What Obama Needs Is a Change of Job Description

This whole oil spill mess just sort of highlights the fact that Obama has no idea what a president is supposed to do.

So basically we screwed up, and we’re taking it out on Obama. So what do we do now? Just complain and yell at Obama for two or so more years? That’s not right. Here’s an idea, though: why don’t we change the responsibilities of the president so it is a job he can do well?

What can Obama do well? He can give speeches and say positive things. Can’t we make it so the presidency involves only doing that? We wouldn’t be the first country to do it; in Israel, the president is basically an apolitical, ceremonial figurehead. Now doesn’t that sound like something Obama can do? He could continue to go around saying, “Yes we can!” That made him popular in the first place, and there would be absolutely no expectation for him to back that up with any actual actions. It would be perfect for him; he’d be like our own Queen of England.

So let’s do that. We would have to change the Constitution, which can be done one of two ways: 1. Pass an amendment. 2. Have someone sneak into the National Archives in the middle of the night with whiteout and a pen and edit the Constitution, and then the next day we all act like we just realized it had always said that.

Either way, once we get it done, think of how much better a president we’ll have. With the oil spill, he’ll go to a beach and look all concerned and vow that action must be taken, and then we’ll have to agree he’s doing a great job as president because you wouldn’t expect a figurehead to do anything more than that. And as for the economy, Obama would go on TV and say, “We will create more jobs. We will have a strong economy again. Yes we can!” And presumably while he’s saying that, we’d have someone who actually knows something about economics and business working on the economy.

Oh, I guess if we made Obama a figurehead, we’d have to hire some new guy to handle all the old presidential responsibilities. Not sure how we’d do that, but we obviously need to come up with a more rigorous selection process than we’d use to pick a president. How do you usually find someone with actual qualifications for a job? I guess we could put an ad out on Craigslist.

I dunno Frank, you may have just insulted fry cooks everywhere…

Our first clue this guy was going to try to make us more like Greece were those column thingies at his coming out party. Big clue many of us missed. Then Greece got a whole lot of attention for having a bad economy and needing a bailout and Obama got inspired. He could do even better. He’s the one we’ve been waiting for. Oprah said so.

So he looked around at his new friends in DC and cozied up to all the big spenders, Nancy. Harry. Bart Stupak? Anyway, his clown posse (aka liberal Dems) pass ginormous job killing, deficit raising monstrosities that have done such great things. Unemployment up 2% and staying right at 10%. Now there is some environmentalists unhappy about something or other and he just wants to play golf. And be McCartney’s back up singer. These hard choices are getting him down!

Let’s just hope Greece does not up the ante and get another bailout or something. The last thing we need is Mr. Fake Greek Columns to get jealous and try to out do them again.

  2. 2. Xcontra

Tough guy Obama. What a joke.

You are correct about him staring at that target rumpus and getting all sweaty and nervous, “How do I do this? I’d prefer to kick around some arugula salesman. Where is my man Sean Hannity. Maybe I can get him to kick some heinies on camera, then I will criticize him for that. Yeah, that’s the ticket.”

  3. But I thought big, massive, government could solve all of our problems? Just ask people living in the Gulf how “efficient” our government has been during this crisis. But don’t worry, folks, the same government that did so “well” in this crisis is taking over all of your health insurance too. What could go wrong?

  4. 4. TennesseeVolunteer

The time for humor about this is long since past. This administration has ‘intentionally’ done all of the things you list out of an evil intention to cut off capitalism and turn the USA into a socialist state. It is not incompetence my friend, it is evil, pure and simple.

  5. 5. bill-tb

It’s sort of like the nonsensical statement “renewable energy” and how buffoonish that sounds. Since energy can be neither created nor destroyed, how can it renew itself. It’s more liberal sophistry, and generally crap people by. Try it for yourself, explain the phrase “renewable energy” And remember, words are made up things, not references to physics. How is “renewable” ethanol different from “non-renewable” oil? Only in the liberal mind.

Words liberals use to frame the argument, get us every-time.

    • Brian N

Well you are right and wrong. No one is saying that the energy will renew itself but that its source is infinite. Technically you are correct, when the sun goes supernova and explodes the earth 5 billion years from now the solar panels will stop working. Just a guess, but I imagine when everything in our solar system is destroyed the wind turbines will not work either. As you can see your argument is ridiculous. I can only hope you were being facetious.

