Newt Gingrich, the smartest Republican around, followed Governor Bobby Jindal on FACE THE NATION, this past Sunday, and suggested he would be the best choice for Vice President. Newt expects that Jindal will be President some day and so do I. Jindal is highly intelligent (a Rhodes scholar) and though young already has executive and administrative experience, much more so than Arab-American Obama.

I think he would energize many Republicans and Independents. He’s obviously the best thing that’s happened to Louisiana in terms of governance since Jefferson (without first notifying the Congress) bought it for 10 cents an acre.

If McCain really wants to win, and put some energy into the campaign, he will pick Sarah Palin from Alaska. She is a STRONG conservative, and she will win over a HUGE block of the women vote (i.e. Hillary supporters). She is hands down the candidate
that will put McCain in the White House!

  3. 3. TomJW

With McCain winning the Repub nomination, didn’t Pajamas Media only need the Dem list?

  4. 4. Ann

Isn’t Jindal a HIndu?; if so, do we really want another Eastern Religion influence in our American Political System?. I think this is dangerous no matter how conservative Jindal says he is. I will not vote for McCain is he selects him. Shame on Newt for his silly commercial with Pelosi’s marxist global warming KoolAid garbage..garbage…..everywhere

  5. 5. betheweb

Your ballot shows Sarah Palin as governor of Arkansas (AR) vice Alaska (AL). You might want to change that. Not that Razorbacks wouldn’t mind having her.

  6. Ann:
Jindal converted to Roman Catholicism as a teenager. Remember: a little research goes a long way.

BTW, PJM: Shouldn’t Romney be among the Republican choices? I think that’s one reason “Other” is making a strong showing.

  7. 7. BrooklynCouch

What’s up with Mitt Romney not being on the R list (or did I not have any coffee yet?)

  8. 8. BrooklynCouch

    Yes, not there–BIZARRE!

  9. 9. Jbl

Oh, for crying out loud, Newt? That’s how you get me to not vote R.

I say Palin for veep. Jindal is great but LA needs him.

    Palin for Veep!

If he picks Nanny Bloomberg, Hucksterbee, or the opportunist, Graham, I will have to do the unthinkable, vote for Ob…..er, Nader.

  11. 11. Editors

Mitt Romney’s disappearance was mysterious to us too, since he was on original list. Bad proofreading. It has been fixed.

  12. 12. tom s

Jindal and Palin although model republicans and of excellent character are both too unknown publicly and politically to be major forces in keeping Obama out of the white house. To defeat the Obamas I’m affraid it is going to take putting Mitt Romney on the ticket.

  13. 13. ed

Romney may be the strongest. There has to be someone with administrative experience on the ticket.

  14. 14. BrooklynCouch

But how do we reassign “other” to Romney?! Count all the votes! LOL

  15. 15. Dave II

I agree, Romney has the administrative experience…but also alot of baggage. Palin, on the other hand ALSO has administrative experience (more so than Jindal) but virtually NO BAGGAGE!

Sure, she is “relatively” unknown in the lower 48, but she would GET KNOWN very fast…and the more you know about her the more there is to like. I have nothing against Romney…but he would not bring the votes to the ticket like Palin would!

  16. 16. MinnConservative

Ugg. So many liberals on the Republican list. Unless McCain picks a real conservative like DeMint or Cox I might just have to vote Barr.

How did we get stuck with McCain?

  17. 17. Big City Boy

Vote for Barr? Oh, wow, hurray for dimwitted ideologues. The world would be so boring without them.

  18. 18. jeff

I’m guessing a lot of the “other” votes are for Romney (R, before they put him back on the list) and Gore (D).

  19. 19. BrooklynCouch

Sorry, but even for polls of this kind, this one is a sham: I’ve been able to vote multiple times using the same browser, and the same info. SHAM!

  20. 20. Roger L Simon

BrooklynCouch, you can vote as many times as you wish BUT – only the first vote is recorded for the contest. Good luck!

