U.S. Troops to March in Red Square Parade
When I read the news on March 18, I was ashamed to call myself an American, ashamed to admit that Barack Obama was my president.
I learned in a tiny Internet blurb from the Associated Press that the U.S. Embassy in Moscow had confirmed that on May 9, 2010, American soldiers would march in the infamous military parade through Red Square alongside the neo-Soviet army of proud KGB spy Vladimir Putin. Obama wants U.S. soldiers to help the Kremlin celebrate the 65th anniversary of the allied victory over Nazi Germany. British and French soldiers, it seems, will also take part.
All part of the now infamous Obama “reset” on Russia. Next stop for U.S. troops? Maybe a similar parade in Tehran?
Make no mistake about how Russians will understand this event. Putin will say to them: “You see, not only will they not help you fight for democracy, they will march against you. They will help me crush you.” Meanwhile Russian propagandists lose no opportunity to divide and conquer the West, even going so far as to buzz Alaska with nuclear bombers on a routine basis.
The reporting of the item was so obscure, one could almost have thought Obama was ashamed of his decision — as well he might have been.
Two days later, a massive wave of protests swept Russia, in a coordinated move by the opposition known as “Day of Anger.” The Russian government outlawed the protests, shut down the website that was organizing them, preemptively arrested activist leaders, and then conducted mass arrests of those who dared to show their faces on the streets. Obama said nothing in support of these freedom fighters.
The contrast between the craven actions of the Obama administration and the valiant stand being taken by activists within Russia could not be more disturbing. America can clearly be seen betraying the bedrock principles upon which it was founded, allowing a vehemently anti-American regime to consolidate power in Moscow, and supplying aid and comfort to American enemies across the globe. Obama is rapidly becoming a president who will live in infamy.
Signs of popular unrest are growing daily in Putin’s Russia as the KGB regime further and further compresses personal freedom and civil society, and more and more badly bungles the management of the economy. A recent news report and YouTube video showed today’s Russia in microscosm: Workers assigned to build the Sochi 2014 Olympics venues are going unpaid, starving, and living in slum conditions, because the Kremlin, strapped for cash and hopelessly corrupt, cannot pay them. Russia spent five times more preparing its athletes for the 2010 Olympics compared to 2006, and collected one-third fewer medals.
Obama got a taste, though, of how Putin treats his own countrymen when he sent Hillary Clinton to Moscow begging for a renewal of the START treaty, which lapsed months ago despite Obama’s much ballyhooed “reset” of relations, of which sending U.S. soldiers to Red Square is an obvious part. Putin chose just that moment to announce he would press forward in helping Iran to light up a nuclear power plant even as Clinton courts world sanctions against that rogue nation because of its nuclear weapons secrecy.
Seasoned Latvian diplomat Sandra Kalniete urges Obama to remember a little American history. In the past, she writes, Americans understood that while one might seek to make deals with the Russian government in the interests of world security, it was imperative to simultaneously reach out to the “second Russia” being oppressed by the first. Obama, in the manner of Neville Chamberlain, seems to have forgotten about this equation and to have firmly turned down the road of appeasement.
One hopeful sign, however, is that Senator John McCain seems to have at last gotten the message. On March 17, he rose dramatically on the floor of the U.S. Senate to demand action from the Obama administration. McCain declared:
I had an opportunity the other week to meet with one of these brave Russian champions of human dignity and freedom — a man by the name of Boris Nemtsov. Mr. Nemtsov is but one of the many Russians who believe that their country deserves a government that enshrines the human rights of its people in an inviolable rule of law that allows citizens to hold their leaders accountable through a real democratic process. I asked Mr. Nemtsov what we in Washington could do to support the cause of human rights in Russia, and he simply said: “Speak up for it. And speak up for us.” It is my pleasure to do just that today.
Russia expert Vladmir Kara-Murza writes of Nemtsov: “Kremlin propagandists would have the outside world believe that its puppet ‘parliament’ and its sanctioned ‘opposition’ parties represent the full spectrum of views in Russian society. The Solidarity leader’s meetings on Capitol Hill are proof that the world knows better.” Perhaps the Congress and the world know, but does Barack Obama? Nemtsov may have been too ambitious in his plea for assistance. Perhaps he ought to simply have asked that the U.S. not make things worse by sending military forces to Red Square.
