Why Meghan McCain Is Wrong
“I love you. Now, please change.”
That is the message Meghan McCain has for the Republican Party. Ms. McCain said she fell in love with the GOP while campaigning for two years with her father, John McCain. However, in spite of her newly minted affection for the Republican Party, she believes that in order for the party she loves to attract more young people like her, the party needs to be reshaped to reflect the views held by the hip generation of which she imagines that she is a part.
What changes does she think the GOP needs to make? It needs to be hip and edgier. She laments the perception that there are no Republican politicians who are exciting enough that anyone would want to wear his or her likeness on a piece of clothing. What a short memory she has. Her father’s vice presidential running mate, Sarah Palin, inspired the creation of numerous t-shirts, sweatshirts, and pins with her face on them. She also attracted crowds of tens of thousands at campaign appearances. However, that must be of little consequence to Ms. McCain, since those tens of thousands were the regular folks from the heartland of America who make this country work. They were not the Hollywood types or MTV crowd who wore Barack Obama adorned dresses at mutual admiration societies masquerading as video music award shows.
Ms. McCain also has a dim view of ideological conservatives. She thinks the Republican Party gives too much attention to Ann Coulter, whom she described as “offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing.” Rush Limbaugh is also unacceptable to Meghan, because he is the “extreme right-wing” and “dangerous” for the party — perhaps an unsurprising description in view of Rush’s hesitant and belated endorsement of her father in 2008. So whom does Ms. McCain think Republicans should turn to for political and cultural advice? None other than Russell Brand. A British “comedian,” Brand took time out of his MTV Music Awards hosting duties in September of last year to beg Americans to vote for Barack Obama. He also decided to insult and malign not just Sarah Palin, but her entire family:
I am obliged by broadcasting law to show some balance in this situation, which means, uh, the Republicans might be alright. Sarah Palin. She’s a VILF! A vice president I’d like to…fumble, fondle, I dunno. I do feel a little bit sorry for her daughter, getting pregnant, poor kid. Is it a boy? Is it a girl? It’s a P.R. stunt. Come on. Be honest.

I voted for John McCain—but thankfully he lost to Barack Obama. He is too inclined to curry favor with the leftist establishment. Meghan McCain is a harsh reminder that the so-called moderates must be purged from the party. Can you imagine the harm she would cause if her father were president of the United States? There is little doubt but that a McCain election victory would have ultimately doomed the Republican Party—and probably the country.
Ditto David Thomson’s sentiments…
No surprises from someone who grew up with John McCain. If he had any real principles, he would have opposed the Bush-Paulson TARP and bailout schemes and would probably be President. He didn’t and isn’t, and his daughter is just as clueless about basic principles as her old man.
Thank you for saying what many of us think. Ms. McCain might be taken more seriously if she actually supported conservativism rather than taking the left-wing middle ground-”conservatives aren’t that bad…they just need to be more like us.”
Like most RINOs, Miss McCain is more interested in being loved by the Demos for “reaching across the aisle” than standing by the traditional principles of the Republican Party. If the party survives, it will only be because the RINOs are pushed into the Demo ranks and a more representative center-right coalition (which more accurately represents the American people) takes their place.
“What changes does she think the GOP needs to make? It needs to be hip and edgier.”
Yah. Nothing says ‘hip and edgier’ like John McCain.
That vulgarian British comic is “freaking hilarious”? Why, oh, why does anyone take seriously – or even pay attention – to the meanderings of this very rich little blonde, with limited life experience and dare I say, work experience. Has she ever even held a job which required her to show up early on time every day and put in eight hours? Now, the Republican party is supposed to care and ponder the sage advice and observations of this young woman? Here’s some advice for Meghan: get a real job, stop talking and begin to listen, read some important books on US history and stop shooting off your mouth. Pretty soon, my dear, no one will give a damn what you have to say.
Meghan McCain is poison, as far as the Republican party and the conservative movement are concerned. The reason why Republicans lost in the 2006 election is because they abandoned their conservative principles. Taking her advice will ensure that Republicans will lose elections for years to come.
I’m sure John McCain would probably have her hold some position on his staff. As president, McCain would have been a lot stronger on foreign policy and national defense than Obama, but I don’t if he would have been much better on the economy. He also would compromise too much with the Democrats in Congress. He would have brought about the end of the Republican party. He certainly would have been the end of Sarah Palin. They would throw her under the bus the first chance they had.
If she wasn’t McCains daughter would anybody listen to anything she says? If she wasn’t McCain’s daughter and a hot blonde would anybody listen to anything she says?
When I see her on TV I see her speaking but all I hear is vacuous noise.
Meghann McCain is an ignorant, uninformed woman whose speaking voice sounds like a Valley girl sucking helium. She’s not real smart and obviously feels a need to be paid attention to.
I don’t see much difference between the current administration and what would have happened if McCain won. In that I agree with David Thompson #1. I don’t think either result would have been better for the Republican party however. It is terminal, and the color of the flowers in the room will not change the prognosis.
What an air-head.
Her message is VERY important for the future of the Republican party, even if she lacks street cred as a messenger.
Both of the National Parties need to have a big tent. Whenever the radicals in the party control the parties operations, they’re going to drive out people who would be willing to carry the parties mantle, and further its agenda.
For those who say that environmentalism and progressive issues have no place in the Republican platform- I humbly remind you that one of the Heroes of our party was Theodore Roosevelt. He led the largest expansion of the National Parks system, championed Conservation, and strove to champion the rights of the struggling classes. He did all this while also championing a strong foreign policy, and keeping government at a moderate size.
