What Did You Say About Muhammad?!

As Muslims fume over Western cartoons of Muhammad, check out the disturbing things non-Westerners publicly say — and get away with — about the prophet. (And don't miss Zombie: "Fatwa Headbutt: Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks attacked.")

Which is more likely to elicit an irate Muslim response: 1) public cartoons of the Muslim prophet Muhammad, or 2) public proclamations that Muhammad was a bisexual, sometime transvestite and necrophile, who enjoyed sucking on the tongues of children, commanded a woman to “breastfeed” an adult man, and advised believers to drink his urine for salutary health?

Based on the recent South Park fiasco — where an animated episode depicting Muhammad in a bear suit sparked outrage among various Muslim groups, culminating with the usual death threats — the answer is clear: cartoons, once again, have proven to be the Muslim world’s premiere provocateur. Indeed, just yesterday, during a university lecture, Swedish artist Lars Vilks, whose life is in jeopardy due to his depiction of Muhammad as a dog, was violently assaulted to undulations of “Allahu Akbar!” (Islam’s primordial war cry).

Yet how can cartoons rouse Muslim ire more than public assertions that Muhammad was a bisexual, a transvestite, a necrofile, et al? First, context:

The evangelical Arabic satellite station, al-Haya (Life TV), regularly takes the Muslim prophet to task, especially on two weekly programs: Hiwar al-Haq (Truth Talk), hosted by Coptic priest Fr. Zakaria Botros, and Su’al Jari’ (Daring Question), hosted by ex-Muslim Rashid. Both shows revolve around asking uncomfortable questions about Islam and its founder in an effort to prompt Muslims to reconsider the legitimacy of their faith. (It is on these shows that the aforementioned, unflattering assertions of Muhammad originate; see here and here for English summaries.)

These broadcasts are viewed by millions of Arabic-speaking Muslims around the world. That the satellite station strikes a Muslim nerve is evinced by the fact that it is formally banned in several Muslim nations, including Saudi Arabia, and is regularly condemned by Islam’s demagogues on mainstream Arabic media, including al Jazeera.

When the programs first began airing, they certainly caused uproar in the Muslim world. Then, Muslims regularly called in cursing the hosts, promising them death and destruction (both here and in the hereafter). Al-Qaeda reportedly put a $60 million bounty on Fr. Zakaria’s head; and the priest is on CAIR’s radar. (See the father explain his mission in this rare English interview.)

Far from being cowed by the daily death threats, however, Life TV and its unrepentant hosts have responded by upping the ante and providing even more anecdotes discrediting Muhammad. Rashid recently examined the theological implications of Muhammad’s hatred for the gecko lizard, which the prophet accused of being “an infidel and enemy of the believers.” Muslims who kill it in the first strike receive 100 “heavenly-points,” whereas those who kill it in two strikes receive only 70. More graphically, Fr. Zakaria recently  examined canonical hadiths (authenticated Muslim accounts) that record Islam’s first believers eating Muhammad’s feces, marinating food in his sweat, drinking the water he gargled and spit out, and smearing  his phlegm all over their faces — all to his approval.

  1. What always amazes me is when people say, “You can’t offend Muslims because the represent one-third of humanity.” Well, nobody ever looks at the other side of that argument. So is it OK to offend, let alone attack, on a regular basis the other two-thirds of humanity that is NOT Muslim? Last time I checked, two-thirds is bigger than one-third and that ain’t bad. So why is the majority so very afraid of the minority in this world? Muslims remind me of small, spoiled, children who threaten to throw a tantrum whenever they don’t get what they want. If the other two-thirds of mankind, roughly four billion people, just tell the Muslims to get lost (AND MEAN IT), I wonder how anxious Muslims will be to take on the rest of the world? Always stand tall against tyrants, dictators, religious fanatics, and bullies. They always back down in the end, but only if you show the will to stand up to them.

  2. 2. Anonymous By Necessity

We need to challenge the idea that certain beliefs and practices are beyond scrutiny and criticism merely because they are religious. If a religion is valid it can withstand scrutiny. Good for Life TV. Good for people born into Islam who are willing to examine the life of Mohammed.

    • Ruebacca

Mohammad killed thousands of people, mutilated, tortured, raped and stole from thousands more. All facts that Muslims know very well.

Mohammad has no place next to Jesus, Buddha or Confucius.

  3. 3. What is "occupation"

To all members of the Islamic faith…

I was there when you so called Prophet murdered My People in Arabia..

I remember the beheadings, the rapes, the looting, the forced slavery of my children, your taking of our women…

So with all due respect to your so called “prophet” mohammed?

He is a jackal, a molester, a thief..

Never had an original good idea….

If any Moslems read this and don’t like it?

    GOOD…..

Just know that some of us UNDERSTAND your death cult since we have been there BEFORE your jackass of a faith was started…

Just know we will do all we can to mock, ridicule and destroy your evil ways…

    COUNT ON IT..