McCain has been shockingly silent on Russia since Obama defeated him, apparently out of respect for the presidency. But now he has seen too much. It is one thing for Obama to ignore the need to speak up for American value; it’s quite something else for him to send U.S. troops to march alongside the forces of the man who is leading the attack upon them. McCain must now lead Republicans back to the forefront of U.S. foreign policy, demanding that Obama cease his reckless course of appeasement and stand behind his oath of office.
And all Americans of good conscience should write their elected representatives and demand that U.S. soldiers break their date with the neo-Soviet empire of Vladimir Putin.

soldiers to help the Kremlin celebrate the 65th anniversary of the allied victory over Nazi Germany. British and French soldiers, it seems, will also take part.
Soldiers DO NOT HELP Kremlin, they are going to parade as part of the Allies forces that ended nazism ! there isn’t a particular effort to worship Russia inner policies !
Besides, Russia and China are going to press on Iran these days !
I don’t care what the circumstances! In no way should our United States troops be in Red Square celebrating anything Russia does let along salute Lenin! For god’s sake, what is happening in this country.
As someone who served as an infantryman in the 3rd ID, I’m glad to see US Army troops in Red Square. It symbolizes that Russia seeks closer ties with us. Your dogmatic thinking is the same as the Communists hardliners in Russia who seek a return to Stalinist days. Other than the fact that you’re on different sides of the political spectrum, the thinking is the same.
Let’s face facts – ALL signs are pointing in only ONE direction -OBama is realigning the US away from the west, straight into the arms of third world countries.
His bloodying of PM Netanyahu, his putsch of ObamaCare & all the other socialist programs, and the admission by Rep Dingel about finally being able to CONTROL the PEOPLE through ObamaCare….well, it couldn’t be any clearer.
IF this putsch is not stopped-by whatever means decided upon by those fighting for their freedom-within the next 5 to ten years the US will cease to exist. It will be a bastardized shell of its former self.
Count on it!
Thanks for the alert – this is the only site where I have seen this information. As the Russian people strive for individual liberty, we are barreling towards a communist state. How ironic! And, oh yeah, any day now Russia and China will put pressure on Iran. Any day now…any day…now..any day…
#1 Marie Claude;
Correct. This is a commemoration of the victory of the Allies of 1939-45 over Fascism. My only quibble is that such ceremonies should be held simultaneously in all of the Allied capitals. Not to mention at Allied cemeteries worldwide, to remind us of the price of freedom, which is never bought cheaply.
However, I doubt that Russia or China are going to do anything to “press” Iran. The present course of events there seems to be eminently satisfactory to Obama, and for their own geopolitical reasons Russia and China want him happy. It keeps him from bothering them.

It takes a lot to stun me these days but this article did it. Why would we celebrate the victory over Nazism in the home of the scoundrels who helped Hitler start the war.
I’m going to guess that the Poles, Finns, or any other Eastern Europeans don’t want to celebrate with the Russians.
What a wonderful sight: American soldiers parading in Russia. Much better than fighting and killing each other!
Marie Claude
I remind you that without Soviet Union’s hhelp against Poland and soviet Union’s bought and paid French Communist Party action France wouldn’t have been defeated in the first place. And about those monuments in all of East Europe honoring the Red Army that locals call them “The Monument to the unknown raper”. Given some niceties you have said about the US, next time let the Russians liberate France.

Many of us have faced the cold hard facts. Allying with communist nations vs the free nations of days gone by is well understood by many of us.
You are being quite generous with your 5-10 year assessment of our demise. If the patriots don’t get busy with a serious plan to stop the “putsch” and his destruction, by the time 2012 rolls around you won’t recognize the USA.
My prayers are with Israel and PM Netanyahu. God is with you!
I will be in Moscow on May 9th. I’ll prolly avoid going to watch the parade though,,, I don’t want to get my American ass kicked by about a million disgruntled Russians.
So tell us what was the result? Ass kicked or not?
Eon:
I offer one correction to your post. The parade will commemorate the 65th anniversary of the defeat of the National Socialist form of Fascism. It does not commemorate the 1989 victory over the Marxist-Leninist form of Fascism, one whose human toll in human lives was far greater then German version.
