The Right Needs to Play as Dirty as the Left
When I was in college, I studied Southern Long Fist Kung Fu for more than a year and my teacher told me something that I never forgot. He said that when you’re being attacked, the aggressor sets the rules and if you want to survive, you have to play by those rules. In other words, if your opponent is trying to cut your head off with a sword while you’re trying not to hurt him, chances are that you’re going to end up dead. This is a lesson that conservatives can and should apply to politics.
Too often today, liberals are using below-the-belt tactics against conservatives and paying no price whatsoever. Meanwhile, those on the right like to pat themselves on the back for being above it all. This is like a boxer priding himself on never taking off his gloves while his opponent nearly beats him to death with his bare firsts. But in the end, there’s not much to be said for lovable losers. Conservatives should realize that fair play isn’t going to pay any dividends.
While we conservatives don’t have to stoop quite as low as the left has, we do need to start giving them a taste of their own medicine, if only to make them think twice about the way they’re treating our side.
For example, look at the media jihad that was shamelessly launched against Sarah Palin’s family. There was a not-so-subtle message being sent: if you’re a Republican woman, you better stay in the shadows or we’re going to destroy your family to get you. The left gave the same kind of intrusive, public scrutiny to “Joe the Plumber,” a private citizen who merely asked an inconvenient question to Barack Obama. While conservatives defended both Sarah and Joe as we complained incessantly about the way they were treated, the reality is that the Democrats paid no price whatsoever for the out-of-bounds attacks.
Instead of continuing to complain, here’s a better idea. Why don’t conservatives do opposition research on the journalists endlessly running stories about Bristol Palin and Joe the Plumber? Have they ever been arrested? Whom do they own property with? Have they ever been paid to do a speech for someone and then run a favorable news story about him? Certainly Keith Olbermann’s personal life is just as newsworthy as Joe the Plumber’s, and the details of Maureen Dowd’s life are just as noteworthy as those of Bristol Palin — are they not?
Here’s another example. On college campuses, conservative speakers often need bodyguards to give a speech. Conservatives are shouted down and attacked — and nothing serious ever seems to happen to the fascists who engage in these thuggish tactics. So why shouldn’t conservative groups do the exact same thing to every liberal speaker who comes to the college? Go on stage, lock arms, and shout him down — then sue the university if they’re given so much as an hour’s detention more than the protesting liberal students.
Along those same lines, how is it that we have public universities using taxpayer dollars to discriminate against conservatives, indoctrinate kids into liberalism, and hire faculty like Bill Ayers? Why are Republican state legislators allowing this? How about standing up and saying, “If you want to continue to receive taxpayer money, you’re going to act like a university should, not an indoctrination center”?
If you are tired of being called a racist by race-hustling poverty pimps like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the NAACP, how about using their own tactics against them by boycotting organizations that work with them or support them financially?
Are you sick of feeling like you need to familiarize yourself with porn terms just to understand what they’re saying about the tea parties on MSNBC or CNN? Then start filing obscenity complaints with the FCC. The left has never hesitated to use the government and the court system against its political opponents, so why should we?
Obviously, we don’t have to become liars — in fact, even setting aside the ethics of it, it’s better for our credibility if we don’t. But conservatives do need to stop playing by Marquess of Queensberry rules and futilely hoping that the public will finally start to notice that we’re actually nice guys, even as we are smeared as Nazis, homophobes, and racists every day.
How much credit did John McCain get for refusing to talk about Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama’s lack of patriotism? How many times was George Bush — a moderate on domestic issues who bent over backwards to create a “new tone” — accused of being Hitler? How many times has Fox News, which makes more of an effort to be balanced than any of the other networks and all the biggest newspapers in America, been accused of being as biased as Rush Limbaugh?
Complaining bitterly about the Democrats’ “politics of personal destruction” or bellyaching that the media doesn’t treat us fairly ultimately accomplishes nothing. The public doesn’t care.
Using the exact same tactics against the left that it uses against the right may very well be effective.
Even if it isn’t, it may at least convince them that such tactics ought to be off limits on both sides. We can say, “Gee, what if Bush had done this” or “That’s a cheap shot” all day long, but until our political opponents feel the brunt of the same savage incivility that it dishes out on a regular basis, nothing is going to change.

Well said!
As a side note, why is it racist to say anything negative about Barack, and not racist to attack Native Americans like, for example, Todd Palin and his children?
This is a good piece John. Point one: I am already following some of your suggestions. Point two: I will be following some the other suggestions b/c they make a lot of sense.
Okay I disagree that complaining about the Democrats and media bias is not a good strategy. Why? I’ve become a solid conservative b/c of “complaining Republicans.”
When people talk about problems they don’t cause them, they expose them.
Plus, silent conservatives make liberal Democrats very happy, and I don’t want to see them rejoice for the wrong reasons. We need NewsBusters and co.
Use Saul Alinsky’s rules on ‘em! Turnabout it fairplay, especially if you’re stronger and have actual principles on your side.
For the most part, I agree with your suggestions; however, in the context of college students I see a problem. First of all, I am a college student so I speak with some authority on this. You make it sounds so easy-”Go on stage, lock arms, and shout him down — then sue the university” But how many conservative students do you think have the funds or the support to do something like this? Most conservative students I know are just trying to graduate without being slaughtered by student loans and you suggest that we just sue them?
If a liberal student were punished for politically-related behavior they would have the MSM, ACLU, and every other liberal-dominated organization and legal office offering funds, national coverage, and pro-bono legal representation.
Conservative students don’t have the benefit of that support system. I would argue that the reason liberal students are willing to be such turds is because they know they have the backing to do so and be defended.
If you want conservative students to start standing up, we need to know there are enough people out there willing to support us through media coverage (blogosphere is fine), legal assistance, and image control that we at least have a chance of succeeding at something besides being martyrs for an unsupported cause.
Amen.
“public universities….discriminate against conservatives. Why are Republican state legislators allowing this?” Guess you missed all the uproar here in Colorado over radical left professor Ward Churchill at the University of Colorado. He lost his job over plagiarism charges, a drive led by a then Republican governor and some GOP state legislators.
“George Bush, a moderate on domestic issues.” Hmmm. Well, maybe he was a moderate on average. He & Cheney wasted the budget surplus bequeathed to them by Clinton on tax cuts mostly for the well off, but forgot to cut spending. Hence, monster budget deficits. They turned over vast tracts of public land to the energy industry (as of June, 2008, at the height of high oil & gas prices, over 67 million acres of undeveloped leases were sitting as enhancements on corporate bottom lines). And then, we got a war in Iraq to benefit defense contractors that after 6 years and a trillion dollars, entertainers like Rush Limbaugh claim that we won.
On the other side of the political spectrum, Bush/Cheney gave us No Child Left Behind and a vastly expensive (but profitable for big drug companies) Medicare Prescription Drug benefit.
Nah, I wouldn’t call Bush a moderate on domestic or any issues. I’d call him a reckless big spender who was totally clueless.
Sorry John. The strategy won’t work.
Becoming them doesn’t work. They own the media/propaganda wing(MSM), they’re training a new legion of Godless little sycophants(See Queering the Elementary) and have been for generations(Ayers), they have succeeded in getting into the presidency of the U.S.A. a charlatan and poseur, who’s ineptitude without a machine telling him what to say is all to obvious and who’s words are the exact opposite of what he’s in fact done or doing. Surrviving 4 years will be sufficient, and strengthening the things that remain then will suffice.
Let them beat their brains out on the rocks and wonder why they can’t move this country as far left as they’d wish. Then, like any lumbering winded, exhausted giant, tip them over with a finger.
Or..is that their strategy for us?
Amen, brother. Republicans and conservatives need to get over the idea that tea parties are for drinking tea.
About f’ing time someone realized this (and put it in writing), John!
I always use the “Redcoats” example, as the “absurdity” of some conservative’s thinking:
“…well, we’ve got to hold to our principles and civility…that’s why we march in line wearing bright uniforms. Sure, it makes us easy targets, but we’ll die with dignity!”
Yah. Uh huh.
THANKS for the morning dose of common sense!
Never bring a knife to a gun fight.
Yes ! Yes!, Finally a conservative that does something besides pointing out that liberals are outrageous and if they keep acting like liberals they will be even more outrageous. I’m a voracious consumer of various conservative media and it’s like a broken record, over and over. The host describes some outrageous liberal hypocrisy, media bias, or double-standard and then spends the next 10 minutes explaining to other conservatives how acting like a liberal will not be good. Well, duh. Liberals aren’t trying to make America prosperous, powerful, influential and noting 908 examples of how liberals are weakening the country or slowing the economy, or hampering the war effort is a waste of time. Conservatives need to stop waiting for moderates and the uninformed to notice outrageous liberal behavior, stop telling other conservatives the infinite ways liberals are wrong, and start making liberals feel at risk of public humiliation or targets of withering rebuttal. Don’t let a stupid liberal idea be expressed in public unless you react and counter the dumb idea, however long it takes and however alone you are fighting that battle. The key is at the end of the confrontation you want the liberal exasperated and hesitant to open their pie-hole ever again. Make them pay some price and don’t be so quick to preemptively apologize for offending the most sensitive person in the area. Ideally, the liberal will be wondering if others in the area are going to snap and gang up on him, and will the confrontation remain verbal.
Equip yourself to support every conservative idea, don’t depend on some professional spokesman for intellectual ammunition. If you wait to hear some radio host tell you the answers you are a weak link and need to get prepared. If you are around when some other conservative is arguing the horns off a liberal speak up and support the conservative. The libs won’t let any topic, any gathering, or any choice not become a poliltical football and opportunity to demonstrate their superior political position, be right there with him and make him sorry he opened his fat mouth. Liberals live in bubbles and usually have very little to back up their positions, because they don’t have to go step by step to convince people routinely, everyone around them already knows the drill, they get frustrated very quickly if you know your facts. Ask them questions so the burden is on the liberal, don’t let them change the subject, and don’t answer their question until they answer your question.
Go on offense, don’t let a lib have a free pass running down the country.
I could not agree more, although I don’t see this as purely a Dem vs. Rep issue. The republicans have certainly have had their effective “attack dogs” and have also engaged in the politics of personal destruction.
That being said, I completely agree that more should have been done to fight back against the smears of Sarah Palin and her family. Why Maureen Dowd and her ilk have jobs anywhere is a mystery to me. Perhaps the charm of b!tch journalism is lost on me.
The right needs to be willing to play as dirty as the left. If the right would like to send a band of 30 lawyers say to Chicago, Hawaii, or Kenya, let me know. I’m willing to contribute some coin. If a group would like to work on telepromter jamming apps, same offer applies. If some fashionistas would like to “set free” some hideous cardigans and replace them with something more stylish, call me.
The one thing I never heard anyone go on about is how Obama allowed those two lovely young girls to be exposed to Jeremiah Wright’s poison for all those Sundays. I understand “The One” was acquiring street cred but what were they acquiring?
Spot on. What put Bush in the White House and congress in the hands of the republicans was our constant barrages against Bill Clinton; think about the slim margin of Bush’s win over Gore.
We need to make it ‘uncool’ to be democrat. This will swing the swing-voter (who determine elections) our way…end of story. The place to get this rolling is through the PACs; only they have the organization to keep up the drumbeat.
Question to all: which PAC should we focus on putting our money behind (clearly not McCain’s PAC)?
Mr Hawkins is right. The Founding Fathers believed in boycotts and taking to the streets as the first line of attack.
Limbaugh and his ilk have derided boycotts. Rush says that thinks “liberals are funny”.
Well I’m not laughing and boycotting and civil disodience do work.
Going after those who fund the NAACP is a great idea. It’s a racist organization.
Not buying American cars is a great idea. Let Obama and his union friends buy that junk.
Shutting down the DHS until Napoltano is fired is a great idea.
Having a mob go park themselves indefinitely in front of the homes of Supreme Court justices who mock our Constitution and scare the hell out of them would be a delight.
Why not visit the Pelosi’s etc.
Take the streets.
Now that the Demigods are in power they have to defend the “system”. This puts them in unfamiliar territory and they suck at it. Just look at VP Crazy Joe. The best attack is through ridicule. Make fun of their screw ups every chance you get. Also, use the rules they make against them. Track everything BO promises and predicts and when he changes his policy or his prediction does not occur pound him on it. He talks about how many jobs the stimulus has created while total job losses are already beyond his administrations predictions. It’s crazy, but the media is starting to focus on his lies.
BO is no longer Mr Cool when openly challenged. The best way to get him off his gang is to have protesters every place he goes. He has such a huge ego he can not help but talk about them and when he does it he looks stupid.
Going after the personal lives of the liberal newshounds and commentators is the best idea yet.
Go very carefully with the pols, because you already allowed yourselves to be branded Nazis for decades, and any Nazi behavior will be seen as such, while the public generally despises media guys, so they won’t ocmplain.
Great comments. I agree with it all. But having two kids in college, I also agree that it is almost impossible to be a “openly-out-conservative” in college. The liberal professors will flunk you for any protesting you do that doesn’t fit with their agenda. And this is also true in high school. Many times my children had to write “position” papers in classes that were the exact opposite of their true opinions to be able to get the great grades they were used to getting. When they tried to express any conservative positions, they were downgraded harshly for it and quickly learned to dissemble in class.
This is right on, except people like us find acting like the other side repulsive and unnatural. I went to a TEA party, and although it was pleasant and orderly, you could still feel the palpable discomfort of the crowd. We cannot stand using their tactics, it makes us feel creepy. We are just not the types to disrupt guest speakers. They are our GUESTS, and even if we do not agree with them, we were taught to be polite. Plus, it would be turned against us by the lefty press, which would never cover the disruptive tactics of the other side, but would go nuts if we did it.
I say it is worth a shot to act like them, if we can stand looking at ourselves in the mirror afterward.
6. SteveB/Colorado:”He & Cheney wasted the budget surplus bequeathed to them by Clinton on tax cuts mostly for the well off, but forgot to cut spending. Hence, monster budget deficits.”
First of all, congress is the entity which writes the budgets, and enacts legislation. The 104th Congress wrote the budgets which created the supposed budget surpluses. It took 2 government shutdowns for Clinton to agree to the Republican budget in ’95 which directly led to the surpluses in the next few years. Remember the school lunch program ? Remember the Mediscare ? Gingrich resigning over a lousy book deal ? How quickly we rewrite history ! Nice try. And those terrible well off people ! How dare they make good decisions in their lives ? How dare they pay most of the taxes ! Most Democrats are the most devisive people on earth: rich against poor, black against white, old against young, and man against woman. Monster deficits ? The present congress has just set huge new records for spending and deficits. Bush WAS a disgrace – but only because he worked with a Democratic congress in his second term, allowing them to set the agenda. The problem that Conservatives have is that we’re battling a Democratic Party of mindless 14 year old’s who act on emotion, disregard facts, and rewrite history for their own benefit.
Two wrongs don’t make a right. You don’t attack their speakers, you stand up for any speaker who is being shouted down by attacking the liberal students. In an ideal world, the campus police would be throwing these punks off campus, but the campus police are usually at best impotent, and at worst nothing more than mindless mafia-style enforcers who serve the whims of the politically correct university staff and administration. It’s time for conservative and libertarian students to take the law into their own hands by directly confronting the liberals when they shout them down. A few good right hooks to the jaw of a liberal student is enough to make it difficult for them to shout anyone down.
Re: #4. Slveryder: Great points and to be honest, things I had never even considered. Definitely something for local GOP/Independent chapters to think about and tackle! Maybe with the Tea Party movement gaining momentum, the college kids will now have a group to identify and be a part of? Not college aged anymore so not sure about that.
Re: #7 Richard: I don’t think that playing by the same rules is becoming them (heaven forbid). I think a perfect example was one pointed out in the article of McCain choosing not to talk about the elephant in the room, Rev. Wright. I was DYING to hear him say ANYTHING about it. TeleBama sat for years listening to his hate America/white people speech and it’s not a topic of discussion during a Presidential election?
I’m reminded of that Mel Gibson movie Patriots? The GOP plays the part of the British troops marching in formation because that’s the gentleman’s way. Mel Gibson comes in with all guns blazing and well, you know the rest of the story. We’ve been too nice and unfortunately that doesn’t work anymore.
You people are all talk and no action. More teabagging parties are the answer
Rachel:
I want to see you on the picket line
Mike T, a few right hooks to the jaw would probably result in felony assault and battery charges. You’re better off boycotting sponsors of this idiocy and letting them know why.
Universities are starting to hurt, since it has become obvious to many that there are a lot of degrees that aren’t worth what they cost. This situation is only going to get worse. Get a degree in something where political rectitude is irrelevant, like science or engineering. Send your kids to schools that aren’t known for hiring clowns like Ward Churchill.
I’ve written it before, and I’ll write it here, again. You get what you tolerate. I’ll never hire a “xxx studies” major. Take your grievances elsewhere.
Boycott sponsors of shows that offend you and let the advertisers know what you are doing and why.
Too often today, liberals are using below-the-belt tactics against conservatives and paying no price whatsoever. Meanwhile, those on the right like to pat themselves on the back for being above it all.
It’s not back patting, just the sheer unsavory-ness of, for example, delving into the weird & kinky sex life of some brain dead Leftie like Keith Olbermann or speculating on MoDo’s fondness for bright red lipstick and spikey high heels or Rahm Emanuel’s unconscionable arrogance or David Alexrod’s habitual use of strategic lies or…or…
Gee, this is kind of fun…but it seems like if you don’t get it yourself, you’re not gonna get it. The hallmark of the brain of a Leftie is that it is completely closed to any information that challenges core Left assumptions.
It’s a dumb, closed, unreachable brain
The truth about the Left & Activists in general (e.g., Muslim students’ assns. at various universities) is that they now exists in a complete fog of moral relativism and will do anything (anything at all) to win. They can do this since the society’s sense of moral rightness has been assaulted & eroded, pinged and pinged, for decades now and the atmosphere is one without standards of behavior.
I’m not sure it’s a good idea to start replicating filthy tactics.
Start by infiltrating ACORN.
What’s amazing is this is apparently the first time this has been articulated. Well done. So many of us have felt this way for a long time, and you gave great examples.
Poor George’s “high road” made him look like a fool. He made those of us who voted for him look like fools. I was pulling my hair out for him to get mad, get on fire, shoot from the hip. He was miserable with prepared speeches–yet he was great talking off the cuff! Just the opposite of our stooge Ogifted. That says a lot.
Trouble was, he never used it! And there was so much he could gone after and exposed and stood up for! Sooo frustrating!
And where is the outrage on Capitol Hill now? These willy-nilly compromisers are scared spitless of these libs, it’s sickening! Exactly right, they should have been investigating these bastards all along! Jeez, the lefties send hoards of lawyers to dig up dirt IMMEDIATELY when they felt threatened by anyone! And we have real criminal issues to find, not just gossip and slander like they like to fling around. Oh, Olberblabber would be a juicy one! (see Coulter mince him a couple of months ago? Now SHE’s a fighter!)
It makes you wonder if any of these Republicans are in it FOR REAL?! Fight, dammit!–I’m with you Mike. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds!”
PS.–Does anyone know if there is a list of outlets/companies etc. that we should be boycotting? Progressive Insurance head big supporter of moveon.org for example. Should switch if you use them. Would be great to have a solid list compiled, explain their ties to this socialist agenda. GE’s a biggie but we can make a good sized dent–need to know their subsidiaries. There’s a lot of people wanting to do whatever they can! Let’s get it rolling and cut them off at the knees! (Sad we’ll lose our American car industry, but no way will I buy one now unless I can find an uninfected manufacturer.)
Another sad attempt to channel reactionary right wing rage by writing a laundry list of unfair treatment at the hands of political opponents.
If you took your blinders off, you’d notice that the right wing is just as guilty.
Remember the 2000 Republican Primary in which Bush’s Campaign was releasing materials implying that McCain’s adopted daughter was illegitimate?
“Rove invented a uniquely injurious fiction for his operatives to circulate via a phony poll. Voters were asked, “Would you be more or less likely to vote for John McCain…if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?” This was no random slur. McCain was at the time campaigning with his dark-skinned daughter, Bridget, adopted from Bangladesh.”

