Understanding Fort Hood: Nothing ‘Sudden’ About ‘Sudden Jihad Syndrome’

The horrible massacre should have come as a surprise to no one.

Khan is on the board of directors for the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). The ISNA is an outgrowth of the Muslim Brotherhood — the movement which spawned al-Qaeda — and was at one time supportive of Palestinian terrorist organizations. The ISNA claims that they no longer have any ties to these groups, but at best, the kind of Islam promoted by many of its members is that of Saudi-style Wahhabism or so-called “moderate” Salafism. In other words, the promotion of political Islam and of the implementation of Islamic law remains a goal for many in the ISNA.

On the ISNA’s action alert website posted right below two condemnations of Hasan, the group asks for provisions of the Patriot Act to be amended to make it more difficult to prosecute those sending “humanitarian aid” to terrorist groups. This is no surprise given that the ISNA was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation case — a case in which ISNA leaders were key in raising “humanitarian aid” from Muslims and then diverting that aid to the terrorists of Hamas.

Given the incompatibility of the goals of a religious state and that of American liberalism, one has to wonder just what the Hasan’s former imam means when he states that Hasan never gave any indication that he was an extremist.

Of course, many so-called “moderate” Salafis and Wahhabis now toe the official line of their Saudi Arabian financiers and decry terrorism in their pursuit of political Islam. (But of course they define acts of intentional violence against civilians in Israel as “not terror.”) Hasan’s noted Muslim piety and association with what most Americans would consider a radical philosophy might not be sufficient to raise alarms — all other things being equal.

However, several former colleagues now report that Hasan would occasionally voice odd and, in hindsight, alarming opinions. For instance, on Friday morning, NPR reported that at an academic conference Hasan deviated from his topic and:

instead of giving an academic paper he gave a lecture on the Koran. … [I]t seemed to be his own beliefs. … He talked about if you are a non-believer the Koran says you should have your head cut off.

Another colleague recalled that Hasan regularly called the War on Terror a “war against Islam.”

And retired Col. Terry Lee told Fox News that Hasan had once said that “maybe Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor.” Other statements made by Hasan made it clear to Lee that by “aggressors” Hasan meant the U.S. military and not the radical Islamists we were fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

While Major Malik Hasan may have displayed no overt disposition towards violence, he certainly did display a disposition towards a radical political philosophy at odds with core American values, a worldview shared by paranoid Muslims around the world, and support for terrorist tactics deemed outside the rules of civilized warfare. Add to all of this the reports that Hasan yelled “Allahu Akbar” during the rampage and it seems fairly clear that at least one underlying motivation was that of jihad.

Those desperately looking for some other explanation for Hasan’s behavior should be reminded that crazy and motivated-by-jihad ideology are not mutually exclusive categories.

Any number of adjectives can be used to accurately describe Thursday’s events (i.e., “horrifying,” “despicable,” “disgusting”), but “shocked” is not one of them. Given the number of terrorist plots uncovered just in the last few months and the number of attacks on soft targets by those with “sudden jihad syndrome” since 9/11, it was only a matter of time before someone was successful in wreaking the kind of casualties that all these jihadists sought. And, even more importantly, until we begin to recognize the underlying ideology of political Islam as one motivating factor for terrorism, then another attack like that which occurred on Fort Hood is virtually guaranteed.

USA stirred up the pot, killed a bunch of Muslims and now some of them are mad. It sounds like blowback on those who murdered the million+ Iraquis. Not my problem. It’s the soldiers job to take bullets for civilians, but in the USA they also feel the need to dispense death. So they get it back in turn. That’s their job. One shameful thing is that Blackwater contractors did much of the raping and murdering, but the Army and Marines are taking the blowback. That is unfortunate, but again it’s part of the job.

I keep reading hyperbole about terrorists in Iraq, but so far no names or dates. Bush loads a few boys on a truck and tortures them in gitmo. That’s because he’s a closet case with Nazi nostalgia. The only real terrorists I see are the repubs who destroyed the economic future of the US and christian cronies who cheer America toward civil war and state secession.

Good Article! Of Course the Muslims are as “Shocked! Shocked” as Capt. Renault was when he discovered gambling going on at Rick’s Bar in “Casablanca”. The real tragedy, of course is the loss of life of so many fine young people at the hands of an Islamic terrorist. But the longer lasting tragedy is the willingness of a formerly proud society to continuously turn around, bend over and proffer their backsides to those who wish to kill them. Then after the deed is done most likely give them a “shout out”. I don’t get it. Whatever happened to the survival instinct?

  3. There would have been grounds for shock had the murderer been an Episcopalian WASP from Connecticut, whose bookshelves were filled with tomes from Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter. But explosions of murderous violence by Muslims are becoming routine — so routine that we seem to have lost the will to do anything about them.

Sad to say, it’s just one more data point on Mankind’s bloodiest graph.

This is the unchangeable reality.… We will have terrorist attacks and threats of terrorists attacks and inconvenient and humiliating security measures and the disruption of ordinary activities FOREVER, as long as Muslims are in the West in any significant numbers.… The unchangeable fact is that wherever there is a sizable Muslim community there will be a very large number of terror supporters and therefore—inevitably—actual terrorists as well.

This is our future, FOREVER, unless we stop Muslim immigration and initiate a steady out-migration of Muslims from the West until their remaining numbers are a small fraction of what they are now and there are no true believers among the ones that remain. Travelers from Muslim countries must be tightly restricted as well. Muslims must be essentially locked up inside the Muslim lands, with only carefully screened individuals allowed into the non-Muslim world.

The enemy are among us, in America, in Britain, in the West, and will remain so until we remove them from the West and indeed from the entire non-Muslim world. As extreme as this sounds, it is a no-brainer. There is no other solution. All other responses to this problem add up to meaningless hand-wringing. The hand-wringing will go on FOREVER, along with the terrorist attacks and the threat of terrorist attacks, until we take the ONLY STEPS that can actually and permanently end the threat.

    4. vivo;
I think the truth has already emerged for those of us willing to see it. As an Army vet the answer to your first question: “Why was Malik Hasan allowed to stay in the Army with all the ideological baggage that he seemed to have?” is very disturbing to me. Political Correctness run amok, pure and simple. I’m sure there many more patriotic officers than otherwise, but as they say here in the Philippines the fish rots from the head down, and that starts with the CIC. Not just Obama but going back thru Bush and Clinton in order to become a Flag Grade Officer in the Pentagon hierarchy you have to tow the PC line. There may be some exceptions, but damn few. That filters down thru the chain of command sometimes with dire consequences as we have just seen. Very sad state of affairs.

  9. 9. Elliot

Explosions of murderous violence by Muslims has been routine for many decades. Nothing new and not shocking in the least. It is to be expected if the rest of the world doesn’t accept their perscription for life.

In a Fox News online article, I read “She [his aunt] said he had sought a discharge from the military for several years, and even offered to repay the cost of his medical training.” … “He was mortified by the idea of having to deploy,” Nader Hasan [his cousin] said. “He had people telling him on a daily basis the horrors they saw over there.”

I did not know that the US Military could force someone to stay and to deploy against their will. I think it is dangerous for any army to force someone to stay: these men are armed and will turn angrier every day.

I say this is part of the problem here — not the whole story, but an important part of it.

