What Does the President Have Against Sin City?
Obama’s recent remarks about Las Vegas have been approached as just another gaffe, a throwaway line that could have the unintentional result of driving business away from the economically beleaguered state of Nevada. But there may be deeper implications hidden in his words.
First, here’s what Obama said, in context:
Responsible families don’t do their budgets the way the federal government does. Right? When times are tough, you tighten your belts. You don’t go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices. It’s time your government did the same.
After the furor of criticism, Obama apologized, writing a letter to Harry Reid:
I wasn’t saying anything negative about Las Vegas. I was making the simple point that families use vacation dollars, not college tuition money, to have fun. There is no place better to have fun than Vegas, one of our country’s great destinations.
But it’s not as though Obama can plead ignorance. He has dissed Las Vegas before, and gotten a great deal of negative publicity for it. Surely that must have made an impression on him. Nor can he say his recent remarks about Las Vegas were off-the-cuff; they were carefully prepared and vetted by him in a speech. So why did he repeat the error?
We can dismiss Obama’s claim that he said nothing negative about the city. Although that is technically true — his words were about vacationing itself, using Vegas as an example — he must know that discouraging people from blowing their money in Las Vegas is discouraging people from going to Vegas itself, and that one of the biggest draws there is gambling.
Vegas is a city, but it’s hardly a typical city; gambling and the resultant tourism are its raison d’etre and the driving force behind its economy. Discouraging people from going there has negative repercussions for the financial health of the city of Las Vegas and the state of Nevada.
If Obama didn’t know that originally, he had to have learned it after his previous remarks. So we are left with the conclusion that (a) he is abysmally forgetful; (b) he is abysmally stupid; or (c) something keeps driving him to criticize Vegas. Or perhaps some combination of all three.
My guess is that it’s mostly (c), and that this has the side effect of making him seem forgetful and perhaps even stupid on this topic. I believe that what is driving him so forcefully is his desire to be a preacher/teacher to the great American unwashed, a superior moralizer who likes to lecture inferior others on what they should do with their money.
This, of course, has little to do with what the federal government does with its money (which so far, especially under Obama, and despite his remarks about priorities and tough choices, is to spend and gamble away our children’s future), or what personal extravagance the Obamas have shown in the White House (quite a bit). Frugality is for the little people, the ones who fail to do simple things like keeping their tires properly inflated and using those vile energy-saving bulbs.
You know, those bitter clingers and the rednecks who are so stupid as to blow money in places like Vegas when they need it for bigger and better things. The folks who might even value their personal freedom to do whatever they choose to — including gamble, if they happen to feel like it — without sourpuss preacherman Obama spoiling their fun. Las Vegas seems to be a symbol to Obama, a sort of secular Sodom and Gomorrah rolled into one, and he just can’t resist using it as an example of what not to do and where not to go.
But there’s an even deeper problem behind what Obama is saying here: his ignorance of the way economics actually works, or even the way Vegas works. It might indeed be a much better choice for an individual who is struggling to pay college tuition to stay away from Vegas, and especially from gambling. Or he/she might actually be taking advantage of some of the amazing deals there. The last time I looked (and granted, that was a long time ago; I must confess right here and now that Vegas is not my idea of a fun vacation), there were reductions on hotels and food in order to pull in the gamblers. But if you could resist the lure of the tables and the slot machines you could have a pretty nifty and even economical stay.
But the more important point is that the economy of Las Vegas and Nevada depend to a large extent on tourism, and to discourage that activity it is to economically depress the state further. And anything that depresses one state depresses the country as a whole.
Obama’s remarks could also be construed as discouraging vacationing and tourism in general. There are more states than Nevada that depend heavily on that sort of thing — Vermont, for one, and perhaps even his home state of Hawaii, a rather expensive place to visit.
No city (or state) is an island entire of itself, even if it happens to consist of islands, like Hawaii. Each state is part of our economy, which is a complex and interrelated system. If President Obama doesn’t know that already, he ought to start learning very fast.

