As I recall, Tank Johnson kept his nose clean in college before he started keeping guns, dangerous dogs, and toddlers right next to each other.

If the closest thing we have to a slave auction is the NFL draft, where overindulged young men become overindulged rich young men, then I think we've run enough distance between ourselves and the sale of human beings as need be run.

Keep in mind that only in pro sports is an employer limited to selecting his employee, one at a time, in order of least successful franchise to the most successful one. There are limits to whom the owner may hire, just as there are limits on the employees earning potential. While the players in the NFL are being paid by the team they play for, they are, in effect, working for the NFL. If they want to try and make a living under different circumstances there are quite a few pro and semi-pro football leagues they can join instead. These men can also use their college degrees to find employ in other fields. These options where never available to any slaves.

Pacman is a disgrace to his profession, the Titans and the city of Nashville. We need Law and Order man to come down from northern Virginia and talk a little sense into this thug.

Am I the only one who thinks that the NFL draft is the closest thing we have to a slave auction?

Seriously. That's the entertainment value of this event.

It's a controlled market, not an open negotiation between prospective employers and employees. Young men are being raffled off for less than fair market value, because the NFL controls the market and dictates the contract. The meat being sold has to submit to this, and a period of indentured servitude, before the can become a "free" agent.

Don't forget Tank Johnson in Chicago. Assualt rifles and drugs in his house with his child and he celebrates his arraignment by going to club where his 'body guard' is shot and killed.

Let's hope that the NFL owners have learned their lesson.

Go Fred!

You'd think the owners would want a better return on their investment. I hope the Falcons front office reads this before the draft bell rings. Another Michael Vick, and all the litigious distractions that go with him, will NOT make the team more sucessful!
