It would be an act of mercy for the planet were Jimmy Carter to hang up his carry-on bag and devote the rest of his days to annotating his post-presidential grocery lists, or maybe sign up for Dancing With the Stars — anything where he might at least do no more harm. Instead, in some eternal quest to live out that second presidential term which American voters in their belated wisdom snatched from him in 1980, Carter goes on and on, glad-handing thugs and hugging terrorists, from Caracas to Gaza to Havana. According to recent news reports, he’s now planning another trip to North Korea — possibly as soon as next week.
Not that North Korean tyrant Kim Jong Il seems to regard a visit from Carter as much of a trophy these days. In 2009, when Pyongyang was haggling over terms for the release of two Al Gore employees who had moseyed onto North Korean turf, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, North Korean officials turned down a potential rescue mission by Jimmy Carter. In a memoir about her months as a prisoner in North Korea, Ling records that North Korean officials were infuriated by her suggestion that Carter be enlisted as the high-profile American to come retrieve her. They viewed Carter as washed-up and out of office for too long — a retread unfit to grace a photo-op dignifying Kim Jong Il. “Carter, Carter, Carter!” one official told her. “You have upset many people by asking for Carter.” They held out instead for the bigger prize of a visit by Bill Clinton.
Last summer, having captured another American, Aijalon Gomes, North Korea did agree to let Jimmy Carter come get him. But Kim Jong Il didn’t bother to stick around for the visit. Carter had to make do with a reception by North Korean nuclear negotiator Kim Kye-Gwan.
This time around, with North Korea reportedly holding yet another American in custody, there’s speculation that this latest prisoner will be released to Carter — as part of what’s becoming a hostage-politics routine in which North Korea’s regime turns over American detainees, like door prizes, to visiting American ex-presidents.

Claudia, two doddering, slobbering nuts in pajamas …feeding their own egos and cutting deals that neither side cares enough about to verify whether the imbecilic terms and conditions are met…just about sums up the entirety of leftist foreign policy for the past forty years.
And, while I realize it’s a typo…I would GLADLY settle for us to be glad-hanging the murderous tripe that Carter fawns over and for whom he plays the willing stooge, the bagman and the stamp of approval for their “free and fair” elections and treatment of their own suffering people.
In fact, I’m going to adopt that phrase as my own…if I have your permission. Glad-hanging. I like the sound of that….I would love to take that on the road…to Hamas, Hezbollah, Damascus, Tehran….
What an excellent article!
Poor Jimmy exemplifies the dolt who commits himself to a perpetual illogic; life in a dimension of chaos, in which Chance is the sole etiology. As self appointed Mahdi he purports to have all the answers all the time; when he doesn’t even understand the questions.
But see how he was the forerunner, the one who prepared the way for The Obamanation. Like Obama, he inflated the economy to disastrous proportions. Like Obama he seriously weakened our defenses. Like Obama he appointed despicable bozos to positions of power. Like Obama he kow towed to evil rulers of rogue and enemy nations. Like Obama he presided over mass unemployment. Like Obama he did nothing to control illegal immigration.
You know what, folks! Jimmy Carter is nothing but an old, white, Barack Obama!
“Jimmy Carter is nothing but an old, white, Barack Obama!”
Old, sure, but by the standards of the American South maybe not perfectly white. Troll the internet and see if you can find a photograph or a description of JC’s daddy. Accurate information about Carter Sr. is about as hard to come by as information about BO’s birthplace.
Are Carter’s parentage and Obama’s birthplace important? Only for what they indicate about the character of the two hypocrites-in-chief and the competence of the journalists who shill for them.
One can’t help but wonder how Carter feels about his “Worst American President” title slipping away.
How about “WORST AMERICAN”!
Maybe this time they’ll keep the cracker….
Jimmy-I-never-met-a-dictator-I-didn’t-like Carter may someday be replaced by you know who in the White House. The M.O. of enabling the nation’s enemies and dissing the friends just could be a common bond of further disservice. But wait, there’s more, Jimmy has to be a speaker at next years DNC convention. Maybe he will bring Michael Moore and Hugo Chavez and toe dance the new century of socialism.
Who pays for Carter’s jaunts?
Do Secret Service staff accompany him?
Does he fly commercially, do we taxpayers pay for Business Class?….or do we taxpayers lay on a sole-occupancy aircraft from the White House transport pool for that presumably shorter Great Circle Route?…… saving a bit of fuel?
Does he claim some sort of deduction from his income tax for U.S. “business”?
