There is only one sensible response to the abduction and murder of Israeli citizens.

The response to the murder of the three abducted Israeli teens, Eyal Yifrah, Gilad Shaar, and Naftali Fraenkel, has been predictable in its call for restraint and moderation. Left-wing organizations like the Israeli political party Meretz, the New Israel Fund, and J Street, wedded to nebulous and self-serving concepts like “social justice,” ramble on about calm, measure, reconciliation, and the larger interests of communal peace — as if avowedly vicious and homicidal entities like Hamas and its offshoots will feel humbled and ashamed of their murderous practices and will experience a benign change of heart.

In fact, they are busy celebrating what they regard as a revanchist victory — indeed, candies were handed out to mark the abduction and the ambulance ferrying the bodies of the slain teens was pelted with stones and spray-painted by Palestinian villagers — and will not be deterred from carrying out further atrocities in the future if they are allowed to get away with them. Perhaps the principals of our conciliatory organizations would feel differently if their own children had been kidnapped, tortured, and killed. But one thing is certain: for all their “prayers for the suffering families” and “calls for peace,” they are incapable of imagining what their own people endure and are barren of genuine feeling, while full of empathy and concern for their assailants, who wish only for their speedy death and the subsequent extinction of the Jewish state. There is only one word for such flaccid, self-righteous and ultimately self-immolating appeasers: idiots.

As for the Israeli leadership, it’s a mixed bag. Outgoing president Shimon Peres is a grande fromage who over the years has grown gamy and rancid, with a soft European rind. Benjamin Netanyahu should be cut a little slack given the intense pressures, domestic and international, that he labors under — but he is not his father, who was cut in the mold of the pragmatic and unyielding patriot Ze’ev Jabotinsky. (See Benzion Netanyahu, The Founding Fathers of Zionism.)

With only a few exceptions, like Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon, Foreign Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman, and Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon, the Israeli leadership comprises a motley crew best left to their often lucrative but generally undistinguished careers, prone to log-rolling and corruption, devoid of segulah (Hebrew for virtue or inner treasure), more preoccupied with their American holdings and European vacations than with the security of their beleaguered nation.

Israel should rain hell down on top of the Palestinians. The only difference between the Palestinians and the Nazis is that the Palestinians are not organized enough (they are, however, more immoral and bloodthirsty than the Nazis). As far as I am concerned (as a non-Jew) Israel is justified in doing anything they want to stop this madness.

And for those who want to accuse Israel, I want you to think about this. You are basically calling the Palestinians who murder innocent civilians morally equivalent to Israel soldiers who end up killing Palestinian terrorists to prevent them from slicing the throats of 6-month babies. Look at how Palestinians react to the murders of Israelis and Jews. Celebration in the streets, passing out of sweets, mothers of martyrs saying how proud they are of their now dead sons. Disgusting and sick.

Indeed, David.

We suffer the same fools. We mirror the same sedition and treason.

We have also left our children in the hands of cultists and their predatory indoctrinations.

Yet, Israel has not, even with magnanimous gestures and open arms to Arabs repeatedly rewarded with rockets, bombs and vicious attacks on women and children civilians...it has not forgotten that it is a Biblical land.

And they are people of the Bible. The Muslims have not forgotten "people of The Book" either.

The traitors call for "restraint", and bet everything you own that ANY response will be called "disproportionate".

While ISIS crucifies those too "moderate" in their thinking and Hamas kidnaps schoolchildren and executes them...the corrupt, seditious and incompetent plot yet another slander about the patriots who strive to be men who protect their women and children and defend their nation from feral and soulless rabid dogs.

Our lawless Party Animal and his cabal will not raise a finger to help. But repeatedly have raised one at Bibi.

They SAY they want a two state solution. This is a subterfuge presaged by their systematic dismantling of America, her borders and defenses. I say, if anyone truly wants a two state solution, fine. Let's help wipe Hamas, Hezbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS, al Qaeda and their murderous ilk from the planet, leaving not even a dirty grease spot left in the sand.

When the murderous barbarism is beaten out of them, then and only then will they deserve to join a civilized world that has mollycoddled, enabled and emboldened their demented psychopathology for too long.

A beating is the only thing they understand and respect. It is high time they took one.

And by God they have one coming.

