Ahmadinejad and New York Maid Service
September brings the annual opening of the United Nations General Assembly, and sure as nukes are nukes, that means Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will again be coming to New York. UN sanctions on Iran notwithstanding, this will be Ahmadinejad’s seventh performance from the UN’s main podium — not counting his appearances in recent years at UN conclaves such as an FAO food summit in Rome, Durban II in Geneva, and last year’s “nonproliferation” conference in New York.
Ahmadinejad’s UN-enabled access to Manhattan and the UN stage is quite bad enough. But the outrages keep piling up. The UN General Assembly this September is planning a festival of treats for Ahmadinejad and his ilk. On Sept. 22, the same day on which he is scheduled to speak in the General Debate, there will be a Durban III “commemoration” of the 10th anniversary of the anti-Semitic 2001 Durban conference. There may be a General Assembly resolution attempting to conjure a Palestinian state infused with terrorists who, like Ahmadinejad, are dedicated to the eradication of Israel. And, special icing on Ahmadinejad’s U.S.-subsidized UN cake, Iran this September will take up a post as one of the 21 vice-presidents of the General Assembly.
Various intrepid souls are doing what they can to counter this. The Hudson and Touro Institutes are planning to oppose the Durban III jamboree with a conference that same day, featuring speakers such as Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel, former ambassador John Bolton, academy award-winning actor Jon Voight, and former NY mayor Ed Koch. And a former U.S. envoy to the UN, Mark Wallace, now the head of United Against a Nuclear Iran (UANI), is urging New York hotels to refuse rooms to Ahmadinejad and his entourage. Wallace notes: “International law requires only that he receive an entry visa, not maid service.”
Which brings me to a thought about the incongruities of diplomatic courtesy, as applied these days to those who visit New York on errands surrounding the UN and its related institutions. Recall the case just three months ago, when a hotel maid accused the then-managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, of sexually assaulting her in his New York hotel suite. That case fell apart. But not before New York cops had marched Strauss-Kahn off a plane, in handcuffs, to face justice.
Compare that to the handling of Ahmadinejad. Granted, there’s no sign that he’s in the habit of personally assaulting New York hotel maids. He has bigger plans. When he arrives in the room of a New York luxury hotel, to attend the festivities at the UN, he is there to advance the goals of a regime that has bombed, butchered and tortured its way to power and influence, bankrolling and arming terrorists, plotting to strangle and subvert western democracy, threatening to wipe Israel off the map, and pursuing weapons of mass murder. Is that, perhaps, at least as bad as allegedly assaulting a hotel maid?
Yet, Ahmadinejad when he jets into New York, receives official U.S. cooperation and extravagant security, courtesy of U.S. and New York taxpayers, to ensure that while he is in the U.S. — toiling away to damage America and its allies — he is safe from any harm, or for that matter, safe from any justice. I’m sure there are elaborate rationales for why this should be so. But in plain and simple English, it is wrong.

Maybe this year he surprise us by wearing a cravat.
For thirty odd years the people of Iran have been misrepresented. It is bad enough dealing with the Hezbollahis as we call them in Persian in Iran. But the English speaking world never referred to them by what they themselves wanted to be called by. Ayatollah Khomeini wanted to rename Iran, and the seminaries in Qom do not like Teheran. Cut a long story short, the seat in the UN is not taken by an Iranian but by a Hezbollah representative with no respect for Iran, and more respect for Qom theocrats. As you say the Hezbollah has killed Iranians and yet is being treated as if he is an Iranian. He represents Qom, Najaf, Karbella.
Ali – The people of Iran are our friends – Mahmoud “little Hitler” Ahmadinejad and the ruling class there are evil.
Well said Ali Mostofi and Dave both. We need to bring down this terrorist evil regime that is occupying Iran and taking the entire Iranian nation hostage. This evil regime will NOT suffice to taking total control of the middle east region, it’s goal as plainly and clearly has been detailed over the years is to take a total control of the entire world gradually but surely. In between the conquest many upheaval, wars and lives need to be sacrificed, because Islam needs this sacrifice.
Truly an evil sick regime with a deadly cult.
We American people need to wake up now!
I have to wonder…if in the near future Iran decides to act on it’s desire to take out Israel…will we wring our hands over the fact that we should have taken the opportunity to take him out, when we had good reason and justification… just as we’ve done over Hitler?
