Will Hillary Democrats Actually Vote McCain?
According to a new poll from Planned Parenthood that was commissioned through Peter Hart, 50% of of American women in key battleground states don’t know John McCain’s record on women’s reproductive rights. By the time the general election rolls around they will. Hillary Democrats may be mad now, but I’m betting they won’t scuttle their daughter’s and granddaughter’s civil rights on the altar of anger. McCain has voted against affordable family planning, cancer screening for low income women, sex education, and a host of other women’s issues, including ignoring the importance of equal pay.
Wow, just left hillaryis44 and they’ve already started to trash you big time!! … .. – Thomas
These die-hard anti-Obama voters are now spanning out across the internet, with Sean Hannity happy to play up the divisions on Hannity & Colmes. He featured a woman from “Just say no deal” that has sprung up where anti-Obama zealots can register. Their pitch is “if you thought you were alone, you’re wrong.” What they intend to do to change the outcome of the race is unknown. Getting on Fox is easy if you’re slamming Obama. Making an impact on the ground is hard.
But again, will these people really vote for John McCain?
I will NEVER vote for BO. I think we don’t know anything about him, as we do her, and this is just a popularity contest initiated by teenagers who would vote for 50 cent if given the chance. I was here for the post primary caucus and was subjected to a terrorizing night of having to guard ballots for three hours from the militant BO supporters because they did not allow us enough time to close the polls before the caucus mob pushed their way into the building. This is a clue of what is to come. I don’t want anything to do with it. There will not be any McBush signs in my yard, but I will not vote if need be… – CD
…His membership in his church speaks volumes about his real views. 20 years cannot be washed away. I will vote for Mc Cain. – JG
Or will they not vote?
It’s a long way to November.
Yet I’m also starting to hear a few voices rising, more and more everyday, who know we’ve got to find a way to heal. It’s all about Hillary Democrats getting respect.
I’d take it one step further. It’s about Hillary being shown respect from Senator Obama, his team and the entire Democratic Party who stood by silently while the media sexism boiled over without one peep from the political party who is supposed to be a champion for women’s rights.
In the end only Hillary can bring her supporters back into the fold and over to Obama. But Barack’s going to have to reach out to Hillary to make it happen.
The Democratic Party needs Hillary more than they know and her supporters are going to make sure they don’t forget it.

“Hillary Democrats may be mad now, but I’m betting they won’t scuttle their daughter’s and granddaughter’s civil rights on the altar of anger.”
What planet does Taylor Marsh live on? Barack Obama may be well meaning—but he still remains a very dangerous man. Voting for the less than perfect John McCain is nonnegotiable. Does she think that Islamic extremism is a myth created by allegedly evil neoconservatives and big oil executives? This ideological feminist stuff is of secondary importance. Muslim nihilists make the late Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson seem like left-wing Unitarian-Universalists! Obama simply fails to comprehend the greatest existential threat of our age. That is the number one reason why he must be defeated on Election Day. Let’s keep our priorities straight.
I believe in the end most Hillary supporters will vote for Obama. This is just a temporary temper tantrum of not getting their candidate. On election day true democrats will vote democratic, no matter who the candidate is.
SAF,
“This is just a temporary temper tantrum of not getting their candidate.”
That is the attitude that got Democrats into the fix they are in. The “Oh…The girls are just having a hissy fit, but when they are done they will get back into the Democratic kitchen like good little girls.”
“On election day true democrats will vote democratic, no matter who the candidate is.”
The “true Democrats” the ones who are JFK/FDR Democrats are leaving the party in droves-I resigned from the party in 2001. Yes, I was a card carrying member of the Minnesota DFL. I also have worked as a seargent-at-arms at a convention and worked on the Carter, Kennedy and Clinton 92 campaigns. My best friend and her mother are both voting for a Republican for the first time this November. Her mother is a retired California Democratic party official who was at the Ambassador Hotel when RFK was assassinated. She has been a delegate and had worked on every Democratic Presidential campaign from 1960-2000.
I guess you must mean the “radical left Marxist Democrats”.
“I believe in the end most Hillary supporters will vote for Obama.”
Why would they do this? A vote for Obama, for all a practical purposes, is a vote on behalf of Islamic contempt for women. Isn’t it peculiar that Taylor Marsh did not even mention this worldwide crisis? Has she even spent one moment of the past year addressing the concerns of feminists like Phyllis Chesler? Something very bizarre is going on.