  12. 12. TennesseeVolunteer

There can be no question that a part of the strategy for Muslim attacks in the US is that they be done by individuals so they can be described as ‘deranged individuals’.

HASAN SAID: “war on terror was really a WAR on Islam”
Hasan had apparently attended a mosque led by an imam named Anwar Al-Awlaki, a Yemeni scholar whose political views Richard disagrees with. Awlaki is a controversial figure among Muslims, and has been accused by the Congressional Joint Inquiry on 9/11 of serving as a “spiritual advisor” to two of the September 11 hijackers.

HASAN WAS AN ANTI-SEMITE: the major’s views were definitely troubling. Richard described an incident where Hasan made some anti-Semitic comments about Jews as a nation being “cursed by God” in Islam. Richard responded that the Qur’an does not condemn any group of people collectively, and that no one is born “cursed” by their ancestry.

HASAN WAS AN ADVOCATE OF SUICIDE-BOMBINGS: Hasan attempted to rationalize suicide bombing in a conversation, Richard told him in no uncertain terms that suicide is forbidden in the Qur’an (4:29).

There are about 2000 muslims in the US Army. They all need to be BOOTED OUT NOW. Malik Hassan is nothing more than a scummy example of all thats wrong with Islam. The hatred of women, the hatred of freedom, the hatred PERIOD. Heads should roll in his chain of command, the warning signs were all there. His ahole cousin yesterday said “he didnt even enjoy going to the firing range”. Bull. This scum has to be pretty proficeint with handguns to fire 50 rounds in under one minute, considering the Browning 9mm has 14 rounds per clip, which means he had at least 4 clips he emptied. The other ones who need to be fried is the Pentagon itself. This pc bull is ridicoulous. After over 30 years of moslem terror, they STILL refuse to acknowledge the obvious. ISLAM IS THE PROBLEM.

  16. 16. Samizdat

As time passes and the evidence of violence against nonbelievers acccumulates I have a difficult time justifying tolerance for Islamic beliefs that lead to incidents of terrorism such as Fort Hood.

Lets face it, interpretation of the Quran by a signifigant minority of Muslims leads to incidents like this and dozens of other terrorist incidents world wide. Islam does not self police because the Quran teaches that infidels(non believers) have to be dealt with and subjugated. And you expect me to be tolerant again and again? In that case tolerance equals stupidity and lack of connection to reality.

The time has come for the Imams to stand up together and join the majority of muslims who do not advocate violence or act out violently. In the mean time, the FBI and the Justice Dept need to increase domestic survellience of the radically predisposed Islamic community and get alot more agresssive with these people. All the warning signs were there regarding the predisposition to violence in this piece of human debris known as Maj Hasan. MR Obama and Mr Holders first responsibility is to protect US citizens from enemies foriegn and domestic. They failed the other day, just as President Bush and Clinton did. Further failure is intolerable. Let’s cut the PC denial of reality and hunt dowm those who are bent on Jihad.

Congratulations to the quick reacting police officer who took this human garbage down. She completed the task while wounded herself. She deserves our highest comendation and praise. Here’s to her speedy and complete recovery.

In re “kochevnik” #1: It’s only been 48 hours since the Fort Hood tragedy but the trolls are already circling their wagons around the usual talking-points. “Bush is a Nazi”, “America deserves it”,”Muslim rage is justified”,”It’s our fault because of Gitmo”, etc. Behind this however I sense a small nugget of fear. What if the “troglodyte” conservatives have been right all along about the reality of world-wide jihad? What if there really is a world-wide threat to freedom and liberty posed by radical Islam? How long can the MSM keep the balls in the air and prevent the realization that the America Left has sold itself body-and-soul to this movement in an effort to gain power in the U.S.? These questions are going to start occurring to a lot of people very soon.

  19. 19. Brownie

Vivo, Malik Hasan was allowed to stay in the US Army because it has become as infected by PC as the rest of our society. The lesson after Fort Hood? Think long and hard about Muslims in the military and the truth is out there, all you have to do is to be willing to believe it.

    Kochevnik:

“USA stirred up the pot, killed a bunch of Muslims and now some of them are mad. It sounds like blowback on those who murdered the million+ Iraquis.”

You, sir, are a fool or a knave. The Muslims, or some Muslims, started this long, long before Iraq. BTW, “those who murdered” all those Iraqis (6, not 7, figures) were overwhelmingly their co-religionists of Al-Qaeda and affilitaed groups.

Vivo enters the sphere of rationality

Why was Malik Hasan allowed to stay in the Army with all the ideological baggage that he seemed to have?

    Political correctness in the army.

What’s the lesson after Fort Hood?

Political correctness is going to get us killed (or Islamicized).

    Will the truth ever emerge?

Ever is a long time. A few dozen more terrorist attacks may result in an Awakening among the custodians of political correctness: The Left (who unfortunately also control the media, academia and the culture industry.)

You have heard of The Left, haven’t you, Vivo. Vivo, Vivo ….

“Who would have guessed that a man armed only with handguns could kill and injure so many?”

That’s kind of a dumb question. Remember Virginia Tech?

  23. 23. Knotacommie

By the way, while I respect Daniel Pipes, this isnt a case of “sudden jihad syndrome”. The warning signs with scummy Hamass Hassan were there all along. The same thing applied to the murderer of that army recruiter in Little Rock this summer. I can also imagine the commies and islamic radicals(CAIR) are also celebrating Hassans attack at Ft Hood. I beleive we need to bring them to a central point(like FDR did with the Japanese in ww2) and deport every single one of them. There are no moslem patriots. The scummy moslem groups are now calling for calm. When HAVE THEY done anything to promote calm? Last I looked only MOSLEMS are flying airplanes into buildings and shooting folks in the back. I dont see any Jews or Christians doing anything remotely like that.

I used to wonder about world wide horror. Our whole generation has. We’ve mostly all been sure for most of our lives that the (to us) unimaginable horror of Hitler and his Axis could never happen again. We believed that the human race had progressed beyond the point of that sort of mass insanity.

But now we know. We know the awful truth. It is possible for an entire society and even several disparate societies to go into collective psychosis. The united states has mostly lost the capacity for rational awareness. And just like Hitler’s germany the lesser percentage of the population not mad or possessed by demons is largely sitting quietly by and allowing unspeakable horror to overtake them.

Even the military, that seemingly single last functional segment of the federales, can no longer tell its ass from its elbow. I look for everything to slide into oblivion rather quickly now.

  26. 26. Thomas_L.....

A veil of political correctness protects these lunatics. They don’t even have to skulk around. Here’s an outright outspoken Islamist and not only is he not court marshalled and cashiered from the army, he’s allowed to be armed with access to a military base? How many more like him out there? Have we gone throught the looking glass?

  27. 27. myth buster

Sentence this man to a two-woman firing squad. Make sure both a expert marksman. Have them each shoot one of his kidneys to flood his bloodstream with poison and let him bleed. It’s insanely painful, and if he doesn’t die of shock, he’ll bleed to death within a few minutes. Alternatively, blow his brains out and then extract his organs for involuntary donation.

