The Third Intifada Is Alive and Well on Facebook
As reported on March 29 at the PJ Tatler by Pajamas Media editor Bryan Preston, Facebook has finally removed the “Third Palestinian Intifada” page — after weeks of users flagging it amid reports that its contents violated Facebook’s terms of service by calling for violent action against Israel and openly promoting racism. The many reports and complaints fell on unsympathetic ears; it was not until pressure had mounted over a period of weeks, including a formal complaint by the Anti-Defamation League and criticism from the Israeli government, that Facebook finally took action. The page had accumulated more than 300,000 devotees, who had been advocating violence against Israel from the beginning. But according to Facebook’s revised position,
We don’t typically take down content that speaks out against countries, religions, political entities, or ideas. However, we monitor pages that are reported to us and when they degrade to direct calls for violence or expressions of hate — as occurred in this case — we have and will continue to take them down.
The removal of the page has been hailed as a victory by pro-Israel groups and activists. But, for a number of reasons, it is a hollow victory.
First, the primary goal of the group was to promote an uprising against Israel, scheduled to begin on May 15, 2011. It accomplished this task, and may have even been aided by the media attention that was generated by outrage over the page and the attempt to pressure Facebook to remove it.
Next, the page was designed to create a network of anti-Israeli activists among Facebook’s half-billion users — to organize them by directing them to certain websites and by collecting their names, along with email addresses and perhaps other information, enabling this network to survive even after the page was removed. Again, it had achieved this goal by the time Facebook got around to removing it.
But perhaps the most significant reason pro-Israeli activists should not consider the page’s removal a victory is the fact that it has accomplished one other goal: inspiring copycats.
Like the Hydra, new heads have already sprung into existence to replace the one that has been lopped off by Facebook. In fact, there are now several pages devoted to a new Intifada, in a variety of languages, and one of them boasts 3,292,265 fans at the time of this writing — roughly 10 times the number of the original.
The group at http://www.facebook.com/Rassoul.Allaah is in Arabic, and is listed as a non-profit organization. It sports the same graphical emblem of the original “Third Palestinian Intifada” page, and has many hundreds (perhaps thousands) of posted photos. It provides a link to direct users to a rudimentary Joomla website, which appears to have been created in 2006, and purports to show a “Real Picture of Mohammed” through a series of commentaries. On the Facebook landing page the visitor is greeted by name, and presented with links to other Facebook groups that also support a new Intifada against Israel:

Instead of shutting down the websites, use them as an intelligence source. Sign up, be on their mailing list, make the connection. I would not be surprise if Mossad is on the ball already.
i agree completely. i think they are determent to have a third intifada and so there will be one. one can see the deliberate shootings of rockets, the new flotilla planed for may and most importantly the grooming of the world toward war against the ‘criminal zionist entity’. so this is ww2 all over again. only, as an israeli, let me say- THIS TIME WE WILL FIGHT!!
In the nature of things, I would say that, the kind of pages linked to, are rather, a smear to facebook; I don’t know, maybe facebook has offended the gods, and is to be smeared.
I think that, to object, as was done, did not nearly so much defend or do anything good for Israel, as might have been, to have attempted to save facebook, . . . from the kind of uncleanness which is most characteristic of the type of people who make those kinds of pages.
The amount of advocacy for violence pouring forth from the people who make the facebook channels now in challenge—equal to their founder’s writings—the abundance of threats and on, would stagger the imagination of any one of whole mind.
But, it is explainable: In connection with the increasing violent crime waves which European nations are sustaining, scholars point out the effect of centuries of 1st cousin marriage in Moslem community—producing 3X rate of birth defects with diminished IQ and emotional instability—the animal management term is: “throwback”.
It follows then, that, very many of the Moslems’ personalities are not so much shaped by beliefs and doctrines—things which are susceptible of individual thought processes and consequent opinions—but their personality development is rather, entwined in mere patterns of behavior—things of common inculcation and acquiescence, even by the so-called moderate whom some suppose as being among them. And partly, no doubt, in this way, many mature Moslems feel is reasonable to teach mayhem unto their young—and have so done, time out of mind, and in every place which in every place which they come to inhabit.
And, it also follows then, that—as in those nations wherein they are newly found—as any other cult, Moslems are thus constrained by circumstance to be parasitic in the host society; unable to build their own nations, they are predatory upon what good is to be found in any other, and the slums which each of the Middle Eastern nations is, must be reproduced in Europe and elsewhere.
As appears, there is an increasing number of unlearned and otherwise ignorant, disaffected Americans who join the anti-semites as complainers and vandals. And in that way, I wonder if the largest part of the anti-semites are not most easily and readily identified in their propensity in the un-American activity of making burn piles in the streets of their localities, breaking windows, turning cars upside-down, and so forth.
Accordingly, although—as on facebook—it is in exposure that, ideas are to be tested, as ever and again, eventually, they will arrive at violence as their do-all answer, at which opportunity they should be thoroughly trounced—as looters, shot on sight, or as against a nation, with plenty of bombs, etc. Though not of course, a mere thing, the networking is simply a part of this development, . . .

Oh, this is depressing. Can’t Facebook simply delete these pages, too? Right…simply doesn’t work with Israel. I truly fear for the future.
The goal of the Intifada is to bum rush Israel and dare the Israelis to fire on the crowd. If the IDF does not open fire, the Intifada will be emboldened, and will become more daring and dangerous. If they do open fire, the Muslim press will go bananas, demanding the UN support their “revolution” and calling on other nations to help them “secure their rights.” Clever, actually, when authoritarian and theological lunatics use the language of liberal democracy on itself. And being able to parade all those corpses through the streets will bring an even bigger crowd to the Intifada; if the Muslims were excited about uprisings in Muslim countries, imagine how nuts they will be to see their fellow Muslims trying it on the Jews. Israel has a problem here, and it may well come from all sides, as Syria tries to convince their problem population to focus more on the Jews and less on Assad.
Jewish bosses of Facebook and Google are affraid to use their own rules to ban the nazies and antisemites in the American Jewish liberal tradition of appeasement.
Mr. Belgrad’s piece is an important one that should be heeded not just by the American (and Israeli) public, but by the clueless apologists for the Muslim Brotherhood and its offshoot like Hamas. Instead of some of the overeducated fools working Inside The Beltway, our government would be better off heeding, and even hiring, folks like Mr. Belgrade.
