The Election Should Be All About Barack Obama’s Record
The central problem with Barack Obama’s presidential record is that it is chock full of records — almost all of them painful, harmful, or both. What follows are just a few of them, focusing in the interest of space on the economy and the federal government’s finances.
Most trillion-dollar annual deficits rung up (as well as the only ones): 4.
The deficit during the last eight months of the fiscal year which ended on September 30, 2009, the first eight full months of Obama’s presidency, was $1.02 trillion. That was followed by full fiscal-year deficits of just under $1.3 trillion in 2010 and 2011. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that fiscal 2012′s full-year deficit will be $1.2 trillion. Unless David Axelrod’s Ministry of Information Management (otherwise known as the Obama For America campaign) intervenes, the Treasury Department will release final results for fiscal 2012 in mid-October, right in the middle of early voting and about three weeks before Election Day.
Most consecutive months of seasonally adjusted unemployment above 8%: 38, and counting.
Every single full month of Obama’s presidency has seen an unemployment rate at least that high. Other related records are far too numerous to specifically mention, but there is no reasonable doubt that the pain inflicted on the long-term unemployed during the barely noticeable to non-existent recovery has been far more severe than at any time since the Great Depression, and markedly worse than what we saw for a relatively brief time during the early 1980s. The recent surge in jobless claims and March’s disappointing job creation make it fairly likely that the unemployment rate won’t fall below 8% before Election Day — and even if it does, the shocking shrinkage in the workforce during Obama’s term will render such a result completely unimpressive.
Unless it also gets the ax from Axelrod, the Bureau of Labor Statistics will issue the October employment report on November 2, the Friday before Election Day.
Number of post-recession quarters required for a post-World War II economy to return to its pre-recession size: 9.
Believe it or not, the previous record was three. And since Obama’s best buddy these days seems to be Warren Buffett, I should note that based on the personal benchmark of the billion-dollar ower of Omaha, we’re far from achieving a true recovery, which he defines as when “real per capita GDP gets back to where it was before.”
The government’s last report on economic growth will arrive on October 26; I don’t think David Axelrod will have the nerve to try to delay that one, no matter what it says. That’s eleven days before Election Day. There’s no good reason to believe it will be anywhere near the 4%-plus annualized growth needed for meaningful job creation coming out of a recession (or in this case, out of a barely noticeable to non-existent recovery). Forecasts for full-year growth in 2012 tell us that attaining even the 3% needed to claim anything resembling acceptability will be difficult.
No president since World War II has a poorer record of economic and fiscal stewardship than Barack Obama. The frightening tax hikes on the horizon for January 2013, increases he will almost certainly allow to take effect once he’s reelected, will make his first term seem like a picnic. His only hope appears to be to pretend that it’s 1936 and, as Franklin Delano Roosevelt did that year, make the election about demonizing the successful and convincing the disengaged that it is noble to confiscate and redistribute their income and wealth.
The world has changed quite a bit in the past 76 years, and a president’s ability to hide the truth from the public is nowhere near what it was when FDR reigned supreme but presided over a tragically underperforming economy. But I wouldn’t rule out Obama’s ability to successfully play the envy and class warfare cards. Heaven help the American people if a majority of us let him get away with it.

Bad??…say, listen, bub…If I had a dog whose face looked as bad as Obama’s record,I’d shave his ass and teach him to walk backwards…yea!
If that dog were a pug forget doing that!
That dog might end up on the menu at Obama’s last State dinner.
So, what will Obama run on? The I’m a good Marxist or incompetent fool platform?
I would say a manufactured crisis of his making to take the minds of the public off the real problems? Start a war and protect our Country?
That’s not too far fetched. He has shown he is willing to go to war when he started bombing Libya even though we had no strategic reason to do so. Hopefully he won’t attack Iran but he might hit Syria.