We WILL teach your daughters to rebel…

We WILL lead your sons astray….

    COUNT ON IT..

Don’t like it? I suggest try wearing condoms and not have kids….

My dream for muslims….a figure of mohammad out of manure in a urine filled case on display in New York.
I would like to know how the ACLU would react. See if it’s the same as it was any christian figures that were on display.. We have a double standard…or is it cowardice as we saw with South Park.

Islam, like other totalitarian ideologies, employs intimidation & violence to impose censorship; it is a deliberate tactic. And, like other totalitarian ideologies, it cannot withstand objective analysis. What is particularly disturbing to Islam is that the criticism is valid, supported by evidence, is an accurate portrait of a very nasty belief-system. In my opinion, Islam should NOT be respected, quite the contrary. No opportunity to confront Islam should be missed. It should be ridiculed, exposed, mocked, not with insults but with truth. We need to stop the white-wash, the idiot platitudes of the politically correct. And, the life of Mohammed is definitely a point of weakness.

  5. 5. Tallgrass

“Put differently, if you voluntarily act like a dhimmi — a subjugated non-Muslim who must live in debased humility — you will be treated like a dhimmi (including by being killed for the slightest offense); conversely, if you assert yourself like a freeman, you will be perceived as a freeman — even as you are hated.”

Does this say anything at all about the way the POTUS has acted? Bowing down to dictators and kings . . . and now changing policy toward acts of terrorism.

  6. Islam cannot be civilized as long as it commands its allegiants to accept the Qur’an as the literal, immutable and unchallengeable Word of God, and the historical Muhammad as the Perfect Man. It can only attempt to evade the display of its true nature, while attempting to cast aspersions on those who insist on it.

Islam is toxic to human life, and must be evicted from the nations of the West before it poisons us all.

  7. 7. Thomas_L.....

Yep, that Mohammad sounds like quite the guy! A regular paragon of something or other. Do muslims actually know these things about him? And they say Christians believe weird stuff.

  8. 8. Duncan Druhl

Disgusting character. Then again, we’re talking about the 7th century in the desert. God only knows what those people were up to over there. Europe was busy warring with each other and everyone. North American natives were doing some of the same – some tribes, not all. While South America was filled with the dead bodies of people being sacrificed to gods of various forms, drinking blood. China was isolating themselves and Japan was in the midst of a society of bullies, ruled by the head bully.

Personally, I prefer today’s western technical comforts and flush toilets.

    • Doug

Modern Western civilization is the culmination of Christian practice. Even atheists unwittingly hold Christian values to be superior to what came before. People who point to historical Christian faults are generally looking at societies that were barely Christianized and generally minority Christian. Our modern ideals are the realization of Christian teaching.

The tolerance of free will and defining mercy to be a virtue (vice a weakness) are uniquely Christian concepts.

      • Phillep Harding

Don’t get too full of yourself, bub. Buddhism is an atheistic faith, just the best known as there are several others.

    • Sinologist

On the contrary, when Islam was established, China was entering one of the highest points of its long civilization, the Tang Dynasty, when it was most open to foreign ideas and influences: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tang_dynasty

  9. well, if you would like to stand up for freedom, please participate in the Everyone Draw Mohammed movement. my site is one place where you can participate:(http://everyonedrawmohammed.blogspot.com/)

No censorship practiced, and no artistic quality necessary. seriously, alot of these really stink.

  10. 10. tanstaafl

What’s worse, such self-imposed censorship falls right into the hands of homegrown Islamists actively working to subvert Western civilization from within.

America’s Left and Islamists share the common goal of the destruction of western civilization.

Muslim outrage — as with all human outrage — is predicated on how well it is tolerated. Continuously appeased, it becomes engorged and insistent on more concessions; ignored, it deflates and, ashamed of itself, withers away.

Islamists have the number of the meek, infantile’s west’s political correctness and are dialing in repeatedly to exploit it.

We’ve forgotten this wisdom, the truth of this observation…

“An appeaser feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.”

    ~W. Churchill

  11. 11. GM Roper

Islam, in general is like a spoiled child throwing a tantrum because he was denied, then the parents giving in to “keep the peace” and to be liked by the child.

What the child needs is a swift swat on the seat of the pants.

  12. 12. AB5

It may not be fair to hold Fr. Zakaria Botros up as some sort of example. He is a unique individual altogether. We can hardly expect the average secular manager of a newspaper or TV show in the West to have the same fortitude. Theoretically it would be good for the West to collectively engage in mocking Islam and Muhammad, it should even be used as a tactic to enrage the so-called Muslim street. But in the end, the average citizen of the West should be able to live their lives in peace, free of death threats from Muslims. If Islam is allowed to continue to spread in the West our descendants will be forced to deal with all of the terrible consequences, terrorism, loss of freedom of speech, loss of freedom of religion, ultimately the loss of democracy and freedom altogether. It isn’t enough even if everyone joined together in mocking or criticizing Islam and Muhammad. Islam isn’t going to change, not now, not in 1000 years, and it will whether mocked or criticized or not still destroy the West if allowed to spread here.

