Why All the Smart People Say Obama Is a Great President
Yes, right now things may not look so good. Joblessness is still on the rise, huge debt threatens us, Iran and North Korea are going after nuclear weapons unmolested, and now racist children-haters are trying to convince you that health care reform will be a huge, horrible boondoggle. But if you get worried, you just need to remind yourself that Obama is really, really smart. Everyone who is smart says so. So if things he does, like support the re-installation of a socialist proto-dictator in Honduras, seem strange and confusing to you, that’s just because you’re trying to understand it with your stupid brain. If you had Obama’s smart brain, you’d understand how this will all work out in the end.
Many of you have blind faith in your invisible sky fairy, which science proves does not exist, so why can you not have faith in Obama (who is real) and all the things that smart people believe in? And did Jesus ever promise you free health care? Sure, some claim that Jesus healed a few people, but Obama is going to heal everyone with his free health care. And he also promises the new health care programs will somehow lower debt and create jobs. As any smart person using logic will tell you, that’s way more miraculous than anything Jesus did. So why not give Obama your unquestioning devotion?
You don’t need to understand how increased spending will help a country in debt or how increased taxes on energy will help a failing economy, you only need to know that Obama is much, much smarter than you. So obviously his solutions will work much better than anything you troglodytes would think he should do. If you could just have blind faith in Obama’s brilliance, you wouldn’t have to worry anymore.
To help you with that, Obama has started having “Look How Smart I Am” parades through various cities so everyone can see how smart he is. If you are smart, then Obama should appear very smart to you. It seems like a good idea, but the last one was marred when some kid yelled out, “The emperor has no brain!” and started laughing at the bucket stuck on Obama’s head. As I’ve explained before, Obama isn’t an emperor — yet — and the reason he had a bucket stuck on his head is that he was quite curious whether his head could fit inside it. Smart people get curious about many different things. If you were smart, you’d recognize that a bucket stuck on his head is in fact a symbol of his genius. And you’d stop laughing at him.
Why do I even try to explain these things to you idiots! How about this: If Obama is as dumb and inexperienced as you think he is, then how did he get elected president? Ha! Explain that one, dummy!

Now wait just a gal-darn minute. This ain’t the first carnival to come through town. Ever few years a new outfit comes through with silver-tongued devil promising rain and prosperity but it ain’t the ground that gets wet, nor the crops that start to swell. Just like all the other times, this new group of rolled into town and we tried to send them on their way. But the youngin’s and them with a college education won’t stand for it. They’d been hoping for change and darn if they’ll let it get away now. So they set up the freak show, the ring toss and a brightly lit midway. Everyone comes out to see and it all seems so rushed. But soon the summer is ending, the show packs up and heads out. The them go the lights, the jobs, hope of a better life. Left behind are broken dreams, empty pockets and more than a few hopin’ that change isn’t showin’. And them educated citizens, well they say it’d all turn out better if we’d just had a little more faith.