Actually I hope he does attack Iran. In fact if it a failing re-election bid so be it. We can survive a few more years of his idiocy, we won’t be able to survive Iranian nukes in our ports and coastal refineries.
Only one country, the United States has used nuclear weapons against a population. Nuclear weapons have twice been deployed in wartime: two nuclear weapons were used by the United States against Japan in World War II in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Altogether, the two bombings killed an estimated 200,000 Japanese citizens and injured another 130,000. There is still disagreement as to whether the deployments were necessary.
The gist of his campaign so far seems to be “vote for me to prevent a return to the failed policies of the past” (he’s still running against Bush). Apparently to the denizens of Obamaland, the failed policies of the present are much preferred.
WOW – I agree. In fact you’ve summed up very nicely why I am voting for Obama this time (voted Green in 08)
If it sounds like Karl Marx, acts like Benito Mussolini, lies like Joe Izzusu, vacations like he thinks he and his wife are King Louie and Maria Antoinette, attracts followers reminiscent of those attracted by Jim Jones, and stumbles like Bozo the Clown, it’s probably Barack Obama!!!
Too bad that won’t fit on a bumper sticker!
Politics in late 20th and early 21st centuries is a work of art. The display through the information/propaganda media. The pros and cons of any of the works, the persons applying for office, decided by the creative artists, aka Mad Men and pundits of those media.
The major criterion of value of any work of art is its authenticity. Originals more valuable than copies, counterfeits, fakes. Determination of the authenticity a necessary part of the value of the work. Authenticity generally determined by far-reaching and detailed examination of the PROVENANCE of the work by numbers of persons. There are accepted and understood criteria for an evaluation and assignment of authenticity.
Bizarrely the aforementioned guides to political action object vigourously to examination of the PROVENANCE of their favoured artwork Obama the candidate for the Executive Office. Attacking those who insist on its necessity as malevolent, deranged, as destructive. Relentless in their continuing pilloring of such persons. Although there are agreed upon criteria for authenticity in the foundation documents of law on which all laws in the USA are justified, the Constitution.
Their behaviours, unrelenting and escalating as the subject becomes of increasing public interest, should make reasonable persons suspect that they are being sold a “pig in a poke”, a counterfeit, a fake. But what sort of fake. Feint in dubbing their Obama during the campaign as the “New Kennedy”. With a glamourous wife and two lovely children. Copy, counterfeit, fake?
Fake, counterfeit of what?
And you did not even discuss what would happen if Europe falls to pieces. Right now, the European economy is hanging by a thread, especially in places like Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland, and the “ever popular” Greece, which is still in danger of simply collapsing. Add to that the possibility that France could have a far-left socialist replacing Sarkozy, even France could be going down the toilet in the very near future. Britain is officially now in a double-dib recession and Holland is looking bad, too. So things in Europe are not looking good at all and if it goes down, we go down with it. There is a long time between now and election day and a lot can happen in Europe between now and then. Unfortunately for the rest of us, none of it looks good.
There will be elections in Greece on May, 6th. The parties supporting the austerity plan could suffer severe losses, Communists and neo-nazi parties could gain a lot of votes.
In Czechia the reigning coalition could break apart and after the next elections there could be a Socialist government, backed by the Stalinist KSCM.
The USA is the only hope left for freedom in the world. Ihope that the situation in Europe will motivate US voters to get rid of the cultural Europeans of the Obama administration.
there is a huge lesson in your prediction: people love their free stuff and they will not part with it easily, even if hanging onto it is disastrous. THAT speaks to the success of a generation+ worth of liberal indoctrination that mother govt can and will provide all, that the rich only got that way at someone else’s expense, and that you the individual are doomed unless the imperial capital comes to your aid.
Someone once said a govt that takes from Peter to give to Paul can always count on Paul’s support. The number of Paul’s is outpacing the Peters. Not hard to see what follows.
Or as my dad used to say, if you rob peter to pay paul, paul will be your friend, peter in or peter out.