As JFM pointed out the war began with an alliance of Brown and Red Fascism and for that reason alone we should not be marching in Moscow. The Nazi-Communist alliance has been whitewashed from history by so-called Progressive (i.e., Fascist) elements in society. Just remember no Ribbentrop-Molotov pact, no Holocaust.
it’s also honoring stalin. just saying.
Ah JFM, you’re again into the game, (I was so bored not seing you around
)
I recall you that you were defending many times the soviet troops’ behaviour over the Nazis’ ! our communists, even so if they were worshipping the soviets regim, paid a hard price their patriotism ! cuz, you can be a communist and a patriot, one would know for Russia then, if the Russians hadn’t been patriots, their army (soldiers were numerous enough) could have marched into Moscaw when Stalin was weak and indecise about the aftermaths of the nazis’ attack !
Eon, it can’t be for all the european countries the same anniversary day, even in France we have 2 : Dday in june for the Atlantic allies, and another Dday in May (much less covered by the medias, for the good reasons that it’s rather honnoring the muslims troops, as so the French’s, and the legion étrangère’s) for the France libre and colonial army, that freed north Africa, Sicilia, Italy, that landed in Provence and marched up to rejoin the Atlantic allies. Sumthin tells me that you don’t consider their lifes loss as worthy !
Now, Poland has another anniversary too, I don’t know the exact day for the other european countries, must be like for our mediterranean fest, a national’s
jb, you’d better NOT GO to Russia then, it’s a bit silly of you !
At this point, what can anyone say?
We who were against our scum of a President knew this was going to happen. We knew the destruction of any real foreign policy or domestic policy that was American was going to happen.
The Progressive Era has not come to fruition, one hundred years after it started. And with it comes the next “Dark Ages” with no future Renaissance possible, unless you believe in Star Trek.
http://www.france24.com/fr/20090508-anniversaire-victoire-8-mai-1945-commemoration-nartelle-allies-guerre-mondiale-sainte-maxime
Another step by Barack Hussein Obama to humiliate Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and all other “new” democracies of eastern Europe. Mr President – why do you treat your allies badly in order to appease a hostile country?
Israel announces while Joe Biden is there to bloviate that it is building housing in its own capital and America goes nuts, with Obama subsequently refusing to be photographed with Netanyahu. Russia announces while Hillary Clinton is cooling her heels in a waiting room that it is helping the Iranian regime that is actively killing Americans to build nuclear bombs, and we offer them an additional photo-op.
The four Allied Powers should hold their parade in Berlin.
Earlier it was still possible to attribute such utterly counter-productive initiatives as the stumbles of a young and inexperienced man. This generous assessment is losing plausibility by the day. Our optimism is precious. We must not lose it, but we must also consider seriously the possibility of somber intentions at the top.
Anyone knows what to do with a misguided missile?
I don’t care what anniversary the Russians are commemorating. Is anyone here (other than vivo) going to seriously suggest that the Soviets, or their modern heirs, have never used the anniversary of VE Day to intimidate the West and their own people?
What’s new here is that we now have a foreign policy and a military that not only does not condemn this, but steps into parade formation and participates in it. Just as the Cuban or East German or other client states of the old Soviet Union did.
I’m convinced: Obama does not want to appease dictators. He wants to be one.
And as I recall, Obama, turned down the invite from Angela Merkel to celebrate the fall of The Berlin wall. Friends of Obama are enemies of the American People.
This is not surprising. Remember, Obama did not want to attend the ceremony in Germany commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall. He also withdrew the American missile shield from central Europe as well. Face it, gang, it’s a lot easier for Obama to appease tyrants than it is to stand up to them. And with health care now law, it will turn into the black hole for all future Federal budgets, meaning we will have less and less money to spend on defense each year.
The exact same thing happened to the Western European nations after World War II. They all became huge socialist nanny states and their defense budgets were slashed on a yearly basis. So the militaries in all of Western Europe today are nothing but a sad joke, Third World sized armies armed with First World nuclear weapons (just like Britain and that pathetic excuse for an independant country, France). What a shame.
Anyway, that’s what the United States is now going to look like in five years, so get used to it. What that turd Obama doesn’t understand is that with the fall of American military strength will come the rise of some really nasty regional powers, like Iran, Russia, or North Korea.
