This Is the Khalidi Obama Embraced
Many others have surmised that the Los Angeles Times is running interference for Barack Obama, declining not just to provide the tape of the Rashid Khalidi goodbye event which Obama attended in 2003, but a complete transcript. It is reasonable to ask what could have been so bad about the event. What could possibly have been so objectionable about the speeches or proceedings that might concern voters at this late date?
Well, the original Times report gives us only the sketchiest account. But now we have a video of a complete Khalidi lecture from June 2007. It is quite an eye-opener.
Viewers curious about the views of the man whom in 2003 Obama gave a “warm embrace” (physically or verbally?) should skip to the fifty-minute mark on the video tape. You see, Khalidi tells us, the U.S. is repeating the same error of the Cold War in pursuing its war against Islamic terrorists. According to Khalidi it is the same “blind, foolish, reductionism.” And the U.S. policy is designed according to Khalidi to “get Palestinians to destroy one another.” And on it goes.
His view of Israel? It is worse than “apartheid.” Continue to the end of the tape when he is asked about the massive Israeli media conspiracy headed by none other than Mortimer Zuckerman. He doesn’t quite buy into that, but his description of American Jews who control the money and votes to manipulate Congress sounds an awful lot like Mearsheimer and Walt’s “The Israeli Lobby.” Or General Tony McPeak for that matter.
So it would be very interesting to see precisely what Khalidi said in Obama’s presence four years earlier. Was the rhetoric above the sort of language which preceded the warm words of praise from Barack Obama? The specifics matter, the context is crucial.

Obama should have known what Kahlid was going to say four years after he attended an event with him? Probably not.
I would say, that because ‘the context is crucial’, don’t skip to the 50 minute mark to find the ‘worst’ 10 second out-of-context soundbite, but watch the whole thing. However, the video is down.
The video is up, just not always avaialable.
This is hot stuff. Perhaps someone should let the Washington Post know about this. They have a scathing editorial out about how awful it is for McCain/Palin to be saying these things about Khalidi.
Check it out. Its appropriately titled An “Idiot Wind”.
Jennifer, I am nothing more than an insignificant commenter on a blog, a man with no resources to dig for information, severely limited access to source for fresh details and no immediate contacts in the media, in Hollywood, in academia or in politics.
I am nobody. Except I love my country and I love my countrymen. I recoil against having a label placed on me. I am not aligned with any party. I try to assess every issue based upon its own facts and allow it to stand or fall upon its own merits. Therefore, I often am a disappointment to the strongest…or at least loudest…voices on each side of the political spectrum. I was figuratively, in the political sense, a man without a country.
Today, I worry for the first time whether I stand in literal translation of that phrase.
For the past 40 years I have watched a slow and steady infiltration of more strident and brazen voices completely obliterate the tolerance of an opposing viewpoint. I have watched in shock and horror the steady elimination of an entire side of a debate vaporized from our traditional hallmarks of vibrant discussion of the important issues of the day.
It is beyond the point of even being coy and disingenuous that both a systematic erasure of equal voice from the entrenched media has taken root and a systemic hypoxia of one entire body of thought has taken its breath away.
In academia, one shudders at the notion that open sedition, treason and the plot of mass murder of our own countrymen is lionized and feated…and David Horowitz can’t get a speaking engagement. And when he does, he is boycotted, booed, hissed and threatened. His sin? Asking for tolerance of an opposing worldview to raging treason and the growing anti-Semitic fervor on campus.
Jennifer, I am nobody. What I say really doesn’t matter much, so why do I comment here? Because I want to feel my voice isn’t strangled. I want to believe that others feel as I do. I want to test my opinions to ensure that I have considered all evidence and weighed all variables. And…to an extent…when I appreciate a blogger’s work, I want to “engage” with them, if in only the smallest way, to show that their work has value and is reaching an audience. From my perspective, the saddest thing is to see a great piece written…and no comments inspired by it. As if a beautiful and thoughtful expression has drifted off into the darkest reaches of hyperspace…and is lost in the empty void between the stars.
I comment to support Roger Simon. I comment to support David Horowitz. I comment to support David Mamet. I comment to support Glenn Reynolds. I comment to support Scott Johnson. I comment to support Pat Frey. I comment to support Bob Owens. I comment to support Jennifer Rubin and Victor Davis Hanson and Stanley Kurtzer. I comment to support David Goldstein. I comment to support Ed Morrissey. I comment to support American Thinker and Powerline and Ace of Spades and Flopping Aces.
I comment to support all those who put in an extreme effort to keep breath in a voice that would otherwise be suffocated, strangled and trampled.
I believe that the leftist blogosphere is a redundancy. The information stream needs no voice there, so it hands it a megaphone. I believe Fox News succeeds because it captures everyone who feels left out in the cold at ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN etc. Not because they are necessarily “better”…but because they are the only thing different from the rest.
The reason leftist talk radio doesn’t gain traction, is that there is no need for the escape valve to relieve the pressure of the strangulation of the leftist worldview. Hyperpartisan rightism isn’t my cup of tea. But an opposing viewpoint to hyperpartisan leftism…is.
I will get the heart of my point now, because I don’t want to hijack the thread and apologize for using your post to unburden my chest. I am nobody. I am just one voice in a cacophony of 300 million. But I am tortured by the repeated slanders heaped upon my country and my countrymen from the airwaves, from the academic lecturns, from the Walter Duranty scribes, from the Moores and Stones in Hollywood.
I am tortured by the loss of integrity, the loss of tolerance, the loss of freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion and freedom from tyranny that permeates what used to be the hallowed ground of traditional liberalism. Every principle that stood as a bedrock of traditional liberalism has been obliterated. Hypocrisy and disgrace stand in its stead.
I am nobody. But I stand behind the effort to give voice against tyranny. To give comfort to those who are being picked on and ridiculed for not marching in lockstep. To stand against treason and to call it out for what it is. To stand with my brethren who fight against the infiltration of enemies into this land of ours. To speak what is right, to those who mean to steal liberty, freedom, fairness and respect from our land.
Cowardice asks, Is it safe? Expediency asks, Is it politic? Vanity asks, Is
it popular? but Conscience asks, Is it right?–Punshon
Lecturns=lecterns, of course.
Americans don’t get it: The good old USA is a PAWN of Israel and Palestine.
Let the Israelis and Palestinians fight themselves. Remain neutral and honest and things will resolve themselves (in another 5,000 years maybe?).
When are we going to help ourselves??
No mention that McCain steered this guy 500K?
Oh, but that’s different, right?
TO CFBLEACHERS:
Could you please re-post your comment using standard English? Or better yet, write a one sentence explanation of what your point is.
This maudlin approach to world issues gets us nowhere
(Again, I have to add, for the vocabulary-challenged: “maudlin” means sobbing or weeping. It has an interesting etymology. It comes from Mary Magdalen – you know, that grouppie of Jesus of Nazareth who “wept” for him on various occasions and who now, some believe, was actually his wife!).
The current political turmoil is no different than it has ever been. What we have now is various media outlets, including the internet, giving contemporary news a immediacy it never had before.
It’s not only mass hysteria…it’s more like histrionics.
Go back to any election time and you’ll see that they too classified their particular elections as the “most important of the century” and so on.
Trying to link Obama to Rashid Khalidi in any significant way is so preposterous as to merit not just rejection of the idea, but total silence and contempt.
Khalidi is an epigone (a disciple) of Edward Said, the late professor at Columbia University who, when push came to shove, despised is adapted country, the USA. He was a brilliant man in so many ways (I was a student of his for a course), but who was overwhelmed by his fundamental anti-westernism.
(There’s nothing new in this. America’s most dangerous and vociferous enemies are often products of western educational institutions…..I could name dozens. Here are a couple: Osama Bin Laden, Sayyid Qutb, etc.)
(That’s why I;ve always said: if you really are waging a war against “terrorism”, cut off their finances and even more important in the long run, deny them entry to western higher educational institutions. That’ll solve the problem in a jiffy. Will it be done? Especially the educational cut-off? Not a chance….at least not yet).
My point is: people are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel to discredit Obama.
The fact that I took a course once with Edward Said doesn’t make me a rabid anti-western enemy. The fact that I knew (I actually really did) members of the Black Panthers in California doesn’t mean I’m a secret admirer of their policies and so on.
The fact that Obama embraced Khalid Rashidi once or attended a speech he may have made does not make him a follower of Edward Said.
The entire argument is so childish, it deserves a good spanking and nothing more.
Perhaps Vivo, it is you who does not get it.
Americans are not pawns in a local dispute in Israel. Nor can America isolate itself from this conflict. US and much of the world economy is dependent upon oil supplied out of the Middle East. If anything America compromises its advocacy of human rights and democracy in deference to Saudi interests. Nonetheless, we would do well to be honest with ourselves. Genocidal Islamic Jihad has been going on for pretty much 1,400 years. Jihad will continue to target and aggressively threaten America whether or not we seek to appease it by abandoning a democratic Israel under that guise of neutrality.
The Islamofascists have a slogan:

Jennifer,
This is an amazing article. A compelling and new theory surfaced yesterday via Debblie Schlussel who was on the Sliwa show. She broke this story last January and gave a detailed explanation of what has transpired since then. ElectronicIntifida.net seems to be the source of the tape. Ali was at the dinner and at one point admitted he had the tape. He has been whining for over a year on his vile website about Obama’s waning (albeit temporary) solidarity with his “Palestinian” pals in Chicago. The AIPAC speech made his blood boil. This would explain his giving over the tape without permission to air it. He feels betrayed by Obama ala Jeremiah Wright but not quite betrayed enough. He’s smart enough to know Obama’s true colors will emerge once he has the election in the bag.
http://www.electronicintifada.net/
correct site
So,Alo, let me understand – if I am caught on tape cheering at a KKK rally, that really doesn’t mean anything? That what kind of a person I am, or my character, or core values , you would never make a judgement? That is precisely what you are saying. And says a lot about the warped perspective you have about truth. If the issue is out there, then it needs a rebuttal, right??
Scuzzy PLO terrorist on American soil. “we have to hammer that home every single time” (has to do with rights to Israel) Typical Arab blindness. He of course is speaking in safety and with freedom here.
He is smart. He also is blind. It we see PLO as terrorists by their behavior, he says it is only because we see Muslims as evil.
Here is the Schlussel exclusive
EXCLUSIVE: Ali Abunimah is Likely Source of Secreted Obama/Khalidi/Ayers Tape; LA Times’ Wallsten Plagiarized Schlussel Back in April, Said Politico
By Debbie Schlussel
**** UPDATE: Can Ali Abunimah be bought off for $175,000? Depends on what he’s getting from greater Arabia, Islamia, and Obama. ****
There has been much discussion throughout the Net about a secreted video showing Barack Obama at a dinner with terrorists Bill Ayers and wife Bernadine Dohrn, and the anti-Semitic Arafat advisor, Rashid Khalidi.
The Los Angeles Times has a copy of the tape, but won’t release it because they said the source–whom I believe is Arab American Action Network (AAAN) founder and anti-Israel Palestinian activist Ali Abunimah of Electronic Intifada–required it not be released as a condition of sharing it. That’s because it likely shows Obama applauding an anti-Semitic, anti-Israel poem that was read at the dinner.
But what you may not know is that I started the whole story, and Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Wallsten plagiarized me. (WND’s resident ganif Aaron Klein also ripped-off the same article in May.)
Ali Abunimah: Likely Source of Withheld Obama-Khalidi Tape
A refresher: In January, I wrote an exclusive column about Barack Obama’s Nation of Islam staffers and “evolving” positions on Israel and the Jews. In March, I was contacted in writing by Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Wallsten, who told me he read my article and wanted to report on it for the L.A. Times. I agreed, provided that he credit me and/or mention my name and site in the article, to which he agreed. We spoke on the phone at some length.
In April, Wallsten wrote the story. Portions of it were lifted from my article. But I was never credited, contrary to Wallsten’s promise. Even the Politico said Wallsten plagiarized me.
I’m almost positive that the video Wallsten referenced in the story was obtained from Arab American Action Network founder Abunimah because my article–the one Wallsten ripped off from me–featured photos of Barack Obama and wife Michelle seated with PLO advisor Edward Said at another AAAN annual banquet and led Wallsten to contact Abunimah. I noted in my article–from which Wallsten got most of his info–that the pics were from Ali Abunimah’s Electronic Intifada site, in which he wrote about Obama’s 180 on Israel from those days of AAAN dinners and PLO confabs.
I believe that Wallsten contacted Abunimah about the photos and learned of the other AAAN annual banquet dinner (at which Abunimah, Obama, Ayers, Dohrn, and Khalidi were all in attendance), and that Abunimah is his source for the video.
Here’s my e-mail to him. I’ll let you know when and if I get a response.

Subject: Press Inquiry for Ali Abunimah . . .
To: abunimah01@yahoo.com
Ali:
Did you show or provide the tape of Obama at the dinner with Rashid Khalidi to the LA Times’ Peter Wallsten? Do you have a copy of the video? Will you release it for viewing? If not, why?
Looking forward to your responses for quotation on my website.
Thanks,
Debbie Schlussel
As you probably know by now, last week, Gateway Pundit/Jim Hoft asked L.A. Times plagiarist/”reporter” Peter Wallsten whether he has the tape about which he wrote in April. I’m not sure why Jim waited until now, but I’m glad he didn’t wait until a week from now. I’m assuming he only just thought of it, unlike everyone else, I’m glad he had the instinct to look into obtaining the tape.
In any event, the L.A. Times–usually telling us about the public’s right to know–now only believes in “the public’s right to know what we want it to know and what will aid our pan-Obama-ist agenda.”
If I were major media sources, I would bug the heck out of Ali Abunimah and pressure him to release the tape because I’m quite sure he has it and that he is Wallsten’s unnamed source.
CHICAGO POLITICS:
At the 19-20 minute mark he makes a comparison about Palestinian and Chicago politics. He said he lived in Chicago for 16 years and is well aware of the Democraic shenanigans that go on, the patronage, etc.
A great 30 second advertisemet on why not to import Chicago politics to Washington.
To cfbleachers – Great comments, well said and I second them wholeheartedly.
To Alo Kievalar – I found several troubling points in your comments. First and foremost is your opening insult about grammar. That’s a well known troll-tactic, starting out with name calling. You obviously understood cfbleacher’s comments so you’re simply attempting to assert your delusion that you’re somehow better than other folks. You continue in that vein with proud comments of having known black panthers and having attended a course with Edward Said.
It is quite obvious that exposure to extremists has rubbed off on you. What on earth possessed you to expose yourself to those radical people? Why didn’t you avoid them like the plague or better yet, protest them and stand up for America? You “tolerated” their presence because on some level you agreed with their views. To say that you or anyone else would spend quality time with those people without needing to agree with their “policies and so on” is ridiculous.
I have never met a black panther or an Edward Said. If I had met such people, I would not have been quiet and I certainly would not have sat through a course or spent any time with them beyond what’s necessary to explain why I think they suck. How’s that for grammar? I hope you enjoy it.
You sir, or ma’am, are indicative of what’s wrong in America. Cfbleachers was talking about you and your pals but then you already knew that. Your defensive post is confirmation – it hit a little too close to home and you didn’t like it.
Hey Boris – I haven’t read about any McCain contributions to Khalidi, but then I don’t read Daily Kos like you do. Do you have any credible links to provide? You never provide links with your allegations, why is that? Tell Bullwinkle and Rocky I said hi.
So we see Ayers dedicated his book PRAIRIE FIRE from the 70′s to Sirhan Sirhan who killed President Kennedy and other “political prisoners as he calls them” and fugitive Days written recently is dedicated to cop killers. Of course is is not disputed that Obama has recent hugging moments with Ayers. According to ayers writings and speeches, he has not changed. His tactics have been adapted. I can see why his early book is hard to find. It is a worn out bible for career terrorists.
We’re holding an Obsession-watching pro-Israel rally in Boca Raton today. I’m going to personally hand out this article. Thank you for connecting the dots. For more info on today’s rally:

Our associations tell other about our judgement. Obamas are being hidden and that in and of itself should be enough to raise the eyebrows of any honest person not under the influence of coolaid. This is a man who could not even qualify for the low level security clearence i have and yet you want to make him POTUS? You are the one in need of spanking for you willfull blindness.
at the 39 minute mark, the guy is complaining that now and for years the Palestinian people have been ruled by Israeli generals, sergeants and corporals. Now let me see. The Arabs would never come to the bargaining table because they did not agree with the mandate. They just want to push the Jews back into the sea.
The left wing MSM and Hollywood made a lot of politicle hay claiming that Palin was not ready to be a “heart beat” away from the presidency. Now they are hiding their VP candidate under a rock. McCain and everybody who supports him needs to do everything possible to make the american public aware of this. Ths MSM sure isn’t goin to.
Ok, so if Obama attended and spoke at some event and didn’t fully know about whom he spoke, then how do you explain the republican congressmen who attended and allowed a ceremony inside a state building for the Reverend SunYung Moon, in which Moon was declared the Messiah?

It sometimes seems that 5/8 of the globe is covered by water and the other 3/8 by repulsive former playmates of Barack Obama. This garbage isn’t even fit to be a state senator much less President
I know I am preaching to (mostly) the choir here. Think of the LATimes refusing the public’s right to know this way.
The ONE Khalidi tape is known with a link to radical mooooslems, who knows WHAT ELSE and HOW MANY similar damaging evidence are out there?
IF (when) Obama is the President, he is effectively being held hostage to whoever owns those stuff. How effective can he be performing his duty? And what part of the Constitution he swears to uphold and defend is he going to comprise on?
To shed a little light on this increasingly irrational discourse here, I am shring an editorial from teh Washington Post:

WITH THE presidential campaign clock ticking down, Sen. John McCain has suddenly discovered a new boogeyman to link to Sen. Barack Obama: a sometimes controversial but widely respected Middle East scholar named Rashid Khalidi. In the past couple of days, Mr. McCain and his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, have likened Mr. Khalidi, the director of a Middle East institute at Columbia University, to neo-Nazis; called him “a PLO spokesman”; and suggested that the Los Angeles Times is hiding something sinister by refusing to release a videotape of a 2003 dinner in honor of Mr. Khalidi at which Mr. Obama spoke. Mr. McCain even threw former Weatherman Bill Ayers into the mix, suggesting that the tape might reveal that Mr. Ayers — a terrorist-turned-professor who also has been an Obama acquaintance — was at the dinner.
For the record, Mr. Khalidi is an American born in New York who graduated from Yale a couple of years after George W. Bush. For much of his long academic career, he taught at the University of Chicago, where he and his wife became friends with Barack and Michelle Obama. In the early 1990s, he worked as an adviser to the Palestinian delegation at peace talks in Madrid and Washington sponsored by the first Bush administration. We don’t agree with a lot of what Mr. Khalidi has had to say about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict over the years, and Mr. Obama has made clear that he doesn’t, either. But to compare the professor to neo-Nazis — or even to Mr. Ayers — is a vile smear.
Perhaps unsurprising for a member of academia, Mr. Khalidi holds complex views. In an article published this year in the Nation magazine, he scathingly denounced Israeli practices in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and U.S. Middle East policy but also condemned Palestinians for failing to embrace a nonviolent strategy. He said that the two-state solution favored by the Bush administration (and Mr. Obama) was “deeply flawed” but conceded there were also “flaws in the alternatives.” Listening to Mr. Khalidi can be challenging — as Mr. Obama put it in the dinner toast recorded on the 2003 tape and reported by the Times in a detailed account of the event last April, he “offers constant reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases.”
It’s fair to question why Mr. Obama felt as comfortable as he apparently did during his Chicago days in the company of men whose views diverge sharply from what the presidential candidate espouses. Our sense is that Mr. Obama is a man of considerable intellectual curiosity who can hear out a smart, if militant, advocate for the Palestinians without compromising his own position. To suggest, as Mr. McCain has, that there is something reprehensible about associating with Mr. Khalidi is itself condemnable — especially during a campaign in which Arab ancestry has been the subject of insults. To further argue that the Times, which obtained the tape from a source in exchange for a promise not to publicly release it, is trying to hide something is simply ludicrous, as Mr. McCain surely knows.
Which reminds us: We did ask Mr. Khalidi whether he wanted to respond to the campaign charges against him. He answered, via e-mail, that “I will stick to my policy of letting this idiot wind blow over.” That’s good advice for anyone still listening to the McCain campaign’s increasingly reckless ad hominem attacks. Sadly, that wind is likely to keep blowing for four more days.
BO never heard a Rev. Wright anti-American rant? BO attended his “church” for 20 years….that’s a 1000 Sundays of opportunity.
BO is a liar.
An ugly incident— where are the moderate muslims to register outrage??

