BTW, one of the main reasons the US fought the huge dues we were paying is because all the constructive suggestions and analysis we insisted on to prevent just these kinds of scams were treated with hostility and contempt from the very people who have been enriching themselves at the UN trough. It was the only lever we had to try and get all the third-world con men and flim-flam operators out of the institution.

Considering what a muddle your thinking is, I can only imagine you are a college student, probably on America’s dime. Why don’t you return to Burma and “speak truth to power” and expose the corruption of the junta so the world can understand, brave one? Did you fly over to Burma to take care of your own family, or did you leave that to anonymous NGO’s and the UN? Or perhaps you feared that you couldn’t get back into paradise if you left?

At the least the UN should have made a big stink about what the junta was attempting to do with this scam; but I don’t think they were even smart enough to know they were being had.