You are so right. The most worrisome aspect is the cast of characters that comprise our current “leadership” in the face of a catastrophe such as you describe. Who among these clowns would be a Churchill, Roosevelt, Thatcher, or Reagan…..or even a “W” following 9/11? Thinking about that is more terrifying than thoughts of the potential event itself.
Ah, the PIIGS. There is speculation that Merkel and Sarkozy have billions of marks and franks printed and trucks waiting to take them to the banks in the middle of the night. Germany will not go down with the EU, right now they are the only country propping it up.
The economy is big, but it isn’t all. There are two other big factors: lies and arrogance. Obama lies pretty much every time he opens his mouth, and his big lie — that he was a reasonable, postpartisan moderate and centrist — has been duly noted by many who voted for him. The arrogance? Well, it’s too bad Christopher Hitchens is no longer around to write a book about that — “No One Left to Condescend To”? — but ObamaCare was only the most egregious of its many manifestations. There are many putative “strong Obama supporters” who actually won’t vote or will secretly vote for Romney or a third-party throw-away if one’s available.
Obama still has many advantages which include the public school unions and the students they teach; the American university professors and all the students they brainwash; the big city thug unions and democrat power centers; Hollywood with all of its billions; wall street, left wing Christians and Jews et al.
So it will take quite an effort by the hard working decent people who are left in this New American state to prevail. The odds seemed stacked against us; American Marxism is very very strong. Time to hunker down and find a food source and store ammuntion; Civil War II is just around the corner.
Just a suggestion, drop the public term, and replace it with government! It works better than the other when making a point! Peace!
I think you are being overly pessimistic on a couple of points. Firstly, I wouldn’t count all the unions in lil barry’s backpocket. ABC News, of all places, produced this, http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/us-bridges-roads-built-chinese-firms-14594513?tab=9482930?ion=1206853&playlist=14594944 Couple that with his blocking of irrigation in SoCal to save some little fish, thereby decimating the agricultural sector. I think he could lose California, and that would be the coup de grace.
POTUS has nothing to point to, so he will point to nothing. Such nothing’s will include Romney’s dog, Romney polygamous great-grandparents, Romney’s religion, Romney’s wealth, Romney’s extremism, etc., etc., etc. It will be up to Romeny to throw all of that back, and more, in O’s face, and then present a coherent plan of his own. I think he is doing OK on answering O on some of the nothings, but if recent polls are correct, he has thus far not made his economic plans apparent to voters. That I think is a must do.
Relax – most folk don’t pay much attention to the political campaigning until after Labor Day. Plenty of time for the GOP/Romney to get the message out. For now its all a ‘tune-up’ to the real slug-fest.
the only records i’ve seen that he’s left so far have been criminal records , he has the news liberal news media reporting about call girls in south america , what about the poor wemen and children that he had blown up , that was killed or mangled up really bad ? what about the 2 american citizens he had blown up with the drone plane ,? why aren’t they reporting on that which is more important than call girls ? i believe that obama is trying to keep that kind of news for getting to the public , he’s been good about that , he just lets the less important news get reported , his elevator doesn’t quite make it to the top don’t seem like , his way of thinking is like he’s in the twilight zone , need to call obama to earth , obama to earth , still no answer
Gary, Lets start with the event that created this monster. He was never vetted. When the Democrat/Liberal birthers vetted John McCain inquiring into whether or not he was a “natural born Citizen” or not the same folks and the Republicans and John McCain himself gave Barack Hussein Obama a free pass. Obama should have been vetted and forced to meet the same standards that Senate Resolution 511 set for McCain. Obama would have never survived that vetting. He is not a “natural born Citizen” never was and can never be. The scandal would have ended there. You can google the trans-script of the Resolution hearing and read the words of Senator Patrick Leahy, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He stated four times that he believed that McCain was a “natural born Citizen” because his parents (that would be plural) were American citizens (that would also be plural)at the time of John McCain’s birth. He got it right! Miracles never cease to exist. The Resolution also got it right. Oh, by the way, not only is Obama ineligible due to not meeting that requirement but so is Senator Marco Rubio, his parents were not American citizens at the time of his birth. He is a great guy and I love the chap but he isn’t a “natural born Citizen.”