My point is: people are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel to discredit Obama.
Could you please re-post your comment using standard English? Or better yet, write a one sentence explanation of what your point is.
I’m not quite sure that my “standard English” and yours align very well. But thank you for requesting a one line response to your 25 line lecture in arrogance. Most narcissists wouldn’t allow for even the 25:1 ratio.
Perhaps I was too subtle for you and for that I apologize. Traditional liberalism contained within it once, a compassion for people, a foundation of integrity, a desire for truth, a tolerance for diversity of thought, religion, speech and assembly. Traditional liberalism has been denigrated at the altar of leftist peer pressure and hegemony. It has been devoured by a sour beast, which spews intolerance, venom and hate into the air with every breath.
By your post, you suffer from the dual disease of venom and arrogance. I know nothing of the cause of the former and I see nothing for the cause of the latter.
And perhaps the point of Rashid Khalidi and his dinners with his wife Mona at their home with the Obamas, his toast to his dear friend and the importance of the tape escapes your singularly narrow logic. Senator Obama can choose anyone he likes to embrace. He can choose any worldview he wants. For it is not the holding of the view that matters most, but rather the honest disclosing of it.
Taking a class from Edward Said and absorbing his worldview for expansion of philosophical thought is not the issue. However, in openly discussing the merits of that worldview would certainly unveil one’s own…even if there was an attempt to keep “hidden” certain beliefs.
For instance, in your own diatribe…you used the word “groupie” (please note the correct spelling) when speaking of Jesus.
You also spoke of Said despising his adopted country. (please note that we prounounce the “h” here, and it is grammatically “adopted” not “adapted”. I know you would appreciate the lessons, since they were of such importance to you since you were so inspired to “educate” the rest of us)
You also said that people were “scrapping” the bottom of the barrel to discredit Senator Obama. Not sure how that applies to my post…however, I would be content to scrap the whole barrel, if it continues to contain lies, half-truths, distortions and other bastardizations of the facts upon which we need to rely to self-govern this land of ours.
For your edification, the term, in Standard English…is “scraping” the bottom of the barrel. And nobody is doing any such thing, certainly not Jennifer.
The hiding of the tape, the secretion of the evidence …AFTER…publishing an article on the event…is tantamount to fraud. You see, our information stream in this country is not granted license by us to pick and choose which facts and news they wish to deliver, while concealing, disregarding, secreting, and distorting the rest. The story is bigger than that celebration of a warped worldview which Senator Obama attended and acted as a speaker/participant.
Again, the point may too subtle for some. The truth is what is being trampled here. And the delicate sensibilities of Senator Obama’s apologists are of little consequence in the quest for it. Removing the shroud of a coverup, unveiling the corruption in our information stream, and gaining back integrity trump the hyperpartisan screeching about “guilt by association”. Your logic was dim, your deductive reasoning absent and your ethics unobservable. Shelve your arrogance until the day comes when you have a dust mite’s chance of deserving it.
Out of curiosity, is Khalidi a member of the famous and powerful Khalidi family of formerly-Ottoman Palestine? I remember a book I read, Jerusalem 1913, one of whose central characters is the head of the Khalidi family who essentially acts as governor/sheik for the Arabs as Ottoman authority dissolves and then devolves into the Arab-Jew squabbling that is still with us.
I ask because I found that Mossadeq was actually the scion of the Qajari family who ruled Persia from the late 18th century onward – and who had been removed from power by the 1925 coup that installed the Pehlavi family and the constitutional Majlis. Sort of undermines the claim that Mossadeq was some sort of democrat; he more likely simply intended to concentrate the government in his hands, reverse the coup and its innovations, and declare the restoration of the Qajari dynasty with Russian help.
Anyway, anyone know if Khalidi is from those same Khalidis? Seems likely to me.
Keating, Volger, G. Gordon Liddy… but keep buying into McCain’s b.s. by all means.
For more hate speech and imagery …. http://www.thereligionofpeace.com ….enough said. Why does the Obama attract people like this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7Dm8a3CXkE&eurl=http://mccombover.wordpress.com/
Khalidi, a new angle.
Pajamas media should have been all over this story 6 months ago. You call yourselves alternative media but you are as lazy as the MSM. Even if this story reaches the MSM by tonight, ( uproarious laughter here ) your typical uninterested, uninformed, and undecided voter won’t even be aware of it on election day.
By the way, the MSM is being whipped into shape as we speak. Newspapers that endorsed McCain are now being denied access to Obama.
What a catastrophe. At least, I still believe that our country can survive the worst from its politicians.
Is there anybody honorable in Obama’s background at all?
It seems he surrounds himself exclusively with slugs, thugs, and America haters.
If this Khalidi guy is so terrible to be associated with, why did McCain give this guy $500,000 for a research grant?
I guarantee you that spotlighting this LA-Times story isn’t McCain’s idea because McCain’s ties to him are equally damning. But keep on with the “guilt by association” tactic while ignoring Keating, Volger, Liddy and the rest. These distractions are obviously working….
Whitey,
Anybody can get mixed up with a bad apple, but when ALL the associations are ALL bad apples one would have to be a fool to dismiss it.
Personal attacks. What has this country come to.As a very independent voter the only thing that has swung our household’s vote in this election is the economy. Let’s talk about the economy that’s what the people care about. This stuff is just the usual desperate politics of a losing party. Maybe and hopefully these vile, rude aggressive right wingers will learn that we are no longer going to be governed by fear. Simple let’s get back to the prosperity we enjoyed in the Clinton years. Let’s have something to show for this mountain of debt that these right wing finaticals have heaped us under. WE WILL NOT FALL FOR THIS AGAIN.
Does no one care that Mcain gave over $800,000 TO BILL AYERS AND RASHID kALIDI ? Blind faith is an embarassing way to walk through life!!!
Ive’ got a headache and Im’ sick to my stomach about the possibilities that a community activist associated with anti-America could become President of this country, the country I fought for! NOW all of you anti-Obamas be sure to get out the vote. I dont want to put my USA flag at half mast for the next four years.
RE(tarded):
All? Give me a break. You’ve got 3 negative associations, Ayers, Rezco and his pastor. Khalidi would be 4th. That’s hardly everybody he knows.
Anybody can get mixed up with a bad apple? Are you joking? So Obama goes to a dinner where the guy speaks and that deserves your attention, but McCain giving the guy half million is being “mixed” up with a bad apple?
How about this, the republican party is so desperate to find another bogeyman they decide they hastly jumped on this without realizing McCain’s ties to this man is much deeper than Obamas and it back fired.
Khalidi is an American scholar. He was born here, went to US universities and has lived a successful life. He’s critical of Israel, so what? as cfbleachers stated, why is it such a crime to have a differing view point?
U.S. born Khalidi has NEVER in public or print, called for the destruction of Israel.
He doesn’t believe in kissing Israel’s behind…
He has stated that Palestinians have a right to resist Israeli occupation. The controversy here is the term “occupation”. This implies that Israel is in an area (by force) where they not wanted. As opposed to being embraced with open arms by the locals.
Sound familiar pitch-fork villagers?
If this guy is so bad why did McCain funnel $500,000 to him? That is McCain’s problem with bringing Khalidi up. McCain supported him with money and yet he seems to want everyone to ignore that fact. Why should McCain get a pass for sending this guy $500,000? If this guy is so bad why did McCain and a group of republicans financially support him? Things that make you go hmmmmm.
McCain contributed money to Kalidi. Where’s the outrage? Another Republican example of the blind leading the blind.
Since McCain is cutting ALL earmarks how does he explain
this to the Israel lobby since our billion dollars of support to them is considered and earmark?
lets talk about bill clintons economy .he had both a republican senate and congress majority ,they were running things, the president does not even have a vote- now we for the last 2 years have had a democrat majority in both congress and senate and look how far down we have fell. to get the real obama views read his 2 books . they will show you where he stands on many things and you will find his views are very similar to rev wrights.his word not mine.in audacity of hope he states i will stand with the the muslims should the political winds shift in a ugly direction. nuff said.
Here we go again. For all the people who seem to be so outraged about Barack Obama’s “association” with Rashid Khalidi, does it also concern you that John McCain, when he served as the chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), “distributed” several grants to Khalidi’s Center for Palestine Research and Studies. One of the grants was close to a half million dollars. The IRI also sometimes helps specific politicians. It gave campaign training to Serbian President Boris Tadic in 2004 and the late Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski during and after his 1999 presidential race. It worked with Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin and the ruling Communist Party. So does that mean McCain is a communist? Let’s get real people.
Why isn’t anyone asking why John McCain gave this same Rashid Khalidi $500,000 in grant money in 1996 for some Palestinian research group Khalidi put together. That’s a whole helluva lot of money to give to an individual you say you didn’t know? And McCain’s relationship with Khalidi goes back to 1993. Why is that being covered up?
As a long time Bible Scholar….prophecy (which has always come true on God’s timetable) says that England and America will ALWAYS stand with Israel. GOd’s Word forever settled in Heaven is true. His track recond on prophecy is 100 percent. Start with Hosea.
In the end times Russia will join with Turkey and a reconstituted Germany against Israel (and its 2 allies).
Yes country is mentioned in the Bible.
Guess who will always win!
So Sarge, lemme guess, you were ok voting for a guy that was AWOL from the Texas National Guard?
Hypocrite – corporate christian.
Those stupidly claiming all Obama’s contacts are bad apples may want to look a little closer at McCain’s associates. McCain’s new father in law was a convicted felon. McCain met with a suspected Russian Mobster in 2006. Cindy is an admitted theif and drug addict. Keating, Liddy, Raffaello Follieri, Joseph “Joe Bananas” Bonano. Seems he has a good numbr of bad apples in his associations.
The attacks that some so-called Republicans make against the LA Times, ABC, CBS, and NBC is a canard.
Who owns the LA Times, ABC, CBS, and NBC?
REPUBLICANS.
I met a Communist when in the United States Army, he was also in the Army. Does that mean everyone in the Army has a communist background?
How utterly silly.
this is also the same guy mccain gave half a million dollars to. which might be a reason why the mccain campaign hasnt been hammering away at this issue in their rallys
Wow,
90% of the posts from the last half hour are from Obama lemmings saying the exact same thing. There must have been a gang-troll mandate just ordered from the mothership.
Sven, they’re ACORN nuts. They’re getting paid (peanuts) to litter the blogosphere. Next week, they’re collect their paychecks for the past two months, and go buy a wii game.
Since everyone is focused on past information about Obama, lets focus on McCain’s past as well. For example, McCain is not with his first wife, McCain voted 90% of the time in favor of Bush, McCain gave about $500,000 to this PLO person that you say has ties to Obama, McCain says Obama is not a socialist on Larry King Live but has Palin telling America that he is, McCain poor judgment in the choice of Palin for Vice President, McCain choice of a person that thinks he is a plummer, and McCain’s experience.
If you examine this information closely, you can determine that McCain is not the best choice for this office. The only reason his is still in the race is because many Americans do not want to vote for a qualified black man. Race is always an issue and people need to focus on character and not the pigmentation of a person’s skin.
The Republicans and the MSM especially, Fox (balanced and fair) act as though they are the terroists in regards to tolerance and respect of all people.
Especially, Hannity. HIs number 1 worry is that his own pocketbook will suffer. I have never seen such self-serving news media. I ONCE was a Republican, but I would never support anyone that Hannity supports. Has he not learned anything yet? One after another “guilt by association” keeps being disected by Hannity and company, but it has backfired.
Do they really think that the public is so dumb that we would think being around “persons of suspect” is the most damaging thing about someone? When you compare associating to the actual financing of these “persons of suspect” most reasonable people would conclude that the financing of a questionable person or activist is much worse.
And how did being in prison for five years make McCain a better leader? What qualifications did he gain other than how to be a good prisoner. Sure, he was honorable by refusing to be released earlier than some who were captured before him, but most people are honorable. Any person with integrity would do that. His integrity was impeccable then.
But now, Fox and company have brought out so much cotton candy against Obama that it has made people delve into McCain’s history. And then you see that he is certainly not a virgin when it comes to questionalbe conduct and associations:
Cheated on first wife while she was recovering from a serious accident with more than one woman
Had his marriage license for Cindy (the money was such an incentive) before he got his divorce
Financed his senatorial start with money from Keating
Involved in the Keating five and rebuked by the Congress
Volger
Liddy
And now, thanks to MSM, we know about his paying for Khalidi’s activism efforts.
Talk to my hand. My fingers are voting for Obama.
This lead from the nCorner at teh National Review on line:
” the International Republican Institute, while McCain was chairing it (which he apparently still does), gave goo-gobs of money to a Rashid Khalidi founded Center for Palestine Research and Studies — specifically, $448K, which would be about six times what Khalidi’s Arab American Action Network got from the Woods Fund under Ayers/Obama.
Why can’t someone be sympathetic to the Palestinian humanitarian crisis without being labeled anti-semitic or “extreme?”
As an American we all should be concerned of the blind support of Israel and its brutal tactics. What Israel does in targeting Muslims is no different than why we needed Saddam Hussein out of Iraq and his deplorable treatment of his own people. I am not saying Israel does not have a right to defend its soil and people, but they should show the same restraint the US military shows in dealing with unarmed opposition. As Americans, it is our right to question our government and to demand that they implore Israel to treat all people, especially innocent civilians, with respect. No one condemns Israel for the same acts of civilian brutality we are so adamantly against when they are perpetrated by Muslim fanatics. We simply cannot idly allow this double-standard in thinking. We can still support Israel even with denouncing the brutal and somewhat careless tactics they use.
Addendum to previous comment: Khalidi is merely stating this fact in his speeches. He is not spouting hateful rhetoric but merely theorizing reasons why the unrest is perpetuated.
McCain has significant financial ties also to this man, who evidently is a respected scholar. The McCain financial ties are hundreds of thousands of dollars for pro democracy efforts. The strident, black and white mud-slinger is Palin.
I was interested in reading an “educated” point of view, as opposed to that of Joe the Plumber. Boy, was I disappointed. For those Republicans who may not remember (amnesia is a frequent malady for you), the Bush and BinLaden family have had close ties for many years, including 911. Does someone have a credible explaination for Geroge the first flying this family to safety after 911? You cannot have it both ways.
The issue here is not really Barack Obama, but what your candidate is really lacking. Here is a man who claims to “know how”, but has yet to “explain how” he will be President. What he does best is scavenge through rubble to find the dirtiest of dirt and turn it to mud.
It is okay to “fund” this man Khalidi but not to break bread with him? Which holds more importance? What a joke! I for one am much more concerned that a pompous, cranky elderly man could hold the fate of the country and the world in his erratic, elderly hands!
McCain gave almost half a million dollars to this guy. AYERS also gave money to this guy.
Obviously McCAin and Ayers are in cahoots. In bed together. Well maybe niot in bed together that would be gross.
Really gross. But who wants to vote for another Republican anyway. Every GOP president ends up with a recession in each term.
You guys ought to be more careful when you try to smear Obama. McCain gave Khalidi WAY more money than Obama ever did. $480,000 to be exact. But, thanks for digging up more dirt on McCain for me to use as evidence to convince my “swing voter” friends, as if I needed it
why don’t all of you people just chill out and come to grips with the reality that Mr. Obama will be our next president for one simple yet very good reason (George W. Bush) and try to understand that if Mcain had chose someone a little more qualified then my little sister to be vice-president he may have still had a chance at this point, but probably not regardless!!!
obama fans here are being disingenuous about what “associate” means in each case. khalidi has been among the most vehement postcolonialist writers in the country for many years; he is significant because he is one more of the most elite of the country’s radicals with whom obama is associated.
look, let’s get real: first of all, obama is not “postpartisan.” he is “postBush.” second of all, it’s hardly conceivable that mccain agrees with khalidi or ayers – we know this because of his long public record. with obama, the only public record we have is straight Left. he argues he’s post-partisan; his record and his associations say the opposite.
basically, obama is lying to you. he inveighs against wealth; he spends $650 million to get elected. one minute he’s post-partisan; in the very next sentence he’s wailing about bush. he starts out being the most anti-war candidate; now he’s making promises about a muscular defense and a surge in afghanistan to get bin laden. in fact he’s making tons of promises: he will, basically, do everything.
the khalidi association – not damning by itself – is far more intimate than mccain’s (as if this weren’t obvious) and is significant because it’s just one more association contradicting the post-partisan, meta-partisan, “only republicans/the right has an extremist base” theme that is supposed to be the ultimate reason for electing him president.
why all this lying? mccain may be a RINO in many respects, and that may offend some people, but he isn’t a liar.
Talk to my hand too, because my finger touched the “Barack Obama” for President 1 month ago..Only people with hatred in there heart believes this crap…Now’s let’s talk about McCain giving him over $400,000 dollars..Umm.
OBAMA/ Biden 2008
McCain = McBush!
TO: Alo Kievalar
You sir are an imbecile. The LA Times would not even hire you!
if this witch hunt continues by zionist out to get obama next time a jewish poltician is out to get votes i will tell all my black friends to tell him/her to get lost
The mass production of millions of blogs giving voice to human concerns at any given moment give us pause to consider the lack of absolute justice consuming mankind. Let us assess the fairness of statements on our airwaves….the fact is countless innocent lives have been lost collectively from Israel to Palestine, from US to Africa, Europe, and encompassing all faiths and races….and still a deeper vacuum without fairness…a lack of ABSOLUTE Justice. Our hope is only this well known motto “Love for all, Hatred for none”, adopted by the peaceloving WorldWide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, giving hope to all mankind. God bless America, have mercy on her people.
someone75 = astroturf troll #5,374
McCain has contributed $480 , 000 thousand dollars to Khalidi, so why can’t the media or Jennifer Rubin discuss that? It is so unfair how they treat the black man that is trying to do right for his country…. And oh, what about G. Liddy too!!!
White Supporter for Obama!
DID THEY FORGET AGAIN….IF YOU ARE PINNING THIS AGAINST OBAMA….THEN MCCAIN IS GUILTY TOO. MCCAIN DONATED THIS GUY $458,000.00 FOR SOME RESEARCH WORK……….SO ONCE AGAIN MCCAIN IS TRYING TO USE SOMETHING ON OBAMA, THAT HE IS GUILTY OFF! IF OBAMA IS GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION, SO IS MCCAIN! AMERICA WAKE UP, THIS GUY MCCAIN IS A WACKO!
MCCAIN GAVE THIS GUY $480,000.00! BUT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT THAT…RIGHT?
Remember GOD don’t like Ugly…So McCain you are acting ugly..These things will come back and bite him in the @ss if he continues spreading this hatred at his rallies…Shame on the Republicians..Shame on some ppl that are actually voting for these scumbags this year!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2008!
ALL OF YOU FOLKS MAKING THE COMMENTS ON THIS, YOU WILL LOOK LIKE MCCAINS PEOPLE DID ON FOX, MSNBC, CNN AND ALL THE OTHER NETWORKS, STUPID, WHEN THE ASK YOU WHAT’S DIFFERENT THAN OBAMA GOING TO A PARTY THAT THIS GUY WAS AT, AND MCCAIN DONATING HIM $480,000.00? DO ANY OF YOU MCCAIN SUPPORTERS HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT THAT?
Whites for Obama–Independents for Obama–African Americans for Obama–Veterans for Obama–Republicians for Obama–Jennifer Rubin for Obama–Christians for Obama–Unity for Obama–Equality for Obama–Change WE CAN BELIEVE IN!
“Art of War”
Might as well play devils advocate here since this seems to be the repugs “October surprise”.. is it such a far stretch to think that maybe our Harvard Graduate, (#1 in his class) Obama, is actually just learning (I know that word scares most of the religious right/gop/mccain/palin)? But stick with me here my little red sheep…
Maybe he is learning (and listening to) as many views and opinions as he possibly can in order to understand the deeper issues that are causing so many problems across the world instead of the last 8 years answer of “SEND EM BACK TO HELL” from our friend(S) Bush AND McCain (everyone likes to forget McCains 90% agreement in voting for Bush over his presidency).
The bottom line is that Obama is NOT a terrorist like Palin and McCain seem to want to convince everyone of.. Just because he is different [black]doesnt mean he should be hanged (per the red rallies). Have we [USA] reverted to back before civil and equal rights? Have an open mind people.
Just a thought.
Isn’t it amazing that nothing has been said from either parties on immigration which costs a hundred million dollars a year. Nothing about crime which costs two hundred million a year. This has severly put a cramp on Californias budget. The reason being is that it equates to the black and latino vote. The government in order to benefit everybody is to load up all the gangs and criminals and ship them to an island and let them fend for themselves. Obama would be left with no friends.
I might be inclined to agree about Rev Wright expect one problem. What really surprises me about the whole Rev Wright argument is why I keep seeing the same tape over and over again if there is so much proof (and I mean visual proof) that Obama heard this kind of thing for twenty years. Surely, the networks can come up with different material if it continually happened on each and every Sunday he attended the church. I attend church regularly and other than when it’s time to give tithes and offering, I don’t hear much of the same thing from Sunday to Sunday.
to dan re:
“why all this lying? mccain may be a RINO in many respects, and that may offend some people, but he isn’t a liar.”
are you f’ing kidding me? isn’t a liar? that had to be a typo.. have you heard anything that his man has said? every policy is a lie. he supports EVERYTHING that Bush has done, yet says (in every speach) how he is this maverick that goes against the grain.. its ALL A LIE. wake up and pull your head out of the ground.
And dont even get me started on his anti-crist running mate.. she is such a hypocrit it literally makes me sick looking at her. has anyone actually heard the anti-christian, anti-american crap that comes from her mouth? if she was brown and had a beard all of you repugs would be torturing her at gitmo.
I guess to some ignorance is bliss…
First, I will admit that I have not watched the entire video at this time due to time constraints. But, as you suggested I watched from the 55 min point to the end.
I saw nothing in that section of the video that was objectionable or for that matter wrong. I am not an expert on Palestinian – Israeli relations and I would not begin to offer an suggestions as how to deal with the ongoing struggle. What did he say that causes people any concern? Certainly he approaches this issue from the Palestinian perspective but what he said has already been said by many centrist and reasonable people who know far more about the issue than I do.
How in any way this shows badly on Obama is beyond me.
Get reasonable folks.
In addition to all the above, no one seems to remember that McCain picked a person whose husband supported (maybe still supports) Alaska secession from the USA. A real “Country First” type of person.
The military is very much a “Navy Family” type organization. McCain’s father and grandfather were both Admirals. There is a belief that John McCain was very incompetent in the Navy to the point of officers wishing they could get him out of the Navy. I do not know if that is true since I have never asked any Navy personnel, active or retired, but heard it from their significant others and friends. It certainly is plausible. If McCain did not have this link to power, it is just possible that he would have been run out of the Navy. As it stands, it would have been professional suicide for any Navy officer to say anything against McCain or the tradition of “Navy Families”.
This does not diminish his major feat of surviving a prisoner of war camp, as did many other of our military folks. There was even a TV news interview of the former commandant of the POW camp. The commandant endorsed McCain, saying something such as; If I were an American, I would want McCain as president. That interview has not resurfaced since its initial airing.
Those additional associations are interesting, especially the commandant. The family one is just life in a nepotistic organization and to be expected. The secessionist association is just another example of lack of judgment that he decries in others.
A majority of Israelis and Palestinians want a two state solution. A majority of Palestinians want to return to the 1967 borders. To be pro peace or “Palestine” is not anti Israeli.
Why are we afraid to aknowledge that Palestinian civilians are being killed hundreds to 1?…I have seen as high as 400-1. Gaza has been described as the largest prison in the world, a massive humanitarian crisis.
None of this was discussed during the debates, nor will it be during Obama’s presidency.
Sad
Washington, DC – “Questions have arisen regarding the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) work with Palestinians in the 1990s.
“In the 1990s, IRI gave grants to the Center for Palestinian Research and Studies (CPRS) for polling in the West Bank/Gaza. The polls measured support for the peace process, for various Palestinian political groups, and for efforts to enhance governance in the West Bank/Gaza. At that time no other organization could credibly conduct polling in the West Bank/Gaza.
“We understand that Rashid Khalidi was one of the many founders of CPRS, and we understand that he was for some (unclear) amount of time a board member. IRI did not in the 1990s conduct background checks of grantees’ founders or board members. IRI did on a number of occasions vet CPRS as an organization, including, as was our custom, with the Israeli government, and we were given no cause for concern.
“We do not recall any contact between Mr. Khalidi and IRI, and there is no evidence that Mr. Khalidi benefited in any way from IRI’s grants.
“Other organizations that reportedly gave funding to CPRS include the National Endowment for Democracy, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Center for International Private Enterprise, the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations, the Japanese Embassy, and Germany’s Friedrich Naumann Stiftung.
“IRI’s relationship with CPRS ended in 2000, and we understand that it no longer exists.”
This man sounds dangerous! We should definitely vote against the man who gave him a $500,000 grant. Which candidate was that? Oh, right. John McCain.
Alo makes a good point. Most of what I hear and read is white noise. But I would like to Know a quantifiable accomplishment from this candidate. Isn’t that what resumes and interviews are for?
Everything I hear from Obama amounts to motivational speaking…and don’t cite the number 1 in his class argument. To me that only shows that he is clever and knew precisely what he needed to do to get the grade…that ain’t so hard if you play the game. And clearly he knows how to play the game.
More of Mc Cains shadows and mirrors to trick you into believing lies.McCain also endorsed Kahildi, That’s right, John (BS) McCain endorsed and supported more than $500,000.00 dollars to support Rashid in his work. What A scam McCain is pulling on all of us…Listen, please, John McCain supports WAR, John McCain’s name was on the letter head of the organisation that supported the Contras in C.A., McCain supported the war, invasion of Iraq, and supported the troop surge as well, EVEN after knowing how the Bush administration lied and mislead congress and The Senate, McCain supports WAR period. John McCain has an earned reputation of temper tantrums and quick decisions to attack.
Supporting John and Sarah could be pushing a button to start a Nuclear WAR. Please support the Changes we need in Washington, VOTE FOR Barack Obama.
Please check Sarah Palins threats to the environment in our last natural frontier’s of northern Alaska, please listen to her own people who most of do not support her to be a Vice Presdent, because of her lack of ethics and her history of manipulating and droping people who paved her way.
Vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden Experience and vision.
Campesino, Ricardo
Mike
You are more than right about McCains military “issues.” He crashed something like 5 or 6 planes while in the Navy.. He would of been discharged FOR SURE if it wasnt for his family pull..
That said. I am NOT in anyway taking away from his horrible experience in a war camp.. But as Bill Maher said perfectly “Isnt there a statute of limitations here?” I mean it was over 30 years ago.. The man just isnt in touch with reality in 2008. We cant have some angry grandpa going around cursing at foreign diplomats and dropping the CEE U NEXT TUESDAY fruedian slip.. its just embarassing.
Thus spake Captain Obvious.
TO: CFBELCHER….I mean BLEACHER, sorry.
“Traditional liberalism contained within it once, a compassion for people, a foundation of integrity, a desire for truth, a tolerance for diversity of thought, religion, speech and assembly. Traditional liberalism has been denigrated at the altar of leftist peer pressure and hegemony. It has been devoured by a sour beast, which spews intolerance, venom and hate into the air with every breath.”
—-> First of all, thank you for pointing out my ‘typos’, more the purview of a kindergarten teacher I should think, but perhaps you are indeed a member of that august group of scholars. (Nothing wrong with that, I might add, tho I can’t suppress snicker).
I aksed you (I mean, asked you) to summarize your original absurd posting where you insisted on saying you are a nobody, a aort of voice bleating in the desert of self-imolating isolation.
You couldn’t do it. Instead, we were subjected to another verbal onslaught where your thoughts get muddled with your self-imposed ignonimity. The example of your writing at the top of this posting is an example of this.
(They say that writing is only a “reflection” of the mind…of what one is really thinking and so on. If that’s true, it’s frightening to imagine what really goes on in your mind. It must be a tsunami of….of….I don’t know what).
Have it your way.
All of my points remain valid. Not you nor any other poster seeking to punch holes in what I said originally has been successful…not even close.
Therefore, I have nothing else to add.
This is not the United States of Israel. This is the United States of America. The Israeli government is as much a terrorist orginization as the PLO. We should end all support to them unless they actually want to live in peace with their neighbors. Their thousands of illegal cluster bombs left to maim and kill children in Lebanon shows just how ruthless they are. Its time to end our misguided support.
to ALO Kievalar– one point, just because you knew, members of the Black Panthers, or took a course w/ Edward Said, your right however you silly person are not running for the President of the United States, so really who should care??
Mohammed H. Prophet, will you cut the taqiyya, Achmed?
Thanks Eric#91 for your input. Jews and Muslims the world over crave peace but NOT at the expense of the other…sure the palestinians are killed at higher proportional rates but it is only the fanatic clerics of faiths that pursue the violence… NOT the good mainstream followers of Judaism or Islam. Absolute Justice will spawn Absolute Peace. From amongst themselves they must root out their own extremeists, Jews, Muslims, Christians etc. External powers cannot rid the internal conflicts but may lead with fairness and Absolute Justice, Impartiallity.
Are you serious? Anyone who questions the policies of Isreal is a terrorist. Those who settle in the west bank are the real terrorist.
to Leslie
that was quite possibly the poorest written “point” i have ever seen. i think you should throw a few more comma’s in there to see if you’RE point is clearer.
let me guess? Palin/McCain supporter?
McCain didn’t give him the money: he was a member of a group that did. McCain didn’t hug him, go to dinner with him, or look to him for ideas. McCain wasn’t at a dinner with him and Bernadine Dorn (who anyone from the 70′s remembers). I’d starve for a week before sitting at a table with Bernadine Dorn.
Jeez, is there anyone who hates America that Obama hasn’t gone to dinner with? (Oh wait–I better be careful–someone might pull my records to see if I owe child support; or if I have delinquent taxes…or kick me off a plane…
What is interesting to me and I am not the most educated person on Israel.
Can someone tell me if the USA and Israel both have acted honorably and with ethical behavior in its actions in the region?
It appears people are saying in these articles that all of the Palestinians actions are not just and that they are completely wrong in all they do and say.
Mind you I do not know the facts so where can I get an honest view of the American, Israel and Palestinians position.
Also I would assume this is and evolving situation and positions.
Any honest and truthful assessment would be greatly appreciated.
Why is America so obsessed with “terrorists”, these harmless illiterates in another part of the world. 911? Please don’t mention that miniscule tragedy, by comparison, to the massive tragedies that have occurred around the world throughout history. One million dead Iraqis since George Bush’s Iraqi war crime. Five million exiled and homeless. No problem there. It’s about the American people. And don’t forget that Americans kill more Americans every year with their ridiculous gun rights.Backward and barbaric society. Elect John McCain please, for he will accelerate the implosion and destruction of America that is going to happen anyway.Only faster.
Oh no! John McCain was Chairman of the IRI, which paid CPRS to do polling in Palistine! Damn them for not vetting Khalidi, who sat on the board of CPRS. Any organization wanting to do business with Palistinians should assume PLO and terrorist connections and do background checks!
But hiring a contractor isn’t quite like repeated personal interactions with domestic terrorist Billy “police escort” Ayers. Nor is it on any level like 20 years in a racist church–read Cones on Black Liberation Theology if you’re wondering what the services must have been like for twenty-years.
Let’s have a look at the LA Times video and see what the difference is between an institution McCain chaired hiring a polling agent and Obama sitting in a room with Ayers, Dorhn, Khalidi, and Abudayyeh listening to Palistinian, anti-semitic poetry. But we can’t can we, because all the left has to do is poke around for information and magically it’s not hidden by the LA Times. What a treat for you progressives. Spin progressives. Spin!
I really don’t see what the big deal is. Khalidi said nothing wrong here. Maybe it hurts some people’s sensitivies viz a viz there favorite nation. Some people have dual loyalties (and that’s actually be generous)…
By the way, aren’t Israeli policies in Palestine similar to apartheid? Perhaps we should give Rashid Khalidi some credit for having the courage to actually call things like they are.
I will not – with my vote – procure for Obama what our government won’t.
A security clearance.
I really don’t see what the big deal is. Khalidi said nothing wrong here. Maybe it hurts some people’s sensitivies viz a viz there favorite nation. Some people have dual loyalties (and that’s actually being generous)…
johnybgood#99….you are right in that we are not the US of Israel but the US of America…however, those of Jewish faith have made great contributions to US society as have Muslims, despite their actions “back home”. Let us condemn wrong as wrong despite our ties …you have now illustrated what I mean by “Absolute Justice”…even if the verdicts may not be in our favor, in the sight of God the followers of justice will find His Favor, regardless of religion. There is No Monopoloy on Truth or on God…it is only Absolute Justice that identifies Him.
I am afraid America will wake up too late! Obama Is hiding his real feelings about Israel and the Christians of America. ( Obama has already stated that Pennsylvanians are racists, because they hang on to their Guns and religion.) Pennsylvanians how could you vote for a man who has said this about you and your state. Is padding your pocket that important that integrity and character means absolutely nothing anymore. The Bible states that the love of money is the root of all evil. It seems that money has became more important than christian morals and integrity. I am talking to everyone voting this year, How can you feel comfortable voting for a man who has all these radical relations. ( These relationships are legit, and Obama has constantly lied about his relationships. Obama lied about public fund raising as well. Remember when there was a time when you were as good as your word. If Obama is as good as his word, then his word means absolutely nothing, because he has been caught in lie after lie. All 52 states please wake up and see this Radical extremist Obama , for who he really is before it is too late, and he brings socialism, radical relations, and he destroys our relationship with Israel. Michelle Obama has stated just this year that she does not like America, and that America is a mean country, (HELLO) And we want her as our first Lady. Obama does not like Israel, Christians, or any one who holds a conservative religious view. I plead with the american people, please wake up before we lose our freedom to socialism and islamic radicalism, because Obama is pro Islam, wether he admits it or not. ( study Obama out and you will find out that Obama is a liar, radical, Islamic Extremist, friend to Palestine, and An anti view concerning the Real churches of America. Respectfully, not to nit-pick, but it was Senator Bobby Kennedy. JFK was struck down by Lee Harvey Oswald, Oliver Stone’s movie and the doubters of teh Warren Commission report notwithstanding.
96: slamming McCain for crashing planes while he was in the Navy is too much.
Are you going to slam JFK for getting his PT Boat rammed by an enemy ship in WWII? Or running his PT boat into a dry dock? With the utmost respect, you haven’t the faintest experience to comment on anything significant: go home and read PEOPLE magazine.
I once knew a drug dealer, even befriended a drug dealer…didn’t agree with what he was doing, but still, walked in love because that’s what I’m supposed to do as a Christian…but after reading these comments, I guess I’m a drug dealer….someone please call the cops!
*How Racism Works:
What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What
if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said ‘I do’ to? What
if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer
measured up to his standards?
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain
killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama were a member of the Keating-5? What if McCain were a
charismatic, eloquent speaker?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election
numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive
qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when
there is a color difference.
You are The Boss. Which team would you hire with America facing historic
debt, 2 wars, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison
population, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc.?
Educational Background:
Obama:
Columbia University – B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in
International Relations.
Harvard – Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude
Biden:
University of Delaware – B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science.
Syracuse University College of Law – Juris Doctor (J.D.)
vs.
McCain: United States Naval Academy – Class rank: 894 of 899 (Factor in the
probability that he would have washed out completely had his father and
grandfather not been influential graduates of the Naval Academy.)
Palin: Hawaii Pacific University – 1 semester
North Idaho College – 2 semesters – general study
University of Idaho – 2 semesters – journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College – 1 semester
University of Idaho – 3 semesters – B.A. in Journalism
Now, which team are you going to hire ?

