government back so as a people, they are primary.
To deny the genocide of the people of Gaza by Israel’s behavior is tantamount to denying the Holocaust which the Jews claim as their own calamity. There is absolutely no excuse for terrorism by and to any nation. Terrorism kills innocent people. Governments pursue their own agenda regardless of the needs of their people. it is said, Israel is the most hated government in the world with the US being second because the US and Israeli governments operate as terrorist as well. Much the governments do is against the Geneva Convention and develops hatred that will continue for eons. No reasonable, thinking American, Jew, or Arab could support Hamas, the US, or Israeli government actions that force people into desperate, no win situations and horrible living conditions. How would you feel if your home was bulldozed, without warning, while you lie in bed? Do you know the story behind the Irish ship being named “Rachel Corrie?” Spend time going through links on Middle East policy and problems.
The civilized world is slowly awakening to atrocities on all sides. The government of the US lies and manipulates truth in the never ending thrust toward insatiable greed of American business along with expansionism. If you are not aware of what I’m saying, it may be you that are naive and the propaganda has been convincing you. There are many reasons people do not like Israel, the US, and Hamas but it doesn’t mean ALL those people are uninformed. The Constitution of the United States was written by wealthy men with the purpose of protecting their interests. Not until Lincoln was there recognition of the need of government for its citizens. It has never truly happened in the US.
As far as the flotilla goes, I may be naive myself but I’d like to believe it is more than a propaganda effort. I’d like to think there are good hearts aboard the ships with good intentions. They carry no guns or weapons of war. Why this “Rosett Report” is so viciously opposed to it is beyond me. The effort is not one of mass hysteria, after all. Humanitarianism does exist. I’d be hard pressed to really believe this is a Hamas propaganda program, although I recognize they could use it that way.
Finally I understand why the US wants Israel on the front lines of this battle. Continuing to fund this welfare state keeps the war front in the yard of Hamas and Arabs while allowing American business to make billions while doing so. If you are a soldier stationed in Germany I sincerely hope you stay safe. I think the war on terrorism is harder to fight than the war in Nam was. However, I cringe at the thought of so many innocent civilians being killed all over the globe in the name of “national interest” of any self serving government lusting for money or power.
To be truly honest I don’t even know where to begin pointing out all the things wrong with your post so I’ll let these two links do it for me;

“There are many reasons people do not like Israel”
How about the oldest and most consistent reason of them all? Israel is a Jewish state. I think you can figure out the rest.
I hope the C-AIR Boat sinks
Maybe Bibi should let them land in Gaza, and keep them there permanently. Might discourage more such flotillas. Hamas may not like them so much after a week or two. I can’t imagine these superior beings not offering unwelcome advice and criticism to Allah’s Chosen Ones.
Hey, Gary! I got a better idea. Let’s attack and kill them in international waters! Yeah, that’s the ticket!
It’s nothing a well-placed torpedo wouldn’t solve.
Wealthy well fed Europeans and Americans vactioning in other people’s misery. These people are despicable and dangerous; their anti semitism and anti Americanism are very well displayed. The Irish might have an excuse after all they absolutely wallow in terrorism in between getting peace prizes from Norway. Israel should stand up to these soldiers of Allah and not let them spread their vicious world view on anyone but their rich friends in Washington DC and Los Angeles.
Lori Berenson will probably join them as soon as Peru kicks her out.
Hmm, flotilla for Hamas/Town Hall screechers and tea baggers. . . useful idiots all.
I believe it is time for Israel to adopt the “Hotel Hamas strategy.”
Allow the useful idiots to land, let them deliver the humanitarian aid with the guaranteed photo ops, then quietly retain them as permanent citizens of Gaza. I’m reasonably confident this would decrease demand for the Hamas cruise lines.
Last thing they remember, they were
Running for the shore
Trying to find the passage back
To the place they were before
‘Relax,’ said the Israeli navy,
‘We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave…!’
Letting them land but not leave is brilliant. Those rich fools would soon tire of the game.
