The Violent Left, Part 2

Political violence is not only more common, but more mainstream and acceptable on the left.

This is no coincidence. The left has smiled upon fellow travelers who encourage the murder of police officers and the military, and those who have actually gone through with it. Violent statements, like this one from liberal professor Ward Churchill, have caused little consternation on the left:

For those of you who do, as a matter of principle, oppose war in any form, the idea of supporting a conscientious objector who’s already been inducted [and] in his combat service in Iraq might have a certain appeal. But let me ask you this: Would you render the same support to someone who hadn’t conscientiously objected, but rather instead rolled a grenade under their line officer in order to neutralize the combat capacity of their unit?

Similarly, compare the ferocious condemnation of George Tiller’s assassin, Scott Roeder, by anti-abortion groups, to the liberal embrace of cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal and Leonard Peltier, who murdered two FBI agents.

As a general rule, if you find a large liberal protest, you’ll find liberals carrying signs urging that Abu-Jamal and Peltier be freed. A Christian who murders an abortion doctor is treated as a disgrace to the movement. A leftist who murders a police officer gets not-so-silent support from the left.

It’s also no coincidence that the FBI says that “eco-terrorists and animal rights extremists are one of the most serious domestic terrorism threats in the U.S. today.” Eco-terrorists like ELF and ALF have done more than $110 million worth of damage since 1979 with arson and bombings — and they’re certainly not treated like pariahs by the liberal movement.

Ted Rall, whose work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and New York Times, among other prestigious liberal publications, wrote a column that was supportive of ELF:

That leaves consumers and dealers as the principal targets of radical environmentalists like the ELF. The idea is to make SUVs as unfashionable, and as scary to own, as fur became after the PETA-inspired spray-paint attacks of the ’80s. In an ideal world, American consumers could be convinced to do the right thing through an appeal to logic with public service messages like the “What Would Jesus Drive?” TV campaign, but the kind of people who would buy a car that increases the risk to other motorists in an accident can’t be reasoned with. They’re selfish and stupid. It’s unfortunate that drivers must worry that their SUVs are being targeted by insulting stickers and Molotov cocktails, but one thing’s for sure: It couldn’t be happening to a more deserving group of people.

Additionally, PETA spent $45,000 to help ELF leader Rodney Coranado, who was convicted of firebombing an animal research lab.

The left has certainly had its share of homicidal fringe misfits, too. We could point to  “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski, who sent mail bombs in the name of environmental extremism; HuffPo blogger Carol Anne Burger, who stabbed her former lover to death 222 times with a screwdriver; or even Marxist Jim Jones, who famously helped convince 900 people to drink the poison Kool-Aid.

But that misses the point.

Violent political nutcases have always been with us, but the left’s comfort with political violence and terrorism has bled over into the mainstream to such an extent that bombers are considered fit to teach students and pal around with the future president of the United States.

That’s about as far from the fringe as you can get.

    Mr. Hawkins

It is no surprise that the Left is violent and supports violent behavior considering who their father (the deivl) is. They hold no moral ground and do in fact claim to be amoral. As an example when one of their own is caught up in some scandal like lying, cheating, stealing etc… their leaders do not dicipline their own because they never claimed to have any morals in the first place but witness how they scream and howl when a conservative falls. Their ideology is all that matters but as you point out, when the truth about them is revealed they tend to be filled with every conceivable evil known to man. With the left the end justifies the means but as with all demon inspired creatures their destruction is justified and moral.

This piece reminded me how much I loathe Ted Rall. That cockroach has made a career out of vile insults and psychotic ramblings all disguised as “satire”. This hack wouldn’t know a decent person if he tripped over them because he lives such a miserable, pathetic existence that he surely believes everyone is as screwed up as he is.

Sorry. I really don’t like this guy.

  3. But bringing about the eco-nihilist-materialistic-atheist-”Commie-loving-homo-sons-of-a-gun” earthly paradise requires many broken skulls, uh eggs.

This is why I’m proud to be a wingnut and not a violent, police/military/CIA hating, America bashing, terrorist coddling, uneducated, racist, lying moonbat.