    • Terry, Eilat - Israel

      AB5.

Islam will not change but Muslims can change. Islam is far more vulnerable to defections than you imagine. This, of course, is one reason why they are so sensitive to criticism. I know this from personal experience.

      • GDT

You may be right. Neither Islam no Muslims may change. However – what the rest of the world is prepared to tolerate FROM Muslims in the name of Islam CAN change – and that is all that really matters.

        • AB5

Even if some Muslims leave Islam, that still leaves the unchanged Islam which will destroy so-called Western democracies. The West, America in particular, cannot allow Islam to spread here. It is a suicide death wish. We know that not all Muslims will leave Islam, so if Islam spreads throughout the West we will have ALL of the same problems that everyone else has had wherever Islam has spread. People are living in some sort of fantasy land when they believe that “rule of law” or the American Constitution and Bill of Rights will someone be enough to keep Islam from destroying our rights, one by one, and then ultimately the Constitution itself. Individuals acting on their own self-interest will self-censor – just to stay alive, businesses will self-censor, history books will be rewritten, laws passed to placate Muslim demands, food menus changed, the list NEVER ends until that point full Sharia replaces infidel manmade laws. We need to keep Islam out of the West. It only began spreading here 50 years ago and already we are seeing the terrorist acts and the other problems starting.

        • AB5

And for all intents and purposes anyone leaving Islam is going to be someone who probably didn’t believe in it in the first place, they were just forced into it as 99.99% of the people who call themselves Muslim are. So they wouldn’t be the ones committing terrorist Jihad. They were just Muslim because they couldn’t leave on pain of death. The only way to really provide a way for people to leave Islam is to keep the West free of Islam and allow ex-Muslims to immigrate. Any country with enough Muslims doesn’t need “laws” to enforce any or all of the demands of Islam – the only demands of Islam that can be ignored are those that the state uses force of arms to keep the Muslims from enforcing. If someone relies on the state to protect them when the leave Islam, or when they draw a Muhammad cartoon, or whatever they do, they will end up dead. Only those who can afford 24/7 security can afford to cross Islam. And churches and all sorts of other infidel buildings and businesses have to incur excessive extra security costs to protect their possessions from Islamic terror. The whole fabric of the society is destroyed by Islam long before Sharia Law is formally adopted.

An imam from the UK sees a political cartoon with a depiction of all the great lawgivers, including Mohammed. He seizes the opportunity and takes copies of the cartoon back home to the Middle East, where he riles up the faithful. A few riots later, the cartoonist and the UK government refuse to apologize and the furor dies.

This happened in 1920 to David Low, British cartoonist.

Yes, as you say, “the South Park incident is less a reflection of Muslim anger and more of Western appeasement.” Our appeasement will kill us.

  14. 14. Rob Crawford

“whereas Muslims have no choice but to interpret South Park’s and Lars Vilk’s caricatures of Muhammad as egregiously offensive — no known Muslim records depict Muhammad as a bear or dog”

Huh? When did South Park show Mohammed as a bear? They showed him wearing a bear costume.

Nice article; pity it’s seriously damaged by getting such a basic fact wrong.

    • Bohemond

And the real gag lay in the fact that it turned out not to be Big Mo in the bear suit at all, but Santa Claus.

  15. 15. MarkD

I have as much respect for Islam as it has for me.

  16. 16. Bohemond

“the South Park incident is less a reflection of Muslim anger and more of Western appeasement. By constantly buckling in to the slightest Muslim displeasure…the West has perpetuated a vicious cycle wherein Muslim sensitivities are ever heightened and outraged at the slightest slight, and Western freedoms of expression are correspondingly diminished and trampled upon”

Amen. But then this dovetails nicely with the Left’s PC crusdade against free speech and its essentially racist addiction to identity politics and grievancemongering.

  17. 17. Paul -Indiana

Ramadan begins August 11, 2010. Once again we will be treated to stories of the grand fasting which lasts an entire month. Well, not exactly. The fast is only during the daylight hours, however defined. During ‘darkness’ Muslims can pig out to their heart’s content, eating and drinking to any degree. Now, I’ll grant you that going without food and water all day is not easy, but if the participants eat and drink their fill just before dawn, I’m sure that they can coast at least until noon. Given that, I think any of us could handle the ‘rigors’ of a ‘month long’ fast. Compare that routine to a Christian’s fast which goes on 24 hours per day and you can see who is really fasting.

    • AlmostaCowboy

And, every day at sunset, for the entire month, KNX1070 (CBS Los Angeles) radio will play the Adhan (Islamic call to prayer). But, never – not once in the 35 years I have lived in the Los Angeles area has KNX played “Christ Was Born on Christmas Day” or “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” or “Little Town of Bethlehem”

  18. 18. Seerak

Conversely, by holding fast to onetime secularWestern principles of free speech and open dialogue, Life TV has conditioned its Muslim viewers to accept that exposure and criticism of their prophet is here to stay.