*PS: What if Barack Obama had an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?***
Alan #107….please pray for our good people….you are right to point out the “bigger picture”….we seem to be absorbed in “American” issues at the expense of the world…as a nation of immigrants, we must see the value of all human life.
Let us declare with our actions that we no longer subscribe to “Might is Right” but now we adopt “Right is Might”…that will unite people because we all want to be dealt with in the “Right” way…with ABSOLUTE JUSTICE”.
This election is about USA/America!
Why is the rightwing media trying to interject Palestinian/Israel issues into this campaign? Bush Hugged Putin so what does that mean? Reagan hugged Brezhnev, what does that mean?
McCain’s IRI gave Khalidi 1/2 million dollars for Palestinian research while Obama did not! McCain said ACORN is good for America while Obama represented ACORN with their voter registratioon efforts along with the Justice Department lawyers and such.
McCain’s ads are about Obama’s associates and not about Obama. If that is all McCain has and he is elected, I am moving to Inner Mongolia!
god bless america
You liberal democrats who think it is ok to abort a baby, Marry Adam to Steve, just love to put Palin down. lets see the Bible states thou shalt not kill, oh and also the Bible states homosexuality is an abomination, ( obamaination) McCain is pro-life, and the sanctity of marriage. Now who are you going to vote for . I think I will vote the Bible ( nuff said, you do not even have an argument.
Besides giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to Khalidi, McCain is close personal friends with G. Gordon Liddy, a man who actively tried to subvert the electoral process, and not by petty vote fraud, but through espionage, disinformation, and intimidation. How Liddy is not still rotting in prison for treason is a complete mystery to me. How anyone could be proud to know him is an even greater mystery. He is filth. Liddy is worse than a common criminal. He tried to undermine the bedrock of our country. He tried to fix an election by bugging the opposition headquarters. Unforgivable! And McCain actually likes this guy. AND he calls himself a patriot?!
All I’ve got to say to that is, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. If McCain can’t win on issues (a fact that has been clear for months, at least to his own advisors), at least he could have avoided selling his honor by playing his McCarthyite game, and playing it when he himself has the greater liabilities. Liddy is a traitor. That’s who John McCain hangs out with, a damned traitor.
djo#114 you say Obama is “pro islam”…well, a third of the world’s population is Pro-Christian…there’s nothing wrong with that and by the way, another third are muslims!! It is an Honor to be on the side of the Pristine teachings of all world religions, all of which profess peace. Let’s stop equating the word “Islam” with negativity….it literally translates “Peace”.
I’M so sick of
hearing all this bs about obama
when mccain has had more ties to the same men as obama.I guess sarah talks about it because he doesn’t tell her the truth.mccain is a very sick, evil to the core and I pray to god he gets
what he deserves when this election is over .
whats next.the sharing of obamas toys and his peanut butter sandwich.what has mccain shared .
probably nothing .thats how the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.
By Edgar M. Bronfman
Edgar M. Bronfman is the former president of the World Jewish Congress.
“I am supporting Obama for president for two reasons: one is my disdain for the McCain-Palin ticket, and the other my respect and admiration for Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
Among Jewish voters, some feel the basic question is which candidate will act in the best interest of Israel. The answer is Barack Obama. As an American Jew who loves Israel, I cannot support John McCain. He cannot provide what Israel needs most–a respected, credible, morally strong America. To have the United States and Israel both regarded by the rest of the world as unreliable and in isolation is no way to solve the problems that plague both countries. This has been the effect of the Bush policies, and these are the policies that John McCain has promised to continue. Barack Obama is the candidate who can restore America’s moral authority in the world and position our government to help negotiate peace.
The most vexing problem Israel faces is its relations with its neighbors. From the inception of the state until today, Israelis have felt besieged, surrounded by enemies who want to make them disappear. The constant security threat has made it very difficult for Israel to address the long list of problems that for the most part have been swept under the rug while awaiting peace. These include a disastrous educational system, a widening gap between rich and poor, and bitter division between secular and religious Jews. Israel desperately needs peace if it is to come anywhere close to being the “light unto nations” of Jewish dreams.
I quarrel with the oft-heard assumption that “George W. Bush is good for Israel.” He gleaned many Jewish votes on that slogan, but I take a contrarian’s position. Israel is further from peace than it was at the end of the Clinton administration. The smoldering hatred between Iraq’s Sunni and Shi’a has burst into flames as a result of the American occupation. An emboldened Iran, with its Shi’a majority, has strengthened and armed Israel’s enemies Hamas and Hezbollah. But Israel’s most immediate danger comes from a nuclear Iran. Under the Bush administration, conversations with the Iranians began only at the end of May 2007 and have been badly mishandled. The result of the Bush doctrine in the Middle East has been an America and an Israel that are regarded with hatred and fear.
Barack Obama is an inspiring American, willing and able to lead this nation and the world to new heights in very perilous times. I will vote for him with enthusiasm.”
Not worth the time to comment on this thread.
Obama has no experience and no voting record to speak of because he was a senator for 143 days before the session ended and he began his campaign. While John McCain was a senator for 20 years Obama was attending a racist church.
He is a follower of Saul Alinsky. He is at best a social democrat who wants to redistribute wealth. He called his wife a fellow traveler, code for communist sympathizer. No coincidence considering the company he keeps.
He hangs with and is mentored by terrorists, communists and racists. Given his lack of a voting record he is being judged not on his trillion dollars worth of promises, but on the significant parts of his life story–of which his acquaintances are a significant part.
Obama is bad news.
I must say that when I asked for a fair assessment I would have expected all the know it alls to give me real facts.
If you want to be fair and create valuable information and get your point across show me facts. Truths not emotion and stop acting like children who will hold a grudge for life because you were hurt as a child.
Help people by sharing facts. Stop judging others when you do not do the work to understand all the facts and background of a situation.
In all honestly I find the behavior of most here just simply childish.
Thanks for just confirming we are not honorable and fair people with ethics that are our core foundation of judgment.
Jephnol
Saul Alinsky is the greatest community organizer of all time. Being one of his followers suggests nothing more than a desire to help people.
Oooh! Scary! Helping poor people! What will the bogeyman do next?
Also, see my post above regarding McCain and the traitor Liddy.
I agree with the thoughts that the video tape should not be hidden from the public, but you can understand why. The Right Wing Machine only sees the world thru a tunnel vision when it comes to the Middle East Policy. Anyone criticizing the U.S. Middle East Policy or Israel will not see the end of the day. I am not talking about the terrorists, just the average American in this country is not allowed to criticize Israel unless they have a death wish. The Right Wing Machine will ruin their livelihood and their good name before the night is over, whether the criticism is valid or not. There is no room in this country to criticize Israel.
There is also no room for the 3 to 4 million Muslims in this country to be Americans. They are all considered terrorists and every politician tries to stay away from any association with a Muslim or an Arab. Just look at what Mr. Obama and his campaign has done, steer away from any rumor that he is a Muslim. I don’t have a problem with Mr. Obama as a Christian man but the fact that he has to continuously repeat to the American public that he is not a Muslim like it is a plaque is where my problem lies. We officially consider all Muslim and Arabs in this country as well as the 1.2 billion Muslims around the world to be suspect, and that is not fair. This is not the America that I envision as a model for success around the world. The world does not hate us for our freedom; they hate us for our arrogance. I don’t think that Obama or McCain has the pulse of what direction this country should be headed, let alone becoming world leaders.
Just listen to the McCain supporter who will not vote for Obama because he is an “Arab”, and listen to McCain’s response to this woman. I am disturbed more by McCain’s answer than the ill-informed supporter’s question. If you are not disturbed by what is happening to our country, then you are dishonest and need to be educated.
ANSWER THE REAL QUESTION!
who gave Khalidi more money?
Obama or McCain.
John McCain in 1998 ($480K)

come on. all i was saying is that if mccains daddy and granddaddy would of been factory workers, after the 3rd or 4th time, he just wouldnt of been a pilot anymore. sorry that hurt your feelings, but its the truth.there are rules and strict guidlines when it comes to your actions in a military vehicle. that was my point.
oh and djo…
“The Bible states that the love of money is the root of all evil. It seems that money has became more important than christian morals and integrity.”
i have never heard a better point. the only problem is that you have it COMPLETELY backwards. Christain morals? have you seen ANY of the rallies for your beloved McCain/Palin? Killing in the name of religion might be one of the best examples of an oxymoron EVER. If you actually knew anything about christian morals, than maybe you would be able to distinguish between the hate-mongering and racism from REAL christian morals like treating everyone equally, loving thy neighbor, telling the truth.. you know.. all of the things that have been lost by the disgusting GOP campaign.. lets play a game.. name who this quote came from:
“…I’m not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions. The fires of hell are glaciers compared to the hate I have for the American government.”
terrorist? some crazy extremist muslim?
Nope.. good old Joe Volger, head of Alaska Independant Party.. the party that Palins family has strong ties with.. the party that Palin is quoted as saying “I share your parties vision.”
lets talk about this one.. i just love hearing excuses..
Dina#118
Dina; Now that’s really unfair of you to have such glaring side by side comparisons and expose the weaknesses and shortcomings of the Mccains’ and Palin. We should not use the paucity of their intellect against them….but a brilliant analogy I must say!
If Obama followers are all about truth, why are you not asking the LA Times to release the Obama/Khalidi tape?
Justice #125
Start with this reference,”The Gulf Crisis and the New World Order”…. a very objective read. Just google it and other books by the author on Absolute Justice. Good Luck….
“He is a follower of Saul Alinsky.” Jephnol
“He hangs with and is mentored by terrorists, communists and racists.” Jephnol
Jephnol,
Saul Alinsky was an American hero- and he was Jewish. Alinsky spent his whole life trying to get equal pay for women, jobs for African Americans, and housing for the poor. Read his interview about his life and his thoughts shortly before his death in 1973
http://www.progress.org/2003/alinsky3.htm
You might also consider your feelings about Jeremiah Wright being a “racist.” He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for six years, and spent over 30 years helping the poor and out of work people in his community- many of them single mothers. All races are welcomed at his church. Remember, the only reason that black churches ever came into existence was that African Americans were denied access to white ones. You have it backwards. Racism has been pracised almost exclusively by whites against minorities.
Not this time.
Why did John McCain,in his position as a Senator, give Khalidi 500,000.00?
Dr. K. Malik, MD: thanks. did you wirte it
I don’t question Alinsky’s purpose, I question his tactics:
“In a fight almost anything goes. It almost reaches the point where you stop to apologize if a chance blow lands above the belt.” This is the thinking which gave rise to ACORN and it’s bully tactics.
AJ: Catch up:
After reading Khalidi’s works, I’m actually kind of disappointed that he isn’t even a radical. He’s basically pro-Palestinian, which for some mouthbreathers in the US, cannot be anything but radical. He’s pretty moderate, as far as the Israeli/Palestinian debate goes.
doublestandard:
“Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules. You can kill them with this. They can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”
How about the sexist slamming of Palin? Wow!
How about all of those Alaskan hicks I keep hearing about from the left? Aren’t they working class enough for you?
The spin on Palin’s faith was wild. How about a multicultural perspective on that? Well, you can have different beliefs, but you shouldn’t seek higher office in this land unless you believe like we do?
Khalidi was one:
What troubles the Israelis now is a second Palestinian team, a six-person advisory panel that will also be in Madrid and will serve as a conduit between the official delegation and the P.L.O. It is this group that presumably will be calling the shots, and one way or another all its members violate Israel’s guidelines for the sort of Palestinians with whom it is prepared to negotiate. In particular, they speak openly for the P.L.O.