  6. 6. phoyng

You have a great idea. Obama can travel around the world and apologize for U.S. transgressions, broker “stiff” sanctions against Iran and make paper tiger threats to North Korea. And since he would have plenty of time on his hands he could continue to trash Israel and give money to Abbas. Oh wait…he’s done all that already.

    • Gordon DeSpain

    Priceless!

  8. 8. David P

Obama is a disaster, he should be forced to resign or removed from office immediately!

  9. 9. Trainwreck

The only problem with this line of reasoning is that if the presidency becomes a figurehead position like the Queen of England, the Prime Minister role would end up being taken by the Speaker of the House, so we would have as our leader Nancy Pelosi.

Obama did say in his first major public address at Cairo that “…part of my job description is to fight negative Muslim stereotypes.” This is why we will not fight against or recognize the danger of Islamic jihad.

Another thought: his “Yes we can” slogan was taken from Bob the Builder (“Can we fix it? Yes we can!”). Maybe he can watch some more Nick Jr and other kid shows and come up with more slogans. How about:
“What’s gonna work, teamwork!” (Wonder Pets)
“Think happy thoughts, happy thoughts, that’s what we’re gonna do.” (Yo Gabba Gabba)
“Come on let’s get to it, I know that we can do it!” (Dora the Explorer)

  10. 10. Czar of Defenestration

    Who is to blame?
The idiotic 52% who voted for him.

Perhaps is job description can just be supplemented:
a constantly-roaming Entry Greeter (think: Walmart) along the U.S./Mexico border
hat and suntan lotion not included…()

    • Paul -Indiana

Just one small point. Obama was elected by 52% of those who turned out to vote. Only 58% of the electorate participated. Run the numbers and you will see that Obama was elected by 30% of the eligible voters.

      • Poor Citizen

Which of course means that Bush was actually elected by less than 20% of the electorate based on your assumption.

      • RetAF

Are you counting just living, breathing, legal resident voters?

  11. 11. Emma

“We elected him because he was a good speaker….”

    Really.

    I’VE OFFICIALLY HAD IT WITH:

    1. Those who feel bad that oblameya is in our public housing at 1600 PA Ave and describe the process that got him there as “we elected him……” without ever defining who they mean by “we”. Weren’t me, Tonto.

    2. The lie that this fraud is a “good speaker.” Ronald Reagan was a good speaker. This fool is NOT a good speaker. Apparently the “we” who elected him is still deceived by the rumors that he is a good speaker. That’s a personal problem. That is not a fact just because “we” believe it is. Sheesh.

    • Right you are, Emma; SPEAKER NOT!
      READER par excellence.
Is that a great accomplishment, or what? Harvard really prepares one for the REAL world, don’t they?

      • Gordon DeSpain

Well, when the only view you have from the window of your Ivory Tower is of the Elysian Fields, the world would seem to be infested with Roses.

  14. I have a suggestion for Obama’s new job description – civilian!

  15. 15. Paul of Alexandria

Oh, I guess if we made Obama a figurehead, we’d have to hire some new guy to handle all the old presidential responsibilities.

You think you’re kidding? Nancy Pelosi has been acting more and more like a Prime Minister for quite a while. European style parliamentary democracy, anyone?

  16. 16. Fritz

Frank, there’s only one miscalculation in your proposal: Joe Biden already has that job.

  17. 17. Goldi

“This problem goes back to why we elected Obama. We elected him because he was a good speaker and said nice, positive things.”

Well some did. The rest of us knew there was someone pulling his strings. For crying out loud he can’t even speak to a high school graduation without his teleprompters. And, no matter how much anyone criticizes him about them, he still uses them. I guess that tells you that he really, really can’t do without them, cause they all know they are a butt of a joke, as he is.

    • KBB

How about a 6th grade class? Remember, he hauled his teleprompter in there.

Hawaii senior elections and bither certificate checker-

Adams stressed, “In my professional opinion, [Obama] definitely was not born in Hawaii. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that he was not born in Hawaii because there is no legal record of him being born there. If someone called and asked about it, I could not tell them that person was born in the state.”

  20. 20. David Levavi

American voters took the nice-looking, well-spoken front-office African American out of the front office and put him into the executive suite with predictable results.

  21. 21. Larry in the Silicon

He was elected because Americans of 2010 are not well-educated, because they’re addicted to Hollywood creations, because of liberal guilt, and because of the impact of vast demographic changes that creates huge automatic voting pools for those who will go after the perceived, coordinated wealthy class. And it will probably happen again.

