The 3rd quarter fundraising season has ended, and this week David Corn and Richard Miniter ponder the reasons why Democrats are clearly outpacing Republicans both in presidential and Congressional campaigns, for the 1st time in years. And the big surprise: Republican candidate Ron Paul raising nearly as much as the GOP front-runners. They also look at the Log Cabin Republicans anti-Romney ad, Hillary’s 33-point lead over Obama, and much more. Click and watch! (Audio-only MP3 version available here)

Joseph Schumpeter warned over five decades ago that the capitalist system might be betrayed by those who are its greatest beneficiaries. The wealthy leftist “hip and with it” elites of today are a quintessential example of this phenomenon. Many Republican business people have become cynical and are opting to get onto the welfare recipient bandwagon. Pushing health care costs onto the government saves them a lot of money. Finally, one should not overlook the huge amounts of money available for those who become global warming fanatics. It totals in the billions. It is also humorous to watch Americans enraged over a proposed $250,000,000 bridge to nowhere—while at the same time far more money is wasted on global warming hysteria.
“And the big surprise: Republican candidate Ron Paul raising nearly as much as the GOP front-runners.”
Odd that you, the editors of Pajamas Media, would be surprised by Ron Paul’s strong fundraising. Your straw poll has consistently shown that Paul has a great base of enthusiastic supporters.
You’ve had the data right in front of your face all along. Instead of analyzing the data, you’ve been unreasonably (and most unobjectively, if I may) dismissive of the data.
You should have been predicting this outcome before the fact rather than reacting in surprise.
