nerdic, we beat the soviets but we haven't beat the russians. One corrupt system outspent another one is all.

We will never get into a war with any of this years canidates because they will surrendor first.

I like Huckabee's response, he seems to be the voice of common sense. The president's main job is to protect the United States & as a vet with a child in the Army I believe going into Iran may be the best fix for Iraq. If the nations around Iraq would not be sending fighters & bombs into Iraq our kids could already be home. I don't like war or even going into Iran but sometimes war is the best answer to our problems. We can blame Jimmy Carter for the Iranian problems we have. I like Reagan's quote of "we can achieve peace through strength" & it's absolutely true. Would you want to go to war if you knew you were going to lose?

I think the best way to deal with Iran is from within. Keep up the sanctions and implement especially among the younger Iranians more exposure and access to western ideas and especial consumer products. This I think will have a great effect. Basically this is how we defeated the Soviet Union.

<i>"There is one place of course where I'd welcome Ahmadinejad with open arms: and that's in a court where he would stand trial for incitement to genocide, under the terms of the Genocide Convention."</i> (Romney)

A very unrealistic and naive sounding statement.

Maybe he could get Omar al-Bashir over for a little prosecution as well.

<i>Senator Barack Obama has the distinction of having voted against the Iraq war.</i>

The vote on authorization for use of force in Iraq was taken in October, 2002.

Obama didn't become a US Senator until 2004.

That Barbara Ann doowop was the right answer. Unfortunately, when dealing with the smirking punks of Tehran, the most effective diplomatic response is an equal and opposite punkery - who You lookin at, Mahmud? Diplomacy cannot be effective if we insist on treating everyone as though they are decadent Swiss aristocrats, or something. And what is it with this insistence that we talk to Iran? Obviously we have been talking to Iran - we just refuse to give them the PR coup of formal talks at which we will be begging for their cooperation and they will smile and smirk and rail against imperialism, one way or another, and the Left will continue to refuse to admit that Iran is not their beloved Scarecrow, but a far worse version of the theocratic totalitarian fanatics whom they are allegedly so afraid of in the USA.

John McCain is the clear winner. Mitt Romney rates a somewhat distant second. Alas, he seems too eager to keep the legal profession happy. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Mike Huckabee are not even serious candidates when it comes to the issue regarding Islamic nihilism.