For every Israeli death, one more acre should be put inside the security barrier.

you let evil start, and it continues, you give it a breath of air, when it should have been suffocated.

so now we are past the simple stage. Full scale response to the evil must be done, every time.

The author opines; "How, then, should Israel have responded to Hamas, the abductors of Gilad Shalit? The terrorist organization should have been given three days to return its captive, or risk its total destruction, which Israel has the power to accomplish."

Can't agree for two reasons; Israel will not withstand the international condemnation long enough to accomplish the total destruction of Hams. And even were they to summon the intestinal fortitude to finally tell the world to go pound sand, other jihadists will take the place of Hamas.

What then to do?

Firstly the vast majority of Israeli's need to recognize that the author is essentially correct when he states that, "The time for temporizing, fruitless negotiations, so-called realist politics, and tolerance of an active and toxic fifth column that diligently and indefatigably strives to undermine the safety of Israeli citizens and the security of the state, is demonstrably over.
...Every left-wing media outlet and treasonous university department in the country should be rigorously monitored and in some cases, if necessary, shut down.

Much of the Shomron must be annexed. Now may be the time for the imposition of martial law in order to evade the insidious complicities of the Supreme Court. Without these determined initiatives, such events as we have just witnessed will inevitably keep happening — rocket attacks, abductions, killings, the disruption of ordinary life, the whole ball of filthy wax. "
.

Secondly, after the conditions the author states are met, then issue a warning, announcing a new doctrine; the next time an Israeli is killed by Hamas or any other Islamic organization, a Mosque in Gaza, the West Bank, etc. will be leveled for each of the Israeli victims. Let them know that the Dome of the Rock is on the table also. Finally, set a new doctrine that if ever Israel is attacked with WMDs… the very first nuclear retaliatory strike will be the Kaaba in Mecca.

Let the ‘religious’ fanatics know what they risk.

Israel’s two fundamental mistakes are in refusing to identify their enemy as Islam itself and in believing that it cannot survive without American support.

Ironically, it is Obama who is disabusing Israelis of the belief that Israel’s survival is dependent upon American support.

The operation Israel should carry out is not only the destruction of Hamas. It is high time that Israel takes back the ancient Jewish provinces of Judea and Samaria -- in other words the Left Bank. Only an Israel stretching from the Mediterranean to the Jordan River will finally have defensible borders. That's right, the Palestinians should be pushed out of the West Bank and into Jordan. Let the entire International Jew Hating Community scream its head off. After the West Bank has been taken back what are they going to do about it? And Israel will finally be defensible. Far more important than what anti-Semite Obama and anti-Semite Kerry scream and threaten. As for the Arabs, well, they themselves say they only respect the strong horse. That will be Israel after operation push them out.

Some very erudite Israeli commentators have been proposing precisely that solution. Martin Sherman, for example, recommends buying the Arabs out - providing them with financial incentives to leave. In the long run, it would actually cost less than the death and destruction they inflict on us. Today, Vic Rosenthal has just reached the same conclusion. His column is here: http://abuyehuda.com/2014/07/if-coexistence-is-impossible-then-what/

This time, Israel has to resist taking the nonproductive way out, which has been to announce bold action, make some futile gestures, and practically invite the US and EU to stop further, effective action. No more announcements, just get it done! Obama, for his part ought to restrain himslf from threatening Israel behind the scenes, directly or through his pro-Arab employees.

I don't mean to be insensitive or to downplay this heinous crime, but why such a huge reaction to this? Haven't there been much worse atrocities and murders by Palestinians in the past? It seems that the execution of three young men is getting a stronger reaction than previous terrorist bombings that killed and maimed dozens, including women and children. Again, apologies if this is in poor taste, but isn't this a fairly modest crime by the historical standards of this conflict? Why has this crime struck such a nerve?

I think stanlyT has a point. I also think that we are, in very slow motion, just getting sick to death of all this. It goes on and on and on. For about 100 years we have endured this Wilsonian nightmare where permanently infantilized tribal cultures get a permanent pass, never being held to account for any atrocity no matter how appalling. The worst thing here are the polls, with 60% support among the Palestinians, it's clear that there is no hope of peace with these people. Moreover, had they been held to account for the uncountable act of murder in the past, there would have possibly been a civilization left to save, now, so coddled that they think murder is a game, there is just nothing.