Yeah, and all Southern/Southwestern good ol’ boys are inherently bigoted, hot tempered rednecks who carry guns in their pickup trucks/SUV’s, and use them regularly to shoot up street signs and the sides of businesses they don’t like, as well as for threatening any driver who cuts them off. They also regularly attack gays, beat their wives and sons, screw their daughters, and drink a lot of Coors, so one should always be careful when traveling in their areas. And you should never ever consider hiring one for anything important or involving heavy machinery, sharp objects, fire, explosives, and/or guns.

Friggin maroons — go Google for the worst individual mass murderers & serial killers in history and see how many are Muslim.

  30. 30. Creditman

The “shock” of it, is all the MSM can write about. They devalue religion and thus cannot believe that someone’s belief would lead them to kill people. Yep, sounds like another “Christain” kind of thing.

  31. 31. JAH666

Islam in any form, and any human that is an adherent to Islam in any form CANNOT be trusted! In islam it is a sin to lie, but only to another moslem. It is a sin to kill, but only if you kill a moslem. The adherents of islam will work among a group of non-moslems for years, smile and seem friendly, but you CANNOT trust them! They will turn on you when the “trigger is pulled” by their teachings and do whatever islam tells them to do to an infidel. The evidence mounts…

  32. 32. clear mind

It’s disconcerting that media wraps Hasan in the cloak of a devout Muslim. Family members tell he can’t speak Arabic nor read the Arabic Koran. Others comment that he only recently started to wear Muslim dress instead of “western” clothing. These is nothing more dangerous in society than those who have these who cleverly hide their resentments, and Hasan appears to be one of those. Hasan appeared to be hiding in a shell, and then the shell cracked. How many other shells are cracking?

  33. 33. eburchelli

Political correstness is why he was allowed to remain in his position after all those beliefs of anti-Americanism he held. And PC will be why the MSM and liberals in general will give this guy and others like him a pass.

Those convinced that PTSD as a legitimate excuse/reason in this case is incomprehensible. The cavalier attitude that Obama gave to this tragedy portends a bleak future for America.

  34. 34. ETAB

Ideed it’s quite accurate to say that no-one should be shocked by this expression of Islamic fascism. After all, open and public hatred of the West and its attributes of freedom and democracy are preached in Islamist mosques around the world.

The problem is, that Islam is only superficially a religion and most of its axioms in this area are taken from the Judaic ideas of that 7th c era. Above all, it is a social, economic and political ideology, suited only to a tribal people intent on preserving their tribal isolation and power.

It has never, unlike the other monotheistic religions and sociopolitical ideologies, gone through a reform process. It is completely dysfunctional in modern, industrial economy. Why?

Because it essentially rejects freedom of thought; it rejects reason, science, progress. It rejects individualism, dissent, questions. As such, it operates within a no-change, steady-state tribalism, where authority is vested in a hereditary tribal elite and where lifestyles must be inflexible and bonded to the past.

Importantly, such a tribal mode has no room in it for a middle class, a civic political mode, the domain of flexible, questioning and innovative people. We can see this ‘frozen-in-time’ mentality in the fact that no science, no technological developments, no medical discoveries..nothing intellectual, has come out of the Islamic realm.

When such a frozen-in-time peoples met up at the turn of the last century with the modern world, rather tha reform and enable the development of a vibrant and free middle class, the Islamic world retained tribalism, enriched the tribal elite..and left the rest of the exponentially increasing population as dependents of the state.Result?

Islamic fascism is the result, a movement to prevent reform by attacking the West and the modern civic state. Internally, they became even more repressive, to prevent their population demanding, as they are now doing in Iran, democratic freedoms.

Bush was right to enable democracy in Iraq; it’s the lynch pin to enable these people to move out of the 7th century into the modern world.

But, such massive tectonic changes aren’t easy, and the fact that only a few Islamic scholars are promoting reform, while the public only hears about the rants of the empowered Islamic elite who want to retain power..this makes it very difficult.

So, someone like Hasan, is hardly alone in believing what the imams and the unreformed Qu’ran preach – hatred of the West and an admonition to kill all infidels. Until the Islamic world reforms itself, we’ll see more of these psychopathic massacres.

    AMERICA’S CANCER: IMMIGRATION.

For millenia, this country never had to worry about aliens and their alien ideas of jihad, etc. All this insanity started when our corrupt evil criminal govt., intoxicated by bribes, broke open our borders and aided and abetted the alien invasion on our nation. This inhumane and barbaric act of allow aliens in has made our country the toilet bowl of the world that lets in all kinds of con-men, criminals, terrorists, barbarians and thugs from all over the third world.

It was our own govt. that gave visas to the 9/11 hijackers and Hasan’s parents. It was our government that has allowed millions of fanatics to pour in and set up terror networks. Greedy corporations import cheap foreigners on bogus work visas by lying on H1/Labor Cert. applications while Americans stand in the unemployment line. Even third world politicians have better morals–they do not let foreigners pour in like our most crooked politicians do. Thanks to this third world war aided and abetted by crooked politicians, the US is now the third most populous nation on earth.

As foreigners pour in, there is more congestion and urban sprawl, shortages of
land, water and food, more pollution, more cultural clashes and more crime. Jobs are
becoming scarce and wages are falling due to a larger labor pool while home and other
prices keep rising due to many more consumers. Oil reserves are becoming depleted and gas and heating oil prices are going through the roof. America is becoming a third-world country, where people will have to stand in line for hours for water and many will urinate and defecate on the roads and in stairwells due to lack of toilet facilities. Starvation and hunger, diseases and depravation will run rampant. Immigrants are bringing plague, AIDS, West Nile, SARS/Swine Flu, dengue fever and TB which kill thousands every year. Violence and corruption are spreading like wild fire.

Hospitals are overflowing with aliens who have not seen a doctor in ages but who
come here with many diseases and demand, and get, free treatment at the taxpayer’s
expense, thanks to crooked clauses in laws like EMTALA which force hospitals to
provide free care to aliens. This is bankrupting some hospitals and even Medicare and Medicaid, while millions of Americans remain uninsured, and unable to afford basic
healthcare. Foreigners are getting jobs under affirmative action and then stealing secrets for their foreign govts. Uncle S(c)am has become a brown-nose of the world, but a
    mother-beater at home.

Our evil government and the corrupt media are in the pockets of the greedy
corporations that want cheap drudge and are basically “trafficking in humans”. Foreign
lobbyists financed sometimes by foreign drug cartels and crime gangs pay-off our govt.
kickbacks disguised as campaign contributions to buy them off to pass laws for easy
immigration, to allow more foreigers to pour in here so the foreign countries can get rid
of their problems and dump them on us. Our politicians are so greedy, evil and corrupt
they will sell their own mother, so they have no qualms about selling their own
motherland. 3 Million people invade this country every year–more than the REST of the
world combined. This massive immigration is turning our nation into a third world
    country like Mozambique.

We can stop this cancer of immigration. It is time to join groups such as Numbers USA
(http://www.numbersusa.com), or FAIR (http://www.fairus.org), the Minutemen, etc. and take a stand against the greatest evil ever heaped on our nation. It is also time to amend the constitution to allow national referenda, so the people can pass good laws themselves, since our corrupt evil government won’t. For eg.

    http://ni4d.us/index.htm
    http://www.iandrinstitute.org/National%20I&R.htm

The most important law to pass is to ban immigration, and the easy visas that let
the world’s garbage in. This country need not be a toilet bowl of the world anymore.