The majority of Democrats seem utterly indifferent. Can anyone explain this insane behavior?
Its pretty simple. Even if you can somehow delude yourself into discounting and explaining away Obama’s…ahem…radical associates and fellow travelers, the fact remains that the man is not ready to be President. He has not had enough experiences, successes, and yes losses to understand what it means, and handle what it is, to be the Chief Executive Officer and Commander in Chief of a country simultaneously as great, diverse, rich, poor, terrible, and powerful as the United States was, is, and will be. Disagree with Hillary’s and McCain’s positions on this or that if you will, at least they are, for the most part, ready; at least as ready as a Senator can ever be, taking into consideration that Senators have not generally made great Presidents.
Someday Obama may be ready to be a great President. But not today. Nor tomorrow.
Hillary said what she had to say for her own political survival. She’s already moved on to 2012. I take her at her longstanding word, Obama is a poor candidate, the weaker candidate, and that he’ll either lose to McCain in November or drag the Democratic Party down in the polls worse than Clinton did in the first two years.
All I know is, this will be the first election where both sides of my family (me, my husband, both sets of in-laws, both sets of siblings and spouses) will be voting for the same candidate. If Hillary had been the nominee, it would have been just about an even split, with undecideds hanging on until the last minute.
I wonder how many mad Hillary Democrats there really are. Obama got a small bounce in the polls after Hillary got out of the race. If they were significant in numbers I think McCain would have seen the bounce.
I’m sure there will be Democrats who are put off by Obama’s close links to radical leftists like Ayers, Dorn Wright, Pfleger, and Farrakhan to want to play it safe and pull the lever for McCain.
Being from a household that voted for Hillary and supported her strongly. The male is going to vote for John McCain, but the female is just not going to bother voting. She doesn’t want to vote for Obama so she just isn’t going to make the time to show up.
I really don’t know what part of Obama’s history has not sunk in with you. Why would anyone dismiss the fact that he was a part of a radical group in Chicago and attended a racist church for 20 years? He is not running for city council here. You can spin it however you wish and know I don’t agree with a lot of McCain’s policys but I will be voting for him just to vote against Obama. This is a great country we live in and I am sick and tired of hearing what a mess the experienced leaders have been for this country.
Don’t be dense. Obama is a sexist dunce. If he crashes in November, it sets the stage for Hillary in 2012. She’d be unstoppable. Of course, you could all just be good sports, gals, and vote for the charismatic man that the experienced, deserving woman got dumped for.
What’s particularly contemptible is the link to the hatchet job on McCain’s divorce. Leaving aside the slanted tone and priggish indecency of the article – based on material which was first pushed in far right circles, I believe – no one who claims to support Obama should be dredging up material from 30 and more years ago. People who live in drug-using, Communist-mentored, raised-Muslim-tho-denying-it houses shouldn’t throw stones – and that’s just the “formative” years.
If it took eight years of Bush to get us to the point where Democrats can bring themselves to support Obama, maybe four more years of McBush will get us to the point where Democrats would even be willing to support a woman.
Ladies,
Have you read McCains record on voting against practically everything that was beneficial for women’s rights??
Can you justify to your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren that you
supported a party that has practically destroyed our country and made them victimns for decades to come??
It is not just womens rights that is at stake.
It is the future of our country.
You just cannot support another four years of Bush’s policies.
“American women in key battleground states don’t know John McCain’s record” I love how partisans like Marsh automatically vilify any Republican on ‘women’s issues’ in a country where women enjoy unprecedented freedom of choice and ignore the vial misogyeny of the Middle East and Africa as ‘cultural’. You know, the countries Obama is so willing to appease.
On primary day in New Hampshire, a Gloria Steinem op ed in the New York Times told readers that Obama was young and could run for President in eight years. It was Hillary’s turn.
Sure enough, Hillary won NH. Causal connection? Coincidence? I can’t really tell because the Gloria Steinem column though widely read by feminists went uncommented on by pollsters and columnists.
Racism and sexism will end just as soon as we do away with stupidity and ignorance; i.e. never. Iowa was the high point of post racial America, but then Reverend Wright stunned white America by showing that not only Black Muslims hated whites and America, Some Black Christians did too. Father Pfleger was more of the same B “Liberation Theology” but he also took on Hillary and chasms formed between the races and the sexes.