Remember Watergate, the dirtiest political trick in the history of the American Presidency?
Remember that you are the party of Richard Nixon, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and a whole long list of southern racists who have stooped to disgustingly low levels to win elections and ruin opponents.
The notion that somehow the right wing is morally and ethically superior is laughable.
You’re one cycle behind, folks.
And yes, 17. Bruce . . . PLEASE go after the personal lives of the liberal newshounds and commentators. That can be incredibly effective. Here’s an example of the kind of fruits it may yield:
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/1013043mackris1.html
Now of course, you have to be prepared for the left to go after the right wing pundits . . . pause for thought.
Spot on. The republic is too valuable to the world not to fight for it.
A well-timed and worthy article. To my mind, it’s out of character for most conservatives to conduct themselves as activists, as they are too busy working hard, creating jobs and wealth to be concerned with the machinations of public policy. It’s high time this has changed, or their party is going to wind up sucking hind tit for another 50 years. Surely this is hardly what they really want. So get in there and get your feet wet just a little………
29. Pastor of Muppets. You overlook the power the MSM has of manipulating public opinion; it’s truly remarkable and has served to alter what should have been different historical outcomes, IMHO. If the conservative side enjoyed just a fraction of a percentage more of even-handed coverage out there, the political landscape would be completely different. It’s a constant uphill battle the conservative side must wage just to be heard in an objective fashion. If the MSM had attended to their journalistic obligations in proper fashion regarding coverage of BO’s history over the 2-year course of the presidential campaign, he doubtless would have lost the primary to Hillary Clinton. At this point, it’s NTS that the country would have been better off in her hands.
I love how Master of Puppets has to cite an ad from the GERALD FORD campaign to say “see! you do it too!”
The liberal tactics this article is citing are current not from half a century ago.
Pastor of Muppets: I WILL remember I’m the party of Cheney and Bush and Palin and Limbaugh, and O’Reilly and Hannity and Beck and Levin and Reagan and Lincoln and Grant and Roosevelt, etc, etc.
THANKS FOR BRINGING THAT UP!! They are PATRIOTS one and all! You’ve lit my GOP fire friend!
Now I WILL admit that Nixon wasn’t a great GOP example but I’m guessing you’d rather forget about Clinton, Carter, Kennedy, Olbermann, Maddox, and Matthews.
This from the guy who calls those who question why the Obamunist needs a battery of a hundred lawyers to keep from having to show he qualifies to be the king, “birthers”? This from the guy who gives Dr Corsi a hard time(who is about to proven right)? Sorry Mr Hawkins, I don’t believe you have the grapes for it.
As an Objective Survivor it seems to me the right does fight as dirty as the left, it is the tactics that are different, the left fight like women kicking, screaming loudly, calling names, are catty and whine like crazy, ( Keith Oberman is a good example of this ) and have absolutely no regard for morality or respect and tolerance for the beliefs of others, although they will hypocritically say they are inclusive…. Now the right fights in a more manly way, they use facts, examples, history, refuse to kick an opponent when he is down, when the right loses instead of blaming the opposition the right looks at what it did wrong then decides what needs to be corrected….. Think about it, there is a difference.
Contrary to MuppetPastor’s claim, there is no way that any moral and political indiscretions of the Right could match up to the filthy, orchestrated attacks on Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin and her family.
The Left went into panic mode when these two individuals popped up on the national scene as they were both emblematic of straightforward honesty and high moral standards.
These character traits are the Left’s mortal enemies.
Character assassination is the Liberals favorite weapon. Of course if we dare question them on their character traits, they pull out their second favorite weapon, name calling. It’s played out time and time again even on this website. Witness the liberals posting on this article. We DARE talk about using THEIR methods in the next election and they aren’t saying we’re wrong about THEIR methods, they’re just pointing out our “right-wing outrage”. So obvious it’s funny!
We must start with taking back our schools- the school boards need to be conservative- we need to only vote for conservative candidates. When the lliberal teachers push their agendas in the classroom and children are punished for disagreeing with a lilberal posiition we need to atke it to the school board. We need to do away with tenure- the unions are an abomination. I am a former teacher- bellieve me, I know from exerience.
I agree totally. We need people at every Borat Obama speech spotted through out the crowd. At the appropriate times we can show our support of Dear Leader by giving him the ol Seig Heil.
Maybe some hanging and burning of Dear Leader in effigy. Seems the kids like this stuff.
Also, we in conservative states need to use our power to rid our states of liberals in our Universities. If you have a company, do not hire liberals and fire the ones on the payroll now. Do not aid the enemies of America.
Most importantly we need to organize. We need conservative acorns and act out groups funded by all of us. As well as lawyers bringing suit after suit against the socialist policies of the left.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been thinking this for the past year. You’ve expressed my thoughts exactly. Politics is a dirty sport. Time we got our uniforms messy.
We must start with taking back our local schools- the school boards need to be conservative- we need to only vote for conservative candidates. When the liberal teachers push their agendas in the classroom and children are punished for disagreeing with a liberal position we need to take it to the school board. We need to do away with tenure- the unions are an abomination. I am a former teacher- believe me, I know from exerience.Parents need to be activist and ask their children what is going on, you need to observe class, etc.. We really made a mistake when we let liberals control our schools and determine the curriculm and take away the disciple. Now they all have to feel good- who cares i they learn anything. We have dumbed down classes until we can’t compete internationally.
Obama is now officially a Used car salesman. The first thing he did as the Used car saleman was to lie to the customer. he announced he saved 30,000 jobs at Chrysler. many workers went home yesterday because suppliers stopped sending parts. Monday the factories are all closed and will be closed for 60 days. That means unemployed and available for work if they ever re open.
I know it is a lie. If your plant is closed and you are told to stay away, don’t tell them their job is saved.
Maddow and ober mensch have audience numbers that speak for them selves. We need to ask them time and again, if they are so smart, why aren’t even dems watching them?
As far as the myth of tax cuts for the rich, the reason they benefitted the most is because they pay the most. Also those tax cuts actually generated 4.5 trillion dollars more tax revenue in the Bush years than the revenues in the Clinton years. The reason is tax cuts generate more money in peoples pockets which gets spent over & over again generating more taxable revenues. The problem is Bush spent money like a democrat.
EXACTLY right! Great article for a Friday. Bravo!
Anyone want to play whack-a-troll today?
38. tanstaafl:
Contrary to MuppetPastor’s claim, there is no way that any moral and political indiscretions of the Right could match up to the filthy, orchestrated attacks on Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin and her family.
Yeah, I remember when the Obama campaign fired up a robocall asking voters if they would be more or less likely to vote for Mitt Romney if the knew he had an illegitimate black baby. Now I hear he’s going to fire a bunch of US Attorneys for not prosecuting people who voted against the party. Next thing you know he’ll be outing CIA agents because their husbands disagree with his claims of yellowcake being bought in Peoria. Is it any surprise that those nasty leftists would point out that Joe the Plumber isn’t a plumber, that he’s a tax cheat and a welfare recipient. Or that Sarah Palin couldn’t muster the benefits of family values in her own family, that she’d rather take her brood on a Super Market Sweep of Bergdorfs to the tune of $200,000 of campaign money, or that she regularly abuses her power as governor to avenge family squabbles, or that she habitually lied about “killing the bridge to nowhere.”
You’re right, the left doesn’t fight fair. They’re meanies. They should just shut up and let Sarah and Joe (and Sacajarushbo) lead the Republican party out of the wilderness. (Now that’s something I truly wish would happen.)
It’s about time someone else sees it this way; I’ve been a proponent of this strategy since last year. Fairy tales and folklore is full of this philosophy.
John, thank you for this post! I’ve always found it interesting that when it comes to fighting terrorists conservatives argue that it’s war and we need to do whatever it takes to win. These same conservatives then turn around and say we need to “play nice” here against our domestic enemies. America will never be taken over by terrorists. They can attack us over and over again and America will still exist. The same isn’t true if we don’t stand up to our enemies here at home. If we lose this war, America will cease to exist.
This is the best article I’ve read in a while. I’ve been saying the same thing for a loooooong time. Politics is a dirty business, and if you’re going to continue to “be above it all,” while the enemy smears you, well….you end up with a speaker of the house from San Francisco and a damn-near socialist president that’s never ran a hotdog stand.
The time to take off the gloves has long since passed. We need to start being as nasty as the left. If we don’t, kiss this country good by.
Our first targed should be liberal media figures.
Hey, everyone, there’s another tea party this weekend. It’s . . . oh, darn it . . . it’s . . . somewhere . . . where is it again? I’m not sure, Fox hasn’t advertised it yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be really funsy and specially and patrioty. And Joe the Plumber is gonna be there! (And yes, ladies – and gUys – Joe’s still horny!) See you there, wherever it is.
Actually, you need to be dirtier and tougher than they are. The right is righter and stronger than the “enchanted” crowd who love the beheaders more than those who defend against the beheaders.
Obama wants to invalidate property rights of senior secured bondholders who had paid for that security with lower return. Is he any different than Chavez other than degree? Doesn’t it now make sense why he hung around with Ayers and Wright?
The US is under a real assault by crazy , at best, or power mad and diabolical at worst. At some point , confrontation is probably inevitable.
Fighting back using some of their own tactics is only a start. I would only add that infiltration should be included. If you are a right wing journalist…get a job a CNN. If you are a right wing teacher…get a job at Berkley, etc.
tanstaafl–amen
Master of Puppets..I give you Keith Olbermann vs Rush Limbaugh (or a host of others.) I rest my case.
Character, my friend, it’s all about character.
Very well said. By the way, GE owns MSNBC. The UAW and Democratic Party are about to own GM and Chrysler. I’m not sure I see any reason to own GE, GM or Chrysler products.
#46 sheesh: You’ve covered just about all of the reason’s we know the liberals are insane bub. You actually believed every TeleBama talking point and parroted it back for us today. Nice to know you tow that party line there “sheesh”. Not only does the left not “fight fair”, they are apparently able to type the Democratic agenda with nary a typo.
Kudos to you sheesh! You’ve made all of our points for us!
PS… I have never called the left “meanies”. Idiots, liars, white-apologists, race-baiters, illiterates, group-thinkers, military haters, unemployed nanny-staters and freaks YES, but “meanies” never.
Heh. Bring it on, weenies. We’ve been at this longer than you’ve been alive. Ever wondered how we managed to turn Joe McCarthy into the devil incarnate?
We invented dirt. I laugh on your bluster.
To #6 SteveB/Colorado – how convenient to neglect mentioning “No Child Left Behind” was a concession by Bush to Edward Kennedy for building bi-partisan atmosphere. A lot of good that did him. It failed and the only name now associated with the program is Bush. We can only wait for Kennedy to die so the DNC can give him sainthood, and then proclaim his association was evidence of his “good intentions.
Also, complain as you might about the Bush deficit, but dude, you’re a little late on that one. Your guy, B. Hussein Obama has ripped that record to shreds, and he is just getting started.
In the spirit of playing politics like the Left I submit to you Michelle Obama at a FOOD BANK wearing $540 tennis shoes. Enjoy.
http://www.nydailynews.com/lifestyle/fashion/2009/05/01/2009-05-01_first_lady_michelle_obama_kicks_in_own_foot_feat_for_fashionistas_lanvin.html
The problem is that we lost the academy long ago. It’s not new that the academy is a left-wing indoctrination center. It was like that when I was in college in the 1980s. The reason it became that way is that lefties tend to go into academia to a much higher degree than conservatives do — conservatives tend to go into the economy, on the margins. As a result, conservative views are unwelcome in the academy. If we were to arrange similar groups to shout down leftist speakers, the students would revolt against that — they truly are indoctrinated.
What we need is for more conservatives to storm the academy by becoming academics, thereby achieving greater balance there. But until we see that happening, we’ll continue to lag there, and it hurts the entire culture.
In the spirit of playing politics like the Left I submit for your viewing pleasure TeleBama’s ratings nosedive for his latest news conference. Enjoy.
http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/04/obama-press-conference-draws-288-million-viewers.html
I joined the republican party in 1972 and left it in 2002. Reason: the republicans kept bringing a feather to a gun fight. Politics is about winning and controlling the information flow so that the other side is kept on the defensive. Republicans still don’t get it. Many posters at this site that support enhanced interrogation techniques and called for even harsher measures are now acting offended when Hawkins calls for bringing a bazooka to a gun fight, just a little cognitive dissonance for the morning read.
Awesome post – and spot on. We need to get dirty – and quick. We’re getting killed here.
Welcome to my lair . . .
quote #1 . . . 39. AThinkingPerson: . . . Character assassination is the Liberals favorite weapon. Of course if we dare question them on their character traits, they pull out their second favorite weapon, name calling. It’s played out time and time again even on this website.”
quote #2 . . . 56. AThinkingPerson . . . I have never called the left “meanies”. Idiots, liars, white-apologists, race-baiters, illiterates, group-thinkers, military haters, unemployed nanny-staters and freaks YES, but “meanies” never.”
Now I ask you . . . Really, I’m gonna have to put a lid on this barrel just to make it sporting.
Well said!!! Rush has been saying this same thing for awhile, use what they are saying against them, throw it back at them.Unfortunately,it looks like we have to do it all ourselves,we have noone to help us in congress right now.
“Politics is the dirtiest game in town.” The way the RNC has played politics has always been, pardon the pun “bush league.”
It has irked me to no end that liberals get away with their sorry games. Everyone knows what they are doing, the MSM ignores it or supports it, but no one calls them on it. Their moves are even predictable but no one does anything except talk. I think that until now, the RNC has been playing the game as “coaches” and been afraid to get on the playing field and get dirty. Get out of the dugout. Get dirty! Get nasty! Get mean! You are hired guns for the people you represent so grow a pair and stand up and fight. If you do that, we will back you all the way. Don’t have the votes right now, doesn’t matter. Raise holy hell. Create the biggest stink D. C. has ever had. Let the world know the stink is bad and this time it is deadly. America’s future depends on it. Congress is too cushy with offices and staffs and big budgets and perks. The Titanic is going down and Congress is arranging deck chairs!!
I don’t care how important the president thinks his agenda is. It is plain UNAMERICAN to pass legislation that no one has had time to read and debate, much less give Americans a chance for input. Winning the election is not carte blanche to do whatever the hell you want to do, when you want to do it. It is just plain UNAMERICAN!
The Republicans have to realize the Democrats are out for blood; they have been for YEARS, yet all the Republicans can do is be reactionary to the Democrats & the MSM.
The Republicans must also put the MSM on notice & place them on the DEFENSIVE as well given they play defense for President Obama.
A good idea, not original but good. A few problems however; first, John McCain is not unusual within the Republican Party in his desire to be unduly civil, exactly the wrong thing when dealing with the hate filled beasts of the left. We seem to have to many dainty types on our side.
Second, the left, being for the most part insane & having the media on it’s side, as nuts BTW as they are, will shriek in their natural hysteria at the slightest if justified criticism. Recall their defense of the rapist and international bribe taker, Bill Clinton. Bear in mind their defense of the socialist Obama when he is rightly called a socialist, even as he and his thugs take over corporations.
Third, we are saddled with a large portion of our population to ignorant vote, much less make the proper distinctions and recognize the scum on the left for their bile driven, crazed lust for power. Even if we tried it would be difficult to convey the human degradation of these things called liberals & their hell bent desire to inflict harm and pain on their fellow Americans,[ No? Note cap & trade, carbon emissions, taxes, new & huge deficits, etc, etc]
I would like to see a counter offensive tried but in short I’m not to optimistic.
…more or less likely to vote for Mitt Romney if the knew he had an illegitimate black baby
That rotten and false accusation was made against John McCain, as he & Cindy had adopted a girl from Bangladesh many years before.
As for the rest of your writing and knee jerk remarks that state agencies delving into Joe’s background was reasonable or that the media going after Sarah Palin tooth and bloody nail was somehow rational & justified, I’d get a headache trying to rearrange your highly predictable ‘thinking’.
#64 sheesh: Bring it on bub! You’re right about one thing though, I am totally loving this “playing politics like the Left” and totally forgot to follow the first step (character assassination) so here goes…. You are an unemployed loser who doesn’t pay their taxes nor bathe on a regular schedule!!
Yes! Who knew it was so stinking easy to be loonie-Leftie???? Awesome!
Some of the ideas above are incredibly stupid, such as the one about the reporters. The far better way to deal with reporters is to point out how they lie or mislead, and to do it in an effective way. I do it in an effective way, almost all bloggers do not.
The college thing is even dumber. If you want to sue after being attacked that’s one thing, but disrupting an event is disreputable. It would be much better to learn how to ask good questions and then go ask them of those speaking at such events.
Every conservative must read Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky.
Turn the tables. Use their tactics against them.
In the spirit of playing politics like the Left I’d like to highlight how they are now going to take back part of your tax credit.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090501/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_tax_credit_pickle;_ylt=Ap2OW.snGIOBFR7iGyz761QD5gcF
70 . . . I DID bring it on and dumped it all over you. Now you’re trying to claw your way out of the Republican dung heap. I suggest you stay in there and eat for a while more. You need your strength.
Repeat after me . . . First you think, THEN you type. Everybody . . . First you think, THEN you type.
How soon we forget about the tactics of the swift boat veterans and Karl Rove. The left plays dirtier than the right is really a laughable concept.
I think this will be hard to do, because of the MSM.. Look how they are treating Mel Gibson’s divorce, look how they treated John Edwards’ infidelity..
Bravo! 5 star article. I’ve been feeling this exact setiment for years. The right needs their own equivalent of ACORN and we need it now. What’s of concern to me is ACORN’s dominance taking place in our US census. I’m confident there was a campaign for their operatives to blanket every state. I called my local chapter recently to try and get on board and was told they’re not taking any new volunteers until 2010.
We need to start playing dirty to meet the left head-on. I’m just not sure how we’re going to organize.
66. whyaminotsurprised:
The Titanic is going down and Congress is arranging deck chairs!!
This is why you guys just can’t win . . . tired, hackneyed cliches . . . old, boring ideas . . . no ability to move things forward . . . no interest in progress . . . dragging the anchors of mythology along behind you (Reagan, Gingrich, Cheney, McCain) . . . and the anchors of ideological blindness (Palin and Plumber for god’s sake).
You just don’t have the principles, the imagination, or the balls to hoodwink the America voters anymore. It took 8 years, but the moderates, independents and liberals finally caught on to your schemes and methods . . . and the best you can come up with is doing it all again. Trust me, when it comes to yourselves, just say no.
Absolutely.
Thank goodness someone has finally said it.
Sheesh: “Republican dung heap”? ouch. I’m underwhelmed.
tanstaafl: “Contrary to MuppetPastor’s claim, there is no way that any moral and political indiscretions of the Right could match up to the filthy, orchestrated attacks on Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin and her family.”
You don’t think Watergate matches up to poor widdle Sarah Palin’s hurt feelings? What reality are you living in?
And really, if you’re going to make such bold claims of “filthy, orchestrated attacks”, at least back them up with actual examples.
Because all I remember is Sarah Palin making a mockery of heself on national television by exposing the fact that she doesn’t read nor does she have a firm grasp on American policy, foreign or domestic.
It seems to me that you folks are pissed because a majority of Americans essentially laughed Palin off the national stage, and because you are all so hopelessly infatuated with her and felt such a kinship with her, you felt as though you were being laughed off the stage too.
59. AThinkingPerson,
Dayum! Those shoes look like something I could buy for 15 bux at JC Penny’s on clearance! That woman is the true meaning of the ‘c-word’. *gag* -And, she sports enough bootie-crack and camel-toe to make me want to bleach my eye-balls. WTF kind of first ‘lady’ wears clothing that showcases their nether regions like that? Her ‘Gucci-Gyno’ fashion
senseis not kewt.Bleh.
-And, they put Sarah Palin down for her ‘spendy’ wardrobe? HA! -And, at least she dressed with CLASS. Not once did I see Sarah’s panty-lines or venus fly-trap bulging through a pair of tight pants.
Absolutely– I’ve been advocating this for many years, it’s unfortunate that there are many on the right that want us to turn the other cheek while we get beaten to death.
Mr. Hawkins:
You say; “Using the exact same tactics against the left that it uses against the right may very well be effective.”
This strikes a nerve that makes my blood temperature rise. And there are parts of my flesh that could reasonably agree with you.
However, the still small voice reminds me that your piece is a representation of how far we have fallen from being a “Christian/Judeo Nation.”
Please forgive me for pointing this out, but let me remind us of what we conservatives are trying to conserve. One Nation Under God, Period!
Trials and tribulations come with both a purpose and a reward. “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (James 1:2-4,12).
I gotta admit, you Republicans set a pretty high standard . . .

Mr.Hawkins:DUH!
“beavercleaver:
I went to a TEA party, and although it was pleasant and orderly, you could still feel the palpable discomfort of the crowd. We cannot stand using their tactics, it makes us feel creepy.”
That is absolutely natural: the vast majority of you have never done it before. (You’re “protest virgins”, so to speak.) You have lives, jobs, families. Who would think, in a million years, that you would do such a thing?
But your outrage was strong enough to show up, and it was stronger than your timidity. You were afraid that some a-hole from the Left would pellet you with everything but the kitchen sink – but you still showed up. And many more like you showed up. In fact, PJTV released the final count for the Tea Party Protests this week: over 937 thousand. That’s close to a million people! Think about it: close to a million people were timid before like you, but their outrage was stronger. Close to a million people stepped forward and said, “Enough!” Close to a million people who did that for the first time! That wasn’t bad at all, or was it?
Suddenly you and the others discover that you are not alone, that you’re stronger than you think. This is the beginning of the comeback. You are beginning to draw the battle lines. You are now realizing that the rules of Miss Manners won’t cut it for this. Politics is way beyond playing football.
This is war. The Left had declared war on us a long time ago. Just like Al-Qaeda. And we didn’t want to listen – we wanted to live as if nothing was going on. That time is so over.
Time to buy a copy of Sun-Tzu’s The Art of War, read it, and clutch it to your chest. The Left wants to take us all to Hell? Fine! Let’s take them there with us!
Finally! Someone who gets it!
Leftists wore “Sarah Palin is a Whore” t-shirst outside of McCain rallies and no one made an issue of it. Instead Colin Powell was disturbed by the “tone” of the McCain campaign! Larry Flynt made a pornographic move about Gov. Palin to objectify and de-legitimaize her, and the media crowed about it. It should have been a major issue for Republicans.
This is a war to the knife.
59. AThinkingPerson . . . In the spirit of playing politics like the Left I submit to you Michelle Obama at a FOOD BANK wearing $540 tennis shoes. Enjoy.
I wonder why we never saw Laura Bush in her $700 hairdo at a food bank. Hmm.. Could it be because she wouldn’t be caught dead at a food bank?
Again, First you think, THEN you type.
Good thinking, but how to get the information out effectively? The MSM won’t print, publish or telev ise it, nor will liberal blogs. Indeed, that’s probably the main reason Bambi was elected. I guess the conservative blogsphere just has to keep repeating whatever turns up until even they must pick it up.
Anyone got any ideas?
87 Jack H . . . Which is worse? That or this:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/09/mccain-palin-rally-attend_n_133240.html
In the spirit of playing politics like the Left I submit this reasonable question of whether or not TeleBama will be taken to task for his false info of creating 150,000 jobs (doubtful)…
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/john-stephenson/2009/04/30/will-media-challenge-obamas-false-claim-creating-150-000-jobs
Sheesh: Not going to defend Michelle’s $540 tennis shoes I see?
D=wah. The head of Pepsi, along with Soros and the head of Progressive had a secret meeting after one of Bush’s elelctions and put this plan in place, so Pepsi is another boycott.. Sad to say, but Chrysler and GM should be boycotted, as they will be run by the Union..
jack:
It’s called Word of Mouth. That is probably the most effective tactic out there. Not even the MSM can stop a million wagging tongues throwing darts in their general direction.
WE surround US. No, wait . . . THEY surround THEM . . . hmm . . . I surround THEM . .. no, that’s not right either . . . I’m gonna hit Google. I’ll be right back.
Delia: It would have made the taxpayers forking out for $540 tennis shoes almost not as painful if they had been cute but these were some seriously ugly shoes. No accounting for taste I guess.
IF the Left has a protest, show up. Have signs. Camcorder. Hidden cameras. Anything you can to record info and show it to millions on the Net and Sean Hannity.
It also helps to have some self-defense training with you… in case they jump at you like hungry wolves.
92. AThinkingPerson:
Sheesh: Not going to defend Michelle’s $540 tennis shoes I see?
I don’t think they warrant an attack or a defense. You obviously feel the same way about Palin’s wardrobe.Do you EVER MAKE A POINT instead of just grunting?
newton:
Let’s hope.
Agreed – it is time to take off the kid gloves. But what to do? Stop supporting companies that bank roll some of these idiots. Submit letters to the editors when the paper prints outrageous stories on good people. Hold reporters’ feet to the FACTS. Call and write TV and radio stations that are obviously slanted and call them on it. Boycott movies and TV shows because of outrageous plot lines and stories. Actually call into radio talk shows and voice your opinion about the news and/or stories and their slanted versions. Push back on unthinking bloggers – get the facts and express them. I could go on…..
We have got to fight back before we no longer have a country that believes in freedom.
At colleges, have your voice recorders ready. Hidden voice recorders. Get the info. Upload it to the Web. Let the whole world know about the scorpions we’re dealing with. Send it to college parents – tuition-paying parents. And to endowment-paying alumni. And to your state legislators, if necessary. Send it to your local media. Make sure everyone you could think of knows about the Marxism/Anti-Jewish/Anti-American stuff going on.
Make sure no one in this nation can deny it with a straight face.
Is this guy serious? None of these suggestions are even remotely doable.
Take the University speaker example. If some lefty like Ayers or Moore was treated with one iota of disrespect while at a speaking event, the individuals who disrupted the event would be expelled, no questions asked. Oh sure, you could argue that they could sue and be reinstated, but how many kids want that kind of hassle and disruption?
“Opposition research” will go nowhere because the organs of information that most people get their information from (hint hint, it aint the NY Times or CNN) will never make it into the public area in any meaningful or significant way. Pop culture and the entertainment industry have always been the primary drivers of political dialogue in this country and have moved every significant debate about social and economic issues in this country.
Stalin once said that if he controlled Hollywood he could control the world. Where he failed his intellectual and political spawn have succeeded.
If you want to do something significant, turn your TV off, never buy another copy of People or US Weekly, don’t ever go see another movie that is directed, produced or employs actors who actively lobby and use their influence against everything you believe in.
Winning the popular culture war is the most important thing we can do.
If the left sustains this level of agitation that we have seen for the past 4 years, I see a real possibility of civil war.
There’s more to do, jack.
You know that a certain retailer is giving waaaay too much money to MoveOn.org. Then, spread leaflets in the neighborhood closest to the retailer. Wag your tongue out. Have a sign or two near the place, where everyone can see it. If it’s taken down, show up an hour later and put it back up. If they take you to jail because of it, so be it. You have the First Amendment on your side: they can’t deny it to you.
Tongue-wagging is quite effective, positively or otherwise. Do you know how many moms out there have told me that the Harry Porter novels were written by a witch? I heard many, many moms say so for the longest time. I have tried to tell a few of them that’s not the case, that this is a legit author who counts C.S. Lewis as one of his favorite authors. Sorry, no can do. The tongue-wagging continued.
That’s the way it is, unfortunately. We can use it to our advantage.
Yeah, those shoes. Whew! A national disgrace. I prefer my first ladies to have a more stoic and reserved quality . . . something that can be achieved only through the liberal application of botox and zanax . . . mixed liberally with marital desperation and just a whiff of chain smoking. Well, why try to describe it . . .