PLO = terrorist
McCain/Palin, why do you throw rocks in glass houses? There are reports that McCain gave Rashid Khalidi organization more then a half million dollars in the early 90s. Then I heard a report that Palin had her house in Wasilla remodeled for free by the same lobbyist that Sen. Ted Stevens was connected to.
Yea, here dirt there dirt, this affiliation and that… At the end of the day we must stop and think?
A good man once said, “Together we stand divided we fall”. Our country’s foundation of religious freedom should not be tarnished by fear.
I am a blood bought Christian to the core. That does not give me the right to speak down to anyone that is not a follower of Christ or give the notion that something is wrong with them. Our mission as Christians is to lead the lost to Christ, not judge them. I was asked by a group of conservative sisters in Christ, “what I’m going to do if Obama wins the election”? I simply looked them in the eye and said, “Pray for him just as I have prayed for others in government”. 1 Timothy 2:1-3
Now, when it comes to selecting a president I put aside all party affiliations and ask myself a few questions. Which candidate do I feel in my heart can lead our great country? Who can bring the people together? Who can restore America’s credibility to the world? Who has shown stability though our grueling election process?
Furthermore, there have been a lot said about one being tested. Is that a reference to serving in the military, getting shot down or being a prisoner of war? Hmmm let’s look through our history of past presidents… There have been a total of 10 past presidents that never served in the military not speaking of those that used political and family affiliation not to go battle. (Georg W. Bush). Would you say they weren’t ready because they never served in the military or went to battle? Franklin D. Roosevelt never served in the military but, he brought us through the great depression.
Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians has at times bordered on terrorism. I think that we can support Israel without rubber stamping everything they do. Palestinians have valid claims against Israel that are not being addressed.
“I don’t question Alinsky’s purpose, I question his tactics:
“In a fight almost anything goes.”
The why not question the Steve Schmidt run campaign that spreads lies, hate, and fear about Barack Obama. The political smear ad mischaracterizing the “Sex Education Bill” which never got out of committee in Illinois is a blatant example. McCain hired the very George Bush people who libeled him in the 2000 primary.
John McCain and Sarah Palin have used every smear tactic available to win an election. What does that say about their character?
Saul Alinsky’s tactics never hurt anyone and were used to get people jobs, housing and the vote.
Not this time.
Same old same old. Wondering why you never mentioned McCain’s contributions to Khalidi and his organization, which amoounted to ten times those of Obama. But then I realize that you preach to the “low information crowd” i.e. the Repub base, who will believe anything they hear that supports their prejudices and wouldn’t have any interest in checking the accuracy of those reports.
Fear controls people. This is for cfbleachers. Very nice rhetorical exercise. I applaud you but you are forgetting something. The far RIGHT has been in control for the last eight years. The way they gained and try to hold onto control is to cause fear. They have created the left wing media conspiracy as a way to scare people into voting for them and they trot out that bogey man again in this election in an vain attempt to hold onto control. They are not losing because of a media conspiracy they are losing because they have horribly botched the job of running this country. Our economy is a shambles, Bin-Laden is still breathing free air, our former allies dislike and distrust us, we are mired in an increasingly unwinnable war spending billions while the Iraqis build up surplusses and take two month summer vacationsOur middle class has shrunk drastically over the last 10-20 years. MCCain brings out the specter of socialism as a bad thing when we have had corporate socialism for years. The oil companies have been subsidized to the hilt while reaping record profits, agribusiness, coal all get subsidies and people are afraid of socialized medicine?
Republicans are losing the battle of ideas and are conducting a scorched eart policy campaign in a desperate attempt to stave off defeat. This is their own doing not THE VAST LEFT WING CONSPIRACY. Yes there might be a little liberal bias in the media but not nearly as much as republican scaremongers would like you to believe. If they keep you afraid they control you.
Jephnol,
Complaints about tactics coming from right-wingers. That’s rich. This is the party of Nixon, after all. You know, the man who launched a full frontal assault on the Constitution he swore to defend, not to mention the democratic system itself, by bugging his opponents and using the machinery of the federal government to “screw our enemies.”
Nothing ACORN has done, or even Rashid Khalidi for that matter, can hold a candle to the poisonous anti-American crimes of Nixon or the more pedestrian immorality of Lee Atwater, Karl Rove, and their offspring.
I love my country too much to allow it to continue to be ruled by a party that has a track record dating back at least four decades of not believing in the basic tenets of democracy and the rule of law. No amount of fear mongering, hateful lying, or empty rhetoric about “real America” (as if the GOP cared about anything but its own bank accounts) can convince me to support a party that doesn’t believe in the fundamental freedoms on which the country was founded. Since Nixon, the GOP has abandoned the Constitution and has attacked basic American values whenever it has been in power. It has done so wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross, which only makes it more nauseating.
This is Cowart McCain Embrace.
McCain-Palin has intensive planned in mind to kill Obama behind the Cowart-Sclesselman White-Supermacist Plot to kill Obama. In the campaign McCain-Palin aggressively connect Obama to Ayers, Khalidi, marcism, socialism, communism, muslim, wealth redistribution In Chief and etc irresponsibly. They aggressively motivate, aggravate and fuel the feeling of the supporters to hate Obama. Defend his supporters calling Obama is Arabic, Muslim, Terrorist, Al-Qaida even do least to supporter screaming to kill Obama. In this way McCain-Palin hoping the supporters over anger and make a plot to kill Obama. McCain-Palin have to come out to tell the American of their stand on this plot. McCain-Palin has totally and directly responsible on this plot.
anyone who thinks this is newsworthy or that it says something about a deep, dark, anti-semetic secret of obama’s is an idiot. or just so completely anti-obama that, at this point, you’re not only grasping at straws, but at non existent straws you’re trying to make appear by will.
give it a break already! say you don’t like his tax policies, his positions on health care and education. but making up bullsh*t reeks of desperation and it’s actually alarming. take a deep breath. the man is not a secret marxist or a terrorist. do you have any common sense?
have you people even attended a community college course? let me explain something about the world of academia – columbia is a good school, as is the univ of chicago. both schools do excellent work in recruiting experts in various fields with wide ranging opinions and views to teach at their university. and academics get together often and discuss things, probably using words you couldn’t begin to understand. but generally not plotting the overthrow of israel.
professor khalidi is an excellent professor. ask anyone who had at columbia or at u. chicago. does he have opinions you might not agree with? absolutely. does he encourage students to voice their opinions so there can be deeper discussions? definitely. is he a radical terrorist? no. but apparently that depends on what you think defines terrorist. and really – do you think a terrorist is anyone who dares (gasp) criticize US or Israeli policies? god forbid we disagree with the government. how evil of us!

Is there anybody honorable in Obama’s background at all?
It seems he surrounds himself exclusively with slugs, thugs, and America haters.
I believe the old saying “You are known by the company you keep” aptly applies to Obama…
Be scared America, be very scared!
Anyone who believed himself trustworthy to the people, wouldn’t struggle to keep so much hidden.
There is always a reason you hide things you know will reflect badly on you.
I feel especially sorry for the Jewish Americans that the likes of Sarah Silverman and the young Jews she directed to tell their grand parents to trust this guy and vote for him. I could never betray the people i love that way!
with all due respect Ms.Petrov/Mr Bronffman – we do not live in a 1 dimensional world and choosing the O based on 1 aspect of his supposed abilities is a pretty foolish thing to do, especially since most of his other (few) but known policy goals will definitely be to leave Israel out in the cold more so than now – do you truly believe an attack by iran is going to get the O to do ANYTHING to help you, other than spout ‘ peace, cool down, lets wait and see what happens’? The known factor is that the Republicans have always supported Israel, not making as many mistakes perhaps on policy as your country has, but support none the less. To turn that into a negative is extremely ungrateful. Even so, Pres McCain I’m sure will have no hard feelings.
Sooner or later the United States is going to have to address the situation in the Middle East for what it is, a complex situation where both sides have legitimate grievances that must be dealt with.
Israel is not what the American Jewish community seek to portray it as,a democratic beacon of hope to world Jewry. It has morphed into a nasty little thug prone to violence and dependent by need on various unsavory religious and right wing political alliances.
Curiously, an open debate about this is more possible in Tel Aviv than in the New York let’s say.
Such is the power of the Israel lobby,an entity which people posting on this blog I am certain would deny exists.
Anybody deviating in the slightest from their dogmatic stance is subjected to an unrelenting barrage of attacks in the media.
This lobby is composed of a wide spectrum of people from “old lefties to right wing Christians”-the politics of the holy land does indeed make for strange bedfellows, all driven for their own reasons to “protect” Israel.
The Arab or Muslim cause on the other hand is fractured, confused and in the west at least incapable of making its case in a coherent way. This is fortunate for Israel, because if the Palestinians could produce a Gandhi or Mandela the jig might be up.
But if Obama wants to talk to scholars or even “terrorists”- a highly relative term- to gain information and build relationships in the region that might be in the future helpful to securing a peace more power to him. We need fresh perspectives, and leadership ready to search them out.
And try this out before you will. Thomas Friedman of the Times isn’t freaking out about all this and a more pro Israel opinion maker than Friedman you couldn’t find.
Only the paranoid idiots who haunt cyberspace ranting on about implausible conspiracies and the most recent drivel on the Rush Bimbo show seem to.
Thank God that the election seems a shoo in for some one whose IQ is higher than his blood temperature.
cfbleachers:
When you intimate the strangulation of one view by the holders of another, and suggest the ridicule and immolation in effigy of all that oppose the view, you are talking of Rush Limbaugh and Fox News, correct. These are the only places that I have witnessed what you speak of. If you have other, specific examples, please post them. Your eloquence appears to be an attempt to obfuscate the fact that your thesis has no substance. Of course, if there is substance there, you will be able to provide some concrete examples.

Actually, what cfbleachers was talking about was the fact that if you express an alternate view in this country you are lambasted and called names. Seems that your comment serves to accentuate his/her point, not to expose its falsehood.

There is a huge difference between attending a dinner for a retiring colleague with whom you do not agree and cheering at a KKK rally. If you don’t understand the difference, I really do feel sorry for you.
In case you missed it McCain years earlier gave this guy $ 450,000 and was also at meeting with him, in either case stop trying to make something out of nothing. The Jewish state is not held harmless in this mess.
I feel like I am on the set of The Epic Movie whenever I listen to McCain and Palin. And then there is Joe the Plumber who is exactly like them!!!!!!!
I seriously doubt Obama would be able to get a Secret Clearence if he was a government employee, but being elected, why should it matter
I’m an independent, but I support Obama. I find all of these character assassinations lame. I know, I know the argument, that if you don’t object and stay silent that means you’re a supporter. Well, sorry, like Obama, I’m very interested in all points of view. Even the most ridiculous ones. I own the book INTERNATIONAL JEW by Henry Ford, which is a scathing, anti-Semetic piece of work. I also have Elijah Muhammad’s MESSAGE TO THE BLACK MAN. I also have some works of white supremacists. I’m not a Jew hater, I don’t hate blacks (I am black) and I’m not a Muslim. Some of us, especially those like me who believe that in order to work with and defeat your enemy you have to understand that enemy, are intrigued by this type dialogue. We are not sympathizers. Of course, when you have no true message, these are the types of things you can focus on. We have a sitting president who isn’t open to any dialogue or ideas and who lacks the understanding of our enemies. Do you like where we are as a country? Then you embrace ignorance
I am an American Jew and a great supporter of Isael, which I visited not as a secular tourist, but as a spritual Jew. I know and have known many Israelis.
The fact is that many Israelis have Palestinian friends who may not agree with them politically.
Even many Israelis disagree on the nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Thus it is not, and should not be, incongruous for two people on opposite sides of an issue to respect each other’s opinions and still be friends. This is what democracy is all about.
The US and Israel are two great examples of living democracy.
So if Obama embraced Khalidi so what? Obama has made very clear his unflagging support for Israel.
The GOP is, as usual, trying to divide our country with its Salem witch hunt MOs.
UH??? Excuse me but John McCain gave the same Khalidi $838,494.00.
If Obama is wrong for associating with the man then McCain is EVEN more wrong for funding him not once but TWICE. That is the REAL reason why this story has gone away. The McCain campaign finally remembered that John McCain’s “International Republican Instititute” which he was head of at the time donated money TWICE to the same man!!! That is what is so sickening about McCain’s campaign. He is so hell bent on saying anything to win that he will throw anyone under the bus if he thinks someone is ignorant to believe it. They were so engrossed and frothing at the mouth to get this to the press that he CONVENIENTLY forgot that his own organization gave to $838,494.00 to Khalidi’s organization in 1988 and 1999. So says the IRS…so says the organization’s tax records…so says the Republican Institute’s tax records. How can he criticize Obama’s associations with him when he, JOHN McCAIN, gave the same man almost a million dollars?
Are the American people supposed to be so stupid as to not be able to separate rhetoric from action?? Are we so easily led by hate mongers that we will be blinded to facts? No…Hell no…

Do you really think he is for the sanctity of marriage. This is a guy who admittedly had many affairs on his first wife. Got a marriage license for his second wife before he was even divorced from his first one. Where in the bible do I find the part where it is ok to have numerous affairs on your wife?
djo:
actually, you don’t have an argument either. Before your attack, realize that I am not voting for Obama, and despise the democratic party with every fibre of my being.
Voting ‘with the Bible’ doesn’t divide the parties into a clear good and a clear evil choice. War kills people; the Bible says “thou shalt not kill,” if you’re using that commandment as your ‘reasoning’ behind your opposition to abortion, then at least be consistent and oppose all war, since it can and does kill INNOCENT people in the process. Always. Not to mention the death penalty, for another silly example. It kills [sometimes] innocent people, due to the justice system being flawed. Even if they’re guilty, the Bible teaches to forgive, not to kill those who are your enemies. Both parties send innocent people to die.
On homosexuality, it’s true that a Biblical stance would oppose gay marriage.
But on a more fundamental level, the Bible also teaches against taking what is not rightfully yours – stealing. Think about what happens when you don’t pay your taxes. The gov’t sends you to jail. How is this not extortion, which is of course a kind of theft (forcibly taking what doesn’t belong to you due to a threat of violence if refused). Both parties are guilty every year.
I can easily make an argument to counter your ‘argument’: let me try.
I don’t believe in the Bible. Therefore your ad hoc claim to absolute truth is meaningless. If you disagree, I’d like you to prove to me that the Bible IS truth and anything ‘countering’ it is necessarily false.
Can’t prove it? Of course you can’t. And therefore, you have no argument.
Your ‘argument’ hinges on the ridiculous assumption that every human being knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Bible is the absolute truth. That’s not even true of every American, including me, a right-wing conservative.
After months of listening to how Barack Obama is going to save the world, I personally haven’t heard one good argument as to why I should vote for the man. Yes the economy is bad, but anybody actually doing their homework on the subject would realize that BOTH parties are equally responsible for the economical crisis we are having. Yes we are in an unpopular war…but even Clinton stated that Hussein was a viable threat, and that he(Clinton)had tried to get him,(Hussein) but was not able to. I just don’t think Obama has set forth any really clear plan to lift us as a nation to a place of financial security, or to the place of military security where we once were. With that said I can not honestly say that John McCain has presented any clear remedies either. I will however vote for McCain for the following reasons. I believe that life begins at conception, I believe that if someone is to be trusted with our armed forces, he/she should have served in those forces. I believe that when someone gives their word on any given subject, he/she is obligated to keep their word. John McCain has done so. Barack Obama has not kept his word, and has changed his stand on a number of policy ideas, as to keep with what he thinks the people want to hear. To be a true leader you must be able to stand up for what you believe to be the right thing even if it is not popular. I haven’t heard Barack Obama tell the media to stop with their vicious assults against McCain or Sarah Palin, while he told them to lay off his wife. I have heard McCain spaek out against any negative coverage of Barack’s association with the Reverend Wright, and I have seen him take the microphine away from his own supporters who were speaking nasty things. This is a man of integrity. I honestly believe that Barack Obama is very full of himself. People are worried about the $50,000.00 the McCain campaign spent on clothing for Sarah Palin, while hardly anyone cares about the untold amounts of money Barack has spent on custome made suits or the huge stage that was errected for his acceptance speach at the Democratic convention. There are many differences between John McCain/Sarah Palin and Barack Obama/Joe Biden. My vote will be one of millions and millions cast this upcoming Tuesday, and I truly hope that it will be the one that gives John McCain the White House, and my children’s future. One final note…you’ll notice that I didn’t have to call anyone any nasty names to get my point across! May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob have mercy on and bless the United States of America. Amen.
Sorry Brian – you don’t get it – I attend fundraisers and dinners for people that share my interests and values – if I am called on to speak, the event needs to reflect positively on what I stand for – or I decline, and you don’t need a law degree to understand that, unless you are , maybe, under 30, relativism (which is what you are claiming) has really screwed people up – pro abortion, continuously showing poor judgement in associations, an honest question is asked, bring up a point that came out of your very own mouth, and it’s a smear. But hey hope and change….
McCain gave Khalidi a almost a million dollars but Obama is the shady one? GIVE ME A BREAK!

Israel has a right to exist peacefully and prosper. But so do millions of other people who live in the Middle East. Even Jimmy Carter, a man who brokered a peace accord for Israel and Egypt, calls the Israeli treatment of Palestinians akin to Apartheid.
The Jewish lobbies in the U.S. are too powerful. If the USA told Israel, “have a peace accord signed by the end of 2010 or we’re cutting funding by 30%,” you can believe Israel would find a way to do it.
All I can see are alot of stops and starts to the process. Israel continues to break ground and build in disputed areas. Everytime some Palestinian looks at them cross-eyed they use it as an excuse to walk away from the table. A little pressure needs to be put on the Israeli leadership to make some concessions and get the ball rolling. This has gone on for far too long.
bty, if you really think the O was invited to this dinner because his name was picked out of the phone book, or that as an up-and-coming very liberal politician his presence wasn’t desired,(or maybe he owed them something???) or that he was never asked to speak or affirm anything that went on there, well, all he has to do is BE HONEST and RESPOND – but that takes us back to the relativism question……..
“Boo hoo! We’re not winning! But I prayed evera sangle night?!? My bible is all ah need. Who needs a brain or any fancy insights when a 2000 year old fairytale can decide everathing for me? Yeehaw!”
The idea of “votin the bible” is ridiculous. Maybe the rest of us should impeach your god and vote for your next supersitious religious crutch.
The KKK is a far worse organisation than al qaeda!
Hey Jennifer Rubin,
Can you please tell us readers why there is NO mention of John McCain and his contributions to Mr. Khalidi? I find it quite odd that you write a story trying to connect the dots with Obama and Khalidi but fail to leave out one HUGE fact about McCain and his contributions to Khalidi.