  5. I’m disappointed, John.

You Andrew Mickel, who went to college at radically left-wing Evergreen State College (home of convicted eco-terrorist Briana Waters and activist Rachel Corrie, killed accidentally by a bulldozer while protecting a Palestinian arms smuggling tunnel) was a journalist for left-wing online rabble-rousers IndyMedia.

He ambushed and murdered a Red Bluff CA police officer David Mobilio in hopes of starting a civil war against corporate America.

He’s now on death row at San Quentin.

    Just another peace-loving lefty.

As the left grabs more power, violence on the left becomes more and more mainstream. Review Stalin,Mao,Castro,Hitler. Keep you eyes on Zelaya,Chavez and Obama and the Honduran situation. Zelaya will be given his office back against Honduran law or there will be bloodshed and Obama will support it all. But watch what Obama does, not just what he says.

Was it just fear of being drafted in Vietnam, itself stymied by fear of Chinese intervention a la Korea, that made communists and race-mafiosi attractive to the world-historically well-educated, fed and provided for mostly-white American teenagers of the 1960s? As with almost everything, certain singular causes make a mockery of all the verbose analyzing of the professional controvertialists. What could cause a bunch of teenagers to remain arrested forever in their adolescent enthusiasms and opinions – even to the extent that they still worship the same intellectual, cultural and political celebrities – other than some great galvanizing fear? A fear, moreover, that they must forever keep secret because of a deep shame?

    Hey – that’d be a great theme for a Dostoevski-type pyschological novel.

Because all this leftism, ideology-mongering, flamboyant moralizing, this normalized transgression – all this seeing “Good through mists of hatred,” what is it? It is a gigantic Lie. Why? Education? Possibly. Look how the Iraq War, with Vietnam War and the whole culture-world which issued from it resonating throughout, affected everyone around you personally, individually. Is it just fear of the draft that made these otherwise world-normal teenagers become Bolsheviks?

I was sort of a hippie back in the 60′s but I balked at the marxists and their “come the revolution” talk. It always involved killing people who merely didn’t agree with them. Not just “the man” but mom and dad and in the end, me.

Funny thought, it was Hitler in the ’30-s who said “[...] I free you of that cymera that the bourgeoisie call conscience,” – and it’s the left who’s heartily adopted this freeing dvice and kept inflicting it enthusiastically ever since.

#12 Didn’t Bruns contribute money to ACT-
a sort of ACORN type liberal group that
included financing from Soros as well?

The reason that the left wing is more
prone to violence is ego belief in their
own ability to define right and wrong free
from traditional moral guidance and to
    apply their belief without restrictions.

The justification for this flows from within
their own minds based on some “truth” they
have “discovered” themselves or from some
earthly philosopher. In other words they
set their own rules and make it up as they
    go along.

Only one religious movement today preaches
violence and interestingly are allied to the
leftists against the West. Any guesses?

Political violence is not only more common, but more mainstream and acceptable on the left. — John Hawkins

    Why do I say this?

    Well…because it’s true.

Atheists, including Leftists, throughout the last century murdered more people than the Rightists and Religionists put together.

I suspect it has something to do with a lack of ‘appreciation’ of any form of Afterlife, let alone a being or methodology that calls for a final reckoning of actions in this venue.

What I see as more of an issue than counting the number of leftist terrorists, is that the MSM and deep within the bureaucracy of the FBI and CIA other leftists hide from us the real story on them. We will never know just how terrible leftists terrorists were and are today. Spies and secret leakers I am quite sure are leftists. At least they are celebrated by the left.

Especially if you look at the reality of the so-called Catholic priest controversy over the last two decades.

During the VietNam war, joining the priesthood was one of the favorite methods gays used to avoid being drafted. There have been many articles and apologia from the Catholic clerical heirarcy about how up to 60% of the Catholic priests are gay, and their worries about the gay culture’s influence on the Church.

Yet all of the sexual abuse stories are about boys being molested, so the left came up with this phony story about how adult males having sex with boys is not homosexuality, but pedophilia instead, which of course the MSM went for hook, line and sinker. That way they could kill two hated birds with one stone – that the Catholic church was irredeemably corrupted and rhey could create this fantasy that it was all hetersexuals who did it.

