3. Breivik’s Zionism Is Fused with Fascism, Proving that for Today’s Neo-Nazis the Muslims Are “the new Jews.”
According to The Daily Beast, Breivik is a typical neo-Nazi who, rather strangely, paradoxically, is also a Zionist. By definition, neo-Nazis and other fascists are not Zionists. In The Daily Beast’s opinion, “Islamophobia” is what currently unites European fascists/neo-Nazis and their allegedly “Nazi” leaning Israeli counterparts. However, Israel is not a “Nazi” state and it does not have an “apartheid” wall; it is a security fence, built only after Muslim Palestinian terrorists launched many thousands of attacks against unarmed Israeli civilians.
I have written many articles and a book, The New Anti-Semitism, which explain that Zionism does not equal racism; rather, today, anti-Zionism equals racism. Zionism is the liberation movement of a persecuted and oppressed people who are currently being demonized for daring to exist and to defend themselves. Israel, however imperfect, is still the only democracy in the Middle East and remains America’s only stable ally in that region.
Of course, The Daily Beast found a Jewish author to pen this claptrap, someone who just happens to have written a book about right-wing Christianity. Such ideologues are the first to condemn Judaism and Christianity as misogynist — but give a real Hail Mary pass to Islam.
The Israeli Mossad is not behind Breivik’s dastardly attacks, nor were they behind 9/11. Ironically, the Norwegian teenagers were being indoctrinated into anti-Israel activism on their idyllic island. There are many photos which show them holding banners saying, “Boycott Israel,” “Break the Siege of Gaza,” and “Tear Down the Apartheid Wall.”
However, this is standard fare all over the world today, and the Mossad is not gunning people down over it.

There are people on record, like Geert Wilders, the English Defence League, and others on the far right who said that while they did not condone Breivik’s murders, the points he raised in his manifesto were actually correct and were principals that they believed in. As a matter of fact,a member of an Italian far right group, the Northern League, told an Italian radio station that he sympathized with some of Brevik’s ideas. Also, if you going to accuse Muslims of passing out candy when murderer’s lash out, you should also point out that when Baruch Goldstein massacred 29 Palestinians in a mosque in 1994, his gravesite became a pilgrimage site for Jewish extremists.

Goldstein is the exception that proves the rule – he was denounced by Israel, by rabbis, and the government bulldozed over his gravesite.

What you conveniently left out was that the Israeli government didn’t demolish the shrine at his gravesite until 1999, five long years after Goldstein carried out his massacre, and after more than 10,000 people had come to pay homage to this terrorist. Even to this day, there are Jews who praise him for what he did, evidenced by when Jewish settlers last year sang songs praising Goldstein during celebrations of Purim.

Just to take one easy example: the Norwegian Labour Party and their youth branch openly oppose Israel’s continued control of the West Bank (and in some cases, of Israel). Their rhetric is often inflammatory (“apartheid”, “genocide” etc).

Obviously you didn’t read the interview Norway’s Amabassador to Israel gave to the Israeli paper Maariv in which he said that as much that Israelis deserved the terrorism where as Norway did not.

As a woman with gay relatives, I find myself very sympathetic with the views of some of the European activists who decry the fact that Muslim immigrants have turned some areas into no-go zones for gays and unveiled women. That doesn’t mean I’m not horrified by the thought of a man hunting down defenseless teens trapped on an island for 90 minutes. It’s a parent’s worst nightmare in regards to terrorist attacks.

I’d target them for open, public hearings on the scientific merits of their theory.
I’d rig the trial, though. I’d make sure we had a fair referee (or judge, if you prefer) who would not allow them to shout down their opponents, and would make them answer fair and honest questions that are put to them. They’d be required to document their assertions, rather than just resorting to their usual “argument from authority”, and they’d be required to answer to ALL of the data, not just a select little bit that they like to pretend is all we need to know.
I’d also require a good many of them to answer for their collusion with other “scientists” to suppress dissenting views and discredit opponents.
I’d make sure that BOTH sides had equal time to present their views and their evidence, and to cross-examine the other side.
I know, I know, this would be the intellectual equivalent of water boarding for these folks, and would certainly qualify as cruel and unusual punishment.
And I’d do it to them without a qualm and without apology.