Not trying to start a pissing contest here but according to this article which in part says this:
“The Constitution does not define the phrase natural-born citizen, and various opinions have been offered over time regarding its precise meaning. The Congressional Research Service has stated that the weight of scholarly legal and historical opinion indicates that the term means one who is entitled under the Constitution or laws of the United States to U.S. citizenship “at birth” or “by birth,” including any child born “in” the United States, even to alien parents (other than to foreign diplomats serving their country), the children of United States citizens born abroad, and those born abroad of one citizen parent who has met U.S. residency requirements.”
Rubio is a natural born citizen if he was born in the USA – and by all accounts I’ve read he was – so he’s a natural born citizen. As are all those babies dropped by illegal immigrants around the USA. The question of WHERE Obama was born continues but I think thats a dead end. Many think his last name should be Davis since his father is/was FRANK MARSHALL DAVIS according to them. Obama looks NOTHING like Obama Sr and has very similar features to Frank Marshall Davis.
Sorry, Wikipedia does not count as authoritative. The SCOTUS does, however, and ruled in Minor v. Happersett (1875) that “natural-born citizen” means born on US soil to parents who were US citizens at the time of the child’s birth. This was the definition propounded in Vattel’s Law of Nations, which was read and admired by the members of the Constitutional Convention. The 14tth Amendment, often cited by 0bama supporters, defines citizenship, not natural-born citizenship, a phrase carefully inserted by the Founders at this one point in the Constitution.
This implies that 0bama is constitutionally ineligible to serve as POTUS or VPOTUS; likewise with Rubio, and Jindal as well, I believe. Consequently, I want to ensure that conservatives take the pledge not to vote for a Romney-Rubio ticket or Romney-Jindal.
This is going to sound weird, and it is undoubtedly not what the writers of the U.S. Constitution meant, but in ordinary language at the time “natural born” could also mean born in a natural childbirth rather than by a Caesarian operation.
Surak is absolutely right. The Congressional Research Service made at least two attempts to squash this debate about the meaning of “natural born Citizens” and they got it wrong both times. It was an effort by the Congressional Research Service to supply Representatives with an answer to the thousands of letters they were receiving on the subject. It is a damn shame that their research was so absolutely shoddy on a topic of such importance. There research would not hold up in any courtroom. Thank you Surak for your response.
If the Congressional Research Service is right on this why would there have been a need by Congress to make 8 attempts to change the Constitutional requirement to be a “natural born Citizen” since 2003. Congress knows the requirement and they want it changed.
The issue of what “low information” voters might do on Election Day has worried me, too. But a critical mass of O mistakes has been reached, and rather recently, to where even the Lows would have the cognitive dissonance equivalent of the Wicked Witch reaching for Dorothy’s shoes once their hands get anywhere near a voting machine with the prospect of voting for O. Something very unusual, even extraordinary, could happen between now and then to turn off some this dissonance. For this to work it would have to be in the extraordinary range, something like a foreign mega-crisis. But it is, after all, in the dem reelection playbook.
When offering a chance to purchase an investment, one must remember that past performance is not an assurance of future results.
Obama’s “record” is largely hidden from the masses. The low information voter is generally fed from a poisoned trough.
The “permanent grievance” class is going to vote for Obama at a 98% clip. His “record” to them is something entirely different than the unemployment, deficit, debt and serial corruption “record” might mean to the non-grievance class of voter.
It may remain closer than it should, because nearly ALL of the key information will be covered up, distorted, propagandized and lied about by all of Hollywood, academia and the mass media empire. For people who primarily get their information from the JournOlista crowd…the truth simply won’t matter.