This coverage is another nail in the MSM’s coffin.

This guy’s motive is staring us in the face…and newscasters can’t talk about it? Why? It’s not PC? Thirteen people are dead today and more than a score injured because the US Army, the FBI, and probably other government agencies couldn’t risk the bad publicity on the lamestream media.

That’s a hell’va price to pay. If I were a surviving family member I’d want some answers.

Glen Beck needs to be back on TV

Then this shooting and Hasan would not be treated so lightly.

We need to know more about Hasan, his family and his associates.

It is the Army’s fault entirely, they let this man stay in the service, when they knew what he was up to.

Now lets all give a big ole “SHOUT OUT!” to Obama,

kochevnik: Every sentence you typed contained at least one lie. Do you sincerely believe yourself, or are you just a troll? You are not worthy of the sacrifice of any US servicemember.

I sit here on my second tour in Iraq since the ‘surge’ (I’m in a support role, not field duty. I’ll claim no false honors). In both Iraq and Afghanistan, the military’s role has shifted from combat to security support for indigenous forces. We simply aren’t engaged in actively pursuing insurgents (though we still get bombed, mortared, and sniped).

So, why would a well educated, seemingly knowledgeable Army officer choose *now* to carry out this massacre? It’s because the religion of peace, including mainstream Islam, provides cover and encouragement for homicidal freaks like this to take others with them when they decide to die. Everyone with one of those “Coexist” bumper stickers needs to realize that Islam has no desire to live and let live. You exist in a dream world and are viewed as a “Useful Idiot” by those who’s end game is world-wide submission to Islam and the prophet, curses to his name.

Let’s see, Maj. Hasan obtained a free medical education at the expense of the taxpayers by enlisting in the military under dubious pretenses. In an interview with CNN correspondent, his cousin stated Hasan wanted to start his own practice and a family. He got what he wanted and tried to renege on his responsiblity to serve his duty. All this, “I was being harrassed, my bumper-sticker was removed, I’m conflicted” is a ploy to justify his cowardice. We are talking about the military here, not some 10-year olds on the playground.
In his scheming of things, he probably didn’t count on getting shot four times. I have always been concerned about “sleeper cells” in this country. How many do you think are in the military?

I agree with the posts stating the ACLU will jump in there to protect his rights. I say it’s about time to kick the ACLU to the curb and if that’s not enough, then kick them to CHINA. I am also sickened by MSNBC and CNN for trying to cast these poor soldiers as villians and and playing the PC game. I often wonder at what price did these people sell their souls to the devil.

    4. vivo: “Why was Malik Hasan allowed to stay in the Army with all the ideological baggage that he seemed to have?”

This is a key question. I think at least a partial answer may be that the Army, like other bureaucracies, including the FBI and CIA, are slogging and inefficient — nothing like the well-oiled machines full of super-sleuths and super-heroes that Hollywood depicts. Just recall the chaos and bumbling that prevailed DURING the 9/11 attacks, when the chain of command seems to have broken down, when the Air Force scrambled fighters in the wrong direction, etc., etc. It’s comfortable to live with the delusion of safety, but I think that, more realistically, we just have to hope that the enemy’s bungling is even worse than our own.

    39@Chief Mack:

Exactly what ‘service’ did you ever provide me? All you did was anger people overseas and bankrupt this economy. You are a waste of tax dollars and a christian fascist, no different that those you have murdered in the past. Save that you are in a free country to spout off your racist and ethnic hate. I have no argument with Islam and it has none with me. You however are a blight on this nation. If you love overseas romps so much, go there and never come back. You are a homicidal freak yourself, but unlike your opponents a hypocrite besides.

Under Bush you would happily construct FEMA camps to contain dissident Americans who questioned your fascism. Practice your goosestepping and perhaps Sarah will become your commander in chief. Then you can rape, kill and torture some more and wonder why it blows back in your face.

Religious people always have killed each-other. Perhaps that’s all you’ll amount to. Get it over with. Progressive people have other things to do.

  47. 47. Joe

Someone dropped the ball bigtime to let this guy stay in the military and indeed, stay out of prison. Every single person connected with that mosque where he worshipped should be investigated. This pc and multicultural idiocy has got to stop! And it is going to be up to American citizens to keep up the pressure. This bunch presently in the White House cannot be trusted to keep us safe, but we can keep the phones and emails busy until 2012.

  48. 48. Delia

There are far too many dangerous possibilities for internal/external conflicts regarding our country going to war with people who are of Islamist beliefs/laws, while at the same time allowing people of Islamist beliefs to join our military.

If we haven’t learned anything from the siege of Islamic terrorism we’ve been afflicted with, then we are doomed to have more of the same repeat again and again until it is pounded into our skulls that Islam is NOT a religion of ‘PEACE’.

Islam/Sharia is the tyrannical enemy of FREEDOM and the more we allow the enemy within our own country the worse off we will be for it.

  49. 49. DavidN

Kochevnik is a real character, isn’t he? All of the things we’ve done wrong in the Middle East (and presumably the rest of the world) are coming back to haunt us. We supported the Afghan rebels against the Soviets…I suppose Kochevnik thinks they resent us now because they could have had a socialist paradise. We give lots of foreign aid…he thinks we’ve meddled in their affairs. He also states that he has no quarrel with Islam, and they have no quarrel with him. I’m not sure how he knows the latter statement to be true, but someone should educate him: in Islam, there’s no inherent negative connotations attached to the act of putting a pistol to someone’s head and forcibly converting them. Since the goal of Islam (like Christianity) is to convert everyone in the world, if you can’t succeed with evangelism, then a gun will do. Christians haven’t done this (at least in the West) for centuries; Muslims still do it, and aspire to do it throughout the world.

  50. 50. moho

“Shock” and “horror” are the words being used to describe the massacre at Fort Hood by Major Nidal Malik Hasan. But while the events were “horrible,” they should have come as a “shock” to no one — at least if by “shock” they mean “surprised that Hasan would turn so violent.”

You’re partially right, but only by coincidence. There’s nothing shocking about what happened. The US is the mass murder rampage capital of the world. The very next day someone else went insane and killed everyone at their workplace. Or how about this:

Soldiers returning from Iraq have been charged in at least 11 murders at America’s third-largest Army base…Fort Carson

    http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/30794989/the_fort_carson_murder_spree/2

There is no shortage of murder in the US, and no culture beats out ours for murder rampage. That has become literally the mascot of the modern American era. You don’t care about it until you can use it to make a case for bigotry. You are everything the founders feared when they wrote the constitution.

If the invasion of Iraq had never happened; if Israel were to disapper tomorrow and Kashmir be ceded to Pakistan and if all non-Islamic troops were to be withdrawn from every Islamic nation by the end of next week Islam would still be at war with the rest of the world. They have to be. It is a commandment from allah. Jihad is one of the five pillars of the Islamic faith and no Moslem can claim to be a real Moslem if he/she does not engage in jihad. Mohamed made it plain what jihad is and how it is to be carried out and it ain’t no “inward struggle”. It is war in all its forms against any who refuse to convert to Islam.