We all know what happened when Hitler was left in power, when after his invasion of Poland then France…he should have been taken out. And many millions would have been spared.
Is history willing to repeat itself with the world just standing by again?
There is a lot of very nice real estate available in Dubai along with great airline connections to the entire world. That would be a lovely place to move the UN without US membership and taxpayer dollars to be replaced by a Convention of Democracies.
It really is time to end the tyranny of the majority consisting of dictatorships, Islamists and freeloaders. It does not make us any friends and has absolutely no positive sway on the world political or economic realities. One or two agencies do provide value, but even their roles are filtered through corruption and cronyism. They would well be replaced by direct aid.
You forgot to mention that Ahmadinejad’s regime also systematically oppresses women, forcing them to adhere to Shariya law. In most cases, any woman who claims (or is discovered) to have been sexually assaulted faces a stoning or lashing. Rape is often a death sentence.
This makes the comparison to the treatment of Dominique Strauss-Kahn even MORE horrendous!
American lawyers helped build Sharia Law into the Iraqi constitution, which all but opens the door for a future Shi’ite Theocracy of Muslim Fundamentalism. The Sunnis of Iraq overwhelmingly oppose implementing Sharia Law into the new democracy but, the Shi’ites Muslims won the battle; that means the Iraqi nation, government and laws are now subject to the laws of Sharia.
How on earth can the majority of Americans tolerate this and not demand that their politicians and president take a strong principled stand? And why do they not vote them out if they keep pampering scoundrels like President Ahmadinejad?
We need to politely ask the UN to leave the United States. And the United States should leave the UN, who has wholeheartedly embraced the contrived “green” agenda. (Green = Red, as in communist, redistributionist) We see so much corruption in the governments of nations, can you only imagine the corruption if the UN’s Agenda 21 and George Soros’ open borders become the law of the entire world.
But what I really want to know is if Gaddafi from Libya is going to be coming? Could you imagine, just imagine, if he came to New York City under UN protection? I don’t think Obama could stand the embarrassment. Just think what the press, as well as the Republicans, would do with that. But I don’t think even Gaddafi is that stupid. Or is he?
Or is he that smart?
You are all idiots!
Is it your preference something tragic happen to a visiting high ranking person from any country on US soil?
Unless we can move the UN in a few days, we’re stuck Barbara.
Actually, as much as I hate to say it — in this case protection should be left to the professionals. He certainly should not be bringing his own armed security detail and he needs protection from the many people who would love to kick his a**. Myself included! Living in a civil society, if we decide to continue to allow the U.N. to be here (which is likely a big mistake) we have an obligation to provide security for abhorrent foreign representatives with proper diplomatic credentials.
But in plain and simple English, it is wrong.
It is wrong. Hugely wrong. Arachnid-jihad ought to be handcuffed and frogmarched to jail the minute his ugly little foot sets itself down on US soil.
The situation is a metaphor for what “The UN” has gradually become, Arab/Islamic enabling and Israel bashing. (That is when it’s not holding wildly expensive and self-indulgent meetings at exotic spots around the world on topics like “global warming” and figuring out ways to make so called “rich” countries pay poor countries reparations. Or when its largely useless “blue helmet” guys aren’t raping young girls in Africa.)
America, you pay about 22% of this institution’s total budget.
This is at least the 3rd year A’jad has done this little trip. The first year, he claimed to feel the room infused with light as he was delivering his little diatribe to the Assembly, you know, ASIF the Mahdi himself had popped up to stand behind him.
Admanutjob from “Iran”- but not from the real Iran – is being allowed to go on parade once again. The U.N. have gone far enough … this anti-American behemoth needs to be booted out and the funding stopped.
The U.S. funds (25% plus of their budget) and they use U.S. services and generosity to attack the U.S.A.’s strongest historical allies and the ONLY democracy in the Middle-East. Unilateral declarations by “palestinians” (read, the OIC) do NOT constitute a valid reason for us to host an anti-Semitic-fest on our own shores.
Shame on us.
Every candidate for Federal office should be asked what they plan to do to stop our taxpayer dollars from giving aid and comfort to our nation’s enemies.
Article Three Section Three of the United States Constitution: “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”
Actually, I would be happy if we just shipped the entire UN off our shores and cut off their money. It is beyond ridiculous that we subsidize this organization dedicated to ending us.