Why not chat about how Obama has no foreign relations policy on Israel besides telling them to stop building settlements and work with a the terrorist organization that is out to murder them? Why not chat about how unemployment is now up to 11% in Ohio even though Obama promised it would NEVER go past 8% if only the stimulus went through? Why not chat about Obama never mentioning the ongoing war in Afghanistan (not to mention the US soldier currently being held hostage). Why not chat about GitMo which is still OPEN even though that was a “#1 priority” for Obama. So much more I could go on all day.

The lefts initial intent is criminal. They start with the intent to control other people’s lives and property. This is masked as a ‘political’ position but it is just rationalized theft. Resorting to force just becomes logical progression of the initial criminal intent.

  43. 43. White Helmet

Peter the Bubblehead: Aside from the ongoing mystery of why ANYONE would select “the bubblehead”, let’s chat about some facts. Adolf, a true hater of communists, started WWII; over 37 million people died as a result. Add up some of the small timers in Chile, Brazil, Spain under Franco etc and you have a total that I suspect exceeds the “lefty” total. Yes? No?

A thinking Person: ignoring Pelto’s faux swagger (“never go to a gunfight…” from the man who has never even been in a foodfight, and lists being a “jumpmaster” as among his premiere life acomplishments), I see as usual you have real stuff to talk about: I don’t know how I cna prod Pelto into outrageous statements if I have to deal with your insistence that we be productive, but here goes:

I don’t want to shock you, but I agree O and Pelosi are veering toward that oh so very comfortable “they don’t need to know/I am doing it for their own good/let’s rush this through since real debate will kill it/I know better beause the media tells me I am smarter than eveyone else” approach and that is not good; ….(2) the obsequious media build up focusing all on Obama –a lot of it justified and some of it misplaced worship of a politician of whom they ought to be more skeptical–has not receded much, but the news of the spending is giving a lot of people second thoughts: that is good since legislation isn’t supposed to be a cram down on the American people; Pelosi is using it to cram down legislation that no one–no one has read. That is offensive no matter who does it. (OK I told you you’d be shocked)…..(3) I think your foreign policy slams are unfair: O’s upped the strength in Afghanistan as promised and as needed; there is not much to do with Iran and NoKorea right now–I mean Bush did nothing either and there is a big gap between sanctions and doing somehting serious. I mean really, short of sending Chuck Pelto to deal with Iran, what can be done that won’t inflame things there and undermine the people there who seem evry irritated at their head guy whose name I can’t spell.

Having said all that: we need a change in health insurance and people are tired of waiting–we know it won’t come from the GOP–they had 1994-2006 to do someting and failed: evryone knows if it isn’t done now it’ll be another 20 years. So I think that feeling–it has to happen now–is driving a lot. And the GOP’s inaction on the issue makes a lt of people willing to go with the rushed plan and its cost. After all, if we don’t spend it here, we’ll spend it somewhere else.

Having said all that: we need a change in health insurance and people are tired of waiting–we know it won’t come from the GOP–they had 1994-2006 to do someting and failed: evryone knows if it isn’t done now it’ll be another 20 years. After all, if we don’t spend it here, we’ll spend it somewhere else.

Why? There are, perhaps, 8 million people in the US who can’t properly afford health care (take the quoted number of 47 million, take out the 20 or so million illegal aliens who aren’t eligible, and also take out the additional 19 million who don’t want health insurance for a variety of reasons). For this you want to wreck the health care for the other 300+ million? Remember, no-one who really needs health care is ever turned away from a hospital. A great deal of the problem is due to the Democrat’s lying through their teeth about the nature of the problem.

There are, of course, some things that we can do to improve things. Recall that not much more than 30 years ago we could afford to go to the doctor’s office and pay cash for simple stuff.
    1) Tort reform. Shit happens. If the doctor is truly to blame, then he/she should be criminally charged. Otherwise deal with it.
    2) Decouple health insurance from work. I don’t have to change my house, auto, or life insurance if I change jobs. Why should I have to change health-insurance providers? (Answer: because the unions rigged the system to decrease job changes).
    3) Get government out of the equation. Medicare and Medicaid have raised medical costs for everyone, because they short change doctors and hospitals. The infamous $50 Tylanol comes from the hospital’s attempt to recoup the losses due to Medicare and Medicaid.