It works for Rev. Wright, no? And that style of preacher, no? Bad, bad, people. Sinners!!
The American “middle-class” HAS too much, spends too much, keeps their homes too warm in winter, too cool in summer, uses too much ENERGY! — while the rest of the world tsk, tsk, tsks.
Bad people. Give money to Rev.Wright for his $10 Million dollar home.
Let Obama spend $300,000 of OUR money on a weekend in N.Y.
Nancy Pelosi’s family trips by Military Air Transport and $100,000 liquor bills on OUR money — Junkets to Copenhagen for Congress at 1st Class Hotels and unlimited expense accounts of OUR money.
Don’t say a word you Selfish, Bad, Bad people! Shame on you!
It’s simple- Muslim’s hate Las Vegas and Obama is just bowing down in dihhmitude to his jihadi brothers.
I see where he defended his words in a letter to Sen. Reid, but I missed the part where he actually apologizes.
Barack Obama possesses a high I.Q.—but he is intellectually lazy. He never had to work hard to achieve his goals. Obama has gotten much in return by exploiting guilt-tripped whites. We also have to realize that soft science Ivy League credentials acquired after 1975 are of dubious worth. This is especially true if one is a person of color. Let’s not delude ourselves: Obama is an affirmative action beneficiary! The job of president is far too demanding. He is way over his head.
Obama’s poll number are going to really plummet once purple state voters cease cutting him slack because of the “historical significance” of his election. They still want to give him every benefit of the doubt. But that will likely end in the near future once the purple staters realize the extent of the economic damage caused by Obama and his pals. Our nation is in deep debt similar to a guy in bankruptcy proceedings. At most, this poor slob might get a small bump in his income and live above the poverty line. He is still royally screwed.
While I do not like or respect Obama, this article pretty thin. Yes, he may have disparaged Vegas previously, but what he said in this speech I really don’t find anything wrong with. When you’re saving for College, don’t go blow that money in Vegas – seems like common sense to me – something O has shown remarkably little of hitherto. However, I get the feeling that if Obama had said, “By all means, go blow your mortgage/rent/tuition money in Vegas!” That the author would have written an indignant “article” about how in these times Obama should be encouraging people to save and be more responsible with their money. Just my $0.02, but I really don’t respect articles written by people who are rabidly foaming at the mouth, looking for a reason to be offended. Obama gives us enough genuine reasons to be offended and worried, let’s concentrate on those.
Any logical person knows that blowing money in casinos is idiotic. Las Vegas is in the gambling business and knows that there are odds in people’s decisions to gamble or not. Obama’s comments are way overblown. People who gamble won’t change their mind with so many casinos, lotteries, Super Bowl betting, etc.
The mayor of Las Vegas states the President is a “slow learner.” A Harvard graduate, a slow learner? I thought all Harvard grads are “A” students. Oh well, I’m sure that Nevada senate seat isn’t all that critical in furthering the President’s legislative agenda.
Maybe Obama feels it would have been better to spend the TARP funds in Vegas, rather than bail out things? Or perhaps he actually dislikes Reid, and this is his code-talk to indicate so? Hard to say.
Neo-neo, good article. I’ll hoist a coffee in Coolidge Corner in your honor today.
What Does the President Have Against Sin City?
–That’s easy….the Muslim faith forbids gambling.
If the Chicago mob and Obama’s mob circle are not milking it, Obama derives no benefits from Vegas. Tighten the belt means restriction of moneys to Obama managed slush funds.
What is this belt I feel tightening around my neck?
I agree it’s mostly “C” as well. He simply believes he can get away with anything he wants since that’s been the pattern of his whole life. There was an article on the internet the other day that said that the White House was being turned into a monument to Obama. People are finally starting to see this aspect of his personality which, incidentally, was visible to the whole world during the primaries of 2008.
Its just a metaphor for responsibility. Another case where a politician gets criticized for stating the obvious. One reason politicians lie all the time is because our culture is so sensitive that the truth offends people.