The Islamic world has been unrelenting in its war with the rest of us. The only time hostilities cease is when the Islamic powers are defeated or faced with overwhelming military superiority. And even then the war of subversion and terror is carried on. This is what we face today but sooner or later one or more of the Islamic powers will come to believe they have the means to meet us more openly. That is when a city or two or more will go up in a ball of fire. That is when anthrax or plague or some other virulent killer disease will suddenly become epidemic in the “house of war”. That is when saran or some other gas will be released in subways and ventilation systems in the lands of the infidel. But these things will be the handiwork of “extremists” and the lords who recruit, fund, train and supply them will deny any responsibility. Or maybe the lords will unleash the terror groups across the world and threaten nuclear retaliation if the infidels dare take “disproporionate” measures.

  54. 54. BettyBlue

Oh, yeah, kochevnik, “Progressive” people have better things to do—such as sitting around bad-mouthing the very soldiers who protect them. You might not have a quarrel with Islam, but it definitely has a quarrel with you!

If you were ever to find yourself attacked by a jihadi, you’d scream your witless head off for an American soldier to come save you—you know, those you disparage as a “waste of tax dollars”, tax dollars, I assume, you feel would be better spent on yourelf and your progressives, who are, of course, doing such swell things for humanity.

You’re a pathetic, useless disgrace. And a troll.

  55. 55. BettyBlue

Despite the bleats of “Comrade K.”, a.k.a. Kochevnik, and Moho, who cannot stand a discouraging word about Islam, jihad now is a problem, here in the US—remember the terror plots uncovered just this last September?

And it’s only going to get worse.

  56. 56. ETAB

David N – I think that kochevink is a deeply angry individual, with his own personal problems, that he’s offloading onto others, in particular, the US and the West.

He obviously knows nothing, and I mean nothing, about Islam. Neither its ideology, nor its history, not the Qu’ran nor the Hadiths. He knows nohing of its rejection of freedom – and he’s someone who on other threads rants on and on about such things as a ‘woman’s choice(to abort); same-sex marriage…heh..both of which would see you stoned to death in Sharia law.

He knows nothing about Islamic rejection of reason, rejection of science, rejection of the right to question and dissent.

He knows nothing about the economic and political history of the Middle East, not only from the 7th c but in the 14th through 19th c which saw a murderous imperialist Islamic agenda. And certainly he knows nothing about the 19th and the 20th c, which saw the emergence and rise of Islamic fascism, as a repressive militant rejection of a civic democracy and industrial economy.

Islam, as I’ve said, is a political and societal ideology based around a 7th c tribal infrastructure. It is disastrous in a modern economy because it represses and disallows a middle class. It keeps everyone as ignorant peasants.

And people should read the Hadiths, the 9thc and later rules, which denigrate women, and any who are not Muslim.

Islam has to reform; as it is now, it offers a mindset suitable only to a militant tribalism that rejects all Others, that rejects reason and questions, that rejects progress, and thus, disables its followers from living in a 21st century.

It requires reform; there ARE Islamic scholars who are trying to reform the Hadiths and even Qu’ranic interpretations, but they remain in the academic realm. That’s because the Middle East dictators don’t want to lose their tribal power to a civic middle class. And the local imams don’t want to lose their power to a thinking, analytic people.

The West should be demanding reform, insisting that, if they want to participate in the global economy, then they have to preach collaboration rather than imperialism and hatred of Others.

  57. 57. BettyBlue

Kochevnik sounds like someone who’se deeply in love with the Communist/Marxist dream. (Memo to Comrade K.: Rootin’-Tootin’-Vladimer Putin called, he’s got some more dizinformatzion for ya!)

Yeah, he’s probably disturbed, and unloading his anger onto others—but, really, most “progressives” are like that, in my experience. Hence, their rantings, and supposedly deep political theories, are garbage.

  58. 58. moho

The point-Islam has ALWAYS been VIOLENT. Including you stupid communist excuse makers. The mooselimbs dont like you fools EITHER. As a matter of fact, most of what they WHINE about is the things the leftists champion-homsexuality,porn,alcohol, etc. Someday, Islam is going to do something so terrible the West will be forced to retaliate. When we get the WILLPOWER to strike back, ISLAM WILL BE FINISHED. ISLAM IS TOO IGNORANT TO DEFEAT A COMMITTED WEST.

  62. 62. Marc Malone

#11 Manny – We have an all-volunteer force, but once you’ve volunteered, sometimes you are called upon to “earn your pay. You don’t get to back out come the moment of truth. else the system would break down. In a time of war, soldiers are in for the duration. They don’t get to opt out.

Furthermore, the military will pay for your education completely, if you sign up for 6 years. They pay a lot of money to train their officers. They expect a return on their investment. Seriously, would you have it any other way? (There are circumstances when you can get out, but they are extreme.)

  63. “So what’s the US’s excuse?”

For 1300 years Islam has been at war with the West. Mohammed began by slaughtering his neighbors until they submitted or died. We–some of us–will not submit, our “excuse” is that we will win, and want to.

“Why are we constantly at war?”

Sometimes we’ve been in the wrong, sometimes not…there will never be a time when all others are so in tune with our desires that it will for long be that no one decides to see if they can get away with opposing our wishes by force. In the case of the Islamists, without any remotely sufficient justification whatsoever.

  64. 64. Marc Malone

#29 BC – This is just more moral equivalence from the Left. Some wackos do go off the deep end, but it is not because their belief system advocates it. Islam requires its adherents to wage jihad (righteous/holy war). I say again, It REQUIRES jihad.

Kochevnik – Yes, you are a “progressive”. Just another America-hater making excuses for our enemies.

  65. 65. moho

Sometimes we’ve been in the wrong, sometimes not…there will never be a time when all others are so in tune with our desires that it will for long be that no one decides to see if they can get away with opposing our wishes by force.

So you’re saying that we go to war when people prevent us from doing what we want to do, whatever that may be? Well, that sounds like the same kind of mindset that you’re attributing to Islam. I do know that an Islamic state has never been responsible for as much death and destruction as the US has in its wars.

Since WWII the longest period that we have not invaded another country has been 7 years, between Vietnam and Grenada. No Islamic country comes close to this record, nor any other country for that matter.

  66. “So you’re saying that we go to war when people prevent us from doing what we want to do, whatever that may be?”

Not hardly, there is nuance here you will refuse to recognize because it does not suit your purposes, or maybe you are really not bright enough to see it. It does not matter how right or wrong we are, there will be people who will try to use force against us if we do not submit to their wishes. That’s true whether we are wrong or right. We will not submit in many cases, therefore there will be war in our future.

“No Islamic country comes close to this record, nor any other country for that matter.”

No Islamic nation has our record of genuinely respecting human rights and trying to expand the realm of the world which respects them, either.

What will you admit that shows?

  67. 67. ETAB

moho, as I’m sure you know, war is not a personal psychological ‘hissy fit’ and is not declared, either formally as a war or as an authorization to use military force, by sole fiat of a national leader – in a democracy.

Islam is a sociopolitical ideology and one of its basic axioms is to conquer and control all non-Islam people. This is not a national agenda but an ideological agenda, therefore, you can’t compare an Islamic country to the US.

The greatest number of deaths caused by any ‘group’ or ideology is by communism, followed by Islam. Islam began its militant agenda with Mohammed

    http://www.americanthinker.com/2005/11/the_truth_about_islamic_crusad.html

If you want to see an ideology that has never been ‘not at war’, then, check out Islam.