My understanding is that the Bible is not very tolerant of divorce, either.
Why is there is no mention that Sen. McCain gave this guy over $500,000. I guess your article is fair and balanced. What a sleazy way to try to fool the public. Tell the truth McCain is no Angel.
Was there anywhere in the video that Khalidi thanks John McCain for the 15 years of support and $500,000 donation to his organization?
Try removing the log out of your own eye before you concern yourself with the speck of dust in someone else’s eye.
Go Cindy-
If any one cares to read the Rolling Stone piece on the real McCain and still believes that this man is the moral choice for the United States, we are lost.
His treatment of his first wife was so shabby, that Nancy and Ron chilled to him.
Members of his own party are scared by his temper and lack of restraint. He was shot down because of his own glory seeking recklessness.
He got where he is by exploiting his connections in the Washington power elite and yet portrays himself as an outsider. And realizing that his last possible shot at the White house depended on a base he basically regarded as disposable, chose a running mate who talks to God.
Were Obama white -in this still very racist nation, McCain would be 30 points behind at least.
Let me start this post by stating I have been a registered Republican my entire adult life (for which I now am unfortunatly ashamed) That being said once this has been read by you Republican lemmings you can call me an Obamaniac, a traitor, unpatriotic, a communist, all the fear mongering Republican party words you use when someone, anyone, disagrees with your way of thinking. For one moment lets set aside the Isreali/Palestinian conflict and take a long hard look at what has happened to this country over the last eight years that no one seems to want to discuss. Lets begin with a little history lesson. Every conflict the USA has been involved in prior to the Iraq fiasco were now embedded in, we have fought against regimes and dictators who have believed that is quite acceptable to invade foreign sovereign nations, overthrow that nations government, install a goverment of their choosing who will uphold their beliefs, kill thousands of their citizens, and force their way of life down the throats of the ones they dont kill. Some examples for those of you who arent up on your history would be Hitler, the U.S.S.R., North Korea, North Vietnam ect ect.
Then comes along the current Bush administration who used 9/11 as an excuse to invade a sovereign foreign nation, Iraq (to this day there has been no proof they had any involment whatsoever with 9/11) overthrow their government, install the government of our choice, a war which has killed thousands of Iraqi’s and shoved “democracy” down the throats of the citizens who have survived. Let us not forget (ever) the 4000 US soldiers who have also died fighting in this unjust invasion.
Simply put we have now done exactly what we have fought against throuhout our history and as much as you Reublican lemming dont want to address it John McCain, the patriot, maverick, war hero has been for this atrocity since day one and still is by his own words. And yet Bin-Laden is still running around free as a bird. Huh. Any intelligent person would have to question what the hell’s going on here and question the judgement of the people who are doing it. That being said lets take a look at John McCain. If backing the invasion of Iraq is what John McCain considers best for this country, If picking Sarah (dingbat) Palin to be the VP is what John McCain feels is best for this country, If padding the pockets of the wealthy who have buried us financially is what John McCain feels is best for this country then I have to question John McCains ability to make rational judgements. It goes beyond this however, yesterday at a McCain rally in Ohio John McCain introduced Joe the plumber and the gut wasnt even there!!!! As President I do believe you should at least know who’s in the frigging room. And to continue stating you have no doubt you’re going to win this election even though every national poll shows you trailing by a large margin could be seen as quite possibly dillusional. This is the guy we want to elect as leader of the free world. Im sorry to upset the Rebulican lemmings, but as John himself would say, I think not “my friends”
Why is it that people are not allowed to have opinions anymore? I happen to believe that the USA is a despicable world tyrant and responsible for more war and death than any other country in the world. I am not proud of what we’ve done in Central America, in Vietnam, in Iraq. The assasinations and then manipulation of governments in Africa, South America, Asia, etc. But I’m not going to leave the USA. I want to change it to meet MY standards. Just as others wish to change it to meet theirs. This is DEMOCRACY. The majority rules. It seems like the “democracy” that the Republicans want is one where everyone thinks the same, where everyone hates the same, where everyone looks at the world in black and white. Either you are with us or you are against us. America never has been or never will be wrong. Well that’s just the kind of Arrogance that has brought terrorism here to our home.
Why is it that the war on terror had to be a WAR? Why was it never a war on Poverty? A war on inequality? A war on injustice? A war on greed?
Becase then we’d be declaring war on ourselves.
I am NOT offended by Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Khalidi, etc. I may not agree with them but they have every right to their own opinions. So do Barack Obama and John McCain.
RE: The two major weaknesses of McCain are
1) Loyalty: until the primary began, McCain prided himself on being a loyal republican with much respect for Bush. As soon as his “esteemed” advisors told him that he needed to distance himself from Bush and his failed policies, he stabbed Bush in the back. As much as Bush has been a failure, it says a lot about how low McCAin would go to win to see him bash Bush, a man he is on tape saying that he voted with him 90% of the time, more than his fellow republicans. He is just desparate to win, and that is why NOW, he’s trying to look unlike Bush. It almost makes you feel bad for Bush. Poor guy; these very people were feeding his fire just a year ago.
2)McCain’s judgment or LACK of judgment:
A. Poor advisors and strategists who obviously have given him poor advice, or maybe he was a maverick even against his own advisors, and all of these poor ideas were actually his own ideas.
B. You would think he’d do his homework – just once! He didn’t vet Palin or really study her strengths vs. her weaknesses. Even top republicans are saying she’s just not good or smart enough
C. McCain is the ONE who thurst joe the plummer into the national spotlight by bringing him up in the last debate. Once again, had he done his homework, he would have known that this guy did not have a license, would get more $ back with Obama’s tax plan, owed $1200 in back taxes, and obviously, he is a LOSER if he doesn’t pay child support for his own child.
McCain brought him up thinking, “Oh, this will be good for me. I can show Obama up.” What an empty brain. You would think he could have chosen another plummer without this baggage if he just had to have a plummer to give him a “catch-phrase”
D. Obviously, McCain or a top advisor, approved by McCain himself, had to sic the dogs on finding out the dirt on Obama’s associations. I’m sure he had several gofers paid just to google Obama’s name with people. I can see it now….. Obama and racists; Obama and radicals; Obama and rapists; Obama and murderers; and I am sure they probably with their level of intelligence probably typed in the search box at some point in time…. Obama and Hitler. I’m sure they can find something to link him with that guy… heck, they might even come up with an actual video.
And, my final point: We republicans, democrats, and independents who are choosing to vote for Obama will ask Obama and maybe demand that Obama get the LA Times to release the tape right after McCain releases all the court documents about his wife’s problems, all transcripts of his association with Liddy, Keating, and the grant application giving the half a million to this Khalidi guy with McCain’s signature on it. McCain was the chairman of that committee, and he would have had to have signed that document. So, hop, hop!
Cindy – believe you are not very familiar w the Bible, so read about David – he was a pretty nasty guy when it came to other men’s wives – but he had a heart for God and knew he screwed up, and turned out to be a great leader…which means??? John McCain has a track record as a leader, admits (generally)when he screws up and even his ex-wife has nothing but great things to say about him – so unless you are that 1 in 3 (or 4) who hasn’t been through the divorce mill, think the record should say more than obfuscation (the O’s mo)
This is McCain-Palin Plan To Kill Obama.
McCain-Palin has concrete plan behind the Cowart-Sclesselman Plot to kill Obama. In the campaign McCain-Palin aggressively connect Obama to Ayers, Khalidi, Palestin, marcism, socialism, communism, muslim, wealth redistribution In Chief and etc irresponsibly. They intentionally motivate, aggravate and fuel the feeling of the supporters to hate Obama. Openly defend his supporters calling Obama is Arabic, Muslim, Terrorist, Al-Qaida even supporter screaming to kill Obama. In this way McCain-Palin heavily praying the supporters over anger organize leftist group such as White-Supermacist in hoping to kill Obama.
in the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several documented grants, including one worth about half a million dollars, to the Center for Palestine Research and Studies, or CPRS, a West Bank organization associated with Khalidi.
Was he funding terrorists? Or is it far more likely that he’s exagerating Obama’s connection and any threat posed by Khalidi for political gain?
How dumb are we?
The reason Obama, by his own admission, frequently socialized with Khalidi in Chicago and his wife recently attended the wedding of Khalidi’s daughter is because they are birds of a feather. Obama is a man of Muslim origins, he was schooled in Islam, had Muslin roommates in his first college experience, went to their home countries (Muslim) to visit them, campaigned for his half brother (a Muslin) in Kenya, and sympathizes with the Muslim and PLO (anti- Israeli) viewpoint. Is Obama an exceptional liar concerning the contradiction between his past positions and relationships and his current stated policy– no question.
A vote for Obama is clearly a vote for death to Israel, not to mention the destruction of our economy. We should not forget that $2.5 trillion of bad loans fostered by Clinton’s directive to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack to write the predictably insolvent loans for Low income applicants and that ACORN was a heavy handed lobby at Fannie and Freddie and at our nations banks to keep up with the Clinton directive at any cost. Obama was a trainer for ACORN for 10 years according to fomer ACORN director Tony Foulkes, and Obama gave ACORN $85 million from his current campaign fund. An Obama presidency will not only create choas for Israel but will be dose more of the same medicine for what cauded our current finanical crisis, including exacerbation with higher payroll taxes for everyone, higher capital gains and death taxes impacting everyone. Since a repeal of the 5% current tax cut will be replaced by Obama’s alleged fed tax cut effect will be nil, plus the increase as a reslult of deletion of the child tax credit and imposition of the marriage penalty.

You know why the McCain camp isn’t pulling the Khalidi card? Guess who oversaw a group that donated to Khalidi’s organization to the tune of $800,000+…
John Sidney McCain. (tax returns don’t lie)

jephnol,
“Like Obama’s truth squads or sending goon squads out to squelch unapproved dialogue?”
Perhaps it’s just that I tend to tune out the foamier-mouthed part of the blogosphere, or filter out things that are patently false, but I honestly have ZERO idea what you are referring to here.
I haven’t heard anything, even in the right-wing media, about Obama goon squads suppressing anything. I have heard a lot of whining about the LA Times. My opinion is that no news organization should agree not to publish something as a precondition of acquiring it, and I can’t imagine what kind of damning indictment of Obama video of a farewell banquet for an esteemed American scholar of Middle East Studies could make. So this is just a tempest in a teacup. But I really have no idea what this whole “Obama’s truth squads” thing is. Sounds like right-wing paranoia and fear of the Other to me.
One of the most astonishing things about Nixon was that he honestly believed that his opponents would have engaged in exactly the same kinds of criminal subversion of the American government that he did. That’s just paranoid nonsense. It was then, and it is now.
I’m not saying that the Democrats are a bunch of lily-white saints. I’m just saying I’ve never seen credible evidence (that is, evidence that is credible reported by a credible source, not some second-rate blog that fancies itself the home of some sort of “journalism”) that the Obama campaign was trying to suppress anything.
I’ve just seen the video. Quite frankly, I thought I will see some Islamic radical/extremist/supporter of terrorism/fan of Ahmedinejad and I saw none of it. I just saw a man who feels very strongly about the Palestinian question and who clearly feels that the Palestinian people live in unbearable conditions. And in his argument he invoked traditional American values, such as belief in private property, to make his point. Basically, he advocated the Palestinian case from the position of defending basic human rights.
So I am asking what’s wrong with that? Is a blind and uncritical hatred of the Palestinians a requirement for a US presidency?
Ok so I watched the video. Is he lying, I don’t think so. I thought this was America where everyone had to right to say whatever the hell they felt without being persecuted. How come there is always a double standard in America. The KKK say whatever they hell they want, when they want and even obtain government permission to do so. One man listens to what another has to say and all of a sudden he’s the enemy? Did the words come out of Obama’s mouth? No, so then what’s the problem? Same thing with Ayers. The sad fact of the matter is this guy is telling the truth. You far left wingers/whiners (racists) need to come to terms with the fact that slavery is abolished, and is never, ever going to make a comeback. The good nigger days are over and man will be men. I guess if I am invited to a play and the play is about hate, I’ll be called a hate monger or an associate of hate mongers as well. I think not! Stop trying to pollute people minds with your garbage and lies and tell the truth. As a journalist it’s your job to do so in a unbiased, non partisan way. I think every journalist in America should be given an ethics class or two before being hired to write to the american public. You guys really need it!
ok, so racists will NOT vote for obama because he’s black.
but the racists will vote for obama because they also hate jews… and obama hangs-out with jew-haters.
but they will vote for mccain because he’s white, but wait… he also supports israel. meanwhile, he gives the jew hater $500K!?!??!?
it must suck to be a racist.
Has anyone seen the news that McCain has known Kaylidi for 15 years longer than Obama and that the Republican group that McCain was head of gave a quarter of a million dollars to Kaylidi’s group? This was verified but the Obama camp chooses not to take the same road for some reason. It is because McCain won’t come clean and be honest about what our politicians have to do once they get into office……him included. One hand is always washing the other. Americans should stay calm, back each other and vote out those who don’t do whats best for us. They are our employees after all. Stop fighting each other and demand that they do whats right………or you’re out. Its the only power we have left.
“Is there anybody honorable in Obama’s background at all?
It seems he surrounds himself exclusively with slugs, thugs, and America haters.”
Yeah, like that famous America hater Warren Buffett, and those infamous terrorists Richard Lugar and Deval Patrick, and that America-hating terrorist thug Colin Powell.
People see what they want to see. Some people can’t understand why someone would be in the same room with somebody they disagree with. Well, it may be a disappearing practice, but in days of old, that’s how you came to understand those who disagreed with you. You listened to them. You tried to see their point of view. And if you still disagreed, you tried not to assume that the disagreement was a function of the other person being evil.
If this tape, as is rumored, depicts a going away party, it is a celebration of a man, not an embrace of his entire world view. I have many friends with whom I disagree profoundly. Some of them believe things that I think are terribly misguided, or even dangerous and hateful. They aren’t evil. They are just incorrect. I love them because I remember that I have the same capacity for error. To hate them is to hate myself.
Once you lose sight of the possibility that you yourself may just be dead wrong, it is a short step to physical coercion, angry mobs enforcing orthodoxy on the street, fascism.
Those who know beyond doubt are the most dangerous. Faith without doubt is just blind extremism.

Gee, if he’s such a bad guy why did McCain give him (through a board) over $400000? Maybe it’s because if you dig into anyone’s life they have known people that are provocative. Should we dig as deeply into McCain’s past? How about Palin’s? Think a minute about this, all of you McCain supporters.

Why don’t you just come out and say, “I hate Muslims!” It would be more honest than this mealy-mouthed garbage and its hateful subtext of sectarian bigotry.
You supporters of John McCain deserve only the worst outcomes for the rest of your lives. Your party has NOTHING to offer except fear. How can it be that after a 2 year campaign John McCain has not one single signature issue or policy that changes our current course? Oh, sorry, you have JOE THE PLUMBER.
Never mind two wars; the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression; 50 million Americans without health insurance; rising unemployment and the largest deficits and national debt in history. #180 Phil –
Well said! Couldn’t agree more.
Was there a time when Americans were encouraged to have an opinion, and disagreements, and discussions? These are the signs of a healthy democracy! I wish people would stop spewing divisive nonsense and have meaningful discussions about how to solve our collective problems… and yes, as part of the global community, and not just in our borders.
Instead we want to shut down disagreement by throwing childish names at each other. Being unpatriotic is just a word thrown at anyone who disgrees, or God forbid, criticizes American policy. I found myself saying “Amen!” when Obama said at one point “it’s as if they pride themselves on ignorance” when he was referring to some of these far right-wing nutters (he didn’t call anyone that, I do).
So unless there is a tape that shows Obama actually killing someone, blowing something up, beheading a journalist, swearing allegiance to Al Qaeda, then who gives a f*ck?! And Khalidi is not a terrorist or a radical. Let that sh*t be.
This is ridiculous.I am an African American and I have been to Israel, Palestine. I’ve been to Jerusalem, Tiberius, the West Bank, and Tel Aviv. I spent some time in those places, and my experience with the state of Israel is that it is a very racist country. Not only did I witness hostile racism against the Palestinian people, I experienced racism from Israeli soldiers and regular citizens. A woman actually spat on me in a museum.
A comparison of Apartheid South Africa and Israel/Palestine is not so far off.
My experience of the Holy Land was tainted by the blatant, unabashed racism I experienced there. My experience with Jews was very different from the Zionists and Israelis I lived with in Israel, and it hurt to see such hateful bastards hiding beneath the cloak of religion.
The Palestinians who bomb and kill Israelis are not right, but neither are the soldiers who shoot and kill Palestinian children or the military officers who use missile strikes on apartment buildings to kill one person.
No one who kills children and then hides such a filthy act in the name of God is honorable. It is time to stop hiding behind Ideology and come back to the true meaning of the words written in the books that we profess to believe in. My God is the same God of Islam and Judaism. That God is a God of Love and I honestly believe that if God weeps, he weeps for Israel and Palestine.