Or, the President is between a rock and hard place, as he views it: the party’s over and the international credit cards are maxed out, so that means printing money or going without.
You’re missing something very basic in the “don’t go somewhere fun for a vacation” strategy.
If you’re not supposed to go there for a vacation, you CERTAINLY shouldn’t go there for a corporate meeting. While Las Vegas is out, so is Orlando.
Which leaves which major convention city for people to have large meetings?
Chicago. Higher priced, less to do for fun, unionized to the hilt. Giant convention center (McCormick Place) fighting a losing battle for the vastly reduced convention meeting dollar.
Gee… it’s almost like President Obama has some sort of reason to suggest people should start having meetings in his home city, therefore enriching the local unions and government.
I am not an Obama fan, but this is being blown out of proportion. In life you have to use analogies and comparisons. He did not say anything about Las Vegas specifically being bad, just not to blow your money on blackjack when you can’t pay your real bills. Pretty smart advice, actually.
9. DaveinPhoenix:
That’s easy….the Muslim faith forbids gambling.
So does Christianity . . . “But ye who have forsaken the Eternal, ye who ignore His sacred hill, spreading tables to Good Luck, pouring libations to Fate, I make the sword your fate.”
Log. Meet Eye.
First of all, the senior Senator from Nevada is Harry Reid, the man who referred to President Obama as “light skinned” and “with no Negro dialect. Obama may have accepted Senator Reid’s apology, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t up for a little pay-back. The old saying goes, “No one forgets WHERE they buried the hatchet.”
Besides, Las Vegas is a center of capitalism where lots of money changes hands; where personal fortunes are made every day; and where people achieve success through their abilities and creativity – and not by Ivy League degrees or affirmative action. Naturally Obama can’t stand the place.
So many white people blowing money that rightfully belongs to him AND having a good time while doing it!!!No wonder the Boy King is honked off…give the Lepper Messiah a break, people.
Las Vegas a center of capitalism? Capitalism is all about free enterprise and risk-taking – but neither action is random and utterly reliant on Lady Luck! That’s not capitalism.
I object to Obama’s words because of his patriarchal, elitist snobbery; his contempt for the ‘unwashed and ignorant’ hoi polloi who are so ignorant that they can’t manage their own lives but require a Father-Figure to chide and govern them, and a Nanny-State government. This perspective of the ‘average American’ is deeply embedded in Obama’s mindset. I object.
By the way, David Thomson – I see no indication of Obama having a high IQ. His abilities to misinform and manipulate are those of any reasonable 8 year old – and he’s operated in this mode alone since he was that age. The fact that he hasn’t moved out of these tactics – which are used by those without power – into the responsible and accountable behavior of an adult – that’s the problem.
16. skeeziks:
Ah, skeeziks. You make this too easy. Your messiah may not believe in gambling, but he clearly believes in one of the other vices being that he got his start in politics turning tricks for a slumlord. Yes, he gave it up smooth for a few coins of silver.
And lo, he put his ankles behind his ears for a bit of gold.
The messiah cometh! Or at least his sugar daddy did.
Vegas is no more than a tacky, giant, “adult” version of Disneyland. It was founded by gangsters, notably Bugsy Siegel and has never really, actually looked back.
I can care less about the Vegas comment. For online gambling, pools at work, agents, ‘ad infitium’ is available in the comfort of our homes to gamble. Welcome to the 21st Century, Mr. President.
I’m perplexed by this guy who’d spent a ridiculous amount on the inauguration, complete with stupid ‘whistle stops’ and all. having a chef flown in to enjoy his favorite pizza. The WH hosting 28 parties during the holidays though oddly, no Xmas party. Don’t forget the 50,000 guests who were invited to these shindigs.
2 months ago it was, ‘..were going to spend our way out of this recession’ while today he’s feigning (though failing.. badly) fiscal restraint?
Is Mr. $1.9 trillion (000,000,000,000 zeros – Bill HJ Res. 45) telling me to watch my wallet, all the while wanting to add $6,000 more debt, per person nationwide..?
