Uncovering the truth is always a convoluted affair when it comes to the Middle East. Consider the case of the Egyptian Nagla Iman. Is she a Muslim woman who advocates the sexual harassment of Jewish women, or a Christian woman who advocates human rights — especially for fellow women of all faiths?

The story begins last June 24, when I was a guest on I Was a Prisoner, which airs weekly on the Arabic satellite station Tarek TV (“Way TV”). Named after its host, Mr. Nabil Bissada, who was imprisoned and tortured in Egypt for facilitating the way for Muslims to convert to Christianity, I Was a Prisoner explores the lack of human rights in Muslim countries.

Prior to the show, I was told a famous Egyptian lawyer was scheduled to call in and discuss how the Egyptian government was harassing her for converting. Nagla called in and expressed her situation as follows:

After being a prominent lawyer for years, she was fired for converting to Christianity; nor would the government, as usual, allow her formally to change her religion from Muslim to Christian on her ID card. As a result, she tried to organize a public demonstration against the government, with other Muslim converts to Christianity. The demonstration was quickly disbursed by the police, the demonstrators beaten and threatened; and the Muslim mob got in on the action. The young daughter of one Christian convert who broke her arm was denied medical attention.

After the show, I decided to google Nagla Imam’s name, and it was then that I discovered the strange remarks attributed to her.  The contradiction was stunning: I contacted Nabil, who said he would investigate the matter.

Wow. That’s horrifying in and of itself; but more so because it’s a common occurrence in Muslim countries.

  2. 2. walterc

And yet we refer to this shi$$ole of a country as an ally and send them kabillions of $ in foreign aid every year. Why is that?

    • To maintain their stability so they don’t become a Muslim Brotherhood run theocracy, so they don’t renounce the peace treaty with Israel, and to allow US access to the Suez Canal. We’re in bed with serpents, kind of like our relationship with Pakistan and the new Turkey. With friends like these…

In my native Sweden Muslims’ only contribution to society is rape, drug traficking and welfare fraud.
    Fortunately I I have a US citizenship.

      Listen Fred,
The answer is not to run away. The same thing will happen here too. The answer in truth is to stay and fight. You are always better fighting on your home ground. Find others who feel like you and organize. Start by anti-Moslem demonstrations, print up materials, get the facts out. Sweden, a glorious country with a fantastic history, can and must be saved. It starts with one person.

    • Delia

Rape, drug trafficking and welfare fraud? Sounds soooo familiar. Oh yeah. Our Illegal Alien er “Undocumented Immigrant” situation in the USA is just as problematic unfortunately.

      • wayne

        Not Quite Delia,
At least the Mexican invaderes aren’t religious zealots for a prophet who believed is death and oppression. It may seem like a small difference to you, but I think it’s significant.

Raymond: the murderous Egypatian government kill and touturs people by thousand with the help of my federal tax dollars. why not right about them.. but once they are jews or christians that becomes a whole new thing. you are pathtic.
#3 Fredrick: in my native country muslims, rape , drugs etc
Let me just give yoiu a breaking news. your native country, Sweded is the largest exporter of land mines responsible for thousands of death and missing limb and unlike you, here in America we let a…holes like you in

    • You sound like the gun nuts that blame Remington or the NRA every time some thug kills someone. Countries or terrorists that plant land mines and then don’t remove them are to blame for those deaths. The US can account for every land mine planted since the 70s, retrieving them and switching from “dumb” land mines to “smart” land mines that are self-destructing and self-deactivating.

    • Anonymous

If people didn’t buy them, they wouldn’t build them….don’t whine, go try shutting the factory down or better yet confront the people that buy the mines…

    • MarkTheGreat

I doubt that there is a single left wing mantra that mirian has not echoed over the last few years.

Land mines perform a valued service in protecting the lives of service men. Like everything else, land mines can be misused.

Most of the land mines that you are complaining about were made by the soviet union back in the good old days, now they are made by rogue regimes. Land mines made by legitimate countries are disigned to disable themselves after a set period of time, plus all lind mine fields are marked and mapped.

    • MarkTheGreat

So the fact that he’s Swedish, proves that he’s an a$$hole? Or is it the fact that he complains about muslims that makes him an a$$hole? Or is this just another example of the fact that you hate everybody equally?

    • Andy Gump (formerly Oscar the Grump)

Miriam, do you have a mirror?

    • 2texans

      Miriam -

Would you learn to spell so we can understand what you are saying? Or at least use spell-check.

      Thank you.

  5. 5. Hershl

She is a brave women, indeed.

She can expect to be attacked and maybe killed if she continues to live in the land of the peace-loving disciples of Mohammad.

Good that she converted to Christianity. Any Muslim who really understands Christianity would dump Islam in a second if they were allowed to do so.

But, their peace-loving religion will kill them if they try to do so.

Or rape them as the Palestinians do to the foreign activists who come to visit and support them:

We need to intercede for believers and those who would be believers caught in the iron jaws of islam. It’s hard to imagine this level of systemic murderous coercion. People are capable of anything without the Lord’s light to guide them.

  7. 7. Anonymous

She lives in a country where she knows the religious rules…either she plays the game or she dies. This is terrible. i have thought that if faced with if you are a Muslim you live or a Christian you die…I would lie and live to fight another day.

    • CPO Mack

      Anon,

Converting to Christianity in a dominant Muslim nation carries inherent risk, it’s true. But, the very tenents of Christianity prevent a disavowal of the Christian faith. She cannot in good conscience lie just to live another day and maintain her faith.

The larger point of this article, and a multitude af other articles from PJM and other sites (Frontpage comes to mind) is that the Islamic culture is incompatable with our Western ideas of Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, etc. We are totally incapable of assimilating a large Muslim population in any Western liberal democracy, and stay a liberal democracy.