    ETAB -

“He obviously knows nothing, and I mean nothing, about Islam. … “,/i>

Actually, I think both he and moho know all there is to know about Islam and are themselves dedicated to the spread of it in the West. Moho, at least, is patting himself on the head every day for waging jihad even though he hasn’t yet resorted to the violence Allugh demands of him. Every day when he faces east and prays to the moon god Allugh he asks for the strength to keep on lying to the infidels without losing control and saying what he really believes.

Only those who have deep dedication to Islam can play the self-contradictory games these two do, and only those dedicated to Islam could accept mass murder and terrorism as justifiable whenever a Muslim feels slighted. Only Muslims themselves are so brainwashed that they can’t see that it is Islam that has held back Islamic nations, not some other religion or some great world system. In fact, no one with a third grade education and a normal IQ would claim that the military actions and even the military misadventures of the US have anything at all in common with the historical centuries of Islamic mass murders, conquests, and mandatory racism unless they were a brainwashed Muslim themselves.

No, they know all about Islam and their goal here is to divert each and every issue CAIR says they should be involved in away from the facts and on to CAIR approved diversionary arguments.

Bush and his wife visited the Fort Hood base today, and the wounded in hospital. No photo-ops.

Remember Obama’s disgraceful appearance at a fallen soldier’s homecoming, for a photo-op? That was meant to silence criticism about his indifference to the Afghan war. By the way, has he done anything about helping the military by granting their request for more troops? Nothing? Hmmm.

    What did Obama do today?

11:25AM THE PRESIDENT addresses the House Democratic Caucus – Cannon House Office Building

2:30PM THE PRESIDENT makes a statement to the press on Health Care – Rose Garden

2:45PM THE PRESIDENT and THE FIRST LADY depart The White House en route Camp David – South Lawn

And Bush visited the wounded at Fort Hood. No publicity, no photos. As the real CIC.

    Tom Perkins

I hope that you get a dictionary soon and look up the definition of nuance. Nuance can only be present as a product of meaning. This is what the poster I was commenting on said:

see if they can get away with opposing our wishes by force.

there will be people who will try to use force against us if we do not submit to their wishes.

These are opposite sentiments, not nuance. In the first, it is people opposing our wishes by force. The only nuance contained in that statement is that people don’t want us to do what we want to do and sometimes they use force to stop us. In the second its we who resist the wishes of others. You probably don’t understand the difference, indeed, its exactly what I’m talking about. Whatever we want is right, whoever opposes us is attacking us. Stupid, but it has worked on you people for generations.

  72. 72. Bill

Anyone who will kill himself (and murder others) because 72 virgins are waiting for him, is not only a child-molesting pervert, but damn stupid. An Islamic takeover of the US can only succeed if the attempted brainwashing sticks, and it won’t. Not enough stupid people here.

moho – are you aware of the irrationality of your assumption that a request by an authoritative figure can readily be refused by a person without that high rank? Don’t you know anything about the Misuse of Authority?

To have the president of the USA justify his photo-op by saying that ‘the family agreed’ is actually to justify a blatant abuse of power on Obama’s part.

Don’t you get it? IF Obama wanted to show respect for the soldiers, THEN, he ought to have shown up without the photo-op.That’s all.

But he didn’t do that single action, as Bush used to do, of showing up. Instead, Obama deliberately wanted it to be a photo-op. Of Himself. Got that? Of Himself. It wasn’t about the soldier. It was All About Obama.

  75. 75. moho

Bill, not to give any legitimacy to your rant, since I can hardly make sense of it, but are you saying that having sex with a virgin is child molestation? Because there’s a lot of observant Christians out there who’d probably disagree.

So..after the umpteenth time that “racicals” have “hijacked” Islam..isnt it time to ask just what is it about Islam that makes it so hijackable?
Is it the hundreds of passages commending blood revenge, martyrdom and death in battle? Is it how spiritual ardor and physical violence mesh so seamlessly in Islam? How about that the humor and irony of the Bible being wholly missing from the Koran? Is it just possible that “radicals” are the TRUE MUSLIMS….the ones that took their religion seriously? Is it possible that every muslim is a walking time bomb waiting to be switched on?

And you, moho, have no proof that it didn’t happen.

What we know as fact is that rather than going to pay his respects – and that’s all, pay his respects, Obama asked for an unusual action in these ceremonies. He asked that he be allowed to have a picture taken of him.

A picture of him. Him. Obama. Why?
It was a disgraceful action by Obama.

I’d explain to you that when you make an accusation, its your responsiblity to prove it, not the other way around. But I doubt you’re capable of actually understanding that.

What we know, as fact, is that such photos are not the norm.

Yes, the aren’t the norm. For 18 years, since the first Gulf War, the miltiary had a policy in place to prevent photographers from taking pictures of returning dead. They did this because it was an exeptionally crushing blow to the military in Vietnam, and gets in the way of pretending that our wars are happy events where no one gets hurt. Obama rescinded that policy in the Spring.

Again, you’ve besmirched the name of the family of the deceased, implying that they colluded with Obama for a photo op. That’s your assertion, not mine. You’ve provided no evidence, no fact. All that’s left is belief. And when I say “your movement” its in jest, because you idiots couldn’t put together a movement to take out the trash.

You’ve been told this before, at least on one occasion by me. I dislike having to repeat myself, so pay attention this time.

Trolls like “moho” are here to deflect, irritate, and weary you. They never have substantive arguments to offer; that would imply that they’re open to a substantive argument in response. They’re here for one reason: to destroy our possibilities for constructive conversation. And when you elect to fence with them, you do two things:

1: You give them exactly what they want.
2: You prove that they’re smarter than you are.

Is that what you want? Or are you indulging your petty need to win an argument with someone who isn’t even listening and couldn’t be persuaded by God Himself?

If your idea of enjoyment is trading slanders with leftist trolls, go do it at Daily Kos or Huffington Post. You’ll immediately learn how little patience those sites have for such things – and might learn in the process how futile it is to do it here, to the detriment of the people you could usefully exchange ideas with.

No, moho, you are contradicting yourself.

You are the one who must provide proof that the family felt that they could refuse a request by a President of the USA for a photo-op. You cannot assume without proof that they did not feel obliged, by his rank, to agree.

What an ignorant remark. Could you provide some factual evidence that the US ‘pretends that our wars are happy events where no-one gets hurt’. Evidence, please.

I most certainly did not imply that the family colluded with Obama. Kindly use factual evidence and logic in your posts. A family, agreeing to a request for a photo-op by the POTUS, cannot by any stretch be defined as an act of collusion. Do you know what the word means?

Again, Obama asked for a photo-op. Of Himself. Himself. Himself. Disgraceful.

Here’s what Obama did, with regard to photo-ops with Him and the military, during his presidential campaign. From Hot Air Blog July 25, 2008.

“NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski and Courtney Kube get the skinny on the abrupt cancellation of Barack Obama’s visit to Landstuhl and Ramstein yesterday. … When Obama found out he couldn’t use the visit as a photo op, he canceled:

“This makes the decision track very clear. Obama and his team set up the visits to military installations before going overseas. After seeing how the media got excluded in Iraq and Afghanistan, they decided it wasn’t worth traveling to Ramstein and Landstuhl to visit the severely wounded troops because they couldn’t bring the campaign and get the photo ops they wanted. Instead, Obama went shopping in Berlin.
As I wrote yesterday, that’s certainly a revealing set of priorities for a man who wants to lead these troops as Commander in Chief.”

If people want to understand the cost of war in human life, they can go to Arlington, or Normandy and elsewhere. But families have a right to privacy at such a personal moment, without flashing lights and indifferent paparazzi reporters and photographers.

How long will it take and how many lives lost for the US Military to put an end to “diversity” requirements and political correctness? The USA has no chance with a military hamstrung by its politically correct “leadership” directly responsible for the FT Hood massacres of U.S. military men and women. The enemy has penetrated and infiltrated the Pentagon, the CIA, the upper uschelon of the US military both within the USA and overseas…as long as political correctness trumps U.S. Military discipline and requirement, what occurred at Fort Hood, Texas on domestic soil and in Afghanistan (i.e. the brutual shooting murder of British troops by “Afghani troops’ being trained by the British)is only the beginning.

Out of Afghanistan and Iraq and secure America!

  93. 93. moho

The literal translation of ‘Allahu Akbar” is ‘MY God is the GREATEST’

That’s a complete fabrication. It means God is Great, or God is the Greatest. If you want to say “my god” you say, “Allahi”. You can find that in any textbook of the language, you idiot. This makes the rest of your post look like the ravings of an idiot or delusional bigot. I wonder if you can prove your assertion, or if you’re just an idiot looking to get served?

ETAB. I would sooner take an eight year old seriously than you. You lost this fight, by all the rules of reason and logic. In fact, its you that said that Obama arranged the moment for a photo op, and I who said that for that to be the case, the family would have had to collude with Obama to do that. Whatever other baseless assertion you want to bring in to modify that–that he used his authority to bully them, when every other family of the other eighteen soldiers somehow resisted–is your row to how. I don’t need to prove anything, my only point is to show you what the logical conclusion of your baseless accusation is. My suggestion to you is to read a paper regularly, so that you at least don’t present ideas that can be disproven in thirty seconds by someone who has the most minimal knowledge of current events.

You can keep this up, and it would prove that you have no basis for any of your political positions. But I doubt any of your fellows would actually notice.

Moho – are you now saying that Obama didn’t ask the family? But he had to, he had to ask their permission. Are you now denying that he asked their permission? Did he just show up?

And I suggest, yet again, that you check out the meaning of ‘collude’. It has no relevance in this situation.

For Obama,as POTUS, to ask a family for permission to ‘be there’ and to be photographed, is not an action between equals. For you to ignore this, shows your lack of awareness of the reality of political and social hierarchies.

Oh, and are you now suggesting that he asked the other 18, and they refused? What’s your proof of both actions?

I’ve noticed that your rebuttals never provide facts or logic, but red herrings and insults. Hmm.

Again, Obama’s action was self-serving. The photo-op wasn’t about the war or the family. It was about Obama. Obama the pathological narcissist.

Why are you always insulting people? And what ‘fellows’ of mine are you talking about?

Pragmatist – yes, Islam is confrontational and in competition. That’s because it emerged and continues to operate within a tribal political, economic and societal ideology. It rejects other peoples – that’s basic tribalim – and a key problem with Islam is that this political, economic and societal ideology has been cocooned as a religion and defined as immutable to reason and reform.

Islam has really very little to say about religious issues; most of its axioms come from the judaic ideology of the time…and most of the Qu’ran and Hadiths are societal/political views..and quite hostile to Other peoples.

A key to undestanding Islam is its 7th c tribalism which groups people into closed tribes, each hostile to the other, and its pre-industrial mindset which rejects the use of reason, questions, individual thought. It requires reform; there are some scholars who are attempting reform but they remain isolated in academia. The political leaders prefer to retain tribalism because it keeps them in power.

This was a very good article. What you take away from the Ft. Hood massacre depends I guess on your overall feelings about the Afghanistan war. I think we should get out now and consider ourselves fortunate and ahead of the downward-spiraling, no-win game. I state that upfront so you can put my following comments into whatever perspective you wish.

    85. PAthena: What kind of psychiatrist is Major Malik Hasan? He is totally unqualified.
    ——

I think this is very much on track, and closest to getting at the underlying truth in the stomach-turning and traitorous Ft. Hood massacre. Across cultures, most issues, good or bad, revolve around livelihoods.

Overseas deployment deeper into the thick of things would be a stiff challenge to any military psychiatrist, particularly one who wasn’t at the top of his game to begin with. As a psychiatrist, Nidal Malik Hasan would have been operating in Iraq or Afghanistan without all the attendant therapeutic benefits available state-side to treat PTSD. Little things, like being able to get a real burger and fries comfort-food fix any time you want — or even just a decent cup of coffee — can be major unofficial but beneficial adjuncts to couch time and meds for those serving with PTSD.

My speculation is that the challenge impending overseas deployment posed to Nidal Malik Hasan’s professional competency was the match that ignited a dormant radical muslim terrorist fuse that might otherwise have gone unlit for the rest of his military career. That’s a subtle refinement religion in this case added to the secular Manchurian Candidate phenomenon.

Nidal Malik Hasan wasn’t out killing fellow muslims in Iraq or Afghanistan. But he was a military psychiatrist who worked to patch up those who did. As a head doctor, that perspective could have made his role seem even more insidious to his religion than overtly killing fellow muslims. Then the last straw happened — orders for overseas deployment. That meant he as a muslim would be front and center now in an Islamic country, wearing the uniform of the ‘invading infidels’ and directly helping the ‘invading infidels.’ So long story short, at any point in the future we can reasonably expect another Ft. Hood shooting or Akbar grenade rolling.

This though is beyond speculation: If Nidal Malik Hasan didn’t want to follow overseas deployment orders for whatever reasons personal to him, he could have PEACEFULLY said no, as a war resister, then let the chips fall as may — court martial, prison time, whatever — as a testament to the PEACEFUL integrity of his beliefs. He would have suffered for that at the hands of the military, but there is a community which would have subsequently regarded and welcomed him as a hero, try to blunt the military from throwing the book at him, and later help provide a means to a livelihood the military would take away.

But he didn’t do that — PEACEFULLY say no — as a testament to his personal and religious beliefs, did he? That is the most telling fact of the whole situation. As such, Nidal Malik Hasan transcended religion to go down in the books as a chickensh– corporal with the rank of major.

And back now to another speculation: The longer we are in Iraq and Afghanistan, the more we will become like them. Afghanistan now is changing us faster and for the worse than we could ever hope to change Afghanistan for the better. Look at how it’s playing out now — OBSCENELY — given the Ft. Hood massacre: On one hand Obama suggests we treat the muslims in Afghanistan like ‘at-risk’ children, who desperately need our intervention — before they in turn lash out at us. Yet now when a muslim in the armed services goes berserk, oh no, no, no, muslims aren’t like THAT, muslims are PEACEFUL, and want to PEACEFULLY coexist with everyone else.

“Why was Malik Hasan allowed to stay in the Army with all the ideological baggage that he seemed to have?

What’s the lesson after Fort Hood?