Perhaps with the exception of Norway, this “right wingers are terrorists” thing will blow over with the general public. While Brevik’s extreme views are detestable, the underlying anxieties that have driven him to these terrible acts are shared by a whole lot of normal, law-abiding people, and a majority of Americans, and perhaps a very large number of Europeans, do not see eye-to-eye with their elites and their political class on a majority of issues.
Praetorian: I have said, in a post under a different article on the same subject, that we do not know yet what the outcome of Breivik’s assaults will be. I think he encapsulizes the frustration of Europeans who regard their own, native cultures, as being given or dealt away as they view the “hoardes” of Muslims “invade” their own respective countries and proceed to “wreck havoc” on it. I’ll bet we are in agreement on this point. I have spoken to more than a few elderly French immigrants to Canada and Israel who sum up the current situation vis a vis the high and growing population of Muslims as “La France n’est plus.” We read about the frustration of enlightened Europeans such as Geert Wilders who are determined to kickback the encroaching desolation of their cultural and social heritages. In sum, Breivik represents a vicious distortion of an urgent and genuine European problem. The international community will have to deal with this because, I’ll bet, there are many other Breiviks loose amongst the population of Europe, people who, though sane (as Phyllis pointed out about Breivik), may take up arms and go to the extremes as Breivik so determinedly did. In this case, Breivik is, unfortunately, symbolic of the frustration of the western European people who cannot make their voices solidly heard. What do you think?

Praetorian, I ask you to examine your language here–that a certain set of anxieties “drove” Breivik to commit this slaughter.
There are many of us who have concerns, even anxieties, about the West welcoming sharia law.
It does not necessarily follow that mass slaughter is conducted, nor planned, nor for those of us gifted with a conscience by those around us, even imagined.
In my view Breivik had more in common with the jihadists than he (or others) cared to see. The displacement of aggression in the manner he chose is not a natural outcome of political, social, religious, or demographic concerns. And surely the ruthless slaughter of many dozens of one’s own countrymen (designated Other) because of their beliefs is not a forced outcome. It is a chosen one.
The whole point of being adult/mature is that one can distinguish between reactions/feelings, even strongly compelling ones, and reactionary, even violent, expression of them.
What is this business about “father-wounded” men? In the vast majority of divorces and separations, it’s the woman who leaves the man (and often proceeds to poison the minds of their children against the father). Shouldn’t they be described as “mother-wounded”?
Also, who has more influence on the development of a child – a parent who is absent, or one that actually raises the child? If anything, we should be looking at the influence of Breivik’s mother, who was actually on the scene for his whole life – not just one year.

Multiculturalism has failed. Islam will never be accepted in western cultures as Islam does not even work in Eastern cultures. 1400 years have provided mush evidence. bitizens are waking up to the mess and the governments are ignoring. “Father wounded men”: Phyllis, most of what you wrote in this article is passable to enlightening and I appreciate it as I do most of your work but Part I, when you speculate on “father wounded men” is altogether too capricious, too general and too easy to conceptualize. Most of what you say could just as easily result in men developing into “female haters” because the son did not feel protected by the mother. This occurs, for instance, if you have noticed, when men (as boys) are abused by their fathers. They blame their mothers for non-protection although, in reality, the mother, herself, may have been subdued and too frightened and with good reason. The particular branch of psychohistory led by Lloyd DeMause is fraught with over-psychologizing based on muddied research. Essentially, you are theorizing based on a superficial examination when it requires an individual analysis of the kind based on one-to-one psycholigical interviews, psychometric testing (if you like) and all placed within an historical and social context.
Breivik may be sane enough to participate competently in his trial and sane enough to know that mass murder is either going to get him killed or get him put away for life (I believe his lawyer said he expected to die or to kill himself, but was apprehended by police before he could do so), but he is certainly diagnosable, probably with a personality disorder like schizotypal, schizoaffective or other kind of sociopathic psychological profile. His paranoia and his grandiosity are signatures of mental illness. The word “insane” has become meaningless other than used as a legal defense.
The “father-wounded” dimension may have contributed as well as how he was parented by his mother. Only his psychiatrist/psychotherapist can make that determination, in my opinion. In other words, although he may fit the legal definition of “sane,” he is seriously disordered.

Obama’s father was absent. His stepfather, apparently a decent man in Indonesia, became a distant father figure when he and Obama’s mother got divorced. Obama’s grandmother was an impressive business figure (I haven’t quite figures out her politics but it apparently wasn’t conservative), and his grandfather was a leftist who was friends of old-time Communist Party USA operative Frank Marshall Davis (drinking buddies according to Barack). His mother was an absentee, globe-trotting leftist/hippie.