Now some will pout and defensively respond, ‘..well Bush did it..’.
Do the past poor decisions, actions excuse the present ones being made?
To paraphrase something Henry Ford said
while dining at Alice’s restaurant:
“You can go on vacation anywhere you like,
as long as it is not ‘Lost Wages’ .”
It’s simple. O.J. was tried and convicted in Las Vegas. Can anyone say, “Presidential Pardon?”
I vote B
And #4 David, “Barack Obama possesses a high I.Q.”
No offense but where did you come up with that? I am not buying that line at all. The POTUS has done nothing or said nothing in the two and a half years we have been over-exposed to him to provide any evidence (except to his blind-faith-followers) that he has more than an average I.Q.
I think we can all agree that when he is off T.P. his remarks are sometimes head-scratchers.
Trolls. Good entertainment.
Anyone else wonder if B.O.’s comments had less to do with Vegas than with Reid?
Reid is extremely vulnerable. Just about every poll shows that Nevadans have had enough of him, and that just about anybody will beat him. Yet, good ol’ Harry is still out and about doing fundraisers, as if he has a hope in hades of winning re-election.
We know that this White House is not above “encouraging” vulnerable democrats to step aside in order to give another candidate a shot at the seat. We can reasonably assume that Nevada voters will first apply their discontent over Obama’s continual Vegas bashing at the ballot box in 2010. Is it therefore possible that this latest swipe is meant to force Reid to reconsider retirement?
You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices. It’s time your government did the same.
This from a guy who has thrown a taxpayer-funded party at the White House every three days since the day he took office.
This from a guy who has quadrupled Bush’s deficit while campaigning that Bush was a profligate spender–though Bush had a Democrat Congress for his final two years, with Obama himself sitting in that Congress and voting for every spending bill that ran the deficit up.
Which leaves which major convention city for people to have large meetings?
You are correct, cirby, this is all about redirecting convention business to Chicago. Obama has scared away millions of dollars in business from Vegas, primarily hurting the union members who foolishly voted for him. Convention planners love Vegas because they always get more attendees there than when they hold their events anywhere else. But Barry has never been a fan of freedom of choice.
The problem with America is Americans. The left always wants to reeducate the masses.
“I wasn’t saying anything negative about Las Vegas. I was making the simple point that families use vacation dollars, not college tuition money, to have fun.”
What evidence does he have that families are taking money from their kids’ tuition to “have fun”? I wonder how he feels about people flying off to Hawaii for fun.
I am by no means a supporter of Barack Obama, but seriously?
Much ado about nothing.
21. BC: So Harry Reid is the beneficiary of gangster cash? Say it aint so!
Neo-Neocon has a background as a therapist.
I’d love a shrink’s analysis on Responsible families don’t do their budgets the way the federal government does. Right? When times are tough, you tighten your belts…. It’s time your government did the same.
To this layman, the statement is insane.
Obama, the biggest, most out-of-control spender in American — and possibly human — history, now tells us his own budget needs to operate like a responsible family budget?
While he spends incomprehensible amounts of borrowed money (can anyone even conceive what fourteen trillion dollars is?) funding favored political allies, he’s telling us his own administration is responsible?
Does any of this make any sense at all? Does he think we are idiots? Does he think we won’t notice the ever-expanding deficits and debt while he parties every other night and golfs on vacation in Hawaii?
Does he think everything will turn out okay if he simply tells us the government needs to be responsible while in actuality he is the most irresponsible President in history?
Did they have fun in USSR ?
Do they have fun in China, in Cuba, in Venezuela ?
Nope, therefore fun is wrong.
And soon we will have a red booklet with all the president’s sayings.