And if those nasty regional powers decide to intimidate American interests or trade in those areas, there won’t be much we can do about it. Hey Iran, you want to nuke Israel or close the Straits of Hormuz? Sorry, we can’t do much about it because we’re paying for health care now. North Korea wants to invade South Korea? Who cares, we’ll just increase our trade deficit with China, so who needs them? Russia wants to invade the Baltic States or Georgia? Oh well, sucks to be them, because we are paying now for pre-existing conditions and don’t have the cash. Al Qaeda regrouping in Afghanistan? Too bad, folks, according to our president we’re out of there next year. You get the picture, and it doesn’t look like a happy ending, right?
If, as a nation, we don’t do anything to stop this now, who will be there when global commerce is threatened by some sadistic tyrant? Even worse, who will be there to help the United States when we are threatened by those same tyrants? The answer is, nobody. So get used to the world according to appeasment. After all, we wouldn’t want to get a dictator or a tyrant angry at us, would we? Besides, in a few years there won’t be anything we can do about it anyway. Like I said before, what a shame.
Obama is so poorly educated that he is probably completely ignorant of the fact that the Soviet Union helped start the war. he most likely does not know that without the Soviet communist agitators in prewar Germany Hitler could never have come to power. His association with some of the most rabid anti-Americans in this country probably means his understanding of US history is so skewed he wouldn’t recognize reality if it dropped a bomb on him!
Looks like the lights are going out in America this time.
Goose step?!
So you are saying you are against a commemoration of the victory of the Allies of 1939-45 over Fascism. or are you just trying to rile people up with a leading headline and article? why should i read what you say when you are basically lying and being contemptuous to me the reader?
Not only should you read the article but do your homework. Our country is being threatened from within.
Does anyone still doubt this man is a Communist?
@ old Libertyship nostalgic,
So the militaries in all of Western Europe today are nothing but a sad joke, Third World sized armies armed with First World nuclear weapons (just like Britain and that pathetic excuse for an independant country, France). What a shame

France army budget 2009: 32 billions € (not included pensions), increasing of 1,6 billion € vs 2008 (+ 5,4 %)
UK army budget 2009: 29,1 billions £ (about the same as France)
US army budget 2009: 651 billions $ increasing of 68 billions vs 2008 (583 billionss in 2008 and 560 in 2007)
Russia army budget 2009: 36 billions €
So, where is the threat ?
We do not need your army budget here, as we haven’t a colonial protectorate to defend anymore, but you do have a colonial empire budget !
And as referred in our “white paper” of our defense, the nowadays threats aren’t the same as they were 70 years ago : piracy, terrorism, streets guerillas, cyber spying….
we need less troop men but better trained ingeeners, paratroopers, special forces, super renseignment services… high tech equipments.
I recall you that our piracy treatments were all successful, that our terrorism attacks treatment were all successful (unlike yours)….
Arthur:
Nobody is against celebrating the victory over Brown Fascism. We just oppose celebrating it with the successors to their Red Fascist allies who was the enabler of the Holocaust.
Marie Claude:
I have to support you on this. The French military is the only self-sustaining military in the alliance. The reason they can do this is that they consciously patterned your military forces after the US. No other country in NATO, including the UK can really deploy without US logistical support. With the exception of Canadian ground forces who rely on US support for logistics and mobility, the rest of NATO has minimal value.
When the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was celebrated, the chief deformed soul in the Oval Office, wasn’t able to make it.
The reputation has been established, and Barack Obama is as deserving of contempt as Stanley Baldwin, who was profoundly blind to what Hitler, Goebbels, Goering, Hess, et al., were up to from 1933 – 1939.
Marie Claude: Are you serious? Communist patriots?
It was attack the Poles and Fins (and later on the Nazis) and maybe live, or refuse and be executed on the spot. This wasn’t heroism or patriotism, it was logic on the part of the soldier in the face of pure statist evil.
I’m glad I didn’t re-enlist! Maybe the National Guard in 3 years, we’ll see who is in charge then.