Until the people of America see this insanity for what it is, and treat it as such, they will be going insane simply because the only way to live with madness without going mad, is to reject it.
Giving aid and comfort to our enemy is not what we Americans find being hospitable , we look stupid again. Let the creature know he is on his own when he arrives in New York.
I wonder What stops US citizens from simply demanding we withdraw and shut down the UN and the UN can move to whichever country they want – Riyadh for e.g.?
Support for the UN is declining within the US. But the political decision to withdraw is in the President’s hand, while Congress has to block the funding. But Obama is in thrall to international organizations; that’s why he acceded to the Arab League’s request to intervene in Libya, and he did so with UN sanction; but he never bothered to get Congressional approval. As far as Obama is concerned, they don’t count. As to the Congress, they’re mulling cutting aid to the Palestinian Authority and the State Department is pressing hard not to let that happen. What chance is there of a cutoff of UN funding?
Where the UN might go after losing US participation is an open question. The diplomats would want a nice Western country with all the conveniences – a Geneva or Oslo, for example. But I think they should locate based on membership and prevailing ethos. Perhaps to an OIC country – say, Karachi or Cairo. Or if not an OIC state, perhaps Havana or Caracas. Then again, given their recent history, perhaps they should just move to … Durban.
I’m all for the UAN (United Arab Nations) being booted out of the United States instead of it’s present mission of providing a bully pulpit for Ahamdejad, Chavez, and their ilk. Also it’s on valuable real estate and could be best used for promoting AMERICAN CAUSES.
Michael Moore made this same point in Fahrenheit 911 when he complained that the US Secret Service supplies security to the Saudi embassy in D.C. But what’s the alternative? These foreign dictators, if allowed in the US, require security. In fact, the more hideous they are, the more security they need. If we let them provide their own security, D.C. and New York would be full of foreign soldiers walking around with machine guns. Do we really want to allow every tinpot despot to strut around Georgetown or Greenwich Village with his personal militia?
Yep.
If we bring them here, we are responsible for their security, like it or not.
Who would we rather running around with Uzis?
1. Some well-trained American Secret Service agents, who are accountable to OUR government under OUR laws, OR
2. Some poorly trained and unintelligent officially sanctioned terrorists in uniform, who are under diplomatic immunity.
That’s a no-brainer for me.
Of course, in the case of our enemies, why are we bringing (or allowing) them here in the first place?
Get the UN out of the US! And, stop funding it.
“JEDDAH, Ramadan 1/Aug 1 (IINA)-During the next few months, Washington plans to host a coordination meeting to discuss with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) how to implement resolution no. 16/18 on combating defamation of religions, and how to prevent stereotypes depicting religions and their followers; as well as disseminating religious tolerance, which has been endorsed by the UN Human Rights Council last March, in agreement with Western countries. The resolution was adopted after lengthy discussions held between the OIC and countries in which the phenomenon of Islamophobia is in the rise.
The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had announced the intention of the U.S. State Department to organize a coordination meeting during her participation in the meeting which she co-chaired with the OIC Secretary General, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in Istanbul on 15 July 2011. The meeting issued a joint statement emphasizing the dire need for the implementation of resolution 16/18.
According to informed sources in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the two sides, in addition to other European parties, will hold a number of specialized meetings of experts in law and religion in order to finalize the legal aspect on how to better implement the UN resolution.
The sources said that the upcoming meetings aim at developing a legal basis for the UN Human Rights Council’s resolution which help in enacting domestic laws for the countries involved in the issue, as well as formulating international laws preventing inciting hatred resulting from the continued defamation of religions. “
Ahmadinejad, should not be allowed on American soil, this man is a terrorist that has sworn to destroy America. While you refuse him permission to be here, throw out the rest of the rotten bunch of terrorist at the UN and tear the building down.,
The Bush Administration was negligent

Obama got Bin Laden.
Dare we hope that Obama will arrest Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and put him on trial or ship him off to The Hague?
The UN is always an interesting spectical when these sorts of visits happen. Who can forget Fidel Castro bravely coming to the UN in the late 60′s after twice (and perhaps more times) thwarting assassination attempts. Drama at it’s highest!
Hey, let’s have Seal Team 6 provide his security, if you know what I mean…