While Breivik has cited the writings of anti-Jihadists authors in his manifesto; those of whom had the courage to speak out vociferously against the egregious effects of multi-culturalism on Western civilization, we cannot, in good consicence, transform him into a victim of the leftist MSM. As Dr. Chesler points out, Breivik posseses a “paranoid worldview and the capacity to exact vengeance”. With a person like Brevik, today’s enemies can easily become tomorrow’s friends and vice versa.
Clearly, his hatred has no limitations; he is capable of committing heinous atrocities in the name of his deeply held convictions; without regard to the sanctity of human life or the dangerous consequences of his actions. He is a terrorist, no different than any other, save for his philosophy. Once again, Phyllis, you have hit the nail on the head.
There may be people out there who secretly (or not too secretly) applaud this man’s actions, that is not the norm. There are some who see his attack as fighting back (more in the line of self-defense) — I’m not one of them, BTW, but I certainly understand why someone wouldn’t want to be demonized (as I and my people and my land are). I can understand why someone might feel frustrated that (s)he can’t do anything to change people’s minds on this issue. But I’m a pacifist by nature (possibly reanalyzing by “nurture” or by concern for my and my family’s safety).
I doubt Mr. Breivik sees the world as I do. I worry that he has given jihad condoning Westerners more fodder; I worry that by his acts he will cause the evil ones to redouble their efforts. But I also understand the desperation people can feel looking at what appears to be an untenable situation. I in no way support the murder of misguided youth (one never knows if they would repent their evil leanings) nor the planting of a bomb that could kill and maim innocents. I understand a militia’s duty to protect its populous (as Israel does) or people fighting attackers who attack them (or their loved ones) directly. I can’t understand why people find it so easy to blame “Islamophobia” (which, from my POV, doesn’t really exist — it’s not a phobia, it’s a true fear, one that stems from real danger, not an irrational fear). When I read about this tragedy I was stunned and deeply shocked that this monster attacked and murdered the children for a FULL NINETY MINUTES. How could such a length of time take place before the authorities arrived? This is a first world country with a modern police force and modern military. The nation’s children were under attack. If the police were experiencing any kind of problem to carry out a rescue and stop the dreadful carnage, why were the military not called in immediately?
Why were their neighbors, close European countries not contacted immediately asking for help?
The world has a long tradition where in emergencies such as fire, floods and earthquakes, etc. other countries immediately send teams to help the country suffering an emergency.
If I were the parents of the slain children, I would spend the rest of my life seeking an answer as to why this monster was able to murder the children for a FULL NINETY MINUTES. There are NO excuses.
Linda, I think you are being a bit too harsh on the Norwegian authorities. Two factors are important to consider:
(1) Norway has not been a target of terrorist attacks for many years. Its ability to respond is therefore limited. And there were two attacks that day.
(2) More importantly, the terrorist knew this, and he carefully planned to take advantage of the fact. That’s why he set of a bomb outside the Prime Minister’s office, just as he was about to start his massacre. He knew that all of Norway’s emergency response services would head straight to the bomb blast, thus distracting them from his slaughter. Then, he disguised himself as a policeman, and told his victims that he was there to protect them from the people who set the bomb.
His plan was diabolical, and perfectly calculated to take advantage of surprise. The fault does not lie with the Norwegian authorities, but with the terrorist who planned these crimes so carefully.
This abhorrent nutcase is being credited with the attributes of an evil genius and the planning and military skills of a one man army. He avoided military service on three occasions yet he is able to acquire and proficiently use a multitude of weapons, he is wealthy enough … from where? … to rent a farm at £1000 a month, he builds explosives in such quantities that are impossible for a normal man on his own to manufacture and store, he owns several vehicles to use as bomb casings and as transportation from Oslo to the docks to purchase a ticket(?) to the island. Everything runs like clockwork but the authorities have allowed the helicopter crew to go on holiday and would not set a sniper on the media helicopter photographing the assassin mowing down the victims. This event is a machiavellian conspiracy and it is doubtful if we will ever discover the complete truth about this tragic fiasco. But it sure gives serious pause for thought.
Ms. Rivera, as I commented to you in reply to this same point you made on another topic, the lack of police response is surely an outcome of Norway’s long-standing tradition of eroding its police force.

As for some other commenter above who said something about the shooter’s paranoid worldview, I have to wonder with a certain amount of astonishment that if that’s the case, just whose worldview does he hold? It’s the counter-jihad position, just with a lot of terrorist trappings layered on top. If he hadn’t committed a crime, he might have been writing for one of your blogs. Is that the paranoid worldview that you mean? There’s really no way to deny that, is there? While I understand the counter-jihadist concerns, you can’t get away with psychologizing that fact out of existence.
Also, I’m wondering why no one has looked carefully at the shooter’s discussion, apparently in the manifesto, that he was part of jihadist gangs as a teen. That’s a rather interesting detail.