    [Dave II on Jun 17, 2008 - 11:54 am]“Romney has… alot of baggage”

    How so?

  22. 22. Ross Reeves

McCain needs a woman or a person of color. He needs to get someone from the Midwest or the South. Steele and Watts are a built-in charge of copycat. No gray hair. No “moderate” like him. No Washington types. Romney is too liberal and too opportunistic. (On Laura Ingraham’s show he was attacking tax increases under the mantra of the little guy — instead of attacking the redistributionist philosophy head on). A catholic will help in PA and Ohio. It’s gotta be Jindal.

Obama needs a woman on the ticket and someone with governing experience outside of DC. Gov. Napolitano is perfect.

“If he picks Nanny Bloomberg, Hucksterbee, or the opportunist, Graham, I will have to do the unthinkable, vote for Ob…..er, Nader.”

True. Huckabee is a liberal on foreign policy and trendy like BHO, Bloomberg is a left winger on all issues not economic. An opportunist too, and arrogant.

Jindal, Crist, Palin and Mitt are best choices.

I love Newt, sans his obsession with global warming. Most moderates who dont like him, know nothing about him. Most libs are insane so I dont count them.

  24. 24. James

I’m in the Palin camp too :) I’ve been on a kick for the ladies in office, I’m also a huge fan of Condi, but she’s not interested, and I was more for her with Mitt until he was out. Palin is a great force to balance out McCain. And considering we are one of the most naturally oil-rich nations on the planet(if the THE richest), someone from AK is definitely going to come in handy in the near future.

  25. 25. Dave II

Personally, I don’t think Romney is a “bad” choice…it just won’t excite the base, or help securing women’s votes like Sarah Palin would.

His “baggage”, if you will, is his liberal tendancies (do we REALLY need another McCain on the ticket?) and of course, his religion, though I have no problem with that.

No question, Romney would make a great President…and I was actually for him before McCain caught fire and won, but I just don’t see him adding much…though he would clean the clock of whoever he faced in the debates.

    “Romney… won’t excite the base”

If Romney does not make significant progress on Super Tuesday, he might decide not to make the investment required to go on.
The key to that decision, and a fundamental question of this campaign, is whether Romney’s advertising blitzes have any lasting positive effect, or whether they are like putting a lighter under a piece of damp wood. The wood will stay lit as long as you hold the flame beneath it, but it will never catch fire by itself. Romney might be like that with the voters. As long as he keeps the TV ads going, he can do well in the polls. But take the ads away, and he fails to catch fire.

Carlie Fiorino is the best choice for VP. She is intelligent, articulate, attractive and young. She will win women voters, including the “dis-enfranchised” Clinton supporters. I am an independent, but Fiorino on the ticket would get my vote.

  29. 29. Dave II

david- Seems to me you made my case about Romney. Thanks. If McCain does pick him, let’s hope they have a BIG FLAME to light that dead wood!

Maybe, just going up against Obama will be enough, but I certainly would not count on THAT…fighting Obama’s “fire” while trying to keep your flame from going out???

  30. 30. Sam Duncan

Sarah Palin for VP? YOu gotta be kidding me! I live in Alaska and she has things so turned upside down that any business person in this state who understands economics and diplomacy is in shock at what she has done up here. Her popularity lies with the folks who move here for the permanent fund check every year and now she is handing out $1200 checks to everyone. Socialistic. The only think she cares about is Sarah and her endless self promotion. The newspaper and main TV channel just cover up all her huge mistakes and only follow her to photos shoots…ribbon cuttings, Vogue magazine…it’s endless. Meanwhile our Mayor in Anchorage and the Superintendent of Schools cannot get an audience with her in her office. All she is is an ex-beauty queen who is way out of her league. Do your homework people…the emperor has no clothes….she just does not know it yet—we can see through her facade.