One stark thing missing from the article about Khalidy…..u document what u say is Obama’s “association” with him but conveniently leave out Mccain’s….Check the facts before you give opinions……Mcain was the chairperson of a committee that gave Khalidy $500,000 to further studies of the Palestian people…Mccain championed that effort and supported the money given to Khalidy and Khalidy himself…Please stop this ridiculous hypocracy unless of course u are so desperate that truth n facts play no part in your opinions and or decisions…
I am a Christian, and one of the reasons I have turned against the Republican party is the strangle hold they have on the extreme right. I see nothing Christian about what they say or espouse. This morning I saw someone expounding on the fact that Obama had dinner with, or had a pastor that supposedly hate Israel. They are not Christians, because if they were, they would remember that not only did Jesus dine with sinners and non-Jews, he loved them. That is a concept too difficult for most Christians to manage.
I have one more question, then I quit. Why is it OK that Todd Palin (and possibly Sarah) belonged to a party in Alaska that wants to secede from the Union? I have heard that Todds mother is Eskimo or part Eskimo. Maybe he has a different view of America than we do. But, their church also had a pastor, from Jews for Jesus, who spouts hatred of Israel. I like that there are some pundits like Rick Sanchez on CNN and Keith Olberman on MSNBC, that produce documents and videos to counter attacks. We have to see both sides of the candidates and the issues.
Here’s a novel idea…
Just WATCH the video and make up your own mind….(instead of just relying on what anyone says about it).
Mccain never had dinners with kalidi….nor bought property from rezko…neither did he sit on boards with ayres..or sit under a racist anti-american rev for 20 yrs… not to mention being attorney for acorn, taught classes for acorn, gave acorn money .. nor did Mccain set acorn up in swing states…farrakhan never called mccain the ‘messiah’ while dozens of muslims stood in ovation…there are red flags going up…left .. right…and center..
Obama makes it a point to talk with and try to understand others points of view. To reason with them, you have to understand where they are coming from. What is that saying about keep your freinds close and your enemies closer?
I am surprised that McCain brought this up. His attachment to Kahlidi are much closer. In 1993, McCain became chairman of the International Republican Institute. He still chairs that respected organization. That same year, Khalidi helped found the Center for Palestine Research and Studies, self-described as “an independent academic research and policy analysis institution” created to meet “the need for active Palestinian scholarship on issues related to Palestine.”
Khalidi was on the board of trustees through 1999.
According to tax returns, the McCain-chaired IRI funded the organization Khalidi founded and served on to the tune of $448,873 in 1998 as first reported by Seth Couter Walls at HuffPo.
Perhaps the readers and the author of this article should read their history. They can begin with those of “The New Historians,” a group of Israeli historians who have published histories of expulsions, terrorism, and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by Israel at the nation’s birth.
The scholars cite declassified Israeli government, military, and diplomatic records as well as eye-witness accounts and press reports, all of which bear witness to Jewish expropriations of Palestinian property, campaigns of ethnic cleansing, and systemic terror attacks against Palestinian/Arab populations in what is now Israel preceding and following 1948.
These scholars include Benny Morris, Ilan Pappé, Avi Shlaim, Tom Segev and Simha Flapan, among many others. Let us note that while some New Historians seem to hew to liberal political views, others–most notably, Benny Morris, hold decidedly conservative views.
What is notable is that even Benny Morris, who subscribes to the nationalist rationale behind the violent expulsion of the Palestinians from their land, has amply documented Israeli/Jewish terror tactics against civilian populations.
It was such Jewish terrorist gangs as the Hagana, the Irgun Z’vai Leumi, and the Stern Gang that helped bring about the Israeli state by targeting British forces, diplomats, civilians, and local Arab populations, thus (a) forcing the British to negotiate away the basis of the Biltmore Resolutions.
Lest one forget, future Israeli leaders Manechan Begin and Yitzhak Shamir began as terrorist guerrilla leaders with the Etzel and the Lehi respectively. Indeed, Shamir authorized the assassination of the United Nations representative in the Middle East, and pointed remarked, “Neither Jewish ethics nor Jewish tradition can disqualify terrorism as a means of combat.”
Let one also cite the statement on September 10, 1945 by the British Secretary of State for the Colonies:
“The young Jewish extremists, the product of a vicious education system, know neither toleration nor compromise; they regard themselves as morally justified in violence directed against any individual or institution that impedes the complete fulfillment of their demands. In a similar spirit their ancestors in the second century B.C. laid waste Palestine until a ravaged countryside and ruined cities marked the zenith of Hasmonaean power. The prototypes of the Stern Group and National Military Organization are the Zealots and Assassins according to whose creed even Jews married to Gentiles were worthy of death in Roman times. These Zealots of today, from Poland, Russia and the Balkans have yet to learn toleration and recognition of the rights of others. As the Foreign Secretary said recently of the Balkans, these people do not understand the meaning of the word democracy. The Jewish Agency may deplore terrorism; but every immoderate speech … the flagrant disregard on the one hand for the authority of Government in maintaining law and order and on the other for the Arab case, the chauvinism and intolerance of their educational system, all contribute to an atmosphere in which the fanatic and the terrorist flourish. The Jewish leaders appear to be deliberately pushing extremism to a point when an explosion can no longer be avoided and do not scruple to use the plight of the Jews in Europe as a main political excuse. There are many Jews who deplore this state of affairs, but the rigidity of the discipline imposed by the political machine effectively discourages criticism except where it has no practical effect on Zionist policy. The Jews, like so much in Europe, need education in toleration and democracy.”
It is therefore disingenuous, dishonest, and more than a little bit of historical denial on the part of the author and her supporters to attack Obama–whatever his merits for the office of president– on his supposed support of “terrorism,” when in fact it was Zionist militants’ use of terrorism that helped bring about and, indeed, maintain Israel the state.
Or are we to assume that in addition to foreign policy ignorance, historical denial, and jaundiced reporting that many Conservatives are in fact blatant hypocrites as well, i.e. It is “okay” if Israel’s founders used terrorism, but not the victims of it.
Please, by all means make your position clear on this.
For those who take their ethics and morality a bit more seriously, I strongly recommend the following works by Conservative Jewish scholar and patriot Benny Morris, all of which adds up to a searing indictment of Israel’s myth of origins, as well as American (and European) complicity:
The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem, 1947-1949, Cambridge University Press, 1989.
Israel’s Secret Wars: A History of Israel’s Intelligence Service, New York, Grove Weidenfeld, 1991.
Israel’s Border Wars 1949-1956: Arab Infiltration, Israeli Retaliation, and the Countdown to the Suez War, Oxford, Clarendon Press, 1993.
1948 and after; Israel and the Palestinians, Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1994.
Righteous Victims: A History of the Zionist-Arab Conflict, 1881-1999, Alfred A. Knopf, 1999.
Correcting a Mistake? Jews and Arabs in Palestine/Israel, 1936-1956, Am Oved Publishers, 2000.
The Road to Jerusalem: Glubb Pasha, Palestine and the Jews. New York: I.B. Tauris, 2003.
The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem Revisited, Cambridge University Press, 2004.
(as editor) Making Israel, University of Michigan Press, 2008.
1948: A History of the First Arab-Israeli War, Yale University Press, 2008.
Let us state for the record that I support Israel’s right to exist–but not its, or its supporters’, wish to white-wash history. Furthermore, I support the right of Rashid Khalidi –a distinguished scholar of both “Conservative” University of Chicago and the supposedly “Liberal” Columbia University–to express his view points, many with which I disagree, but many more of which are based upon a scrupulous reading of the historical sources.
If acolytes of Conservatism chose the road of historical denial, hypocrisy, then they will find themselves on the path to morality’s and history’s DEAD END.
Frankly, putting the story around, if Obama gave this guy 500k you guys will make an even bigger story out of it. Now he was only at the dinner party but McCain was actually funding this guy, who is the greater of the evil if this guy is really an evil. The more the Republicans are using this tactic the more independents like me will vote for Obama.
This is an interesting game. The internet version of the “shout down”…where those seeking to control opinion by force, show up and try to shout down a speaker who wishes to voice an opinion on a topic.
It happens on college campuses across the nation. This is an internet version of the “community organizer” drowning out your opinion. Apparently, someone issued an order for them to come to respond to Jennifer’s article. They were given talking points and issued instructions on what to say..and to swarm like cockroaches, making intelligent discussion impossible.
Welcome to a world filled with community organizers.
The video should be viewed ENTIRELY! not just to the 50 minute mark! Thats right wing rhetoric though-nevermind the leading the point; if something is said that you dont like you think its freakin heresy. I dont care what people say-the formation of Isreal was a bad idea! That caused people, who were already living there, to be completely thrown out of the place they’ve called home for thousands of years. I feel bad for the Isreals and Palestinians that are trying to work together but America is way too one-sided with the argument. Help the people work together! Do not help the one side wipe out the other.
Let’s all get out the pitchforks and torches, folks!
How pathetic is American politics these days?!
I find it disturbing that anyone can point out something that happened years ago, and yet have trouble believing it. Do you not all realize that politicians on either side of the spectrum, no matter what office they seek, are professional liars? Hey guess what, the sky is blue…..
“LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman, who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.” Psalm 15:1-5
May the LORD God, who is in complete control of all these things, bless each and every one of you reading this. May He give you wisdom and reveal Himself to you regardless of the outcome of these elections.
In the name of Jesus, who died for the whole world that we might know the God who loves us,
Amen
Obama the audacity of inexperience-change we don’t need FlamingLIBERAL degradation of Ameican culture and lifestyle-Pelosi, Reid etc have already done enough damage. and 2 years of inaction-gee theyp laced Bernacke and Paulson-and they like Obama-raise capital gians taxes a few months ago-now wants it lower!) allowed the finalcila crisis to develop and the economy to turn from up to way down during their recent tenure-ECONOMY-not the Dems/Obama!
He is the KING of EMPTY PROMISES. McCaio may be mediocre and not a smooth tlaker-but he wil carr this nations and his world leader peers around the world-much more effectively and safely for us
VOTE MCcain or you will be very sorry……
To #209 Katie – I believe you are a CINO – Christian in name only – because I have it on good authority that God is definitely NOT pro-abortion – and that should be the first and only litmus test as to whom you vote for – all the other issues SHOULD fall in line behind that – selfless = defend the defenseless; wallet/401k/job security/home/et al ad nauseum = selfishness. If you’re not a Christian then abortion is just lumped in there with everything else as a relativistic package.
Wow – shocking? Is the video really shocking? Or are McCain supporters still grasping at straws? How about McCain’s nearly $500k contribution to Khalidi? I don’t see that mentioned anywhere. When you don’t have any real content to run on and discuss, you focus solely/lamely on the opponent.
Oh my now how much money did John McCain give to Kahlidi? How much? I can’t hear you how much money did John McCain give to this man? It really scares me to think that you can overlook all the scary associations John McCain has had over the years….but it guess that’s the way you operate with blinders on whatever JMc do is aok….well my pray is along with millions of others that come Nov. 4th 2008 we will have no more of the same….we’re looking for and deserve a change for this country…..
A new generation is beginning to respect, and adopt, my tactics. Vindication is mine!
btw yes we know what McCain did – it has been known since it happened and been repeated here about 100 times = but we don’t know what the O did – that’s the point you are missing – you judge McCain on what he did, but get upset when we want the same courtesy
Self-hating boomer, your name explicitly explains your hate for the pro-Obamas. Y
Why love the others if I hate myself?
As I understand it, some Obama hater spent hours and hours listening to tape of Rev. Wright to come up with the infamous 5 minutes. As anyone heard one single minute of the many, many hours that were not incendiary enough to be noteworthy. Don’t any of you who repeatedly say that Obama sat through 20 years of hate-filled rhetoric want to hear more than the famous 5 minutes? I remember when the story first broke, one honest news medium went to the trouble of asking members of Rev. Wright’s congregation if the 5 minutes were typical of his sermons. Without exception, they said the 5 minutes did not at all sound like the Rev. Wright they knew.
It amazes me how crazy white people get now that there’s a possibility of the US having a black president.
It’s amazing how they always bring up associations but when it comes to Mccain & Bush & their associations it’s swept under the rug. Bush was a close ally of Osama Bin Liden’s family but no one thought that important enough to keep him from the white house. Mccain has associations with Khalidi, Charles Keating, G Gordon Liddy & many others but that’s not keeping them from voting for him. If you are going to judge a man by the company he keeps, it should be equal judgement all the way around. Not just pounding on someone because of the color of their skin. Most people can say all they want that they are not voting for Obama because of his policies but more than 5 out of 12 that’s not voting for him is because of the color of his skin & they just want to find another coward reason other than the truth to cover up why he won’t get their vote. Obama is no more of a terrorist than Bush. Cheney & Mccain.
@215
The difference is in real life you can always get the football team to kick the shit out of them. Anyone willing to use such tactics deserves to be tarred and feathered.
My issue is not that I dont like mccain, so much, its that he’s an idiot, who stands the the same platform that Rudy does, POW POW POW, except in Rudy’s case it was 9/11 blah blah blah, wasn’t it actually announced that he broke under torture and gave up some information-thats important.
Hussein 0sama has been in bed with these anti-Semites for a very long time. This should not be any news to anyone. You vote for an Arab with Arab/Muslim names and what you will get will be views against Israel and against Jews (and against Americans as well—but that just comes with the territory). Why should that surprise anyone? Any Jew voting for Hussein Osama is sealing his/her own fate. Tsk. Tsk.
Thank you! finally someone who stops endlessly criticizing McCain and finally tells us one of Obama’s many secrets. Did you know that Obama kicked the reporters who endorse McCain off his campaign plane? Also, nobody cared that a mannequin of Palin was hung in a noose, but the people who did that to Obama were arrested. Now THAT’S racist against whites.
Remember that Jungle Jam song? “It seems to me, it seems to me, that the more terrorist you know, the more you’re gonna be influenced by their junk!” Obama’s dangerous, guys. watch out!
Didn’t John McCain give this guy over $500K? Why the smear so late in the game? Desperation?
The far lunatic right is at it again. I guess the next thing will be Obama is a space alien.
Far right Republicans only believe what they see and hear on FOX News.
I think one good thing that has come out of this election, is that the racism, prejudice, and ignorance of many Americans has finally come out. I am a pentecostal(evangelical) christian and 100% agree with Katie. I am just so angry at the Republican party and how they have brain-washed evangelicals. As we learned from the the 2000/2004 elections, the republican party has convinced evangelicals that only thing they should vote on is abortion and gay marriage because that is the “christian thing to do”, as if nothing else matters. What about loving your neighbor as yourself(especially your enemies), charity, and forgiveness, which is most of what Jesus talked about. The other thing that makes no sense is how the country unilaterally sides with Israel on every issue, as if the Palestinian people are not human as well and don’t want the best for their people. I think Obama understands this issue is a two way street and the only way to solve it is to stop taking sides and understand where folks are coming from. Khalidi is an expert on the Palestinian people’s situation, and if you want to understand the Palestinian perspective, he would be the person to talk to. The other thing. People are forgetting that Barack is an academic. Anyone who has ever studied at a university, understands how easy it is for you to dine with people that you disagree with. That is the whole point of the university environment to bring people from all different backgrounds and perspectives to foster mutual understanding. America needs to educate itself and rid us of these deep prejudices that have plagued us for generations, which the conservative right continues to perpetuate.
Been wanting to throw this out there for a long time … first, I am a rightwing, leftwing, conservative, liberal, middle-of-the-roader.
1. I believe that those who accuse other American Citizens of being un-American, un-patriotic, etc., are themselves a prime example of same. Unless you are ready to accuse someone of sedition, failure to respect their right to speak their mind is the ultimate un-American act.
2. Also, when it comes to wrong doing or inappropriate behaviour, only one of the candidates was censured for his shoddy role in the Savings and Loan Crisis … this being the guy that 40% of the American people want to get them out of the fix that he and his buddies have gotten us into … the fox in the hen house as it were.
3. I used to really admire John McCain … but his behaviour in this campaign and 04, have shown him to be a petty, lying, conniving, underhanded angry demagogue apparently has made the decision that he will do anything, including destroy his integrity, to be elected Pres. Who’d a thunk it. Man, I’m afraid if McCain had been in Kennedy’s place during the Bay of Pigs, we might not be having this or any blog. Yah gotta have a cool head when you’ve got your finger on the red button and a guy like Putin foolin around … we don’t want to trade one-shoot first cowboy for another now do we.
4. Finally, and I’m sure I will be excoriated by the McCain gang…I think that a good case can be made that McCain’s choice of an un-qualified Sarah Palin has the potential to be one of the most significant breeches of national security in our history… he knowingly picked someone who was not ready, even though his medical history and age would indicate that he choose someone ready one minute after he is sworn in.
to Katie and all others concerned,
I don’t know a whole lot about McCain, except that I admire him for choosing Sarah. I don’t know her personally, but my in-laws do, who are God-fearing, loving honest people. I also know a good friend of Sarah’s and someone who’s worked around her for the past couple of years. I live in the great state of Alaska and have been under her governing. No matter what the media tells you against her, please don’t believe it. We’ve experienced a lot of good under her governing. Know she is a woman of integrity who truly is out there for YOUR best interest, not her own. She is loving, wise, gracious, confident, and lives what she says. She would not raise issues against someone else unless she truly thought they were a deep concern to the American People. She has more experience than I believe Obama has in governing and standing up for what she believes in. I respect her greatly. I really don’t know that much about Obama and Biden except that they stand against values I hold dear. please consider voting for McCain and Palin- they really do have integrity and can be trusted.
Islam has won!!!!!!!!!
Long Live Obama! Destroyer of Capitalism! Islam will rule the USA! Give Allah the Praise oh saints of Islam!!!!!!
To Tom H
I too am a Christian and just as God provides every person a right to choose I believe we as people also should provide that right. God is the judge not you or me. Abortion is a personal choice just like any other sin.
Kalidi was such a bad person that McCain gave him $448,000.
McCain is two-faced.
Obama destroyer of capitalism.Do you call capitalism a ..A 700 billion dollar socialist bailout of banks and mortgage houses..Your fricken psycho moron!
Obama has said that an Orthodox Jew who is a congressman from Chicago, will be his White House chief of staff. The lies about Israel will not stick.
McCain has named the former sec of education of Arizona as his Sec of Education. Arizona is near the bottom on education, adult education, SAT scores, and every other way to measure successful education.
Hippocrites… with every one judging , how about asking McCaine why he gave this same man over 400.000 dollars……if yoy dont wwant to vote for someone just be honest about it and justsay i like or dont like the candidate. But stop being a hippocrite and judging someone else when our canditate has done the same thing even more……..I wish i could now change my vote……I made a mistake voting for Mc Cain with other hippocrites like us .
Why are the Republican so self-righteous and quick to judge their fellow men?
If Sen. Obama ought to be condemned for his past association with Khalidi, Ayers, or Rezco, what does that say of Jesus who walked and dined till the end with his two-timing disciple Judas, or with fallen Magdalen for that matter?
And we are a nation of Christians! (?)
Too bad not enough people dont know that Mcstain give this “terrorist” over $400,000 dollars. lol Doesnt matter anyway cuz mcstain is losing.
I really believe that Barack is the anti-christ. Run all of the letters of his name together and divide by 3 and you get 666! I don’t care to be a socialist!!!! And I don’t care for him or his wife at all!
escuse my typing
This is the most interesting thing I’ve read in a long time. The sad thing about it, you can see it coming.
I have always heard about this democracy countdown. It is interesting to see it in print. God help us, not that we deserve it.
How Long Do We Have?
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
‘A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.’
‘A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.’
‘>From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.’
‘The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years’
‘During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
3. from courage to liberty;
4. from liberty to abundance;
5. from abundance to complacency;
6. from complacency to apathy;
7. from apathy to dependence;
8. from dependence back into bondage’
Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:
Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: ‘In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare…’ Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the ‘complacency and apathy’ phase of Professor Tyler’s definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation’s population already having reached the ‘governmental dependency’ phase.
If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal’s and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.
If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.
WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE,
ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE
Isn’t the same guy that McCain gave 1/2 a million dollar ($500,000) a few years ago.As I remember correctly JOHN McCAIN,yes,JOHN McCAIN from Arizona gave this guy’s organization that amount of money from the US Treasury. So why to bring this situation against Obama when JOHN McCAIN,yes,JOHN McCAIN from Arizona dealt with this guy before and in a very handsome way.Com’on people get with it.Tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. This includes Republicans also.Get it.Duh….
So let me get this straight: this is the same guy that the organization John McCain was chairing gave $448,000 to? And John McCain spent 26 years in politics and hasn’t once rubbed shoulders with anybody unsavoury? But at the same time he has the greatest reverence for Dick Cheney? Please.
to Steve, 238,
-just like murder is a choice, or stealing is a choice,- ?? We all have that option, but there has to be limits on some of our choices because they affect others. abortion in particular. arent you glad you weren’t aborted? please reconsider your thinking.
Can this justfy why John Mcain gave Kahlidi $400,000…. is that to appease him or just bankrolling his efforts? Ask Mcain to exolain. Is it just the pot calling kettle black?
I noticed in a post that someone said Sirhan Sirhan killed President Kennedy, That is wrong,he killed Robert Kennedy after his speech in a primary in California.
Hey Obama trolls let’s remember this is the same Obama who just had his seven-year old “greatest hits” released this week where he was comparing the USA to Nazi Germany, ragging on the Constitution (always funny how the libs are always so concerned about til they aren’t), and saying the Warren court wasn’t near radical enough. Yet Michele Bachmann’s the McCarthyite, OK……………….
Joe Biden’s a gaffe-a-minute (which is why four days before the election you can’t find him on a map) yet Sarah Palin’s the unqualified one, OK……………………Speaking of, she had a loose association AT BEST with an organization that had anti-government leanings, so what? Did they blow up the Pentagon or plot to blow up a serviceman’s ball? Besides, anyone of us exactly feeling Joe Dandy about our gubmint these days?
Barry has all the answers on the economy……sure, if he has Clinton there helping him. Hey, what happened to this great change herrs Pelousy and (Wimp)Reid were supposed to bring us in 06?
Any PROOF that McCain gave Khalidi all this money HIMSELF other than “media reports”? Or is this another case of what my dumbass jurassic former Speaker Tom Foley liked to call “The proof doesn’t matter, it’s the seriousness of the charge”? Meanwhile you’re all Chris Matthews for Barry real proof regardless. Hell, even if he was the one who shot JFK, MLK, AND RFK, carried out the Beirut bombings, and was the surviving 911 hijacker you STILL couldn’t wait to vote for him could you?
Yep, here’s your future under Barry: My legions faithful until death I summon to thy court/And as you perish each of you shall scream as you are sought. You get what you deserve, idiots.
If you people don’t do anything else vote for a Republican House and Senate so the government will have it’s check and balances. This is very important to our freedom.
To all people who keep asking for LA times to release the tape – need to take a chill pill. Fox News and Sean like to start trouble.
What is this fascination with quite accomplished university professors who, some claim, had some brief ecounter with Obama? The schools they are teaching in are some of the best in the country. Don’t you think universities knows something about their faculty members? You’d be glad if your children were intelligent enough to be taught by these educators. Stop bad mouthing valuable people and bad mouthing Obama. Our president talks to PLO, as he should. Petty points on the part of Republicans trying to pin something on Obama. The idea is clear: Obama isn’t patriotic enough. Come off it, Is Bush patriotic?
Since when has uncritical support for Israel been the litmus test for an American’s patriotism? The fact that Jews suffered at the hands of Germany does NOT give the state of Israel carte blanche to pursue whatever ends it sees fit. Not is criticism of Israel anti-Semitism. Yes Khalidi is “extreme” in his pronouncements. Look how extreme Americans became after the one attack on 9/11. Palestinians have had a half century’s troubles at the hands of poor little Israel. To reiterate: Israel is not America’s 51st. state and should not be accorded special treatment. (Better actually, given the aid we pour into that land.)
Someone will have to explain how OBAMA is any more qualified than PALIN?? A first term US Senator from chicago….. Hmmm. Yup sounds qualified to me. Palin isn’t qualified because she is a governor??
Here is a stupid question,
What elected office was the Great Bill Clinton when he ran for president?
Steve – hey, we are not talking about ‘people’ as in everyone, we’re talking about professing Christians who (should) know that abortion is wrong, probably (do) know that abortion is wrong, definitely (should) know that taking a life is murder, and yet willingly taking the chance that God will somehow excuse you for that – because it feels good to vote for someone who will help the little guys….it’s not just an abstract act of voting for a Democrat (the platform remember, not the candidate), it’s the willful disobedience to something you know God does not approve of, voting in a candidate who will enact the Freedom of Abortion Act, appoint even 1 SC justice to invalidate traditional marriage, and somehow think that God is going to bless this country with hope and change – that is delusional and being deceived. You are completely free to vote for whomever you want, just don’t claim that there is a Christian reason for it. God also said YOU feed, YOU provide, You defend, nothing about the Govt. What do you tithe? Where do you serve the homeless? Who do you pray with? I would rather err on the side of the defenseless, rather than get another black mark in my book, ya know…Sorry this is off-topic
Get a grip! Obama has said repeatedly that he doesn’t agree with Khalidi. You can have friends who you don’t agree with. Just because he didn’t have a conniption fit, like you would have, doesn’t mean he’s not in line with whatever it is you believe.
And frankly, what Khalidi says reflects the position of most mainstream Palestinian Americans, and they have rights too (much as you all would like to see them silenced). He’s an important and well-educated scholar. It seems like you are offended because they don’t like it when you occupy their land, shoot their children and destroy their communities. It seems like you want Israel to be able to do whatever it wants with no repercussions, because Israel is a Jewish state and you’re Jewish and there was the Holocaust and since Jews suffered in the Holocaust, now they can do whatever they want no matter who is harmed by it. The world doesn’t work that way.
You people are a disgrace to the Jews who really did suffer because of anti-Semitism.
This story of Khalidi is so ridiculous, McCain/Palin party are losing and they don’t know what to do, except smear Obama anyway possible. Palin keep throwing words out at the media regarding Obama, tell her to go home and stay there. Khalidi has not done anything wrong, look where he teaching, one of the best Universities in U.S.
Did you guys happen to see the new video released today with John McCain meeting Anna Nicole Smith and telling her how much he loves her show. John has been a bad boy!!! Video can be seen at http://www.theinsider.com/news/1307005_Video_Anna_Nicole_Smith_John_McCain_Meet
Why all the excitement about Obama’s ties to Khalidi? He is the same Khalidi that McCain’s group gave $800,000!
Is this liberal media bias or right wing blindness?
OBAMA IS MISUNDERSTOOD BECAUSE HE IS A GOOD GUY! GOOD GUYS HUG AND SHAKE HANDS WITH THEIR ENEMIES AND PEOPLE THEY DON’T AGREE WITH. MANY REAL CHRISTIANS DO THE SAME THING. THE ONE THING ABOUT THIS MAN THAT HAS IMPRESSED ME THE MOST IS HIS GENROSITY TOWARD IGNORANT PEOPLE, HE IS EVEN KIND TOWARD McCAN’T AND PALIN. WHILE EVERYONE THAT IS AGAINST HIM TRIES TO DESTROY THE PICTURE THE WORLD HAS OF THIS BLACK MAN IT ONLY ADDS TO HIS PRESENCE.
Was Geraldine Ferraro qualified to be president in 1984? She must of been, since she wasn’t torn apart by the media….. oh wait, She had a “D” next to her name which makes you qualified automatically.
I was Republican until this race. I’m stunned at McCain/Palin attacks, often outright distortions (do they think people won’t fact check, that we can’t read for ourselves?) which made me have to admit McCain will sell his soul for Presidency. He doesn’t care about us — he wants to win. His judgement on everything has been less than one a President should exemplify and every ploy near backfires. He HAS been erratic! Why can’t we be realistic anymore?? Joe the Plumber? Not even a licensed plumber, makes $40K/yr, and would benefit from Obama tax policy. He hasn’t even paid his taxes!! and we’re all supposed to identify with such a sad gimmick? Now they want us to believe, hook, line and sinker, this brief interaction from how long ago? If Kalidi was such a threat and so repugnant, why did McCain give him nearly half million dollars himself?–so much less than the figure being thrown about Fox News as tied to Obama? I’m just so sick of the hypocrisy of my own party. If Obama’s daughter was unmarried and pregnant—Sean Hannity would still be gloating over what despicable parents the Obamas were—but it’s OK for his darling Sarah. What a joke….one that goes on and one. I’m ashamed of what this campaign has done to the rest of us who aren’t buying it anymore. Don’t even want to vote—let it be in protest to a shameful campaign and this Kalidi thing is just another case in point.
If this guy is so awful, then why did McCain contribute $450K to his organization?
See this article:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/28/mccain-funded-work-of-pal_n_138606.html
So…guilt by association…then Bush must be a terrorist too …since he doesn’t think it is important to pursue Osama Bin Laden and he has enabled the growth of Al Quida and is responsible for deaths of our young military men and women, and the innocent people of Iraq…And since McCain supports Bush 90% of the time…guilt by association…he must be a terrorist too.
Bruce Becker – You forgot to mention that the O wants the Az Gov for Sec of Education – too bad for McCain but brilliant for the O???
I could go through every bit of some of this mess, but I only chose to read the comments from people that have at least a little common since. I did read one about someone NOT believing in the Bible or GOD. I can only pray for this individual. Pray the GOOD LORD lets him live long enough to get his life straight.
One more thing. Some of you people need to listen to more of the news. The suits & all the other attire that Sarah Palin is wearing now, goes back after the election is over. So please get things right before you post something. I am a Christian. I wanted Hillary to win. And I think Obama & his camp did her very dirty.
You people really think her & Bill are going to vote for Obama??? Get real. They despise him. I don’t agree with everything McCain says, but to me he’s the LESSER of the two evils. I will definitely not have a part of putting Barrack Obama in the White House. Has nothing to do with race. Has everything to do with principles & morals.
I still believe people should work for a living. I don’t think other people should have money taken away from them just because they have worked harder in their lives. Would you want your “WEALTH” taken from you & spread around??? If you will be honest with yourself; you would see the answer would be NO.
And now Obama keeps changing the numbers of the middle class person. It’s already changed from yesterday. And even Joe Biden made the statement in front of thousands of people saying Obama knew he wasn’t ready to be President. Can you imagine what Obama thought when he heard that??? But Joe was just telling the truth.
I just pray the LORD intervenes & John McCain comes from behind & wins this. Some of the people on here don’t even know the facts of anything. They are just spewing with hatred. My message is not about hatred. Everyone talks abou the war & bringing our men & women home. Why not ask some of these people how they feel. I have. And everyone of them that I’ve talked to say the same thing.
They were NOT forced to go & serve their country. They are doing it for the love of their country & for the love of their borthers & sisters here in America. They are fighting a war on terror. They are trying & are doing a wonderful job of keeping us safe here. Can you people NOT appreciate & care about that??? Wake up America. Don’t put someone in the White House that doesn’t even care about this country.
Obama’s wife made the statement in her 1st live interview; that she had NEVER been proud to be an American until now. Then she tried to back out of it. But the people that were listening have & will never forget those cutting words. McCain & Palin may not be perfect; but they won’t tear our great country apart. I truly believe that.
You cant expect much from people anymore. The $448,000 that McCain sent his way is hush hush because there was too much ground being lost and any recognition would just further discredit the old koot and his airhead barbiedoll VP wannabe.
By pinning the guilt only on Obama it makes his actions evil and slanted. But McCain’s action of his grant?????? It was an act of what….generosity? Community? What load of crap could Republican’s come up with.
doublestandard, Obama’s camp has paid in excess of $500,000 for food on his campaign. Apparently the Ritz-Carlton charges a lot for food as well. Wasn’t that the place or one similiar Obama stayed/worked out at instead of shaking hands of our real heroes, allied soldiers in Iraq?
For those who are still clinging to the idea of those not accepting/supporting Obama due to skin color is, suffice to say, ignorant.
Worse, supporting the man due to his race is truly the end of rational thought. Honestly. Obama even made a comment about race when the late Bernie Mac was doing his act at an Obama fundraiser this summer. Mr. Mac never discussed race! Obama did though when entering stage left..
Sen. Obama is making the ads, “Make history this Nov 4th”. What do you suppose he means? Vote for the most inexperienced Presidential candidate in modern U.S. history? Nominate a successive President with a prior cocaine addiction? Vote for a President who’s gifted at no sport? Vote for a guy who is more like, “Teflon Don” regarding scrutiny? Vote for a guy who’s on the cover of Men’s Health magazine though is a closet smoker?
If Oklamhoma’s former Rep. JC Watts was running, I’d be 100% for his campaign. Well balanced, intelligent and not a “man who associates with everybody to find the true meaning of what’s wrong in America” adage. Paraphrasing that comment but someone actually made a comment reflecting that! Moooooo….
Individuals comparing Obama and McCain’s associates is ridiculous. It’s similiar to comparing McCain and Obama’s military record. You needn’t read, but glance at the associate’s Obama is tied to in Jerome Corsi’s, “Obama Nation” or David Fredosso’s, “The Case Against Barack Obama..” Oooh, conservative authors, they must be lying. Take a gander and find out for yourself.. the same disease tens of millions of Obama supporters AREN’T DOING! Or if you needn’t want to read, read the details appended to the pictures.. for the information is there as well.
Like many, I’m unaffiliated. To support a party 100% is, to me, misguided. Yet, the risk-taker Obama has voted (when he has voted, minus the 130 + times he voted “Present” in difficult bills) 97% Democratic. Quiet the pioneer..
His rebuttals of “McCain/Palin camp accuse me of being a Socialist”.. tell us how you are not? The guy glosses over EVERYTHING.
“Bring back the Clinton years” is what someone posted as well. I recommend reading William “Buzz Patterson’s, “Dereliction of Duty”. It’s a quick read and gives you a perspective of ‘ol slick Willy & the wombat that is Hillary.
Is it possible that the LA Times omitted the article because it really had no relevance? Or maybe the the TIMES didn’t want to embarass McCain since the organization he sits on gave Khalidi’s organization $488,000. It’s amazing how both McCain and Palin are such a stupendous pair of hypocrites. It’s incredible how Governor Palin has repeatedly attempted to smear Senator Obama concerning Bill Ayers; while maintaining closure concerning her and her husband’s direct assoication with “AIP” Alaska’s Independent Party. McCain and Palin are the poster children why people living in glass houses shouldn’t throw bricks!
Lastly, I don’t need a “tax break”. I’m a proud American who has fought tooth and nail, using my G.I. Bill to obtain my education and be where my family and I are presently. I needn’t a handout or any Government intervention in my day-to-day. For those who are looking forward to this “perk”, it’s only the beginning of Government in our business and in their back pocket.
The Feds taking over our financial, vying for health markets as well, capitalism and free market will go way of the dodo.
In Canada, air traffic control systems are contracted out. The equipment used is state-of-the-art, cutting edge stuff. The U.S., it being a Federal entity still uses out-of-date 80′s equipment with more and more aircraft, near misses occurring. Disgruntled employees who earn a pay raise by their time in that position, not their merit is truly disheartening. Let alone dangerous. This is 1 example of 1,000′s where Federal inability to keep up, motivation is bare minimum is present. It’ll be bloated moreso with a Sen. Obama Presidency in many arenas.
There’s been more murders in Chicago than our soldiers in Iraq this year! Look it up. Great job elected officials (all Demos in Chicago BTW)! Now Obama’s going to protect the nation… ):
Looks like Jennifer Rubin is “running interference” for John McCain. Why else would she neglect to mention John McCain’s praise for Khalidi as a moderate voice who rejects the PLO and at least $500,000 financial support for his organization? The blatant cover ups for John McCain and Sarah Palin by the mainstream media are unbelievable! Contrast the coverage of the Acorn non-story versus the fact that McCain’s campaign has contracted Nathan Sproul’s company for voter registration. Yes this is the same Nathan Sproul accused of voter suppression and fraud in several states during the last election and supposedly under investigation by the Dept. of Justice (yeah right). Then there was Marc Jacoby in California who got caught registering people as Republicans because Steve Poisner, head of McCain’s campaign in California, paid him $5 per Republican registration. I don’t know what Repugs could do, short of offing Obama, to sink any lower.
To djo (post #121)
Quote: “…oh and also the Bible states homosexuality is an abomination, ( obamaination)McCain is pro-life, and the sanctity of marriage. ”
You keep insisting that you are a Christian and will vote “the Bible”, yet you stoop to cheap, racially laced, name calling. Additionally, you make a weak attempt to link McCain to the sanctity of marriage. However, it is widely known that he has had affairs and is divorced. While this is no reason to vote for or against a candidate, it points to the irrational arguments typically made by extreme fundamentalist Christians.
By closing your mind to anyone who doesn’t sound just like you, you are missing the wonderful lessons God/life has for us in the words of others. Only by eliminating backwards, isolating, blind beliefs can we address each other with respect and graciousness.
In my experience, extreme views lead to egotisical chest beating and hatred of anything that is slightly out of your limited experience.
Reading the Bible is fine, but go out among various peoples and FEEL God’s presence there, too!
The Rep. party has had since April when all this was published in the paper. McCain party puts bits here and there together and make it into
something that just is not there. IF THEY HAD COLD HARD PROOF THEY WOULD
HAVE DONE IT IN THE VERY BEGINNING AND GOT RID OF OBAMA 7 MONTHS AGO.
Now that McCain is behind they come up with this. McCain gave $448.000.00
Let’s see! Preacher, Ayers, Preacher, Ayers, and so on, then socialist,
Now Mr. Kalidi, STOP! People out here are tired of the Rep. Party going down this road. THE REP. PARTY IS TURNING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AGAINST THEIR OWN PARTY.
I HATE this Iraq war. The US Government had no right to go to war. Iraq did
not have anything to do with 9-11. US Government should have taken everything the US government had and went into Afghanistan.
We will never win in Iraq, 1. Unless The Government can solve a 3,000
year old Shite and Sunni religion, and The Kurds sitting on the biggest
oil fields. US GOVERNMENT WILL NOT WIN. I believe the government is there to protect the oil fields and the Oil Companies great wealth.
When The US Government leaves, Shite, Sunni and Kurds will go back to the
way they fought before. Iraq wants the US out of their country.
Here’s a Fact! No matter which party gets in. We the people will not
get what they are saying. There’s no money for it. This I know and as
a 68 year old white mother of three, and I have done my own investagating
of both McCain and Obama. My vote is for OBAMA. Which I have done in early voting. God Bless our Country and May God lead our next Leader in
the right direction for all the people of this great country.
Please don’t try to make politicians out to be honest hearted people politicians are politicians because they excel at stretching the truth (The political correct wording for lying) Sarah Palin did it Mcain did it Obama did it and Biden did it. And you know what we made it that way. We spend so much time trying to prove our views right. We are willing to listen and vote for anybody whose views match our own and belittle those that do not.
So this lecture was basically about the failure of the Palestinians to overcome their internal divisions and form a functioning government?
He referred to Hamas’s “horrible bombing campaign.”
Yet called Israeli control of the West Bank and Gaza an “occupation.”
Shocking. Shocking.
He also happens to be of Palestinian ethnicity, and his views are decidedly pro-Palestinian.
Shocking.
Apparently a well-respected academic.
Also, he’s a member of the National Advisory Council of the U.S. Interreligious Committee for Peace in the Middle East. “Founded in 1987, the U.S. Interreligious Committee for Peace in the Middle East represents 2,500 American Jews, Christians and Muslims, including prominent national leaders of all three communities. The Committee carries on programs nationwide of dialogue, education and advocacy in support of U.S. policies to achieve comprehensive and lasting Arab-Israeli-Palestinian peace.”