At some point a society needs to become extinct. This is different from killing the people. Nazi society, and Japanese Militarist Society, were utterly destroyed. They don't exist at all save for some goofy racist groups about as consequential as historical re-enactors. It's time for Arab Islamism to go the same way. Each time we don't obliterate it, we add to the number of people who are going to have to die to destroy it when we finally wake up.

At some level we all know this, so even the little ones are starting to hurt more. God knows no one wants the kind of war we are finally going to have to fight...

Actually, I do not find your comment in bad taste. It's a very interesting question. When you think about it. Gilad Shalit also aroused a strong reaction. Perhaps it has something to do with the "slow motion" of the atrocity? We have time to imagine ourselves in the place of the kidnapped or their family and to come together as a nation and as a people to pray and to hope. With the others, it's most often sudden death. We are still shocked to the core, and we still expect our government to avenge the victims, but we don't first have that hope.

The Evil genie is out of the Bottle. It all began in 1967 when the Israeli Forces reclaimed all of Jerusalem but in a moment of weakness and misguided secular-Jewish largesse decided to allow the Muslim's Al Aksa Mosque to remain undisturbed on Temple Mount. Temple Mount is a Spiritual Vortex, given to the Jewish Nation to safeguard by the Holy ONE, the Omnipotent Force of all Forces in the Universe, with strict instructions as to what is allowed and forbidden on this most Awesome and powerful Spiritual Powerplant on planet earth.
The Jewish People have no Spiritual claim to the Holy Land when they do not fulfill their 'part of the bargain', that is, their G-d given responsibility under the Covenant to serve as
Custodians of the Mount. In effect, fulfilling that responsibility, more than any historical claims or 'legal' titles of ownership is what gives legitimacy to the Jewish possession of Jerusalem and the Holy Land.
On a deep and subconscious spiritual level this truth is felt if not understood not only by the European Union and United Nations but particularly by our half brothers in the Muslim world who have rightfully concluded the weakness and spiritual faithlessness of the Jewish Nation in spurning G-d's Will. Their fraudulent possession of Temple Mount and the Israeli Government's complicity in reinforcing of this fraud by officially forbidding any Jewish prayer or even for Jews to set foot there has caused a world-shattering metaphysical imbalance, a short-circuit so to speak.
Since 1967 the cancer of Radical Islam has metastasized world-wide, threatening every civilization with physical and spiritual destruction. The 9-11 attacks, Violent terror attacks of non-Muslims, Islamic unrest and Sharia in Europe, everywhere Islam has a presence, the dread and unspeakable menace of two nuclear armed Islamic States, Pakistan and soon Iran just to name a very few nightmares.
Is this a coincidence? Is it a coincidence that all three major religions hold Jerusalem as sacred ground to be fought and died for? A coincidence that Jerusalem is never mentioned in Islam's holiest book, Koran, yet thousands of times in Jewish Scripture!
The truth is that nothing can stop this Cancer from spreading. Not Armed forces, Drone assassinations, Civil laws or security checkpoints. Not even the false panacea of a 'successful' political settlement with Arab Palestinians in Judea/Samaria for 'Palestinian' Statehood there will turn the tide and return the 'Genie' to the 'box'. Those are nothing but band-aids on soon-to-be terminal cancer. And more and more as the nations of the world, including formerly friendly ones in European Capitols and Washington D.C. Quietly have begun to openly question the merits, even the 'legitimacy' of the Jewish State, the situation facing Israel has become dire. Far worse than Iranian nukes is this other threat. Sadly, more and more American Jews have come to question Israeli status in that region. The BDS movement grows on American University campuses, most troubling as it now includes growing numbers of young liberal Jewish students, men and women.
Militarily, politically, philosophically, morally ...Israel is becoming weakened on many fronts. It is not certain the Jewish State can survive much longer under the expanded front.
Unless...The Jewish Nation will do what should have been done in 1967. Remove the Al Aksa from Temple Mount. Not destroy it for we Jews do not destroy. This golden-domed edifice can be disassembled brick by brick, placed on flat bed trucks, hauled overland and presented as a gift to the Hashemite King as a goodwill gesture.
We must Restore the balance to the Spiritual Vortex as was intended by the Holy ONE. There Is No Other Way. Yes, it will be painful. The region and world will bleed with Muslim fury and world-violence. For a while. And then, the cancer will die as the Genie of Spiritual imbalance is returned to the Bottle. There Is No Other Way. And Time Is Running Out.