Absolutely NOT.
It is not matter of “high moral ground”, it’s matter of not giving to the socialist-commies what they want: THEY want civil war. We want ONE NATION UNDER GOD.
Education, information, formation are the key words to defeat the totalitarians.
Don’t yell at the speakers, ask politely a question based on a LIFETIME of study, reflection, thinking.
Repeat and repeat.
Everywhere. All the time.
Being confrontational looks stupid.
And I have said A LIFETIME.
AND
call the cops against any and every leftist violence.
Write to the newspapers and to the TVs.
Publish a blog and publicize it.
The Freedom Fighters in America are paying today a high price for not having worked hard in the daily CULTURAL WAR at every level.
Look at what happened with Bush: agree or disagree with his policies: didn’t he have the time to go to a special class to learn to speak in public ? Why didn’t he ?
Look at Ann Coulter: she writes well, it doesn’t matter how controversial, but any time she appears on TV she can barely put together a sentence.
Can’t she learn to speak ?
Etc. etc.
THANK YOU for the opportunity to comment.
sheesh:
What would have been the reaction had Laura Bush appeared in public with such a tacky display?
sheesh: So are you actually giving links to the Huffington Post now? That explains a lot.
96. AThinkingPerson:
Delia: It would have made the taxpayers forking out for $540 tennis shoes almost not as painful if they had been cute but these were some seriously ugly shoes. No accounting for taste I guess.

They must have been made with the skins of baby seals or something to warrant that kind of price-tag.
Heidi–tx–I’ve heard something to that effect before, Soros chairing a meeting of this sort. It’s obviously orchestrated and fully funded. Have an article I could pass on?
Rush once touched on the way the market was manipulated to cause the first bailout (and the Oct. surprise and got the ball rolling), and it seems so traceable, but I never heard any more. Now THAT would be a story if that came to light. What’s amazing is Soros is feeling so confident he admits he’s “having a very good crisis”. If that isn’t thumbing your nose at us! That creep, after 9/11 when everyone was encouraged to get back in the market to get the economy rolling etc.–he shorted it! No doubt that’s what he did before he and others made a massive run on money which prompted Paulson to freak out and get Bush to make the first bailout blunder…. Lord
I will get on that acting “dirty” as soon as I stop insulting Daily Kos and Huff ‘n’ Puff articles everyday.
I have NOTHING good to say about hugobama or any of the little urchins on the left. Having me respond to them is a pain in the necks for them.
Ask my liberal family members.
#100 crux and #101 newton: Great ideas both! It’s time to actually DO something instead of just whining about it. It’s inspiring and encouraging knowing there are so many others out there ready to DO something for once.
This isn’t the first time that this idea has been brought up, although it is rare to see it. Fight fire with fire…sounds good. It might be nice; I would love little more than to take it to them in the streets, take to their havens, take it to their homes. I would love to return all the things they’ve done because we’ve been taking it on the chin while taking it up the a$$ for too long now & our kids will suffer for it.
Considering the pure hatred the protofascists express physically is made even more shocking when you consider that the first & most violently attacked conservatives are usually women – from female authors to soccer moms with ‘W’ or McCain/Palin stickers on their cars. The next group of horribly treated people are minorities who are smart enough to be conservative or are otherwise “acting white”; Larry Elder gets a ration of shit from all sides when he goes out in public; David Horowitz gets hounded & disrupted when he tries to speak on campuses; Ann Coulter gets urine pies hurled at her while Michelle Malkin is constantly called a “chink”, a whore, gets threats of rape & death, has her home address & other personal info posted online in the process while Geraldnose Rivera threatens to physically assault her.
So why refrain from doing all of that x 4 to them? Rising above does nothing while their attacks get worse and worse. They spit, hurl bodily waste, hurl molotovs, blow shit up, riot, beat people up, threaten businesses owners with boycotts & property damage, threaten women with rape, stifle free speech everywhere, sue evryone, aid illegal activities across the board. They even go so low as to assault children of everyday conservatives. Usually they get to do so anonymously, but even if they’re found out they get a pass. And what do we do?
We call shenannigans. That’s about it.
So-called comedians regularly emanate such vitriol that would bring Hitler to his feet & a tear to Stalins eye. Film & TV producers churn out the same anti-American, Anti-Christian & anti-Conservative tripe over and over again. They bitch endlessly about McCarthy-era blacklists like it was their Aushwitz, but try & see if there is acceptance and support for conservative actors, much less producers; you want to see a blacklist in action? Try to get a conservative in Hollywood to be open about what they believe & then see how much work they get thereafter. And what do we do?
We hope Jack Bauer makes a good showing for us.
Even just in the “free media”, dissent is stifled & threatened with litigation for “hate speech”. I was wondering earlier why there are few – if any – conservative reporters/journalists at press conferences where the Pretendsident is attempting speech. F*cking morons like obama are gleefully insulated from criticism while Pelosi & her clones routinely gave press passes to leftist blowhards during conferences & hearings? And what do we do?
Not much.
Remember that fool with the red paint on her hands who was taunting Condi on her way into a senate hearing? Why was no one kicking her yellow, hate-spewing teeth down her throat immediately after? Why indeed…
We don’t support our homefront warriors like we should. We’re afraid to go out & meet the “peace protestors” head on bacause we don’t support one another in sufficient numbers in public; we know that going to a “peace rally” alone or with a couple of others will result in getting our asses kicked, and the police will do little about it because they’re scared, too. They fear the lawsuits, they get pressured from higher-ups to make sure the protesters don’t get their rights violated or little feelings hurt, and if worse comes to worse, they’ll arrest the counter protesters for inciting a riot.
It’s nice to come to these blogs & talk a good game, but at the end of the day…
Well, you know.
97 . . .101 . . . Newton . . . I don’t know why but that name seems so PERFECT for you. Is that the kind of world you want to create . . . hordes of crazy people running around with hidden cameras and tape recorders? Why not just bug everyone’s telephone and computer? Oh, wait, we’re already doing that. Sorry, I forgot. Tell you what, I’m on my way over to your place to install a GPS tracking device on your car because, as we all know, the people who claim to be the most like us are likely to be agent provocateurs. And, of course, we’ll need to implant a small RF chip in your, well, let’s just say it will only hurt for a moment. We just can’t take the chance that you are really with them when you say you’re with us. Let not your heart be troubled. I’ll be watching you watching me watching you watching. And thank you for your service.
“No more Mr. Nice Guy” from those wunnerful folks who brought us Master Lee Atwater?
I guess the neocomradely community have given up *carin’* how their monkeyshines look to anybody outside the cage.
Happy days.
Just so you know who/what you’re dealing with, I submit the following post (from another article on PM). No comments from me needed.
“16. sheesh:
7 Laleh . . . yeah, but . . . but . . . oh yeah . . . well . . . what about . . . uh . . . and then there’s . . . uh . . . SUCK ON THIS! Next time make an argument instead of just spewing your commie crap! We . . . Deal . . . With . . . Facts.”
This is the typical TeleBama voter we’ll be facing in 2012. Plan accordingly.
Crux: Great specifics. It needs to be in their face!
Sheesh–like a dog whistle, you’re so shrill I can’t even hear you. (But I guess you get your fellow dogs barking…) Why don’t you find another place to play if you don’t like us so much. Or is this your moveon.org assignment, screwing with us? (I don’t think the Acorn nuts can type..)
That’s the last I’ll acknowledge you. Now shush, sheesh, please, unless it’s a worthy comment. You’re taking up bandwidth–although you do provide a great “teachable moment” once in a while….
sheesh:
A typical response. My guy/lady is a jerk, but so is yours, so it’s OK.
It’s not that glitzy sneakers are a national disgrace. It’s the hypocrisy that would have oozed out had Laura worn them.
I have studied Martial Arts for many years. We always teach our student not to look for fights. We tell them to avoid them if at all possible.
However, when you are in a situation where you can not walk away or get out of it you have but one option and that is to defeat your enemy.
You do not think of losing or wining you think of eliminating the threat but all means available to you.
We need to get out word out about the liberal attempt to take over America. They have taken down most universities, the ACLU is helping change laws in their favor. It is not a physical battle but one of laws. The educational institutions have taught one view and that is how we have gotten an extreme liberal as President. We need to fight to eliminate the threat by changing messages in schools, return to morals, trust and the American way as written by our forefathers.
The top of the Washington Monument says “Praise to the Lord” our morals come from our beliefs that are threatened on all fronts.
Please enlighten us. What precisely was wrong/unethical about how either the veterans or Rove conducted himself (links to Kos Konspiracy Komments don’t count as evidence)?
Jim-I didn’t know that about the top of the W. Monument–cool. I bet they’ll try to erase it, like they put “In God We Trust” around the edge of the new dollar coin–not only can you not read it, it’s designed to wear off!
Pardon me, but with the highest respect, what an idiotic article. Who is this author? Gordon Liddy’s cousin? A Don Segretti wanna be? (If you’re too young to remember those names, think of someone tearing down an opponent’s campaign signs at night and getting caught on TV).
Nothing wrong with bringing out legitimate information And we should: (Katy Couric marching in demonstrations, Al Gore’s vast energy-gulping mansion etc.)
But shouting people down at events as the left does is disgraceful and will backfire on the GOP if it tries. The GOP is supposed to act like adults; they hurt themselves when they don’t. That silly behavior ERASES the difference between them and the nutty left.
This isn’t what you stand for!
The GOP didn’t lose in 2008 by being placid, but by the crippling weight of the big ball and chain of 12 years of incompetence and corruption– and offering tired old John (“are your dentures loose?” “Do you wake up in the middle of the night?”)as our “best” man.
The man with no clue about what he believed in except being a “maverick,” whatever that was supposed to mean. Even he wasn’t sure. Despite his honorable showing as a POW 40 years ago, he stood for nothing in 2008.
Besides, we want to impress and CONVERT the swing voters and honest peopel who voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004 but “went Obama” because the GOP FAILED to give them a real choice and had sullied their own reputation for 12 years. Oh and the economy was falling apart because Bush nominees ahd let bankers run wild and were sleeping at the FDIC and SEC.
You don’t need to be a jerk to sell the GOP: Nixon went over the press to the people and it worked. Bush, however, acted like politics was a beltway issue–he ignored people and spoke to Cheney and senators. He was inept at press conferences (Nixon and Reagan were not) so he stoppe dholding them. The entire GOP for 12 years ignored the People while they coddled lobbyists like mistresses.
So don’t become the problem; FIX the problem. Don’t abandon your ideals becasue others before you dropped them in the trash: pull them out and be what you should be. And that is not anything like the kooky people that throw pies at speakers.
You and we are all better than that! And remember, people voted Bush in 2000 and 2004–they want to vote for a responsible person. They eected reagan twice. Its the current GOP that has failed not you. And they failed by losing their ideals, not because they didn’t act like total jerks.
Want to criticize Obama for releasing the meos? Yes! But how did the GOP do it? They didn’t put something on YouTube, or a commercial on TV. They didn’t send out speakers. They stayed…in D.C. making speeches on the senate floor. Where their audience is almost zero. Once again ignoring the people. Morons.
Go back to the People. With ideals. And mean it this time.
(PS: college students aren’t stupid. They see who acts like a nut. They see it. So give them an alternative not an imitation) (“A choice not an echo”).
Sorry, sheesh, buy you and your ilk declared war on us a long time ago.
We are on the process of returning you the favor. So beware.
self-hate: what was wrong with the swift boaters? That’s exactly what we should be doing! If that wasn’t true it wouldn’t have had the effect it did! The sleaze of the story you’re pointing to is lying traitor John Kerry Heinz 57!
The question that remains for me is I’m fired up and ready to do what I can in my own little world here but how can I get my elected representatives to do the same? Any ideas on how to goad those bloated politicians into action? I think if the elected GOP’ers already in Washington actually did what we elected them to do, we wouldn’t need to be hashing this out. I know “vote the bums out” is always an option but we’ve got a few years yet to suffer through. Anyone?
The left loves attacking us for violating our own standards (which often we deserve). However they never get called to task on violating their own.
I think a better method of attack would be to create an non-profit organizations that put pressure on government to make sure that all public servants have to monitor their carbon output, electricity usage, and water consumption and keep them at or under the national average. Other ideas would be mandating that all government officials would be REQUIRED to send their kids to public schools and use ONLY public health care. Each member of Congress should also be tax audited every year (if they aren’t already) All of this could be attempted through the courts under equal protection. This would go a long way in making their lives as miserable as they are attempting to make ours.
We are now waking up, and soon enough, we will be on your face. Like it or not.
We are stronger than you think. Beware.
self-hating boomer: Took the first line wrong and then missed your point, my apologies.
119
Self Hating Boomer: Please: don’t confuse arguments you don’t like with leftists shouting down people and preventing them from speaking.
The Swift Boat vets had a point of view: they aired it which was their right in response to Kerry’s effort to wrap the flag around him “(remember “John Kerry, reporting for duty”?). Just like Dan Rather aired the “fake but accurate” memos trying to smear Bush. John Kerry is perfectly able to publish his side of the Swift Boat story where soldiers who were there disputed his claims. But wait–he still hasn’t released all of his military records has he?
Synch,
The Left has no standards and no laws, except for the Law of the Jungle.
Once again I am flabergasted by the lack of credibility and support for a thesis such as your own: That liberals are using below the belt tactics against Repbulicans.
1) Joe the Plumber embraced his media spotlight, going so far as to hire a publicist. Thus he knew full well the sort of attention he was about to recieve.
2) Sarah Palin, rather unfortunate how she was scrutinized relentlessly, also invited her own problems by making poor choice in word (“I like all newspapers,” said the journalism major….). Since then it has not been liberal media machine but the paparazi media machine that has been stoking the fires of her daugheters relationship issues.
3) You claim that conservative speakers are shouted down at school campus, yet provide no links to actual, reported events of that happening. Further more, the accusation that these publicly funded schools are promoting and encouraging such behavoir is unfounnded. Students pay money to attend such schools and thus recieve the education they want. If it happens to be of a more liberal bent, your out of luck. The schools would not even invite the speakers, let alone provide security to allow them to speak, if they school wanted to promote an only liberal agenda.
4) Your claim that former President Bush wanted to promote a new tone, yet again provide no examples. Seems rather hard when he was promoting wedge issues like a national ban on same-sex marraige, coming up with extremely weak justifications for torture and using executive orders more than all other Presidents in history combined.
Overall, I give your arguement a 4/10. With cited evidence and a little less speculation you could have something really substansive on your hands.
112. AlanABQ: . . . Michelle Malkin is constantly called a “chink”, a whore, gets threats of rape & death, has her home address & other personal info posted online in the process.
And your proof? Meanwhile . . .
In an extraordinary lapse of both common “netiquette” and overall decency, Republican bootlicking extremist Ann Coulter has posted a personal phone number and email address of BRAD BLOG Guest Blogger Lydia Cornell on the front page of her website with a link to the post again on her “Quotations from Chairman Ann” page.
Everybody . . . First you think, THEN you type.
But because you can’t think, you do this . . .
“So-called comedians regularly emanate such vitriol that would bring Hitler to his feet & a tear to Stalins eye” . . . followed by . . . “Remember that fool with the red paint on her hands who was taunting Condi on her way into a senate hearing? Why was no one kicking her yellow, hate-spewing teeth down her throat immediately after? ”
You’re making this very easy for us. You simply must raise your game if you expect to compete.
119 self hating boomer: oops. me too. sorry.
Simple simple solution here folks. Get Texas to succeed, rename it Jesustan, and move yourselves, the neo cons, evangelicals etc there. It’s a win-win for America and a win-win for those who want to live in the dark ages. Schools will ban science, hospitals will only offer prayers, etc. On top of that , the USA will gladly seal the southern border, keep errant Jesustonians from wandering across.
as a great American once said, let’s get er done!
Great post — I noticed that they had a tea party for the ZERO photo op and carbon consumption wasting display in St Louis Wednesday … We need to meet the ZERO everywhere he goes.
Republicans have been playing dirty for decades (remember Watergate and the Plumbers?). So stop whining and face the truth. They’re simply not as good at it as the Democrats. The proof of it is: we’re in and you’re out.
Hawkins, as usual, is an idiot – with Bill Clinton – for example, the right wing stopped at nothing to get him – searching through everything going back 30 years before he came to DC – dragging the trailer-trash swamps for any hooker who would utter a foul word about him – finally, employing Luciannus Shiteberg to work closely with Ken Starr to set up a perjury trap. Palin has destroyed herself – it was SHE who seemed retarded with kaite Curic, it was SHE who couldn’t answer simple questions or made outrageous staements – it was her daughter who bred with a miscreant who’s now going to the press…
Only a blogger who advocates fighting evil with torture would advocate fighting liberals by acting like liberals.
sheesh:
Michelle a “chink”????? Hate speech if I ever heard it. I’m forwarding your comments to the ACLU.
D-wah,
The monument has ‘Laus Deo” Praise be to God on it but it is 775 feet up. So there is a replica on display on the ground of the capstone.
However the ant-christians placed the replica such that you can not see those words they face a wall. The National Park Service was notified of this disgrace and said they would fix it so it could be read. They said this in 2007. I have not been to DC so don’t know if the Laus Deo can now be read on the replica.
Count me out.
Can’t regress to adolescence no matter how I try.
If the economy sucks OR we’re hit again, the Dems are through. Why resort to their brownshirt tactics?
Samir: what?
“Overall, I give your arguement a 4/10. With cited evidence and a little less speculation you could have something really substansive on your hands.”
But that would take work – Hawkins is credited as a professional blogger! What’s that? A guy who can’t do anything else but surf the internet and espouse nonsense! ANYONE who reads Hawkins knows what kind of alown he is…
Tomtom: Wow–more personal issues on display. Sorry for whatever happened to you. But you do help tip the scales for those not sure of your world view.
Because all I remember is Sarah Palin making a mockery of heself on national television by exposing the fact that she doesn’t read nor does she have a firm grasp on American policy, foreign or domestic.
Well, Muppet, what you “remember” (aka, the interpretation you were spoon fed by your handlers) and what the truth is are not, necessarily, the same thing.
As for Joe the Plumber, let me refresh yours (and sheesh’s) memory. Joe was tossing a football with his son when The One™ wandered down his street with his entourage and Joe asked him a question. Since Teh One didn’t have his Teleprompter handy, he actually uttered a candid reply about his (future) administration’s agenda for the new and unheard of role for the Executive branch of the government, redistribution of wealth.
For asking that innocent question and landing the Stumbling One™ in the hotseat, Joe was pilloried, investigated, lied about and, generally trashed.
I hope that you and sheesh are someday, personally, as investigated and trashed as thoroughly as Joe and Sarah were in the media. You’ll just cry foul at the top of your lungs, I’m sure, and never make the connection to what is done to other people.
‘Tis why barbarians always win – folks just don’t want to dirty themselves in fighting for survival so they end up as slaves or dead.
Delia and nonthinkingperson:
I love the level of your analysis – I have not heard anything like it since the fifth grade. Rachel – you must have been a terror on the playground! I am sending the below quote to all my independendt friends to show the quality of wingnutery discussions:
“Dayum! Her ‘Gucci-Gyno’ fashion sense is not kewt.
Bleh.
-And, they put Sarah Palin down for her ’spendy’ wardrobe? HA! -And, at least she dressed with CLASS. Not once did I see Sarah’s panty-lines or venus fly-trap bulging through a pair of tight pants.”
Why are there so many trolls today on this blog ? Shouldn’t they be marching, celebrating May 1st under the glorious red flags of the Obavez administration ?
All commies do that, worldwide.
Don’t be shy !
Grab your red flag and march proudly !
You may even play speeches from your heroes, Chavez , Castro, the president of Iran.
And you must celebrate: you are winning, the revolution is coming to America !
Soon you will have a National Prison System, free for all !!!
And you will disarm the People, like hitler and stalin did.
And we will enjoy millions over millions of abortions more, to celebrate CHOICE ! and to get finally rid of responsibility !
March gloriously in this May 1st, in the first year of the Obavez Era.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
My bad.
I wrote
a National Prison System
I meant
a National Health System
of course.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
Why are there so many trolls today on this blog ?
Excellent question.
And I appreciated your essay on nihilism and liken it to the relentless demoralization (oh, this country sucks !) that Leftoids throughout history have relied on to manipulate their Androids.
#147 Sherab Zangpo: Couldn’t agree with your sentiments more but I have a feeling that since most of the trollers here seem relatively uninformed, they have no idea what day it is or why it would ever be celebrated. Sort of like TeleBama thinking Austrians spoke “Austrian”.
Starve the Vampire. Repeal the 16th Amendment(income tax)through a Constitutional Convention. Yes we can!! You need a majority of states which conservatives have. Cut the legs off a Federal Government gone beserk! The 21st Amendment repealed the 18th(Prohibition). Yes we can!
Fighting back with the same armament is a very sensible idea. However, doing so will ALWAYS be reported/portrayed in the media as biased. Just see what happened with the “tea parties”. Instead of being portrayed as anti-taxation without representation demonstrations, they were portrayed in the media as anti-Obama, and, hence RACIST. That’s always the unanswerable end game, it seems. But keep trying!

