OK, So Let’s Call It the Axis of Supreme Leader and Great Leader

April 10th, 2013 - 2:27 pm

“Axis of Evil” is a phrase rarely heard in today’s political debates. But however you characterize the two remaining charter regimes of that trio (“evil” seems to me quite accurate)– North Korea and Iran — there is definitely an axis there. The more you look, the more you find, from conventional weapons traffic to a long-running partnership in proliferation, including interlinked procurement networks, and the Scientific Cooperation Agreement these two governments signed last September in Tehran.

But here’s an aspect of that axis that few in the West now seem to recall. It didn’t begin with President George W. Bush linking the two countries in a post-Sept. 11 speech. It goes back much earlier than that. It’s an axis that specifically received a joint and personal stamp of approval more than two decades ago from North Korea’s founding tyrant, the late Great Leader Kim Il Sung, and Iran’s current Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Great Leader and Supreme Leader met in person in 1989, when Khamenei traveled to Pyongyang, to lavish praise on Kim Il Sung for daring to confront the Great Satan, the country that Khamenei described as their mutual enemy, the United States of America. Khamenei told Kim, Sr., that anti-Americanism could be “the most important factor” in Iran’s cooperation with North Korea.

To this day, the Kim family totalitarian regime continues to explore the limits of just how much regimes profoundly hostile to America can get away with, and Iran avails itself of the findings. This grows ever more dangerous, as North Korea discovers it can carry out long-range missile and nuclear tests, threaten to incinerate Washington and Seoul, advertise its intentions to conduct additional tests, and the U.S. superpower will do … nothing that actually stops this trajectory. More about this in my column on “The Pyongyang-Tehran Proliferation Playbook.”

Here they are, up close, hand-in-hand, the Axis of Supreme Leader and Great Leader, Dateline: Pyongyang, May, 1989. (Khamenei was then president of Iran; he became Supreme Leader following the death of Ayatollah Khomeini, less than a month after this meeting in Pyongyang took place.)

I bet if these two countries opened up to the IMF and the trilateral commision they would suddenly become a non-threat. Just one bank in each capital is all it would take to begin the fiat money scams in their countries, loaning worthless paper money for intrest and printing money out of thin air backed by nothing.

After all of Obombya's wars in the mid-east and africa did anyone bother to track the gold, prescious metals, and oil, that were stolen from those countries?
hmmmmmmm, I wonder who will be stuck with the bills for these neverending wars and rebuilding the countries that have been destroyed and polluted with billions of rounds of DU fragments?

North Korea is free to test the boundaries because no one takes them seriously, or at least we won't until it's far too late. And Iran isn't the only one who uses the Norks for this purpose. China and Russia are also watching very intently. The final set of dominoes are being set up all around the world, but the question is - how long will it be before He decides to knock them over?

" Frum interprets Roosevelt's oratory like this: "For FDR, Pearl Harbor was not only an attack—it was a warning of future and worse attacks from another, even more dangerous enemy." Japan, a country with one-tenth of America's industrial capacity, a dependence on imports for its food, and already engaged in a war with China, was extremely reckless to attack the United States, a recklessness "that made the Axis such a menace to world peace", Frum says. Saddam Hussein's two wars, against Iran and Kuwait, were just as reckless, Frum decided, and therefore presented the same threat to world peace."
Now we have a movement that lost the election in 2012 because they had too many members preaching Roosevelt axis of evil with Obama and what they now call the old guard of the GOP
yikes!

Then i wonder if the modern wacko isolationist lived at Roosevelt's time and Roosevelt convince them to go to war they wacko foam at mouth: Bomb Soviet Russia and Japan and leave Hitler's Christians alone because we invested our treasure with them

Well, the Germans took it out of our hands by declaring war in support of Japan. If Hitler had any brains, he would have condemned Japan's attack, but he was hoping for Japan's support against the USSR..

Didn't you pay attention during the 2008 campaign CR? ABM systems don't work, Iran is not a threat and there is no Axis of Evil.

One may have thought he was the 2nd coming of Jesus and the other the 12th Iman in fighting the " Great Satan" in 1989. Now they both have become pragmatist , Kim Sung reading all the dusty books for the next 500 years and i do not know anyone praying for his soul. Pray for Ali Khamenei he now makes peace with western great Satan I believe as western begins to repent before the True God I pray