Barak Hussein Obama MMMHHH MMMHHH MMMHHH
(PS I’m getting ready for the reeducation camp)

Agreed. I’m getting tired of rants by true believers — on both sides of the Obama rift — who will use any opportunity to go off on a rant that somehow proves the point that Obama (Palin, Pelosi, Beck..) is Hitler (Mao, Stalin, Mussolini, Kermit the Frog..). As you say, there are plenty of real reasons to be concerned, offended and generally put off by the current regime. Righteous harumphing over extraneous, made-up offenses does more harm than good.
I’ve been reading Pajamas for a couple of months now. This posting doesn’t seem worthy of the site that also offers up Victor Davis Hanson, David Solway, etc. Pajamas can do better.
Same reason he has not picked a church.
“By the way, David Thomson – I see no indication of Obama having a high IQ.”
I do not have genuine doubts concerning Barack Obama’s I.Q. As matter of fact, it is his high intelligence level that initially blinds people to the man’s abysmal intellectual shallowness. I recommend that everyone sees the newly released HBO DVD “By The People: The Election Of Barack Obama.” You may be able to find it in a Red Box machine near your home. It only cost me a dollar rental fee for the day. Obama is extremely charming and lights up a room merely by walking into it. He truly possesses a magnetic personality and in a short and casual conversation seems fairly bright. The vast majority of Obama’s admirers never receive an opportunity to get past the small talk with him—and they don’t care. These people want to believe in him. White Americans particularly desire his supposed ability to forgive their own past racial sins. Obama is the messiah sent by the zeitgeist of the modern world, and offers redemption and the secular truth guaranteed to lead them to the Promised Land.
Obama’s intellectual development is similar to that of someone in their early twenties. The fact that one is highly gifted with a high I.Q. is not a guarantee that it will be put to good use. Obama is lazy and easily comparable to the physically talented athlete who refuses to do the necessary work to excel. On top of that, he is a narcissist. That is why I do not expect him to “grow” in the office of president. We are really in deep doo-doo.
Keep dissing Vegas Obama, a we, the citizens of Las Vegas, will show our displeasure during the next election for governor, the senate, and presidency. Quit using us as examples for negativity.
“You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.”
Of course not. College is expensive and hard earned dollars go to subsidizing mass idiocy amongst the students, who are then indoctrinated by ingrates who had their educations subsidized by their parents. To help protect future generations, I say let the kids get into college on their own merit and hard work, go to Vegas with your friends and the tuition money you saved, then don’t talk/twitter/blog about how much fun you’ve had.
#s 5 and 36
Agreed. I’ve been reading the articles for over a year and many if not most offer important insights. While I stopped reading most of the PJM comment threads some months back when they began morphing into troll festivals and stop reading any I start when I see them going that way, I still read and enjoy the articles themselves. With all due respect, as I’ve also read Neo-Neocon’s site independently and don’t regard this post as typical of her fare, this article reflects a pettiness more usually found on progressive sites.
Las Vegas is a great place to vacation, if you stay out of the casinos. Natural wonders like Red Rocks Canyon and the Valley of Fire are awesome, not to mention Lake Meade.
Not really a slip at all. Obama is from Chicago. Las Vegas took a lot of convention business away from Chicago over the past decade. Obama is intentionally trying to paint Las Vegas as JUST fun and no business, even though it is the convention capital of the world and the most cost effective and expedient place to have business meetings and trade shows, and is a lot more fun than having a convention in Chicago. Obama is doing what politicians are supposed to do – take care of their home town.
Why does Obama hate Vegas?
Simple: it allows filthy peasants to see how our elite gods live and become disgruntled.
We are slaves, folks,.nothing more and we should know our places. A properly ordered universe – where outcomes for the peasantry are equal – has us working stiffs living in conditions like those in Haiti with no hope or vision of anything better – a proper environment for submissive slaves.
That is why Barry and Nancy and the rest of the Feudalists in DC are so bent on socializing the country. They must grind us back to where we can’t threaten the utopia they plan for themselves and their ilk to enjoy for all eternity.
When you are a god you shouldn’t have to tolerate dissent from your property.