“‘Tis why barbarians always win – folks just don’t want to dirty themselves in fighting for survival so they end up as slaves or dead.”
The commies have a long way to go to build such a regime that we can discuss as if we had to “fight to survive” and they will presumably destroy themselves long before putting down the first significant stone of their prison.
They are going fast, but the answer until now has been fast too and at this pace they will not survive the 2010 elections (if played correctly).
Anyway, we have tolerated thirty years of cultural war without answering, that is the problem.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
‘sheesh’ and ‘The shadow’ sittin’ in a tree…K-I-SS-I-N-G. Now get a room, you two!
There. How’s that for school-yard tactics?
Nyuck!
You silly little Kos trolls. You’re so cute when you get all puffed up and self-righteous. Aww. Such shining examples of the left.

Thank you for your attention to my comments (and articles).
Sheesh 131-
Proof? For starters, I wasn’t actually addressing you, but even if I spelled it out for you in monosyllabic terms, I doubt if you’d belive me or even comprehend it. It’s in a book she wrote, but I know how getting information causes that cognitive dissonance you all hate so much. Plus, you would have to venture outside to a library or bookstore, thereby exposing your translucent skin to the world at large, and I know how scary that can be for small-minded anemics.
I’ll tell you what: you have internet access, and there’s this search engine called “Google”; You can research it yourself. The adults here know what I’m talking about, so if you don’t get it (like so, so many other things in this life), that’s your own problem.
Now, if you think that I’m a hypocrite, then at least we have that in common. I love the fact that you absolutely hate the idea of the protofascists getting what they’ve been giving…and you clearly do; otherwise, you wouldn’t bother with the semi-coherent baiting. I do hope you’ll keep trolling these threads; it just illustrates the points being made here.
Don’t like what I have to say? Hate what’s being said by others? Try & stop it, li’l bitch.
Cheers!
In the spirit of playing politics like the Left, I submit this information about a Congresswoman admitting that government run healthcare will bankrupt private healthcare (and that would be a good thing).
http://www.breitbart.tv/html/330913.html
I can’t believe how many responses this article generated in such a short time.
BUT: everyone has the perspective ALL WRONG. What is happening today is being viewed from the wrong angle. I just articulated this same sentiment in Jennifer Rubin’s article.
We all need to understand this is about “US vs. THEM.”
US: The American people – liberals, democrats, conservatives, republicans, libertarians … WE the people are in a battle for our liberty.
THEM: ALL politicians – democrats AND republicans, and the MSM.
Remember that old saying “United we stand, divided we fall.” Well, folks, I believe we are a house divided, but we’ve been divided the wrong way.
As I said in my other post: it’s the football team who wins the game, not the management. They stand up there in the VIP box, with catered service, protected from the elements while the football players grovel in the mud or snow or rain, taking the hits and getting the bruises.
Our government is growing beyond manageable proportions. Both parties have done this – not one more than the other. When a Republican sits in the White House, he has the power to veto a Democratic sponsored spending spree just as much as a Democrat president has the power to veto a Republican sponsored spending spree.
The scales are tipping, and they aren’t tipping in favor of the American people.
Ultimately, I believe liberal Americans want the same thing as conservative Americans: the freedom and liberty to pursue our own interests without governmental interference. We both want our government to be held accountable for flawed legislation, for pork stuffed bills, for kow-towing to special interest groups at the expense of their constituents.
We both want our tax burden decreased so that we have the opportunity to invest where and how we want, give to the charity of our choice, and help drive our economy into a full recovery.
We want to feel safe and secure with the knowledge that outside threats are not able to infiltrate our communities to destroy us from within, and are not able to lob a missile unhindered at us to destroy us from without.
We want to know that the people we HIRE to represent us understand that they have been granted a very high honor, and that they’d damn well better SERVE us to the best of their ability.
I’d like to think most of us would agree, through reason and logic, that a government which over-reaches its authority is no longer a government of the people, by the people and for the people. It’s a tyranny and eventually, the people will be the subjects rather than the citizenry.
If we allow our Constitutional authority to be stripped of meaning through flawed legislation brought about by career politicians, then we will no longer be “America” or “The United States.”
We all need to recognise what we risk losing by allowing our government to run amok.
I think the Republicans are sitting back to let this administration(?) show the American People how incompetent and tyrannical it really is. There’s sooo much material to illuminate the short-sighted, unprofessional decisions these idiots are making every day. Republicans are just keeping their powder dry for the most opportune moment.
This administration, and the main stream media think the American People are fools. They shall see.
#156 AlanABQ: re “thereby exposing your translucent skin to the world at large, and I know how scary that can be for small-minded anemics.”

We all need to recognise what we risk losing by allowing our government to run amok.
Well, given such statements as Specter’s this week…(“I’m not gonna let my goddamn Republican Pennsylvanian constituency not elect me, I own this Senate seat, 29 of my 79 years have been spent with my skinny butt sitting in it…” (ok, I paraphrase…)
…It might seem that the prevailing assumption is that we the people don’t have much say in the thing anymore.

Aside from all the really unpleasant vitriol being spewed in the comments (from calling everybody who disagrees with you a “troll” to the delightful “li’l bitch” of AlanABQ), something very profound is missing from Mr. Hawkins’ article: A reason to do as he suggests. The only justification provided for engaging in these behaviors is that, well, the other kids are doing it. Mr. Hawkins’ offers up nothing more than the following vague hope:
“Using the exact same tactics against the left that it uses against the right may very well be effective.”
No reasoning is provided that suggests these tactics will be effective; moreover, there’s no description of what “effective” means. Electorally? Socially? Policy-wise?
But no matter, as the results of the proposed behavior are clearly not something of great interest to Hawkins, as he explains in the subsequent, closing paragraph:
“Even if it isn’t, it may at least convince them that such tactics ought to be off limits on both sides.”
How likely is this? The whole premise of Hawkins’ article is that the result of one side engaging in this behavior should be that the other side also ought engage in it. Does Hawkins have such respect for liberals that he believes, once faced with the prospect of a further descent into petty, destructive vindictiveness by all concerned, they will come to their senses and pull back from the brink?
I suspect not. My sense of this, without knowing Hawkins’ mind or those of the many here who agree with him, is that there is no expectation at all of any positive benefit due to lowering what are supposedly high conservative standards of conduct. The only motivation I can see is spite.
TAX CUTS FOR 95% OF AMERICANS?
My backside! Lies the left tells.
http://greensrealworld.blogspot.com/2009/05/lie-tax-cut-for-95-of-americans.html
Scott: I do EXACTLY that every day of my life. I live in CA and I am surrounded by uninformed liberals. I proudly put stickers on my car and fight daily with my coworkers (boss). I prepare myself every day by reading everything around me and by believing that no matter how much I am mocked, and I am, I will not surrender. People in my office know not to say anything too far out because I will roll my eyes and start the fight. It’s a tiny world, I know, but if every one of us fought back it would help. There are MANY conservatives in my office but they never open their mouths. They will later come back to me and tell me they agree with me but they don’t want to engage. Ugh! It frustrates me!
Chris L? Which are you? Arlen Spector’s valet,or Meghan McCains personal assistant?
Look Chris L, the Left fights, thinks & orchestrates like pigs, of course, that’s a little mean to pigs. (healthy pigs are being culled in Egypt as we speak, poor things…)
The only operative remaining question relative to the topic in the above article is whether or not people who don’t think like Leftoids (rhymes with Hemorrhoids) should adopt some of their tactics or whether or not the should heed this advice, attributed as an old Texas saying…
“Never mud wrestle a pig, you’ll just get dirty and the pig likes it.”
I hope this helps. I’m sure it won’t.
(adios for the nonce)
Kermit,Peace,Oneofmyown,Hurley, and even the resident retard Vivo,
I wish you all a most glorious May Day, comrades! Be safe tonight (not too much Stoli, eh) and make sure you get your Prius back to the commune in one piece.
Sincerely,

Wow. A Lefty who actually lives up to their moniker. My eyes hurt from reading that but I *think* I corrected it for you:
“You right-wing nuts can’t ever compete with us, your tactics are old and stupid. Nice try, wing-nuts. ha-ha
We won. Deal with it.”
There ya go, stoney.
Maybe Chris is right. Because what we’ve been doing so far has been a smashing success, what with the political & media balance we enjoy so much.
Maybe, if we just hold out a little longer, the progressives will come around. Why, they might even apologize for all the nonsense, violence, and underhanded policies once they realize how much it’s hurting others not like them.
And when that happens, perhaps they’ll stop rooting for ideologies with the express intent of the eradication of capitalism, Israel, Christianity, and the Great Satan (that’s us, BTW).
Should happen any day now…
#164 Chris L: The motivation? To win the next election! Will the efforts be effective? There are never any guarantees but the outcome if we do nothing at all is too depressing to contemplate.
I think that the republicans will make a significant comeback in 2010-2012 if for no other reason than they are not the party in power at a time when the economy is in the tank. Oh yeah, and Iran is going to make Obama look like Carter. I have no faith in the Republican party to do the right thing, but I think these circumstances may force them to do the right thing. The solution to the economic crisis was never to hand out money, the solution was to de-leverage–to CUT SPENDING, to QUIT ISSUING DEBT!
But the cynical, corrupt good old boys… love to hand out money to their buddies.
So the next generation of republicans to enter office may be forced by circumstance to do this. The new vocabulary word is:Austerity.
tom and Warpublican,
keep up the great work – I look forward to ridiculing the both of you. Now, stop posting and get back to mowing my damn lawn!
u conservatives are a bunch of dorks. Nobody cares what any of u think any more so stfu and leave the internet to the real patriots who voted for the most amasing wonderful president in all of histery. u just cry like babys because our side which is most of america won. well keep crying because you are a dying race of poeple and your death rattles are already beig heard around teh world. sorry suckers but it is only going to get worse for you when our leader makes our world right after you all messed it up with your greed and selfshesness and creulty to animals and children and muslims and teachers. you are dead to us now. get used to feelig alone.
OK, I don’t like to be the one who complains about a problem but doesn’t offer a solution…so here goes…
I perceive that we don’t resist the Federal government as we should, after all, it is “We the people”. The Federal government doesn’t respect our natural rights as guaranteed by our Constitution. It now recognizes NO limits on its power to regulate private human behavior.
“We” give the government authority, not the other way around. Conversely, we can take away government’s authority as well.
The 16th Amendment, enacted in 1913, allowed the Federal government to levy an “Income” tax. There is absolutely nothing wrong with voting to rescind the 16th Amendment. A new Constitutional Amendment can overturn and nullify a previous Amendment. For example, the 21st Amendement repealed the 18th Amendment(prohibition).
There are essentially two ways spelled out in the Constitution on how to propose an amendment. One has never been used.
The first method is for a bill to pass both houses of the legislature, by a two-thirds majority in each. This is the route taken by all current amendments.
However,
the second method prescribed is for a Constitutional Convention to be called by two-thirds of the States(and Conservatives Do have this many states), and for that Convention to propose one or more amendments. This route has never been taken but because of the serious disease of the federal political process and its obscene, out-of-control spending this must be used! This was the process put in the Constituion to contain a federal government gone beserk! We would starve their spending out of existence.
I believe that there is only one way to change the massive decadent political system in our country – quit funding it. Money is the blood of these vampires and ‘We, the people” can take away the “right “of the Federal government to tax us. “We” amended the Constitution and “We” can rescind or repeal that Amendment. YES, WE CAN!!
Enough is enough. Rescind the 16th Amendment and start over.
Tell you friends to rescind the 16th Amendment.
Put a sign in your yard stating “Rescind the 16th Amendment”
Put up a similar billboard.
Send emails to your friends to rescind the 16th Amendment.
Etc,etc,..
Congress would take note if they thought all their funding was going to be cut off and maybe, just maybe………..
When you fear your government-that is tyranny, but when your government fears you- that is liberty! Hold onto your liberty and exercise your right to rescind the 16th Amendment.
Remember, all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing
Amen, brother! Remember during the 2000 recount in Florida when Republicans rushed the room where Democrats were “counting” the ballots? The election officials tried to move into an area where they would be unobserved (against the rules) and the opposition observers went ballistic. Scared the bejesus out of the Florida election officials and they stayed put. The newscasts were all aghast at how aggressive the Republican observers were. Well, yeah, and it was was about freakin’ time, too. There’s anger out here that can be put to good and constructive use. Show the leftists what it feels like to be on the receiving end of those kinds of aggressive tactics and see how much they like it. They’ll learn quickly enough that their decades of bad behavior had consequences and now they’ll have to waste time and resources fighting what we’ve been dealing with for so long.
Aside from the fact that it’s unethical, it doesn’t work. Joe Liberal comes along and slaps you on the back of the head. You turn around and belt him. Ten minutes later he has you arrested for assault, your name plastered all over the news as a child molester/hitler/racist/sexist swine, and his lawyer is suing you for his emotional distress. And that’s if you’re clearly defending yourself. If you pre-emptively belt him he squeals even louder.
Yes, poor conservatives. I am sure the “Swift boat veteran’s attack”, “palling around with terrorists”, “he is a muslim”, “michael j fox was faking it” “kay hagan is an atheist” were all valid, pure, nice, tactics from conservatives.
An honest lefty who admits she is drunk and stoned. Hate to tell you this sweetheart but you drank the kool aid when you voted, and you will stay stoned as long as the Messiah can keep you drunk and stoned on his own private brew called “OLD B.S.” really knocks you out doesn’t it.
CAharvakan: Unlike the lies of the left, the tactics were direct and they were distasteful and most importantly they were undeniably honest.
Good stuff. I told my wife the other day that “having two young children is no longer an excuse, we have to get involved.”
Totally agree. I learned as a youngster that “nice guys never win”. As a cop “if they use their fist you use your stick, if they use a knife you use your gun and cancel his ticket right there”. I am so tired of Republicans always on the defense. This is a fight worth fighting for and that fight is for freedom of government intervention.
Well said, John Hawkins. Very similar to what I wrote at my own blog back in December:
http://takemetoyourlizard.blogspot.com/2008/12/republicans-cant-just-play-game-they.html
There is only one reason that the left continues to employ gutter tactics: They Work.
The left will continue to use these tactics as long as they are working for them, or at least until the consequences for using them are so painful that they will change.
136- Warpublican-
“it was SHE who sounded retarded with Kaite Curic…”
Nice spelling job there, Ricky Retardo…
You combine some good ideas like opposition research against media types and all Democrat candidates with some things that will never work like attempts to disrupt leftist speakers on college campus.
I would also suggest using lawfare against effective Democrats in order to keep them busy staying out of jail and using up all their money on legal fees. How does that work? See Ronny Earl’s prosecution of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Congressman Tom Delay. See the case that dragged on against Karl Rove for more than a year. See the endless charges that continue to be brought against Sarah Palin. Democrats need to experience this stuff from the receiving end.
My personal suggestion would be to bring charges against Rahm Emmanuel. What to charge him with? Ask Ronny Earl if it matters.
Hawkins needs to read some Psalms. Lots of good material in there on how to respond when the evil person seemingly goes from success to success while the good person struggles along.
FOLKS!
STEP 1 of “playing (I’ll skip the “dirty,” ’cause it’s for the most part redundant…) like the Dems” is to
JUST IGNORE THE TROLLS.
STAY ON TOPIC.
Please don’t bother to respond to the Axelrod deflectors here….
Start by depleting their arsenal.
Buy nothing from lefties.
(Queer tactic used in California Prop 8)
No newspapers nor news shows
(Unfortunately they are pretty much all leftist)
No comments on them.
(Any discussion gives them more mind share so keep quiet about them)
I wouldn’t know Garafalo, Bernhard, Perez Hilton even existed if it weren’t for RIGHT wing news talking about them….
Shhhhh
You are right on 1000% !!!!
But one thing I think you’re wrong on, you say `The public doesn’t care’
I think the public does care, and they LOVE a good blood bath, the nastier the better. Why do you think the statists do so well with all the nazi trashing, etc…
So let it begin, the `politics of personal destruction’ like you say, I would love to hear more about Bill Mahers and John Stewarts personal lives, I’m sure theres lots of good trash there…
Clear, you need 3/4 of the states to ratify an amendment. That would be 38 states, not 26. Other than that, your idea is good.
This article still makes me laugh.
The Historian shared an excellent link that I’ll cross-post here too. All of 0bama’s lies are coming home to roost.
I hear Sarah Palin is a muff diver. Maybe somebody should look into that….
When one is trying to clear out sewer rats, one is liable to get a little smelly.
Well said … and hopeless.
There simply are no bigger pussies on planet Earth than Repubs and “principled” Conservatives.
Check out the new “Conservative/Repub” organizations designed to go around the RNC. Notice anyone’s name missing? Sarah Palin. Notice anyone’s name prominently present? John McCain.
For me these organizations are DOA. I simply will sit on the sidelines and let people “on our side” lose who continue to marginalize Sarah Palin and Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich.
Screw ‘em. When they get tired of losing, wake me. I’ll be here waiting.
I recall a time when the right was every bit as ruthless and unethical. I take you back to 2002, it was the run up to the war in Iraq. A time of freedom fries and Old Europe and Patriots standing steadfast against the fifth column who were all pro-terrorist or pro-Saddam. The same leading lights in the media save maybe Keith O all played along. MoDo likened anyone who opposed the war to effeminate wussies. Max Cleland was called a traitor as was Harry Reid. I’m no fan of Obama’s. I voted for Hillary and still think this guy is an empty suit but let’s be honest. The right is hardly as innocent nor as pious as Mr. Hawkins would have us believe.
194. JH Spyker:
Funny I heard the same thing about Michelle Obambi, and unlike Sarah, Michelle looks like one. Big stong arms, to hold `em down like, ay?
Ed #9, re the “redcoats” example, I like the sentiment but quibble with the analogy’s accuracy.
The British redcoats didn’t use linear tactics because they thought it was sporting — they did it because, by and large, they *worked*. The Hollywood myth is that the Revolution was a matter of savvy patriots hiding behind trees and shooting down the dumb plodding hidebound redcoats, but the facts are that most of the battles in the Revolution were more or less traditional set-piece European-style linear battles in mostly open fields.(Battles tend to get fought near places that people think are worth fighting over — like cities or rich farm country. If your plan is to hide behind trees, those settled places often don’t have enough trees to go around.) And the British mostly spanked us, because they were much better at that kind of thing.
The red coats weren’t meant to look sharp — the Brits (like the Romans) dressed their troops in red so bloody wounds wouldn’t look quite as horrific, and weaken the morale of the men who had to stand in line trading volleys with the enemy at point-blank range until one side panicked and ran.
Not to run down Washington & Co., but the Brits, mostly, won the Revolution on points. Their main problem was simply that (as some of their generals feared at the outset) that crushing the American insurgency militarily just wasn’t going to work. The Brits had to destroy Washington’s army; all he had to do was keep an army in being and wait until the other side exhausted itself politically.
sh(l)eez – it is “agents provocateur”, like attorneys general. Just sayin’. Now duck from my flung poo, if you wish.
190. JH Spyker:
No. I think you confused Sarah for Obowma.
167. deguello: If you disagree with something I said, I invite you to say so.
168. tanstaafl, 171. AlanABQ, 172. AThinkingPerson: I agree that the question is whether the right should adopt these tactics. I have not heard an argument in favor of this that sets forth any positive benefits to be gained by doing so. AThinkingPerson at least stated the a goal – “to win the next election” – but have you thought through whether these tactics, if adopted, will improve those odds?
Remember that the tea parties were the START of the exercise, not the finish. Perhaps if we start combining the “will carry” movement with the “tea parties” we’ll be moving to the next phase.
Umm, we can’t act this way because we’re the good guys. If we act badly, as do quite a few on the left, then we become the bad guys. Being a good guy is always harder. Shooting first is always easier. Not firing until fired upon is always harder. But that’s how it is.
The Dalai Lama has been in exile for fifty years. You think he should compromise his values and start shooting back at the Chinese? Nope. Don’t think so. Even if he won, he would lose.
As for me, I’ll keep fighting the good fight. We can’t lose ourselves in the process or the victory won’t mean anything. It’s not us, as individuals, that matter. The victory is not for us. The principles matter. The ends never justify the means.
Sucks to be the good guy, don’t it?
We always say we are going to fight, but we never do. Nobody ever stands up to and blasts the jerks on congressional committees. The Bush administration just sat there and took it. Now the House and Senate Republicans are just saying “no” and not offering anything as an alternative to the new USSA. Tea parties are nice, but they are marginalized by the MSM, and don’t get the play that a few Code Pinkers get. There is no clear national statement that the Dems are wrong and here’s why, and here’s what we should do instead. There is no national compaign to counter the transformation of the country into a disfunctional European style state with a permanent governing class of people who don’t produce anything, supported by subsidized voters who don’t pay anything. If the GOP doesn’t get off its duff soon, all we will have to console us is Victory Gin, at least until it is banned by Sharia.
Sheesh- good manners dictate that I admit to misspelling your moniker. Your nearly complete irrelevance to me is at fault. How about I buy you a bottle of spf 100 to make it up? Quick, duck from the poo. ;-}
As a sidenote to #191 SeanLA and others interested in media that dares to take on the Hollywood Left-Elite, you’ll find this website VERY interesting. In fact very timely as today they are highlighting articles about John Stewart (and others)….
http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/
Sadly, the Republican side doesn’t seem to have anyone who knows how to do real research. The Bible doesn’t say anything about Nancy Pelosi, any more than it says anything about evolution. Only RINOs like Charles Johnson try to maintain any sort of scientific rigor, and they’re all traitors because of it.
Thank you. It’s time, way past the time really, that someone stood up and said what needed to be said. The Republicans and/or conservatives are trying to fight the democrat/liberal smear and attack machine with one hand tied behind their back. Screw that!! Come out fighting like you mean it and don’t be reluctant to tell the democrats or the liberals that they’re wrong, or what they are saying is racist or hateful or that they are just flat out liars. You can’t take a knife to a gun fight and expect to come out the winner.
Amen brother. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
I’ve often wondered why opposition research isn’t done on journalists. The fact that someone belonged to the Communist or Marxist party in college is totally relevant to their credibility.
The left has long operated on a model of destroying the character of the opposition and then dismissing all future statements from that person based on the predetermined narrative. See Hillary Clinton’s recent comments on Cheney and her belief that he isn’t “credible” in response to him pointing out that not releasing the results of heavy interrogations when they released the methods was rather effective. She didn’t address his statement – she fell back on the tried and true character assassination of Cheney as an excuse to ignore the very truthful and accurate point he made. The media went with the “ooh, look at the Clinton burn of Cheney” story instead. The results of the interrogations came out anyway and it turned out that Cheney made one hell of a good point – “Those were the methods, let’s see the results”.
If it works, do it. Just because they came up with it first doesn’t mean we shouldn’t use it and use it shamelessly. What does Jon Stewart do in his spare time? Little boys? Little girls? Both? What about Olberman, the baseball card magnate. Why does anyone listen to someone who plays with kid’s toys? Who is Secretary of State Clinton sleeping with these days? We know it probably isn’t Bill because he is too busy sleeping with everyone else. Thus far Obama is managing the country like he intends to destroy it – is that because he really was a Muslim after all?
No lines. No limits. No prisoners.
Destroy their credibility, destroy their life, go after their family, friends and associates. Any dirt is good dirt. Any linkage is good linkage. If there isn’t any, you don’t have to draw the whole picture – just enough hinting at the edges to let people draw their own conclusions.
They do it to us constantly. Turnabout is fair play.
Game on.
The GOP hasn’t had an in-your-face strategist since Lee Atwater. He must be turning over in his grave.
As a number of commenters have noted, it is wrong and a violation fo principles to shout down a speaker who is civilly expressing ideas you disagree with. However, I can make a suggestion to conservative college stuedents. Shout down the protesters. Find out who they are. And follow them in a yelling, screaming protest of their behavior. Outside their classes. Outside their dorm rooms. Make them spend their time at school extra special.
JH Spyker; I heard you were a teabagger–OH, no I didn’t–I made it up—Like you and the Palin comment! Thanks to you and your ilk, I now know what teabagging is; and you’re disgusting.
I have one question,
Is there a website or foundation that lists the owners of liberal business and how they voted or which candidate they supported? Locally I know some of the business owners and how they voted or who they supported. I know of one local restauranter who will never get my business again, for instance. I know a local bakery owner who is very conservative and I always buy products from him even though I have stopped spending money on a lot of things due to the recession. If you hit people in the wallet it gets the message home. Just asking.
I tend to agree with this author. If the GOP wants to regain significance we need to stop being patsies and enabling the Dems.
I don’t know which is the worse reaction to the author: Lefty loons saying “You evil people already are hateful. Look at all the mean things Sarah Palin said at her rallies” Or the Righties singing the “We’re better than that, don’t sink to their level, or the best – being nasty doesn’t work.”
I’ve not read all of the comments, but perhaps the first 30 or so.
I’m one of those 9/11 conservatives, socially liberal but fiscally conservative, and strong on national defense.
Here’s the problem with this. If the conservatives act like the far left has, then they will lose me.
203. Vejadu:
“Remember that the tea parties were the START of the exercise, not the finish. Perhaps if we start combining the “will carry” movement with the “tea parties” we’ll be moving to the next phase.”
Excellent point. -And, for some odd reason your name gives me Déjà vu.
206. Monkeypoointhezoo:
Thank God for Coulter and Michael Savage who don’t mind mocking and ridiculing the pretentious twits on the left.
Make the Leftists’ corporate/bureaucratic enablers pay the price…
1. The print media enablers (NY Times, Boston Globe, Philly Inquirier, Minn. Star-Tribune, LA Times, SF Chronicle, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, etc.) are paying the price with their imploding balance sheets and circulation numbers. Question is, can Conservatives hang on long enough until these liberal mouthpieces are liquidated under Chapter 7?
2. “Joe the Plumber” — in fairness, the Ohio Director of Job and Family Services and two of her direct reports resigned under pressur for their unauthorized snooping into JtP’s personal information.
3. General Electric’s (NBC, CNBC, MSNBC) CEO was reduced to cutting off the microphone of irate shareholders castigating him and the board for GE’s affiliates’ blatant pro-Obama bias.
4. Founding Bloggers filed a lawsuit against CNN over the network’s DMCA takedown of footage of a CNN reporter’s meltdown at a Tea Party she was allegedly covering. In the meantime, bootleg copies of the reporter’s meltdown are available for viewing all over the net.
5. Dan Rather is still scrounging for work as a late-night reporter for some off-frequency cable channel.
6. Plenty of time to make plans for next year’s Tea Parties.
Name’em, shame’em, make sure you have video footage of the event. Even their chosen Messiah can’t wish away the market forces of gravity, much less make the seas recede and the glaciers re-freeze.
i do not for the most part, agree with this article.be calm be well informed, but don’t stoop to their tactics,it is ultimately self defeating.sheesh;your pretty good,as far as trolls go.i hope your being properly compensated.i am for the most part unconcerned about the lefts temporary hold of power.they are self destructive and their agenda is unsustainable.once the american people realize what these people have in store for them insofar as living standards/personal freedom go,it won’t be pretty.(it is already starting to happen)hard times are indeed ahead, but unlike the 30′s and 60′s they do not have a monopoly on the media.every time the pendulum swings in the left’s direction, their time in power grows shorter and shorter.
I even wrote McCain saying to attack or lose; I guess they trashed that letter.
I want to picket senators’ and reps’ local offices who have voted to spend and now to tax. But not the 912er origination I attend and of the 7 Tea Party organizers I know, only 1 would take this MLK tactic to his organization. With this attitude we have lost before we started since the politicians are ignoring the million or so “right wingers” who have turned out to protest. I may decide to go it alone.
I’ve always wondered this – when a conservative speaker gets shouted down on campus by 20 or 30 little snots, why does everyone in the audience stand around with their thumbs up their a**es?????? Seriously. Don’t you think that if they got up and started, well, kicking the s**t out of the little fascist bastards that those kind of shoutdown antics would stop? I sure do.
Conservatives act like a bunch of little girls. And it irritates me. We need to start knocking heads of the situation calls for it. Playing by the rules hasn’t worked. In fact, it’s emboldened the left so much that they now think they can get away with anything.
Ugh.
Yes we need to fight. But remember, part of the reason we’re in this mess is that a large fraction of Republicans because Democrat lites because they were “fighting back” in the same manner.
The left’s tactics are based on leftist philosophy. No need to worry about rationality or truth. Our tactics should be based on conservative or libertarian principles. We shouldn’t shut down left speakers so they can’t talk, but we should pelt them with tea bags when they’re walking down the red carpet at the academy awards ceremony. We should challenge them to debate. We should inform people with commercials and contributions to campaigns.
Remember, the left has just alienated some of their biggest sources of funding, and those 500k+people who attended the tea parties are all workers who can afford to make $1000 contributions to the right candidates. Something which could easily swing the next election when the eletorate gets a belly full of fascist corporatism .
My wife and I were two of the three organizers of a tea party in central Alabama that brought 5,000+ together on 4/15. We decided right after than that “Rules for Radicals” must be used against the very left that has espoused its dogma for the last 40 years. Looking forward to the fight…
Mr. Hawkins, this article is spot on. The right has been playing nice for far too long. However, the problem is the liberal media, painting conservatives who play dirty as “mean-spirited”, engaging in the “politics of personal destruction” and other You are right that conservatives must hire bodyguards; look at what has happened to Ann Coulter and David Horowitz – attacked with pies when trying to give a speech. Ann was able to duck and said the liberal couldn’t even throw as good as a girl.
The most effective way to combat liberalism is through their pocketbooks – boycotting sponsors, educating college benefactors, and other ways to diminish the money they receive.
The party of Karl Rove says it’s time to get dirty? Oh, boy. So does that mean Brown shirts and truncheons?
Seriously, any consversative attempts at mimicking actions of what are basically full-time activists will only look like posing. The one group to get it right during the Iraq war was Protest Warrior because it was all very tongue and cheek and brought humour into the deal.
Otherwise the right wing Brooks Brothers sect should stick to the snake in the grass tactics they already are experts in.
You ARE a genius… Do not allow anyone to stop your point of view.
shaui-jan: “once the american people realize what these people have in store for them insofar as living standards/personal freedom go,it won’t be pretty.(it is already starting to happen)hard times are indeed ahead, but unlike the 30’s and 60’s they do not have a monopoly on the media.every time the pendulum swings in the left’s direction, their time in power grows shorter and shorter.”
You must watch a lot of FOX News. The truth is that the upcoming generation is overwhelmingly Liberal. Young people voted Democrat in droves the past election, and it’s a well known stat that voters mostly stick with the party that gets their first vote.
So don’t hold your breath waiting for that pendulum swing. Time is not on your side.