By the way, if the Republicans nominate Sarah Palin and Obama indeed runs again, he may win again.

    • AF_Vet

“By the way, if the Republicans nominate Sarah Palin and Obama indeed runs again, he may win again get his a$$ handed to him in carter-esque fashion.

      FIFY.

    • RebeccaH

“Americans are not well-educated” compared to whom, exactly? Europeans, who’ve had their chestnuts pulled out of the fire twice by Americans, and who are completely and totally insular and parochial? Asians, 95% of whom still live in rural villages with the water buffalo and goats? Africans, enough said there? South Americans, who are busily embracing their inner Che? Perhaps, Britons or Canadians, who are drowning in political correctness and creeping sharia?

It’s a liberal trope that Americans are ignoramuses about the rest of the world, despite the fact that we have the most diverse population in the world, a very large number of us have traveled outside our borders, the whole country is wired for the internet (a large picture window on the world), our universities are magnets for students all over the world, and until recently, we had a fourth estate willing and able to keep us informed about the world.

But I’ll give you this: America made a colossal mistake in electing Barack Obama for president. So far it’s not a fatal mistake — unless we fail to start cleaning house in November.

      • JRob

I would say based on the test scores from standardized tests that I have been reading about that a lot of Americans are not well educated. I would further state that since liberals have been running the education system our newest graduates have been subject to more indoctrination than to teaching. As to the comparison question compared to who I would say compared to previous generations of Americans.
We had several things come to pass to get this idiot in the white house. A lot of under educated people voted who normally can’t be bothered to vote or learn anything about which they vote. A substantial group of voters just did not bother to vote because they saw 2 bad choices. The republicans ran a very poor campaign with out direction or focus.
Not all Americans are “not well educated” but there are plenty of them, just look at any liberal function and you will see people trying to implement plans and policies that have been proven failures from years gone by. The only way to explain this is poor education, as they have been unable to learn from failure and history.

The strongest proof I have ever seen regarding the failure of our education system was contained on some job applications and the requirements for employment at a factory that I worked at during my college years. When I was hired the VP in charge of personnel showed me a reproduction of an early 1920′s application for employment that was filled out by a man that had completed 6 years of schooling. The penmanship was neat, the questions were answered in complete sentences, and the individual was able to do all the math and solve the logic problems correctly. The other applications were from more modern day individuals that had completed high school. The differences were tremendous and the much more educated individuals had poor grammar, spelling, incomplete sentences, and incorrect answers on the math and logic portions of the test. That batch of documents showed me the poor state of our education system more than any other I have ever seen.

        • Gordon DeSpain

“The republicans ran a very poor campaign with out direction or focus.”

Oh, there was a “direction” and “focus,” the same one I watched in the Clinton/Dole Campaign, to elect one person, and, it was not the one whose campaign they were managing. You need to read Sara Palin’s book, and, pay careful attention to how they manipulated the things she was allowed to say or stress. There can be no doubt that the Obamessiah was the ‘chosen’ winner, long before we reached the Polls.

    • KBB

Any Republican candidate can beat BO in 2012, especially Sarah Palin.

  22. A lot of us tried to warn the rest of us before the election. We were called all kinds of names for speaking the truth.

NOW we learn that Bill Ayers has been the “shadow President” all along. Obama’s just a puppet and when Ayers hasn’t written a speech for him to read from the Teleprompters, Obama is totally clueless.

The AYERS PLAN is to destroy the USofA . . . the ONLY Country which would allow Bill Ayers to do what he’s done and get away with it.

BUT WE THE PEOPLE will not allow Ayers and Obama to destroy our Great Nation. The end of their “rule” is near. November 2010 and then November 2012. We The People Will Win!

I used to think Obama’s doings since he took office is an embarrassment to the US. As the president of the US, he reflects our views and represents us.

He lost the American general public since last summer (09), esp. his SOTU speech (right after a resounding defeat in both VA and MA).

After a year and a half, he’s still doing the ‘Amreica Bad, All problems inherited’ schticks. Now, he just embarrasses himself (everyday he’s sinking even lower), his crew, and the mindless supporters.

  27. 27. PaulM

With each passing day the President gives proof of his incompetence. The specter of some unelected person having undue influence with the President also grows daily.