    FTFY.

Indeed, this is a key part of how the rise of the Enlightenment civilized the Christians.

    • RRR

Nice sentiment, but naive. No Martin Luther teaching the priesthood of all believers=no Enlightenment. The turnover in Western Civilization was the expansion of Luther’s teaching into the broader social structure (re: the Peasant Revolts). But even that wasn’t original with Luther. Catholicism had been heading for reform since the Avignon Papacy, at least, and especially with the Renaissance popes.

Western secularism is derivative. Ignoring that and claiming it “civilized” Christianity is simplistic and self-serving. It’s noticeable that such a high and mighty claim would ignore the vaunted Enlightenment principles of the French Revolution and how secularly-civilized they treated their enemies. Surely that just slipped your mind!

That said, the Enlightenment’s initial strength was in truth claims resting on the scientific method. Within the backdrop of events like the Thirty Years War, this had great appeal. But to claim that the Enlightenment civilized Christianity is laughable.

Human nature being what it is, when the race has the power to enforce “truth,” whatever the ideology, it will be enforced–the reason for diligence in any era, even when “our side” is in control.

      • billhedrick

If you want to point to any outside force “civilizing” Christianity, I would point to the religious wars of the 16th and 17th centuries whose lasting benefit was the realization that killing people over doctrine doesn’t change folks minds. Christian Countries learned to not kill folks for doctrinal issues. While they do feel free to condemn them to hell for them, they no longer kill them wholesale for differing ideas about the Lord’s Supper and baptism.

      • MarkTheGreat

During the Reformation, reformers called on Christians to return to the principles espoused in the Bible.

The problem with Islam is that it’s followers are already following the principles espoused in the Koran.

        • TheG-man

          Right on Mark.

If anything, the Enlightenment caused more trouble in the long-run than good as the movement largely attempted to distance itself from Christianity.
The real driving force for Christian reformation was the introduction of the King James Bible. By introducing massed quantities of an English translation of the Bible (with incredible attention to accurate translation), people had the ability to see for themselves the teachings within. Doing so, they began to question the status quo.

I wonder as to the Muslim relation to this fact:
How many can read the Koran?
How devout are those who are literate versus those who are not?
Knowing that a large literate population have made themselves hostile, exactly how familiar are they with the Koran?
Do they base their faith upon their own interpretations or someone else’s?
And, does knowledge of the Koran’s contents aid or impede fanaticism? Etc.

    • Terry Gain

Free speech, including the right of atheists to spout nonsense, was brought to North America by Christians and Jews.

      • Frank

What is nonsense about being an atheist?

        • AB5

It takes more faith (frankly an insane amount of blind faith) to believe that the world, even just our physical bodies, the structure of cells and DNA etc., let alone our consciousness and ability to think, came about randomly through mutations or whatever other mumbo jumbo evolutionary theory someone wants to dream up. Using pure simple statistical science, it would be impossible for a random selection process to have stepped through all the combinations possible in even a few of the variables involved in the complex structures that make life possible. So if the world was one thousand trillion years old – and the evolutionaries don’t claim it is that old, it still wouldn’t have had time to evolve the complex DNA structures and other basic cell properties even if stepping through each mutation one every second. And if the world “always existed” it would have reached some sort of stable state by now, that is the temperature variations we see would have evened out by now, if it obeyed the laws of physics that we see operating in our own limited world.

          • MLY

AB5 — No truer words were spoken.

          • MarkTheGreat

            That is truely sad.

          • AB5

            MarkTheGreat “That is truely sad.”

MarkTheGreat “He didn’t say that atheism was nonsense, he said that atheists spout nonsense.
The difference is subtle, but it doesn’t take a belief in God to understand it.”

When you say “That is truely sad” you are doing what people with a truly blind religious faith do, dismiss an argument without any actual basis other than that you are emotionally attached to your own beliefs and “feel sad” for anyone who doesn’t see things the way that you do, the way that is “obviously” true. Your position is truly nonsensical, and that is not subtle at all.

        • MarkTheGreat

He didn’t say that atheism was nonsense, he said that atheists spout nonsense.
The difference is subtle, but it doesn’t take a belief in God to understand it.

          • Skydiver

Atheists can not be argued with about faith. Logic’s do not exist and arguments are always “prove it”. Not a single thing can be disapproved, but that does not bother them. It’s pointless to argue with a child. It’s (child’s) mind operates on different level.

The South Park duo of Parker and Stone showed this up perfectly a couple of years ago, with their first episode featuring Mohammed. Their “Family Guy” parody had a scene where Mohammed appears at the front door holding a football helmet. That was it – didn’t say a word, wasn’t made fun of, and Comedy Central promptly blacked out that part. Immediately afterward, the episode had Jesus Christ, George Bush, and Dick Cheney literally defecating on one another, and on the American flag. That, of course, was shown in its entirety. The powers that be at Comedy Central aren’t afraid of “offending” the sensitivities of Muslims; they’re f***ing cowards, and Parker and Stone held it up to the light.