P.S. I believe the optimal solution is to apply Alinsky’s Rule #5 back at them. That combined with #s 8, 10, 11 and 12.
The proper formulation and application of the attacks, using these rules, will be VERY effective.
There’s a consistent thread that goes into these kinds of positions–and believe me, liberals, who believe that it’s conservatives that play dirty, have the exact same conversation. The underlying, if perhaps unrealized, position is that:
1. Party A commits action X
2. Action X is immoral in case #1
3. Party B commits action X in response
4. Action X is moral in case #3
Do you see the problem? It’s been called various names, like “situational ethics” or “moral relativism”, but what it comes down to, in fact, is amorality. It is wrong to suppress speech. It is wrong to defame character. It is wrong to lie. It is wrong to spread fear and discord. These actions are wrong regardless of whether its you or your opponent who commits them, or who commits them first.
If you disagree with this, I can only imagine that you believe that the benefit of winning outweigh the wrong done. I hope you don’t feel this way. History is littered with the corpses of those for whom the means did not in fact justify the ends.

And use of the rules I pointed out earlier to attack those ‘pocketbooks’ would be a good approach.
Let US pick the ‘targets’. Then let US freeze them. After that let US personalize them. And finally, let US polarize them.

Find em.
Fix em.
Fight em.
Finish em.
It’s really quite simple, if you put your mind to it.

[Let's Roll!]
“Nah, I wouldn’t call Bush a moderate on domestic or any issues. I’d call him a reckless big spender who was totally clueless.”
Somebody karate chop me in the upper back!…I’m choking to death here! Baracky is going to double 233 years of national debt in five years (too bad he won’t be around to see year five) and Bush is reckless? Bush may have been reckess, so I guess that makes Obama the BIGGEST F**KING WRECK in fiscal history.
Good Christ! How do these people stay alive in the real world? I assume SteveB in Colorado isn’t bedridden in a hospital having his drool wiped off his face for him every hour–and yet he can write something so nakedly stupid and obtuse. Ah, that’s right: he’s a liberal.
As long as no lies are told, and the facts are clear, then I agree the right should start being just as aggressive as the left.
Right now, if some lefty gets into a guest speaker’s face and shouts him down, the idiot is given a medal practically by the faculty.
I don’t agree the right should do the same thing – after all, the right is generally smarter than that.
I’ve suggested it before elsewhere, and I’ll suggest it again here – these dweebs on college campuses should have their behaviour documented and posted in a publicly accessible forum, thereby giving potential future employers a resource to peruse when interviewing potential employees.
Video clips of them smashing a window – post it on that website! Photos of them behaving badly – post it on the website. If they are politically active in a truely idiotic fashion – post it on the website!
Conservative employers, in turn, should stop supporting the left by pointedly recruiting qualified employees from the right.
Someone drive up in a Prius with democrat and Obama stickers on the back – listen politely and then toss their resume in the circular file as they walk out the door!
It took a long time to get to this point, and reversing this tide won’t come about quickly, but it can be done.
Great piece and right on. But it’s too late. The time to do it was during the year long election campaign. The country crossed a threshold last November and now the left has the Presidency, Congress, the Supreme court in the not too distant future, the mainstream media, academia and Hollywood. They will not hesitate to use their power to stay in power. And there are too many ignoramuses like Blackwell now. Finally, effective attackers against the left will have the new Hate Crimes bill used against them.

I was a Democrat in the 1970s. I started voting Republican in 1980. And although I’ve never vote based on party, I’ve found that most of the candidates I voted for since then are Republican.

[A man who votes conservative before he is 30 years old has no heart. One who votes liberal after he is 30 has no brains. -- Unknown]
John:
Sheesh is a prime example of why the hate-filled left has taken over. You can’t go onto any conservative website without finding these idiots who try to take over the comments section, and plenty of otherwise intelligent conservatives let them.
There aren’t nearly as many unemployed conservatives who are willing to troll HuffPo or DKos and wade through their nasty insanity in order to get attention. And if we do, the moderators ban us for expressing a differing opinion.
PJ Media should lead the way in banning these obvious trolls. I don’t mean the ones who have differing opinions, I mean idiots like Sheesh (and many others) who don’t even have a point to make.
Chuck – Name one democrat you voted for
I have to agree with most of the posters here. We must hit the MSM where it hurts and notify their sponsors of our intentions. No one (that I’ve read as yet) has pointed out the success we’ve had with the liberal print media. There are stories daily about newspapers having to downsize or close altogether. Of course, they always claim it’s the economy etc., but even so, I say PILE ON to what this TeleBama economy has gifted us with and hit them where it hurts. FOX news already doubles the other news channels combined! With a little prodding, friends and family who are already fired up after attending a Tea Party could help the cause by not spending whatever TeleBama hasn’t yet taken at Liberal businesses.
It’s a start. I’m in.
“it’s a well known stat that voters mostly stick with the party that gets their first vote.”
Really? Care to back that up, sneering little lefty? I’ll wait here while you desperately Google for something to back up your made-up “well known stat.”
In any event, feel free to continue to believe it if it makes you feel better. I’m old enough to remember similar claims you idiots made in 1980. And 2000.
When the upcoming generation finds out what you leftists are doing to them and their economic future, they are not going to be so supportive. THEY are going to be the ones paying for Obama’s trillions of dollars in government bloat.
If ‘conservatives’ keep doing what they’ve been doing, they’re going to keep getting what they’ve been getting. The actions and blow-hard blather of ‘conservatives is so limp noodle ineffective why, it’s almost as if you’re a conspiracy of the Left you’re so impotent.
Change tactics??? Holy cripes, this was as obvious as gravity FIFTY YEARS AGO. But no. We’ve got to talk about it for a half century instead of rooting out the disease. You never negotiate with cancer and you’ve got to nip contagions, viruses and weeds in the bud. Otherwise … well, you end up WHERE WE ARE TODAY.
Let me explain … today we’re so far down the rabbit hole that even talking about “where’s the military in all this destruction of the United States from within” will bring out every blind, dumb emotion driven bootjack who can get near a keyboard to flame-war that question because … and here’s your proof …. what? The military is supposed to go all Caine Mutiny on these issues? You think the military is supposed to step in with violence restore the Republic? You ignoramus! How un-Constitutional!
To which I reply Thank God our forefathers weren’t this gelded. THANK GOD our Forefathers were willing to ACT.
This problem is not going to be solved with ballots, elections, legislation or “new tactics”.
Those who think so, please line up over there so we know who you are. You’re the dead weight around the neck of the only nation in the world that’s ever mattered. Those who recognize that the problem set into our very marrow nearly a hundred years ago is now metastasized into Stage Four fatal … please line up over here with those of us who know the truth and are ready.
Now, go yak yak yak amongst yourselves until the Census Acorns come to Reeducate you. Talk is absolutely the most ineffective thing you could be doing. At least your enemies know to ACT. And have the spherical fortitude to ACT. Ya’ll just talk and talk and blow hot air towards Rush’s telephone lines and yell at the radio and that’s all it amounts to because you’re not ready to ACT.

245. Chuck Pelto: Your apparent inability to offer a counterpoint without also sarcastically assaulting their intelligence, motivation or character doesn’t speak well to your ability to actually defend the positions you hold. That said:

Is this really what we want to come to? Becoming just as nasty and brutish to our opponents as they are to us? There’s a difference between going on the offensive and being obnoxious and downright evil. John McCain could have been a lot more aggressive in his campaigning (not that I think it would have made a lot of difference in a campaign against the media-anointed Obama) without turning out every dirty trick in the book. Have we already forgotten Reagan? He was shamelessly aggressive in pushing his beliefs and agenda in campaigning, but he didn’t let speaking the truth turn into digging out every single dirty secret, or smearing his opponents and trying to destroy their reputations. One of the reasons I’m a conservative is because I believe in being bold and honest in what is true–but there’s nothing bold or honest about resorting to the same shameful tactics of our enemies. They’ll destroy themselves by trying to implement their policies and revealing them as what they are, and it’s up to us to stand up for the opposition and keep those who will listen informed as to the real failures of this administration’s policies. Devolving the conservative movement into some TMZ-level slapfight with the left will bring us neither victory nor honor, and the former is worthless in the long term without the latter.
247. sheesh: Not a good comparison. If there are reasonably good odds that lives will be lost unless you rush on stage and shout down somebody peacefully expressing their opinion, then do it.

Sarcastic blurbs like these don’t address the content of what I’ve said, but instead attempt to belittle my statements through some random association with an unsavory character. If neither the law nor the facts are on your side, it might be time to reconsider your position.
I note that you didn’t respond to the content of my more recent response. Do you believe that it is moral to disrupt public speeches of those you disagree with with infantile behavior?
#260 Athinkingperson: It is not only at Huffington Post.
Try to have a civil conversation with a Liberal at any Liberal blog. They are not interested in a civil exchange of ideas. All they do is throw insult after insult. And if you pin them against a corner using their logic, oh boy.
This happened to me at Politico. I was debating about 15 Liberals at the same time. They were all screaming that Bush is a torturer and that he should be prosecuted and blah, blah, blah…
So, I turned it around on them and told them, that if Bush’s water boarding orders deserve prosecution for odering torture, should then Obama’s orders to bomb terrorist in Pakistan cause him impeachement for torture also? Think about it…
What is worst, to be water boarded for information or to have a bomb dropped on your head. Do people realize how a person dies from a bomb? Burnt alive, suffocated and torn to pieces? Is this not torture?
so, if Bush ordered torture through water boarding, Obama also ordered torture through bombings, right?
The guys at politico went crazy! All types of names were thrown at me. It was crazy!
I especially like grabbing a snubish, East coast Liberal who believes he/she is better than the rest of the world and putting their “logic” to shame.
Anyway, I do believe that Republicans and Conservatives need to a lot more savvy and use many of the same tactics that the left uses.
Like the ACLU, they threaten a law suit and most towns are terrified because if the town loses, the ACLU will also go after lawyer costs, monetary damage, etc. There are Conservative “ACLUs” that should be doing the same.
Liberals in Congress want to pass hate speech laws and hate crime laws. Fine, go for it, but Republicans and Conservatives must make sure, then, that Christians become as much of a protected class as Liberals want homosexuals to be.
It drove me crazy during Bush’s 8 years that he allowed the left and the media to demonize him and to paint a lie of who he was.
Honestly, there are still millions of Liberals and sadly Conservatives that swear that Bush lied about WMDs. That Liberal politicians never said that Iraq had WMDs. A quick search in youtube proves other wise very quickly and it shows that Democrats were running around long before Bush got into office and while he was in office claiming that Iraq had WMDs.
I am sick and tired of the wimpy Republicans/Conservatives that will not fight back. You can fight fire with fire and not loose your morals.
I am glad that finally someone said it out loud. Now the question is, are the pundits and politicians listening?
We have a whole College generation, the early and mid-20some who have been completly brainwashed by the leftist professors, by John Stewart, etc. What are we going to do to gain this generation back?
If you want to dig up dirt on Olbie, OK, but we should NOT have students imitating the leftist brown shirts who shout down speakers and destroy conservative newspapers. Opposition research is one thing, but you can’t go sabotaging free speech and then pretend to uphold the Constitution.
Bert and Ernie’s Parson makes the ludicrous claim that the young generation are incurably liberal. We’ll see how liberal they are when 90% of their paycheck is confiscated to pay off Obama’s 9 trillion dollar debt or when Manhattan gets nuked because the liberal sissies emasculated the CIA and the military. Liberals who get mugged by reality become hardcore conservatives.

Regarding book/chapter/verse–and really, there’s no need to shout–I will ignore the obvious appeal the the First Amendment and the core of Western values, and simply state this: Speech in a public forum is an exercise of freedom, and, unless said speech is a clear incitement to violence or will clearly create danger (yelling “Fire!” in a theater), preventing such speech through disruption (or worse) is immoral. This is axiomatic.
If, however, you believe that it is moral for leftists to shut down conservative speeches, you probably should take up that argument with Hawkins.

Would that philosophy also apply to using extreme measures against captured enemy combatants whom history shows would have no compunction about using them on us?
That turned out a bit convoluted. The terrorist is the guy coming after you with a sword and a gun. Asking him nicely to stop doesn’t really work.
271. Chuck Pelto: I missed your original appeal to book, chapter and verse. I responded subsequently. If you’re looking for an actual Biblical appeal, then of course there isn’t one. #20 DaveinPhoenix. I have no issue at all with tax cuts. But you can’t cut taxes without cutting spending at the same time. That was the mistake Reagan made. And so-called conservatives since have tried to convince the public that deficits don’t matter if they’re under a certain percentage of GNP. So much for small government, Grover Norquist style.
As for Congress setting budgets, exactly how many balanced budget proposals did Bush/Cheney send to Congress? I don’t recall any. And the budget with a monster deficit that we live under until June 30 is a Bush budget.

Don’t waste time with Chuck Pelten. Its worse than catching the eye of a homeless man: respond to one of his inanace comments, and he won’t shut up; he uses only off the wall comments and useless quotations. Then he adds on some incomprehensible military jargon and acronyms, evidently wanting us to believe he did something in the military besides bararcks patrol and shining his commander’s boots. I thought he had been banned from PJM for the longest time. Really, just ignore him.
I don’t think I have it in me to duplicate the thuggery of the left (although I’m more than willing to get in anyone’s face). My first protest ever was as a member of a tea party. I would like to see that movement expand its ranks and flourish into something truly formidable, something that by its sheer numbers alone simply can’t be ignored. Word is that despite Obama’s pretense not to know anything about the tax day protests, he was, in fact, royally pissed (he’s all about image after all and nation-wide protests against his policies are not good for that image). His snide dismissal of us “folks waving tea bags around” at his recent town hall meeting (he really should have let the teleprompter handle that one) was insulting enough, I think, to spur us all on to a great turn-out on Independence Day.
I like the advice to act locally. We should be involved at the city and county levels. We should get to where our state representatives and Congressman know us by name (mine do). If you live in a district where a Democrat serves by the grace of Republican/conservative/independent votes, get in his/her face and stay there.
In our travels around the Internet, we shouldn’t allow lies, exaggerations, misinformation and obfuscations to stand unchallenged. For the past six years, whenever I encountered in the media or on a blog one of the favored false Bush memes (like the plastic turkey or Saddam Hussein as an imminent threat), I would provide the necessary citations to show them false. Did it make any difference at all? I have no idea–probably not–but I did score the occasional in-print correction.
And, finally, we shouldn’t look to the establishment for guidance or leadership. I think the success of the tea party movement depends in part on not being associated with the Republican party or its organization (the state party leader who was in the crowd got roundly booed at the Sacramento protest). There are good people in the Republican caucus to be sure, but they’ll need to come to us as individuals, not as members of the Republican establishment. The RNC and state organizations need to understand that we demand new blood and the same old same old just won’t do anymore (anyone besides me who thinks this new “Resurgent Republic” with all the same old names and faces is dead group walking? I wish Bobby Jindal weren’t associated with it). Republicans need to convince us that they’ve rediscovered their principles. And, frankly, I don’t need to be sharing a tent with anyone who thought Porkulus was a good idea.