When people become angry, they reach for the most wounding words they can think of. There’s been a lot of that in this campaign and there will be much more.
Hillaryites will use any verbal weapons they can find against Obama and I plan to help them with all the opposition research I can find because I think Obama is THE most dangerous leftist to ever run for President.
Obama’s a liar (google 28 Obama Lies and by all means visit his Fight The Smear site. The allegations he doesn’t answer are most telling) and a fraud: he’s actually an Arab-American. Yes, Dad was born in Africa but Dad was 87.5% Arab. and then there’s Odinga, his cousin in Kenya and the Christian men, women and children locked in a church and burned to death. (google Odinga Obama) and an empty suit lost without a teleprompter (Obama in Bristol, VA on Youtube).
Obama has the mainstream media on his side. We have the Internet, talk radio and Fox News. Obama has a blissed out segment of the population that may or may not come out of its trance but there aren’t enough blissies for him to win.
McCain may not have soaring rhetoric on his side but it was his fight for the surge in Iraq that turned the war around. Obama hasn’t even been to Iraq in almost 900 days nor has he ever met with General Petraeus. Commander In Chief? I think not. McCain risked his candidacy to do the right thing. That says a lot.
McCain also has a long history of being a porkbuster which President Bush has not been. As President, he would veto pet projects out of the budget. He’s “the sheriff” not Miss Congeniality.
“American women in key battleground states don’t know John McCain’s record”
Really? “Womens issues” is code for “supporting abortion” here. I think it’s ridiculous to pretend that women in this country might not suspect that a Republican is not a supporter of abortion. I also don’t think that’s the only issue for women.
As a women, I’d rather have a guy who has a belief that life begins in the womb (which I understand both sides of this debate. Can’t we just admit that reasonable people can differ?) versus a guy who thinks female reporters and candidates running against him should be dismissed with comments like “sweetie” and a host of other misogenistic crap. I’m not sure what will happen, but a lot of dem’s who had never considered voting Republican are considering it this year and that’s got to worry Obama, if he has a brain in his head.
As a dem for 40 years my decision to not vote for Obama is simple. His is not qualified to be commander in chief. He has no record of accomplishments, is unable to make decisions regarding his close associations, he is frightening naive and cannot be trusted in the Oval Office at ’3:00 AM’. This is clear to dems like me. The DNC had the fix in for Obama from the start with the MSM, NBC and CNN, as their co-conspirators. Of all the more-than-capable candidates the Democrats had to choose from, they pick this upstart, inexperienced, dirty politician from Chicago mob politics, with no experience and no clue about history. Just words! Threats about Roe v. Wade, or Social Security, or the SCOTUS are just words, just fear mongering. We will see if these Dems can grow a spine in the Dem controlled congress first, we’ll see if they are capable of using their power to select judges, pass legislation, work across the aisle to achieve something. Obama is nowhere near ready for this challenge, just words, and many of us will vote down ticket, but will never vote for Barack Obama.
I don’t have a dog in this fight. I’m a Republican who doesn’t like McCain and would never vote for either Obama or Clinton. I can see no meaningful difference in their positions. Both would run away from Iraq as soon as possible. Both would open the border and support amnesty for illegal aliens. Both would raise taxes. Both would pander to any ethnic, racial, religious or gender group that might provide a few votes. The only substantial difference is whether it would be more historic to elect a woman or a Black. The only thing that the reaction to Ms Marsh supporting Obama proves is what I’ve known for years, Democrats are very good haters. The passion and venom on the left is unmatched by anything on the right. Not even the most ardent McCain supporter looks on any of the Democrats or their voters with the contempt that fellow Democrats regularly show.
Have fun in Denver. If you don’t tear each other apart, your bastard step child, recreate68, will be there to demonstrate the true character of the Democratic Party. I’m looking forward to it.
What a fascinating political show we have going on. We have an unqualifed black man who has captured the media (or the media has captured him), hypnotized the young and liberal, and at least 90% of the black vote and has been accused of sexism We have a strong woman with lots of baggage who represented to many women the culmination of 40 years of hard work and who would have been the best candidate for the general election, but was thrown under the bus in favor of the ultra-liberal greenhorn. We have many McCain supporters, like me, who are very wary of Mrs. Clinton but nevertheless respect her for how hard she fought back – she never gave up. And, now, we have the HIllary democrats which, if it stays together, may be a critical block of votes for one of the candidates. And this is the fascinating point: will the Hillary democrats who have fought tooth and nail to gain and preserve abortion rights vote for an older white male who has consistently been pro-life. You couldn’t make this stuff up.