What’s the plot here? What should I find scandalous?
Oh… I know..
It’s on the tape! The tape that they won’t show us!
It’s very convenient that we don’t have a tape, because then we can persist with rumors and innuendo. A SECRET tape has much more potential. Any evil scheming you want to imagine could be on that tape. And we’ll just be left to speculate.
Luckily , journalists have to maintain the integrity of the promises they make to protect their sources.
If that’s why there’s no tape, then fine. So let the conspiracy theories fly.
Judith Miller at the NY Times spent 3 months in prison for not revealing her source in the Plame case. And it wasn’t some liberal schemer she was protecting, it was White House weasel Scooter Libby.
But protecting a source is not a choice in journalism, it’s a duty.
Meanwhile, all this just goes to prove that Obama..
Uhmmm…
Well..
BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA HAS A STRANGE NAME!
(be afraid)
Five days to the election, folks. Keep up the good work.
these comments are from ACORN people who are paid to swamp sites like this – please moderate and wipe them out – it is annoying to have to put up with this. of course, it is also disrespectful to jennifer rubin. obamascum is a dangerous and very deceitful, evil dolt, his vp biden is either brain damaged, drunk or wholly deranged. i am looking forward to americans refusing to vote him in, the last thing we need here is a foreign dirtbag thug.
You know the socialism thing wont work it hasn’t worked in over 150 yrs. The fact is the U.S.A has a mixed socialist capitalist undertone to it anyway. F.D.R was said to be a “socialist” and how did the American people treat him? 4 terms in office. To bad he died of cancer. Probably would have died of old age in office if that didn’t happen.
Just reported on F.O.X Obama and Palin are extraterrestrials couple living secretly on earth.
I can prove it but the L.A times wont release the tape.
To #217 Josh………if you have the time for research or are interested in history, you will find that the times are no differently nutty politics than they ever were. I read the other day that someone put an ad in the Phil. newspaper before the first election, that Jefferson was ” the son of an Indian squaw and his father was a mullato son of a b****, and have seen old newspaper cartoons that are very derogatory to certain people. The Irish are one example. I am almost 7o, so have seen much worse rhetoric in my time. The race issue is the only difference now, but if they break this ceiling that may be gone. If you search for the last election that McCain ran in, you will find horrible ads against his wife and daughter. By who? The same people who are running his campaign now. He sold his soul to them so he could have his last chance at the Presidency.
I have a large family, one child of which is disabled. You would think that being a woman and having a similar backstory would make me really bond with Sarah Palin. I don’t vote that way. I have found too many things that show that she has been hypocritical about herself, and that she is no different than the other pols. While watching comedian Craig Ferguson one night, he told of how she and her handlers had contacted his show to try to get her on when she became Governor. She has been positioning herself for greater things. If her husband doesn’t like this country the way it is and wants to secede………..what do they have in mind? How exactly do they want to change it? Never mind Obama.
As for my Christianity, I have been in a church since birth. I hope I have grown during all of these years and do not believe everything my pastors teach or espouse. After much agonizing thought, I have decided that since abortion has to be the choice of the mother, her sin is not mine but between her and God. Just because there is a law that says it is legal, doesn’t mean women have to do it. I remember the days when it wasn’t legal and even Christian women had abortions or did them themselves. Also, if we believe that it is murder, than we need to start prosecuting every woman who has one. Who wants to do that?
If McCain is elected, I will suck it up like I did with Bush, and then try to help elect someone else. If Obama is elected, his detractors should do the same. Its not a monarchy……its four to eight years. If people are dumb enough to vote a president in who is a total doofus, twice……and not feel guilty about it, we should have the same chance lol
Hmmm… President Carter also called Israel’s response to Palestine “like apartheid”. McCain chaired a committee that donated over $400,000 to an organization headed by Khalidi— the same Khalidi you are up in arms about because Obama attended a dinner for him.
The truth is, that while the PLO and Hamas etc… have committed many nefarious acts (in my opinion), so has the official gov’t of Israel. It’s not as black & white as the author of this article wants to make it.
Is anyone concerned that the Annenberg Foundation that funded Bill Ayers, are bog supporters and financial contributors to McCain. Stop trying to smear out of desperation. Obviously, the author would like the reader to believe that Obama is capable of “going into bed with terrorists”, another way of making people think of Obama as a terrorist. Does anyone really buy this **it.
@ 7, VIVO:
Vivo? Really? “Alive”?
LARRY, IS THAT YOU?
I thought you’ve died ca. 10 years ago, but I saw your interview with Ahmadinejad and said: no-no, it’s not a mummy, it’s our old appeaser!
Good to have your back! How was it, on the other side?
P.S. Are the CNN finances so bad that you have to troll (sorry, to astroturf) for Obama?
@8, BORIS
1. Greetings to Doris.
2. Is “to promote democracy in Gaza” (McCain) and “to promote socialism in America” (Obama) THE SAME for you?……. (get your pills)
Quite a number of you – and I’ve been reading the comments from the bottom up – have claimed McCain gave almost a half million dollars to Khalidi.
Where is your proof of such a thing. I’ve heard this is not true.
Medved on his radio show was talking with a guest who said that McCain was on a committee, I think, and it gave the four hundred thousand to someone for the purposes of polling Palestinians, I think. But the money went to some other individual. NOT Khalidi.
So please. Give evidence of what you’re claiming. You’re distorting the truth at the very least. McCain would in NO way associate with or share the views of a man like Khalidi. Obama is a different story. He’s “at home” with this kind of man.
cfbleachers – “Welcome to a world filled with community organizers.”
Even a community organizer occasionally does something productive and positive. The mindless, blind faith Obamatons I’ve read here bring nothing of value to America. Although I could agree to “community organizer” in it’s most devolved and narcissistic form.
I have copied your initial post and printed it on parchment in order to share it with my children’s children when they ask me what happened to America. I will store it as a magnificent scroll ready to be unfurled as a reminder of a time when wisdom was highly regarded and sought after. A time since past.
In reply to all the posters whose names I don’t care to recall:
There is no comparison between McCain’s ties and Obama’s to this man. Here is a summary.
The group who got the $500k grant (in ’98?)- Center for Palestine Research and Studies http://www.pcpsr.org/ While an earlier version of this organization was founded by Khalidi and others, he does not sit on the Board of Directors, and apparently had no connection to the group when it received the grant. They are dedicated to several activities, including research and policy analysis, empirical surveys and public opinion polls, task forces and study groups- basically a think tank.
The group who gave the $500k grant- International Republican Institute (IRI) http://www.iri.org/ An organization created by Congress, and funded by Congress, to promote democracy around the world. Comprised of 26 board members, including Congressmen, ambassadors, and other governmental and business leaders. From past experience, I can tell you grants are awarded by committee not by one member- i.e. McCain in this case.
The IRI and the PCPRS parted ways in 2000. The follwing link is a much more credible story than that of the huffpost and other blogs of its sort- http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=38429
Now, can you please tell me how McCain’s tenuous ties to this man are worse than Obama’s?
215 cfbleachers,
You are spot on about the shout down tactics. Save your pearls for people who want to think. I wonder how many of the screamers actually did their homework or just copied the answers from person next to them?
In any case, both candidates are flawed. Obama is lacking in character and truthfulness. His comprehension of economics and his economic policy laughable. An Obama administration will be a disaster. McCain gets higher marks on character, but his economic policies are better only because he wants to maintain what is left of the framework of capitalism – which has delivered more wealth and prosperity to more people than any other economic system in the history on mankind. Why do you think the rest of the world is trying to shed the yoke of socialist government and embrace capitalism?
In fact, both candidates, along with the wing-nuts in Congress like Reid, Pelosi, Dodd and Frank, make the case for LESS government. Government screws up everything it touches. I believe Thomas Jefferson said that liberty declines as government grows. But then again, I speculate that Thomas Jefferson could not get elected today.
Take care everone.

who went undercover at a fundraising event where the entertainment by a troupe of young boys – some no older than 7 – also performed at the Khalidi party a year earlier. This is what Debbie witnessed the troupe doing:
The boys put these flags in the hands of three: American, Israeli and British – and proceeded to simulate shooting/beheading them. They then wrapped their heads with red scarves to represent bloody/headless corpses, and took the flags from their hands and stomped on them.
We don’t know if this was how Khalidi and Obama were entertained, but if they were, it’s a good reason to keep the video under lock and key.

Those guys don’t give anyone hope, they just give any decent person the creeps, especially when you try and lie your way into respectability.
In a Carter’s Second Term (if Barack Obama becomes president) … What role will this association of President Obama’s play – would this guy become our chief adviser to the Middle East … or just the ambassador to the Palestinians?