Checking the internet, this has received very little coverage in the USA, and I haven’t seen much of it on British sites, even the BBC. Which is not to say that the Nazis at the BBC won’t cover it, but so far, it has not been the publicity boom for the Islamonazis they hoped it would be.
And frankly, I’m surprised, given that Nazis basically run the European media.
It would be funny if the women on the flotilla had to don black burqas before landing.
Real Poetic Justice would be if they all were kidnapped by Somali pirates…
I implore Nepture, God of Water and the Sea, to rise up and smash these boats into a billion pieces!!!
And be sure to bring along hammerhead and Great White sharks to um, witness your greatness!
Real freedom for Gaza would entail an end to local rule by the terrorists of Hamas, and an end to the endless violent attacks on Israel — which are the reason for the blockade that this flotilla proposes to break. Speaking of useful idiots. I would love to see what you thought real freedom for Gaza was in 1990. I’m pretty sure it was continued occupation and increased settlement building.
IDF radio is reporting that some of these usefull idiots tried to grab weapons from the sailors boarding the boats and were shot. Conflicting reports about the number of dead and wounded, but the Jerusalem Post says 2 dead and many wounded.
I personally am very happy that the IDF responded as they should to this provocation, and was not afraid to shoot when necessary. There will be a huge media storm at first, but now the “peace activists” will know that there is a price to pay. We’ll see who has the guts to try this again.
Well, it seems that you got what you wanted, PJMreaders. 10 dead, 60 wounded, no weapons confiscated. Just like at Kent State, eh? Good ole times, good ole times.
Are you disappointed that no Jews were killed?
So if I were to assault you with a crowbar or a slingshot flinging marbles you would not consider me armed? Cool, you really are as stupid as you write… Fool
Also, the ships have not been searched fully. So your claim of no weapons is completely wrong and premature. But that was your aim I suppose. Get the meme out there as fast as you can. Blithering fool you are.
Without hearing more, I’ll venture a preliminary guess.
About every 40 years, useful idiots from the activist Left get a hard reminder that you don’t attack police, you don’t attempt to grab their guns, you don’t challenge bulldozers, you don’t sling rocks at military, or burn buildings in a stoned stupor when you’re told to stop.
Like some idiots at Kent State learned 40 years ago, you attack people with automatic weapons enforcing the law, it never ends pretty. And after the propaganda and false crimes of victim hood die, and the U.N. and their toadies raise hell attempting to mask their intense of hatred of Israel under the guise of humanity, reasonable will recognize justice was served.
Some people just need killin’. Right? Guess we all get to decide who those people are.
No weapons confiscated ? Some of the dead had guns on them. “Peace activists” with guns and knifes assaulting soldiers. Why not…
I am with Norwegien and await how you all are going to try and spin this.
Uhh, somebody needs a refill on their latte.
Dear Dr. Bones,
The kiddies, like their kiddiemistresses and their kiddiemasters, only enjoy showboatin’ and swiftboatin’ when they get to dish it out. Oddly enough!
Since the whole m’gillâ is a Planet MacL@@han production for the Y@@ T@@B, nothing of importance is likely to come of it.
Still, an objector might object that everybody laughed at the geuex de mer back when they were just getting stated.
¡Anchors aweigh!
Well said, Claudia – and nicely placed ad, see Croatia, “The Mediterranean as it once was”…They wish.
Smuggling takes place on land, as well as via sea. The flotilla are purportedly bringing what the Gaza Strip is in short supply of. When what they are purportedly bringing is compared with what is smuggled into the Gaza Strip, I say that Hamas is engaged in a form of genocide.
So, where is the case before the International Court of Justice on this file?
All I see is a lot of rubbish that has to be removed.
The toppling of Hamas in Gaza is simply unacceptable for those who base their identity on being anti-Israel. So, anything to delay that day is acceptable in their sight.
Why do they do this? Because their actions would be found
wanting by the standard of a free Gaza.