I’m not sure what Hillary voters do in November. Obama’s platform is much closer to Hillary’s than McCain’s, especially on the Iraq War.
OTOH, it’s true that Obama is one of the least prepared major candidates I can think of and his background in a racist church and the hard left will all be worrisome to some Hillary voters, and rightly so. Then again, the Democratic voters who supported Obama have had little trouble ignoring Obama’s deficiencies to a degree that I consider irresponsible.
I’ve been a registered Democrat since McGovern. I voted for Hillary to stop Obama. I’ll vote McCain in November.
Since I first voted in 1984, in presidential races, I’ve voted for Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, and in ’04 voted Libertarian because both candidates were awful.
There is absolutely no way Obama gets my vote. I’m from Chicago; you DO NOT get elected as an honest man or woman in Chicago. Obama pulled dirty lawyer tricks to win his first election by eliminating other candidates from the primary ballot ( http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/chi-070403obama-ballot,1,2228553,full.story ) He has no qualifications to be President. He is the most left-wing Senator in the U.S. Senate by voting record … further left than Ted Kennedy! How is that man going to usher in “a new kind of politics?” McCain, who has never toed the Republican party line, is far more likely to be effective across the aisle than Obama is.
The man is a rookie Senator from the most corrupt big city in the most corrupt state in the country. (Where else are federal corruption convictions of top political aides pretty much routine? What other state has had 3 governors in prison in my lifetime, with the current Governor very likely to become #4?) He’s good-looking, a fine orator, and in my judgment the most dangerous major candidate for President in my lifetime. I’ve never been truly frightened about my candidate losing a race, until now.
Dennis from Chicago
Now before I get shot down at the race issue I just want to say that this is just FYI. Race does not matter but I believe a lot of people don’t realize that Obama is about as black as McCain is. I cannot take the credit for this statement but I did do some other research and found that this was true.
“Barack Hussein Obama is not half black. If elected, he
would be the first Arab-American President, not the first black
President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side and 43.75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side. While Barack Hussein Obama’s father was from Kenya, his father’s family
was mainly Arabs.. Barack Hussein Obama’s father was only 12.5% African
Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father’s birth certificate even states
he’s Arab, not African Negro)”
This statement was from another blogger here on Pajamas Media so I do not take any credit.
As I said before race is not an issue but if you are going to speak of race you should definitely know the correct race.
“I’m a Republican who doesn’t like McCain”
I don’t particularly favor John McCain—but it is foolish to believe that he isn’t far more preferable than Barack “Barry” Obama. The Republican candidate mostly has his head together regarding the threat of Islamic terrorism and the selection of federal judges. No, he is definitely the lesser of evils.
As I said before. I might not vote FOR McCain, but my only other alternative is to stay home and simply not vote, which is likely what will happen.
The holier than thou attitude is one of the biggest things that turned me off(see the “temper tantrum” comment). Women have been dismissed.
Obama needs to do more than convince folks like me to not vote for McCain – he needs to convince us to vote FOR him. If we stay home, he loses.
Want to see a “hissy fit” – as one of the commenters put it – then watch what happens when we lose this election…the one that was tailor made to win.
Maybe you’ll have more respect in 2012 for what we bring to the table.
Glad to see so many comments expressing their grievances.
Obama is bad news on all fronts because to know him is to hate him.
Taylor Marsh must be drinking the kool-aid. Thankfully lots of moderate and conservative Democrats are not. This black household of long time Democrats is voting McCain. We do not need an inexperienced candidate with creepy associates, a weak foreign policy and voodoo economics.
And can we please stop with Roe v. Wade canard? It’s insulting to imply that all Democratic women put abortion over national security, the economy, energy policy etc. Does anyone seriously think it will be overturned considering the long line of Republican Presidents that haven’t been able to change it. Even conservative justices like Scalia who personally are against abortion have tied hands.