Couple that with an uphill climb for the candidate carrying the ball for the resistance…and his penchant for oafish statement, a propaganda and lies machine that will savage him at every turn, …and Obama’s “record” will have even less impact on the outcome.
It should. In a sane America.
But America is not living in sane times. We are in the middle of an overthrow of the free market. And, organizationally speaking…our resistance to it…well, sucks.
The DOJ, EPA and TSA are runaway thugs. The Supreme Court is nearly half anti-America. The Senate won’t do their damn job, we have no budget and we are on an unsustainable path to ruin.
The consumers of Hollywood, academia and mass media information don’t know any of this. Nor will they likely ever know. Ignorance is bliss, until it isn’t.
Obama has and will retain his core constituency no matter what; he just isn’t likely to have as many of them. The children, the looters, and the moochers were all expecting to be drinking pink Bubble-Up and eating Rainbow Stew as soon as His hand came off The Bible and they’re not. They still won’t vote for Romney – or any Republican – but many of them needed the excitement of the Obasm to get them to vote in ’08 and the thrill is gone.
That leaves the mushy middle and a lot of conservatives to worry about and we MUST find a way to get them out. I’m thinking the OWSers and the blacks are being tuned up to provide riot and rumor of riot as a means to suppress turnout and in-person voting in white suburbs, the land of the safety mom and her castrati husband. These are people who voted for Comrade Obama last time because it was cool. They’re smart enough to have figured out that it hasn’t turned out to be cool at all, though they could never admit it. Like somebody wrote the other day; they’ll close the curtain and vote for Romney, but they’ll lie to the exit poll about it. So, the Obamunists have to find a way to get those people to either not vote at all or to vote absentee so the absentee votes can be stolen.
I don’t know what, if anything, can be done to get the self-styled “true conservative” to vote for Romney. Most of them are political naifs and are basically “aginners,” not conservatives or even libertarians at all in any thoughtful way. But they’ve put so much energy into pronouncing Romney to be “Obama Lite,” that they aren’t anymore likely to admit to having a change of heart thatn is the safety mom, so they’ll either stay home or vote third party, though a few might become sane and vote for Romney.
The ones that worry me most are people who should be voting Republican but because they simply cannot accept what their eyes and ears are telling them have just stopped paying attention at all. This turns into just a withdrawal from politics or buying into the “they’re all the same,” and any criticism of Comrade Obama and the Democrats is met with, “the Republicans are just as bad.” That person resignedly voting for Obama or just staying home really worries me and I think there are lots of them.
Hopefully their numbers will be cancelled out by the O voters of ’08 who will stay home ’cause they can’t stomach voting for a Pub. Some polls (I know….polls) show far less enthusiam among leftist voters; such should serve as an advantage for our side.
I wrote a lengthy diatribe wrt to your and cfb’s comments. I’ll cut it down to this. This is a must win. I think slow play and timing strategies are foolish when the stakes are so high. As I listen to another of his ridiculous speeches at Ft. Stewart, it becomes even more painfully obvious that this player must be exposed regardless. He is evil, and his cohorts are evil. We will not win this election unless we go full frontal on this guy. Not just on the economy. Juxtapose all the selective and contradictory statements of ‘fact’ he’s made and do it emphatically. Increase the pressure on his people. Do it to a crescendo as we get to the late summer. A good chess player gets his opponent on his heels early to take him out of his strategy. Then increases the pressure…it’s risky, but if you know the opposition has a tendency to be erratic under pressure, its worth the risk.
We are dealing with Malthusians. Read their useful idiot’s rags and you know it’s so. Marxist schmarxist. That’s so 19th century. Holdren’s buddy:

Remember the ‘unexpected’ jump in unemployment number reports we’ve hear/read over the past 3 years? (‘unexpected’ only by the MSM) – the ‘unexpected’ dip in GDP numbers (according to the MSM anyway) – the ‘unexpected’ drop in revenue coming into the IRS coffers (again – according to the MSM) – etc etc??? So many ‘unexpected’ events. WTH?
