White House Report Says Climate Change Here and Severe

One Senate critic, though, called the document “a political one used to justify more government overreach.”

WASHINGTON – A White House report assembled by 300 noted scientists found that the nation already is experiencing the effects of global climate change and warned that the situation is likely to worsen.

The National Climate Assessment, reviewed by the National Academies of Sciences and overseen by the Department of Commerce to assess current research on global warming and calculate its implications, found that “climate change, once considered an issue for a distant future, has moved firmly into the present.”

The report concludes that “the evidence of human-induced climate change continues to strengthen and that impacts are increasing across the country.”

“Summers are longer and hotter and extended periods of unusual heat last longer than any living American has ever experienced,” the report said. “Winters are generally shorter and warmer. Rain comes in heavier downpours. People are seeing changes in the length and severity of seasonal allergies, the plant varieties that thrive in their gardens, and the kinds of birds they see in any particular month in their neighborhoods.”

Average temperatures in the U.S. have increased by 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit to 1.9 degrees Fahrenheit since 1895, according to the report, and most of the increase has occurred since 1970. The most recent decade proved to be the nation’s and the world’s hottest on record and 2012 was the hottest year on record in the continental U.S.

All U.S. regions have experienced warming in recent decades, but the extent of warming has not been uniform. In general, temperatures are rising more quickly in the north. Alaskans have experienced some of the largest increases in temperature between 1970 and the present. People living in the Southeast have experienced some of the smallest temperature increases over this period.

Temperatures are projected to rise another 2 degrees Fahrenheit to 4 degrees Fahrenheit in most areas of the U.S. over the next few decades. If the production of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide continues to surge the warming could exceed 10 degrees by 2100.

“The observed warming and other climatic changes are triggering wide-ranging impacts in every region of our country and throughout our economy,” the report said. “Some of these changes can be beneficial over the short run, such as a longer growing season in some regions and a longer shipping season on the Great Lakes. But many more are detrimental, largely because our society and its infrastructure were designed for the climate that we have had, not the rapidly changing climate we now have and can expect in the future. In addition, climate change does not occur in isolation. Rather, it is superimposed on other stresses, which combine to create new challenges.”

The report was immediately embraced by advocacy groups that have been warning about the potential impact of global climate change. Lyndsay Moseley Alexander, assistant vice president and director of the Healthy Air Campaign of the American Lung Association, said the findings establish that “climate change threatens our ability to protect our communities, especially those most vulnerable, against the dangers of air pollution, increased allergens, extreme weather and wildfire. We must meet the climate challenge now if we want to protect the health of millions of Americans living with asthma and other lung diseases, as well as children, seniors, low income and minority communities.”

John Podesta, a senior advisor to President Obama, called the report “the most authoritative and comprehensive source of scientific information ever produced about how climate change is going to impact all regions of the United States and key sectors of the national economy.”

“It’s been a tremendous undertaking — hundreds of the best climate scientists from across the U.S., not just in the public sector but in the private sector as well, have worked over the last four years to produce this report,” Podesta said. “This assessment is about presenting actionable science.”

But climate-change critics were quick to attack. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said the document is “a political one used to justify more government overreach.”

“Definitive policy decisions and regional planning based on far too many uncertainties could hurt our nation’s economic viability and competitiveness,” he said. “Look no further than the European nations the Obama administration aims to imitate whose policy decisions led them to economic failure.”

The Obama administration already has taken steps to address global climate change by attempting to limit greenhouse gas production. The Environmental Protection Agency has imposed restrictions on emissions from newly constructed coal-fired power plants and currently is contemplating strict new rules for those electric facilities already on line.

Some poly-sci major probably without an ounce of mathematical or scientific ability steered this report into the direction it was "supposed" to go in.

Ever wonder why it is that every time these morons talk about the effects of global warming its always from a gloom and doom scenario? Yeah - me too!

During the Maunder Minimum (cold spell) from about 1640 until it ended about 1715 people suffered - food was scarce and the normal crops they grew did not fare well. As things began warming up crops fared much better - and humans began once again to thrive.

Given that I'm thinking a bit of warming isn't a bad thing. As long as I have my air conditioning - bring it on! I can golf all winter!

The One World Socialists want to steal money from the "rich".

There is a wife beater who has a book on the subject that they just love.

THIS is simply a hidden scheme to use naturally occurring weather...which EVERY YEAR IN HISTORY had some storms, droughts and wild weather.

