If the root of our problems is that obvious, why do we still allow politicians to run our society? You make an analogy with disease, but when it comes to disease we do everything we can to stamp it out. We do considerably less with our politicians. Why?

You are incorrect on all accounts except for ‘pompous.’ But as I said in my last post, according to your worldview if I don’t agree with you then I must agree with your ‘enemies’ (or as a great man once said, “If you’re not with us, you’re against us”). What else is there in the world except for democrats and republicans? Surely nothing.

How about “politicians?” Can we agree on that? “Politicians are responsible for the financial crisis?” Or is there no room for that in your doctrine?

You assume that because I don’t agree with you, I must agree with the democrats. This, too, speaks volumes about you. Over 300 million souls populate the United States and every last one of them believes fully in either Position A or Position B with no other alternatives, is that it? Certainly nobody could believe a little of one and a little of the other, and it’s unthinkable blasphemy to suggest a Position C, D or E.

A binary Manichean worldview turns people into slaves who fiercely defend their belief in slavery. I don’t mind if you call me a democrat to make yourself feel better because it has nothing to do with me. There is more in heaven and earth, to coin a phrase, than is dreamt of in your philosophy.

Tch, tch, Mack. Talking points and facts are two different things. Let’s try the opening sentence from an Associated Press article published just days ago. From “Mortgage Firm Arranged Stealth Campaign” by Pete Yost, Associated Press Writer on Mon Oct 20, 1:28 pm:

“Freddie Mac secretly paid a Republican consulting firm $2 million to kill legislation that would have regulated and trimmed the mortgage finance giant and its sister company, Fannie Mae, three years before the government took control to prevent their collapse.”

Clear evidence that the Democrats are responsible, I’m sure you’ll agree.