Comrade Obama just wants to get a picture of US soldiers marching in front of a big banner of Stalin so he can hang it in the Oval Office and admire it all day. I sincerely hope someone hurls a shoe dripping with fresh dog turds at him when he goes to Indonesia.
gurgle gurgle, glug glug glug
thanks to the Piggy-Niggy and his rainbow hordes…
Marie Claude, #27, I just knew you would take the bait. Let me be perfectly clear about this: The French people have always been, and always will be, a bunch of whores. They had the largest army in Europe in 1940 and they held out against the Germans for about, oh, four weeks. Then they not only gave up, but they actually embraced Vichy and Marshal Petain. Those happy campers not only actively collaborated with the Germans, but they also were responsible for the deaths of thousands of Jews, whom they ever so willingly handed over to the Germans for extermination. The French were and always will be a bunch of selfish, gutless, cowards.
Then, after World War II, they even refused to join NATO under de Gaulle, even though NATO was specifically created to defend you creeps. And while you took advantage of the protection NATO offered, you also reduced your military spending in order to finance your socialist nanny state. You also made half-hearted attempts to succeed in Algeria, Tunisia, and (who could forget) Vietnam, but came up empty in each case. If those were demonstrations of your military capabilities, I wouldn’t brag too much about your military past.
Today you have a small military and a few nuclear submarines. Even your only aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle, spends more time in the repair yard than at sea. And the small armed forces you have couldn’t fight their way out of a Parisienne whore house, which is only appropriate because that is where they belong.
France usually only donates troops to “Peacekeeping” missions for the United Nations, as in Southern Lebanon, primarily because it usually means they don’t have to do any fighting. And when it comes to doing some real fighting, as in Afghanistan, you manage to scrape together a couple of hundred men as a token force, while the United States has over 50,000 troops stationed there.
You have a tiny military that functions much like a toy poodle, nice to look at but not much use for anything else. Your government happily supports dictators like Saddam Hussein (you built a nuclear reactor for him, remember) and when it came time to put sanctions on him through the United Nations, your country whored themselves once again in the “Oil for Food” program. For that alone, I hope Chirac dies a slow and painful death.
So please, don’t tell me what your military capabilities are. Your country is about as much of a threat as Switzerland is and the rest of the world knows it. A bunch of selfish, no good, hedonists with a rapidly declining population (you’re even too selfish to have kids!) who could care less about anybody else but themselves. I only pray that from now on we have nothing to do with you Vichy pigs.
Nice to see PJM return to the ho-hum, small storm, big teacup issues. Man, I would love to be one of those soldiers. Touring Russia is very expensive and they should get a free ticket. Lets hope they get some time off to “see the sights”. Its an amazing place…even the McDonalds is a hoot !! Good Luck to Our “Tourist” Troops !!
lol Marie Claude, your so called patriotic french military will not stop your pitiful country of becoming the Caliphate of France. Get used to it, lol.
This is what Patton and Churchill always wanted, to march down Red Square. They may have wanted to bring more than a dress parade.
The idea of foreign soldiers marching in a memorial parade is categorically insane. What if this was Russian soldiers marched down The Avenue of the Americas in N.Y.C.?
Isn’t it interesting that our trolls don’t really participate in the conversation. Is it because they don’t read the post or are they so historically illiterate that they don’t know the role the Soviet played in advancing Hitler’s war objectives?
Old Soldier, I understand that you worship your so huge army, but like you so stoopidly ironise on our so called big 1940 army (not more important than the Brits’ one, which was also defeated in Dunkeerke), and certainly not as powerful as the Germans’, even though, your greatest army of the world has no concrete result too ! we can’t say it’s because of lacking of material means though, nor of lacking technical means, nor of lacking of trained men… the similitude with our 1940 army might be with the equal percentage of men, (though mostly of circonscription for us, thus not professional like your soldiers) but we hadn’t the equivalent technical means, nor enough planes… so what’s your problem ? no global strategy, but demonstrations of materials and bombings ! no close contacts with the populations
Let me tell you that Marechal Petain was still a screen against a direct management from the Nazis, and if Franco still deny Germany to cross Spain and set lufwaffe base in southern Spain, it’s was a Petains success, (as a formr embassador in Spain) as well he didn’t let Germany use Marroco for the same reasons
But Petain proved to be too clever by half. While he fought against a close Franco-German military collaboration, and fired his vice premier, Pierre Laval, for advocating it, and secretly urged Spain’s dictator Francisco Franco to refuse passage of the German army to North Africa, his attempts to undermine the Axis while maintaining an official posture of neutrality did not go unnoticed by Hitler, who ordered that Laval be reinstated as vice premier. Petain acquiesced, but refused to resign in protest because of fear that France would come under direct German rule if he were not there to act as a buffer. But he soon became little more than a figurehead, despite efforts to manipulate events behind the scenes that would advance the Free French cause (then publicly denying, even denouncing, those events when they came to light).
what about the Brits ?
