I've been a Hulk fan for a long time (which I'm pretty sure makes me uncool! haha!) and I didn't pick up on the "anti-American-military" theme at all, since, as several others have pointed out, that's the way the story was written to begin with - a human weapon gone awry. Iron Man's political overtones were far more blatant. Don't much care for American generals being portrayed as villains, either, especially when lawyers from the creepy little crypto-country called Belgium keep trying to charge American soldiers with "war crimes."