Theodore Roosevelt is a great example for another reason. When he zealously fought the Republican party and stirred up internecine strife- running as a Bull Moose against the nominated Republican candidate- it led to the election of Woodrow Wilson. Wilson was a racist Southern Democrat who undid a lot of the progress made by the Republican party in the aftermath of the Civil War and Reconstruction, imposed the federal income tax on all Americans, and led to a HUGE expansion of the federal government.
THAT is why it is important for us to work towards a common goal of unseating the Democrats, while focusing on the goals we all have in common. Better to work within the party to win elections and form a compromised platform, than try to force the hand of a dominant Democratic party.
So Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter are not acceptable to the young Ms. McCain? Well, when she goes out and get’s a listening audience of 40 million or becomes a number 1 selling author, then she can talk. She’s a Democrat at the core (not that there is anything wrong with that) and she should just change her affiliation.
We all know that the Republican party needs to change, but she’s wanting it to change into the Democrat party, and that’s just wrong.
“the Republican Party is not progressive,”
Well, at least she knows the definition of conservative. So she basically thinks we need to stop being conservative. Airhead. When will people learn that having a little bit of fame gives you no cred on politics?
with regards to whatever beef y’all had/have with John McCain, I never doubted for one minute that he loved our country. That said..”thankfully he lost to Barack Obama.”…have you lost your mind?
Megan McCain is a product of our contemporary education system. Seeped in relativism, the MTV Generation feels rather than thinks. It is this narcissistic generation that will lead us into anarchy.
Western Civilization was lost when we permitted our education system to be corrupted. Look to Europe impotence for a preview of the coming dystopia. Plato, Jefferson, Orwell, Huxley, Chesterton, Franklin… we’ve been warned many times over and yet we insist on self-destruction.
Megan McCain is a fool. Those who entertain and amplify her nonsense are even greater fools.
There may be “moderate Republicans”, of which Meghan and her father are the leading exemplars, but there is no such thing as a moderate conservative.
It is on the back of conservatives that the Republican party will be lifted, if at all, not by the embracing the empty proscriptions of a spoiled self-indulgent child of political privilege.
The article is right on. The conservative priniciples that are important are a much smaller Government, fiscal responsibility, peace through strength, personal responsibility, not rewarding failure, legal, controlled immigration and so on.
The RINOs give us a government that expands at a rate some what less than explosively, a debt that grows steadily but not breathtakenly, a smaller weaker military but not gutted entirely, compassion instead of consequences that regulate behavour, uncontrolled illegal immigration as long as the foreigners don’t step on citizens too bad and so on.
The results are not an “evolving conservativism” they are liberal lite. It’s not a question of letting “purist ideology to stand in the way of progress” because it’s not progress, it is a slower push in the wrong direction. If you live in St. Louis and need to go to Boston, you can’t get there by heading west no matter how slow you go.
and double Ditto David Thomson’s sentiments…
Dave, We are more doomed under Obama. Agreed though that he is/ was a tard and his daughter is an attention whore who has done nothing for the convervative cause cept try to destroy it.
Dave, We are more doomed under Obama. Agreed though that he(mccain) is/ was a tard and his daughter is an attention whore who has done nothing for the convervative cause cept try to destroy it.
2008 is a perfect example of when a moderate is up against a liberal. Obama told us – in words, deeds and relationships – exactly who he was. McCain, on the other hand, appeared before CPAC and said he was a conservative. At the convention, he said he was ruled by no party. Truth is, I think he was happiest when he was embraced by the mainstream media as a ‘maverick’, even to the detriment of the Republicans who supported him. Ms. McCain is a reminded that when you are willing to reach across the aisle, your hand gets cut off.
Ms, Priestap:
“However, in spite of her newly minted affection for the Republican Party, she believes that in order for the party she loves to attract more young people like her, the party needs to be reshaped to reflect the views held by the hip generation of which she imagines that she is a part.”
Yeah, we were just brainstorming about it at the Klan meeting the other night, where we were releasing greenhouse gases by incinerating gay puppies over the coal fire in Bubba’s backyard burn-barrel,(we do this as a cultural heritage exercise while we shoot our assault weapons. drink moonshine, and celebrate our diversity by listening to both country AND western music).
After Clem, (having attended high-school some, he’s our pet egghead), had read to us from the Bible, it dawned on us that the ingredient we REALLY have been missing for political success is the votes of the vital “Blonde Rich Daughters of Politically Pandering War Heroes and Brewery Heiresses” constituency.
Booger didn’t get bitten by a snake at the serpent-handling session afterwards and he ALWAYS gets bit,(‘cept for that time he had a “wardrobe malfunction” and done shot himself in the leg when he tried cleaning his shotgun while it was still in the holster), so we took it as a Sign from Above.
Hallelujiah! One of these days soon, we’ll be havin’ us a hootenanny down on the White House’s South Lawn.
I also voted for McCain, but not because I admired him. He simply was the lesser of two evils. The little McCain chick needs to go back home and do something useful, stay out of politics When will these children of the Professional Politician realize that the good ole USA does not want anymore dynasties?
She’s got a heckuva grasp of what is and isn’t a good fake eyelash brand, though.
It’s certainly true that Ms. McCain doesn’t have a clue about conservative principles, and it’s certainly true that conservative principles — more importantly, the principles which animated the Founders and have made America great, which are not always “conservative” — are essentially timeless: limited government, fiscal responsibility, equality before the law and the rule of law, and the inalienability of fundamental rights in the sovereign people.