On this day in 1940, British troops evacuate France in Operation Ariel, an exodus almost on the order of Dunkirk. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill offers words of encouragement in a broadcast to the nation: “Whatever has happened in France … [w]e shall defend our island home, and with the British Empire we shall fight on unconquerable until the curse of Hitler is lifted.”
With two-thirds of France now occupied by German troops, those British and Allied troops that had not participated in Operation Dynamo, the evacuation of Dunkirk, were shipped home. From Cherbourg and St. Malo, from Brest and Nantes, Brits, Poles, and Canadian troops were rescued from occupied territory by boats sent from Britain. While these men were not under the immediate threat of assault, as at Dunkirk, they were by no means safe, as 5,000 soldiers and French civilians learned once on board the ocean liner Lancastria, which had picked them up at St. Nazaire. Germans bombers sunk the liner; 3,000 passengers drowned.
Churchill ordered that news of the Lancastria not be broadcast in Britain, fearing the effect it would have on public morale, since everyone was already on heightened alert, fearing an imminent invasion from the Germans now that only a channel separated them. The British public would eventually find out-but not for another six weeks–when the news finally broke in the United States. They would also enjoy a breather of another kind: Hitler had no immediate plans for an invasion of the British isle, “being well aware of the difficulties involved in such an operation,” reported the German High Command
http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/6/16?catId=14
if that doesn’t look like as a complete retreat ? dunno what it is !
if we are a bunch of whores, you are a bunch of pussies
Old soldier, again about your suspiscion of a non patriotic Russia, what does mean for 8 millions dead soldiers, 20 millions cvils dead, not in gulag, but because of war with the nazis !
have a look at what says this russian guy about patriotism and pride of being Russian:
http://www.russiablog.org/2008/10/russian_patriotism_unleashed_b.php
so you restraint sense of courage and patriotism makes me laugh
old soldier, The rest is your usual BS, Iwon’t bother to argue about it again, I’m done with you, you’re such a stubborn ignorant ol american, enjoy your buddy bear in your rocking chair, that’s what you’re good enough !
x, until now, no Hassan fired at our soldiers in our barracks, nor a plane smashed our Effel Tower, no Cair that gains every time it put a case on trial ! unlike you
Re: Libertyship46: “Your country is about as much of a threat as Switzerland is and the rest of the world knows it.”
I trust you are referring to their strong belief in neutrality, and not their military prowess. For those who don’t now, there is a good reason the Nazis didn’t invade. They would have lost and they were smart enough to realize it.
This shows further support that Obama’s core foreign policy principle is this: accomodate Russia’s reassertion of power.
By the way, where did you hear Russia spends only $36 billion on defense? Surely you don’t rely on Russia to give you honest figures? Why would a government unaccountable to its own people or subject to transparency-enhancing institutions such as a Congressional Budget Office or even an independent judiciary reveal accurate information about something as vital to power as the actual size of its military expenditures?
dan, if you suggest that you know more than our specialised journalists on military subjects, you’re free to rely on your own impression, but not me !
http://bruxelles2.over-blog.com/article-23744183.html
Marie Claude, at least the French acquitted themselves honorably in Operation Overlord, and I am glad that “The Longest Day” was made into a movie, rather than it only remain a book.
As long as Emile Zola, Jean Valjean (I know he is a fictional character, but he is representative of true France, like Athos, Porthos, Aramis & D’Artagnan) and Martin of Tours hold their rightful places in today’s France, it is too soon to write France’s tomb stone.
There is still room for French Gallantry, and frankly France’s friends who are worthy of respect do not take France for granted.
36. JED:
Not quite. On anniversaries of V-E day, Polish army units marched with Brits in Britain, until that was put to an end.
Check “Behind Closed Doors”, which was shot in Poland.
Marie Claude: Most of what you wrote is completely indecipherable. Perhaps a French blog would be for you.
“what does mean for 8 millions dead soldiers, 20 millions cvils dead, not in gulag, but because of war with the nazis !”
It means the Nazis killed almost as many people in the Soviet Union as Lenin and Stalin.