Sometimes, inaction is actually the best course of action.

Right but Marxism-Leninism is *about taking sh– over.*

Well I guess that works for both actually.

    @43. White Helmet:
Hey Commie, have you heard of the Gulag? Have you heard of the Black Book of Communism which describes the murdering rampage of the Bolsheviks? Hey Commie, I am an Eastern European ex-prisoner, Hey Commie, did you talk with the Vietnamese boat people, the refugees from Castro’s terror? Hey Commie, have you heard of the Spartacist Communist uprising in the Weimar Rep. that led to Hitler?
The Communist genocide in the Ukraine by starvation?
Hey Commie, don’t you know that the Stalinist started the war in Spain, Bela Kun in Hungary? Hey Commie, Mao “big leap forward”? Khmer Rouge killing field? Mass death at the Berlin Wall?
Upward 100 million death by Marxism.

Hey Comrade, were are you from? Do you know anything about the world history or you are a student of Chomsky and Alinsky spewing ignorance and hot air.

  50. 50. john from cinncinatti

the mystery is why whitie didn’t know what a bubblehead is, or jumpmaster. uh he never served is my guess.

  51. 51. john from cinncinatti

ok whitehelmet what is a jarhead?

  52. 53. tehag

I don’t understand: you describe how liberals do what it takes to win, then lament their tactics and victory?! They want and hope for change, and are willing to pay the price in blood to get it. It does no good to condemn them after they’ve won.

Peter writes: The trouble is the blood they pay the price with is usually someone elses.

PETER at 44: I am supposed to deduce that “Bubblehead” means submariner? No wonder you have difficulty communicatiing. (and no i don’t spend all day reading posts here). That said, congratulations on your service.

Thomas at 49: when you can keep down the bile and talk normally, let me know. If I remember correctly, there were any number of causes for the fall of the Weimar republic, and most have nothign to do with communists. It was also the communists that held out against Hitler when everyone else–socialists included–voted for the Enabling Act. You can find out about that in somehting called a book. I don’t think your estimate of 100 million is right, but I’ll check and get back to you.

John at 50: I know whaat a jumpmaster is: what I snicker at is Pelto listing it as a life scomplishment, when making remarks about “gunfights” when he’s never even been in a food fight. And BTW John, if I start listing financial, legal or latin terms you don’t know, will that make me smarter? You less worthy of attention? Of course not! (well, maybe in your case…). So stop acting like such a woman–nearly a case of the victorian vapors–if someone doesn’t recognize the term “Bubblehead.”

  55. 56. jimbo Ellis Smith

libs are garbage, plain and simple.

shun them, they ARE the enemy

  56. 57. Thomas

    @55. White Helmet:
As I had said I am Eastern European where your comrades murdered millions, as late as 1989. at the Berlin Wall. You are ill suited to pontificate and to whitewash the history of Bolshevism to the millions of surviving victims: you will find eager audience at Berkley with the zombies.

Learned people know the true history of 70 years of Red Terror, millions witnessed and suffered from it, they learned about the Molotov-Ribbentrop (Commie-Nazi) pact aiming the enslavement of Europe. One can read about the Spartacist revolution at Weimar by Rosa Luxemburg/Liebknecht and the resulting retribution with Hitler.

I personally spent some years in a Communist concentration camp for being bourgeois class enemy…To whom are you spawning your stale, discredited Communist screed?

There are great many Bolshevik organization in this collapsing country where your impressive intellectual and historical prowess would be more appreciated.