That said, we certainly haven’t — as conservatives, and especially as Republicans — done a very effective job of embodying them while we had our hands on the levers of power or – FAR WORSE – in communicating them to young people and minorities in ways that connect with them and their concerns.
Simply purging the RINOs won’t do very much to solve those problems in the long run, and might well even make things worse in the short to medium run — which may well turn out to be the long run if we’re not careful and the socialists have enough time to get their hooks deeply enough into society that people will be too terrified to leave the state’s embrace. We’re close to that now.
As Rush Limbaugh stated it so aptly one day: if the kids want a party and a candidate purged of the views Ms. McCain finds so retrograde, in favor of the socially “progressive” worldview that they had implanted in their dna, in a race between a Republican and a Democrat who is the real deal, they will opt for the Democrat every time.
During the 1970′s my generation was every bit drawn towards the socialist policies and social progressivism of the Democrats. And then we realized we were wrong. In 1980 the vast majority of my college classmates voted for Reagan. And that is the issue before the nation now. Will most of the under-30 crowd reverse course in the face of policy failure on every front? If they can do so and actually do so, then there is hope for the nation. Otherwise, we keep circling the drain.
She finds Ann Coulter “confusing”. Yeah, I guess if you’re a fat, vapid little airhead, ideas would get in the way of your keen Rosie O’Donnell like thinking processes. Meghan is another lightweight media darling whose shelf life has already expired.
RINOs, like the McCains, need to be purged from the Republican Party. This is why the party and the country is in the mess that we’re in right now. Republicans have lost economic credibility and it’s because we’ve let people like the McCains have too much power and influence.
These people aren’t true Republicans and they are diluting our message. We are the party of fiscal conservatism, strong national defense, limited government and believers in the Constitution. We are not the Socialist-Marxist-Democratic-Party-lite.
Meghan is getting lots of air time because the corrupt mainstream media loves how she bashes the party. (Much like her father.) She is the latest liberal media Republican puppet.
Conservatives don’t need this
silly air-head any more than they
needed her sellout RINO daddy.
The same media hacks that think Gov.
Palin was intellectually challenged
now think this little blonde twit is
somehow brilliant? Egads.
Ladies and gentlemen, think back to that scene in Lawrence of Arabia where Peter O’Toole’s army, bloodied from a previous conflict, comes upon the retreating Turkish column and he leads the charge down upon them with the battle cry..
..No-o-o-o Prisoners!!
RINOs must go, Comrades!
Why does anyone even discuss the views of this person? To me, she personifies the ignorant, uniformed people who voted for Obama.
This girl needs to go out and get a job and stop all this attention-gathering prattle!
Yeah, you’re right. She should just STFU. I’d much rather hear the political insights of Toby Keith or John Rich. Maybe Rascal Flats.
Would someone explain to me why it is all about the “gays” now. Is it some kind of fashion cycle we are enduring that any topic becomes a “gay issue”. It seems that life has come down to a women’s right to “choose” and a gay’s right to “marry”.
I guess it ‘is’ all about sex, really.
As I said elsewhere, Ms. McCain is a liberal Democrat with a Republican label; she speaks & talks just like a Democrat, yet she calls herself a “progressive Republican.” Who is she kidding? She does not fool me at all.
In fact, I see she has more in common with Paris Hilton than any normal person; it’s fine being born into wealth, but don’t act like we’re stupid. We’re not. The joke is really on Daddy McCain’s girl.
#13 Darius:
“Both of the National Parties need to have a big tent. Whenever the radicals in the party control the parties operations, they’re going to drive out people who would be willing to carry the parties mantle, and further its agenda.”
Well said. The key to returning to power is to (re)create a coalition from the Center to the Right, with the Center-Right as the bridge. Pursuing an ideological purity will only reduce the Republicans and conservatism to a series of regional rump parties, satisfied with themselves, but impotent nonetheless.
I disagree with Ms McCain on just about everything (especially her worship of the Cult of Youth), but I don’t want to see her driven out in a purity crusade, either.
Like her dad, she is just another RINO. In the 90′s, the RINO’s infiltrated the Republican party.
Two reasons, first the Socialists had taken over the Democrats, which left moderate Democrats no place else to go. Second follows the first in that as the Democrats travelled farther left, the Republicans expanded into the middle to absorb those democrats left behind by the other party. This diluted the conservatives in the Republican party and created a lot of politicians without any principals to speak of, other then following the voters. They just called themselves Republicans to distinguish themself from the uber left. RINO’s.
What the ’08 election proved was that the RINO’s cannot muster the votes to win. They need either the left or the right.
Conventional wisdom recognizes this by saying that neither left nor right can win without the center.
The American body politic is a three legged stool.
Unlike Nancy and Harry, who are just stools.
The inherent problem with not taking prisoners is that if you win, you win nothing. The Mongols conquered more of this planet then anybody else. Nobody but historians remembers them because they didn’t take prisoners. So all they got for their efforts were barren wasteland and large piles of stinking corpses.
Sally has a new hat.
The neighbor’s dog is loose.

About the Mongols: yes only historian’s may remember them now, but if we dont get our head out of arse, the descendants of Khan’s empire – Russia-Iran-China – will reign over us with the same fury.