I don’t have a problem with people who declare that Obama is smart. My problem is that Obama believes what people say about him. I would rather have some empirical evidence than rely on what people say. I can tell you what I think about Obama, but my impressions are largely subjective. Our president lacks wisdom and has very little capacity for self-introspection. He is unprincipled and cannot be trusted. His base of common knowledge has holes in it. He’s a dangerous ideologue. And most worrisome, Mr. Obama appears to suffer from a personality disorder. But it’s nice to know that a dumbsh*t like me has a constitutional right to say these things.
This essay is actually a thinly veiled viscious attack on President Obama. It is very sarcastic. While you pretend to admire his talents and intellect, you are, in reality, making fun of him, aren’t you? I am sure that many of my gifted and intellectually superior colleagues will see this piece for what it is. Here in academia we are quite familiar with artful phrasing and nuance. Dear people, wherever you may be,
I’ve just finished rereading Atlas Shrugged for the third time. The first two times (a long time ago) I applied its lessons to the collapse of the Soviet Bloc. Now Ayn Rand’s work seems more pertinent than ever due the events unfolding in my homeland.
The reason I say my homeland is because I’m an expatriate American English teacher living in South Korea. I’ve been living and working in the ROK for twelve years, but I still send in my absentee ballot for presidential elections every four years.
What I’ve been seeing taking place in the USA since January 20 is making me more upset by the day. The mounting deficits, the growing and dangerous dependence on China (many South Koreans are very jittery about China) to finance those deficits, the talk of instituting new (VAT and a big one at that) taxes to help cover those very same deficits, the bailouts of GM, and particularly Chrysler, the attempt to remove choice and private enterprise from the U.S. health care system, the stimulus that went mostly to government drones rather things that would really stimulate, and above all, the despicable behavior of the mainstream media in covering up Obama’s real Chicago background. I had to go and find the red star at the top of William Ayers website all by myself!
All these things have made me very alarmed concerning the future of my country. So I’ve reached one overriding conclusion: it’s time for Americans to revolt against royal authority for the second time in 234 years.
I say this because I don’t believe the traditional legislative process can stop my country’s slide towards the comfortable euthanasia of West European-style socialism. With the idiocy of Bush to guide them, the Republicans have done a very creditable job of taking Dirty Harry’s 357. and pointing it at least at their feet, if not their heads.
So it’s time to revolt. This will be a difficult idea for many Americans to grasp. After all, we are the product of a culture that has been based on the rule of law from its very beginnings back in medieval England.
What I’m talking about is starving the Government Beast. Come next April 15, 2010 don’t send in your tax forms. Refuse to pay! If you’re a small businessman don’t pay your state (If you live in California, New York, or New Jersey, this applies especially to you) or federal business taxes. Don’t pay your licensing fees! When the Bush tax cuts expire in 2011, don’t file! Simply don’t feed the Beast!
If you’re worried about prosecution, there’s safety in numbers. If ten million Americans refuse to pay, the looters can’t possibly oppress more than a very small number of people. If ten million small business people refuse to knuckle under to the New Jealously Class, then the Beast will be truly crippled and will be forced to beg for mercy. View your refusal to pay blackmail to the looters as a civil rights issue along the lines of what inspired Martin Luther King during the civil rights movement of the 1950s and the early 1960s. IT IS NOT YOUR PATRIOTIC DUTY TO PAY HIGHER TAXES! In fact, it can be considered a form of treason to file on April 15, 2010.
Anyway, this has happened before. What most Americans don’t remember or never learned is that in the run-up to the American Revolution the British backed down twice over the issue of taxes. Parliament repealed both the Stamp Act and the Townshend Acts in the face of fierce colonial protests. Remember, the looters don’t have the mighty Royal Navy behind them, or ranks of hard fighting British Grenadiers, all they have in their favor is the willingness to submit of a people who have been comfortable for far too long.

#138 Jim Baker – A high IQ does not allow one to own the world. One is outnumbered and rejected by the masses. It is actually an obstacle to wealth and power. It can be overcome, true, but it is more of a handicap than an asset, because one is swimming against the tide.
The people who generally end up in charge are those whose IQ’s are a bit higher than the average (90-110), but below genius (140). They share the thought patterns of the common man, but can outperform him. The common man accepts them, because they don’t make him feel grossly inferior. Nerds and geeks are generally rejected.

