I know the comment about having a black son before meeting a democrat, but I just blew it off. I guess I'll have to read the book. But, I still loved the movie and thought that Sandra Bullock did a fantastic job. I'm about as conservative as you can get, but for this moment I took politics out of the mix. It brought back many memories of growing up in Memphis. Hurt Village was a tough part of town when I lived there over twenty years ago. I am glad M.O. managed to escape. I remember a lot of prejudice people in Memphis, but I knew a lot of conservative, Christians who were willing to open their pocket books to help the unfortunate. See the movie. At no time did I feel he was being treated as the pet! You people in this thread being so hateful, are the problem with race relations not progressing quicker past the errors of America's past. MOVE ON! Thank god my daughters 19,17 would not think twice about someones skin color before they would help someone in need. AND yes they are rich white girls. LIVE in today's moment, not our past. We have a Black president for gods sake!! Is that not enough to say that "the Man" is ready to move on???