    • Azathoth

Except that the ‘Family Guy’ episode(Cartoon Wars?) wasn’t their first depiction of Mohammed. He was very visible in the ‘Super Best friends episode–where he, with the ‘power of fire’, along with Jesus, Buddha, Moses, Joseph Smith, Confucious, and Sea Man fought David Blaine.

That episode is available on DVD and, until recently, still ran in re-runs.

And muslims didn’t say a word.

The reason the Western world cowers fear shivering in a corner in the face of Islamic outrage is that is in the Transnational Left’s interest to do so. The people’s grip on Christianity, or any other belief system except the State must be broken. Thus PC must reign triumphant. The Tranzis appreciate that they share a goal with Islam. Submission. The Tranzis think that once they’ve crowded the West into the Church of the State, Islam will be an easy thing to beat back. Muslims, to Tranzis, are just useful idiots to frighten Westerners.

  21. Meanwhile, the swedish cartoonish is defiant after this attack.

    http://everyonedrawmohammed.blogspot.com/2010/05/lars-vilks-is-defiant-of-terrorists.html

And i have way too much fun with it.

  22. What happened yesterday to Lars Vilks during his lecture is an instructive moment as to where we are headed. Muslim lands are deeply dysfunctional. “Honor” killings, bombings aplenty, backward and broken economies, mothers raising their young to blow themselves up, despots ruling the roost. They got it all and them some. Problem is that Muslims are fleeing this dysfunction and bringing it all with them to our tolerant western societies and in the bargain agitating to change our functioning, creative and prosperous societies to what they left behind. And we are letting them by benefit of “diversity” and political correctness. Imams coach them on how to navigate and manipulate our systems to their advantage. It is a population war folks. When there are more of them than us, we too will have Irans, Syrias and Iraqs right here in the states.

  23. 23. Joe

“whereas Muslims have no choice but to interpret South Park’s and Lars Vilk’s caricatures of Muhammad as egregiously offensive — no known Muslim records depict Muhammad as a bear or dog”

South Park did not depict Muhammad as a bear. The South Park episode very carefully avoided insulting Muhammad in any way. While simultaneously depicting Jesus watching porn, and Buddha as a cocaine user, the only joke about Muhammad was that other characters were unwilling to allow him to be seen and heard. There is nothing insulting or offensive about the cartoon — its purpose was to show that other people reacted insanely to it.

Three strangers at the Great Falls airport are awaiting their flights.
One is a Native American on his way to Helena for a statewide Indian Pow-Wow.
Another a ranch hand on his way to Billings Montana for a stock show.
The third passenger is a fundamentalist Arab student, newly arrived, and on his way to study engineering at Montana Tech.
To pass the time they strike up a conversation on recent events, and the discussion drifts to their diverse cultures.
Soon the westerners learn that the Arab is a devout radical Muslim, and believes his people are justified in their ‘holy’ war.
The conversation falls into an uneasy lull. The cowpoke leans back in his chair, crosses his boots on a magazine table and tips his big sweat-stained hat forward over his face.
The wind outside blows and blows and the old windsock flaps but no plane comes.
Finally, the Native American clears his throat and softly he speaks:” Once, my people were many, now we are few.”
The radical Muslim raises an eyebrow and leans forward, “Once my people were few,” he sneers, “and now we are many. Why do you suppose THAT is?”
The Cowboy shifts the toothpick to one side of his mouth and from the darkness beneath his Stetson Cowboy Hat says, “That’s ’cause we ain’t played Cowboys and Muslims yet boy, but I do believe that day is comin’”

  25. 25. Odysseus

Not that I am defending Islam nor do I believe this is the reason, but Life TV backs up their claims with Islam’s own documents. Comedy Central and the Mohammed Cartoons poke fun at Islam just for the fun of it. That’s a big, albeit subtle difference, a subtlety I’m sure is lost on most Muslims.

I do agree with the author that a lot of it probably has to do with Western Political Correctness, the scourge that will be the death of us all.

Mohammed was was a prophet in the same sense that Jeffrey Dahmer was a Chef.

  27. 27. David Holmes

If Islam, or any other religion, is to be considered just and worthy of consideration then we should be free to question its morals and virtues. Lord Atkin sums this up nicely, when he says:
“Justice is not a cloistered virtue: she must be allowed to suffer the scrutiny and respect, even though outspoken, comments of ordinary men.”
It is the outspoken part that Islam is so against and intent on stifling. Is it because it cannot withstand the scrutiny for fear of it being discovered as a religion of violence and oppression?
Only bigots and fools unconditionally stand by a belief that cannot withstand simple and rational discussion.
Liberty46 expresses the reaction by Muslims to those who question the Koran and teachings of Mohammed – “a naughty child throwing a tantrum.” The truth will always remain elusive if we continue to bow down to this religion of “peace”.
To those who claim Islam is a religion of peace, I ask you to show me proof. On a daily basis there is proof that Islam is responsible for most of the violence occurring in the world today.
To dispute this claim we need to have open and rational discussion – which is routinely forbidden by those who subscribe to this religion. How can this religion have any integrity when the penalty for denouncing it is death.
The sooner we stand united and chisel away at its foundations the sooner we will have a more peaceful world to live in.