“CO-DEPENDENCE”. All right-thinking people should begin referring to the RINO’s as “co-dependents”. They all suffer from the same ailment: a basic, emotional, psychological need to be “liked”. In today’s America, it actually takes real courage to stand up and speak one’s conservative mind. To openly say things like: “I am opposed to gay marriage”, or “I do not want to pay for someone else’s health insurance” actually takes a bit of cajones and a willingness to have some retard berate you. Too many people are too soft to bear the criticism, thus they fall into a type of weird “let’s talk about it” mode. This is John McCain to the core; “I crossed the aisle” was his mantra. Good God John, stay in you own aisle and take a freaking stance on something. As for that wizard daughter of his, why would a pampered, multi-millionaire, socialite in waiting who pals around with celebrities have anything in common with a two-parent working household from Indiana? Let’s call them what they are friends: scared, co-dependent retards. Ms. Mccain, you are a scared, co-dependent retard with very little understanding about our county’s history, the people who make it work, and what I refer to as the “human condition”.
Hasn’t O’Rielly asked her to be on his show several times? Instead, you will see her on every left-wing show that will have her. Just like her father there is a craving to be accepted by the MSM.
Another bimbo who wouldn’t amount to more than a hostess for Arizona old money cocktail parties if it weren’t for her Dad’s name. I’ve had enough of those nobodies clogging up our political works on both sides of the aisles. The Republican Party needs to look for talent, not nepotism.
Another reason to start a conservative third party!
And why do we care what Megan thinks about anything at all?
You are simply wrong.
At 60 I have a long memory of the Republican Party. We have stood tegether for many elections and come from all religions, ethnic backgrounds and economic groups.
We have stood for smaller government/less taxes/strong military/carefull spending.
We have never tried to dictate sexual preference.
I welcome all gay people who share my belief in the role of our government. I mind my own business as to their private lives…(that’s called “respect” )..and so should the Republican Party.
We should not be bullied by far right bigots…any more than we should be by far left bigots.
This should not be a party run by the far right religious. We will never share a common religion. It should be open to all that support our vision of governments role.
#33 one of my own… I’d much rather listen to Rascal Flats that Jeane Garofalo. That woman is truly a gift to the GOP. I’m smelling her hysterical tirade all over campaign commercials in the next election. We couldn’t have written a better script for a typical loonie-Lefter! Priceless!
You also make good points here (especially the Russell Brand comments in light of the Limbaugh/Coulter comments.) I think McCain is under-developed. She probably has good intentions but she fails to recognize the ways in which she is brainwashed by pop culture.
The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree, obviously. Megahn McCain’s political philosophy is EXACTLY the reason why the GOP has lost all trust and respect from the electorate; they have sold the values of liberty, laissez-faire capitalism, and rational individualism down the toilet. She is a hindrance NOT a help to the cause enshrined in the US Constitution.
#43, Apparently Meghan McCain has a book deal & the MSM wants to promote her as their token Republican. She is a pawn, yet she is so naive & ignorant she is being played for a fool–just like her Daddy!
The more she speaks, the less I like her. She needs to develop something more substantial such as a distinct, likable personality instead of being mistaken as one of the lost Olsen twins.
I have to say, I’m really disappointed with some of the rhetoric on display here.
Before the National Tea Party protests last week, there was an article here about how to spot agents provacateur in the crowd- Leftists masquerading as real protesters, stirring up trouble to make us look bad…
Do some of you realize what you’re saying? You sound just like what a Democratic plant would sound like to try to sow discord in our party. Megan McCain might not agree with the majority of Republicans, but good Lord- don’t drive her out of the party because she doesn’t agree with you. Is that really what we do as a party? Are we really as intolerant as the Democrats want everyone to think we are? If we drive her out, who else? The gays? Then who? The Mexican Americans? Then the Catholics?
That’s not My Republican party, and I’m CERTAIN most Republicans would agree with me. We were founded on a few simple tenets, and those basic principles have not changed. Nowhere is it written that we are to entirely discount whole groups of people just because we don’t agree with them on every issue- especially not when they come to us and seek to be recognized as one of us.
We need to stop being so blindly divisive. We need to develop our dialog and be willing to reach out. We need to engage each other in dialog and talk about our differences, not drown out differing viewpoints and shout each other down.
I posted this in the “Why Meghan McCain is Right” section but I think it is especially relevant here because the author seems to ignore some hard cold demographic realities. She thinks that moderation would result in a further shrinking base. Sorry, but it’s shrinking before your eyes. The bottom line is that the Republican Party needs to change the way they operate. I know many will not agree but, in short, they need to abandon the abortion and gay stuff or they will continue to lose. The reason why they will continue to lose is demographic. Their base is dying and you can’t win elections anymore with old white people. Professor Larry Sabato, who studies politics and demographic shifts, points to 2008 as a realignment election in his latest book. “The Year of Obama: How Barack Obama won the White House.” Three main shifts portend years of wilderness for conservatives and Republicans.
1.) The young broke more than 2-1 Democratic, and it was an intense preference unlikely to fade quickly. As this group ages and replaces older voters, Democrats will benefit even more since this group’s turnout will go up.
2.) The proportion of minority voters (black, Hispanic, and Asian) shot up and is likely to climb consistently every four years (mainly because of Hispanics). Democrats get about three-quarters of the votes of minorities, taken as a collective group.
3.)Americans with post-graduate educations have begun to move firmly to the Democrats, not just because of Bush and the economy but also because of the GOP’s conservative stance on social issues (abortion, gay rights, etc.)