Just wait November 7th when the MSM has to report on the ‘unexpected’ loss of Barack Hussein Obama!!!
Unexpected? Hardly! As Romney said in a recent speech – we aren’t stupid.
EPA Official: EPAs “philosophy” is to “crucify” and “make examples” of US energy producers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze3GB_b7Nuo&feature=player_embedded
For the Left, Obama & Co., and their captive MSM this whole election is about throwing up enough “chaff” in the air to confuse and deflect any of us who are trying to hit the target of his actual record. Thus, there will be endless “outrage,” talk, and debate—sucking up all the oxygen in the room, occupying hours of TV time, thousands of column inches of print, and Youtube and the Internet–and all designed to take the focus off of Obama’s actual record, and to talk, instead, about anything else—endless “sound and fury” about essentially meaningless, irrelevant and/or tangential issues, “distractions” like Rush and his “slut” remark, and the two recent “misfires” about Romney’s dog, and Romney’s parents supposed ties to polygamy—made up, inflated and/or co-opted “distractions”–which I expect will be coming “fast and furious” until election night.
Our job is to keep the focus on and the discussion and analysis about things like the miserable state of the economy, massive and intractable unemployment, 45 million on food stamps, Obama & Co’s suppression of U.S. Energy production and high (and getting higher) gas prices, what is basically a flat-lining housing market, out of control spending, economy and future wrecking, un-payable levels of debt, and no Budget for the last three years out of Democratic controlled Congress, a corrupt Justice Department, the Black Panther voter intimidation case, and DOJ’s current efforts to suppress State’s attempts to reduce voter fraud, and things like the bloody, high body count “Fast and Furious,” Obama & Co.’s attack against religious freedom and the Catholic church, the EPA and regulatory gangsterism, Solyndra, and a corrupt and failed “Energy policy,” Obama & Co. and their allies attempts to agitate their base, using things like the Treyvon Martin case to foster “civil unrest” and perhaps a race war, etc. etc.
I do not think it will work. There has to be a reason to vote for Romney, not just against Obama. If the whole campaign is just that a lot of voters will just stay home which will work in Obamas favor.
There is a very important reason to vote for Romney…the reason is he’s not Obama. As someone so succinctly wrote: If you voted for Obama the last time to prove you were not a racist. You must vote for someone else this time to prove you’re not an idiot.
Not so! I am a Conservative, Tea Party, Female. I liked anyone but Romney.
I am however a practical person and realize between Obama & Romney, Romney is my guy!
ABO 2012
Romney And Obama, The American People are getting sick and tired of Government. Government is just not working any more they way WE set it up too in the beginning. Something is going to have to give,it cannot continue this way. They are one in the same! http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=IWDJEc92d38&feature=player_embedded
Let me put a new spin on this; first of all I was having a conversation with a person of color who offered some wise words: he said, “I would rather have white man in office than a black one because who are you going to complain to?” His point was that everyone thought that President Obama would be different kind of President showing how a person of color could and would do things right and honorably as opposed to just another politician. Turns out we were all wrong and got something of a bait-n-switch here.People of color are seeing what is going on and they do not like it no more than their white counterparts and realizing that if they complain their voices are not heard. But a white President would feel pressure from the media and others to bend on issues of our citizens of color. This is true of all nationalities right now. I think Obama is not going to have it so easy this year because the silent majority might stay silent but vote loud and clear.
“I would rather have white man in office than a black one because who are you going to complain to?”
Is that like a kid back from Lord of the Flies Camp, admitting that he’d rather be raised by an adult?
Klein proceeded to offer three elections (2008, 1988, and 1976) which supposedly showed that a president’s record in office doesn’t matter. Readers can and should be forgiven for wondering why he chose those three campaigns, given that none of them involved incumbents seeking reelection.