To VelvetElvis and Anonymous: to be honest, I have no use for any of these cable “commentators,” even the ones that on the surface might agree with me on more issues than not. Actually I pretty much gave up on TV news in general a while back — it just became too aggravatingly padded out with less and less actual content, sort of like a half weather “report” that only really manages tells you that there is good chance of showers this evening and tomorrow afternoon, temperatures in the mid-80′s during the day and mid-70′s at night, and that the weekend will likely be partly cloudy, drier with temperatures in the high 80′s. How long did it take you read that last sentence about what the weather is going to be like? Do we really need a cute, perky weather girl to go on and on and on and on…..?
I just want information from usually reliable sources in a just-the-facts way: about what’s up with government, things overseas, science, technology, sports, possibly interesting movies coming out, stuff about musicians (a personal interest), discussions involving genuine experts in a field talking about stuff in their field, and so on. That might seem like a lot, but seriously how long would it take? An hour, 1 1/2 hrs?
All my friends who moved to or had spent time in this country have, regardless if they had come from such places as Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, mainland China, etc, all pretty much say the same thing about American news, that they were appalled at how bad it is: it’s dumbed down, almost all commentary with little hard news, covers very little science and foreign info, and they felt that the way they got their news back in their home countries was not only much, much more efficient and far more complete, but that they felt that they even had a better idea what was going on in this country than the people living here. And their description of how their country’s news programs were set up was very similar: straightforward presentations of fact after fact covering local, national, and international news. An hour or less of that stuff and they were done. Time to move on to other things.
News commentators like Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, and, yes, even the likes of Keith Olbermann, serve nothing except to polarize people, whether it’s by playing fast and loose with the facts, being attack dogs, or just by limiting what they “cover” to better appeal to their target demographics. The same with blog sites, including those belonging to corporate media (a more proper term, by the way, than “MSM”) — almost all noise and little hard facts. A whole buncha opinionated guys in a room talking loudly about stuff that very few among them actually really understand.
I started using Hulu.com some while back to catch up on some missed shows (as well as getting hooked on the weekly Naruto Shippuden manga), and recently I’ve started catching the beginning section of the Daily Show, where Jon Stewart covers current events in a way that’s often really about how the media, both left and right, covers current events. For a relatively short section in a 1/2 hr show, it’s pretty packed with actual info and smart (if somewhat smartalecky) discussion without having to resort to a dry recitation of facts (it is a comedy show after all), and that could be a lesson to all the other “news” shows: you can actually inform as well as entertain, if that’s what you really want to do. But then again, especially for the cable networks, there is so, so much time to fill with such little talent available, and you can’t have too many facts — think of the ratings….
To Quote LEFTIST former NBC Tom Brokaw asking John Kerry ,Did you know that George Bush’s has a higher IQ than You and Al Gore’s plus he graduated with a MPA and his average was far higher than Gore a College Sophomore drop and Your degree as well .Who are both considered Brilliant by the left .
Just remember Jimmy Carter had a 161 IQ and was in the Nuclear Dept. of the Navy . He is now our second worse President ever .. Obama is number One .

Satire is obviously not your strong suit, please refrain from any further ventures into satire for political commentary or anything else as you only embarrass yourself and PJM. I’m not sure why PJM continues to publish your amateur articles alongside quality writers. Perhaps I might suggest “The Elements of Style” by William Strunk and E.B. White and perhaps some reading of Johnathan Swift and Mark Twain to help you improve your skills.

here are the facts, so far we have spent $670 Billion Dollars on the Iraq war and we have killed 100,000 Iraqis (“we” – because we started this war). So your point about spending too much on the ceasefire or how concerned Bush was that Sadam had killed thousands of his citzens doens’t hold much water. It would be great if conservatives were such humanitarians but the cost of the Iraq war is more than the estimate for health care insurance for everyone in the US which the replubicants are fighting with a vengence. Thanks for your logic. I agree that we have probably have made some great strides and things are improving but how long is it sustainable and why are we so interested in the well being of the Iraqis. The same evil dictors exist others places but they don’t own most of the oil.

I learned from my father what it means to be a
true Patriot, a true American; willing to do what ever it takes to keep this Country free.
Dad was a Pilot in the Armed Forces in World War
One. When World War Two began, he had started
having mild heart attacks, and the government
said “No” when he volunteered. So he resigned
his American Citizenship and became an ‘English’
citizen and was accepted into ‘Service’.
He was flown to London where he did odd jobs; cook, supply officer, etc., anything
they wanted so he could still helping fighting
for America. When the War was over, he came back
to America and was given his Citizenship back: a
few years after that he died and was given a 21 gun salute. ‘He’ knew that sometimes you have to fight for your Freedoms.
And that is what we are doing here: fighting
with our words to keep our Country free.

I have some humor, some measure of wit; however,
being a great-grandmother, I think I will opt
out on the ‘repressed’ part ).
I simply do not like the way our Country seems to be headed at this moment. I do want Healthcare reform, but carefully studied and
correctly implemented: definitely not a crammed
down our throat, government run plan. The
Federal Government exists to serve the individual States. The States and the People
do not exist to serve the Federal Government.
And I can’t quit my job, since the economy is
so bad my 2 children both can’t find work and I
am doing my best to keep us all afloat, trying
to pay their shares and mine of all expenses ; I am 3 months behind in Mortgage payments but at least my Mortgage Co. is working with me. Of
course my savings are all gone now and I had
to close out my small I.R.A.; oh well, you do
what you have to.
Too bad some of that Stimulus money that went to
all the ‘Pork’ programs and for Political pay-backs didn’t trickle down and actually create some jobs. We check all sources of
‘Help wanted’ ads daily, and nothing has changed.
Nothing that Obama has done has convinced me
he has anything to offer other than a “the
Government knows what is best for you” plan.