These aren’t idle questions.
The old fool gets Secret Service protection for life. Also, $199,700 annually as a pension (All ex- Presidents get this)
The reason Jimma’ just loves Obama……. he is no longer the worst president in history. He’s a much happier camper now.
A character in Law & Order was explaining why he hung out with his gangster client. “I climb macho mountain and it feels good.” The same could be said of Carter. He hangs out with tyrants and dictators and he climbs macho mountain.
Jimmy Carter is the ultimate superannuated twit. A man so wrapped up in his ego that he really thinks what he says or does is important. He is basically an evil man who enables brutal dictators to bask in glory. It is time for America to ignore him and leave him to the slobbering liberal government media which adulates him.
And now a special message from former President James E. Carter:
My presidency was not a failure. In their wickedness, the American people refused to sacrifice themselves as I commanded. Rosalyn and I have devoted the remainder of our lives to punishing this evil nation for its sins against us. Their is no recourse. You have brought this upon yourselves.
Well, just to brighten everyone’s day: In 4 years or 8, there will be an ex-president Obama to joint with Carter to make diplomatic merry for decades and decades. Elections are the gift that keeps on giving, folks.
Billy Beers for everyone! Hand me that circular saw, would ya?
Odysseus: That would be January, 2013 or 2017. But please consider that his megalomania may impell the Imposter-in Chief to pronounce himself Imam or Ayatollah of the Universe and strive to retain control even at the expiration of his term of service. He may claim not to have a birth certificate on the grounds that he was sent directly from heaven to save us all. Well, all moslems, of course.Oi, vey!
If he refuses to go, who will get him out of there? And how shall it be done?
“If he refuses to go, who will get him out of there? And how shall it be done?”
U.S. Marshalls, I should think. No beer parlays this time.
Convince him that the presidency is insufficient for a man of his talents. It probably won’t take that much convincing.
A few years ago Joshua Muravchik had an article in Commentary asserting that Carter was the worst ex-president in history. I immediately fired off a letter to the magazine, which was printed, denying that. John Tyler, I pointed out, was a member of the provisional Confederate congress and was elected to a seat in the first Confederate congress, although he died before he could take office. I maintained that participating in organized treason made Tyler the worst ex-president.
However, Carter is certainly the second worst. And given whom he seems to like and feel comfortable with, the Israelis should be proud that he obviously detests them.
Good point Alex, but 0 is coming up at the three-quarter pole
Did you know Carter thought Khomeni would be the next “Ghandi of the West?”

I can think of no worse torture than for KJ II to have to sit and listen to Jimmy Carter. To think that the liberals complained that water boarding was unconscionable torture!
Jimmy is almost a bad as James Buchanan but I think he is slipping to third place in the battle for worse Presidents in American history. Obie Jihad Mao is giving Buchanan a good race for the title.
The Smiling Eunuch cannot help it. It’s preprogrammed. He’s the goober version of the Eveready bunny. A failure as a farmer, a failure as president and an embarassment as (sic) elder stateseman. It’s a shame that he did not serve on the SSB Thresher.
Myself, I have no problem with Carter going to North Korea. It’s his returning to America that I object to. Wish the NorKs would keep him.
If we’re really lucky, Jimmah will bring Justin Bieber with him as an additional special envoy. The NorKs deserve the concert that was previously denied them.
A year or so after Ronald Reagan died, I saw Jimmy Carter interviewed by Tim Russert in connection with the publication of one of Carter’s (too) many books. What I found amazing was how angry he still was at Reagan for having beaten him over 20 years earlier! And over the years of observing Carter’s behavior when around some of the most evil people currently walking the face of the earth, I began to think he really hates Americans and his country. Now, I think the answer to why Carter panders to these enemies of the U.S. is because he is still really, really angry at the American people for not re-electing him. Hell hath no fury like that of a president scorned!
Perhaps, in my wildest dreams, someone will “out” JC as a deep undercover agent for the CIA on a quest to discover the darkest secrets of Kim’s “nucular” program. Kim can then hold the peanut farmer for ransom and we can finally see how much (or how little) the USA will pay for Jimma’s return.
Can’t we all just agree to cancel Jimmy Carters’ passport while he is still out of the country? It would be such poetic justice!
Maybe, the peanut brain from Georgia will recall that North Korea still olds a US ship – the Pueblo…..and maybe, Jetting Jimmy will be able to swap something for our ship…Or is it that Americans don’t recall the seizure of that ship ? Interesting dilemma !!