Minor correction – 1976 featured an incumbent (Gerald Ford) who was seeking election. If you recall, he was nominated by Nixon to fill the vacancy at vice president when Spiro Agnew resigned and became president when Nixon resigned.
Obama and the Democrats will do everything possible to divert attention away from his dismal record. Just in the past couple months, we’ve had slutgate, Travon Martin and the Secret Service and GSA scandals. Look for many more artifical “outrages” in the months to come. If those don’t work, look for things like civil unrest (OWS, race hustlers).
I wrote that Ford wasn’t seeking reelection, and as such Klein’s use of 1976 as a reference example was bogus.
Readers can and should be forgiven for wondering why he chose those three campaigns, given that none of them involved incumbents seeking reelection.
Ford was an incumbent. Technically, he wasn’t seeking reelection but election, but he was still an incumbent.
Eh? Ford was an incumbent seeking re-election in 1976. Sure, his first election wasn’t by the people via the electoral college but by other processes, but it’s a quibble to rule that out; “elected” just means “chosen”. So he was an incumbent, and he had been elected – by those processes.
The election will not be merely about Obama but about the vision Romney and the GOP have for America. So far I don’t see much that would make me want to vote for either. This is no longer my parents’ GOP. It more closely resembles the John Birch Society I recall from my teenage years when I first became politically aware that William Buckley drummed out of the party. As I was growing up in Michigan, I was quite fond of George Romney. With Mitt, not so much.
????
I guess you don’t know much about the John Birch Society.
“…none of them involved incumbents seeking reelection…”
1976?
Whilst technically Gerald Ford may not have been elected in 1974, he was an incumbent and he certainly had a record.
Sorry, missed the correction above.

Embezzelment: In funding the solar energy failures
Fraud: shovel ready jobs.
I’m no fan of Carter, but this old lie isn’t helping us any.
Carter was only marginally responsible for the inflation that occurred on his watch. It was a product of two things: LBJ took us off the gold standard, and Nixon imposed (illegal) price controls to try to control the resulting inflation.
When the hapless J. Carter took office, the price controls went away, and all that pent up inflation EXPLODED in his face.
Did he recognize the problem and deal with it effectively? HA! Of course not! His hand-wringing helplessness contributed to the economic woes because a lot of what drives Wall Street is CONFIDENCE, and he didn’t inspire any. Rather the opposite!
So, yes, he was (and IS) a disaster, but the economic problems were not his creation.
As conservatives, we ought to know better than to automatically credit the President with whatever economic conditions prevail on his watch. Presidents OFTEN inherit problems or blessings for which they deserve neither credit or blame.
GW inherited the damage from Clinton’s tax hikes, etc. as Clinton inherited the benefits of the Reagan Economy and the Internet boom (the crash of which he exacerbated!). Bill Clinton doesn’t deserve any credit for the economic conditions under his watch, and neither does Carter deserve (all) the blame for the economic conditions under his watch.
You know, I never thought of Carter’s administration that way, but I think you are totally correct. (Except that it was Nixon, not LBJ, who took us off the gold standard). We all too often assign current economic conditions as solely the creations of the current Commanders in Chief, when economies are the products of many disparate players, trendlines and decisions from prior administrations.
What Carter did ..which was unforgivable, was to listen to the lies from Brzezinski, and give US taxpayer’s $$$ to Bin Laden to overthrow the Afghanistan government.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJTv2nFjMBk
Brzezinski was Obama’s Foreign Policy Adviser early in his campaign.
The European Union is a little colossus on clay feet. Some imagine that the diverse countries and cultures of the continent can be merged into one nation – in a way a copy-cat of the United States. It is a failed project all together. The economy tells the truth. All of South Europe is threatened. It is the economy but even more the nations varied structure and mindsets. Just as blind as the European policymakers are to the above mentioned issues, just as blind are they when it comes to view Obama’s personality and politics. He is just like them: blindfolded, arrogant, with a socialist bend. EU as a futurist dream is doomed. May Obama’s rein left to history.