Our response should be to take Islam at face value. That is, the ultimate goal is for *all* to ‘submit’ to Islam and Islamic law. If we do not want our children and grandchildren to face choices and reprisals like Nagla’s, then we need to speak out. And fight, when necessary.

  8. 8. anne

I am neither Christian or Muslim so I have a difficult time understanding a religion that would dominate my very being. However, I do understand mistreatment of a person .
it seems the religion of peace islam presents is a farce and affront to mankind.

Sad that the misguided followers do not realize this..but I think it would be difficult to see the light of day when you live in and were raised in darkness. Frankly I think God will soon reach down and b!tc# slap the whole lot of them.

\\Where are the Gloria Steinmans of this world??? She would have them burning their burkas in the streets!!!!

The people of Islam need our prayers and sincere thoughts.

  9. Raymond, we are burning to much time on these nusty subjects. I am regularly in contacts with Amnesty International, who looks like to be helpless with the
the egyptian gov. and its criminal and discrimination way in creatng a kind of dhimmi society. My question, what will happen if tomorrow the fanatic moslems inondate this beautiful high cathedral of the Copts in Cairo? Who will prove to stop them? Surely not in writing long comments in the blogs. A positive action should go on stream. Iam addressing regularly to al Ahram Cairo daily paper, unfortunately like Arabs say: ala tizu, mhich means on his backside. What do you suggest to do?

    • wayne

      Gabriel,
I’m afraid it’s going to take war to settle this. I’ve thought about this a lot and I see no other way out.

  10. Raymond, we are waisting too much time talking about these subjects, while Amnesty Intrnational, with whgom I am regularly in contact, Mrs. Garrigos ist desperately fighting but nrver reaching any concrete results. My question: What can the international community can do to stop these discrimination behaviour of the egyptian gov. What about if this same gov. decides to nationalise the Higher coptic cathedral in Cairo and turns it to a mosque? The Occcident is much more worriying about its financial intrests rather than a Nagla Imam.

  11. 11. Marty

We neeed to keep in mind that Egypt is considered a “moderate” Islamic and Arab state even though free elections have never occurred and the United StSyed is regularly demonized in the media.

    • wayne

      Marty,
Egypt is a real Hornet’s Nest. And things only get worse when religious theocracies are allowed to take over nations. This is why polygamy should be banned whereever it is practiced. This is why the separation of church and state is important..and this is why all churches (religions) must be subservient to constitutional authority. As bad as Egypt is, I’d rather see a propped up “tin pot” dictator in charge there than some bearded, mean faced Ayatollah.

  12. 12. Isahiah62

I would like more info or proof that she was coerced or that the video of her advocating rape of Jewish women is fake.
If it is not fake – I have no sympathy sheis getting waht she advocated for otehrs.
If it is fake it just shows the length Muslims will go to frame a person who dares go against their system and dares to go public with hit.
YES AMERICANS it is a CRIME to leave ISLAM not just in EGYPT-if she converted no onlyis she guilty of apaostasy but guilty of poisoning others minds who might want to do same-
All those who cry bitch and moan about money to ISRAEL– thisis what YOU are supporting- unfortunately not supporting this “MODERATE’ Mubarek regime will result in WORSE- a Kahmeni type mmore repressive regime- ISLAM has two speeds BAD AND WORSE

Miriam go cry to your lover boy OBAMA- he is the one who did not support the dissidents in IRAN- the ones you helped into power and then abandoned to reap what you sowed- youre damn lucky this country tolerates ingrates like you- who live under our bnefits and blessing and freedoms while whining about how horrible USA is… the rest of what I say to you is unprintable -

School Daze V: Sex Ed Run Amuck

School days, school days, dear ol’ golden rule days. Reading and writing and ‘rithmetic– and anal sex, and scrota, and sexual anxiety, and erotic art, and proper methods of oral sex.

Those latter five topics were scheduled to be in the planbooks of Helena, Montana school teachers.

Ya got a problem with that? If so, then just chill.

Definitions and identification of scrota, testicles, etc. may be part of the Helena kindergarten curriculum but the anal sex section of the curriculum won’t be taught until kids are much older, as in age 10 or so and in the 5th grade. Appreciation of “erotic art” and understanding “sexual anxiety” will be reserved for more mature students, those in the 9th grade and above.

The 62 page document which took 2 years to construct also includes teaching first graders about gay love.

The first reaction to all that news may be that it’s a curriculum devised by some deviates in NAMBLA . . .

Oh Lord, that postscript… whatever your faith, Nagla and her children need our prayers right now. We can all give at least that much help. And we need to push those who can do more — our elected representatives. Every civilized nation should be condemning this barbarity. This can’t go on.

  15. 15. Drew

I wonder whether Amnesty International would take up a situation like this.

    • wayne

      Drew,
Amnesty International had a noble beginning. But it appears it has just turned into another one of those front groups for Socialism. They no longer care about anything that doesn’t have to do with the redistribution of wealth or the stamping out of capitalism where ever it exists. Unfortunately, Islamists readily exploit this. There is now such a strong symbiotic relationship between Islamists and Socialists (Collectivists) that the Socialists wouldn’t dare step on the Islamists toes. Just wait and see what the Islamists do to the Socialists when the Islamists get the upper hand.

  16. 16. Saher

    This is EGYPT

  17. 17. Giuseppe

Hmmm. Maybe she really did say that Moslem men were entitled to sexually harass Jewish women — but, then again, that was before she became a Christian. In other words, it was spoken with a Moslem spirit and she now regrets it?

  18. 18. Anonymous

I only briefly scanned the posts, so someone may have already commented on this, but has anyone else noticed that the youtube video of Nagla singing has been “removed by the user”?
