I'm adopted. This has a bit of a bearing on my opinion on abortion.

I remember those repulsive T-shirts that Ms. magazine - or whoever it was - put out, the ones that said "I HAD AN ABORTION." For a few weeks I leaned strongly toward the idea of making myself a T-shirt that said "I ALMOST _WAS_ AN ABORTION, YOU HEARTLESS B____ES."

After we fought and gained our rights to free love, free sex, free abortions...after all these years...these little twerps think they're gonna take it from us? Ha! This article is exposing them for who they really are - a vast, right-wing conspiracy! They're all Bushite Republicans!!

Abortion is minimally the killing of a human being before it is out of the womb. This is a scientific fact---and not a religious one. Even a committed secularist should feel uneasy about the destruction of these "creatures" at such an early stage of their existence. As matter of fact, the loud mouth atheist Christopher Hitchens is staunchly against abortion! He most certainly is not the theological ally of the late Jerry Fallwell or Pat Robertson. The same also hold true for myself. I am a theological modernist.

We were all, once upon a time, a fetus. The only real difference is that our parents decided not to destroy us. How have so many within our culture become so nonchalant towards abortion? Let's be blunt. Much of this is the result of a postmodernist approach to truth, which has captured our intellectual institutions. In other words, many of our fellow citizens have learned to lie to themselves.