  28. 28. Larry in the Silicon

We do see some outbursts of Christian chauvinism here. ‘Mercy’ is not in fact a Christian idea but comes straight out of Judaism. So too with many other ‘Christian’ ideas and ideals; they are variations of pre-existing Jewish ones. This is not to deride Christianity, but to point out that there is a difference between a Christian conservative who truly acknowledges the contribution of Judaism to the underpinnings of ‘Western culture’ and those who use the situation with Islam (war) to claim that Christianity is the only humanizing or democratizing belief system in the world. This is false, and gives rise to feelings among Jews or others that there isn’t all that much to choose from between Islam and certain fundamentalist brands of Christianity.

If we look honestly at the evolution of Christianity up to, through and beyond the Roman Church, then we can see that it is a mixture of watered-down Judaism and all sorts of pagan concepts, Greek-Egyptian-Babylonian. That is, the very concepts that Christians and others frequently call ‘Freemasonry’ and then associate with the ‘New World Order’ – for which ‘the Rothschilds’ (see: Protocols of the Elders of Zion) and the Jews are blamed.

I’ll stick with Jewish teachings; it’s just wearying to see how easy – and necessary – it is for some Christians to claim credit for what is not theirs.

    • GS

You make a good point here, though in all fairness many Christian denominations (I’m Eastern Orthodox) not only denote the essential “Jewish-ness” of Christianity, but also point out that Jews have a particular covenant with the Lord that wasn’t abrogated by Christ’s teachings. Given that Christians are more supportive of Israel in many cases than American Jews, and I would say that you have a lot less to worry about from us than the Mohammedans.

      • GS

Hmm, missed some of the end of your post there.. Judaism doesn’t go out of its way to proselytize. The more orthodox of Jews don’t include those born to Jewish fathers with non-Jewish mothers. Clearly, the Lord might have taken another tack, as it were, with us poor gentiles. Also, you may want to read up on some history there, because the Judaism expounded by the Sadducees, who were the traditionalists, lost out to the Pharisees, who took a few outside ideas of their own from Zoroastrianism in particular.

No problem with Jews (my adopted father and obviously that whole side of my family are Jewish) but you can’t come in with nonsense about little choice between fundamentalist Christians (they’re oh so dangerous) and Muslims, when they’re the ones walking around with a book that has “The Transgressions of the Jews” as a chapter and advocating another holocaust, and we’re saying “the Jews have a covenant with G-D and Israel is theirs”.

        • TheG-man

          GS put it nicely.

To expand Larry, I think the term you driving at is the Judeo-Christian relationship. As GS pointed out, fundamentalist Christians largely acknowledge the relationship between Christianity and Judaism; this is why Christians make-up such a large portion of Israel’s foreign support.

I’d be careful about identifying Christian faiths in regard to the timeline of the Roman Catholic Church. GS is Eastern Orthodox and I’m Baptist, neither of these faiths are so-called Protestant faiths as neither were direct results of the Reformation – in fact, they predate it.

As for the New World Order, take everything about Freemasonry with a grain of salt. They trace themselves back to the building of Solomon’s temple to identify themselves based on their skilled trade. The “free” aspect is a result of allowing non-skilled members of similar faith into the association. Conspiracy theories make a mountain out of a molehill from them. It’s like fearing a New World Order out of the Shriners or Salvation Army.

    • Azathoth

‘Mercy’ is not in fact a Christian idea but comes straight out of Judaism. So too with many other ‘Christian’ ideas and ideals; they are variations of pre-existing Jewish ones.

Oh, yes, no one, not one single faith or civilization in the world thought up ‘mercy’ before the Jews. Please.

All ‘Christian’ and ‘Jewish’ ideals predate both Judaism and Christianity–even the whole ‘son of god’ one.

      • myth buster

Not to the extent that Judaism, and therefore, Christianity did. In fact, in Hebrew, the word for mercy (“ruth”) is the same as the word for love.

Humor inspired by the British & American soldiers fighting for freedom in Afghanistan

YOU MAY BE A TALIBAN/JIHADIST IF:

    1. You refine heroin for a living but have a moral objection to beer, pot and vaccines.

    2. You own a $3,000 machine gun and a $5,000 rocket launcher but can’t afford shoes for your children.

    3. You have more wives than teeth. And more children then all your fingers, toes, teeth and wives combined.

    4. You wipe your ass with your bare left hand, but consider bacon, dogs and women “unclean”.

    5. You think vests come in three styles: bullet proof, suicide, and disguise.

    6. You can’t think of anyone you haven’t declared jihad against, and never stop trying to.

    7. You consider radio and television seriously dangerous to the people, but routinely carry explosives in your clothes.

    8. You were amazed to discover that cell phones have uses other than setting off roadside bombs.

    9. You have nothing against women, if barefoot, pregnant and shrouded, and think every man should own at least two.

    10. You’ve always had a crush on your neighbors goat, camel and child.

    11. You believe world civilization reached its peak of perfection in 632 CE, and plan to soon bring it back to that level.