We allied ourselves with the weaker totalitarian regime in order to defeat the stronger one with which we were at war. And then the weaker totalitarian regime became the enemy – an enemy every bit as dangerous and guilty of crimes against humanity that were equally notorious.
But the Bolshevik regime has been exposed to the world and crushed. The victory over the Nazis remains a triumph of the Russian people – a triumph they paid for dearly. This we can celebrated with them provided it’s done the right way. BTW, is Red Square still called Red Square?
The Red Square is still called a Red Square (and will be called so forever, you know
, but this has nothing to do with Communism: the word “red” in Russian means “beautiful” since very old times. This Square is called “Krasnaya” (“Red”) since 2nd part of XVII century.
About reaction of Russians about US troops in the Parade. It is generally positive. Of course, in every society you have a big number of idiots who are addict to obsessional ideas, whether it is the Americans or Russians.
The “Victory Day” is a day of those people (not regimes!) who defeated Nazism.
One can only wonder the social reaction of seeing American troops on parade there.
The Prince of St.Petersburg might be seeing the trouble he is in,and needs this bit of propaganda.
Let us wait and see if the Russians jeer or cheer us.
I’m just wondering how stupid both Obama and Putin are, many of the “Old Guard” on both sides are dying off
and the generation behind them have not a care for their so called struggles anymore.
The social unrest of the sixties dies when the first footstep of Americans lands in Red Square.
The generation after the radicals of the sixties has our own vision. We have survived you,and soon to surpass
you.Yes,there will be change…as we will it to be.
Charles R. Williams: Do we celebrate their victory and subjugation of the Poles too?
I do kind of celebrate their embarrassing failed invasion of Finland – although the allies let them extract revenge after the war.
So our President has not only opened the door wide for socialism (via the Health Care Bill), is working to open our borders wide and remove our right to bear arms…he NOW wants our U.S. Soldiers to march in a parade in the strongest Socialist countries in the world too? What wormhole have I fallen through? This CAN’T be happening!!!
Old soldier get your beer dose !
Way ahead of you!
Bravo
Is there any doubt obama despises freedom?
He is allying himself w/ thugs and dictators so they don’t speak harshly of him when he takes the next step and tries to put his boot on our necks.
I suppose that she’s just one more shrill Obama hater, but the author of this goofy article comes off as a war mongering nut (And a rather old fashioned one to boot).
to 41. Marie Claude:
“x, until now, no Hassan fired at our soldiers in our barracks, nor a plane smashed our Effel Tower, no Cair that gains every time it put a case on trial ! unlike you”
Unlike me? Are you nuts? You don’t know where I come from. I could be a maori or an amazonic indios. Still your country will be a Caliphate with not a single bullet being shot. LOL
x ware you arguing about nuts ? or just repeating neocon BS ?
Oh dear. You make it sound that Russian society is terribly oppressed by Putin’s regime. While this might be true for some people the majority of Russians support Putin, they don’t want another government. Even opposition leaders and liberal journalists are divided in their opinion as to whether Putin should go or not (because there are no good alternatives, really).
I don’t see how Putin is leading an attack on America. This nuclear power plant in Iran has been postponed because of political reasons for the past 15 years. NATO just told Georgia that the doors for them to join the alliance are open (clearly not something Russia would like) so it’s not like anyone is being overly nice Russia.
Red Square Parade is a commemoration of victory in WWII where Soviet Union and USA were allies, apart from UK and France CIS countries are going to be there and even Poland. It’s a gesture of good political will. Why not celebrate the things that unite people once in a while, instead of waging cold war all the time.
The Allies of WWII are either now deceased, or very close to it.
However, regardless of what “anyone” says, this generation “WAS”
the “GREATEST GENERATION”.
Approximately 250 years ago, America had another great generation.
These are our founding fathers and colonial patriots who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their honor to each other to found this great nation.
We too are now at a “crossroads” in our destiny.
We have an “EXTREMELY” important decision to make. A decision that is every bit as decisive and important as that which our fathers and forefathers had to face and defeat.