“The big idea of this book is that 2008 looks to be a realigning election — a very rare event in American history,” Sabato told Politico’s Mike Allen. “The previous three were 1896, 1932, and 1980. Translation: The Democratic majority is going to last for a while.”
Until the Republican Party can speak specifically to the issues that these groups are concerned about (rather than turning them off considerably) it is hard to see how they bounce back. So far it doesn’t look good.
One other very important fact. White people are not reproducing nearly as much as the above mentioned groups, especially Asians and Hispanics. So, as time marches on the death of each old white conservative is met by the birth of a liberal person of color who will vote and reshape the world as they see fit. Democrats have time on their side. All they have to do is stand by the bed and wait for the patient to expire. The “teabaggers” at the rallies may have had some fun poking at Obama and the Democrats but they are ignorant of the fact that they are on life support. In many ways their activities are “death rattles.” Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock . . .
Megahn McCain is to politics what weight loss wonder drugs and penis enlargement was to spam five years ago. As unfathombalbe as it is to most sane people direct marketers actually make money spaming – even with improved filter software.
Being a super sincere maricopa valley girl whose only real job since college has been youth councilor to her fathers failed presidential campaign can still garner a C list invitation to speak – which is what ‘coming out’ for the Log Cabin repub’s basically is.
At least when her father panders he does it with some wit (either his or a ghostwriter) & substance.
I would love to see her tangle with Ms Coulter on Red Eye – but somehow I don’t think McCain Jr would be up for the invite.

I wonder if around January 2010, there will be a phenomenom of Tea Party babies?
I think if the Rep.’s want to ever win office again, you better listen to that “Air-head”. Less govt. intervention and the right of civil liberties would mean let the gays get married, and let people choose to abort if they choose to. I don’t you can hear the frequency of the people speaking, but Ann Coulter, Rush L, Sean H, Sara P, all have a ugly tone. Say what’s on your mind, but leave the disdain, hate, at the door. How could you possibly attract voters to your ideology when the tone sounds so ugly being stated. Regan got voted in on a pleasant sound, so did Obama. The fact that the demographic of the country is changing, more blacks, more minorities, this will be a one party country very soon. If the intolerance of the Rep. party is having no change at all, then you deserve to sink to the bottom of the ocean, there’s no place for you in the future.
According to Meghan, Republicans need to embrace gay rights, gay marriage, and gay privilege, along with special priviledges and compensations for people who are not inside our country legally (but aren’t, ergo, “illegal”), and we should get over ourselves on abortion cuz every pro life person gets a kick out of public money funding the death of children in the USA and around the world.
Us Republicans are just hicksand hey seeds and don’t get it.
But Meghan, who has never once earned money on her own, is willing to pull up to the table to dive into the pie of tax payer dollars because it isn’t about whether or not they should tax us, it is about how our Senators spend the money. See Republicans need to become more PROGRESSIVE. Yeah, that’s the ticket. If we would just be more like the democrats, people would vote for us.
Oddly enough, after democrats run cities, counties, states, into economic suicide, they elect republicans to get them out of their unsustainable debt.
According to Meghan, all children should get ice cream and candy for dinner and we’ll wave our magic wands to make it zero calorie and full of nutrients.
According to Meghan, if, humrump, we would just become more like them and less like us, we might start winning again.
But do we want to?
Once one gets passed the superficial political talking points, all you have is a blank slate. No wonder the MSM love Meghan McCain. She’s a human chalk board!
Ohio Granny….Good points throughout. Anyone that went to school post-1980 was exposed to left-wing indoctrination. A recent poll indicated that the majority of 30 and under age group prefer socialism over capitalism. In another poll we learned that they are the only age group that approve gay marriage.
It would a appear our educational system is doing a stellar job in shaping the minds of our youth.
urbanleftbehind: “I wonder if around January 2010, there will be a phenomenom of Tea Party babies?”
My mother was conceived during the summer of love, so I guess anything is possible! I dunno about “Tea Party” babies though. Most of these white conservatives are way past their ability to bear children for the fuhrer. That said, a good roll in the hay might loosen some of them up! I’m guessing they ain’t getting any . . .
She is grandstanding for attention. She likes the lime-light, the photo-ops, and the “cool kids” talking to her in the hallway. In summation, she is a joke, and she does NOT speak for moderate conservatives like myself.
Larry…..The degenerate left is intolerant of the christian religion which represents 77% of the country. Is it possible to be any more intolerant?
A perfect example of the degenerate left is how Miss California was attacked after she expressed her views on gay marriage. One of your own called her the B and also the C word.
And then you have the racist rant from Jamie Foxx last week which he will pay no price for since he’s a Hollywood leftist.
It must be nice being a radical leftist these days. Say anything, do anything and become a rock star.
urbanleftbehind: “About the Mongols: yes only historian’s may remember them now, but if we dont get our head out of arse, the descendants of Khan’s empire – Russia-Iran-China – will reign over us with the same fury.”
Interesting tidbit. Did you know that something like 80 percent of the Han Chinese (Han meaning indigenous) have DNA from a common ancestor that dates back around eight centuries? Some speculate it could be Genghis Khan. He was busy apparently.
The ditzes are coming out of the woodwork, and they aren’t all blond!
anyone else had more than enough of Meghan McCain? good lord, since when did she become such a person of note?
Oh thats right, as soon as she started bashing the right she became a media darling. enough already.
“I’m guessing they ain’t getting any . . .”
You should know.
