Where Is the Democrats’ Tea Party?
President Obama told us his thoughts of national defense in a 2008 campaign ad: “I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems. And I will institute an independent defense review board to endure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.” He followed through on his promise about the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR).
By law, every four years the U.S. Department of Defense must present to Congress a comprehensive review of the security threats and challenges to America. It was widely reported that Islamic radicalism did not receive one mention. And the threat posed by a nuclear Iran received a brief mention: one sentence. Contrast that with the in-depth eight-page evaluation on how global warming threatens our nation.
Here are some memorable quotes from Barack Obama on his worldwide apology tour at the beginning of his presidency:
– In France, he said that America “has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive” toward Europe.
– In Prague, he said America has “a moral responsibility to act” to control weapons production because only the U.S. had “used a nuclear weapon.”
– When asked about American exceptionalism he said, “I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism, and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.”
– And on his failed Indonesian trip, the president was asked what he thought about jihad. I won’t subject you to the very long, fumbled, disjointed, and just plain odd response the president gave. Suffice it to say, Mr. Obama just couldn’t bring himself to say that the jihad movement that has taken root in Islamic fundamentalist circles is a blight on humanity.
Let’s face it: Americans aren’t used to our president heading overseas and trashing our values, distorting our history, weakening our defensive posture, and taking the stance that America is “just another country.” Don’t get me wrong. I fully realize that Democratic presidents have done one or two of these anti-American acts in the past. But with Mr. Obama, you get the complete leftist package. He is an overachiever, we’re told. It has been fascinating to watch as Obama’s policies both at home and abroad have galvanized, resurrected, and created brand new groups of opposition to left-wing thought. And he’s done it with such style. It was widely reported that during the negotiations for the stimulus bill Obama said, “I won.” The message of unabashed arrogance was directed at Republicans to make sure they knew how “negotiations” would go.
I find it difficult to think of another figure who so crystallizes leftist thought than President Barack Obama. He’s even inspired other nations to turn from their former socialist paths. We’ve seen evidence of this recently as both Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and Prime Minister David Cameron of Great Britain rejected Mr. Obama’s plea for their countries to partake in more deficit spending. Instead, the two leaders decided that cutting spending was the way to go. Germany’s economy is growing at a much faster pace than ours, especially in the realm of job creation. Europe and other countries, both friend and foe, realize that they must now grow up. America, under Obama’s leadership, has been so weakened that it can no longer drive the world’s economy. A recent report says that China’s economy will eclipse ours in two years. Many nations also realize that under liberal rule, America is no longer inclined to provide protection for our traditional allies. President Obama is truly socialist liberalism incarnate. And the name “Democrat” is quickly becoming a pejorative as a result.
My message to Democrats is simple: Take back your party. Your leadership has lead you astray. Today, the label “Democrat” means you sympathize with elements that want to destroy your country. It means that you’ll sacrifice the financial future of your children and grandchildren for the temporary convenience of today. The Dem label means that you reject capitalism and all the tenets that built the most advanced, prosperous, and free nation in human history. The Tea Party has set out to rescue the Republican Party. That movement has demanded that the GOP adhere to the planks of that party’s platform. What group of disenchanted Dems will do the same for the Democratic Party? When will the Democratic Party once again be considered a pro-American party, a party dedicated to the precepts outlined in our Constitution? And where are the rank-and-file Democrats who will right the ship and demand that Democratic Party bosses change course? Where is the Democrats’ Tea Party?
Ridiculous article. Reform the Democratic Party? Reform it to what? Perhaps you’ll reform it to Jim Crowe days, or the Progressive movement of the early 20th Century, or even go all the way back to the days of slavery.
Why don’t Dems take back their Party? Because the real Dems, the idjits who love big government, but who are not interested in Socialism per se, have become RINO’s. The Tea Parties are taking back the Republican Party from the Dems. Maybe when they’re done the Dems will go take back their Party from the Socialists.
The Dem Party is just plain corrupt.
The Democratic party, as a party of broad appeal, is dead. What is telling is the number of Tea Party folks who were Democrat and will never go back. No. There is no reforming the Democratic party. They will dine on their own until they implode or wither away.
The host is the Democratic party.
Inside, the parasites have taken over.
There must be many lifelong Democrats who are aghast at the situation, but it reached the tipping point so recently that it really hasn’t sunk in. And the man in the mask is such a consumate liar, and in a position that many reasonable people simply can’t compehend to be co-optable, that there have to be many who still hold out hope that it is somehow something other than what it plainly is.
Basically, we are locked in a death struggle. The parasites in their host couldn’t possibly win, except that in historical terms, it is a lightening strike, and surpise assualts do sometimes overcome a superior force. Don’t doubt that they know 2012 is the knockout round. For them it’s the ultimate prize or back under the baseboards for decades. They won’t stop at anything.
It is truly in America’s best interest for the liberals and the media to still think they won (even though Obama’s numbers have tanked).

That is it in a nutshell. Unless you are a far-left socialist, the Democratic party no longer needs or wants you. The far left has taken over the Democratic Party to such an extent that John Kennedy probably could not get the nomination for president from his own party today. Now that the American people have seen what liberal Democrats can do and how dangerous they are, it will be interesting to see where the Democrats go from here. In 2012, Obama certainly will NOT be able to paint himself as a “centrist,” like he did in the 2008 election. Conservative Democrats, not to mention Independents, will NOT be fooled again, so I don’t really know where Obama and the Democrats go from here. If the Republicans keep hitting Obama on all of the many socialist things that he has done, from Obamacare to the “stimulus” to the GM bailout, the Democrats will remain a minority party for years to come.
Someone once said, (Napoleon Bonaparte) “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake”. I cannot think of a time when this notion would be more applicable to the Dumbocrats. Let’s let them rave on under Obama, Reid, and Pelosi leadership for another 2 years, by that time I think they’d have trouble getting elected to dog catcher.