    12. You’ve heard of books besides the Quran, and hope someday to burn some.

    13. You think the Holocaust is a lie told by Jews in their evil plot to take over the world, but you long to make it true, after you succeed in your divine plot to take over the world.

    14. You long, and fight, for a pure Muslim homeland, besides the 57 you already have. But the Jews don’t get even one.

    15. You say “there is no compulsion in religion”, but only when all other religions admit your superiority, or when there is only one religion.

    16. You say that a few Jews and Christians (at best) will be saved from Hell, but only those who have who have followed the True Religion, i.e. Islam.

    17. When questioned you always point to the ONE verse in the Quran that recommends peace, and ignore the 500 that recommended war. But not in practice.

    18. Your God is merciful and good, but He spends 50% of His Holy Book drooling over the brutal suffering of non-Muslims in Hell, and the punishment He claims you will give US in this life.

    19. Your God is forgiving and kind, but killing for Islam is the Only Sure Way to AVOID Hell. Like helping Humankind is for Jews (who don’t believe in hell), or giving your life to Jesus is for Christians.

    20. “Slavery is Freedom”, “War is Peace” and “Backwards is Forewards” make perfect sense to you.

    21. You believe movies, music and unveiled women are snares of Satan, but violence is commanded by Allah for a higher place in Heaven.

    22. You believe the Quran is for all mankind (whether they want it or not) but can only be read in medieval Arabic.

    23. You claim Switzerland’s vote to ban new minarets (but not new Mosques) is “racist”, but banning all Churches, Synagogues and Hindu/Buddhist/Shinto/Other Temples from even existing in Saudi Arabia, and most other Muslim countries, is the Divine Will of Allah.

    24. You demand that Muslims be allowed unrestricted immigration to all Western Countries, but non-Muslims are forbidden to even enter the City of Mecca.

    25. You know that everything that happens is Predestined by Allah, but that you must learn and follow a million pointless rules for every action of the day to avoid offending Him. And you don’t want to offend Him!!

    26. You believe that Muhammad’s “Overnight-Flight” from Mecca to Jerusalem on his Magical Flying Horse (I am not making this up) gives you the right to appropriate the 3000 yr. old Jewish Temple for yourselves. (yes, they really believe this).

    27. You can recite from memory the entire Quran in Arabic, and someday hope to read a translation in your own language so you can find out what it says. (Until then you’ll take your Imams’ word it’s all good).

    28. A few satirical Dutch cartoons drive you into a worldwide burning/killing rage, yet many weeks-long Muslim State-produced miniseries of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion are “educational”. Yet there are no worldwide (or any) Jewish riots over them.

    29. You think the separation of Church and State is a Satanic plot, yet separation of adult men and women is ordained by Allah, and if you disagree you must be killed. (an actual recent Saudi Arabian Religious Authority fatwa). And yet gays are killed too.

    30. You think Adam (but not Eve), Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad were all actually Muslims, just like the Mormons know that they were all actually Mormons. And they also kill gays.

    31. You know the Devil is not really hiding under your bed – you’re not children! You just believe He is hidng in your bathroom so He can see your pee pee. (A Muslim Imam told me this personally)

    32. To you a central “spiritual” debate by “religious” authorities is whether all men will have permanent erections in Heaven, or whether they will get erect at will. Also whether women will be virgins perpetually or will be re-virgined after each use.

    33. You believe that Moses (Jew-liberating, 10 Commandments giving), was a pious dolt, and that Jesus (loving your neighbor as yourself, giving up your life for a friend) was a fraud, who was never actually crucified, was not the Son of God, but gave a sermon immediately after being born. (It’s in the Quran)

    34. And yet you believe Muhammad: a mass murdering, woman raping, slave trading, caravan raiding, Jew hating, narcissistic, genocidal, pedophile Warlord is a perfect role model for all time. And Islam is the most peaceful of Religions.

    35. Blowing up two 2000 yr old Buddhist statues is…. I can’t even think of a way to make this funny. Muslims.

An Islamophobe is a non-Muslim who wants to stay that way.

A Muslim extremist is the one issuing the death threats, a muslim moderate is the one explaing why you deserve it.

  30. 30. ldd

Wasn’t South Parks depiction of ole stinko-mo as a cute teddy bear in reference to that incident in Africa where they wanted to kill a female school teacher because the classroom of (male only) young students, African muslim kids, picked that name themselves?
Had to give her the bums rush out the country to prevent her head from being removed by murdering masses of muslims, while she was protected from inside a jail cell until her departure from the dark continent?