“Interesting tidbit. Did you know that something like 80 percent of the Han Chinese (Han meaning indigenous) have DNA from a common ancestor that dates back around eight centuries?”
So what. ALL humans share DNA to one extent or another. That is what makes it possible to interbreed. It is also what makes racialism a joke.
As a thought experiment, let’s skin the Usurper and Harry Reid, hang them in the barn and see how many people can tell them apart.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_skin_color
Adjustments to the melanin level in humans is possible. That means if someone wants to be ‘blacker’ or ‘whiter’ all it takes is money. Look at photos of Michael Jackson as a teenager vs today. The process takes skin color out of the political arena and into the laboratory.
A generation from now it should be a requirement to ‘switch’ races for a semester. The Senior year in High School or the Freshman year in college would be good, since those are pretty much wasted years anyway.
#50 Praetorian:
“The bottom line is that the Republican Party needs to change the way they operate. I know many will not agree but, in short, they need to abandon the abortion and gay stuff or they will continue to lose.”
Doesn’t wash, homes.
Let’s use some perspective here.
The GOP lost a 2nd mid-term Congressional election in the middle of an unpopular war and a Presidential election, by only a %10 margin after a President with the lowest poll approval ratings in history…AND running a candidate whose impact was felt most keenly in the indifference and hostility of his own political base.
On the basis of these facts, the GOP should perform an autopsy on itself?
Dude…it ain’t dead yet! It ain’t even close.
Let’s contrast it with what things looked like from the Democrat side of recent history.
They had 12 years of Reagan and Bush #41, then they managed to take advantage of a sharp recession and get a DLS ethnic “Good Ole Boy” in the White House, where he promptly proceeded to enact Liberal social policies that cost the Dems the Congress for the first time since the late 1940′s.
Clinton steps on his penis, and limps out of office as an impeached and despised nonentity.
Voters endorse this action by allowing the GOP to retain control of Congress.
In comes Bush #43, who starts his pre-emptive defense war in Iraq, and yet manages to get re-elected.
The Dems don’t regain Congress until 2006, but they limp out with polled approval ratings even lower than Bush’s.
So here’s the lay of the land from the Dem POV…they’ve won only three Presidential elections,(one for an incumbent…and he got impeached), since 1980…8 years, that’s IT!
They’ve had control of the Congress for only 6 years since 1990.!
Are they acting any different than the Democrats of the 1970′s?
Have THEY purged themselves of Big Government “Tax and Spend” neo-Marxist scam artists?
Nope…their model is the exact same thing it was in 1972 with McGovern.
Identify a designated victim class and then flog the general electorate to absolute death with ‘em for past sins, 9real and imagined),through their butt-boys in the media and academia, while raking home as much loot as they can.
What will force the GOP to change is if and when the Democrats change…and after long exposure to what passes for “thought” over there, you can only “Hope”.
“The reason why they will continue to lose is demographic. Their base is dying and you can’t win elections anymore with old white people. ”
Perhaps so, but the Dems newfound voters are aging just as fast, don’t ya know?
The college kids today are expected to be the young working taxpayers 4 or 5 years from now, and then all the wooly-headed neo-marxism they embraced in their youth, when they were living on Mom and Dad’s subsidy is going to look like the idiocy that it is.
The arc is long-established that people grow MORE conservative, not LESS as they get older and start making families and morthahe payments and dental bills for their kids.
“Professor Larry Sabato, who studies politics and demographic shifts, points to 2008 as a realignment election in his latest book. “The Year of Obama: How Barack Obama won the White House.” Three main shifts portend years of wilderness for conservatives and Republicans.”
With whatever respect Sabato is due, I’d say it’s very likely that he’s just tring to cash in by pitching his book to the market segment that voted for the Alleged Hawaiian.
“One other very important fact. White people are not reproducing nearly as much as the above mentioned groups, especially Asians and Hispanics. ”
Again…NOBODY is reproducing as fast as Hispanics amd Arabs.
And the White Federally-subsidized-abortion- on-demand-for-any-female-8-to-80, Blue state Dems, (not to mention the Homosexuals), are REALLY lagging behind the White Red state GOPs in the breeding race.
Despite what some folks might be fantasizing, neither Hispanic nor Arab culture is known worldwide for their uhhh, “liberalism”.
(Ever had a “Gay Rights” discussion with a mullah?
Talked “equitable income equalization” with a Bolivian alcalde?
…Thought not.)
Thing that you have to realize is that in politics, like in boxing, you gotta have the sand to take a few punches and still come up off the matt with some good combinations.
Okay, this was another disappointment in a series of strained, boring Point-Counterpoint riffs.
Who gets elected to write Why Meghan McCain is Irrelevant?
#23 Bilgeman: Best comment EVER on PJ, and that includes my own, which I think are usually pretty brilliant. Damn I love satire and sarcasm.
#65 goy: I will gladly write the tome “Why Meghan McCain is Irrelevant.”
My 27 year old “goth” daughter is a conservative and can’t stand the pandering middle-of-the-road wishy-washers, whose lukewarm embracing of conservative is just a thin line from leftism.
My 22 year old gay daughter is also a conservative. She wanted to attend a tea party, but like most conservatives, she had to work that day.
Let’s put Meghan and jeaneane garofolo (lower case used on purpose) in a room together. May the best idiot win!
Fashion choice for Meghan McCain??
“Jihadist choice of accessories: the keffiyeh; the arabic male headscarf.”
How Vogue!
