The USS Obama Is Taking on Water
Many on the left are in denial. The USS Obama, certified as unsinkable a year ago, is taking on water in its bilges. It is starting to list portside in the dark, cold political seas — on its maiden voyage, no less.
The Obama is made of sturdy stuff, the left contends, designed by the smartest engineers. Its skeleton and hull, shaped by unbendable liberal principles. Its engines and turbines, powered by attractive government-growing, corporate-hating proposals. Its furnaces, stoked by legions of young and minority voters, hopelessly idealistic and hungry for change, and by the disaffected middle class, sick of the war on terror and disgusted by a widening income gap with the upper classes. Its watertight compartments — solid Democratic congressional majorities.
In seas thought to be smooth as glass, Captain Barack Obama and his navigators, Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid, plotted a swift course to a safe, statist harbor. Government-run health care, cap and tax, card check, a pork-laden stimulus, and re-imposition of the Fairness Doctrine, among other government-aggrandizing measures, would be achieved by voyage’s end. But the first, momentous voyage wouldn’t be the ship’s last. Not by a long shot.
No, the Obama would venture out to sea again and again until the United States was transformed into a reasonable facsimile of a European welfare state — a state like Britain or France or Germany, with a dash of Venezuela for pizazz. Equality of opportunity, with its inevitable disparate results, would give way to a society of broad, redistributed wealth. The satisfaction of achievement would come not from material reward, but from the compulsory sharing of the reward.
The educated classes — the advanced degree holders, especially from the nation’s best schools — would thoroughly bureaucratize government, fulfilling an old liberal (formerly progressive) pledge. Bureaucratic government, more so than ever, would be the benevolent arranger of society, the director of the nation’s destiny, the allotter of resources, the decider of values and priorities, and the chooser of the nation’s winners and losers.
Bureaucratic government’s deckhands would expertly implement orders to better society. They’d police our diets to fight obesity, especially childhood obesity. They’d prowl our trash cans and knock on our doors at odd hours to ensure that our practices were environmentally sound. They’d regulate and tax us into being energy frugal. They’d scour our vocabulary and expressions to guarantee political correctness. And they’d scold and scold until behavior conformed to the very highest (and ever-changing) standards set by government elites.
Ships, all ships have a certain dignity no matter who her captains are or where she’s been sailing.
The U.S.S. Obama isn’t a ship.

A 40+ year old, greasy, loud, worn out, smelly, trash filled garbage truck with an insane woman for a driver, a one eyed idiot in the riders seat and a crazy man on the back that keeps yelling, “Ugh… Let me be clear!” each time he slams another half emptied garbage can down onto the street.
We keep hearing / reading how intelligent the president is, how above the fray he is, ever pondering about the great issues before him. Aside from the fact that I saw through his campaign nonsense, I am still totally bewildered by how incompetent the POTUS and his handlers have proven to be. There is hardly a week goes by that he or one of his senior minions doesn’t ‘step’ in it in a major way. This is even with the cover his administration receives from the MSM. We expect our president to have the best when it comes to advisers, those who protect him from himself when he is about to crash & burn from a verbal / nonverbal action. But his advisers are either too incompetent, or he is so egotistical that common sense gets thrown out the window on a regular basis. I don’t see any hope for this man or his administration, because I don’t believe their egos will allow them to change course and avoid the ‘icebergs’. Unfortunately, they are not the ones that will suffer their incompetence!
If you use the Titanic analogy then we are about April 13, 1912.We have time to change course but Captain Obama thinks his ship is unsinkable.We are in deep shi$ with this crew at the helm.

The biggest iceberg the president hit was the American public. He thought he could sail around it or, worse, right through it. But the American public can be just as big an obstacle as the iceberg that sank the Titanic. Obama never seems to get that. He really believes that his sugary words and his personality can melt even the biggest icebergs. But, alas, that is not to be. The American public can spot a fraud and a liar a mile away. Unfortunately, the crew on board the SS Obama can’t seem to do the same thing, so they are doomed to go down with the ship.
The big difference, though, is that after the Titanic went down, people and shipbuilders learned from their mistakes and went on to build better ships. But it seems that even after a similar ship went down, the SS Jimmy Carter, liberals and Democrats learned nothing from the experience. Hopefully, after the Republicans re-take the White House in 2012 they won’t make a similar mistake, by following the path of the SS George W. Bush.