What is so weird about this is that nobody on earth could tell you what Mohammed looked like. But if he looked anything like his current terrorist followers, he’d probably disown them all.

I don’t know about all the salacious stories about him, but I don’t much trust them, because they didn’t start writing down the Koran or his sayings and other stories for several hundred years after he died.

  32. 32. Almostacowboy

    Welcome to “freedom”, Mr. Ibrahim.
#1 – No one has the right to kill someone because they were simply “offended”.
    #2 – Mohammed was a false prophet.
#3 – Jesus Christ is the son of God and no one gets to the Father except through the Son.

  33. 33. nojizyatax

From where I stand in this world, Muhammad ibn Abdullah is far WORSE than a dog. He and Vlad the Impaler would get along just fine.

  34. Follow all imposed religious belief systems to the letter. It’s a tip we can all live with.

I remember when the whole Danish cartoon thing was going down a few years ago, and I saw it as a ludicrous issue. Freedom of speech allows me to say just about anything, even to yell, “theater” in a crowded firehouse if I so desire. Anyway, back then, I even wrote a few mocking missives about Muhammad and his followers. Maybe even posted a cartoon or two that drew the ire of some ardent religious followers of the guy. But, I thought, heck, it’s a free country.

Looking back on the whole brouhaha, though, gives me some perspective. Now I think Bill O’Reilly is correct when he feels we should bow to the tenets of the Muslim faith. Consequently, I no longer create cartoons that show Muhammad getting his head chopped off by a fellow Muslim who attacked him due to a case of mistaken identity. Trouble was, since the poor fellow never saw a picture of Muhammad, he mistook him for an infidel and went and, clean as a whistle, lopped off his bean. Truth be known, I now see the controversy in a whole new light. And possess a much deeper understanding of the need not only to respect the religious beliefs of others, but to follow them to the letter.

Fact is, I now live my life making a real attempt never to offend anyone, using my first amendment rights only when everyone seems to be in agreement. Furthermore, I chastised South Park for showing a likeness of Muhammad. And for publishing Muhammad’s home address. Not to mention for mocking the Islamic faith. My politeness even extends to non-religious areas of my life. For example, even when my order from the dollar menu at McDonald’s gets screwed up, and I end up with a diet coke when I ordered iced tea, I drink the tea. Eat my side salad. Smile politely, “Pleasantville” style. And go on my way.

Really, I just have (or is it have just?) one request. No, wrong word. A demand. One might call it tit for tat. Being a devout Catholic, I believe in going to mass every Sunday, and to confession once a month like clockwork. And since I live in a Chicago high rise building where a Muslim just moved, who, of course, are not of my religious persuasion, I saw it as my duty to introduce myself, and let them know that I insist they follow my religious belief system. Mass every Sunday, religiously. Stations of the cross during Lent. You get the idea. While assuring them I would create no pictures of Muhammad, not even mental ones. At the same time, adding that if I saw another woman in a short skirt (I’ve thrown out all of mine), I would stone her as a punishment for her sins.

They thanked me for introducing myself, and bid me goodbye. In this new era of religious conformity, I felt we understood each other. Last Sunday, though, I didn’t see them at church, which is just up the block. So I knocked on their door again and asked if they had tended to my religious mandate by attending mass at a different church, or possibly went at a different hour than I, or perhaps, had to stay home because of illness, possibly suffering from what Dickens called it, “an overcooked potato.” To my horror, shock, surprise and dismay, they informed me that this is a free country; that I had no right to impose my religious views on them. They even had the nerve to quote me excerpts from the U.S. Constitution. Whatever.

I had no alternative. I killed them.

OKAY!!! the past is important because we want to remember so that we do not repeat…
BUT we had best live in the present and figure out what we going to do TODAY AND TOMORROW
    ..NOT YESTERDAY!!

I am a PhD in Arabic language. I went to the link you have given that claims Muslims believe in the killing of ‘wazagh’ and I do not see any connection with your statements about Mohammad and Muslims. It seems that you write what comes to mind and then specifically select Arabic links knowingly that your readers will not understand what the link is all about, thus they would need to trust in your stories. You are Shameless.

#37 – What are u talking about Mr. PhD? Mo’s hatred for lizards is well know. Just do a google search for words like “mohammad,” “lizards,” “wazagh” and you’ll get all sorts of links in English supporting Ibrahim’s position. Seems like you are the one who shamelessly lies…

If our western appeasers would read this article, confirm the authors credentials and the facts he puts forth and realize how they’re all (and they are legion) being had we might just begin to see the Islamic threat forced out from under it’s slimy rock of taqiyah, exposed for the insidious threat it is and pushed back to stagnate in the dunes of the Middle East as it struggles to keep Muslims around the world enslaved and impoverished by a 7th century ideology. It is not enough to hope that fundamental Islam will self destruct. It needs all freedom loving people around the world exposing it for the evil political institution it is. Kudos to Raymond Ibrahim.