RE: Key ‘Indicators’
Let’s look at what is going on around US from a number of different perspectives. I’ll only use TWO here.
Case in Point #1:
A woman married to a christian minister murders him by shooting him in the back with a shotgun while he is sleeping.
The woman is ‘punished’ by spending several months in what amounts to a state-managed mental-health ‘spa’ and is then released.
Later, a man has a one(?)-night-stand with a post-operative transgender. When he discovers the true nature of his partner, he goes, for all intents and purposes, temporarily insane and murders his sexual partner.
This man gets life-in-prison, as I understand it, without parole.
Case in Point #2:
A christian minister in Kansas conducts a sidewalk prayer session on the outskirts of a public park where homosexuals are having a rally. The minister is arrested by law enforcement officials, taken to jail, charged and taken to court. It takes YEARS to sort it all out. But eventually, the city admits they fouled-up.
Former Congressman for Colorado Tancredo goes to a college campus to make a presentation of his views regarding illegal immigrants. Some local group stages a protest and is so disruptive as to break windows and require Tancredo to flee the area. How many were arrested for this?
As far as I can determine…..NONE.
Is anyone else seeing a pattern about ‘law enforcement’ here? Or is it just me?
Regards,
Chuck(le)
P.S. Maybe I spent too much time focusing on “Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield” (IPB) while going through the US Army Command and General Staff Course…….but I’ve learned to pick up on ‘indicators’ as to what’s going on around me……
268. CJ from Illinois:
“Try to have a civil conversation with a Liberal at any Liberal blog. They are not interested in a civil exchange of ideas. All they do is throw insult after insult. And if you pin them against a corner using their logic, oh boy. This happened to me at Politico.”
Politico a liberal website? Better go back and look around some more.
I think that Conservatives need more information on what the protest culture of the Left is all about. We always tend to think we are the staider more grounded in “history” group but if you look at protest signs and flyers today as opposed to 20 to 30 years ago, the themes are the same and even the type of fonts used are predictable. The Left is mostly angry inward looking whites who are hoping that a movement towards a European philosophy will put them on top again (as opposed to Capitalism that they see as wrongly raising the rest above them). It always means there is nothing particular “authentic” about black panthers, Jewish liberals etc. who gravitate towards these groups. A perfect example of this is how many of these Leftists long for a return to the sixties but gurus and listening to sitars is not part of the plan. India is on the rise economically and they feel threatened now.

[For additional information, please re-read this post.]
I agree completely and would go even further: key their cars, smash their windows, deface their signs, etc. This is not sarcasm from a troll.
Everything the Left has won has been through violence and intimidation. Force works and it’s time we tried it as well.
P.S. When and where and for what charges were YOU ever ‘arrested’?
275. Chuck Pelto: “Chris L can’t defend their args here.” I actually did respond to your request, twice. I gave you my argument on the immorality of this behavior. I didn’t make a claim that it was illegal–I’m actually not sure, though I suspect that those who behave this way are at least making some kind of a citable public nuisance of themselves.
You may believe that my argument on the immorality of disruption of speech is not persuasive, but it’s incorrect to imply that I haven’t made one.
The crux of the matter is, you correctly point out cases in which people behave in this manner, but you don’t identify their behavior as wrong, but instead suggest that everybody act that way. Yet if you believe that the behavior is right, then you have no cause to be upset with leftists who commit it. The only way I can see to get you out of that conundrum is if you believe it’s wrong when other people do it, but right when you do it–or more confusingly, but this seems to underlie a lot of these arguments, you believe that it’s right when you do it /because/ it’s wrong when they do it.
Perhaps it would help if you could make a positive statement regarding your beliefs on the morality of disrupting speech.
280. White Helmet: I will definitely take that advice under consideration.

RE: Acting ‘Locally’
Interesting that you should mention that.
Last ‘Tax Day’, 15 April 2009, I participated in the local TEA Party event.
During the course of the speeches being made on the county courthouse steps, someone showed up carrying a sign about “Racism” and paraded through the assembled participants shouting words to the effect that they were all ‘racists’.
We were ‘prepared’ for this possibility and executed a ‘counter-plan’. People who recognized the ‘Hey RUBE!’ call, gathered around this interloper and began shouting back at them, “No More Taxes!”. And everywhere this person went, they followed him and shouted, “No More Taxes!”.
Eventually, the interloper decided to walk to the periphery of the TEA Partyers and shout and wave his sign projecting his ‘racism’ from the side-lines. I suspect that the arrival of two of the local police helped him in identifying where the border was between HIS freedom of expression and the rest of the 500+ TEA Partyers.
What’s my point?
You HAVE to ‘act locally’. Especially when the opposition is acting locally.

Chuck(le)

292. AThinkingPerson: I may be coming around to White Helmet’s point of view on this, but I’m not out to get anybody.
I think we can all tell how enraged the Left gets when we do find our collective spine and start speaking up. “Racist” is such an easy term to throw out in the hopes of shutting us up but they’ve used that word so much they’ve actually diminished it’s sting. I am actually enjoying reading the Liberal posters here tonight. It affirms several things for me: 1)They are against any freedom of speech or sharing of ideas and 2) they are getting more and more riled up the more and more we talk about actually putting our words into action. Very, very telling. We should all take note. It’s going to be a bumpy ride (as witnessed by Chuck’s Tea Party story and others), but what good is a victory without a well-fought battle?
As I’ve stated before, I’m in.
Fight?
When fighting the institutionalized beast that is the liberal/leftist “culture” our naturally decentralized individual approach will win. Independence runs like blood through our very veins.
Nearly a million individual producers turned up at Tea Parties across the nation. We “teabaggers” didn’t need some A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.E.D commie protest.org central committee to do it for us with doled out pre-printed dialectic outrage. We made our own placards which reflected our own individual concerns. That is Grassroots, not some teabagged gaggle of nonworking paper mache puppet heads. That is why the statists are crapping themselves, and that is why their usefullofcrap idiot troll army of Obamabots is doing their rank best to disrupt the independent culture we have been forced to build for ourselves.
Without even realizing it we have been divesting ourselves of their construct and they cannot stand for it. They can only stand against it. We simply need to amplify what we are already doing and lose our fear of their hatred. They have already pretty much demonstrated that they hate us, and everything we stand for, as much as they can short of frogmarching us off to re-edumacation camps. So go ahead fellow Americans. Eliminate the statists from your lives.
As an individual, don’t buy from those who would sell out our heritage to maintain a market share. Big corporations love competition stifling regulation. As a business owner, don’t hire the people who are most likely to sue you out of your hard earned livelihood. As an American individual, don’t vote for the socioeconomic worms in either party who would make a career of restricting your liberties from within the various capitals of our nation. Make them limit their terms, or send them packing. Turn off your propaganda boxes, shred your useless subscriptions, and find or create alternatives that respect your moral intelligence instead of insulting it. BitTorrent them to death if need be.
Got moonbat friends who just won’t shut the f up with their received wizzDem regardless of your attempts to debate them in civil discourse? Chuck ‘em. Build and maintain your community of like-minded citizens. Don’t force your children to have to disregard reality to succeed. Starve the institutions that would dumb down our children in the name of their utopian ant farm.
Hear some random moonbat spout off kos/politrickster/congresscritter talking points in public? Slam them mercilessly and calmly. The’ll not know what hit them. Help them blow their own gaskets. Hell, buy them another drink and let them go to it. Tell ‘em you love Reagan…
Have a business that’s suffering due to socialistic looters who fancy themselves as progressive Robin Hoods? Take a little walk in your parking lot and take note of which cars are sporting looter-centric bumper stickers (They’re the ones who have been stealing supplies). They themselves have done you the service of identifying who needs to be among the first round of layoffs.
We don’t need a conservative Acorn or Moveondotdumbhippy We don’t require an earthly messiah to lend us someone else’s esteem or teleprompted moral center. Such dependence is anathema to Americans.
We have literally been supporting the looter class with our blood, sweat, tears, and taxes and they haven’t the slightest friggin’ clue that we do indeed surround them. We have earned and allowed them the luxury of making a living at whatever stupid crap they’ve invented to substitute for God and productive work. It’s time they feel the consequences of their spoiled bratiness. We are the taxpayers. We are the evil “rich people” the Democrats despise, and we will take back the country when we stop allowing them to dismantle the legacy left to us by our Founding Fathers who wrested our Liberty from the clutches of yet another distant tyrant who knew better than we.
Besides, we aren’t the ones who live in fear of the Second Amendment.

The Dali Lama does not represent conservatism, nor is conservatism about pacifism.
And to your question my answer is yes, the Dali lama should start shooting back at the Chinese. It makes my angry to see these people willingly kneel to be shot or quietly shooting my brother.
You admire that? It makes me sick. I always say, if I go down violently I’m taking as many of them with me as I can and I will not die on my knees and whoever performs violence on me or my loved ones will know exactly how I feel.
298. AThinkingPerson: “They (liberals) are against any freedom of speech or sharing of ideas.” I’m not a liberal so I’ll optimistically assume that you’re not counting me in this number. That said, while there have been some insanely stupid posts on this thread, I don’t recall having seen one from a liberal perspective that calls for the suppression of speech, or stands against the sharing of ideas (the few truly trollish liberal posts I read were not nearly coherent enough to make such a case).
On the other hand, my argument with Chuck P. has focused on the morality of disrupting speech that you disagree with, I hold that it is not permissible, and Chuck (along with Hawkins, apparently) holds that it is. I’m still looking for a coherent argument that it is in fact right to do so.

I don’t mean to interrupt all the brio and drinks at the bar as Pelto and others advance the nutty suggestion that shouting down opposing speakers is the way to make yourself heard.
But sensible and thoughtful discussion becomes impossible when Mr. Pelto hijacks the thread with personal attacks, innuendo and the like. he does this a lot. He acknowledges that he’s been banned from some sites.
Last time I exchanged comments with Pelto, PJM deleted several of his comments because they took a fairly bizzare and suggestive slant that was completely off-topic and only meant to degrade and insult (and while they raise questions about pelto, that’s another matter).
His approach is not the way to discuss anything. It certainly will not induce people on the edge to vote for sensible candidates. His ridicule, dismissive nastiness and his insistence on injecting his religious views in to most discussions is a lot that is wrong with the republican party. He sends people with oppsoing views away not thoughful, but bitterly convinced that he is representative of the nuts they’ve heard about. A lot of good that does anyone.
These are serious times and these are serious issues: to allow someone like this to divert sensible discussion into name calling and abuse is not only wrong it is guaranteed to be counterproductive.
sheesh, When you’re bemoaning the vile fascist tactics employed against Cheney critics, shed a tear for the large number of Clinton critics who were audited by the IRS,etc. I can’t wait to see what befalls those who dare to criticize the Anointed One. Stoning will be too good for them.
StevieB.Goode, Your strawman did not refute my claim of the left gutting the military. I’m talking about the Administration proposing to cut funding for missile defense even as the EMP threat from North Korea and Iran increases and like initiatives.
302. Chuck Pelto: But Chuck, I did answer your question. Twice. But you’ve answered none of mine.
I engage in these kinds of conversations for two reasons. First, to test my own beliefs and opinions by trying to convince others of my point of view. Second, to modify those beliefs and opinions when presented with compelling evidence and/or reasoned arguments.
I’ve been unflaggingly civil and respectful and have tried to engage you in a reasonable discussion about your beliefs, as I find them (to the extent that they’ve been stated here) contradictory and disagreeable. However, I think we can both agree that neither of us is making any headway, and I think it’s time to put an end to it.
Best of luck to you.
Re: Sheesh (#247) Just who are you, Miss Voice of a Generation? And what made you think I said torture was a good idea? The waterboarding, the caterpillars – not torture. Even Ms. Pelosi thinks so.
Re: #303 SeanLA – “united front of socialistic pacifism”? WTF? Just because I think the Dalai Lama is noble for following his beliefs, doesn’t mean I would act as he does. Me? I’d kill as many of the motherfu¢k@r$ as I could! But that’s just me.
My point, which you idiots missed, is that if we are not fighting for our beliefs, what are we fighting for? If you win by compromising yourself and those beliefs in the process – you lose! Of course we matter as individuals. But we are our beliefs, our honor, our integrity. If we don’t have those, what’s the point?
Acting like hypocritical, low life, dirty dealing dogs, like those on the left, is not the way to go. What we’re fighting for is important. But how we fight is also important.
And that doesn’t mean stand up and get shot like some other idiot said. And it doesn’t mean that even though killing is wrong I wouldn’t drop somebody without a moment’s hesitation if they tried to hurt my family.
Also, there are causes which are greater than ourselves, which existed long before us, and hopefully will be around long after we’re gone. I’m not just fighting for myself, I’m fighting for my family, and yes, even for the idiots on the left. This is what I meant when I said we don’t matter as individuals. Difference between macro and micro. Gotta stay with me on these things.
Geez! People are so myopic. Take a deep breath. Let out. Now engage the brain.
Yes! It’s about time we realize the Democrats are pit bull “junk yard dogs” going against Republican golden retrievers. Rise up. Google where MSM big wigs live, harass their ass and make it miserable.
306. White Helmet,
I’m not sure how long you’ve been posting or lurking here but I’ve been personally attacked numerous times here on PJM by lefties and I’ve grown a pretty thick skin and [much to their chagrin] I have a sense of humor about it.
Chuck P. and I butted heads at first when I began regularily posting here and I still feel bad about being a bit of an @sshat to him but that’s all water under the bridge. I’ve slung insults at both Liberals AND Conservatives.
The thing you have to remember is that we are all human in the end and we can lash out and make mistakes from time to time. Chuck P. is not the bad guy. I’m a notorious smart@ss myself so once I got to know Chuck I actually grew to really appreciate him.
There are people who come here specifically and ONLY to ‘stir the pot’ and cause trouble and rile people up. I shan’t name names but they frequent PJM soley for that purpose.
If you want Chuck or Bilgeman or Athinkingperson et al banned…you might as well ask for me to get banned too because I can be a real PITA.
Now…put on your thinking cap and try to see how you might be able to get along with folks here rather than being targeted. I’m more than willing to give you a chance! I’m not THAT hard-headed…even though my hubby would argue otherwise but that’s another kettle of fish.
Puts sign back on: “Will yodel for dinner”
I took your suggestion to heart and researched the following this afternoon. The links are missing in this comment post, but you can find them easily by googling them.
“Who is Colonel Steven M. Kleinman?”
Regarding the ABC news article written by Matthew Cole “Psychologists Told CIA Waterboarding Was Safe”, After a cursory internet search, I’d like to share with you what I found on USAF Colonel Steve Kleinman, the main intervewee in the ABC story.
Kleinman’s position in the ABC News article was that the two psychologists were not qualified to be involved in this type of intelligence gathering because their expertise in waterboarding was in the S.E.R.E. program which instructs U.S. soldiers on how to resist coercion and torture in the event they were captured by an enemy. So, because the two psychologists were role-playing an enemy that may not adhere to the Geneva Convention code, Kleinman asserts in the ABC article that the for these two men “that was their first step into the world of intelligence”.
I found an article Kleinman wrote in 2006, published after this waterboarding incident in question, in which he makes this same argument beginning on page 95 of the following link: http://www.fas.org/irp/dni/educing.pdf
“Educing Information: Interrogation: Science and Art”. Intelligence Science Board. Washington, DC: National Defense Intelligence College Press, 2006. 339 pages
Now, I am, by no means, a scholar, but I believe that Kleinman is making the same argument in his 2006 article as he is in the ABC interview, that being a SERE interrogator does not qualify someone to interrogate enemies of the U.S.
However, he also admits that it’s pretty much the only game in town because the US Intelligence community has never really come up with any curriculum for teaching enemy interrogation except for “reverse engineering” the intelligence methods of other nations based on the KUBARK coercive methods manual developed by the CIA in the 1960′s era of the Cold War. In other words, the U.S. doesn’t torture, so there was never a need to teach our interrogators how to torture, so the next best thing to use in that instance are the SERE methods.
Please keep in mind that Kleinman published this article in 2006 AFTER the Al Queda terrorist (of the ABC news article) were waterboarded.
Kleinman’s article in “Educing Information…” arguing that a S.E.R.E interogator is not qualified to conduct interrogations on terrorists was sponsored by:
“…Intelligence Science Board, which was chartered in 2002 to advise senior intelligence officials on scientific and technical issues of importance to the Intelligence Community. Robert A. Fein, a member of the Science Board, chaired the effort by what appears to have been a truly high-powered team. Eleven individuals with security and counterintelligence experience served on his “experts committee,” drawn chiefly from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and military intelligence units. The project also enlisted an outside advisory group, made up of three Harvard University professors (including the distinguished historian and intelligence scholar Ernest May), two college presidents, a scientist with the Nuclear Threat Initiative, and a Goldman Sachs vice president.” (emphasis added)
Source for above quote: Studies in Intelligence Vol. 51, No. 4 (Extracts-December 2007) “Intelligence in Recent Public Literature” (“Educing Information: Interrogation: Science and Art” Reviewed by Loch K. Johnson.
So, let’s take a look at who Colonel Steven A. Kleinman has associated himself in this research project:
1. Robert A. Fein – Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology and Public Practice from Harvard University in 1974. Author of work published by the National Institute of Justice in 1995 and 1998 (under the Clinton Administration). I found an online article at CapeCodToday.com by Jeff Blanchard who theorizes Mr. Fein may have something to do with the 1988 New Bedford, MA serial murders in order to take Mike Dukakis out of contention for the Presidency. Not sure about all that but the article gives an indepth bio on Mr. Fein.
2. Ernest May – According to his profile on the Harvard Kennedy Law School website, he is a member of the board of directors for the “Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs”. This is an organization that was recently funded with a $750,000 grant for launching a major initiative to help design international climate agreements. To give you an idea of whom else is associated with the Belfer Center we need look no further than President Obama’s Science Advisor, John P. Holdren, who was the director of the Science, Technology, and Public Policy program for the Belfer Center, and Dr. Ashton B. Carter, former Asst. Secretary of Defense for Int’l Security Policy from 1993-1996 during the Clinton Administration. Clearly, Earnest May, based on his associations, is a hard-core Statist.
3. Nuclear Threat Initiative – Founded by Ted Turner and Sam Nunn (Democratic Senator from Georgia from 1972-1997). Also, Warren Buffet is named as an advisor to the Board of Directors of NTI. Need I say more?
4. Goldman Sachs – Need I say more here, either?
“Who is this Colonel Kleinman?” Well, I would say that if it looks like a Statist, walks like a Statist, and smells like a Statist… it’s probably a Statist. This guy is bought and paid for by the Left in 2006 when he wrote this article AFTER the waterboarding had occurred.
I hope you find this information useful.
Reminds me of a radio talk show host here in Memphis a few months ago comparing David Duke (who wanted to hold a conference here) to the Nation of Islam — a perfectly appropriate comparison in my opinion.
He said that the race-hustling poverty pimp mayor of Memphis (an expression he didn’t use, but is, likewise, perfectly appropriate) would have defended the NOI, so that conservatives should be defending David Duke.
I am glad, however, that conservatives do not defend such people or behave in the manner you have described leftists behaving. It shows that we are better than they are. At the College Republican National Convention a few years ago, one of the speakers said what an asset we were to the national party, whil the College Dems were really a liability, because their behavior tended to embarrass the Democratic Party. Do you think such tactics win moderates and independents over to our side?
A better approach would be to work harder to tie the Democrats in government to their activist counterparts. This would be an excellent way for us to build our voter coalition without having to compromise our values.

There’s not a man or a woman here who would run into a burning building to save a baby, who would jump into water to save a drowning person and not a soul here who dares Confront Authority ith other than empty rhetoric. The people here are demonstrably the reason why we’ve lost this Nation. And I’ll bet many here have served in the military and have gone into armed conflict against ‘others’ but wouldn’t dare raise a hand against a real and serious threat from enemies-domestic. They’re chickens …..
Again I slap you in the face …. thank God our Forefathers weren’t gelded, smooth and useless. They ACTED.

I have for years said that we are fighting political insurgents. The Leftist are like political suicide bombers. Individuals have no compunction over going out and blowing themselves up politically to help achieve the overarching goals of the party apparatus. They know that the party as a whole will resurrect them in some other capacity as long as they a good and faithful soldier. The explosion is only a minor inconvenience for a time as they are soon quietly brought back into the party folds to again help push the agenda.
We must stop treating this war, and yes it IS war, as an exercise in manners, rules, and the high road. This is not some Debate Club session where we all shake hands afterward and go about our way. To borrow from Patton, we must grab them by the nose and kick them in the ass. It is time to use the same techniques and tactics against them. Unfortunately there will be casualties along the way as I am sure Joe the Plumber can attest to. The Leftists NEVER give up without a fight.
WE MUST FIGHT FOR LIBERTY AND THE LIBERTY OF THE COMING GENERATIONS. WE MUST FIGHT FOR FREEDOM AND OPPORTUNITY. WE MUST FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE OF THE REPUBLIC.

