Until the world is shed of the tyrannical regimes that rule the middle east, religious, secular, political or whatever the opportunity for any kind of democratic governments taking hold are very slim. Maybe Iraq was an aberration of history. I’m not faulting President Bush and I wish the Iraqi people all the luck in the world in getting their country headed down the road to true freedom and capitalism. But they are surrounded by other countries that are run by dictators…Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Syria, Yemen and Sudan come to mind and those countries are eager to export their terrorism to ensure that the democratic style of government never takes hold in Muslim countries. Encouraged on by Russia, China and N. Korea and seeing that the U.S. has a weak and submissive President they actually have no incentive to change their ways. Yes, President Bush’s vision for freedom in Iraq may be unfolding but it’s going to be a very very long time before any other country starts down that long and bloody road.