My question to you, my American brothers and sisters is this: Do we just stand by and hope and pray that all turns out well for America? Do we just roll over and “play dead” while we are actually aware of what is happenning to our country? Do we just let a few elites who happened to get control of our government and shred our beloved Constitution run rampant over our American way of life? Do we just stand by and wake up some morning very soon to a new Socialist or Communist government. Or, perhaps we may not be at all fortunate and wake up some morning to newspaper headlines declaring that we will no longer have elections and that we are now a totalitarian state.
You say that it can’t happen here? Don’t be stupid. Don’t bury your head in the sand because the head you bury in the sand may be the one that is “chopped off” It has happened in MOST countries.
“IF”, we EVER let them control us to the extent that they take our weapons away from us, we too will face executions and imprisonment just as each and every country that has relinquished their rights has endured.
Let this sink into your minds….. ‘IT “CAN” HAPPEN HERE!!!!! It really can.
ESPECIALLY IF WE ALL JUST STAND IDLY BY AND LET IT HAPPEN.
I seriously urge all American Patriots to be ready to come to the aid of their country. It is not only their right…It is their obligation.
Just as our Fathers and Founding Fathers have done to bequeth upon us all of the rights, privileges, Freedoms, Liberty, and happiness, it is now OUR TURN to defend this great nation from “ANY” enemies, both foreign and “domestic”.
We MUST protect all of the freedoms and rights we have been blessed to enjoy. We MUST preserve them for our children and their children and their children
If the time does come, we as American Patriots “MUST” be ready to stand up and revolt and Take America back! It is not simply a matter of choice but rather a matter of honor and responsibility!!!
My fellow Patriots..We “OWE” this to our future generation.
America, there “ARE” some things still worth fighting and dying for!!! And, this is definitely one of them.
WAKE-UP AMERICAN PATRIOTS! PLEASE WAKE UP AND TAKE HEED BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!! PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ALONG TO ANY AND ALL FELLOW PATRIOTS WHO YOU KNOW WILL BE READY TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED, IF NECESSARY!!
God bless and preserve this great nation of ours.
God Bless America.
Unafraid,
Live Free or Die trying!
Allen Jewel Pollick… Just one of Millions of American Patriots
Unfortunately, respectful Kim Zigfeld knowledge about Russia is equal to 0.
Wake up from your morbid nighmares baby, the cold war is over.
It’s amazing how brainwashed people can be in such a free country as America is.
God bless US and Russia and protect us from psychos similar to Kim Zigfeld.
More and more every day, I am being convinced that our president is an Arab Muslim.
AlvinPilot: I could not agree more with your sounding of the alarm. They haven’t yet come for our powder and ball, but the screws are tightening on our Liberty and Freedom.
The “great desecrator” in latin terms: potus fuctus
I believe that we need to be vigilant to any threat against our freedoms.
It’s too bad the blogger who wrote this is a communist nazi. Marching on the Red Square is an honor. But I’m afraid pajamasmedia.com is run by nazis
I respect US French and British veterans of WW2 and I glad to see they in our country. But not You! Red facizm!!! How can you write this???? Peoples of cold war era, stop to sputter, tired out horses))
it is to late my son is already their
Pity Obama did not attend to show unity with both Germany and Russia in the cause of preserving peace. For that is what “Victory Day” should be about. Modern Germans can be proud that Angela Merkel walked beside Medvedev today and with him laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame, to show that unity and solidarity of all nations is the only way to stop such a terrible war ever happening again. Germans can also be proud that “Ode to Joy” was played in Red Square today, with words about unity of mankind -by Schiller, and the moving music by Beethoven.
You are inadequate. All Russian want peace and goodness, and you see the war continue. Heal from the madness.
Reading many of these comments, I see that ‘Sweetness and Light’ is rapidly forthcoming for the entire world. No more conflicts, No more wars. Nothing but a mutual love for all humans of the world…..whether they like it or not. It will be forced upon them with a United and vengeful, One World ‘Power’.. “Prophesy”!
People stop making enemy’s based on things that happened in the past. Try to move on and stop reminding yourselves of the brainwashing the government did to your parents. America and Russia should try to get along and become friends. There is nothing wrong with trying to make peace. We as Americans dont have to have everything OUR way or the highway. If our president does something to ease tensions with another country, let him. This parade is about the defeat of nazi germany, We (The allies) did it together. Our military should march proudly, along the side of our allies and celebrate our victory’s.
to brainless”marie-claude”-you are idiot!
Nazism-always was,is and will be saving the world!