  57. 58. Lucky Rucksack

Uhh…James von Brunn is a left winger? By looking at the first comment I found by him on the internet, it appears as though he hates jews, non-whites, and Marxists. Doesn’t exactly sound left wing to me…see for yourself:

From: “James W. von Brunn” Subject: FW: Henrik Holappa arrested Date: Tue, 10 Mar 2009 10:15:08 -0400

Millions of low IQ non-whites are encouraged to illegally invade the USA . They are provided sanctuary, jobs, health-care schooling, by those intent upon destroying Western Civilization. Whereas, the subject of this email, Henrik Holappa, the Finn, who has committed no illegal acts, is arrested and incarcerated illegally by American agents in Marxist employ.

The Henrik Holappa atrocity is a metaphor for the ILLUMINATI conquest of America: The ILLUMINATI, has captured America illegally, and is incarcerating her NOW into a Global Zionist state.

Well informed patriots are ignoring the URGENCY, the extreme DANGER confronting them. There is sparse time remaining. You must ACT NOW. KILL THE ENEMY OR DIE IN THE GULAG !

Peter the bubblehead writes: Which just goes to show that Whitie DOESN’T BOTHER TO READ ANYTHING, or he, like many who post often on this site, would know I am a submariner, having spent 10 years serving my country proudly in the US Naval Submarine Force, the members of which proudly bear the nickname ‘Bubblehead,’ much like the Naval Aviators are called Airdales and the surface fleeters are called Skimmers.

Arkansan Raider writes: Wow. I had no idea there were so many varieties of squid. Heh.

Thanks for your service anyway, Peter. You can be proud of the fact that the Navy is the world’s greatest taxi fleet.

/Ready and waiting for the inevitable jarhead jokes.
//Having a good laugh, knowing that most commie/libs won’t get it.

Thanks to you too, for your service, Arkansan raider.

Thomas at 57: So why did you get tossed into a camp? Caught smuggling were you? Selling stolen ration cards? Don’t tell me they tossed you in there for writing anything they could understand.

But let me help you a bit: this is the US and not some ethnically fragmented, excitable eastern euro country in the 70′s or early 80′s. We try not to drench our opponents in arguments with spittle just because we disagree with them. We actually try to reason things out (besides I am a bit worried your heart can’t take this excitement).

Here are some things for you to ponder while you polish your next volley of remarks: If that looney right winger Adolf hadn’t started WWII, Russia would have stayed peaceful; Stalin might have fallen of his own weight as he was hemmed in by Britain and France and as Germany grew as another counterweight. But nooooo. The old Right winger himself had to declare war on the world, leaving the USSR as the strongest land force country standing when it all ended. Try to remember that as you pontificate.

  61. 62. shau-jan

“If that looney right winger Adolf hadn’t started WWII”

read mein kampf, let me know when you get to the “rightwing” parts.

  62. 63. White helmet

62: shau-jan: So you think Hitler was a lefty picking a fight with the communists for no particular reason? You’re a shrewd one shau-jan. I bet if I asked you to read Das kapital and find “the part” where it says free speech will be suppressed you’d tell me to pull my nose out of a book and look at the big picture. Good advice.

  63. 64. SGT Ted

Yeah all the well known right wing groups have “Socialist” in their party name.

  64. 65. Thomas

    61. White helmet:
Your primitive ignorance is overwhelming: anyone who is denying the the Bolshevik genocide in 2009. is an idiot. Tangentially speaking, I want to remind you, that Berlin, Germany is not“ethnically fragmented, excitable eastern euro – but yours is.
You cannot even write correctly you uneducated dolt.
Keep on wallowing in you Bolshevik paradise, comrade.

  65. 66. shau-jan

very funny,if you want to call adolf hitler a”right winger” that is your prerogative, you could also say he was an avid hunter and enjoyed a good steak….it’s just that it makes you sound like an idiot, that’s all, along with this gem:

    “Russia would have stayed peaceful”

i could have ruined my keyboard with that one(and it’s a laptop),let me guess you’re a big howard zinn fan, right?

the russians didn’t want to fight germany because they were too weak at the time(purges),but their ultimate goal was world domination.

  66. 67. shau-jan

one more thing;any collectivist/statist/socialist/communist/whateverist ideology requires the suppression of individual liberty….so the das kapital reference is meaningless( i have never read it,is it any good?).

  67. 68. shau-jan