A product of some sorry public school, smoking gawd only knows what. Bleah.
IMHO the best way to win back our country from the Liberals is EDUCATION! Where did the liberals start? The classroom. That’s where we should start too. Why are conservatives throwing money at liberal colleges? There are plenty of conservative colleges and they have the best education, may cost more but you get what you pay for and if there is enough applications I’m sure there will be enough people willing to give scholarships.
We also need to become our own form of “community organzers”. Go to the people that the liberals make into victims and teach them the cando American spirit.
No one lies or exaggerates like a liberal leftist.
Children are taught at home, and in school, that republicans are mean and evil, and by the time you are an adult you have been completely brainwashed. It usually takes something that moves you, and changes your opinion. My awakening was how Clarence Thomas was treated in his confirmation hearing. That is when I realized that the Democrats were the mean-spirited and classless party. I can still remember Mrs. Alito crying from the acid-tongue statements made by Teddy Kennedy at her husbands confirmation. There is no way republican senators could display such bad behavior, and get away with it routinely like Democrats.
I disagree about stop whining regarding the media. They need to be exposed every possibe way on a daily routine. Conservatives outnumber liberals considerably in this country, but are consistently unrepresented in televised debates. “The View” which I would never watch, but am aware of, has 4 liberals and one conservative that discuss daily topics with a mostly liberal audience. I heard that ABC’s ‘Nightline’ had 8 liberals and 2 conservatives on a panel to discuss the most recent press conference. Several of the liberals on the panel were hard-left such as Bill Maher, whereas the conservatives were George Will and Newt Gingrich. This is standard for the MSM, and the way it has been for several decades. We need to become vocal when we are treated unfairly by the MSM.
The media as a whole needs to get the message that “were mad as hell, and were not going to take it anymore”.
David said:
“we should NOT have students imitating the leftist brown shirts who shout down speakers and destroy conservative newspapers. Opposition research is one thing, but you can’t go sabotaging free speech and then pretend to uphold the Constitution.”
well said, we must shine the light on each and every instance where the hypocrite leftist show their true colors.
The leftist have used emotional rhetoric to convince the uninformed masses to cast their vote for their agenda.
Remember the election day exit interviews of Teleprompter Jesus supporters?
I did not see a single one who could put forward a single coherent reason as to why they voted the way they did. It was just the cool thing at the time.
But the root of the problem was the right gave conservatives No one to vote for.
That’s the rights fault. They failed because they are too entrenched with the old guard.
Conservatism is not dead, it is just not represented in the current GOP. Like all politicians they are too caught up in preserving their own turf when they need to be promoting real conservative values that everyday conservatives believe in and WILL support.
The current democrat machine is nothing but a propaganda spewing lying pack of socialist wannabe’s.
Their rapid rise to power here will be short lived. The truth and a little time will expose them for the scum they are.
We don’t even have to stoop as low as the despicable liberals. We just need to get active and make our message heard. We need to stop the apathy. The conservative message is one that many identify with, the public just needs to hear it. Conservatives, get off your duff, start blogging, join local, national, and internet based groups. Don’t be afraid to voice your opinions. DO NOT BELIEVE THE BIASED “NEWS” MEDIA. Get to the next tea party. We sent a strong message to Benedict Arlen. He realized he will not be supported by the Republicans in 2010. He had to switch for political survival. Will the lackys elect him? Most likely not. He will be finished. This serves him right. This is good for our party. It should wake up the other RINO’s to shape up or get out. Don’t be complacent! Get loud, stand strong. Protest and invite friends to do the same, voice your opinions, and refuse to be strong armed into being “politically correct”. Speak your mind and be strong. We are Americans. We still have that right, if we don’t let the liberals take it away.
Some tips that may work with the MSM in the context of interviews and events:
If you give an interview to the MSM for God’s sake have your own camera recording everything. Video is so cheap there is no excuse for not doing this. Record the interview and put it out on the web raw. The rawer the better, if only the take away the mystery and authority of the interviewer. Katie Couric is a pretty face whose authority derives from the magic of the camera, producers, editors and artificial lighting. Raw video reveals the artifice and denies the magic. They’ve got more to lose here than you do.
News talent doesn’t work alone and that is another exploitable weakness. When the news crew arrives get a camera on them immediately, before they have even setup. Don’t just focus on the talent, record the soundman, the camera man, the makeup crew. If they shoot an outrageous video, a la Susan Roesgans Tea Party coverage, immediately confront the support crew. Ask them if their talent has a history of biased reporting. “Does she personally hate Republican’s? Is she good to work with? How is she with kids?” If they refuse to answer, if they stonewall, highlight how they have assisted in hounding individuals for personal information that normally wouldn’t be anyone’s damn business and by what right do they have to refuse when the camera is on them and how hypocritical is that? If one of news crew gets physical, all the better. Record it and put it on the web. You might even ignore the talent, go after the support crew, push hard, get in their face, and then record the talent acting like a prima donna when he/she complains about where the camera focus is. On scene news crews record in a bubble possible because of the considerate politeness of others. If you think you can do it without looking like a jerk or psycho POP it. Challenge their biases with your microphone and your camera, while they record, and then put the results on the web. Done right it’ll be dramatic as hell.
The old saying is never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel. Well today ink is a free whirlwind to the one that sows it with something watchable.
298 and 299 have penned comments which make the most sense to me. I am not the least bit interested in using the Left’s tactics. As a refugee from the Left (many years ago, in ’87), I left the Marxist camp because I detested everything about them once I ran the table on the corpus of Marxist thinking and exhausted its ideas against its critiques. In fact, I rarely went to protests and rallies, finding the denizens of those gatherings at times a bit less cerebral about the ideas they embraced than I would have preferred.
We just need to be more bold about inserting our reasoned facts into the public forum. Above all else, let us boycott the mainstream media and the magazines that advance the cause of the cultural Marxists, regardless of the disguise they are wrapped in.
-Another lefty tactic which gets pretty obvious after a while is the, “I once was a Conservative but you Repubs turned me off” or the, “I’m on the fence politically but after reading you wing-nuts I’m definitely not voting Republican” etc. yadda yadda games. The usual lefties playing the tiresome ploys via the anonymity of the internet. Alinsky would be so proud [or maybe embarrassed by how st00pidly obvious his playbook is].
Then there are the trolls [YES, they are TROLLS] who constantly rename themselves and reincarnate into the same old/same old verbiage. Talk about Acorn nuts gone wild.

I’m quite late to this post…but just in case anyone is still reading:
Right now everyone flips left. Mark McKinnon (sp?) was a Dem, switched to R for Bush, then opted out for McCain because of Obama. There are many examples. We need to trust people who are trustworthy.
There are many people on the Left in various positions who can leak and embarrass. Few on the right.
Bush declined to defend himself, big mistake given that the future of the country was at stake.
The majority of people who vote Dem are bought. Sure there’s 20% committed Libs, but they’ve bought the rest. This is tough, because the R’s can never outbid the Dems.
Reagan attacked the media with good results. Sounds like a plan to me. Everyone needs to know the Journo List and exactly how far left these guys really are. It is not your fathers Democratic Party.
The frame must be tyranny…socialism doesn’t cut it….but look at the Political Class Index of Rasmussen…Few people trust the government. Big Business, Big Labor, Big Government are natural allies, the R’s must stand for Democratic Capitalism, not crony capitalism or crony statism.
312. The Man: “There’s not a man or a woman here who would run into a burning building to save a baby, who would jump into water to save a drowning person and not a soul here who dares Confront Authority ith other than empty rhetoric. ”
Utterly empty rhetoric, indeed. You paint black with a broad brush, knowing and seeing nothing of the subjects you intend to portray.
313. steveg: You’re completely correct about the prevailing anti-Republican indoctrination. I’m a lowercase-I independent but find myself having to correct the appallingly one-sided, negative impressions of all things Republican they learn at church, from the media and in the community. Where I differ is in the belief that Republican politicians, as a whole, behave much better than Democrats. I’d like to feed them to each other, because I’m sick of them all.
326. Chuck Pelto: I responded in 273 and 277. As I said in the latter, if you’re actually looking for Biblical quotations, I’ll give none, because I don’t subscribe to Biblical law–for example, I enjoy shellfish without guild and believe that it is never permissible to sell my daughter (or anybody else) into slavery.
How do you handle trolls who don’t contribute to a friendly exchange of ideas?
What Trolls?
Gah! I *knew* it! The mods are playin’ with me. You stinkers. Ha! I’d probably do that too if I was bored and having to moderate this board on a Friday night no less.
Chuck P., scroll up a bit to see my comment that went through about you.
I also forgot to mention you never once personally attacked me even when I was being a poo-poo head to you [311.].
Here’s my take on the whole “should we lower ourselves” argument:
Some days I get really furious and I take the gloves off…other days I’m just wishing people would open their eyes a little and not be so blind to what is happening to our country and I feel deeply disturbed by the way some Lefties ‘think’. Has our country become so bitterly divided? How saddening.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
If my Liberal neighbors were starving or homeless, I’d take them in and feed them. I don’t hate Democrats…I hate their mindless mindset! How hard is that to comprehend? Huh?
You mean I can get paid for this? Do tell.

“I agree completely and would go even further: key their cars, smash their windows, deface their signs, etc. This is not sarcasm from a troll. Everything the Left has won has been through violence and intimidation. Force works and it’s time we tried it as well.”
3 questions:
1. You weren’t alive in 1968 were you?
2. What violence and intimidation was involved in the last two elections? Because if I’m not mistaken, those are examples of things the Left has won.
3. Will you promise to continue ratcheting up your rage and frustration and threats That would be a big help to us. Thanks.
Liberals will destroy themselves. That kind of evil always does. Also, many who call themselves liberal are just paid protesters/bloggers. George Soros and ACORN are a scourge to our society and yet no one is calling them out. Same thing with the MSM…someone is paying big for all this “passion.” Ha! Cut off the money and watch them abandon ship like the rats that they are. The grassroots people with the tea parties are not being paid and in fact are digging into their pockets to fund their own protests. That’s the kind of passion you can’t buy. What all liberals need is a good exorcism.
#214 Samizdat…..Regarding boycotting certain left-wing business….Anyone that has their insurance with Progressive Ins. Co. would be wise to cancel. The founder and owner is as radical left is George Soros.
Look, what you all need is organization.
You need the power of numbers to have an impact.
And you are all (figuratively) sitting on the best tool of all time to accomplish that- the internet.
Imagine, as an example, a few million conservatives called upon to e-mail the sponsors of MSNBC that they will no longer buy the sponsors’ products as long as Olberman is on that network.
Another example?
Imagine a few million conservatives funding whomever is Harry Reid’s opponent.
The problem and solution is in the very thing that the left does best at present- organization.
There has got to be some charismatic and bright leader out there who can harness the power of the internet masses.
Maybe it’s the gentleman who wrote this article.
Maybe it’s one of you.
I don’t know.
But until that happens, we will all be just peeing in the wind, watching the country turned into something that most Americans of even a few decades ago, let alone the founding fathers, would recognize.
Oops, that would be ‘not recognize’ up there .
Hawkins, you pantywaist sore loser: Stop your Republican whining.
I have often heard from conservatives that Hillary Clinton murdered Vince Foster. I have heard that Barack Obama lied about his religion and he is a secret muslim and takes secret orders from Osama Bin Laden. I have heard from conservatives that Obama is planning to take all of the republican’s weapons in order to install a dictatorship for life. I have heard that Obama is a secret member of the black panthers, and dedicated to eliminating any whites who oppose him. I have heard that George Soros controls all liberals and in return he gives them money.
so, does this means you should adopt the same tactics, that you should joint secret military societies dedicated to overthrowing the united states and murder those who stand in your way, and form alliances with billionaires and obey them in return for funding a violent overthrow of the socialist obama regime?
You see the problem with adopting the enemy’s tactics is that because he is the enemy, it is easy to believe the worst. Did Hillary Clinton really murder Vince foster, and now owes her appoint to secretary of state to that murder? If you believe that, it gives you license to murder the enemy because that’s why they do. But what if it’s not true.
Don’t try to match what your imagination tells you the enemy is. Keep your own morals intact and do what is right. Because it is always human nature to think the worst of your enemy, and by adopting what you think are their tactics, you will only become depraved.
It’s like when you watch a basketball game, your team never commits a foul, but the other guy always seems to get a break from the ref. Then when your guy elbows the other opponent in a face, he gets ejected! So unfair. That’s just how our brains work, we always think that the opponent is getting away with murder, and we are sinless.
Few things make me roll my eyes as much as when Republicans/Conservatives act and talk as though they have been the good guys all along, but now it’s time for no more Mr. Nice guy and that it’s time to “play as dirty as the left”. What bizarre nonsense — Republicans and the right wing have been the heavy handy dirty tricksters for so long now that you guys probably don’t even recognize the difference between getting your candy from a store or taking it from a baby. Sure you can point out shenanigans by the Democrats, but their crimes amount to stealing gum from a convenience store compared to Republicans emptying out a warehouse. Take the 2004 election and the over the top smears — and that’s what they were — against Kerry and his service record. What friggin, malicious nonsense, from the “Christmas in Cambodia” (US Special Forces were covertly doing their thing in Cambodia in sizable numbers in 1968, and Nixon was the President-elect at the time) to loathsome Michelle Malkin “raising the question” about whether Kerry’s wounds were “self-inflicted”. There was zero, nada evidence for this being even a possibility, but that didn’t stop Malkin from pretending that it was a legitimate question.
Of course this was all done because Bush’s service record was just about him using his big shot daddy’s connections to get into the Air National Guard to avoid Vietnam service, and then disappearing for most of his last couple of service but still somehow magically getting an honorable discharge.
And let’s not forget the truckload of braindead accusations again Joe Wilson (who stood up to Hussein during the first Gulf War) and his wife Valerie Plame, who was indeed a covert agent working on, ironically enough, Iran’s nuclear activities despite what all the no-nothing numbnuts have been and even to this day are claiming otherwise. (You guys have no idea how p.o.’d and upset the CIA was about all this, especially since they couldn’t really publicly come to her defense for somewhat obvious reasons.)
Yeah, be the bad guys — nobody will be able to tell the difference.
The right can never win this battle, because :
1) Conservatives have jobs, families, and friends. Leftists do not have any of these things, and can thus devote 100% of their time to leftism.
2) Conservatives have a decorum that they cannot really abandon. Look how polite Miss CA was in contrast to Perez Hilton. Although her response of ‘I feel sorry for him’ was PERFECT. That is exactly what gets under their skin.
Bad idea. I suspect more Conservatives are formed on college campuses by leftists acting like animals than from any other cause.
Look what it did for the Minutemen: they were a fringe group until college leftists started getting physical with them.
I’m no fan of the Minutemen, they’re just the most prominent example of how right-leaning causes are aided by the violent authoritarian tendencies of the left.
Great ideas. It would be nice if a few of the left-wing campus ayatollahs *occasionally* had something unfortunate happen to their cars or their dorm rooms, just as these things happen to conservative students.
Should we be above these things? Yes. Can we afford to be above them? No. The result is we end up being played as patsies, abused, and the boldness of the enemy is seen by the unaligned as more attractive and a safer position than our weakness.
I hate to write or even think in these terms, but the same principle could improve race relations in the US. A white man who visited a black neighborhood to violently prey on the residents would probably not make it out alive. It doesn’t work the other way around- a black predator who preys on whites will be greeted with fear and need fear nothing himself until both when and if the police show up. I would not want lynch mobs and Klansmen to ever again be features of American life, but if middle-class whites acquired a reputation for being willing to dispense a little street justice occasionally we would surely experience less victimization.

Pablo, you are a schitzo or a troll. I’ll bet on the latter.
“319. Ms. Attitude:
IMHO the best way to win back our country from the Liberals is EDUCATION! Where did the liberals start? The classroom. That’s where we should start too. Why are conservatives throwing money at liberal colleges?”
Somebody finally said it! It’s time to found more conservative colleges, to counteract the effect of those so-called “Liberal Arts colleges.”
But for K-12, I have a much better idea. Infiltrate, infiltrate, infiltrate!
Much as I viscerally agree with John Hawkins, I’m afraid it would be counterproductive. The reality is that I choose NOT to associate with groups that act like that. I remember Bob Livingston admitting his adultery during the Clinton impeachment hearing and promptly resigning. One of the main things I truly despise about the left is their propensity for hugging their criminals even closer when they are challenged as such. We cannot do that and still retain our souls.
If it comes to the point where we have to fight violence with violence, that will be a different matter. I’m not at all certain such a point is very far away, either. There is a reason that the most vibrant part of the economy is the guns-and-ammo manufacturing sector, and it doesn’t take much thinking to comprehend that reason.
The biggest question I have is this: what is going to provide America’s “Calvo Sotelo moment?”
Just a comment on the “Lowering to the level” point being discussed. The only valid reason to this is to actually encourage civil discussion. When a bully abuses someone, the bully only stops when the price of the abuse becomes to high to continue. At that point, either the abuse stops or more civil behavior begins.
I apologize for stating the obvious, but this is the core of most counter insurgent ops. Make the opposition pay too high a price for the tactics they use, and the tactics stop.
The constant insults, denigration and abuse can be stopped. However, be prepared to say “Enough” when the time comes. Further abuse is counter productive and only stiffens the resolve of the opposition. This is the vast error being made by the Democrats that haunt these boards right now.
Only a personal thought.
Thanks
AMEN! BEST IDEA OF THE YEAR!!
I too am sick of trying to explain rationally while my neanderthal coworkers snicker about tea-bagging and Palin.
Quote: #57 Teleprompter Jesus:
“Heh. Bring it on, weenies. We’ve been at this longer than you’ve been alive. Ever wondered how we managed to turn Joe McCarthy into the devil incarnate? We invented dirt. I laugh on your bluster.” (End Quote)
It’s Ok Teleprompter Jesus, the last and best joke’s going to be on the hypocrite America-hating, self loathing, dorky, spineless woosy liberals, for you best remember one thing…….
Us conservatives have lots of guns, many of us have been in the service, and we know exactly how to use them.
Bring it on! You will NOT destroy this country without a fight!
I think it’s a great idea.
One problem. The media does not hold the left accountable when they use these tactics. They will come down on conservatives like a ton of bricks for doing the exact same thing, they will pretend Republicans are the only ones to ever use such tactics, etc…
In order to pre-emt such coverage, conservatives should NAME every tactic they use after the most famous instance of the left’s usage of the same tactic.
For example: when conservatives go after a female Democrat, they can say they are “Sullivan-ing” her.
Shouting down liberal speakers on campus could be referred to as “Code-Pinking” them…etc
Always naming the liberal person or group that did it before.
I agree. I’m sick of conservatives saying “Oh we don’t protest because we actually have real jobs to go to and families to take care of. We don’t have time to stand around and act like eating meat is a crime against humanity. Protests are for brainwashed leftists.” Uh trust me, protests definitely work. You get your point out there and put new thoughts in peoples heads. We also need to get a lot more active in the entertainment industry, the media and academia. I’ve had a couple professors who I know were conservatives but they didn’t try to openly indoctrinate us like our liberal professors do. Screw that. Go for it. Start openly mocking ridiculous liberal arguments and start expressing your conservative points of view. Get up on stage when a far leftist starts advocating their insane BS and hold up your signs until security drags you away. And don’t be shy about your values if you’re in the entertainment business. Make movies with a conservative viewpoint. Make music that expresses conservative ideals. Mock communist and socialist figures. Ridicule leftists who apologize for terrorists and who accuse our own government of being behind the attacks. Protray them as the bad guys and idiots with your lyrics and screenplays. If you’re on a local schoolboard do your best to make sure impressionable kids aren’t taught that they’re entitled to government handouts and that they should rely on their own hardwork rather than the government to improve their lives. We have to be passionate or we’re going to lose.
If this is the strategy, then questioning John Stewart’s credibility should be priority number 1.
I am a Christian, a Conservative, and an English Teacher. I also happen to agree with tanstaafl, No. 38:
“Contrary to MuppetPastor’s claim, there is no way that any moral and political indiscretions of the Right could match up to the filthy, orchestrated attacks on Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin and her family.
The Left went into panic mode when these two individuals popped up on the national scene as they were both emblematic of straightforward honesty and high moral standards.
These character traits are the Left’s mortal enemies.”
I think THE most pro-active tactics we can take include: using the same methods our forefathers did: beseech the Almighty with our fervent prayers. Then we need to COMMUNICATE with each other as we are doing in this forum. Then, in our own distinct and individual ways, go about our lives and jobs, LOOKING for opportunities to intimidate and silence the immoral and reckless behavior we see. In my case–a teacher’s perspective–demand that I have a say in what I teach, the materials I use, and the right to exercise my expertise. We underestimate the power of “That Teacher Look”–the one to stare down the gabbling lib teacher in the Faculty Meeting, the one to silence and curtail unruly classroom behavior, and the one that “allows” Administrators to let us order our OWN textbooks and curriculae materials. We forget that we have a MORAL duty and obligation to do these things. In our OWN spheres of influence, simply living our lives the way we already know how to do is extremely intimidating to these tellers-of-lies and de-facing, corrupt, juvenile tactics. Visit your child’s classrooms. Chat with the teacher. Ask your kid what’s going on in class and what s/he is reading.
Figure out why YOUR life is good–or better–than those around you who are spouting their filth. Then be proud of your beliefs, make them known to others, and confidently trust that you ARE making a huge difference.
Like Sarah Palin and Joe The Plumber, there WILL come opportunities for you to speak the truth–and if a firestorm takes place, we’ll be there to support you.
Cheers to seeing the Left in Panic Mode!

Plus, silent conservatives make liberal Democrats very happy, and I don’t want to see them rejoice for the wrong reasons. We need NewsBusters and co……
Quite the contrary. I’ve rather enjoyed listening and watching while very vocal “conservatives” have run their mouths and dug themselves deeper and deeper and deeper…..
see you all in about 5 more presidential elections!
Using the same tactics back at the left never works. To a liberal, there is nothing to have shame or discomfort about. From the top down to the average liberal, there is no behavior so bad that it would require them to reject it.
There is nothing you can criticize on the left, because in our culture, the left is allowed all repulsive behavior. It is to be ignored, forgiven, accepted and then celebrated.
Any push back on our part has been deemed intolerant. We are bombarded with lessons to be learned, and the teaching tool emotion eliminated any ability to think critically. We do not have influence on our educational system and that is key.
Lets face it, there are really are very few of us paying attention. And the learning deficit of so much of our population is so vast, there is no way to recover from it. Most people will accept whatever comes to them in the next decade and most will never know what is missing.
I’d like to point out that there is a difference between being righteous and being self righteous. It was one thing for conservatives to start the dirty, below the belt tactics when Clinton was in office, it’s another thing entirely to try and portray yourselves as the victims when you feel that liberals are returning the favor.
This article by John Hawkins is disingenuous at best, delusional at worst.
THANK YOU, John Hawkins.
Yes, we’ve had more than enough of leftist bullying and dirty fighting. GOP pols be forewarned: You continue to turn the other cheek to these bullies, and I’ll turn my back to you on election day.
This apologizing article reflects the hypocrisy that dooms the neocon-dominated, republican party.
As a gringo who believes in the free-market and the dignity of all individuals, I suggest the author just admit that the neo-cons (and neo-liberals) have been wrong — and evil.
The tea-bagging movement (basically libertarian) either will restore constitutional policy or simply secede.
We must be as radical and boisterous in our ideas and principals as the left is.
We must not be anything like the left. They use BS propaganda, loaded arguments, race-baiting and guilt trips.
And above all, we need to purge the go-along-get-along “republicans”.
You can’t win the war of ideas by getting the Democrats to shut up – and you aren’t losing it because nobody gets a chance to hear conservative ideas.
Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Antonin Scalia, Sam Alito, etc. etc. – they’re not just hiding under a rock. People have a choice between FOX News and other news outlets, and they make it freely.
You’re not going to start catching up until you think of ideas that the majority people are going to like. The current Republican message is failing because most people don’t think it will help solve the real problems we’ve got. Example: you threw the tea parties when polls showed more willingness to pay taxes than any time in the past 40 years.
If they’re wrong, you’ve got to convince them – don’t whine that you have no platform to get your message across, because you do.