I just don’t like obama telling me or any other American how to spend our hard-earned money. We don’t need to be lectured by a president who is in way over his head, has put all of us in debt for the rest of our lives, while he and his cohorts spend our money lavishly on themselves, as well as giving our money to unions and anyone else who buys into their socialistic dictatorship crap. It’s like the alcoholic telling me I shouldn’t drink and drive or should only have one or two drinks a week. Um, ok… why don’t you concentrate on your drinking problem and stop projecting your disease on me? i.e. obama, why don’t you concentrate on tightening YOUR fiscal belt? I think just about most of America is well aware of how tight their own budgets are, thanks to you. Yes, YOU. Because while I hated that Bush pushed through TARP, what he did was child’s play compared to what you have put us through financially.
Stop projecting. Stop lecturing. And start taking your own advice… or prepare to face the consequences (i.e. this backlash, november 2010, november 2012, etc.).
I’d spend my money in Cape girardeau, Missouri the boyhood home of Rush Limbaugh!! There are however many people there who are STILL clinging to their guns and Jesus.
Vegas is to America what Gomer Pyle was to our beloved Marine Corps during Vietnam… Good marketing..which means good business….
Wanna Bet?
They also used to say its a place where staunch conservatives can go..to get a taste of what they missed all their lives.
True?…
I can think of two reasons he hates Las Vegas. First of all, the people who travel there by bus, car or plane have earned money and are choosing to spend it on themselves, when he thinks the perfect world does not allow for anyone to actually earn money that THEY get to decide how to spend. Secondly, even though I have never visited Las Vegas businesses, (just driven through en route to California) every single casino, down to the lowliest, has show room ensembles and shows that exhibit talent and skills that people are using to earn money for themselves. IOW, musicians, dancers, production people–all WORKING for a LIVING and making GOOD MONEY because they are good at what they do. He despises these kinds of people, because he has never worked for a living for the simple reason that he doesn’t know how to do anything that normal people are willing to pay for, repeatedly.
President Obama is an anti-capitalist Marxist; he literally hates capitalism, unless he himself is making the profit. He wants to control everything like a tin-pot dictator; however, his capitalist bashing rhetoric will not fly as many Nevada politicians have hit Obama back. Obama has since apologized. I’m not sure if his teleprompter issued an apology.
President Obama is on the precipice of a meltdown. The Democrats are scared & the Communist mask has been pulled to reveal the truth about the Democratic Party. Obama is going to destroy the Democrats with his radicalism.
16. Um, it’s only hypocrisy if you condemn something you’re actually doing.
The answer to your question is, Muslim’s don’t believe in gambling. That should tell you something.
I love it Neo! Excellent points. I have never had Las Vegas high on my list of places to visit, but I may have to change my mind and make an extra effort to get out there and see the city.
It would be far more fun to blow my money there rather than giving it to:
– the Obamas to spend on their next “date night”
or
– to some government agency where it will simply disappear into a pile of zeros.
Anyone who has flirted with socialism for a few months or years, or who has a relative who is an ardent socialist, knows why Obama equates Las Vegas with waste and evil. Socialists believe that people do not have the right to choose how to spend the money they earn. They believe that they, with their superior morality and intelligence, should direct how everyone else spends their money. Money to them is not earned. It is inequitably distributed.
Usually they believe this for everyone but themselves. Examples: Obama, who hired a book doctor named Bill Ayers and another unknown ghost writer to make his bones for him in the literary world. Pelosi, who married a rich man, and whose crooked deals in Congress have made her and her husband even richer. Reid, a crooked lawyer with crooked sons. It’s all good for them, bad for us.
Funny how Obama doesn’t tell us not to go to unionized Atlantic City
Okay, Obama is jealous.
Everyone gets to go to Vegas and boogie. He gets to stay home with Michelle, Geitner,Pelosi and Ried..I’d be pissed too…
Too simplistic? I really don’t think he means to single out Vegas. He’s just a thoughtless person. without his notes, he speaks off the top of his head and says dumb stuff. It’s who he is, an egotistical socialist, who thinks he has the world fooled.