The far-left has hijacked the Democratic party and with the blessing of Dean, Reid, and Pelosi (Hopey, Dopey, and Mopey) and they have “selected” (yes, ignoring the voters in Florida and especially Michigan) a totally unqualified and flawed candidate.
And Taylor Marsh is following right along like a sheep being lead to the slaughter. She misrepresents Hillary’s speech as a ringing endorsement of Obama (it was NOT!) and offers up the same tired rhetoric (think it’s tired now??? wait until August and October!) for not voting for McCain.
Democrat leaders think these defections (unprecedented in modern presidential elections) won’t effect the outcome, that they will “come home” in November, that they can win without them with a higher youth and black vote….and they are simply dreaming.
Some people put the country before politics and party. Too bad Taylor Marsh isn’t one of them. She continues to spread false rumors for the “puppet masters”… the machine that is Chicago politicos and Washington insiders.
http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/06/13/breaking-hillary-definitely-has-not-released-delegates-call-to-action/#more-3019
I laugh thinking about August in Denver.
I cry thinking about September.
I wail thinking about November.
I pull my hair out thinking about January.
I weep for my country with these two nominees.
Hillary’s voters will all vote for Obama in November. As one poster already observed, this is just a temporary temper tantrum.
The real examination that Hillary supporters to engage in is that the reason we are confronted today with an Obama is because Hillary was such a bad choice to begin with. For 8 years, you have all assumed that Hillary would have a cake walk, and you did nothing to develop the next generation of Democrat leaders. You were all in complete denial of the simple fact that when most people got a real good look at Hillary, her complete lack of likeability became manifestly obvious. Yet what were the alternatives? No one took seriously the tired retreads like Dodd or Biden. John Edwards? Please. The environment was tailor made for a smooth talking nobody, with looks, youth and a message (Hope! Change!) that resonated with the far left voters of Democrat primaries. Add to that the fact he was black, and Hillary voters were faced with the perfect storm. You have no one to blame but yourselves for not looking for a real candidate when you had nearly a decade to do it.
I happen to know that this is the first election in 30 years where every member of my extended family but 1; cousin’s, aunt, uncle, grandfather as well as my parents and siblings, are voting Republican in November. In a family of 18 all but that one have already decided McCain when 6 of them voted Democrat since the sixties (those of voting age then) and the 4 of the younger members voted Democrat in every election as they grew into voting age. I have been eligible to vote since Clinton’s first term and only voted Republican in the last election. I’ve had a fundamental shift in my worldview since 9-11 and living abroad. But, its only those who voted Republican in the past who are maintaining their voting habits and Dems who are shifting in this election. There is allot of time between now and the election but I think it just as likely we can get that one family member to change her mind as there is a chance that any of the regular Dems would change their vote to Obama.
You are a scallywag!
Most of these comments deal with the reasons to vote for one or another candidate. The thing that strikes me as most interesting about this nomination process, is not who should be the nominee, but how the nominee is actually being decided.
By any standards except identity politics, Senator Clinton is still a strong candidate. In the six primaries running from Pennsylvania, including North Carolina, Indiana, West Virginia, Oregon, and Kentucky (I haven’t seen percentages for the ones after that, except Puerto Rico), Senator Obama outspent Senator Clinton three to one, within the fragmentary information I have. By hugely outspending his opponent, and still having the better organized campaign, he managed two solid victories, one marginal defeat, one solid defeat, and two obliterative defeats. I mean, 35% and 40% losses?! That just doesn’t happen between serious candidates.
It’s been obvious for months that neither candidate would get enough pledged delegates to win the nomination. The superdelegates will decide this. Part of their job is to reject candidates who can’t get votes. Senator Clinton has been killing Senator Obama at the polls, in spite of his huge funding advantage. He’s still ahead in delegates only because of the caucuses, in which the superior organization of his campaign gave him a big edge. When people voted, he’s never done all that well, and has recently been getting pulverized. Arguably, it’s the job of the superdelegates to reject Senator Obama, and support Senator Clinton, who has been getting votes.
The reason Senator Clinton is out of the running, is because of the identity politics. If Senator Obama doesn’t get nominated, a big chunk of the black community will go into revolt. The Democratic Party is critically dependant on it’s near-monopoly of black votes. For the Party to alienate a substantial chunk of the black vote, would be a lot like hitting the “self-destruct” button. It’s only for this reason, that the Party has to nominate Senator Obama.