Yeah……she “speaks” for conservatives. (sarc)

64 Bilgepump . . . “Clinton steps on his penis, and limps out of office as an impeached and despised nonentity.”
Classic example of confused yet wishful thinking . . . exactly the kind you people slobber over. Clinton left office with an approval rating of 66%, the highest of any president since World War II and 6 points higher than the Holy Roller Ronnie Reagan.
You don’t like Clinton. I think reagan is the most overrated president history. The only difference between our opinions is I didn’t lie to make my point. Kind of like “We do not torture.”
Another doofus goes down for the count.
(And this time, when you respond as I know you will, please try to come up with some new material. You’re old, I know, but you’re starting to look intellectually lazy.)

Mr B:
The rebuttal post by the troll above notwithstanding, your facts seem o.k. by me. Since 1992, the Democrats thirsted so much for power, that when they got back to congress in 2007, they behaved (and are behaving) like hicks in a whorehouse with a credit card. Talk about stepping on dicks!
Sure, Clinton had a 66% approval rating, the guy worked with a more-or-less conservative congress during a time of relative prosperity. Ask the troll if he ever heard of the Dot-Com bubble (that sucked half of the IT people off the market) and pending Y2K problem (that sucked the other half of the IT people off the market) and late 1990s real-estate boom?
And, to be clear, if many of us had a choice between Clinton and his administration the plate-of-dog-turds that passes itself off as federal government since 01-20-2009, I am sure we would consider the dress stains and cigar shennigans the “good old days”.
Hell, even Madeline Half-Bright and the phone-it-in, lob-a-couple-of-cruise-missiles-at-an-aspirin-factory foreign policy is better than President Training Pants’ fit of vapors over a bunch of brigands with rusty AKs staring down a U.S. Navy Can in the Indian Ocean.
Keep ‘em coming, comrade Bilge!
Miss MM is as silly as a two bob watch, but still she is McCain’s daughter and how many Republicans actually get out and about talking to the Media. My theory is that she fills a vaccuum or she is one. My other theory is that she hates tall skinny intelligent people like Ann Coulter. This causes Miss MM a lot of stress because Ann Coulter is her secret role model. We will see a lot more of Miss MM. She will grow and grow but not only in girth. As a political know-all Miss MM will gather a lot of followers although I’m not real sure why. Maybe people are just sick to death of intelligent women.

Are you endeavoring to think, mutant-child?
Don’t strain yourself! I thought you had done yourself an injury while trying to come up with those “principles” I challenged you on the other thread to expound upon.
Alas, i guess there’s not much “philosophy” scrawled on the walls of the toilet stall you habituate.
So…shall we address the issue you brought up?
Whatever Clinton’s polled approval rating was doesn’t matter, except maybe to you, (and certainly to him).
The FACTS are that he was only the second President to be impeached.
The Party in power in the Congress that impeached him was not punished for it’s actions
And his would-be succesor, Al Gore was defeated in his bid for the Big Chair.
While it would be reasonable to point out that Gore lost the closest election margin in history, I would then ask why it was that the Democrats didn’t run him again in 2004?
They instead ran that hapless tool, the buffoon John Kerry…
I can only conclude that the Democrats wanted nothing to do with the “Clinton Legacy”.
Including that of his wife, the would-be UberFrauFuhrer.
Remember when she was booed by her own constituency at Yankee Stadium in 2001?
Keep believing your poll numbers and ignoring your lying eyes and ears.
“Another doofus goes down for the count”
Hmmm, speaking of “going down”,(at which you are PJM’s acknowledged expert), perhaps you should be getting back to work…I thought I heard an 18-wheeler’s air brakes release outside your rest-room.
Megan you are so completely irrelevant and no one NO ONE CARES what you say. You are such a complete
hypocrite and have absolutely no credibility. Please do us all a favor and Spend less time in politics and more time trying to find the boyfriend to give your advise and attention to instead of us…. You are irrelevant. Sorry,I don’t want a hip GOP, I want an effective one – one that can kick all of the democrats (and crooked republicans) out of office.
71 Sploogepump . . . And he takes the bait! On both counts! Offering only flaccid angry gesticulations where facts and reason rule. Shall we?
“Whatever Clinton’s polled approval rating was doesn’t matter, except maybe to you”
No, it’s me and 66% of the American people. That’s what we in the real world call “the point.” Al Gore and John Kerry have no more to do with this discussion than John McCain and Sarah Palin. (And aren’t you glad they don’t.) Now I know it’s hard to stay focused when dementia is setting in, and I’m willing to give you some leeway for the alkaloyd deposits in your brain, but unless you land somewhere in the realm of reason, I’m afraid we’re going to have to roll you off to the old soldiers’ home for non-combat veterans. You’ll like it there, they have a garden of weather vanes made out of parts from dilapidated rust bucket merchant machines.
It isn’t just pubbie party that has failed. Capitalism has failed. At least OUR ‘capitalism’ has failed. The bankers, lawyers, CFOs and pols turned it into ordinary piraccy. Juan McCain was a bad joke. A perfect example of a failed life in these modern times. He married up and managed to make senator with her money. Where he made an ass of himself for years. Then the pubbie party picks him to run for POTUS against a great white shark. For crying out loud!
We are SO screwed.

“No, it’s me and 66% of the American people.”
I warned you against trying to think with that damaged equipment that keeps your skull from collapsing…did you listen? Of course not!
Whatever makes you fantasize that 66% of Americans approved of Clinton’s performance, freakazoid?
