That’s exactly the point. Many Americans can’t stand the idea that they have a black president. Had any other white politician done this, no problem. People will not tell you that because they want to remain politically correct. I’d rather face a truthful racist than a hypocrite.

But people are shortsighted and unrealistic. The future calls for more ‘minority’ presidential candidates. Racism in this country and the rest of the world will never disappear. Respect for others will prevail, but not genetically ingrained racism.

We detest his lack of character, his incompetence, his destructive policies and his dislike of America. Personally, I think that’s a pretty incredible basis for reasonable dislike of the POTUS.

Certainly, for eight years it was enough for me. But unfortunately, you can’t prove any of this today about Obama. Remember, when 9/11 happened? You people said that Bush escaped responsibility because he hadn’t been in office long enough to do anything about it. But get a white guy in there who looks black–well, you people hate black people so much, you even hate them when they’re actually white–and you’ll blame him for the last eight years of incompetence even as you voted for every single a-hole who helped bring it. Dumb doesn’t explain it. Dumb and racist does a better job.

I’m making it a four day weekend.

Tuesday, I’m taking my youngest son — tenth grade — fishing, then we’re heading to the range to move up from a .38 to a .45 (third lesson; we started with a .22)

After that, a cook out and another lesson in family history; reminder how we (that would be our family) got run out France for being Protestants, were indentured servants, fought in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI and WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the first Gulf War.

Then a lesson on the limits of government and the right to dissent.