That’s all very well, but poses the possibility of several types of backlash of its own. I’m not sure what’s going to happen from here. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this, that they wish to share?
Johnm said:
“Hillary’s voters will all vote for Obama in November. As one poster already observed, this is just a temporary temper tantrum.”
This is exactly the kind of snobbish comment that will ensure I DO NOT vote for Obama. Losing is one thing; being dismissed and told we’ll be good little Democrats anyway is quite another.
What should worry folks like Johnm is whether there are enough of us to turn this election in November. I hope there are – then maybe you’ll learn to show a little respect in 2012.
I can’t stand either Obama or Clinton and don’t know if I can bring myself to vote for McCain as the lesser of the evils, but my girlfriend thought Clinton was the least horrible of the options and can’t stand Obama. She’d have voted for Clinton, but absolutely refuses to vote for Obama and will sit this election out instead of voting.
I hate to pile on, you know, but here it is: Mr. McCain will win in a Reagan-size landslide. You underestimate the common sense of the electorate, who know a Marxist racist freakshow when they see one.
My worry is that Hillary will nobly accept a VP slot, thus sacrificing her own career to prop up the less qualified, younger man. Here are some petitions against that:
http://pumaparty.com/nohillaryvp/lets-ask-hillary-not-to-accept-vp/
I imagine some feminist supporters of Hillary will vote for Mccain despite his supposedly poor record on women’s right because (1) They still like some of Mccain’s other policies (2) they grudgingly admit Mccain is the lesser evil (3) out of spite to teach the “sexist” Democrat party a lesson (4) they feel like “race” trumped their cause, which is “gender”. Harriet Christian (I think) made a point to whine about how Clinton was sold out for an “inadequate black male”
After the anger fades away though, most of them will probably vote Obama in the end. But 10-15% (the ones who are especially bitter) will indeed cross party lines. Maybe if Mccain chose a woman VP he can attract just a bit more.
Why can’t you accept history? Do you have a horse blind?
Carol and McCain took the dance for almost 3 years after McCain’s return. Carol even admitted that the her own “spark” for McCain was no longer there given her conditions. She and McCain became best friends in those 3 years. McCain, in respect for Carol, didn’t immediately divorce her, he knew even if Carol would agree to it, she would be hurt of the separation. Knowing McCain’s situation and being love In his love for McCain, she let him go… which was the bravest thing to do.
So there! But McCain left Carol in April 1979 with almost all his possessions went to Carol to ensure Carol’s welfare and their 2 adopted sons.
Even the separation, McCain has been a constant support to Carol and their 2 sons and vice versa. When McCain lost Bush in 2000 Primary, Carol and her 2 sons showed their true care for McCain.
Sorry, because of that, McCain has become truly a Maverick.
By the way, Bush later regretted that story and separated from his campaign manager who fabricated that lie. Why are using the same materials of Bush? I thought you hate him?
Obama says McCain is running for a third Bush term, and McCain says Obama is running for a second Jimmy Carter term. Point: McCain. Obama is everything Jimmy Carter was – the nice guy with no guts, unable to lead. Personally, I can’t stomach either of these nominees and intend to sit out this election or perhaps write in Hillary’s name if the NJ absentee ballot allows me to do it. The only thing that will get me to vote Obama is if HRC is on the ticket. I will vote straight Democratic on the down ticket.
“Unity” seems to be breaking out all over. The Governor of Ohio wants no part of the Obama ticket. Congressman Boren (D) of Oklahoma is not endorsing Obama. A Wisconsin delegate to the Democratic Convention has stated her intention to vote for McCain. Some Democrats in Tennessee are not sure if Obama is “terror connected”. The messiah is bringing the party together!
Just because a candidate has a Democrat “label” does not mean he/she gets a free pass for my vote.
I am not voting for Obama out of anger. I just feel he is not qualified to be Commander and Chief period.
I am tired of Roe vs. Wade being used as political hand-cuffs to keep Democratic women in line. Talk about the politics of fear. I find it tantamount to saying that they might legalize slavery again.
I am choosing the best leader for my country and that is McCain. Hillary earned my support and Obama has not. Loyalty is not transferrable.
Emily,
I hope you are right. If Hillary voters turn out in sizeable numbers for McCain, the election will be a landslide, and we’ll all be better for it. The last thing we need is one party governing the Senate, Congress and the WH. Look how well that worked out under W.