Quite a radical view from Edmund Jenks that we should have an ambassador to the Palestinians.
Meanwhile, it seems we had better set up direct flights from Columbia University to Guantanamo Bay.
If associating with this guy means you share his views, then all of his students and all of the faculty and staff at Columbia must be guilty of whatever this guy is guilty of.
Despite him calling Hamas’s bombings “horrible,” and despite his work with the U.S. Interreligious Committee for Peace in the Middle East (round them up, too), he’s clearly an evil man whose evil contaminates anyone he gets near…
I have not seen or read much of anything about Khalidi, so I don’t know what is true or false, but in the end, it’s not the original “crime” that gets you, but the subsequent cover-up
To cfbleachers: Your comments are always a must-read for me. Thank you for taking the time to express your views.

Obama’s aunt is a illegal immigrant who received welfare and houseing allowance for 5 years. Why could not Obama shared his wealth with her instead of the selfish tax payers? Why is he so dense and stupid that he always claims I did not know. This dense idiot can not be commander in chief
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of Israel…
To both Democrats and Republicans,
All politicians have learned to support Israeli interests if they want to be elected. That’s why we fight Israel’s wars in the Middle East and that’s why we’re hated. If you want to finally take this country back you’ve got to vote for an independent.

Let’s ELECT John McCain … Commander-In-Chief of the United States.
Looks like the the anti-Mac bombardment is slacking. I wonder where the lemmings are swarming now. Truely something to witness.
What was Obama supposed to do, run up and dismember the guy to satiate your bloodlust? You talk show ditto heads are grasping at straws if you think this is going anywhere! At least with Wright, he attended the church for decades, not a speech or two in Khalidi’s case.
So Khalidi struck at the core of a tragically deadly policy forced on us over 60 years ago by racist protestants who feared the hordes of Jewish immigrants hitting American shores. The Exodus wasn’t about returning Jews to their homeland; it was about keeping them from invading ours. It’s about time we fix this mess. How many of you idiots would stand for Mexico instigating Hispanics into take over California, or to mistreat the white residents? But we have no problem doing it someplace else. And the reason the Republican party will never recover.
285. TROLLBUSTER:
“@ 7, VIVO:

No.
Abro:
” How many of you idiots would stand for Mexico instigating Hispanics into take over California, or to mistreat the white residents? But we have no problem doing it someplace else. And the reason the Republican party will never recover.”
Mexico already is, by encouraging illegals and special accomodations for them. Trouble with your analogy, most the Jews in Israel were not American citizens or came from here and unlike the Mexicans, had no mother country to return to.
I love Cons, you scrape away the superficial neo-con pro Israel idiocy and you end up the old fashioned redneck reactionaries, the true base
As far Khalidi comments on the tape, what he says is not radical. What he says is true. I mean anyone with a brain knows that the U.S. has always sided with Israel and against the Palestinians for years. Every honest person wether Democrat or Republican knows that the U.S. has never really been serious about supporting the Palestinians with getting their land back. We have to remember people that Israel are occupiers. The Palestinians had their land taken away from them . The British army ordered them out of their houses and gave the land to the Israelis because they wanted to repatriate them. Was that fair to the Palestinians? Can no one understand why the Palestinians would fight to get their land back? And so if Khalidi expresses his interest in supporting the Palestinians cause in getting their homeland back, how can that be radical? And as far as his comments on how Jewish Americans influence American politics, is that a surprise? If you would consider that every Democrat and Republican that runs for the Presidency has to make the comment that he “supports Israel”. When have you ever heard any candidate make the comment that they “support Palestine”
It just amazes me to hear the people on the right go on with their falsehoods about who is a friend of Israel and who isn’t. Even the majority of Israeli people support a peace deal with the Palestinians, returning their land to them.
As far as what Jennifer Rubin is say consider this factual story that is all over the news,…………..
In regards to Khalidi, however, the guilt-by-association game burns John McCain as well.
During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.
A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi’s Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. (See grant number 5180, “West Bank: CPRS” on page 14 of this PDF.)
The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi’s group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of “sociopolitical attitudes.”
and so Jennifer Rubin is not telling you the real story………..she is obviously biased because she just simply wants Mccain to win. Sorry to say but she is not being credible.
The dance troupe that entertained Khalidi and Obama at his party was the same that entertained a fundraising event that Debbie Schlussel attended undercover a year later.
Visit her site to see what she witnessed:
A number of young boys placed the flags of America, Israel and Britain in the hands of three of them — they then simulated shooting and beheading the three. After placing red scarves on the heads of the three boys – to signify bloodied and beheaded bodies – they took the flags and stomped on them.
If Khalidi and Obama did not see this performance, we at least know it reveals the twisted and depraved mindset of those with whom they choose to associate.
If they did see this performance, or something like it, then it explains why the video is being kept under lock and key.

“there are more Arab-Americans in most […] Midwestern states, for example than there are Jewish-Americans. We have the capability to influence every congressperson, every senator, every newspaper, every local NPR station, and every community organization in that important region” – Khalidi
“ins and outs of local politics, local party primaries, municipal politics: these are the building blocks of political power in this country: you don’t influence Congress without first influencing City Hall and the State House influence” – Khalidi
Again: Obama reminisced about meals prepared by Khalidi’s wife, Mona, and conversations that had challenged his thinking

final usa today gallup poll 54 % obama ….44 % Mccain
in 2004 their final poll had bush up by 2………..bush ended up winning by 1.5
another interesting note…………..53 % have already voted in florida………democrats have a 7.5% lead in votes cast……….with only 50 % more to vote……..it is almost mathematically impossible for mccain to take florida…..he would have to win by about 8 % and he is down 4 % Realclearpolitics.com
how does he reverse the polls by 12 % in 2 days?
Chooch- you need to read comment #289. And by they way, they haven’t counted any votes yet anywhere, so don’t assume the Dems are ahead.
Just curious about your math- 53% have voted, 50% to go- that makes 103%. What’s wrong with this picture? And all it takes to win in Florida (or anywhere) is 1 vote…
Israel has received complete support from the United States from both our military and representation in the United Nations. Many votes have come down to EVERYONE (like 375 votes) to 2, the United States and Israel. The US has veto power and has prevented all initiatives that would help the Palestinians. Cooch is right (310). Political party aside, lets just be real about what is going on in the region. Arbitrarily Israel was created in the 40′s, which dislocated thousands of Palestinians. These people are STILL in temporary living camps. 70 years seem like a little too long?
As for why we unconditionally support Israel, look at the geopolitics. I take a slightly critical but understanding view to it. It is in our interest to be involved in the region. We need energy, and if we help maintain stability then we will ensure the maximum amount of oil gets exported. It also has become a battle cry for the Christian conservative base, who sometimes understand the reality of the situation but many times do not. Israel did not exist for a long time. We (as a world) recreated it as a way to bring Jewish Unity.
As for politics, both candidates has expressed that they will do absolutly NOTHING to change their policy toward Israel. Unconditional support on all fronts, with very little consideration for Palestine or other interests. I like how Obama will at least talk with these people and end the history of not talking with palestinian leaders, which has been an embarrassment. If you force someone to take the precondition that Israel has a full right to exist before you even TALK with them, then no discussion needs to take place. They lose. This situation will not change with the elections. Period.
In response to Chooch and to add to what Beemer has said, McCain’s organization the IRI did give $448,000 to an organization on which an AHMAD KHALIDI was a board member. I think the whole McCain/Khalidi donation story is bogus for the following reason:
Yes in fact the International Republican Institute did donate about $500,000 (from what I’ve read) to the Center for Palestinian Research and Studies back in 1993. McCain was on the board of directors of IRI when they made that donation to CPRS to conduct opinion polls in Palestine.
IRI Statement Regarding Work with Palestinians
For Immediate Release
October 29, 2008
Now I’ve done some checking and found the CPRS website here ( they call themselves the Palestinian Center for Research and Studies). The IRI says in the above statement that they understand Rashid Khalidi was one of the founders of CPRS. But a check of their site doesn’t show his name as a member. It does show an Ahmad Khalidi though. And further checking indicated to me that the two gentleman are not the same person. Rashid Khalidi is an American born son of Palestinian parents who graduated from Yale University. Ahmad Khalidi graduated from Cairo University in 1967 according to the CPRS website linked above, when Rashid would have been 17 years old.
Now I thought that perhaps I found a website of an organization with a similar name doing similar studies and polls. Maybe it was a coincidence that an Ahmad Khalidi was part of an organization with, essentially, the same name and function as an organization that Rashid Khalidi belonged to. Their URL address is pcpsr-dot-org not cprs-dot-org so perhaps the similarity is coincidental. But if they are the same organization and the Khalidi who is the board member is not Rashid Khalidi, then the left wing’s “see everybody does it” assault on McCain is bogus. They’ve got the wrong guy. Here is the internal link in the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research polls. Note that the internal link to the poll results is shown as (See CPRS Polls). So they refer to their own organization as CPRS at least on occasion. Also note that all of the polls listed have their start date in 1993, just when these McCain/Rashid Khalidi stories say that Rashid’s organization started up. And the polls end in 2000 about the same time the CPRS was said to no longer exist. But exist it does because its website is still up and has been updated very recently.
In research Rashid Khalidi I found no indication that he was ever a member of a CPRS organization other than the recent references to the McCain story.
Here is CNN’s take on the story. They say Khalidi founded the CPRS. A Khalidi did. Ahmad Khalidi. Here is how he is described in a seminar in May of 1997 sponsored by the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (which I take to be the Dems version of the IRI McCain belonged to).
Dr. Ahmad Khalidi
Director
Parliamentary Research Unit
Center for Palestine Research and Studies
Thank you for being here today and welcome. We hope to share with you over the next few days
the experience of parliaments from around the world. The Parliamentary Research Unit (PRU) is
part of the Center for Palestine Research and Studies, which was established four years ago. The
Center undertakes political, economic and strategic studies — topics integral to institutional
development. The PRU, developed last September, focuses on legal studies and review of
legislation.
What does all of this mean? I think the nitwits inside and outside the press that have been flogging this connection between McCain and Rashid Khalidi have screwed up and are either knowingly or, more likely, unwittingly connecting McCain with Rashid Khalidi when in fact McCain’s connection is with Ahmad Khalidi who is a founding member of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research.
By the way here is Rashid Khalidi claiming that there is no liberal bias in universities and colleges. Hmmm. Sounds strangely familiar.
Lord knows the libs have managed to screw up other stories before out of either mendacity or incompetence or both. Maybe there is a reason McCain shouldn’t have had his organization approve funds for Ahmad Khalidi either.
But that would be another story.
Unfortunately the embedded links don’t look like they are going to transmit. So here are the links to the Ahmad Khalidi site. You can find his Bio on that site. He graduated from Cairo Universtity in 1967:
http://pcpsr.org/survey/survey.html
And the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs site where you can find the information on the workshop that Ahmad Khalidi attended where he referred to his organization as the Center for Palestine Research and Studies….Same name which provides the basis for the acronym used in connection with Rashid Khalidi, CPRS.
http://www.ndi.org/
You can find Rashid Khalidi’s Bio on Wikipedia. It says he was born in the U.S. in 1950 to Palestinian parents. He graduated from Yale University, not Cairo University.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/rashid_khalidi
It’s my opinion that he whole McCain/Rashid Khalidi story is bogus. I think even the IRI has fallen for it, although there statement regarding the connection makes it sound like they’re none too sure of the whole thing either.
http://www.iri.org/newsreleases/2008-10-29-IRI.asp
Finally the CNN site Political Ticker where I got the information saying McCain and Rashid Khalidi have the connection talks of a now defunct website they got their information from.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/30/fact-check-does-group-mccain-chairs-have-link-to-columbia-professor-khalidi/
If it’s defunct, how did they get the information? I think they got it from the same site I did and decided to use the more obscure tag of CPRS which is in fact a name the Ahmad Khalidi organization uses to divert attention from the truth and prevent people from finding out that their statement that “Khalidi helped found the organization” would be technically correct, but not the real truth. A Khalidi did help found it, but it was Ahmad Khalidi, not Rashid Khalidi.
Fulano
Oh MY God!!! He talks to crazy preachers…and, I can hardly bring myself to say the word, “Muslims”!!! Even had dinner with an old “domestic terrorist”. Be afraid, be VERY, VERY afraid. Sadly, this is all the McCainiacs can come up with after vetting the guy for 2 years. A campaign centered on smears…nothing else.Meanwhile, Obama talks about what he is planning to do, picks a VP who might just have the experience to lead the country and calls for unity and hope…do you all still wonder how McCain is going to get his ass kicked???
All is lost! All is lost!..and the blame game starts.LOL
Slow down folks…you’ll have at least 8 years to figure out
how you let the right wing lunatic fringe hijack your
party. Oh, wait…y’all ARE the right wing lunatic fringe!
You are a distinct minority now…completely discredited, out of ideas,
money, credible candidates (unless you count a simpleton former Ark governor,
a Mormon cultist or a truly pathetic Alaskan gaffe machine) or VOTERS!
Wed morning will be heaven…Squirm & Enjoy aholes!
Obama has run the most corrupt political campaign in American history.
Aided by fellow narcissists and thugs who share his notion that the law doesn’t apply to them, already we’ve seen our America changing before our eyes. And it has not been good.
If he’s elected tomorrow, I have an idea the battle will have only just begun. We know our America will be in peril.
But the good news is Americans who’ve rightly remained skeptical about a ‘mystery’ man who prefers secrecy and lies to transparency and honesty are coming home to the candidate they’ve known for decades.
We might not agree with McCain on all issues. But we know his heart and loyalty are with the America we want to protect and prosper.
His judgment has been proven the right one in the most critical arena: our national security.
Little else matters if we haven’t secured that. We’ve been safe here at home for 8 years. None of us would have thought it possible after 9/11.
Joe Biden has warned us — in fact, guaranteed — that we will suffer an “incident” should Obama be elected. Others in the know have agreed. And he further warned us that Obama will do “what initially won’t appear to be the right thing.” And begged his audience to “stand with us.”
It will come as no surprise to those of us who’ve watched in horror a presidential candidate break the law with abandon during the election process — one who cavorts and partners with domestic terrorists, anti-Americans and criminals — that he will do what won’t be “the right thing.”
It should come as no surprise to any of us. Be forewarned and vote accordingly.
Lets be real.
Neither Obama or McCain is going to cause the end of the world.
Obama is not the anti-christ.
Obama is not a terrorist.
McCain is a good guy.
McCain has a lot of experience, which is important right now.
Both candidates care enough about America to run for president, an endeavor that stresses families greatly and is by far the most stressful job in America. So lets not talk about how much Obama hates America. He obviously has worked his ass off to be where he is today.
Obama is young. REALLY freaking young. Very little experience and is a risky bet as a president.
McCain is just a bad choice. He doesn’t know, or at least hasn’t conveyed, that he knows how to fix the problems we are faced with today. He would be really great at maintaining the status quo, however. He has pulled a George Bush and pandered to the religious conservative base, however. The guy runs a pretty solid campaign.
If we look at their visions for the future, the people that they surround themselves with, and policies, you should vote for Obama. I challenge anyone here to identify 3 policies that McCain has that are superior to those of Obama.
Everyone talks about Obama being scary. I’m scared to death of McCain. They guy rejects the idea of cooperation internationally and will likely pull us into confrontations with Pakistan, Iran, and Russia. He wanted to kick Russia out of the G8 right before the Russia Georgia conflict. I want to travel, yet tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan aren’t my idea of fun.
If anyone wants to read a book (I know they can be scary, but we can learn from them), try these authors
1. Thomas Friedman
2. ***** Stiglitz *****
3. Jefferey Sachs
4. ***** Fareed Zacharia******
Lets look at the world in a broad context and talk about policies, examples, and what these candidates will actually do. Can we do that?
Oh, that’s it…a conspiracy to steal the election.
Didn’t that happen in 2000??
Read the Nobel laureate Krugman in today’s Times.
You are all truly “whack jobs”…but completely marginalized ones
Putting the McCain/Khalidi Allegation to Rest
In reaction to the plethora of information regarding Obama’s relationship with Columbia professor Rashid Khalidi, Obama supporters have seized on a piece by Seth Colter Walls at the Huffington Post alleging that McCain too is tainted by “guilt-by-association” because in 1998 the International Republican Institute (IRI), whose board he chaired at the time, gave a $500,000 grant to the now-defunct Center for Palestinian Research and Studies” (CPRS) and Khalidi was one of its seven founding trustees. And the Obama campaign has done likewise.

No voter should go to the polls without reading:
americanthinker.com — go to archives – 9/28 – for James Simpson’s
“Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis”
The article connects the dots regarding Obama’s radical associations. It explains how our present financial crisis is a result of the radical Democrat efforts and how we can expect more crises from BO&Co.
Or, I’m sure if you ‘yahoo’ Obama/strategy/manufactured/crisis
you’ll get a link to the article.
Oh, and don’t forget:
The audio that surfaced over the weekend where Obama promises to:
“bankrupt the coal industry” —
how’s that for lovin’ America? Again, he didn’t think you’d hear him say it.
American jobs, down the tubes again, thanks to BO. He’ll decimate our economy, folks.
Dear beemer:
“Now, can you please tell me how McCain’s tenuous ties to this man are worse than Obama’s?”
You act like this sorry, desperate, cynical attempt to get votes was drummed up by Democrats. We are just responding to yet more Republican hypocrisy and smoke and mirrors.
John McCain was apparently the Chairman of the International Republican Inst. when at least some of the money was given to Khalidi’s organization. So surely, if he thought Khalidi to be a terrorist sympathizer, MCain would not have supported this funding – or would he? If the supposed “liberal” media had the balls to present different sides to the story, unlike Obama, Bush-McCain will never survive scrutiny of their “associations” many of which have greatly harmed the American taxpayer, our military, our pensions and constitutional rights. (Phil Gramm, Charles Keating, Ken Lay, Karl Rove, Saddam Hussein, the Bin Laden family in Saudi Arabia, not to mention their buddies and relatives in the banking industry. McCain also praised Khalidi as a moderate and someone who was opposed to the tactics of the PLO. So was the IRI’s funding to Khalidi’s organization a sincere attempt to problem solve or just a front to create the appearance of American “fairness” in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?
What if I were to say that I was a Jew who had served on the U.S. Interreligious Committee for Peace in the Middle East with Rashid Khalidi? Would my Jewishness have been tainted? Would I be endorsing the bombing of my fellow Jews, innocent civilians, pregnant women, simply by sharing the company of this professor who is of Palestinian heritage and speaks out for some of the causes of the Palestinian people?
Would I be a traitor to Israel for speaking with this man?
Would I be an enemy of America?
Would his views become my views?
Would listening to him make me culpable in the deaths of people in my homeland?
In not rejecting persons who expressed views disagreeing with the policies of the Israeli government, would the Interreligious Committee for Peace in the Middle East be acting as a haven for terrorist sympathizers?
Would I, myself, then become a terrorist sympathizer?
What then, if I supported Obama? Would that change anything? Everything?
My view is that people who fear Obama fear him first and then seek a reason.
So the search goes on.
Yasmeen, I assume you can read- What part of my statement did you not understand? The Khalidi that Obama is involved with is not the same Khalidi who now sat on the board of the organization in question. Obama’s guy might have been a founder in the 70s for this group but long ago ceased being affiliated.
Yes this is a sorry cynical attempt by those who support the Dems and Obama. That is a manufactured statement by those at the Huffpost and other liberal blogs. Please read #318 and get your facts straight. You really should stop depending on blogsites for your facts though, and do your own research. You would learn much more and sound infinitely smarter by not repeating the same garbage as every other Obama follower.
I am responding to comment #209 by Katie. I am a staff worker with the Jews for Jesus organization. Most blogs and news services have quoted the same snippet of the 40-minute message that David Brickner of Jews for Jesus delivered at Sarah Palin’s church, giving the false impression that he believes that terrorist attacks are God’s judgment on Israel for not believing in Jesus. Please read or listen to the entire message for yourself at http://www.jewsforjesus.org/blog/20080817 so that you can hear Brickner’s remarks in context. Please also take a look at Brickner’s comments concerning his message at Wasilla Bible Church, as well as interviews by Christianity Today and MSNBC with Brickner about this issue, at http://www.jewsforjesus.org. Among other things, Brickner says, “The comments attributed to me were taken out of context. In retrospect, I can see how my rhetoric might be misunderstood and I truly regret that. Let me be clear. I don’t believe that any one event, whether a terrorist attack or a natural disaster, is a specific fulfillment of or manifestation of a biblical prediction of judgment. I love my Jewish people and the land of Israel. I stand with and support her against all efforts to harm her or her people in any way.”
#4..cfbleachers..You said what a lot of us feel. Take the ignorant mocking of certain people here as compliment. Must be the “change” in the air. They will be the first to scream and yell at the injustice and horror they are about to witness in this most hysteric, excuse me, historic election. Within months these very same people will refuse to admit they voted for socialism, they will join us in our fight to free this great country from a evil so devastating, millions have died to stop it. Obama is not the president, will never be a president, he is a product, manufactured handpicked from the slums of Chicago, by the Alinsky followers. A puppet of the people who have hated America and Americans to the point of madness. Honestly, sit back, pop some popcorn and watch the “Homegrown Terrorist and Socialists Government Comedy Show.” When 95% of his bros and sisthas spend endless hours and days at empty mailboxes, a revolution will be at hand. All I can say is, it’s worth the loss to teach 1/2 the voters how unmessiah like Obama really is. By the way cfbleachers, I love your maudlin prose…
Wow, I just hope I can get a security clearance!!!