Thanks for this article, which points to the shift from soft-seeping socialism to radical left within the Democratic Party. Has the author read about the 1930′s under FDR? How about the 1960′s under JFK and LBJ? How about the 1980′s under JC? The Democratic Party just kept shifting ever farther to the left over a hundred years. Unfortunately for us, we Americans were asleep at the wheel. Thanks to Pelosi and the president, many of us have realized we are now the neo-USSR, and voted to stop the destruction of our way of life.
The problem remains that the presidency over a long time under both parties has morphed from ‘law-enforcement powers’ to a dictatorship’s powers through the myriad of agencies that no one seems able to stop. Had we stuck with the Constitution, we wouldn’t be having these problems.
I have to say your bottom paragraph is probably a good summation. I wonder at times if the US is actually more conservative, but they buy into the blather, PR, and promises of the left and this allows them to led far out to left field, turned around, not even facing the ball, ready to take it on the head.

Recently, science came out with two points regarding the political leanings in this country. The first is the ‘liberal’ gene found in demonicrats with and explanation of why they vote with such liberal leanings. The second revelation is that 20% of Americans are mentally ill. Demonicrats make up 20% of the voters. I don’t quite understand why so many commentators bother with what members in good standing OR fellow travellers of the so-called “Democratic Party say /write /”debate”.

At least for the present the Tea Party is a loose body Independent of Party.
It seems then that the ONLY use in attending to the “Democratic” Party, their sheep-dogs in Media, NPR and NPB, entertainment, universities and “best and brighhtest” unless proven otherwise, is to be cautious in crediting anything they say publicly. Where possible learn what the are ACTUALLY organising and planning in the “back rooms”.
To recognize the probability of feint, distraction from their true plans, actions and goals. To urgently recognise the “Democratic Party” hierarchy,its allies in the RINOs, and the Media and legal framework, as the enemy of Americans, and to know your enemy.

I tend to agree with previous posters. The article is a bit obtuse. History is clear about the origins of each party. Martin Luther King was a Republican for a reason. And you can see the reason in every Communist and Socialist calling themselves a Progressive/Democrat today.

Jefferson began today’s Democrat party, originally calling it Republican. In his later years, he said what he really stood for was Democracy. His successors to the White House-Monroe, Madison et al-were called Democratic-Republicans, though at the time they did call it Republican but also used the appellation Democratic. Over the next few decades, anti-slavery activists hardened their stance, resulting in the founding of the Republican party, still called that today. At the same time, pro-slavery forces collected in the Democratic party, more or less named so under Jackson. After the Civil War, Democrats fostered white supremacy groups like the KKK in order to restore their power in the South. Of course, Harrison and the GOP was complicit in this by performing the GOP’s first cut-and-run, removing federal troops from the South and ceding control to the Democrats.

Certainly there are vast numbers of Democrats who are aghast that the hard left has taken over the ecto skeleton of the Democrat Party and is now using it to further its marxist agenda.
But liberals are cowards by nature, so they do nothing. They never will.
But there are groups of Democrats that are just as sizeable, and which also will do nothing:
- the faction looking for handouts. “me” is their ideology
- the faction too stupid to even think about what has happened. This is the largest faction…the one the Ruling Class has cultivated for decades.
- the remora fish faction. Swimming along the shark, picking it’s teeth for food. Lawyers, Unions, many government workers. They will never turn on the shark, no matter how dangerous it is.
So the fact that a hard-core, hate-filled, parasitic 10% of a political coalition has taken over the entire body mass isn’t surprising at all. The only surprising thing is that it took this long.

or a million other unearned forms of redistribution from people who work to those who don’t.

umm RUBIO won the REP nomination- Crist ran as independent (former REP who embraced Obama as savior, disloyal RINO, traitor to his own party, too selfish to step down after loss to Rubio, or go DEM his true loyalty) Crist was endorsed by DEMS (B Clinton) who incidentally did not support the DEM candidate MEEK (the Black man– how racist!)

The funny thing is that the Tea Party arose out of fiscal concerns and with the uneasy marriage with the Republicans has lost a little of its steam over social issues. The Tea Party must reassert itself that it is an independent party that wants to put an end to an out of control Congress and President.
I have been a Tea Partier from the start and I have opposed the marriage, as it helps people like DeMint hijack the cause and say that you can’t be fiscally conservative unless you are socially conservative. That is complete and utter BS! I am not communist, but I believe there are things that should be left to the states vice the feds. This is opposed by the far right and I don’t care what they think because they help send this country down the drain by allowing their chosen ones to misbehave as long as they were thrown a bone (marriage defense act, what a crock of crap). True Americans know that this country was formed and has a strong foundation on Christian principles, but it also had a strong revulsion to theocratic states (Church of England).
So the Democrats that believe in responsibility and fiscal restraint has sided with the Tea Party and the Republicans, but this is probably only temporary as the Republicans will act like Democrat-Lite again and the Tea Partiers will file for divorce and shed the shackles of Republicanism and be a true fiscal conservative big tent party attracting independents, Democrats, and fiscally conservative Republicans. The far right Republicans will crash and burn just like the far left Democrats.
The Dems are victims of their own creation. They have spent the last 30 years developing a voting bloc of mallrats and malcontents through our public education. I don’t think they will find any Messiah’s here.