My experience, however (which has nothing to do with being a snob, but rather with being a conservative living in the hopelessly liberal NJ)suggests that the liberal democrats (most of my wife’s friends and 90% of my community) who were going to vote for Hillary, will, come November, be unwilling to punch the ticket for a Republican. Once you have been treated to four months of non stop media worship of Obama, and non stop media bashing of McCain, you will convince yourselves that Obama is your man after all.
I hope you prove me wrong.
Could she do the unthinkable and run as an independent? Lieberman did it and won. Different circumstances, but she’s got the “testicular fortitude” to pull something like that off.
I’ve witnessed a lot of Primaries but even in those that were contentious, I have never seen the depth of division and feeling that this one has engendered because it has been perceived as tainted and unfair in so many ways.
Since the 2000 debacle still smarts, I can’t imagine that all will be forgotten and forgiven within a few short months.
we have survived stupid presidents many times, but i doubt we can survive one as smart as obama.
Taylor,
You poisoned the well against Obama. This is your fault. Your commenters reveled in the sickness of Ted Kennedy, and you had to delete them. They celebrated the death of Russert.
You were so nasty against Obama for so long, so hateful, that how are you surprised that your followers can’t turn on a time like you can?
If you go to the John McCain Forum ( http://johnmccainforum.com) they have a special section just for Hillary supporters. It’s sickening. Some of them want Hillary to be McCains VP, like they discuss on this thread:
http://johnmccainforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=918
YEP, we’re gonna “scuttle our daughter’s and granddaughter’s civil rights on the altar of anger.” Call it what you want- We’re voting for McCain.
Ugh, I cannot read liberal/left writing. It’s so juvenile and annoying. Taylor, grow up and learn how to write.
That is an excellent question. In return I’ll ask: “What evidence would you accept now that we will in fact vote for McCain over Obama?”
Some people are already tearing up their Dem cards and donating to McCain, but most of us are waiting till after the convention to do that. We’re still donating to Hillary’s campaign fund to pay off her campaign debt, or to various PUMA sites, or to Heidi Li’s “The Denver Fund” (see her blog Potpourri).

The DNC, Pelosi, and the Obama’s patronizing and phony
praise of Hillary Clinton are nothing more than insincere steps
to get some of Hillary’s 18 million voters to vote for Barrack.
These people are so pitiful. maybe some of Hillary’s supporters
will fall for it, but most of us see it as adding insult to injury,
and we are voting for Senator John McCain in November.
I have been a democrat for all my life but not this year.I hate a fake and Obamma is one.My vote goes to Mccain
If you people think that racisiam is not a factor in this election your only fooling yourselves. You will see in the end of this election that racisiam will wipe Obamma`s ass and you will see how racisiam wil never go away untill the blacks quit being racist.
I feel that no matter who wins this election this country will stll be the same o same o, because for the past 20 years both parties hate each other so much, that they will never, ever, work together again.they are both poor losers and it seems that when the election is finished at it is time to go to work, for the people of this country, they will just sit on their asses and do nothing unless their party gets the credit. Maybe its time for no one to vote.Wouldn`t that stir up the world? all and all i feel that obamma will lose by more votes then ever in history and the reason is because the black race has maid it a racist election, and untill THEY, forget about color, racisiam things will never change for the good.
Thereis to much hate in this world today, but what the hell do I know, I`m a 65 year old fart.
I think Hillary and the Clinton’s themselves are fanning the flames using their supposed voters.
I think most of this supposed Hillary voters are actually Republicans.
Please give this a rest, I am soooooooooooooo tired of the Clinton. Get over it you lost!!
Also has it actually occurred to the HILLARY VOTERS that she would never have won the US presidency anyway pegged against a Republoican? Half of the American public cannot stand her and when did she became the champion for women’s right? what exactly has she done for women?…her blind ambition to become president puts the welfare of the American public last on her list. I think she is responsible for the continue speculations hoping to hurt Obama, but in the long run I don’t think it will benefit her, its better for her to fall into line.
Obama didn’t make her loss the primary, she lost it becuase of poor management of her campaign. If she cannot manage her own primary campaign or keep her husband in line, think what sort of president she would have made….I think it was a lucky escape for the American public
