The Looming ObamaCare Oil Slick
A desperate political ad for Russ Feingold aired in Wisconsin last week. In the ad a “community coordinator” named Paulina says, “Russ [Feingold] fought to stop insurance companies from denying Wisconsin children health care due to pre-existing conditions.” The community coordinator then concludes with: “Ron Johnson, hands off my health care.” Feingold may be the only Democrat left in Washington who isn’t sprinting away from the unpopular health care overhaul, which was passed in secrecy earlier this year without being read and against the will of the vast majority of the American people.
The British Petroleum Deepwater Horizon oil leak trumpeted by anti-capitalists as the world-ending crisis of the millennium has turned out to be much ado about nothing — just another in a long line of manufactured distractions from the real destruction being masterminded out of Washington. Stretches of pristine coastline and marshes unscathed by oil and teeming with wildlife — egrets, brown pelicans, porpoises, crabs, alligators and lots of fish — are flourishing in stark contrast to the ecowarriors’ doomsday predictions of millions of gallons of crude oil coating the Gulf Coast from Florida to Texas. As dire as these discredited and media-hyped predictions were, however, they pale in comparison to the devastation coming our way in 2011, when the coming oil slick of ObamaCare washes up on the shore of the American economy, bringing destruction and devastation that will take generations to repair. And Russ Feingold is proudly taking credit for it.
At last month’s rally in the People’s Republic of Madison, President Obama announced that Russ Feingold “doesn’t always agree with me but always agrees with the people of his state.” That makes about as much sense as Obama’s commencement speech at the traditionally all-black Hampton University last May, when he said that “information becomes a distraction.” You see, 54% of Wisconsin residents opposed the very ObamaCare bill Feingold voted for. Yet Feinfold toed the party line instead of listening to his constituents.
The dysfunctional, indecipherable, and wildly unpopular government takeover of one-fifth of our nation’s economy has even McDonald’s Corporation jumping ship. The fast food giant warned federal regulators last month that it would drop its health insurance plan for nearly 30,000 hourly restaurant workers unless regulators waive a new requirement of ObamaCare. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
Feingold’s attempted heartstring tug mentioning pre-existing conditions for children turns out to be more evidence of the farce of ObamaCare. Just days after President Obama signed the new health care law, insurance companies pointed out that coverage for certain children with pre-existing conditions was actually not mandated. The insurance companies our president promised would be banned forever from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions quickly pointed out that ObamaCare does not require them to write insurance for such children and does not guarantee the “availability of coverage” as the president promised.

This is what happens when politicians totally disregard the will of their constituents. Could you imagine, just imagine, what would have happened if George W. Bush and the Republicans in Congress had rammed through their immigration “reform” even though the bulk of the people were against it? Republicans would have been finished as a political party for a generation.
But Obama and the arrogant Democrats in Congress did just that. They passed bill after bill even though the vast majority of Americans were against each piece of pork the Democrats jammed through. Now the Democrats are going to pay for not standing up to that arrogant, naive, fool in the White House. I hope people like Russ Feingold choke on the decisions they made. The Democrats have to understand that the American people DO matter. If politicians don’t listen, then I hope they can find another day job.
The government’s, i.e. taxpayers’, liability for health care can be nearly zeroed out if they would just get the Heck out of the health care market. I don’t want to pay for or participate in Medicare. I prefer to manage my own health care. Medicaid should be abolished and after real, free market reform manages to bring down the cost of health care the truly needy that remain can be set up with state funded, not the fed, HSA accounts from which they can purchase their own health insurance. I am NOT my brothers keeper and I am NOT a socialist and neither are the 50+% of taxpaying Americans who actually pull this horse cart called the federal government.
The crowd that equates “insurance” with health care makes my blood boil.
All insurance is supposed to mean is that there is money to pay the doctor if you should get sick.
What Feingold, Obama and the rest of the Democrats want to do is to limit what doctors and other medical practitioners may be paid and they can’t comprehend that that means a WHOLE lot fewer medical practitioners practicing a WHOLE lot fewer hours which means a WHOLE lot less health care.
Health care reform should be about increasing the number of competent doctors, nurses etc.; and increasing the efficiency as to how they deliver their services.
