Finally, PJ is giving Newt (positive) exposure, thanks. This interview is one of his best. If anyone wants to continue to self-educate about Newt, here’s what I think is his best speech ever, given in Nov 2009 at the Horowitz Center:

If we get Santorum, we’ll do worse. If we get Romney, we’ll do far worse than if Obama is re-elected.
Romney is a liberal who will get some of what he wants.
How dare you allow Newt to say, in his own words and without the appropriate media meme “filters”, where he really stands on issues. The MSM and RINOmedia will NOT be amused!
Now I’ll have to watch Fox and learn “what Mitt has to do to with the coming primaries” to get the proper spin and packaged anti-Newt memes the Ruling Class types want dispensed.

Standard erudition for the learned Newt. Please God Newt gets a high place in our next government.
I reject those people that always say that Newt has all this “baggage” to be president. Really? Bill Clinton was actually accused of raping a woman and Paula Jones was also vindicated in court with a large settlement from the Clintons, yet Bill Clinton went on to serve two terms in the White House. If he didn’t get caught with Lewinski, nothing would have happened to Bill.
Newt has a great record in Congress and had a long list of accomplishments. And what do the elite Republicans have to respond? That he wasn’t “liked.” Wasn’t liked? I could care less if this guy was the nastiest S.O.B. in the world. I want him to get results, not win a popularity contest in Congress, of all places. If he can achieve the same things as president that he did as Speaker, this guy is going to be great.
I still think he’s the only fellow with the brains and the stones to pull this off. He knows government and the presidency inside and out. I’ve tried to like Santorum, but I just don’t think he has the debating skills AND the knowledge of Congress to be a good president. Newt does. I think we need Newt now more than ever.
This interview put me back on Newt’s side. He actually did not say one thing I disagreed with.
Bachmann and Cain both fell by the wayside. Then I started looking around for someone else to back out of the “Final Four”. Only Newt has the conservative record which is unmatched by either Paul, Romney, or Santorum. And he’s smart and articulate. He’s willing to take conservative positions and then defend them. Heck Romney can’t even make a conservative argument. He’s stuck on welfare for the poor and raising the minium wage (all liberal positions).
And Newt sees the danger in Islam. All in all, he’s clearly the best of the rest. And really, I don’t care that he’s on his third marriage, we’ve got a country to save from the socialists and the spineless.
I’m really impressed. But it would be hasty of me to form an opinion from one good interview. Would anyone in the please shed some light on why if Newt seems like such an ideal candidate – based on his policies – why he isn’t the obvious favorite and why he is doing so badly.
I seem to be missing the downside to Newt.
Newt is disliked because of his marital history; because of a so-called “ethics censure” by the House which was basically political payback; because the leftwing media have hated him since the days of his Speakership; because the Republican establishment have decided that Romney is the next-designated Loser in Line, in the tradition of Bob Dole and John McCain; and because Obama would very much prefer to run against Romney.
Newt has problems, to be sure; he has allowed himself to be seduced by a number of stupid leftist ideas, at least temporarily—to his credit, however, he has waked up and repudiated them for the most part, unlike Romney who has doubled down on his Romneycare.
In any event, all of this is alluded to without ever really being brought up by the constant reiteration that Newt has “baggage.” Of course he has. But his “baggage” is no worse than that of Romney or Obama, and he’s a hell of a lot more dynamic than either.
This interview with Newt should have been like the other 10 or 12 interviews with Newt but this is one of the 1 or 2 that have actually been given or shown. We are in perilous times and the one thing that The Obama has accomplished, though completly unintended, is knocking the facade of freedom from every pillar and post of this nation. Our institutions that speak to liberty are woefully autocratic. Our government is covered in deceit and deception and that certainly includes the Judiciary. Our ‘Free Press’ is completly exposed as being manipulative and disingenuous, liers for short and anything but free.
I am reminded of a single sentence of scripture. It reads: “The wicked strut about freely when that which is vile is honered among men.” Ps.12v.8. The Obama and the dems, one in the same, are very wicked and seemingly hold sway by as much as 60% to 70% of this nation. This includes ALL Democrats, most independents and half of the so called Repubs. The Obama is the fulfillment of the progressives slow, accomplished agenda. The Obama is ‘the one’ for these ‘hands full of want and mouths full of gimmies’. Mr. Gingrich could be the one we are waiting for. Not ‘him’ but his abilities to at the very least express our dreams for this nation. I am also reminded of another sentence in scripture. It reads: “The mind of man has many plans but the purpose of the Lord is established.” I hope the Lord is through showing us what we have become and will choose a leader who can lead us back to “In God We Trust”.
Eleven posts in and the haters haven’t appeared yet. They will. The Romney smears have them so brainwashed they won’t be able to resist spewing their gargage.
And notice that the video appears without comment and with no PJM writer having the courage to lend his name to it. Why might that be?
If there was any sanity in republican-dom, Gingrich would be well on his way to raising the billion he will need to combat little lenin’s lies.
Instead, he is third in the polls.
It’s crazy.
Fortunately, he has already risen from the dead twice and might again. And if he doesn’t, at least we have Santorum instead of the smear merchant.
Great interview. I am loving this series and hope to see more, I’ll be directing my fence-sitting-I-give-up friends to this one. He’s got my vote.
It is long past due to see something honest about Newt. Newt is too smart, too rational, and too effective for either liberals or the Republican old guard establishment. He must be destroyed at all cost to keep Obama in office or to maintain the elected Republican status quo in their congressional seats. Even so he will get my donation and my vote. I am sick to death of voting for John McCain type losers.
I am past the age where I have time to tolerate second best, RINO, and media approved, a–holes any longer. I hope Newt is elected and is twice the mean SOB that he is purported to be by the establishment. Exactly what is needed to begin honoring the constitution again.
Newt is the best remaining candidate. Send him some money.