Everything the Left has won has been through violence and intimidation. Force works and it’s time we tried it as well.”
Do people really believe this stuff? Did FDR win election in 1932 (and establish Social Security, the NLRB, the SEC, etc.) through violence and intimidation? Did LBJ defeat Goldwater with violence and intimidation? Bill Clinton won in 1992 with violence and intimidation?
Sorry. Sometimes people disagree with you. Maybe they’re wrong, but the fact of their disagreement doesn’t mean they’re brainless fools or cowering in fear.
What we have on our side is 78% of the country who call themselves moderate or conservative and we should be able to win over the majority with time. Most of the hard-core supporters of the Democrat party are degenerates. They are race pimps, porn kings, gangster rappers, tax evaders, union thugs, election fraudsters, etc. and are very active in todays Democrat party. Do you remember the racist comments from a few rappers at the inaugural celebration? This is today’s Democrat party.
There is no way todays Democrat would support a candidate like JFK or Harry Truman. The party has been taken over by the hard-left. A Democrat spokesperson made a comment after the Specter defection, and suggested that Republicans need to become more like the Democrats. Is he saying, we need to become part of the hip MTV generation, where woman are Ho’s and killing cops is cool?
Reading through the comments above it’s becoming clearer to me that we’ve let the Liberals DEFINE the GOP movement for us. It’s time to take back that for ourselves. Why do we always feel the need to apologize for Fox News, Levin, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, etc., etc.? Because the Left demands that we do! Now I’m not saying that I agree with all of the above viewpoints but right now, they are as close to our brand of the MSM that the Left has been enjoying for decades. I say STOP apologizing and backing away from them. If they start to do the usual “right-wing moonbat” routine. Laugh. That’s what they do when we highlight the obvious Left leaning MSM. I’m going to stop apologizing and start embracing what we now have and hopefully that will inspire further Conservative viewpoints to be brave enough to come to the forefront.
Are you joking?
Most of the dirty politics of the last 20 years originated with the conservative movement. Lee Atwater, Karl(turdblossom)Rove. Quit trying to rewrite history.
Waaah!!! Democrats are big meanies!
After all the chest-thumping bravado we’ve seen from right-wingers over the years it sure is funny to hear a prominent conservative whining about Keith Olbermann being mean.
Toughen up, buttercup.
Palin and Plumber Boy failed because they were losers. Republicans made them famous before they knew anything about them, and when they turned out to be fools you got burned.
Same thing with that anti-gay beauty queen last week who got in a catfight with Perez Hilton. You all rallied around her and now she turns out to be just another spray-tanned airhead. Look before you leap.
Right on, John. I have been wondering for a long time when conservatives are going to start fighting back.
End of the month. No money to spend until the various government gimme checks show up on the first. Once the checks arrive, they’ll scatter.
The only problem is that the Left’s oppo research and dirty dirty tactics are well-financed. I’m all for playing for keeps. But without a Sugardaddy Soros bankrolling us, how will we raise the money? If the conservatives are serious about this, it’s going to take more than a few bake sales and passing the hat at tea parties to pull it off.
Got ideas? I’d like to hear them.

You have the First Amendment on your side: they can’t deny it to you.
At colleges, have your voice recorders ready. Hidden voice recorders. Get the info. Upload it to the Web.
IF the Left has a protest, show up. Have signs. Camcorder. Hidden cameras. Anything you can to record info and show it to millions on the Net and Sean Hannity.
It also helps to have some self-defense training with you… in case they jump at you like hungry wolves.

Thus far Obama is managing the country like he intends to destroy it – is that because he really was a Muslim after all?

362. Sophomore. Well said. I have a LOT of admiration for Bill O’Reilly, especially his philanthropy. Don’t agree with all he says. But he always does his homework and he is polite & respectful even to those he disagrees with.
On the other hand, Rush is a perfect example of mediocre entertainment talent rising to head a multi million dollar media empire by appealing to the lowest common denominator. How anyone can take him seriously is beyond me.
Al Capone once said that in his old neighborhood you would go a lot farther with a smile and a gun than with just a smile. Ya know, I think Al had a point. The gun metaphor today could just mean a desire to actually fight back, verbally that is. If Republicans think their political fights are going to be won in some university or library study, dream on. Obama personifies this point. He is the by-product of Chicago sewer politics, which was never known for its gentility or niceness. Obama knew how to play the tough game of politics, letting his henchmen do the political dirty work for him while seemingly staying above the fray. Hit the Democrats hard with facts, all the facts, no matter where they lead. Keep after them and dig up every once of dirt you can on any of their political leaders and use it against them. Unfortunately, that is the only way you’ll win in the nard-nosed world of politics. It has been true for hundreds of years now and nothing really has changed. Didn’t James Carville once say that it’s hard for the other guy to fight back when he has a fist in his nose? Republicans had better listen to that advice if they expect to win in the future. McCain ignored that advice by trying to make believe that he was above petty politics, and he lost. Any lessons learned here?
America’s colleges and universities are the finest in the world. I imagine that very few Conservative thinkers or writers are not graduates of American educational institutions.
This is the first time I’ve come to this web site. I’m appalled to see that Hawkins and 85% of the posters here sound like fourth graders who’ve just lost a food fight in the school cafeteria and are determined to get back at the mean, nasty, unfair kids who bested them.
The majority of American voters in 2008 rejected McCain-Palin and the Republican platform because their ideas had just given us eight years of sheer greed and incompetence which led to two wars, torture, war crimes, neglect of our environment and the victims of a major national disaster, and the systematic looting of our economy.
The Republican ideology has only two planks: tax cuts for the rich and oppressive governmental control of women’s bodies.
If, instead of name-calling and disrupting public speakers, conservatives could express some good ideas for restoring a healthy society after its trashing by Bush-Cheney and the neo-conservatives, perhaps they could attract more than the 20% of voters who now self-identify as being Republicans.
No, the “mean, nasty” liberals didn’t do conservatives in, the total lack of intelligent ideas did. So, rather than throwing rotten tomatoes at speakers you disagree with, how about throwing out some good ideas and policies. That is the only way to return from the political wilderness in which you now find yourselves.
Well, if the number of people voting for your party rises proportionally with the meanness, dishonesty, thuggishness and violence associated with it, then God help us all. Thankfully, I don’t think that will be the case.
On a more pragmatic note, you think the MSM is unfairly biased against conservatives now? Wait till you start suppressing speech and keying cars. However, as I said a long way up this thread, nobody proposing these kinds of activities has made a coherent argument that they’ll actually increase Republican representation.
(That isn’t to say that there aren’t some sane and therefore likely more effective strategies proposed by some posters here; for example, I think that shouting down the shout-downers, humiliating and intimidating them all the way out of the venue, is a fine idea. In a better world, people of any political persuasion would do the same, regardless of the positions of the speakers or protesters.)
373-
Why just a metaphor? We have certain rights for a reason. There’s also a reason why they would love nothing more than to wipe their asses w/ the first & second amendments.
I like the way Boortz put it: “If we outlaw guns, then only the government will have guns.” Well, criminals, too.

The problem is, to a great extent ‘the left’ can bury any story on the web andy website, any particularly cutting video… They wish it into the cornfield and banish it to sites that are only viewed bt ‘the right’.
If these stories do appear on popular sites like youtube, they are winnowed out in the earch Engines, buried by the folks at Digg, marked as spam, removed from auto-suggest. IOn essence patrolled, policed and expunged from the internet from the top down. Google Youtube will actively annihilate anything that is remotely critical of Obama.
All of this is true, and proven, -and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
They lost the press and the OLD MSM.
But the Left owns the Internet, Lock Stock & Barrel.
Right.. as opposed to anyone not agreeing with Palin and company being called un-american and not patriotic. As opposed to people questioning the need to go to war with Iraq being called anti-military. As opposed to liberalism being called a disease. Face it, the Democrats finally stooped to the GOP level and the GOP got hoisted on it’s own petard… and continues to do so as long as it takes queues from whackjob talk radio.
This is one of the goddamnest, idiotic articles I have every read. And brilliant commentary, too. With “thinking” like this, no wonder the GOP got its arse handed to it the last two elections. Good grief, grow up folks.
Wow way late. Sorry.
bobbcat@32,
If the Republicans do not win a majority in 2010, your admonition about “sucking hind teat for 50 years” becomes irrelevant. After losing in 2010, there won’t be anything valuable remaining to fight for, and the Republican Party will die a very quick death.
Do you really think any “targeted” Republican will stand a chance against the Obama hordes working against in their districts, using gov’t money? The new kapo-korp. Do you actually believe the list of Republican donors won’t become a target acquisition tool?
All your talk of the Administration’s incompetence, cluelessness, buffoonery, et al, when the Left has clearly outthought, outmanuvered, outaxed, outspent, and soon will outgun you.
Given the destruction wrought in just 100 days, these guys look pretty g*ddamn expert to me; so quit giving them the benefit of the “stupid” defense…it miscontrues the problem.
Jeez, most of you talk like there’s some salvaging a semblance of was once US, without bloodshed. Probably fits the definition of denial.
D’ja think they are ever planning to turn the country back over to anybody, now they have near-total control? Census-taking by Democrat imposed algorithm? Nationalized finance, banking, automaking, mortgage lending, and soon healthcare. It’s a little late for boycotts.
My first reaction to 0bama’s screwing of the GM bondholders was like many here – I’ll never buy a GM car. However, I can foresee this actually backfiring as this gov’t will impose trade restrictions on all non-US-based automakers, sose those union workers are assured those hi-payin jobs, for ever. That along with a “Buy America” clause that mandates the gov’t buy ONLY GM vehicles.
In earlier times in the US, the citizenry would have dragged this bunch of corrupt thieves out of their offices, hanging many and tar & feathering the rest.
It occurs to me that if your serious about reversing course for the US, the electeds must soon feel a way higher level of threat. Un-electing these crooks just allows’em to retire on full pension and benefits for life – on your dime.
“Face it, the Democrats finally stooped to the GOP level and the GOP got hoisted on it’s own petard… and continues to do so as long as it takes queues from whackjob talk radio.”
True. We’re not all on the level and sane like Janeane Garofailo & Howard Dean. There’s a couple real fine examples of level-headed, loving human beings. When we start to murder fetuses at will and tax small business to death, we’ll be rising to their high station.
The lesson here is that, as any good progressive will tell you ad nauseum, they are the real moral authority: Planned Parenthood is good for the family, guns are bad, religion is evil (unless it’s Statist), and free speech is good, so long as it isn’t hate speech… Hate speech being any speech that goes against the leftist progressive status quo.
* Bush is a Nazi for Gitmo, but FDR is a hero for Japanes-American internment camps.
* Rush Limbaugh is a big fat meanie, but Michael Moore is level headed & has a clue about the real world. And he’s not fat, like fat fatty fat-fat Rush.
* Jews are OK (for now), but Israel needs to go.
* The mainstream media is moderate & fair, but FoxNews is fascist propoganda. Do not say otherwise.
* Minorities need the DNC, otherwise the GOP will help them succeed on their own like everyone else, and that would just be unfair. After all, welfare builds character.
* Ann Coulter looks like an anorexic man. Andrea Dworkin on the other hand…now there’s a fine chunk o’ womanly charm.
And among my of my favorites:
* Dissent is the highest form of patriotism AND Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel…it all depends on who’s in the White House at the time.
(Heh! No disconnect in those last two.)
* Michelle Malkin is a racist chink.
Cherish your jobs Ken & Craig.
This post and the corresponding comments are some of the most delusional, mendacious, or skewed reasoning I’ve heard in quite some time. Great job at keeping yourselves feeling marginalized and irrelevant, however.
Hilarious. The only thing funnier than the ‘article’ is the comments. Funniest thing I’ve read all week. More please.
Reading the commentary reminds me of grade school children (posters) standing in front of a mirror (the blog and their admiring fellow posters) playing with their tiny pee pees (ignorant verbiage) attempting to feel some semblance of potency (delusional ideation) in their otherwise impotent condition (un- or under-employed).
Pathetic not patriotic.
Wow! It only took the trolls a day & a half to get their basement supprt group to come tell us more of what they think. No stopping them now!
I’m joking, of course; they’re just telling us what they think they think.
Just don’t expect genuine discourse…if you’re expecting that, you might as well ask them to grow a foot taller overnight. Who knows? You might have better luck with that.
re: Pastor of Muppets:
“Remember the myriad of racist ads, statements and materials released by the Republican Party during the last election?”
No, there were no racist attacks against Obama. There were only sexist attacks waged by Obama against his opponents in both the primary & general elections.
“Remember Watergate, the dirtiest political trick in the history of the American Presidency?”
I would think that LBJ & Daly stealing the election for JFK in 1960 was the dirtiest trick
“Remember that you are the party of Richard Nixon, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and a whole long list of southern racists who have stooped to disgustingly low levels to win elections and ruin opponents.”
The only former KKK member who served in the Federal Government during GWBush’s administration was Sen Byrd , DEMOCRAT from W.Va.
The KKK was founded by the Democratic party to attack “carpet-bagger” Republicans during Reconstruction. The Republican Party was the abolitionist party & the Democratic party was the pro-slavery, pro-Jim Crow, anti-civil rights party.
“Genuine discourse”? With this group? Hilarious … the level of critical thought demonstrated by the posters is a clear indication that you folks are neither amenable, nor capable, of “genuine” or cogent discourse. Sadly, but consistently, you delude yourselves into a false worldview. As I said earlier, pathetic. The pathos has to do with thought process not ideological position. It would be equally repugnant spewed from lips on the left.
I’m no fan of trollishness, but attempts to engage in intelligent discourse are themselves rarely rewarded. My own attempts at trying to engage people on the serious matters raised by this article, as well as some of the other comments made, have been met by about 9 parts silence and 1 part incoherent insults.
So, if your goal is to engage in genuine discourse, the invitation remains open. If it’s actually not, though, then you have little to complain about.
Wboyz (and Wgs) face up,
YOU LOST LIVE WITH IT!
Que Lastima!
Supposing, just supposing (this is merely a thought experiment and not an incitement to any unlawful action):
What would happen if so many Americans violated the tax laws, abortion clinic protest laws, and other intolerable enactments that there was not enough jail space to hold them all?
What would happen if key leftists in academia, journalism and entertainment were to start disappearing without a trace? Is it the Left or the Right that controls most of the firepower in the USA? And this is a big, big country. Did they ever find Hoffa? How long have they been searching?
The TWO big advantages that the Liberals have over Conservatives are: 1. The Mainstream Media are the total lapdog hacks for the Liberals. And 2. Too many Americans, who are at least nominal Conservatives, are either too lazy to get their information from some place other than the nightly news or are unaware that there are alternative sources of news. A couple of good examples are: Jewish World Review and World Net Daily.
There are many good Conservative news sources on the Net which is why Liberals want to stifle a free Internet.
Well, that’s it for me. Game over. The interlopers who came here to make sure we know what’s on their minds have really shown me but good. I have no rejoinder that could compare with their self-replicating assessments that everyone but them is a big bunch of meal ol’ stupid doodyheads.
Man, they sure got us pegged. It’s nice to have them come here to make us better people. I mean, where would we be without their enlightened opinions? All the commentators here, aside from them, are immature 4th graders…not big 5th graders like them.
I guess that’s the problem with conservative blog groups like this: despite the fact that anyone can comment on any thread at any time, it’s still an echo chamber… not like the “open-minded” majority of leftarded blogs/blog groups, where you have to register before you can leave a comment on a thread – and then only after it’s been screened for content by a moderator.
But after all that, it’s totally a free exchange of ideas all around! You know, so long as it doesn’t go against the progressive grain.
But I digress. Back to what I was saying: You sure showed us!
Considering the bitter and insulting talk about liberals etc. brayed out on talk radio, it is odd to complain that liberals do most of the nasty stuff. Then there’s books like “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder”, Ann Coulter’s columns and books – are you aware of these? There is some, but you have no honest basis for pretending that most of it comes from the Left.
Maybe you mean, rank and file Republicans etc. – but since Republicans are starting to get identified with erratic examples like Michelle Bachman, talk of secession, etc., you’d be better off acting reasonable (that can mean being a self-confident advocate, nothing wrong with that.) Being sane and reasonable is the only thing left, keeping the conservative movement from being totally written off by almost everyone.
Someone once said you fight fire with fire. if it good for the Democrats to bash, then need we say more?????? Being timid never got you anthing but being left out..
Curtis E. Mayle – Look, Einstein, you’re the one talking about children playing with their “pee-pees.” I’d say the likelihood of intelligent discourse with you is precisely zero.
Obama and his followers are now the system. The Man. Even this media will not be able to avoid responsibility much longer. The “Bush made me do it” mantra was growing old before 100 days. Saturday Night Live is dead. Most of the hip comedians have not been funny for years. You can’t give away other peoples money forever. They have no ideas, the emperor has no clothes. The kids in college will be paying this payoff to the rich failed industries and financial institutions and they will not get jobs to pay for their over priced education. Why hasn’t the new technology cut the cost of education by half or maybe nine tenths? Because it was an empty promise, the bloated education system {like our government) is protected against progress and technology to pay teachers not to work most of the year and graduate students, many who have no useful skills except class envy, self hate and the ability to whine.
#396 Neil …..I was a liberal in my twenties, and yes, I was suffering from a mental disorder.
There would not be a Democrat party without the mainstream media propping it up.
You mean the right WASN’T fighting dirty before??? You mean it’s only THE LEFT who has used underhanded tactics all this time???
My god, what a total crock!
Have fun in 2010, losers! LOL!
Lol. Wow, this is better than the onion. Thank you so much for a great laugh. Keep up the good work. Maybe you could get a job on the Colbert report. Best satire I’ve read in ages.
This thread is as funny as advertised! Perpetual victims of the world unite…those scawy wiberals are being so mean to us!
Some of you seem to have forgotten the last eight or so years, in which you and your ilk completely screwed up everything you touched. Economy? Sank it. Wars? Love to start ‘em, can’t finish ‘em. Constitution? Shredded it. Health Care? That’s for poor people. Government? Mismanaged it. If I’ve left anything out, I’m confident you screwed the pooch on that, too.
You really think the reason your policies and electoral chances are now so completely marginal is because of nasty liberals? Grow a pair and take some responsibility for your actions. You had your chance and you blew it.
And wait a minute…I thought liberals were pansies and you were the tough guys?
Lefties…So damned predictable.
Dear Grasshopper,
Let me be sure I understand what Master Li taught you at the Shaolin temple.
So, it’s not enough that our 2008 vice-presidential nominee and heir-apparent for 2012 is a pretty, doting mom who can shoot the eyelashes off a gnat at 500 yards and field dress a moose, you want to vulgarize further the National Political Culture with a new conservative policy of fighting back against bullying?
Have you even briefly considered how that will fundamentally undermine the President’s policy abroad, indeed, the whole mission and credibility of the U.S. State Department historically? Have you thought for a moment about the disheartening effect on hope-inspired Liberals like Jeanine Garofala, trying to introduce scientific conflict resolution to a national audience? Have you given any serious reflection to how this new policy undermines the dramatic gains of Peggy Noonan’s Third Way movement, setting us back at least a generation in achieving a “kinder, gentler nation?” THIS is what the monks taught you, Quang Chai? What animal do you emulate: a bull in a china shop?
Still, I like it. In college, I studied Shotokan Karate, orinally developed on Okinawa and introduced to Japan in the 20′s by Master Funakoshi(“Shoto” being the pen name he used for poetry). Instructors from Japan told the 60′s tale of a 1st generation master who inadvertently walked into a Japanese mafia clubhouse on his way home from training one evening. No apologies being accepted, he had to fight his way back out again; the score: more than a dozen Yakuza in various states of distress heading for the hospital; one Shotokan master limping home on a broken foot. The entire school, instructors and pupils, marched silently past the Yakuza clubhouse the next day. There were no repercussions. BULLY!
By coincidence, Bristol Palin and I attended the same high school and played on the same sports team, 40 years apart. I don’t like it when some fey Pretty-Boy on CNN goes after a Crimson Bear, particularly when he has glaring family and personal problems of his own. I believe on CAN accumulate a surplus of cheek-turning moral superiority. Besides, I’m just plain tired of french fries bouncing off our heads in the lunchroom, gobbling sounds following us down the hall, and being test subjects for all manner of field expedient kinetic devices in class. I’m ready to brush the snow off my parka from the Tea Party I attended and see us become distinctly impolite–even as brutally “hurtful” as we are accused of being in any event.
And if Peggy Noonan and her Petite Trianon dinner club think less of us, well, I can only quote back to her the proud French motto now emblazoned forever on her political escutcheon: “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche.”

[You DO know you've made the Napolitano Watch List with this blog, do you not, Grasshopper? In fact, she probably added your Kung Fu instructor and everyone reading the blog. Janet is a savvy professional who knows that tea bags mean Right Wing trouble brewing.]
The joys of boards that don’t require a registration. I would imagine that most of the “enlightened” leftist trolls here fail to see the irony in their posts on this thread
Damn lefties and their social justice, health care for all, human rights. Who needs that crap. The government needs to stay off our backs. Oh except to tell us how to have sex and who to have it with. Oh and of course to make sure that no more immigrants get in. I mean geez, you’d think this country was made up of immigrants or something.

Sorry for not responding to comment 273 and 277, as well as 212. But I think I’ve got ‘it’.
Hit this morning with sore throat and coughing. Expanding over the course of the day to includ fatigue, headache, earache and, oddly enough, toothache, probably due to sinus infection making the gums overly sensitive….all on the right side. Lots of sleeping today.
Ironically, I suspect I contracted it courtesy of some woman at the public health department’s briefing-public forum on the flu yesterday morning. She was coughing and sniffling like I am today. And, as I had not been out of the house the previous two days…..
Fast, bug this. Most bugs have a 3-5 day lag-period. Not this one….24 hours or less…..
Symptoms are not horrific at this time, but certainly there.

Chuck(le)
P.S. More tomorrow, hopefully….
all this talk about “disappearing” people, veiled threats about how republicans have weapons and know how to use them. . . I hope there won’t be another Richard Poplawski.
also, the reason this article got a lot of hits from liberals who otherwise wouldn’t read pajamasmedia is because it was front page linked from
http://www.memeorandum.com
just a FYI
Then there’s books like “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder”…are you aware…?
Yes.
It’s actually a rather
Sound Thesis

Can I get some of what this guy is smoking?
A honest question: Can a self-described conservative please explain to me what, in their opinion, communism is and why Barack Obama is clearly a supporter of it?
Bonus points for anyone who’d like to define fascism as they see it and explain how the president fits that definition.
Also, I know beggars can’t be choosers, but wanting to “spread the wealth around” does not equal communism. It just doesn’t.
Regarding shouting down liberal speakers on college campuses, Bill Ayers was allowed to preach his anti-American nonsense for three days recently at the University of Illinois Urbana campus, and when a protester who had been there the previous two nights asking “tough” questions (which, by the way Ayers mostly refused to answer) tried once again to ask questions the protestor was removed by security. In case you wondered how free speech works with leftists.

RE: Questions….Questions….
The idea that the state owns everything and doles resources out to individuals as it deems proper.
[1] He learned well at the feet of Ayers.
[2] He hates democratic forms.
Another totalitarian form of government. From an economic form, it does not say the state owns all property. But it controls the economy by controlling the business.
Obama appears to be using both communist and fascist forms in managing the business of business.
Additionally, both forms are antithetical to democratic forms of government.
We’ll see what happens, but I’ll bet dollars to donuts we’ll see a LOT of the totalitarianism coming out in the form of various legislative acts that will curtail the Bill of Rights. Starting with Amendment #1, vis-a-vis freedom of expression.
I think a bill was recently introduced about ‘expansion of hate speech’.
Hope that helps….

Chuck(le)