Savings should be sought by increasing competition — which along with encouraging more doctors would include things like allowing some practitioners (paramedics, nurses) to do things they now may not and making interstate consultations easier — and cutting cost not directly related to treatment (liability insurance, bookkeeping).
Mr. Wickert refers to our national wrecker several times as “our president.” Good grief. You don’t have to rub it in.
Ill conceived, vaguely written (and for good lawyering reasons), almost no health care cost controls, restrictions piled upon restrications and a sweeping increase in the federal bureaucracy to insure the estimated 15 to 40 million without health insurance? It is time for Russ (not my fault) Feingold, Barbie Boxer, Barney Rubble and “We haven’t read it but can’t wait to see what’s in it”, Nancy (not Drew) Pelosi take the responsibility for this mess. The Patient Protection and Affordability Act accomplished neither.
I wrote letters, I called my Reps in Washington, damn I screamed from the rooftops that I did NOT want the healthcare bill passed. What did I receive in return? Letters from my Reps explaining to me why this is GOOD for me. That is BS. Obamacare is the ABSOLUTE worst bill ever written and passed AGAINST the American people. I knew it then and it is becoming all the more obvious – the politicans that voted for this wreck WILL PAY THE ULTIMATE PRICE for their vote. They will lose their jobs. That is the way it works here in the good ol USA. It is WE THE PEOPLE. Bye bye Demonrats and GOOD RIDDANCE. Vote Republican.
Obamacare says it all. This piece of legislation may not be the best but it can and will get worked out over time. Why should the richest nation in the world have some of the least amount of health care for all it’s citizens this does not make any rational sense. and is a sad label to the world to wear that we care more about the bottom line and business then we do about our people. A lot of the mess comes from the Republicans who have tried to stop anything that the President has tried to do. But even if it would have been Hillary Clinton the same would have been done to her and her administration. This reveals a party that does not care about the welfare of the people just votes and giving the upper hand to big business as President Bush and President Reagan so easily did. And please let us not forget what has gotten us into this economic mess with deregulation of wall street, the banks, insurance etc.. all on the watch of a Republican president and a Republican congress.

Riiiiiggggghhhhtttt.
Get a clue fool.
Wow, I can’t believe you are still hanging onto these tired old narratives from the Democratic talking points that have long been refuted time and time again. The healthcare reform bill that ended up being passed almost exactly mimicks the one that Hillary Clinton campaigned on and oddly enough was debated against by Obama himself. Obama, the shrewd politician and businessman that he is, accepted practically the first offer that the insurance companies proposed; what a real hard-nose negotiator.
The life expectancy of people over the age of 60 in the U.S. is among the highest in the world. Our rates of cancer survival are nearly unsurpassed. Our end of life care is among the most humane and caring that can be found. Socialized medicine does a great job of managing care for young people who aren’t sick. Pray you never get sick enough or old enough to end up in a dilapidated, underfunded, and understaffed hospital in a socialized system.
But none of this matters. All this healthcare bill was designed to do is wreck our current healthcare system so that it can be replaced with a universal healthcare system. Don’t believe me, just go listen to Obama say so himself — baby steps, but we will get there; a universal healthcare system. You know, just like the system that the British are slowly backing out of because they can’t afford it anymore. Yea, that’s some real compassion there. Let’s just purposely upend people’s current healthcare needs so that some future generation can enjoy supposedly “free” healthcare. My heart just bleeds, I tell ya — I hope that’s covered.
Congratulations on the above written authors who have figured out what real health care is. It is about taking care of yourself, and on the larger scale, American exceptionalism. Obamacare is Sickcare that promotes victimhood, co-dependence, cancerous regulation, and self-pity.
How colonies of mindsets, like Madison,Wisconsin with the youth vote can tremble at their own health futures, and demand nanny state along with happy drugs and a ticket to slavery does not reflect a good education. Taking advantage of that naivety or self destruction is ordinary bait for a politician to slick in votes. Hopefully Big Brother will be a kind master to their assets.
Congress created the problem by exempting employer provided health insurance from WWII wage and price controls. You have to wonder at the credibility of people who think they can or will, after over 65 years of evidence to the contrary, fix the mess they created.
It could only be worse if judges made it up.
LOL…pretty funny stuff Jeff #7. Did you have progressive talking points implanted into your head?