Tugboat Captains Pelosi and Barry have no map, no sir, they are no ordinary sailors and don’t need one! They’ve run aground a few times; Bush’s fault, he put the sandbar there. And they inherited bad weather conditions! Bush again. The people on the banks shouting at them to change course, Barry thinks they’re fans and potential campaign workers and Pelosi thinks they’re peasants. All the while, TOTUS is playing its greatest hits: “Let me be clear”, “As I’ve said before”, Top ten strawman arguments the MSM reported as fact, and my favorite, “Honey, I crown thee Fat Czar”. In one corner of the tugboat Ayers and Ellie Light are working on Captain B’s next “autobiography” and Plouffe is wearing himself out trying to block access to Captain Barry. Rahm is giving the one-finger salute to ward off evil spirits, aka voters. Michelle is modeling her new “Head of State cardigan collection” and there are special deals on the “QE II ipod” and “top ten movies” given to heads of state around the world.
Walt, on the money. But remember. the people who say he’s intelligent and who built him up, the media, are some of the narrowest, dumbest people in America. If you believe in omnipresent, huge central government, bingo, you are smart. Conversely, you may have noticed more comments coming from the media about how stupid the American people are, Jacob Weisberg, Joe Klein, and others.
You have to be intelligent to appreciate the Auto/ Clunker program for example. They’re apes, and Rahm Emanuel and his boss couldn’t manage a merry-go-round.

#14: Doing “absolutely nothing” is so much better than big government socialist activism. Can we get all politicians to do absolutely nothing for a while? Besides, trying to stop this insanity is doing something.
This phenomenon has a lot to do with the excesses of The Left Wing Media, which insists on running interference for the socialist agenda wherever possible.

Barak Obama just wants to give granny a pain killer, not treat her condition. And the state of Oregon would rather assist suicide than give one of its residents cancer treatments/medications.
In response, here’s what we do:
Introduce and pass legislation that would prevent the Federal government, or any of its agencies, from harming us, killing us, or otherwise prevent us from receiving life-preserving treatment, as a matter of its operating any sort of health care system (to include the murdering of infants in the womb).
Push for a constitutional amendment. Really raise as much stink as possible.

Spring is in the air here in Tennessee (right now) and November is coming sooner than I had thought, just checked and yep my voter registration is still in my billfold ready for November but also the primaries where my congressman has decided to quit (he would have been defeated anyway) and there is now only deciding which Republican to replace him.
Anyone noticed that Obama doesn’t smile very often lately? Him not smiling caused me to be elated. Whatever is bad for Obama is GREAT for this country so I hope he never smiles again whilst president, hopefully enough gains to actually impeach him and start prosecuting some of the corrupt democrats we now have raping our country!

The President, indeed, is not the captain of the USS Obama (to continue the analogy). The captain is his chief of staff whose langauge, for the most part, consists of four letter words. The President is little more than a toadie who is sent out to promote the agenda of the chief of staff. The President has spent more time in travel promoting candidates and supporting the so called “health bill” and Democratic candidates than he has spent in the oval office. “Hope and Change”: Change means that for the first time we have a President who is not acting as such; he’s too busy promoting himself and unrealistic agendas. Hope now means we hope he leaves town.
Remember the guy in the movie who jumped ahead of the women & children and refused to give up his spot on one of the lifeboats? That would be Obama.

I’m an independent so your iceberg floating in the currents analogy doesn’t describe me, or I suspect the great majority of those who comprise the tea party movement. I think you should think of us as being more in line with a “rogue wave”. You see, Obama and the democrats never saw us coming and still don’t know what hit them.
Dagney @ #9 is quite correct about the current POTUS (as was Mrs. Clinton). He was and is totally unprepared for the job, and he does not seem to have the ability to learn on the job either.
I think new utopian @ #19 is quite right. I would go one step further. Any new “regulation” put out by an administrative agency must be approved by legislation in Congress. That is Congress must pass a bill that legislates into existence the regulation and the President must sign the bill. We cannot allow Congress to abdicate its legislative role as it has done since the “New Deal.” We cannot have legislation by regulation. It is flat out unconstitutional. If such a rule (or constitutional amendment) were in place, Obama’s regulators at the EPA could not institute cap ‘n trade through regulation when the Congress will not institute it through legislation.
U.S. Presidents do not have to be towering intellects, though mental capacity in the 130-to-140 IQ range is desirable to avoid looking stupid. Biden strikes me as a slightly above average 110, and Obama may bump 120; if they were smarter they wouldn’t be either Democrats or Marxists. Certainly neither of these one-act comedians has the horsepower to govern the United States. Our first non-citizen chief executive is an affirmative action ringer with a string of illegal aliases who couldn’t even write his own biography, and whose first official act was to classify his academic and naturalization records “secret” for the good reason that he’s not qualified to hold federal elective office (Oops! Did I say something wrong? Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit!).
Modest intelligence combined with good faith and common sense should be sufficient to avoid disaster. Yet our pet “Chicago thug” (Bill Clinton) from Mombasa, Kenya via Indonesia, has neither. Obama clearly hates America and everything this country stands for, and he has no more honest foresight than he does professional experience of any kind, much less even basic knowledge. You know, this seems so basic that it makes amazing sense.
Of course, previously, we assumed the government would do no such thing to us.