If you don’t get out and visit Vegas soon, you may not be able to. Why? Obama is gonna tax you to death or see that your job is gone…remember, he’s redoing America, redistributing the wealth, that means you… also, Mardi Gras’s comin up!
More glitter and lights to mess with Obama’s Muslim thoughts.
Bet he has to take pepto bismol on a daily basis as he looks at a country (USA)he dislikes so much.
Mr “President:” your weak attempts at being this nation’s moral compass are getting old. Feel free to stop anytime your giant ego lets you.

– Having never been a gambler, and having an absolute faith in my Creator, I’m not sure where you’re headed with this. My point is that in my lifetime, I’ve never heard a President of the United States even mention Vegas. And now, twice in a year our dear leader is using Vegas as an example of “blowing money”. It just seems odd. Like a fixation. And with the lasting questions about this man’s faith and which religion he uses to help express his faith, I’m taking a wild guess and thinking that this man is a closet Muslim. Hey, I got no problem with any religion. It’s not like he should be ashamed of it. And… my Bible says that:
“Pride precedes a disaster, and an arrogant attitude precedes a fall. Better to be humble with lowly people than to share stolen goods with the arrogant people.”
Considering the way student loans and federal grants work in punishing people who saved for college, and considering that Obama want’s to cap payments and forgive all student loan debt after 10 or 20 years, you’d be stupid to save for college and not go to Vegas today.
I have often defended Obama, but this time he has gone too far.
How dare he imply that I should save money for my kids’ college education rather than take it to Vegas? What is he thinking? The next thing you know this pompous fool will be telling black kids that they should pay more attention in school. The guy is clearly a lunatic.
President Obama is at heart a Chicago Democrat.
He has never forgiven Las Vegas for its efforts to separate itself from organized crime.
Dwight,
You are trying to be funny and it’s not working.
Buuuut, I do agree Obama’s a pompus fool, and kids should pay more attention, (not just the black ones that you want paying attention)
and he is a lunatic
Kids should pay their own way to college. They appreciate the whole thing more. Their parents should go to Vegas.
Alright then, if this is just small potatos and not really worthy of our time, then when will Obama start to practice what he just preached?
My fellow Americans, not to worry! Obama hath now spoke again and hath specifically directed his Corpse to dial a “doubling of exports” into the Fantasyland Model!
Just a few last thoughts on the whole college money and Vegas dust-up. Years earlier, when faced with the same question, I wish Obama would have gone to Vegas instead. He might have learned something and not be so anti-American. And who paid for his education? Oh, that’s right, we don’t really know.
Barry is starting to remind me of a former boyfriend, wait, or two, who always wanted to tell me how to spend my money. Yes, they had the same goal, take my money and spend it themselves. And the more they *explained* their view, the more it did not work. Oh wait, didn’t a spot just open up in an addiction program? Wonder if they treat spendaholics.
America needs a leader, not a reader. ABO 2012.

Yes, he’s so lunatic he thinks he’s the President of the USA . . .
I’m so glad people have ‘Tea Parties’ to keep him in check . . .

What does Obama have against Vegas?
It’s simple. When it comes to separating people from their money for valueless, pointless and absurd reasons the Federal Government really hates any competition of any kind. Especially if it’s elective.
You’ve got to love the way this article contradicts the article on the way the liberals support the porn-star. Hey, I understand, the Republicans want to control the government AND dismiss any attempts at moral reform as P.C. Stalinism AND criticize the Dems for amorality AND support Vegas gambling and prostitution. Maybe you guys should get out of your P.J.s and talk to actual people. If there’s Stalinism in the air, it’s from people like you trying to control what everyone does and says, while condemning your opponents as Stalinists. Good is Evil. Pay attention, P.J. readers, if you can. They’re pulling your strings.
68…I so totally disagree with you and your concepts of “people like you”.
As Conservatives, humans, Americans, we may get “our strings” pulled from time to time..but the liberals are trying to tie America up in strings and smother the life out of us.