Glenn Beck had something on this morning about how Obama has been handling the oil spill they way the Center for American Progress wants him to handle it. Apparently there was an article in the “Wall Street Journal” about how the Center makes a suggestion and the Obama administration follows up on the suggestion a few days later. Glenn Beck was also talking about how a Brazilian petroleum company stands to profit enormously if the US gets out of the deep water oil business and that George Soros is very invested in the same Brazilian oil company. He also said that the CEO of BP sold a large number of shares of BP stock a month before the spill. I know it all sounds conspiratorial, but behind Obama’s incompetent response, is there a calculated strategy on the part of his puppet masters? In other words, are they truly this incompetent or is there a strategy to it all?

  31. 31. MN

I think this humorous cartoon at http://drawfortruth.wordpress.com/2010/06/04/keeping-busy/ shows one of his new job descriptions.

  32. 32. Bob Miller

What Obama most likes to do is to channel anger toward corporations and allies of the US. What he never does is to enable anyone to solve a problem.

  33. 33. Bohemond

“This problem goes back to why we elected Obama. We elected him because he was a good speaker and said nice, positive things. And I guess a lot of people thought that’s what he’d do as president: stand around and say positive stuff. But when Obama became president, he rightly realized he was actually supposed to do stuff. So he’s tried to do stuff to the best of his limited ability. The result is trillions more in debt, a still failing economy, and half the ocean covered in oil, but hey, he’s trying. And we’re going to yell at him for doing a bad job? It’s like we took a fry cook from McDonald’s and decided to make him a neurosurgeon because he looked good in a surgical mask and then got mad at him when he killed his first patient. Who is really to blame here?”

LOLOL! One of the funniest paragraphs I’ve read for a while. Thanks, Frank!

  34. 34. Poor Citizen

The good news Frank is that you and the far right are correct in that this president has been left exposed by an irresponsible oil company that was allowed to ignore safety and environmental regualtions for years. This lack of regulation enforcement is no surprise to the left and many enveronmental groups. However, this president must take ownership of “what he will do about it” which so far is lip service and finger pointing. And the country wants to know what he, and the congress (and yes, even the party of no) will do to ensure that they have regulations and laws set up to ensure this does not happen again. And….most important, as I have said a hundred times….and once again… we need to get off this devils bargain dependence on foreign and domestic oil sole source energy policy. We must start “now” to ween ourselves off this crapp over the next generation or two so our grand kids will thank us……lest they curse us. Or the alternative, these spills, greed and wars will become the norm…in our future. And that, is not a good thing.

    • Joe Schmo

The right is only the party of “no” because the left is the party of “gimmee that”.

      It’s an adult/child relationship

      • Halfbreed

Very well said Joe, I never thought of it like that.

      • KBB

It’s an adult/child relationship all the way around. The Left (e.g., “children”, immature adults) protests by trashing the streets, burning cars, turning over trash cans, breaking store windows, looting, simply laying down in the street and forcing police to carry them off. The Right (e.g., adults, mature folks) protests by standing around and holding signs. They even pick up their trash when they leave!!

    • JRob

The statement that the pino was exposed by an oil company that was irresponsible and allowed to ignore safety issues for years seems to be lacking in factual base. Regulation is not the answer to all disasters. Equipment will fail on occasion with out warning. Forces in nature can and will exceed what they are expected to be with results that are disastrous. It seems that the company involved has not tried to run or hide from it’s culpability in this issue. Bad things will happen and finding a scape goat will not remedy the problem. After someone is blamed the problem remains and still needs to be solved.

The proper response could have been handled by any competent adult with just a fireman’s experience level. Step one stop the disaster from getting worse, step two contain and eliminate the disaster, step three investigate the disaster and determine cause and possibility of crime or civil action. The only thing the idiots in the white house have done is to begin step three.

There is an old line about if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem, we know that the dems have not been a solution to anything for a long time.

McCain was definitely lame, but I don’t think any Republican candidate could’ve beaten Obama. The fix was in from the start, with ACORN as a back-up just in case the plan went off track. The only good thing is McCain got his chance at the gold ring, so we don’t have to do him again. He’s done.

    Obamanation News

As the president continues to berate BP into bankruptcy and his hapless second-in-command toots his own vuvuzela at the World Cup, other news about this president and his administration tends to get lost in the news shuffle which doesn’t make those stories less significant even if they are buried and/or ignored by the MSM.

For example, we have the story of what constitutes Obama’s prime constituency which, almost exclusively, consists of “unmarried, unchurched, poor and inexperienced people, . . . [and] Ph.Ds,” according to an interpretation of a new Gallup poll.

