I have to agree with Mr MacDonald. It’s frustrating to see the US cough up the dough to pay for this ridiculous (a generous term I feel) organization. I’d LOVE to see the US just declare that it unilaterally is severing all ties to the UN, but this is probably politically unobtainable. I’ve said in these pages before that a new “UN-like” organization that only permits democratic countries would be much more palatable. I doubt it would be a panacea, but it would remove from political influence those regimes that do not deserve a voice in the world arena. It would have the added benefit of de-legitimizing the world’s tyrannies. This would go a long way I think to bringing true human rights to those people in this world who are now denied them.