Just read your brilliant piece in PJ media. There is no doubt in my mind that Anders Breivik is SANE. He had been planning this for some time and took great preparations in doing so. Wouldn’t you also diagnose him as a ‘narcissistic’ personality since he displays a lack empathy and acted in such cold hearted way?
I read that he had is IPod on and was listening to the Lord of the Rings (but it couldn’t have been, since he cited the wrong composer) to give him inspiration and courage and drown out screams.
Also the mention of drugs, especially, amphetamines is interesting as the soldiers of the Wehrmacht were on the drug which is what enabled them to carry out their Bliztkrieg of Europe.
Timothy McVeigh was also very sane and his inspiration for the Oklahoma bombing was taken directly from The Turner Diaries by the late Dr. William Pierce who founded the National Alliance (which was White supremacist and not Christian).
The abandoned father issue is very interesting in the profile of these males. But what about this as regards females? I realise that you are dealing with the feminist angle, but why doesn’t such behaviour exhibit itself in females.
Also my one problem with Barry Rubin’s article was his not blaming the Koran, but it’s interpretation. Perhaps he never read Dr Andrew Bostom’s copious work on The Legacy of Islamic Anti-Semitism, or Wafa Sultan or many other notable scholars. The problem in my opinion as well as others, is Islam. Breivik is clearly not insane, merely a person willing to sacrifice everything for something he believed in. If you share his belief that the traditions of Western Civilization are worth preserving, then the terms “hero” and “martyr” are appropriate. He is exactly what he said he is – a modern Knight Templar – and with a single act he changed the game in a way few other living human beings will ever do. Suddenly, betraying one’s nation to Communism and Islam just became a lot more dangerous – as it should have always been.
Not only is there nothing wrong with believing in something larger than oneself, there’s something seriously wrong with a person who never believes in anything larger than himself.

Bob, those are good points. However, most people in the West (such as Kathleen) are not willing or able to accept the existence of an honor culture. Its a pity because this could go a long way to help them understand Islam. However, this may lead to a return to esteem for male honor and subsequent female honor, i.e. chastity. Phyllis, please explain to me how anything Breivik has done, said or written indicates he is from the political “right,” much less the “right-wing.” In political philosophy, as I am almost sure you know, the “left” represents a belief in economic collectivism and a planned economy while the “right” holds a belief in economic individualism and a free-market economy. I could agree completely if Breivik were characterized as having nationalist, xenophobic, anti-government, and/or cultural bias as motiviations for his acts, but these sentiments are certainly not exclusive to the “right.”
I have seen what appears to me a concerted effort by those on the left to brand everything bad (extreme nationalism, xenophobia, racism, sexism, etc.) as being “right-wing” elements in order to discredit the “right” through guilt-by-association. I encourage you to be more careful in ensuring political labels used to describe individuals, especially individuals who commit inexcusablly horrible acts, are accurate.

Breivik was a fundamentalist Christian. That simply is not true.
Breivik says himself, in his manifesto on page 1408, that he is not religious but appreciates the Christian culture that he lives in.
Breivik is at most agnostic and more accurately described as an atheist.
Fighting with and for Western (Christian) Culture doesn’t make you a fundamentalist Christian, it doesn’t make you a Christian, in Breivik’s case, he’s a greatly disturbed agnostic who is more Nationalist than Religious.

In his mind he is fighting for Christian Culture which he also sees as an inherently Christian one.

I just finished reading “Narcisismo” by Alexander Lowen: last pages describe the Crisis of Values which occured since after … World War I … to (his) present days (he published his Work in 1983). He explained how … Authority lost his – so to say – power, and how social roles got subverted. Narcissism … increased and the world of images and appearence started occupying the main place in society, among youngs: (since after W.W.I) there as been a slow but constant alienation from (more concrete) – life’s – reality. I guess that (so as it most probalby happened with Colombine’s shooters) Brievik thought rather to be in a sort of virtual reality, rather that in the more concrete one. The problem with Authority (according to Lowen) is, that it abdicated its role. Authority should protect collectivity, society, and not follow its own interests (at the expenses of those which are submitted to it). Leftist Parties on power actually abdicated their role (they abandoned their own communities and societies, allowing mass uncontrolled non integrating Immigration, and so on). Leftist/Communist … utopias are probably as unrealistic as Brievik’s shooting was: they virtually imagine to solve a problem, but they actually create another (even bigger?). Why was the camp supporting these terrorists?
About Breivik. Famous “right-wing” Norwegian blogger Fjordman forcefully refuted the charge that he was Breivik. Of course we now know they are different people. Fjordman is quite brilliant. Fjordman adds the charge of “monster” to qualify Breivik, writes about his “unspeakable” crimes (beheading of Berg or Pearl speakable?). He said his many articles have never caused anyone to be violent. Who knows? But they imply, dance with, and have as a logical consequence the assumption that only violence will save the late day, meaning Europe’s movement towards Eurabia. And rightly so!
Northern League dude was mellow because being interview by the media. A politician. I am not, and state that Breivik’s Manifesto is an enthralling document, mostly accurate when it comes to Islam, Europe, the liberal media in Europe, and mostly, the coward Zapatero of Spain, whom I single out here for scorn as I know his legacy there after being appointed to office by that Al-Qaeda bomb.