The usual and customary language used would be 66% of polled RESPONDENTS approved.
The extrapolation from respondents to all Americans is bogus…and election 2000 proved just how much so.
Look, mutant, if I asked 100 men who exited the toilet stall next to yours if they approved of anonymous gay sex acts performed for money in public places, I might get a fairly high approval number.
That does NOT however, imply that that number would also apply to the population at large, see?
73. one of my own:
71 Sploogepump . . . And he takes the bait!
Troll get serious – You presume to suggest that Clinton was a transformational prez because he exited office with ‘%66 approval rating’.???? Context matters fool.
Try re-reading Sabato – 1896, 1932 & 1980 – McKinley, FDR & Reagan. FDR had 3 years of economic chaos – study just a little bit of the banking collaps of ’31-’33 – and why we have FDIC now.
Reagan had a growing conservative movement in the states leading into ’80. By his re-election in ’84 republicans dominated in the state capitals all over the electorial map.
The best evidence Sabato relies on is the extinction of conservatives in the northeast – from NYC to Maine – but elsewhere the country is in rough parity -conservatives are badly outnumbered in highly concentrated numbers in Cali & the northeast only.
Likewise the myth about the emerging ‘latino’ is just that – a myth. Hispanics are very diverse – Read Orlando Patterson’s vivisection of this convienent media lie about the monolithic displacement of Blacks by Hispanics as the largest minority – and the subsequent crap sociology about white birth rates verses Hispanic and ‘other’ – and the logical conclusion is that this country will continue to remain 70% plus white majority for another 70-100 years baring an intervening nuclear holocaust.
Sabato is way short on demographic facts to back up his highly subjective speculation – namely that those under the age of 40 are going to go ga-ga for a vere left – not just in their college years – but well into adulthood.
Time will tell. I certainly don’t buy it – just as I haven’t his book.
Vivo 71. Bilgeman:!!!!
Ms McCain is a RINO and does NOT speak for the GOP. The scary thing, though, is that the media has already decided that she does. They are holding her up as the epitome of a Young Republican. All “true” young republicans today need to find a way to get the word out that she does NOT speak for them!
I prefer the political musings of Trig Palin to those of Ms McCain.
Seriously, I think the only thing that prevents Ms Mccain’s registering as a Democrat is the number of 0,000,000′s in Mummy’s will.
John McCain was picked by the New York Times, his buddy paper, he was anointed by Ted Kennedy his pal in the Senate, it was his election to lose and the loser lost it. Its the RINO’s like John and his daughter that are the cause of the ruination of the Republican Party. No doubt about John being a hero but he just didn’t have the fire in his belly to tell the truth about Mr. Wonderful; Ted Kennedy and the New York Times wouldn’t have liked it. Now because of his RINO like behavior the country is stuck for 4 years of disaster, worse than Jimmy Carter.
Julie,
Eggs Ackley!
But then how could the poor dear know what a conservative was? She was around 3 years old when the last real one left office.
( may the Bush clan and the name of Bush be forever cursed )
Meghan McCain does NOT speak for me! The way to win the hearts and minds of the American people is CLEARLY communicating the timeless tenets of conservatism: limited government, strong national defense, lower taxes, energy independence, etc. Then contrast conservatism with the radical socialism that Obama and Company are espousing. When TRUE conservatism is on the ballot, it wins even in far-left states like California (where Californians passed Proposition 8). You CANNOT have RINOs and moderates running as Democrat Lite. As someone stated earlier, the GOP needs to find new talent, not new family members. Bobby Jindal is a good possibility as being part of the future of the GOP.
Yes she has lost track of what the GOP and Conservatism is all about: anti-intellectuality, bigotry, small mindedness, gay bashing, self centered jingoism, pandering to spiritually dead theocons, incessant war, worship of wealth, power and strength. Did I miss anything?
Nice to see all the null-brains here toss their last two cents into the discussion. Of course, anyone who isn’t a total pig like Limbo or Anne is utterly revolting to such moral and intellectual pillars of virtue here. Do you people here realize that almost everyone else in the world, outside of your talk radio universe, thinks you people are utterly lame and hypocritical? You don’t cause you are so high on yourselves!
Who cares!!!!!!
She’s taking the same road to a political philosophy most people take. She’s young and stupid, just like everybody young is stupid. Celebrity is the difference. Most kids aren’t asked to answer these questions, if they were, most would sound just as uninformed.
Meghan McCain needs to plant herself in a garden right away; otherwise, she will remain a stickly, prickly weed. She needs more fertilizer, sun, water, & love.
#86 Let’s “fertilize” her with cow dung next time she makes a public appearance: a project for conservative activists!
At least one guy got his wits about him. The answer to the Rep.’s is “more conservative” is not the answer.
“Since my election in 1980, as part of the Reagan Big Tent, the Republican Party has moved far to the right,” Specter said in a statement posted by his office on PoliticsPA.com.
After he gave up his rep. affiliation.
I love you megan now leave the stage.
Thanks for the auspicious writeup. It in truth used to be a leisure account it. Glance advanced to far added agreeable from you! However, how could we communicate?
Hello There. I discovered your blog using msn. That is a really well written article. I will make sure to bookmark it and come back to learn extra of your helpful info. Thank you for the post. I will certainly return.
I have been browsing online greater than three hours these days, yet I by no means found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is pretty price enough for me. Personally, if all website owners and bloggers made excellent content material as you did, the net will probably be much more useful than ever before.
