I’ve worked for a small NGO the past couple of years, both in Central Asia and Iraq, and have had the opportunity to work and partner with various UN orgs in both places. The amount of waste I’ve seen is absolutely stunning. We were able to help rebuild entire villages for the same amount of money that some of their mid-level program staff were getting in salaries, expense accounts, and ‘free’ travel.