As bad as Obama’s record is, the Fall election also needs to be about where the Republicans will lead.
This election has nothing to do with Republicans…it is simply an exercise to vote out Obama…pure and simple.
The majority of people can not let this man do more damage.
Yes, it’s a referendum on Barack Obama. The people have a chance to correct their error in 2008; or, they can be ‘pure’ and reject Romney because of his hair, family background, money, etc.
I think Romney will win by 3-7%. I hope so.
Yes, Mr. Blumer, the O-record should be the primary issue for debate in the coming election circus between a rank leftist masquerading as a moderate and a rank moderate masquerading (until very lately) as a conservative (the real Mittch-A-Sketch will re-emerge somewhat slowly at first, but by election day the whole show will be one big two-way mirror).
If it weren’t so pathetic (yes, we will get exactly the government we deserve) it would be riotously funny.
But I digress. My points here are two: First, the O-record is not the ONLY issue worthy of debate this election. There are exceedingly ominous (read “deadly”) storm clouds on the eastern (read “Islamic” and/or “Iranian”) horizon that The One has no more capacity to comprehend than Romney can comprehend the Trinity (which he, and all faithful, indoctrinated Mormons, flatly reject). Second, there is more to the O-record than your otherwise excellent essay today mentioned. The O-record that was completely ignored (at least by the MLM) in 2008 (and is still) is The One’s radical communist, socialist and racist philosophical roots. They are all just as real, but just as overtly occluded, as the gray hair he hides behind changing shades of black.

Don’t expect to see any of those details published in the MLM, though.
Won’t it be swell if all of the old electoral rules apply. Gee, maybe 2008 was just an aberration.
My advice is to proceed just like this is 1980.
The fact that we have a hard-core committed gang of marxist thugs running the country who don’t even recognize ethics, no matter follow them probably won’t make a bit of difference.
Rome’s Bureaucrats Better than the EPA’s at Increasing Prosperity!A comparison, with graphics, of how Rome’s takeovers left areas prosperous, whereas Obama/Government interference has the opposite effect. For example, PAX ROMANA vs POX OBAMA. In conclusion — Rome knew how to create wealth. And, despite the fact that Roman soldiers had little qualms about inflicting pain, I would also argue they showed more compassion during their crucifixions than the EPA does during theirs.
When I was still a stoopid liberal, I voted for John Anderson. Next election, I voted for Reagan.
How many times has there been revisions to the BLS data during the “Campaigner in Chief’s” reign? More than anyone really knows about, because “Big Media” hides them, and gives them minimal coverage if they do leak out.
Anyone, involved in commerce, knows Obama’s record is worse than is being published.
Axelrod, and the rest of his commies, will cover and delay all this data with the same intimidation they use for all other embarrassing revelations.
How much do you want to bet against there being another manufactured crisis by these commies, and blasted, non-stop, by Big Media?
WND EXCLUSIVE JUDGE WANTS DEFINITION OF ‘NATURAL BORN CITIZEN’ ‘Resolution of this federal issue will resolve the case’ Published: 2 days ago

I think yo may be forgetting an important figure that should come up just prior to the election – the required increase in the National Debt Ceiling. The Obama administration probably figured that they got enough head room on the last one to carry them through November, but it looks now like they’l come up short. Of course, there’s all kinds of accounting tricks they can use, but it will still be useable as an issue if the Romney amp choses to do so.
Romney should be much more aware of the true nature of BHO, his ” entertainer ” tactic to deflect attention from the bleak reality towards distraction like class warfare, ” Romney the job killer ” etc.. Romney should add a lot more spice, and speaks sometimes from his gut feeling, adding charisma, exactly as Reagan did to unseat Jimmy Carter.