    Will the truth ever emerge?”

I think Terry Gain and others are right that political correctness explains why the Army would turn a blind eye.

One other less glamorous possibility is that his superiors may have been more concerned with what it costs them to write-off Hasan than they were about the bigger picture of the war on terror. It seems unbelievable that the military could tolerate an individual in their ranks who so candidly opposes the mandate given to them. But is it possible that they didn’t discharge Hasan for the simple reason that his qualifications were that hard to come by?

And “Will the truth ever emerge?”. I think in time we should get more solid evidence about Hasan’s background, about whether or not it was him who posted comments validating terrorism, and whether or not this was a planned terrorist plot. However I still have my doubts when most of the media (on both sides of the political spectrum) seem content drawing their own conclusions before any solid evidence is available, and when it likely isn’t in the interest of the military to disclose how they screwed up.

  126. 126. Robert

One lesson, that should have been learned long ago, is that Muslims absolutely cannot be trusted. Their modus operandi is to pretend to blend in, and pretend to be innocuous, all while seeking to infiltrate their target, plot the act of predatory war (jihad) they want to commit, look for the perfect opportunity, and then strike. That describes traitors perfectly – they blend in and give the outward appearance of being part of the population, but in reality are the enemy. Malik Hasan should be court martialed for treason, and assuming he is convicted, executed by firing squad using bullets freshly soaked with pig’s blood right in front of his eyes. (I call that the Black Jack Pershing treatment.) It is imperative that such an example be made of Malik Hasan so that other enemy infiltrators will figure out that if they make a similar attempt, they still won’t get into Islamic paradise due to contamination by a pig. It is high time that the armed forces remembered this part of the enemy’s superstitions and took full psychological advantage of it.

Since you claim that those American soldiers had it coming to them, because of the war in Afghanistan, and Irag, I’m asking if you take the same attitude towards, say, Indonesians, Filipinos and Hindus fighting back against Moslems? After all, if murdering civilians is justified, because of “blowback”, then wouldn’t the same apply to Moslems, when they butcher other people, as in Mumbai, or homicide bombing attacks in Israel? Wouldn’t that be justice, according to you? Or is “blowback” only okay when it’s Moslems, reacting against the CrusaderZionist bogeyman?

Frank, I don’t know if Moho is male, female, or something in-between. Nor do I care. Moho is an Islamist.

Ah, yes, we should never, EVER, insult Islam! We should all be good dhimmis, and simply knuckle under to all their demands! It’s worked out so well for Ft. Hood, after all! Despite Hassan’s constant talk about the evils of America, his support for his terrorist brethren and his generally lousy job rating, they kept him on, so as not to offend him, or further outrage his sensitive feelings.

Again I implied no such thing. Excerpt the relevant comment if you can, though judging from the low-intellect you’ve displayed so far, the combination of actions necessary to press ctrl and “c” may well be beyond your capacities. Ask a friend or loved one if they can help you.

The US being a nation of immigrants; it seems to me to be lunacy that its government takes sides in ethnic conflicts overseas. The result of which can only be that it will favor one ethnic group over another.
How can this be in a country that is constitutionally obligated to treat all its citizens the same? The answer of course is, it can’t.
That is one of many reasons why the US should remain neutral when it comes to places like Israel.

    Robert said;
One lesson, that should have been learned long ago, is that Muslims absolutely cannot be trusted. Their modus operandi is to pretend to blend in, and pretend to be innocuous, all while seeking to infiltrate their target, plot the act of predatory war (jihad) they want to commit, look for the perfect opportunity, and then strike.

In the above change the word Muslim to Jew and you’d probably be paraphrasing Nazi race baiting propaganda of the 1930s.
I don’t want to live in an Israeli controled Nazi state I guess I’d better find another place to live.

Your reply to 39@Chief Mack was right on the money and well written too.

The US military industrial complex will lead my country to its destruction. Don’t American Christian fanatics realize that living by the sword always results in dying by the sword?
It is sheer nonsense that invading countries thousands of miles from our shores is in my own or my country’s best interest.

moho:settle down.i thought you were a chick,it’s no big deal.

Moho, from your own comment #120: “How you think you can kill that many civilians in another country without experiencing any blowback [let alone remorse] is beyond me. I find the deaths regrettable no matter who is responsible for them. But I know one sure way to stop the ones we’re responsible for.”

Well, that sure sounds to me like you’re whitewashing terrorist killings—including the one at Ft. Hood; it’s all blowback, you know, because we’re supposedly butchering innocents in Iraq and Afghanistan. And, again, I ask—considering how violent Islam is, all across the planet, what’s your take on, say, Filipinos, or Indonesians or Hindus deciding they’ve had enough, and indulging in a little “blowback” of their own? Or is it only Islam that’s allowed to hit back? i.e., it’s just understandable “blowback” when Islam does it, but wrong for everybody else?

  139. 139. BettyBlue

And, of course, you find such deaths “regrettable.” Not reprehensible, not horrible, just “regrettable.”

Wow, there sure are a lot of Israelis on this site.

Israelis are naturally aggressive, and well versed in verbal sparring. Still the majority of zionists are christian, which shows how brainwashed they are. A zionist is just a shill working for the Vatican while thinking he puts Judaism first. Something like a klansman dawning Catholic Templar garb and burning crosses, all the while thinking he’s somehow secular.

    120. moho:

“Vivo, nothing is more disgusting than a person obsessively focused with how many people others kill, but completely unaware of how many his own country kills. Do you have any idea how many civilians we’ve killed in Afghanistan you idiot?”

The fair perspective is to show each side death statistics. I quoted the Muslim trend, which is significant no matter what the other numbers are, (you idiot?).

    125. Mike Blackadder:

    Very good observations.

  142. 142. frank grimes

140.kochevnik:i got a real stumper of a question for you,so put your thinking cap on.

Theoretically you, your mother, grandmother and daughter all have a choice of being citizens in three different countries:iran, saudi arabia or isreal.

whatever country you pick, the whole family has to live in.

    forever.

    which one would it be?

  143. 143. goodtallviking

One thing we can all count on is this: The Isalmist Jihadis all over the world are all cheering and laughing at us. They are cheering because a few dozen Americans were killed or injured, and they are laughing because so many Americans do not even understand that this was a simple Isalmofascist terrorist attack.
Sigh – where does it end ?

  144. 144. deguello

Freud famously asked: “What does woman want?”In my personal experience, they all want a glock 19. It’s basic black, light enough to carry in a coach bag,and simple, elegant and deadly.Does not apply to liberal”women”.

  145. 145. deguello

Moho It’s getting embarrassing, not your lack of historical perspective, though that’s embarrassing, but your VD. Takre your penicillin!

And today, we listen to Lt. Gen. Cone describe how they’re dealing with the aftermath.

Please notice that they are loath to describe how they’re going to deal with the beforemath.

Excellent point. In Casey’s news conference he seemed more concerned with a possible backlash against “Muslim Troops” than the victims.

Let’s try to deal with real issues like this here instead of baiting trolls like moho and kovechnik who are obvious islamo-fascists.

  148. 148. kochevnik

    147@ExPat:

I’m an atheist so not Islamic, thanks. And not a catholic so I can’t be a fascist, thanks. Other than that, good point from someone with zero debate and writing skills.