The idiocy of the twits who point at hot, cold, rain, snow, fire, wind, waves, and clouds and say " warming caused that" is to be laughed at and pitied.

This report is a white paper on a black market with a red intent.

Give us a break. This president and HHS cannot get a simple web site operational with a $600 million budget. The EPA cannot keep an employee from watching porn 24/7, cannot fire, fine or discipline him either. The IRS cannot keep their employees from abusing us and BLM cannot enforce a court order except having an platoon of swat team members. Yet the BIG OBAMA wants to control the climate and the only thing standing between him and achieving that goal is we the people, the constituion, and giving up our standard of living. What could go wrong I wonder?

The unproven theories of the so-called United Nations and its panel of so-called experts using problematic models to predict the climate have reached new lows with the promotion of their latest theory that the dinosaurs f*rted themselves into extinction. They even have extrapolated this inanity into the present by blaming bovines for raising the level of carbon dioxide.

Well, folks, such inanities aside, other climatologists have returned to predicting decreasing temperatures globally not increasing, basing their predictions not on level of carbon dioxide but on activity of the Sun.(1) Even were the “warmers” correct, predictions based upon real science not phony politics, it will require 100,000 years for the Earth to experience a “runaway greenhouse effect” such as experienced by our neighbor, Venus.(2)

Meanwhile, there are consequences to the inanities from the UN. Also, there will be consequences if the “coolers” are correct. The point is the following: Forget flawed, climatological models peddled by ideologues and paid promoters; remember that true science is based upon specificity, objectivity, and accountability (For a further explanation, visit

I still want to see those climate models process data from the 1960s and predict the conditions in 2000. If they can't do 40 years, why should we believe 100 year predictions?

The United States Senate majority leader is not only preternaturally & weirdly obsessed with the Koch brothers, Charles and David, but is totally and completely insane.

"Reid: Kochs ‘main causes’ of climate change"

At the very least, America, you could butt this crazy obstructionist from his position as Senate majority leader in November 2014.

We've gone from global warming (going on 18 years without) to climate change to the new buzzphrase "climate disruption".

We're impacting the Earth to be sure, through deforestation, destruction of animal habitat, desertification (the decrease in surface water and river flow in my neck of the woods, the southwest, is irrefutable)

But this gaggle of climate agendists rises to the politically corrupt, if not the insane, and for that reason, are to be despised.

The short version of what these politically agenda driven politicians and scientists are up to, from the co-founder of the weather channel.

Muslim Brotherhood using climate BS to distract from Benghazi

In an April 20 (given the deep connections between the Brotherhood and the Nazi Party, the date may not have been an accident) story in the Jerusalem Post, the question was asked, Will Qatar abandon the Muslim Brotherhood? As they put it, Qatar is the only country who openly supports the Muslim Brotherhood. This followed the pressure exerted on Qatar to do just that from its three Gulf neighbors, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia even threatened a blockade should Qatar not comply. Clearly the Brotherhood, and their revolutionary aims, had been recognized as a threat and an ultimatum given.

Nine days later, on April 29, news broke of the damning White House emails, which included an operative of the Muslim Brotherhood. A Benghazi cover-up had been proved to the American public.

On April 27, totally unreported, a delegation from the Qatar Investment Authority visited Washington D.C. This information is available on the official website of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. QIA’s CEO Ahmad bin Mohamed Al-Sayed met with senior U.S. officials, including “Governor of the state of Virginia, Terry Macaulf [sic], Vincent Gray , mayor of Washington, DC, and Michael Nutter , the Mayor of the City of Philadelphia,” and John Podesta, “Senior Advisor to the U.S. President.”

Two days before the release of what may be the Obama administration’s Watergate, and in the midst serious diplomatic trouble for Qatar, the Senior Advisor to the President met with the QIA – the same QIA who fund Al Jazeera… the same Al Jazeera who paid Al Gore and Qatari-connected partners $500 million for their failed television network. There is no doubt Podesta knew what was in those emails, and was fully aware of coming the political fallout. He went to strategize.

What happens next? On May 5, Podesta announced that Congress couldn’t do anything to stop Obama from enacting new policies to fight climate change. “They may try, but there are no takers at this end of Pennsylvania Avenue,” said Podesta. Obama, he explained, was committed to using executive orders to circumvent the Constitutional process for lawmaking. The same day, it was reported that Qatar was expelling some key Muslim Brothers from the country, including Al Jazeera star, Yusuf al-Qaradawi (who, as of this printing, was unable to find a secure country to be exiled that could guarantee his safety).