The PhD part makes that an odd mix, unless we factor in that the letters PhD very often stand for Piled higher and Deeper by overachievers.

Gallup’s latest poll shows Obama’s overall popularity at a new low of 46% and that he is strongest among the younger folk, those who don’t attend church regularly, and those who earn less than $2000 a month–as well as eggheads

Even worse for the president, his popularity numbers among the poor and non-churchgoers are declining: http://bit.ly/b8QLSG

We should probably expect a multi-billion dollar popularity bailout in the near future. . .

Boy oh boy, this man Obama is getting crucified! Now why do I think the MSM will get into sympathy mode soon and we will hear a long list of wonderful things he has actually done for us. That he is not so bad just misguided. Bingo, that’s the word: misguided, and that heads on his staff should roll. After all Bush is not there so the hunt will be on to find other scapegoats who have been misguiding him. After all the weakest link in the chain is the one cut. Wonder who the first one will be? Usually happens when the Prez gets in hot water with the public. Any guesses?

  49. 49. RockThisTown

I didn’t think there could be any worse President than Jimmy Carter, but Obama is reaching new depths by the day (only 925 left). However, this nincompoop of a 44th President will only be able to do damage for the rest of this year, from which the resilient and resourceful American people will be able to recover. After November, he will be politically neutered and will be relegated to petulant complaining and whining. The results of the elections in November will be catastrophic and an unmistakable message to the WH. If he heeds the message, he may recover, but he won’t, thus ending up an irrelevant failure, just like Carter. Obama isn’t smart enough to study history and not repeat Carter’s missteps and boondoggles; consequently, he will repeat them.

    Our First Father

If President Barack Hussein Obama can be described as “first fan” because he likes the Chicago White Sox, I guess on Father’s Day 2010 he can be referred to as “first father” and, with all due deference to the president on this Father’s Day, I hereby re-publish an article on his father from 2008.

Titled, “Barack Obama LVII, Racist, Muslim Radical, Drunk, Womanizer, Socialist,” that article was the 57th piece published here about candidate Obama but, to clear up any possible confusion, the title does not refer to him.

There’s certainly no evidence that our president is a drunk or a womanizer, even though the other adjectives apply as well to him as to the late Barack Obama, subject of Barry’s ghost-written, lie-packed, highly-honored memoir, Dreams from My Father, A Story of Race and Remembrance.

To suggest that a man must follow in the path of his father is patently ludicrous. . .

Speaker-no! without a telepromter, he is worse than Gibbs, Reid, and Pelosi. A great speaker will look people in the eye and tell them the truth, not BS them with false hopes!!!!
Remember, 2010, Nov. change the course of the voting, then the American public can say “yes we did.”

Of the numerous reasons Obama should be impeached, his response to Arizona alone is enough. He has relinquished his sworn duty to protect, keep secure & safe from threat and invasion, the citizenry of this nation. By bringing suit against a state which is attempting to uphold / enforce Federal law, he is actively participating in aiding, abetting, & assisting illegals’ entry into our sovereign nation whose laws already prohibit such, and thus enabling and exacerbating the threat to our national security. That the federal government would bring suit against AZ when it should be showing support negates & makes null and void, Obama’s sworn oath to uphold the Constitution. We will see what kind of legacy the petulant, adolescent Obama leaves when a radical Muslim slithers across the border with 4 lbs. of Anthrax, capable of killing 350,000 people within an hour, in a suitcase.

1.) I didn’t vote for him and 2.) AND the last job description for him fits well. A village in Kenya is still missing their idiot.

I agree with you nobody that village in kenya is awaiting him as all of africa would love him there he needs to be Impeached way before Nov think of all he could do to harm america from now till than we get to get him as he never belonged there in the first place.

We must all realize by now that the Kenyan Idiot is being handled by skillful money changers from behind the scenes. They were brilliant in the use of the internet, TV ads and speaking double speak from the teleprompters. The most profit is made when countries are at war. Check the history books. The uneducated masses- ACORN- those with the entitlement attitudes, the contributing unions and large money groups couldn’t wait to see him in office.
    N. Pelosi, Ried, Frank, Dodd, Schumer were all euphoric when he was elected and now they have had free run at the tax supported coffers and we are broke.
The idiot will be cast aside when they are through with him like a worn out money sack and blamed for all that has gone awry in spite of the protests.
